I have my fingers in my ears and I can't here you getting on to me.:rolleyes1

That is def. something my mom would do...she loves plants and flowers:cutie:

BTW: I really am enjoying the resort pics... I was thinking it looked so much bigger than POFQ and didn't know if I was interested, but, you are really selling the place. They need to do a referral system and give you a discount (or do you already have that set up:rotfl:)...

Shoot, if I thought that Disney would give me a discount for referrals, I'd be all up in that. I have had two family members and two friends stay at the CBR after I showed them my pictures. All of them loved it with the exception of one snothead cousin-in-law (but the rest of his family loved it) who finds fault in anything and everything.

I agree.

I think I may start a pre-trip report very soon. I wondered if I had enough information to fill up several months of waiting. I think since August is getting closer and closer, I may just go ahead and start one.

One of my flowers did die. The other one is on my back porch. It's a tall skinny thing but has pretty flowers on it. I took a picture of it the other day. I'll post it here so you can see it.

Now before I tell you guys something, you've got to promise and pinkie swear that you won't fuss at me or yell at me or shake your pointy finger at me. (Long pause) Did you promise? Promise you promised? Okay, I'll tell you my secret. On our last day at the CBR, I pulled up two little bitty sprouts of flowers from the island, put them and some dirt in a cup and brought them home with me and one of them survived to grow in a pot on my back porch.

I know! I know! I'm not supposed to do that but I did. They were underneath a lot of the great big shrubs on the island and they were just little baby sprouts! Oh shoot! I think I hear the Disney police sirens now.

Ok, I looked everywhere for the police car smilie. No luck. Darn. I was so gonna set you up. I would never? have thought to do something like that. Mainly because I would be the one to get caught. I think Disney jail might be fun. Maybe next time I will try. You will come and bail me out won't you?

Lisa, you just crack me up! I just don't know what else to say!!!! I would have never thought to take a couple of sprouts home from Disney in hopes that they would grow at home. How awesome that you have a little piece of Disney living in a POT at your house! :woohoo:

That would have been so cute...a police car smilie. I would certainly come and get you from Disney jail because that would mean I could go to Disney. You know that we'd have to do at least one day in the parks though.

I second this thought! When you get seeds I want some! I think you did the groundkeeping staff a little favor and just prettied up the flowerbeds from unsightly volunteers! I am so like this! Just the other day I was driving down the road and some groundkeepers were trimming up lime green potato vines and I pulled up and asked if I could have the cuttings! the guy looked at me like I was crazy for wanting stuff he was throwing away! I split a Target sized bag of cutting with my BFF and we both have an abundance of potato vine! I see it as being super GREEN (thumbed):rolleyes1

The way I look at it is this....I've spent thousands upon thousands of dollars at Disney. Heck, we've been there 13 times! If I want to steal, I mean, straighten up the greenery a little, it's perfectly okay.

I would have loved to have gotten some of those cuttings you're talking about. I'd like to see if they'd grow in this super hot weather Louisiana is having.

I imagine they would perfectly. We've had in Houston something like 10 days of 100+ degree days and our neighborhood hasn't had rain since late May (unless you count the other day when it sprinkled, but not even enough to completely wet the flagstones...just lots of little sprinkle spots!:sad2:) Our county in on water restrictions and we can only water on 2 set days a week.
And yet those clippings have just taken off!

Plus I LOVE the idea that everytime you look outside you think of Disney!:cloud9: I'm not saying everyone should do it or else Disney would be plucked bald.

I have thought about getting a tripod, but haven't committed yet. I like reading up on how to get better pictures so thanks Jen :thumbsup2. I need all the help I can get. I would love to be a photographer.

Your welcome. I know alot of the theory, but doing it is another thing. LOL!

Jen,

I found out later that it is military time. When did I find out? When Lacey got the camera in her hand during her Summer break and fixed it for me. I hope and pray that the batteries hold off until she comes back home.

I bought a small tripod for my camera and hope to use it to get some better shots.

Thanks so much for the tips. :worship: I'll try and put them to good use because I know your pictures are always so good. I haven't seen a bad one in your whole bunch.

Thanks, beleive me, I take alot of bad ones too.

Good Morning, Lisa, and good morning to your ghosts, too!!! :goodvibes

Hope to get another great update today! :hippie:

Geez Louise, your photos are making me want to go back. My husband said over the weekend "instead of Disney next year, let's go on a cruise." My response? "A Disney Cruise?" His response "Noooooo..." (remember, he HATES Disney).

So, here I am thinking that I've still got a litlle less than a year to go before our next trip and he's wanting to go on a cruise, without characters. What's a girl to do???? :confused3

I want to do a cruise, but DH doesn't at this point. We have done it boefre though. I've been on two Norwegian and they were fun.
With Disney, it's not super Disney in your face if you don't want it to be. The shows are Disney, but you can avoid character greats, ect. I rartely hear a bad review of Disney ships.

We had a few sprinkles Sunday afternoon. It was funny because we all went outside to look at it.....we just stood and looked at all of about 5 minutes of sprinkles. There were so few that you really couldn't even tell it had rained.

I think our high today was 97 which isn't as hot as last week.

I've got a picture of my one little scraggly Disney plant that survived. I'm going to upload it to photobucket and post it so you guys can see it.

We don't have too. Once yours takes off I'm sure you'd be willing to Overnight us our own clippings right? OR, Pass acouple to the DIS fan the next twon over, she passes it to the DIS fan in the town next to her and so on. Pretty soon the whole U.S. will be covered in Disney!

Ya'll I'm sorry that I haven't posted much this evening. John and I were sitting outside watching Hunter play in the yard with Oddball and started talking about our vacation. He really wants to go back to the Caribbean Beach Resort. He's had reservations about the Pop Century every since I booked it.

I had called Disney Travel back in May and they said I could transfer my buy 4/get 3 promo to CBR for about $500.00. I didn't do it back then because....I don't remember why.:confused3 but I didn't.

Anyway, I got on the phone with Disney Travel. Let me change that.....I hold forever for Disney Travel and finally get a castmember who tells me I can't change over to the CBR under the previous promo. He said I had booked with the buy 9 get 3 free promo. I knew this guy didn't know what he was talking about because that wasn't how I booked and I don't even think there ever was such an offer.

I asked if he could check the new offer than I received an email about. He asked what special offer. I said the 35% off moderate resorts booked 8/9/09 through some later date. He said he had no idea what I was talking about. Ugh! Does this guy not read the Disboards?

I asked him to give me a quote with no promos, no anything, for the CBR for our dates. The price was over $900.00 what we are paying for Pop Century.

I finally just told the guy that we'd think about it and I'd call back later.

I came inside and played around on the computer to get some quotes. Of course, the first thing I found on the Special Offers page was the 35% off moderate resorts but it said room only. No tickets or dining plan.

So, I called them again. This time, the guy wasn't much more knowledgable. I had to, literally, get on their website and tell him where to find the Special Offers. Then, I had to tell him about the offer I was looking for complete with the code. Now, I understand if I had received a "random pin code" that was specifically for me, I would have had to tell him that long pin code number. But, this was a public special offer that was clearly displayed on their site.

Sorry, venting....moving on.:headache:

After I told him where to find the code, what the code was, what the inclusive dates were, etc. etc. etc., he gave me a quote of $2,278.69 for 6 days at the CBR, 9 day tickets with water park and more and the dining plan. Then, the first 3 days would be $646.89 with no tickets or dining plan. This would be $333.13 more than what we are paying at Pop and we would have to pay for three days of dining out of our pocket. But, we would have to add Lacey to the plan (I'm waiting until she knows for absolutely, postiively sure she's going to get to go back to the college late to add her.) With the buy 4/get 3 promo, it would have cost $660.00 to add her. To add her to this package would be even less.

I told the guy don't book anything and I'd call back tomorrow. I then thought I'd see if he knew what he was talking about and I asked him how long the 35% of moderate offer was for. He said he had "absolutely no idea. I didn't even know about this offer." I did know the deadline to book but didn't tell him. (It's 8/8/09 by the way.)

Long story short (oops! too late to make it short but anywhooo), we are now thinking that for an additional $500.00 or so, we could bump up to the CBR. We'd have to have two reservations and there's a chance we'd have to change rooms but we might just do it.

I am not confident that either of these two guys knew what they were talking about so I am going into work tomorrow and punching the numbers myself. I don't want to rely on what these two dumb bunnies were telling me because I'm not really sure that the guy got the right tickets on the package quote.

I'll let you guys know what I find out in the morning. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we can upgrade for $500.00 or so. But, I am not getting my hopes up yet.

Just a quick post before I have to get ready for work. I tossed and turned all night long trying to figure out if we could change to the CBR and if those two idiots even remotely knew what they were talking about. Then, at 6:37 a.m., my eyes immediately popped open because I realized for sure that the scenario CAN'T possibly work. Why? Because the room only resevation is BEFORE we would check in for our package and we would have no tickets for three days. That won't work.

Now, I have to play around with the Disney World website again. I know I could book two packages but that would probably be way more expensive. I don't know! We'll probably just stick with what we have but I'll let ya'll know our decision later today.

Hey Lisa, I just wanted to tell you, having worked on the other end of the reservations phone line, they are not allowed to tell you about any discounts that require any kind of code. At least that's how it was in 2004. If there was a code involved YOU had to tell US. Even if it was just the little 3 letter codes.

That being said, these guys still sound like idiots. I could have found you what you wanted. And there's a chance they were being recorded sounding like idiots, so maybe Disney will do something about it.

Maybe.

Hope you get what you want. I totally understand the frustration of waiting to long and missing out on what you really wanted.

I've been crunching numbers every since I came to work. No, not on work related stuff....vacation number crunching.

I know we'd be happy as clams at Pop but I think I'd be even happier at the CBR. Why, oh why, did we have to start talking about the CBR?:sad2:

Here's the deal:

Right now we are booked at Pop for 9 nights for 8/6/09 to 8/15/09
9 day tickets with water park and more option
basic dining plan: Total - $3,252.45.

If we were to book with the new 35% off moderate resorts, we would have to have two separate reservations since the promo doesn't start until 8/9/09.

8/6/09 to 8/9/09
CBR regular room
9 day tickets with water park and more option
no dining plan: Sub total - $1,861.36

ADD to that
CBR regular room
no tickets
no dining plan: + - $648.00

For a total of $2,509.36

If we wanted to stay in a pirate room for the first three days, we would add another $84.38 for a total of $2,590.74.
This is a really iffy thing as I don't know if it's worth the extra money to stay in a pirate room and be assured that we would HAVE to change rooms because we'd be going from a pirate room to a standard room.

If I booked the two CBR reservations, we'd have to pay out of pocket for our meals. Keeping all of the ADRs that I have, approximately $12.00 a day for snacks, counter service meals and tips, I have an estimated total of $1,585.00 for meals. I know that if we didn't have the plan, we probably wouldn't eat a dessert every meal and sometimes Hunter would eat off the kids' menu but that wouldn't knock off too much from the $1,585.00 total.

If I booked just one reservation for our exact dates:

CBR regular room
9 day tickets with water park and more option
basic dining plan: Total - $4,306.72

I love the dining plan. I like knowing that everything is paid for, that it doesn't matter what I order off the menu, that it doesn't matter how much it cost, etc. etc. I am afraid if we go without the dining plan, we'd be worried about how much we are spending on food and that's not what I want to do.

Any way I look at it, I would be out about $840.00 more than if we just stayed at Pop. There's just no way I am willing to pay that much more at this point in time. I'm not really too bummed about it but I wish we had just kept our mouths shut.

What a bummer. Yes you will have a great time at the POP. You're at Disney for crying out loud! Are you in your room that much to make up the difference? No! And you did take a walk around Pop, so you have an idea what it is like already too.
I think you'll do just fine.
And we don't hang around the resort a whole lot either, which sounds like you guys don't either. I actually want to next trip, so I can do more relaxing and also trying to do some other non park things.
And when you come back you'll have even more knowledge about Disney because you have stayed at a different resort and know more tricks, etc.

You know you will LOVE it:love: and have a great time. The great thing is ya'll will experience a NEW resort to love or know not to visit again:thumbsup2. But, the deco is supposed to be wonderful and the CM's rave about one of the pools.

I know we have said the we would like to try CBR or CSR next year. But, I am waiting to see what you and Dana think of the POP. Saving money on a room that we basically only sleep and bathe in is "ALWAYS A GOOD THING":woohoo:; more money to spend on FUN:banana:

I went to hop on over to your TR and your link is broken, it says????

I've been having trouble with lots of Dis threads today. Ginny's isn't the only one that give me the error page.

Okay, gang, photobucket is giving me problems again. It moved my Pop Century and Downtown Disney pictures somewhere. I am on page 32 and haven't found them yet. They used to be somewhere towards the front of my album. Sometimes, I hate photobucket.:headache:

Until I fiind the pictures, I'll just do what I do best.....talk. (well, type...whatever you know what I mean:laughing:)

After taking more pictures, we decided to walk over to Old Port Royale and do a little shopping. I can't remember exactly everything we bought but I remember a few things:

A green T-shirt for John. On the back, it had Mickey relaxing in a beach chair on the beach

A new Mickey wine glass for my mother because Hunter accidentally dropped the one we bought her from the year before.

A couple of Year of a Million Dreams antennae toppers

I know that Hunter bought something piratey but I can't remember what it was. I think it was one of those rubber ball and chains.

After we made our purchases, we walked back to our Martinique room to drop them off before catching a bus to Downtown Disney. I knew I wanted to do three things for sure. 1) See how the new T-Rex restaurant was coming along; 2) Go to Mickey Mart to see what kind of goodies I could find; 3) Shop in the World of Disney.

I'm on page 39 of photobucket and finally found one Downtown Disney picture.

This is a pic of T-Rex which was still under construction while we were there.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0397-1.jpg

*****SCREAMMMM!!!!***** I am now on page 45 of photobucket and still haven't found my other pictures. I did find this one of Hunter is 2007 when he got picked for a streetmosphere act that I thought I'd show you guys while I am scanning through photobucket:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/Scan_28.jpg

I'm gonna stop here because it's almost time to leave work and I've got to go shut everything down. I'll keep going through my pictures until I find what I need to finish this part up. Sorry....dumb ole' photobucket.

We have to eat at either Rainforest Cafe or Planet Hollywood each trip (with the exception of last August 'cause we simply didn't have the time or the money in the budget). I have an ADR to eat at T-Rex the night we arrive at Disney.

I really was okay with Pop . Not to say that I didn't want to stay at the CBR. I think it kind of became a mission to see if I could make it happen. Really and truly honestly, if they had told me $500.00 or more, I would have turned it down.

I was halfway through posting another trip report update and my computer totally shut down. I guess I'll have to start all over again. I think we may be having some power surges because it's so hot here. Today at lunch, it was 102.

I still haven't found some of my Downtown Disney photos but did find the ones of where we visited Pop.

I am SOOOOOOOOO excited for you!!! :cool1::banana:

I know you would have been okay at POP, but it's hard to go on vacation not getting exactly what you want. Now you know you'll be really happy (and you can still eat what you want!)

I've stayed at POP. It's okay. I'm in the minority that prefers the AllStars, actually (specifically the Sports because we're a big-into-sports family). But value resorts just aren't moderates.

They just aren't.

They are great for what they are...which is still Disney and still really cool and resonably priced...but they're not moderates.

I'm secretly really glad that we HAD to stay at a moderate this year ('cause with Cole we make 5). If Cole wasn't with us we'd have probably stayed value and saved the money. But we didn't have any choice. :thumbsup2

Question: Are you still going to do Cirque now that you're not saving the $500?

I'm so glad that you are going to T-REX, too. Awesome place. I like Rainforest pretty well, but I've only eaten at Planet Hollywood once. It wasn't a good experience and we haven't been back since.

And it really does make a difference staying where you want to stay. My first 2 trips we stayed at WLV and the third was at Saratoga. Lovely resort, but HUGE! It wasn't anything at all like Wilderness and I found myself missing it terribly. So, now you will KNOW this upcoming trip is going to be everything you want it to be. I'm totally happy for you!!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks for all the congrats. I think what happened is the first two castmembers weren't really listening to what I was saying. I was just trying to modify/upgrade the first reservation. When I got the castmember yesterday afternoon, I made sure that she really understood what I was trying to do. And I figured my saying that I'd be spending more money couldn't hurt.

To be perfectly honest, John and I were okay with staying at Pop until Lacey found out she could come along. I was scared we would be would have too much stuff in our room since we would now be three adults and a 12 year old and we'd feel packed in. But, there was no way in heck I was going to tell her that.

Will we still go to Cirque? That's still a very real possibility. It was never decided for sure that we would go. Our options were Cirque, renting some kind of watercraft, horseback riding or the new balloon thing at Downtown Disney.

I already have $864.00 of spending money saved. My boss gives me $100.00 cash each week. Why the cash? Because he wanted to give me a raise and by the time we took taxes out, I would be bringing home virtually none of it. So, he decided to give me cash. I didn't complain. Usually, that $100.00 is our entertainment and lunch money. You know like going out to eat, going to the movies, etc. Now, I'll probably put the majority of it in our vacation fund.

I haven't added Lacey to the reservation yet because I am afraid something will happen last minute and her leaders will tell her she HAS to be back in Georgia on time. If she goes on the trip with us, she will be going back three days late. That wouldn't be a problem if she wasn't group/apartment leader and she was not the only returning female student. I already know that it will cost $660.00 to add her to the reservation. I have that money set aside already.

I think we go to Rainforest Cafe and Planet Hollywood mostly for the kids. We have always gotten fairly good service at both places. Hunter and Lacey are eating at Planet Hollywood by themselves this go round so that John and I can go to the Grand Floridian Cafe for our anniversary dinner. I feel like such a bad parent for leaving them to themselves even if they are 22 and 12. Our plan it to meet back up at Downtown Disney and do Disney Quest or shop.

Oh by the way, we aren't telling Hunter or Lacey that we have upgraded to the CBR. We are just going to pull up to the Caribbean Beach instead of Pop Century so this is another semi-surprise trip.

I tried three times last night to get more pictures posted. Like I said, we are having some super high temperatures here (today's high is supposed to be 100) and I think we are having mini powersurges. I will try my best to get back to the trip report during my lunch hour.

I've been in the legal field for a little over 26 years now so I've known my new boss for many many years. Remember the whole story of why I left my old job that I posted quite a while ago? Well, I went to my new boss for legal advise on what to do. When I called him and asked if I could come by and talk, he said "Do you want a job? My secretary left me a note yesterday saying she wasn't coming back and wasn't cut out for the job." Both he and I were kind of in a "desperate" mode so it worked out just perfectly. He told me to take a week off before starting to work for him and now the two of us are perfectly happy.

I'm am definitely not trying to toot my own horn here but I know what I am doing. I can get stuff off my desk in no time. I am a great people person so his business is booming. His previous secretary(ies) were pieces of poop (turn over in the legal business is outrageous) so I guess my record looked pretty good to him. I love getting the $100.00 cash. Uncle Sam doesn't have to know anything about it and I get extra money in my pocket.

I am all over the surprise aspect of this trip. Lacey has only stayed onsite once and it was at the CBR. Hunter has stayed three times and all three were at the CBR. I thought I'd never get another chance to surprise the kids but now I do!

I actually went to counseling at our church when I was going through the problems at my old employment. I had to make some really tough decisions and in the end decided to take the high road and let nature take it's course. Once I made that decision, everything fell in place. I was chatting with Momof2Disneyboys (an avid CBR fan) earlier today and I kept asking her if she had heard that I upgraded (I knew that she had but I wanted to tease her.). I think I asked her two or three times I was so excited.

I knew that it was a longshot getting the upgrade but I wanted to try just one more time before I gave up. I really think it was because I worded my request just right and the third castmember really listened to what I had to say.

We are 99% sure that Lacey's coming along but I am holding out to the last minute to add her just in case. At least I know I already have the money set aside.

Honey child, I know that I am blessed with my new boss. He's the kind that tells you when you do a good job and has no problem acting like he's my equal...not above me. And, the extra money doesn't hurt either!:yay:

Two or three times??? Try five or six times (in about 5 minutes!)! :rotfl2:

I sure hope Lacey is able to come! :wizard: And it will be a great surprise for her and Hunter getting to go to CBR! :thumbsup2

Yeah for you!:cheer2: I'm so happy you get to go back to your Disney home!

You had the same thoughts I had this go round. We've stayed at CBR, CSR, WLV, and POR. I liked POR but thought it looked too much like home. WLV is out of my price range! (we got to stay there when we we "stuck" in Disney due to Hurricane Rita hitting Houston when we were due to arrive home. ALWAYS get the travel insurance!!!! All 3 days at the WLV and our food was covered.) We stayed at CBR our first time and didn't know enough to mind being stuck out in the furthest building from the main building. So we never really spend much time in the heart of the resort. We loved CSR and DH loves the Pepper Market enough to base his resort choice on that alone:laughing:.

So....I thought this time since we are not really in the room that much to just stay Value. Well, now since a certain someone upgraded and planted to idea in my Disney obsessed brain and... I'm off to see what I can do.

They sure do and we are stuck with traveling Friday and back on Sunday. You have a great 4th if we don't chat again.

Now that I've told everyone that can possibly give a care that I upgraded to the CBR....

Hey Momof2Disneyboys, did I tell you I upgraded to the CBR? :rotfl2:....

Anyway, now that I've told you guys all about my upgrade, let's get back to what you actually signed on for....a trip report.

Once I had pictures of the new T-Rex restaurant construction, we made our way towards the Lego Store, World of Disney and Mickey Mart. First stop was the Lego Store. Here's a picture of Hunter with this groovy looking Lego guy. Hunter has this look on his face because some little boy had just run by and accidentally stepped on Hunter's foot...thus the "hurry up and take this freakin' picture because I want to say OWWW!" look:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0396-1.jpg

After much looking around, Hunter decided there wasn't anything in the store that he really wanted to spend his money on so we just picked up one of the free Lego magazine/catalog things and were off to the World of Disney.

For the last two years, John had bought a hat/t-shirt golf combo at the World of Disney store. He just loves them. I don't know really know why 'cause he doesn't care anything about golf and has never even been on a golf course but he said they fit good.:confused3

Now I don't know about you guys but when we go to this store, there is no way in the world we can keep up with each other. Usually, Hunter goes off with his best buddy and I go off alone. John's mission was to find the hat/shirt combo. Hunter's mission was to find a toy, any toy. My mission was to find my boss a 3x t-shirt and I wanted a new wallet.

John and I also like to buy little things for each other that we don't know about and then surprise each other later in the vacation. It's so funny because we do this every year but still sneak around doing it. Why do we sneak when we both know? I don't know. I guess we're just weird? Oh, and we also had to find something for Lacey.

John called me after about 30 minutes to say he had found some 3x t-shirts and for me to head over to the Men's section and take a look. There were only about 3 designs to choose from in the large sizes. One was Donald. One just said Walt Disney World. The last was Grumpy. My boss is the grumpiest person I have ever met in the morning (never to me thankfully) so I chose the Grumpy one. That decision having been made, we continued to look around for John's hat/shirt combo and finally found it tucked way in the corner. Another item to mark off the list.

Now, it was Hunter's turn to find something and we made our way through the crowded store to the boy section. On our way through the store, I spotted Peter Pan soaring high above me.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0393-1.jpg

Wendy and John were flying around up there too and I took their picture but I can't find it on photobucket. I'll keep looking and post those later.

Hunter finally found the Disney characters dressed as Star Wars characters and decided to get a couple of those. He was really saving his money to build a lightsaber at Once Upon A Toy. We also bought him the little packages of collectible itty bitty figures. They come in different themes. You don't know what you are getting. They cost just $5.00 and you can trade them. Gosh, I can't remember what they are called. I'll go home and see if I can find one of the packages and post it later.

I didn't find a wallet but did have a few other things I found that I just had to have.

After about 2 hours in the store, we all had our finds and were on our way to the checkout. While standing in line, I saw that they were having one of those "spend such and such amount of money and get this rolling duffle bag for just $20.00". Suckers that we are, we bought a rolling duffle bag too. Hunter kept his Star Wars figures but we sent everything else to the resort. I love resort package pickup.:lovestruc

And then we're off towards Once Upon A Toy but not before stopping at a few other stores along the way. We didn't buy anything but did get a really good laugh when we remembered something Hunter had done to Lacey many years ago. This is a little how shall I say it.....detailed.....so I'm warning you now.

Hunter was about 5 or so and had gotten mad at Lacey for something while we were shopping at Downtown Disney. Who knows what for. Anyway, they were puffed up at each other for about half an hour and Hunter finally said "give me a hug" to Lacey. They hugged and we went on our merry shopping way. We went through two stores and in our third store, Lacey turned around where I could see her back and there was a huge streak down the back of Lacey's black shirt. I looked closer and it was a dried booger. Hunter had wiped it down her back when he hugged her as a way of getting back at her! It wasn't funny to Lacey and I had to get on to Hunter but later it was really funny.

Ahhh! McBride Family Memories!:rotfl2:

Okay, back to the present story. We left the other shops without buying a single thing and went on down to Once Upon A Toy. Hunter was ready to build his lightsaber. He had been waiting all year to do it. I couldn't figure out how to do it. John couldn't figure out how to do it. Hunter kind of knew how to do it but I got a castmember to come over just to make sure we were doing it right. He built one that was a double lightsaber. It's really neat. The only thing it doesn't do is light up because it has the two extendable things on it.

I have two sisters and they each have two children and the list of nieces and nephew continues to grow so we draw names for Christmas. For those of you not familiar with this, let me explain. We put everybody's name on a slip of paper and each person draws out a slip. We have four people in our family so I draw out four names. Those are the four people that I buy Christmas presents for. With the family being so large, it's just monetarily impossible to buy a gift for each person. Thus, we draw names.

I had drawn out my two nephews names so I bought them each a lighsaber since they are brothers and just 13 months apart in age. I wouldn't dare get them something different for them to fight over.

I also bought some small items for John's niece and nephew since they brought us something back from their Disney trip.

Now that our pocketbooks were a bit lighter, we went to Mickey Mart. I absolutely love Mickey Mart. Everything is under $10.00! I can also usually find some stuff to sell on Ebay at Mickey Mart. We came out of the store with three huge bags of stuff and had it sent to the resort package pickup as well.

After this much shopping, we wanted something to drink so we snuck into Goofy's and bought a drink and some cotton candy.

Sometime during our walk around the CBR and DTD, we decided we wanted to go see Wilderness Lodge and Pop Century since these were the two places we had previously wanted to stay. We went to the bus stop and waited on whichever bus came first. Wilderness Lodge came first so we hopped on. When we pulled up to the Wilderness Lodge, the first thing I saw was the gorgeous lodge itself. We made our way up the pathway and walked into the massive doors. The lodge itself was so pretty. We walked all through the lodge, shopped in the store, looked around the resort grounds, looked at their food court, etc. But, I wasn't blown away. And I didn't take one single picture. Hum?:confused3

We caught the bus back to DTD and lucked out when a CBR bus pulled up about 5 minutes later. We made a bathroom stop and decided we'd just drive our car to Pop Century. The drive took just a few minutes. I didn't realize it was so close to the CBR. We told the guard we were there to take a look around, he looked at our driver's license and told us to go on through. The resort is really cute. We went through the main building and walked all around. Here are a few pictures that we took.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0639.jpg

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0641.jpg

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0646.jpg

Our tummies were talking to us about now since we hadn't eaten anything since our morning snacks so off we went to the Pop food court. Hunter got a pizza. I got a chicken caesar salad. John got a vegetable sandwich/pizza thing. We didn't want anything too heavy since we would be going back to Downtown Disney to eat at Rainforest Cafe that night.

Then, it started to rain. I mean really rain. Hard! So what's a good Disney lover to do while it rains? Shop! The store had a lot to choose from and I think I remember buying a few small things. Since it was still raining, we walked around and looked at the displays in the check-in area. The rain had just about stopped and we made a dash for the car. We went back to the CBR for a nice afternoon rest.

Next up, another trip to DTD.

I'm planning on pre buying souvenirs for my kids before we go. I was going to get my son a Build Your Own lightsaber kits from Hastings or Toys R Us. We're on a really tight budget and my kids are really understanding about that sort of thing- they rarely ask for stuff. Anyhoo- is Downtown Disney the only place you can build your own lightsaber? And is it worth the extra money to let him have the experience?

Great update. You guys even have fun on non-park days.

My boys are TOTALLY going to do the build a lightsaber thing. I haven't told them we're going, so obviously I haven't told them about this, but they will be doing it. They would buy one of the $5 ones every time we went to the store if I let them (of course I don't!). Do you remember how much it costs? I want to make sure they are bringing enough for that plus a few other small things.

I've stayed at POP once and it was cute. I forgot how cute. But we still love ASSp (:rotfl: I totally didn't realize what the initials for that resort spell and I only got *** so I had to come back and add the "p" :rotfl2:). And ASM for that matter. I'm really looking forward to POR though.

I totally wish I was bringing enough money to shop and shop, but I know I'm going to have to be choosy. Still, it's even fun to browse at Disney.

And thanks for the TRex picture. We're doing it this time too. I ordered a giftcard from their website so that money is already taken care of too and I KNOW we're going. We usually do Rainforest cafe, but don't have it planned this time. We might do Planet Hollywood. We have reservations, but will have to pay OOP, so I'm not sure if we'll be able to do it. Even with the free $15 they give you (now if I could use 3 of those at once I'd be set b/c I know my parents and my brother won't be using theirs...but I'm sure we can't).

Anyway, before I highjack your thread, can't wait for the next installment!

How sweet! I don't think your little guy will care which value you stay in because all of them have really great themes.

It seems like I remember seeing them in one of the theme parks but I can't for the life of me remember where. If I had to guess, I'd say it was probably at Hollywood Studios. I think it's definitely worth the extra money to build the lightsaber. They let Hunter pick two different color changing things and two of the little rock things that make it change sounds. He plays with it all the time.

I also pick up lots of Disney things before we go on vacation. Especially the temporary tattoos and glow sticks that I find at Dollar Tree.

When Hunter was younger, I would buy him the light up spinning toys that were handheld on our first day in the park. I'd pack it in the backpack every day and would pull it out mid-day. Helped cut down on "I want that." or "Can I have that?"

Great update. You guys even have fun on non-park days.

You are not hijacking the thread. Who ever heard of such? Certainly not me.

I don't remember how much it was to build the lightsaber but I think it was between $15 and $20. You also get the batteries and both years Hunter made them, they also gave him a pin. They asked him if he wanted to be the good guy or the bad guy. Then, gave him the pin. I am so not up on what Star Wars characters are or I would tell you which ones he got.

I probably won't spend all the money I have saved upon just on shopping. We'll use some of it for gas and the hotel we stop out during the drive to Disney. I just like knowing I have it saved in case I do want to shop.:thumbsup2

I haven't decided if I want Lacey and Hunter to use the dining plan credit for their Planet Hollywood meal or save it and see if the CBR castmembers will let us trade the table service credits for a couple of breakfasts in the food court. If we pay out of pocket for the meal, they can use the $15.00 voucher. They probably will share their dessert and they aren't really big eaters so I figure their bill won't be too much anyway.

I've been thinking about joining the club thing they have on the T-Rex/Rainforest Cafe website. From what I hear, you get a free appetizer and you get priority seating. I don't know if that's true for the Downtown Disney location though.

Yea, I did get the upgrade and for under $500.00 too. When we drove to Pop from CBR, the drive was super short. I know that you can see the bowling pins in the 50's sections from the end of one of the CBR villages. I wonder if that's where the path is?

Sweet! The lightsabers will be no problem then. All three boys are getting $100 to spend for the week (Cole will probably not build the lightsaber as he isn't really into Star Wars...though he might when the other two do). If asked, both of my boys will choose to be the "bad guy".

I am a member of the Rainforest Cafe club. It's really pretty cool. I paid $10 a really long time ago (like before my kids were born) and I get priority seating and I think either a free appetizer or 10% off my bill. I think they also send coupons on birthdays and anniversaries and stuff, but they didn't have my correct infomation when I went to look a couple weeks ago.

However, it is only for Rainforest Cafe (unless something has changed recently). I went to look at the TRex site and they don't have a club. They are owned by the same company, but I think the club is just for Rainforest Cafe (not positive, I would certainly LOVE to hear it works at TRex too).

We don't have ADRs for Rainforest this time...though the more I hear about it, the more I'm thinking of trying to fit it in somewhere. We'll see.

That would be great. Is any of your family Swiss? My grandad came here in 1892. Married in 1907 at the ripe old age of 35 and they had 8 kids. He was 92 when he died. I remember him quite well.

There were 9 of us and we used 3 cards all on one ticket and my girls split the ticket and paid. Our server was wonderful and the food was delish.

Sorry Lisa, didn't mean to interrupt.

I've been thinking about joining the club thing they have on the T-Rex/Rainforest Cafe website. From what I hear, you get a free appetizer and you get priority seating. I don't know if that's true for the Downtown Disney location though.

When Sandi lived in Minneapolis (close to Mall of America) She joined at the Rainforest and it is well worth it. You can use that card at any of their places.

I am packing sort of. Just cleaned the kitchen from cooking dinner for 8 of us. Austin invited a friend.

Have a great Holiday weekend.

I finally got caught up again:thumbsup2 Another great update!! It sounds like you had a successful shopping trip.:goodvibes Oh..and Congrats on getting CBR!! That's great!!! It sounds like you really love it there--I'm so happy for you!! I definitely know what you mean being concerned with the room size at Pop. We love it there, but the boys are getting bigger and realistically in another few years we will really have no choice but to stay at a Moderate. (which is fine with me--love Pop but ready for a change.;))

That would be great. Is any of your family Swiss? My grandad came here in 1892. Married in 1907 at the ripe old age of 35 and they had 8 kids. He was 92 when he died. I remember him quite well.

I have a mix of nationalities in my family. Word/rumor is we are related to the Kennedy family although sometimes I don't know if we want to mention that. Actually, I would if they'd throw a little of that Kennedy money our way.:thumbsup2

Hope you wild and crazy guys have a good holiday!

Like I said before, my real worries about Pop didn't set in until Lacey said she was coming along. Then, I started thinking abour room size most of all. Even though we aren't in the room much, there would be 4 of us with enough clothes and stuff to last us 10 days. Really, more than 10 days because I would have extra clothes and travel day clothes too.

Next year, we may just book a stay at Pop. It all depends on what Lacey's situation is. She has one more year of missionary college. By this time next year, she will be Reverend Lacey.

I need to sign off for now. I need to get more stuff listed on ebay in the hope that I can make up that extra money I just paid to upgrade. And, when John and Hunter wake up, I think we're off to the mall to find John some new tennis shoes. He better hurry up and get some so he can get them broke in before heading to Disney World.

Another great update! :cool1: You never disappoint, Lisa!

First of all, I never saw the "booger" coming! Way to go, Hunter! That's such a boy thing to do...

And secondly, I am so happy for you that you got all that shopping in. I'm usually a tight-wad, but not at Disney. My DH is not generally a tight-wad, but for some reason, becomes one at Disney. I think between the tickets and cost of meals, it may be a bit of an overload for him... Frustrating to say the least b/c I LIKE bringing home souvenirs, but he got mad when I spent $20 on a T-shirt. :confused3

I was able to spend a bit more when he didn't go with us last time, he he!!! Serves him right for not going! ;)

Hunter was a little "booger" that trip. :lmao: Actually, he and Lacey get along real well. They were probably tired that day and were fussing. So, he did a little secretive booger wipe.

I really am not a real shopping kind of girl except for when I am Disney shopping and then I get all excited. John isn't a tightwad at all at Disney either. I guess we figure it's a one time a year trip so we can spend a little more than we would at home.

Thanks! Can you tell we are excited? Now, I just have to keep my mouth shut for a little over a month so we can surprise the kids.

My boss is a sweetheart. He's funny because he's all act when he's in the courtroom or trying to intimidate another attorney but then he's as sweet as can be to those he really likes.

:rotfl: Secretive booger wipe.

I'm not a big shopper either, but like you, I get excited at Disney, too. It's all that Disney related merchandise that just sends me into "spend your money" mode. And guess what? They have these new milks at Wal-Mart (chocolate and strawberry) and they have Mickey, Pluto, Donald and Goofy on them!

You know I just had to buy those for DS4. Why? Because they had Mickey on them!!!! No other reason needed,.

:yay:For the upgrading to CBR! So glad you were able to do that. We love deluxe resorts but did also stay at Pop(3night) and CBR last October. You might already know we liked CBR way better. It's so pretty and relaxing, even monorail snob DD liked it. Pop was just kind of busy and the rooms are tiny. Still it was clean and the foodcourt was fun. It's fine if your not at the resort and stay in the parks all day. But for longer trips it's CBR or deluxe for us. Your trip is getting close :goodvibes.

I'm frustrated as can be with photobucket because now I can't find my Rainforest Cafe pictures. I'll go ahead and write the rest of our rest/relax/shopping day without Rainforest Cafe pictures. But, I can tell you that all of my Animal Kingdom pictures are there and I have tons of them. And, guess what, Animal Kingdom is the next day of our trip!

I have already told ya'll that I'm not a rest and relax kind of girl when I'm on vacation. Neither is Hunter. Now, John, he could just laze around for several hours a day and be perfectly content. Even at Walt Disney World. :confused3

We did lay down on the bed for a while. John went to sleep immediately. Hunter played his PSP and watched television. I watched a little television with Hunter and then started straightening the room. I always say our mousekeeper probably loves me. We are pretty neat travelers. I keep all of the garbage in the garbage cans, pile all of the dirty towels and washclothes in one pile, etc.

After an hour, I couldn't stand it and told Hunter that I was going to walk around the resort and probably go to the store. He wanted to go too. I punched John in the shoulder and told him we were going out. He just mumbled okay. With camera and wallet in hand, off we went.

The first thing we wanted to do was walk all the way round the resort promenade. At times, the walkway is wooden and goes through a small wooded area. The walk is a great way to see the other areas of the resort since each village has different color buildings and some have small playgrounds. I told Hunter that when we got to Trinidad South, I was going to time the walk because everybody complains about how long the walk is. So, when we got to the village, I started timing on my cute little Tinkerbell watch. How long was the walk to Old Port Royale you ask? 6 1/2 minutes! What the heck are they complaining about?

We go into Old Port Royale and Hunter played a steel drum that we found tucked away in the corner of the store. It was a neat find. Then he wanted to play in the arcade for a while. That boy could play the Jurassic Park game forever. After half an hour, I told him to call it quits and play something else. He played another 15 or 20 minutes and his card didnt' have enough credits on it to play another game. Great time to stop.

Before we headed back to the room, Hunter wanted to see if there was something he might just have to have from the grab-n-go section of the food court. We still had a couple of hours before we were to be at Rainforest Cafe. Hunter found a big cinnamon roll which we warmed up in the microwave. I got John a carrot cake and I got a little bowl of fruit. We paid for our snacks and strolled back to the room. Of course, when we got back, John was still snoring away. Man! That man can cut some really loud ZZZZZs. I woke him up to take his afternoon meds and eat his cake.

Our snacks hit the spot and we were ready to get back to Downtown Disney to look around before it was time for dinner. Since it was pretty hot that day and we had gotten wet from the shower earlier in the day, we changed our clothes so we would feel refreshed .....which is a nice way of saying we didn't wanna stink.

We walked the short distance to the Martinique bus stop. Did I tell ya'll how much I love the fact that each village has a bus stop? Well, I do. It's so convenient. We lucked out again because a Downtown Disney bus was the first bus to come around and it wasn't very full. We did have to make a trip through Typhoon Lagoon before going to Downtown Disney but it didn't make the ride too long.

We decided that the first place to go was Basin. I don't know if you've ever been there but it smells fantastic in there. I bet I smelled everything in the place. We bought Lacey an organic bar of hair shampoo. I had never seen shampoo that looked like a bar of soap.

Next stop was Ghiradelli's to get a free chocolate bar. I forgot to tell ya'll that we went there earlier in the day too. The sample bar then was mint. This time it was caramel. What a cheap treat! You can't beat free!

I don't remember everywhere else we went before checking in at Rainforest Cafe but I think it was the pin store and the Christmas store. Didn't buy a single thing.

We checked in at the elephant and were shown the line to stand in. We didn't wait anytime at all before we were seated in the elephant room. John ordered the sampler appetizer plate for his entree. Hunter ordered the pizza. I think that boy could exist on pizza. I had some sort of salad. I can't remember what it was but it HUGE. After our meal, we took a minute to shop in the Rainforest store and found a few t-shirts on sale but nothing in there was a "I gotta have that!" so we walked away with no purchases.

Since we were stuffed from our dinner, we decided to walk all the way down to the other end of Downtown Disney. It was getting busy by this time of night but it wasn't too bad. We mostly just strolled. I took a picture of Hunter with Zoltar from the movie Big. I didn't notice until we came home that there was a sign saying no pictures. Oh well. We watched them make candy at the candy store. We saw some magnets in the magnet store.

And then we went to Virgin Megastore. That store terrifies me. I am super duper pooper scooper scared of heights. Have you ever been on the Virgin Megastore escalator? Well, it's glass on both sides and it goes up to the second floor. You can see everything, everywhere. :sad1: heart was beating a mile a minute. I get off and look around and the walls of the second floor are glass. You can see all the way downstairs. My heart rate accelerates even more. I am literally standing with my back to the store shelves and feeling my way around because I am about to have a heart attack. I turn a corner and OH MY GOODNESS! the floor is glass and you can see all the way down! :scared: I swear I think I threw up in my mouth a little bit before I held onto my chest and scrambled my way to the back of the store.

Now, call me a bad mother but I totally lost Hunter because of my strokeout. I knew what section I left him in so I called John and told him he had to come get Hunter. I just couldn't do it. I simply sat on my butt in the book section and waited for John to come to the rescue. When John and Hunter find me they are laughing, of course. I called them butthead fartfaces and told them I was ready to get out of the store. They could follow me out or they could find me later. I guess I was too mad or maybe too sick to notice that I was going down the glass escalator because the next thing I knew, I was sitting on a bench across from the Virgin Megastore. John and Hunter called me about 15 minutes later wanting to know where I was. They found me outside and I guess they could tell from the look on my face that they better not crack a smile because they didn't. They simply asked "where to next?"

We took a vote and it was decided to go back to the resort and let Hunter swim a while. Our wait for the bus was about 20 minutes but once we got on the bus, we were back at the CBR in no time.

Hunter immediately changed into his swim trunks and we walked to the Martinique quiet pool. He found some friends to swim with. Now, up until this point, you will recall that Hunter hasn't had anything happen to him. Well, now it's his turn. He and his friends were jumping in to the pool and were having a grand old time when Hunter came up with the strangest look on his face. He hobbled over to John and whispered something into his ear. John doesn't have the best hearing because of all the loud machines he works around. So, John had to make Hunter repeat it three times before he understood. "Somebody kicked you in your goov?" "DAD Don't say it out loud!" Hunter yelled.

For those of you wondering what's a goov? Hum......let's see......it's your manly parts. Yeah! He got kicked right there! He sat down in the chair for a little while and tried not to grimace too much. Soon after, he was okay and back in the pool. Here are a few post goov kick pictures:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0494-1.jpg

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0497-1.jpg

It was getting late so we decided to call it a night a little while later. We got ready for bed because the next day was Animal Kingdom day.

With the exception of the semi heart attack/stroke/breakdown I suffered in Virgin MegaStore and the goov kick, it was a relaxing restful day.

Well you will be happy to know that Virgin is closed (Gwendolyn & Dayne were hoping it was still going to be an outlet when we went--no luck!) and the rumor is they are turning it in to a "Princess Di" museum hmmmmm!!!

My dad is afraid of heights like that...once when we went to the Royal Gorge in Co we rode a gondola type car that went from one side the gorge to the other he was sitting on the floor in the middle holding his head and eyes closed shut... I recently asked if he wanted to go on the new glass walk way over the Grand Canyon he asked Danny what he had hit me in the head with... LOL!!!

Swimming at night to end the day...that is what I love...sorry to hear Hunter had something happen to him ...ouch...

I heard about the Pincess Di museum too. They have an article about it on the allearsnet website. If I go there, everything will have to be on the bottom floor or I will have to find an elevator.

Tell your dad not to feel bad. When I was in the 6th grade we went to Six Flags Over Texas and back then they had a gondola that went from one side of the park to the other. I got on it but quickly realized I hated it. I sat on the floor and didn't look out anywhere. As far as walking out over the Grand Canyon, absolutely not!

We didn't swim a lot on this trip because we were so busy trying to fit everything into a short period of time.

Goov.... :lmao:(Not that he was kicked but...well, you know, GOOV!:lmao:)

I know. It wasn't funny right that second but was definitely funny later that evening.

I see you will be at the CBR in August. What are your dates? We will be there August 6th through 15th.

I love the Animal Kingdom as do my kids. John thinks it's just okay.

If I ever inherit any of the Kennedy money, you'll be at the top of "pass money out to..." list.

We decided to just sit around and do a whole lotta nothin' today. I did do a head-to-toe cleanup of the car. I mean shampooed the seats, armor-all the dash, wipe the windows clean. We are going to see my daughter graduate on July 18th and I don't like to drive a long way in a dirty car. I figured I better do it now since I had the day off. We are taking my 75 year old mother to see Ice Age 3D tonight. She loves to watch Ice Age with Hunter and could hardly wait for the new movie to come out.

Thanks for timing your walk to Old Port Royale!!We're really considering a moderate next year and I love the looks of CBR (thanks to all your pictures:goodvibes) But I keep reading how spread out the resort is and how far a walk it is to everything. I also didn't know each village has a bus stop.:confused3 Boy, I need to do some more research!!:rolleyes1 Thanks for all the info!!

I've never been to Basin in DTD before, but I look at it longingly every time we walk by. I can never convince my guys to walk over there with me.:confused3 They are always too busy trying to pull us over to the Lego store. I will have to check out Ghiradelli's--I didn't realize they gave out free samples--yum!!

Oh my....I would have been scared in Virgin Megastore also. I do not like heights either. There is a glass elevator at a mall that we go to occasionally and even though the boys love riding in it--I always opt for the escalator or the stairs. A glass floor...:scared1:

Okay, now I'm looking forward to your Animal Kingdom day!!!:goodvibes

I read a lot of people complaining about how long the walk to Old Port Royale was from the new pirate rooms or from their building in another village so I just decided to time it and see what the big deal was. As you can see, it really wasn't a big deal.

One of the things that John and I like about the CBR is the fact that it is spread out. The guests are distributed all throughout the resort meaning that the resort doesn't feel crowded at all.

I also like having a bus stop at each village. You never have far to walk to or from your room. Yes, you have to make stops around the resort before heading out to the parks but it really isn't a big deal. When we stayed in the Jamaica village, we got on the bus, sat down and made our way around the resort and then pulled into the Hollywood Studios parking lot all in just 11 minutes. How can anyone complain about 11 minutes?

John and Hunter will go into Basin with me and they don't complain. They are really pretty good shoppers. They usually just wander around the store smelling of stuff while I pick up a few things.

It's amazing how many people didn't know that Ghiradelli's gives out the free samples. We didn't know it the first time we went in several years ago. They gave us all samples and we were instantly hooked. Now, it's one of those places that we have to visit, free samples or not.

I really thought I could handle the escalator at Virgin MegaStore. All I had to do was keep my eyes straight forward and I'd be okay. And I might have been okay if I hadn't gotten to the second floor and all the walls glass, sections of the floor were glass. I just went into sensory overload and couldn't stand it!

I hope to get at least a little of our Animal Kingdom day posted today.

My moms company makes those. Every so often she will bring some to us. They won an award for those from Disney!

How cool is that?!?! What was the name of the company? I can't remember and how WalMart doesn't carry them anymore.

Hooray for your budget upgrade:thumbsup2

We are not going back to the world until next year:sad1: I'm working on DH to go on more frequent trips, he's just such a tightwad at heart:hug: Totally at odds with my wanting to go to WDW every chance I get:headache:

How long is your drive from LA? We are thinking about driving next year and visit some friends in Gerogia on the way.

I had it in my mind that the upgrade had to be less than $500.00 or we weren't going to do it. I was super excited that it was under budget!

We know we are going to Disney World each Summer so I pay on our vacation all year long. That way, it doesn't feel like it costs so much. I love the fact that Disney will let you pay on your vacation a little at a time. Makes it seem like you have a Disney World vacation on layaway.

Our drive from Louisiana to Disney takes between 14 and 16 hours. It all depends on the weather and traffic. Our first drive to Disney was when our son was 1 and our daughter was 11. Needless to say, we stopped quite a bit and let the kids stretch their legs. Even now that they are older (12 and 22), we still like to take breaks while driving. We could probably get there in a little less time but it would make the drive more stressful if everybody is tired and ready to get out of the car.

What a nice day "off". :goodvibes I hope you find your Rainforest pics.

I can totally relate to the "afraid of heights" thing. It's funny. For me it seems to be getting worse the older I get. I remember being on the Empire State Building in high school and not liking the view down but nothing else bothered me that much. Now I find myself afraid a lot more often. Usually it's when I picture myself falling from said "height". I've been in the Virgin Megastore before and it never bothered me. Probably because I couldn't really see myself falling through the floor. I guess it's not really the height as much as I'm afraid of falling. :confused3

:rotfl: about the word "goov". How did that word come about?

I didn't know about the Gheradelli samples either, but I will totally be taking advantage on our next trip! One of the mom's on the ball team is from the San Fransisco area and she was talking about the Gheradelli there. I said that it's the ONLY place I will eat a hot fudge sundae. I love chocolate, but I do not like hot fudge for some reason. Too rich, I guess. But one time when we were at Disney my family (this was when I was younger, before getting married I believe) got one to share and I LOVED it. Ahhh chocolate and Disney.

Can't wait for your Animal Kingdom day. I love AK too...though I'm not sure I could even PICK a favorite park. :)

Oh the heights thing has always been there and gets worse every day. I don't even like it when I see somebody near the balcony of a hotel. Oh, it just gives me the tingles all over.

I don't know if it's just a Southern thing or what but most little boys call their you-know-what a "goober". Hunter would get embarassed if we said that so we said how about "goov" and he said yes. I guess he figured nobody would know what we were talking about if we said "goov".

I guess if nobody gets anything out of my trip report but a few laughts and the knowledge that Ghiradelli's gives out free samples, then I have accomplished something!

I was about to start an installment of our Animal Kingdom day when I found a few of my Downtown Disney pictures on Photobucket. Their site has been giving me fits lately.

Here are a couple of Wendy and John flying around the World of Disney Store. The one of Wendy is a little fuzzy:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0394-1.jpg

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0395-1.jpg

I have no idea what the heck John was saying to Hunter but apparently he was talking out the side of his mouth:laughing::

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_1030-1.jpg

This is John's appetizer plate as an entree. Everything was really really good:

And a closeup shot of my salad. I don't know why in the world I didn't just give John the camera and ask him to take the picture.:confused3

Let's see....when I left off, Hunter had gone swimming and had some boy kick him in the "goov" by accident. Ouch! We hit the bed a little earlier than normal because we knew Animal Kingdom was open at 8:00 a.m. the next morning.

Stitch called and woke me up and it didn't take too much to get Hunter to wake up. John, on the other hand, was a whole different story. Animal Kingdom isn't his favorite park so I don't think he really cared whether or not he got there at rope drop. After about 15 minutes of pinching, poking and pushing, he said "Just leave me here and I'll meet ya'll later." So, I gave him his morning medicine and let him go back to sleep while Hunter and I continued getting ready for the day.

I looked outside before we headed out and it looked like rain so the ponchos went into the backpack even John's (which I realized was a stupid move later in the day). And out the door we went, leaving John snoozing away.

We were on the bus a little before 8:00 a.m. The bus can pretty quickly and next thing we knew we were here:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0827-1.jpg

First thing on our list was Kilimanjaro Safari. But, first, we ran into Terk who saw Hunter's birthday pin and decided everybody in line needed to sing and dance for Hunter's birthday. It was fun!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0830.jpg

After we got a little singin' and dancin' out of our system, Terk signed Hunter's hat and posed for a picture.

I loved DTD. We did not get to do as much as we wanted because of .....well, you know...............RAIN!

But I sure enjoyed shopping. Spent a lot. Loved having everything shipped to resort.

Yummo food. Making me hungry. It is close to lunch. Would you just bebop on over and get something shipped to me real quick?

It is certainly the Monday after a Holiday in this office. I work for a Psychiatrist. So Holidays and full moons are obnoxious around here.

In 2007, our Downtown Disney trip was a total flood. It was just awful. We had on our ponchos and we still got wet. Not just our feet and legs, our whole body!

For years and years, we never went to Downtown Disney. But, after that first time, we were hooked. It's a fantastic place to shop even if it's window shopping.

When I was posting the pictures of the food, it was right before lunch and my stomach, literally, growled when I looked at that salad.

I totally understand the Monday after a holiday and the full moon situation. I work for an attorney and we hate holidays. There is so much fussing and fighting around the holidays. Full moons? They are the absolute worse time!

The little boy that accidentally hit Hunter did come up and say he was sorry. I know he didn't mean to but he could have been a little more conscious of his surroundings. He jumped right onto Hunter.

You're probably right on the money with your "I can see where this is going" remark.

My kids absolutely love the characters. And, you already know what John thinks of Pocahontas!:rotfl2:

Yes, because we were not smart. We didn't buy ponchos till Day 4.

As did my men. They looked everywhere for her at AK and as we (all except Don and Mike) were riding EE they found her. No pics but they sure had big smiles on their faces when we got off. I was mad cause they didn't see me when I climbed the top of that mountain and they missed my whole scream all the way down. Everyone else managed to hear it quite well.

I just realized that I forgot to share my ghost experiences over the last several days.

I know that everybody knows about the door with the bells that keeps opening by itself. It's near our copy machine. The other day, I was making copies when the door just opened by itself. Hum? Then I realized, the bells didn't ring! And I smelled cigarette smoke! I think I'll name that ghost "Smokey".

Also last week, my boss kept misplacing his pens and his letter openers. He always keeps at least two of his green ink pens on the desk and one letter opener. You know where he found them? In his desk. No big deal you say? The desk was locked!

And, this morning when I came into my office and sat my things down and then I did my morning rituals....turn on copy machine, check the back door ('cause I wanna make sure it's closed), turn on the fax machine, etc. etc. I came back into my office and imagine my surprise when I saw a law book lying on the floor. It was the same exact one that was on the floor last time. It wasn't open, it wasn't turned all ascew, it was lying perfectly on the floor. The shelf it sits on has my snowglobes on it too. They were in the exact same spot as they were when I left Thursday afternoon.

You'll remember that this is the same law book that fell before and it referred to the defamation of an attorney, etc. Well, over the long weekend, several things happened between my boss and the co-owners of the other building. It's just too coincidental to not be creepy!

I left the book on the floor exactly as I found it and I'm bringing my camera to work with me tomorrow so I can take a picture.

After our impromptu sing and dance along, we walked on over to Kilimajaro Safari which had just a 10 minute wait. I've never seen just a 10 minute wait for the safari so we were super excited. It was beginning to drizzle a little but it didn't stop the animals from being out and about. As a matter of fact, I think we saw more animals this time than ever before.

I was really surprised that everybody wasn't going straight for the Pangani Trail as we've usually seen them do. I guess everybody was going back to ride Expedition Everest.

Everybody knows that the real stars of the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail are the gorillas but there are a few things to stop and look at along the way.

These fish are really pretty and colorful. I know you're not supposed to feed the animals but does spit count? You see, my Daddy taught me a long time ago, that fish would come to the surface if you'd spit in the water. Not a big ole' spit, just a nice gentle drop of spit. And look how many came a swimmin'!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0862.jpg

And a close up:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0861-1.jpg

Right about the time I was taking the pictures of the fish, a castmember came by and asked if we wanted her to take our pictures. She walked up behind us and kind of scared us a bit because we thought we had been caught spitting at the fishies!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0863-2.jpg

After we had our picture taken and our hearts slowed down a bit, we walked into the building that houses the naked mole rats and other creepy crawlies.

I know I took more pictures but this is the only one I could find. My they are ugly!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0860-1.jpg

When we got to the hippo viewing area, we couldn't see much in the filthy water they live in but a castmember did point out some eyes and the tip of a nose waaaay back in the back. Since it was stinky in this section and we couldn't see anything besides fish (and we'd already spit at some), we walked on through to see what else we could find.

Look who we found standing guard:

I'm looking forward to finding out why it was a bad idea that you put John's poncho in your backpack. ;)

I'm kind of glossing over the ghost story. The whole thing just

creeps

me

OUT.

Though I'm also half intrigued.

We're from the "south" and I've never heard the term "goober" before. Then again, we're from Florida, which really ISN'T considered the south. It's kind of just a place unto its own. But we grew up on the panhandle, which is fondly (or not so much) called "LA" (lower Alabama), so we did grow up with a lot of "south-isms". I spent most of my life in various parts of Florida and am now in north Georgia and have never heard that term. Guess I'm not southern enough. I love "goov", though. It's a good code word. ;)

:laundy: on for the rest of AK....

It's a good code word. ;)

I'm from further south than Lisa and I can say that is not a code word I have ever heard; but it is a cute code word. Alot cuter than the things I grew up hearing (not that they were bad--just not as coded).:cutie:

Great animal pics. Love them. I absolutely loved the Safari, it's the first thing i'm going for next year. We didn't do the Pangini trail, but will for sure next year too. I love the pic of the Lion draped over the rock, that's really neat looking.

I swear it works every time!

Love all the AK pics!! Can't believe I missed your first AK update earlier.:confused3 Such a cute picture of Hunter with Terk:goodvibes

It was really cute because Terk was waving his hands in the air and the Terk's handler/castmember had the crowd getting into it.

Whoa. Really Creepy. Chills!

(and I love your TR, but the ghost is just ....spooky.)

Just skip over the ghosties!

geez, go away for a while and it takes over a week to catch up!
Fabulous stories, ghost and otherwise. And wonderful pictures too.
Can't wait to read more.

Glad you're all caught up!

I was wondering if I was missing the ghost stories...can't wait to see the book...

Love the AK pics! we did not do that walk... RAIN, RAIN, RAIN...Ashton would have loved it! next year!!!
Hunter w/Terk is adorable

Some of our best trips to Animal Kingdom were in the rain. Not pouring rain but rain showers on and off. We would, literally, skip all around the park.

Great pics so far! I always take 1000 at AK too. I'm not sure if we've ever seen Terk. :confused3 Maybe.

:laundy: on for the rest of AK....

I always take lots of pictures at Animal Kingdom. And, it's not just of animals as you'll see later on in the report. There's just so much stuff to take pictures of.

Feel free to skip over the ghost updates so you won't get too creeped out.

The backpack/poncho story is coming up soon. And, yes, it was a bad move on my part.:sad2:

I'm from further south than Lisa and I can say that is not a code word I have ever heard; but it is a cute code word. Alot cuter than the things I grew up hearing (not that they were bad--just not as coded).:cutie:

I grew up in a house of three daughters. There was a story in our local newspaper when I was born about my dad being outnumbered by women in his house. Don't know how that made the paper but it did. So, I didn't hear too many "goov", "goober", etc. words until I got older. John, however, comes from a family of five boys and just one girl. He has all sorts of words I didn't hear coming up in an all girl household.

Great animal pics. Love them. I absolutely loved the Safari, it's the first thing i'm going for next year. We didn't do the Pangini trail, but will for sure next year too. I love the pic of the Lion draped over the rock, that's really neat looking.

OH that is so creepy. You need to keep your camera with you all the time so you can catch that stuff. Like take a pic of the office when you leave in the evening and then get one in the morning when you come back in.

Your safari pix are great :thumbsup2. I played with the settings on my camera this past weekend and found some settings I didn't know it had. I will be a good photographer one day.

Wow...I go a way for a long weekend and I'm 6 pages behind! I'm all caught up now!

Great updates! I was on the lookout for a wallet at WoD too....didn't find one I wanted, but I did later in the trip.

We've never been in the Virgin Megastore, but DH is afraid of heights so I can't see him wanting to try. Sorry you were so affected by it.

I love the spitting at the fishies story! Too cute that you thought you were busted! LOL!

Hi! I'm just joining in here! Found your trip report and spent yesterday and today catching up! Love it!! Can't wait to read more. We too are CBR lovers! We stay there all the time. DH and I stayed at POP one year, it was the only way we could afford to go, and we did not like it at all. Especially the bus stop! But we were in Disney so we tried not to complain too much! Enjoy your next trip! We won't be going again until 2011. I am currently pregnant, due in January. So we are looking forward to a trip with our new baby in 2011!!! So far away!!!!!

That's exactly what John told me. I came in this a.m. and took a picture of the book on the floor. I hope to get those posted tomorrow. I've been really thinking about the falling book. There is no way that it could fall straight out and there's no way it didn't fall over and then fall because my Disney snowglobes are right beside it and they would have been knocked around.

You and I sound alike....I found a few settings on my camera this weekend too. Maybe if I read the book I might know a few more things.

At least you're all caught up again. I never did find a wallet that I liked. All of the ones that I saw were a lightweight fabric and didn't have a place for a checkbook (which I hardly ever use but want a place for it just in case). I'll be looking again this year.

I have been in the Virgin Megastore many many times but never encountered the glass floor. I don't know why I felt so overwhelmed this go round.:confused3

I did think we were busted for spitting in the water and was relieved when she only wanted to take our picture.

Glad to have you onboard. You know it's funny how many people complain about the CBR having too many bus stops and then people complain about Pop having a long line at the one bus stop. But, then, you have people who love the CBR because they have lots of bus stops and they love Pop because it has just one bus stop. Thank goodness Disney has a resort for everyone!

Congrats on the pregnancy! Our first trip to Disney World was when our son was just 1 and our daughter was 11. We were hooked and have been going back at least once a year every year.

I wasn't girly when I grew up but we had a lot of girls in my household so we knew nothing about raising boys. Thank goodness John had a bunch of boys in his family or I wouldn't have had a clue what to do with a boy.

Loved the picture of your salad at Rainforest. What kind of salad was that? When I ordered the "grilled chicken salad" at AK RF back in 2006, all I got was a huge bowl of lettuce and "baked" chicken. It was dry as a bone and about as tasteless. Your salad looked great! :thumbsup2

Loved your AK pictures too. You did get some really great animal shots. My favorite is the lion on the rock. And YAY for getting to see the elephants (my favorite). They are always behind the rock when I go...:sad2:

I've only got a minute but I thought I'd post a picture of our Countdown Calendar. For some reason, the picture turned out kind of dark. Hunter had just run from his Mamaw's house to our house and it was raining out. Thus, his "wet look".

It was a cobb salad but I don't like blue cheese so I asked that they leave it off. It was tossed in some kind of yummy dressing. I could eat salads for breakfast. John will get mad at me sometimes and say I should eat something besides salads.

In all of the times we have done the safari, this is the first time I have ever gotten a good shot of the lion. I was pleased with myself.

I hardly ever wear a hat or ballcap because they make me hot. But, that morning my hair was doing all sorts of twirly things and it looked like rain so I figured I better put on a hat. It was actually quite fun to spend some time with just Hunter. We did a lot of exploring before John came to the park.

I probably do, but who knows where. Everything is in a box somewhere! If I end up needing some I'll let you know. Thanks!

In all of the years that we have been going to Disney, I have never done a countdown calendar. We would count up the days but never made a calendar.

It looks like the whole broohaha that is going on with all co-owners of the other building just might settle. I am hoping that means the ghost won't feel the need to pull that same book out again.

Love the countdown. I didn't get to do one and I was bummed. By golly next time I go everyone is going to know it. I don't know that I could do a secret trip anymore. I love to talk about it. Thanks for the compliment on the calendar. It didn't turn out quite like I wanted it to but it's okay. You can tell the numbers that John and Hunter put on because they are all lopsided. If I had know they weren't putting them on straight, I would have put mine on crooked too.

Oh, I don't think I could keep an entire trip a secret again. Thank goodness I only had a short period of time to keep the secret. We ARE keeping it a secret from Lacey and Hunter that we switched resorts. Hunter has stayed at the CBR all three times. Lacey has only stayed at the CBR once. Every other time we went to Disney, we stayed offsite. Hunter is going to be more excited than Lacey about the switch. Lacey could really care less so long as she gets to go this year.

Great updates, great pics, great ghost stories, and especially great news about upgrading. I get so excited about our 1st trip to CBR after reading this thread.

My kids are going to go bananas after hearing about the spit trick; they are so crazy that they will probably try to spit anywhere they can to attract any kind of animal--any excuse to get an accidental spit on their sibling!:rolleyes1

I, too, am getting super excited about our upcoming CBR stay. I didn't realize just how much I was going to miss the resort.

Definitely tell the kids about spitting down into the water. The fish will come. And, if a little spit happens to get on the other sibling......... We've had worse things get on a sibling. Remember the booger story.;)

Last year, I couldn't do any kind of countdown and I could make any decorations for our window because it was a secret. It was hard to keep everything hidden.

The large Mickey heads are paint samples from Home Depot. The come on square cards. I used my scrapbooking scissors to cut around the heads. The little small ones are from a Mickey shaped hole punch.

This is the way I count the days until vacation and just about anything else. I don't count today because it's already here. I don't count the day we leave because, well, it's the day we leave. John thinks that is the stupidest way to countdown so to indulge him, I put the day we leave on the countdown. When I took the picture, we hadn't marked off two days. So, not counting today but counting the day we leave, we have just 29 days until we leave for 10 days of Disney fun!

Hunter started wearing glasses in September of last year so that's why there were no glasses in the Disney pictures. Now, he has glasses and contacts. When he wears his contacts depends on how lazy he is that day.

I did take pictures of the book. I'll go download them right now.

I'm sure your other Mickey Mail is in the Mail. We got two as I added the DDP. Two packets is a GOOD thing.

It means..

Extra luggage tags!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Hunter has really thick and long eyelashes so it can sometimes be a pain to put in the contacts. He wears glasses half the time and contacts the other half.

Wouldn't that be great to have doubles of everything. Maybe at least the arcade cards would work in each.

I'm not holding my breath that we'll get to actually two of everything but I hope that's what happens.

Great countdown calendar, I like it. Oh, how I can't wait to get ours going again. We loved ours so much that it is still hanging up, but of course with no days on it. "Soon enough" I keep telling myself "soon enough" :lmao:

We marked off another day on our countdown calendar last night. I've been holding off on even making it until it got down to the last 30 days or so. We've actually been counting down the days since I booked last August.

Just have to pop in to say I've spent the day reading the entire 46 pages of this report and have enjoyed every minute of it! I love the way you guys just roll with whatever! And there sure seems to be a lot of whatever!!!

Seriously, lovin it!! Keep the ghost updates coming. I'm not so much a ghost-believer, but your "visitors" are hard to dismiss! :scared1:

Welcome! I love it when new readers post. We did have a lot of things/whatevers happen this trip but it makes for a really funny trip report.;)

The ghost or whatever happenings here at the office have just confirmed my belief that there's ghosts/spirits out there. Thank goodness it seems this one or ones are at least nice ones.

Hi Lisa-

I went to my local Home Depot today and felt like a thief taking the Mickey paint tiles... :lmao:

Quick question: any tips on taking them off the cards?

Thanks!

Girl, I didn't feel like a thief when I took all of my Mickey heads. We spend thousands upon thousands of dollars at Home Depot because we buy a lot of our cabinet shop business lumber there. I even figure they owe me more Mickey heads with the way lumber prices have gone up!;)

I don't actually take them off the cards. I used scrapbooking scissors and cut around the Mickey heads. That way, it didn't have to be a perfect cut and you couldn't see the imperfections like you could with regular scissors.

For those of you following along in my ghost experiences, I have the pictures of the book for you. I didn't capture anything in the pictures but you can now see what I am talking about when I speak of the bookshelves and books.

In the first picture, you'll see the bookshelf and the book lying on the floor. The book was taken from the fifth shelf up from the bottom.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_1948.jpg

The next two pictures are the shelf from which the book was taken. See how tall and thick the books are? See how small of a space is in between the books and the snowglobes? And, remember, the book on the floor was right next to the books still on the shelf. When a book normally falls from a shelf, it would fall over and then fall from the shelf. If this had happened, my snowglobes would have been knocked around too because the book would have fell on them first.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_1946.jpg

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_1947.jpg

Here are two pictures of the book lying on the floor. If a book fell from the fifth shelf up from the floor (which is eye level to me and I'm 5 ft. 5 inches), you would think that the book would have fallen open not simply be lying flat on the floor.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_1943.jpg

07-08-2009, 02:31 PM
That's plain spooky. I think you're absolutely right, that the book would have fallen open, and probably hit something else on the way down. And the fact that it's that same book again! You know what might be a good test, re-shelf the book out of order and see what happens!

Your ghosts sound like they enjoy creating little mysteries for you. Maybe they'd like a little more friendly interaction!

By the way, it's been great getting Hunter's perspective on "the world", since my own boys are very close to his age, and our first trip is now just over 6 months away. Keep it comin'! :thumbsup2

Now that I've given you a ghost update, let's get back to our Animal Kingdom day. We were on the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail and so far, we had spit at fish, had our picture taken by a castmember, seen lots of creepy crawly things, the nose of a hippo and some Timons. Next up was the gorillas. We walked up to the observation window and a castmember was taking questions from guests.

This lady gorilla was just munching away paying us no mind.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0869-1.jpg

By the way, there were so few people on the trail that Hunter was able to ask quite a few questions. Nobody can ever say that boy is shy. He has no problems whatsoever asking questions. The castmember answered all the questions, looked at her watch and told us that they were about to start feeding the other gorillas and there was a good chance we could see them further along the trail. With that suggestion in mind, off we went. At first we saw nothing and then all of the sudden gorillas started coming out of nowhere.

The first one we spotted was this huge guy over to our right. I have two pictures of him.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0873.jpg

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0874-1.jpg

And then we looked to our left and out come more gorillas:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0872.jpg

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0871-1.jpg

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0879.jpg

It started misting rain and many of the guests were walking away but Hunter and I stayed right where we were and were rewarded with some great gorilla views and pictures.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0876.jpg

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0877-2.jpg

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0875.jpg

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0880.jpg

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0889.jpg

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0890.jpg

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0882-1.jpg

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0883.jpg

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0886.jpg

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0887-1.jpg

We watched the gorillas for at least 30 minutes and were absolutely mesmerized by them. It was just so neat to watch these huge gorillas and there were so many of them. It had started to really start sprinkling a lot now so we huddled under one of the rock walkway things along the trail and put on our ponchos. Hunter wanted to go over to Rafiki's Planet Watch next and with it looking like it was going to rain for a while, it seemed like a good idea.

****INTERRUPTION*****

I need to get a bit of work done. Bosses! Next installment will include Rafiki's Planet watch and a whole lotta hidden Mickey pictures.

Sitting here catching up w/you and Ashton came sit on my lap. Lookee mommy that is monkey's. No, gorillias. ooohh montey dorillas. When I came to the end he starts telling me up up up ( I didn't understand) he wanted me to pan up so he could see them again, than down down down...:rotfl2:

Even 3 yr olds love your TR!!!:rotfl: He enjoys the dis as much as I do; getting to catch up on what we missed and need to catch next year.

My custom maps that I ordered were shipped today! :yay: I plan to use them to customize our countdown/planning calendar for next year.

And Dayne came home last night and tells me that he and his friends decided where they want to go on their SR trip. WALT DISNEY WORLD!!!:lmao: so he will be going in May. Sounds like AP's may be in order (at least for him, myself, and Ashton:yay:). Only problem I don't know if any of them will be 18 yet. SAHM might just have to chaperone:rolleyes1 (in a seperate room, of course)

I have put the book back on the shelf and have taken pictures of them just to have something to look back on and see if they've moved.

Hunter absolutely loves Disney World. He's been going since he was just 1 year old and hasn't missed a Summer vacation there yet.

Yeah, I've been working. I think I have spoiled this boss of mine. He has NEVER had a secretary/paralegal who gives a hoot about him or his clients. My former boss was so used to me taking care of everything that I thought all bosses were like that. So, when I came over here, I just kind of took over and straightened out everything that his prior secretary screwed up. I am not tooting my own horn but he loves me to death! It's almost comical. Today, we had no appointments so I wore a pair of jeans and tennis shoes. When I said something about it, he told me I could come barefooted as far as he is concerned. I had to laugh out loud at that one.

The snowglobes are actually Lacey's. She used to get one for her birthday and Christmas every year. With her away at college, she has nowhere to put them. I decided that they were just collecting dust in her room so I'd bring them to work and collect dust here.

You can certainly claim my gorilla pictures as your own. I don't mind a bit.

I almost forgot to order the customized park maps and didn't do it until last week. We really don't need the park maps but I save them for souvniers and for scrapbooking. You have a cool idea using them for your countdown calendar.

Tell Mr. Ashton that I love the fact that he got a kick out of my montey dorillas. Tell him I'll have some more pictures posted soon.

Now Dayne is my kinda kid...choosing Disney World for his senior trip. Lacey tried to get some of her friends together for a trip to Disney but nobody had any money after our church youth group went skiing earlier that year. She has missed going with us to Disney the last two years and is getting super excited about going.

The book pic is too cool!! Love the globes!!! even noticed the pic of Mickey and Hunter?

Isn't the book thing neat! I have more Disney stuff in my office too they just weren't in the pictures.

Okay, I want to know what the secret is with you guys and the maps.

I ordered them for our 2007 trip but I CANNOT get them to work this time. I have been trying for 3 months now (and, no, I'm not exaggerating) and EVERY SINGLE time I get to the point where my address is entered (it's all already there), I click "Next" and I get...

"Sorry. A system error has occurred. Please try again later."

It makes me SO mad. I tried emailing Disney and they gave me some fake response about maybe I'm not elligible (you can order them every 6 months and it's been 2 years!). I responded and have never heard from them again.

I WANT MY MAPS!

Okay, sorry for the venting hijack. :)

I wanted you guys to know about a sale Disney Outlet is having. I just got an email saying everything in the outlet store is 30% off. Just use OUTLET30 in the coupon/promo spot on the checkout page. I wish there was something I needed to order but there's not.:headache:

I also forgot to tell you all that we went Disney shopping again this weekend. John got a new pair of Nikes for just $44.97 and I got a pair of new Nikes for just $22.48 because they were half off. Yipee! I didn't really need a new pair but John insisted I get them because they were so cheap.

I have a feeling that the book isn't going to move anymore. Why? Because a lot of the fussing that was going on between the attorneys is going to die down. They agreed for one of them to buy my boss out.

I don't, however, think that's going to stop the other goings-on. I think these ghosts aren't used to having somebody in "their" space.

I wish the gorilla pictures had turned out a little clearer but I was having to hold the camera up close to me since it was raining. It was awesome to watch them eating and just lazing around.

It was good, just not what I had expect. Ever since my first trip we stayed in the Deluxe hotels, not that I would've known the difference and since it was a budget trip and my mom had heard great things about it on the DIS that we gave it a try. I wasn't disappoint but not what I expect.

Whew! I've read your entire TR!

The ghosts are just plain spooky! My mom works at a university and the building she works in is haunted. Strange things have happened there both experienced by myself/my mom and heard by friends/coworkers. (She works at Monmouth Univ. where they filmed the movie Annie).

Once we had our ponchos on, we walked the rest of the way through the trail stopping every once and a while if we saw something that interested us. Then we see this sign:

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0891-1.jpg

After we got under the cover of the train station, we pulled off our ponchos so we wouldn't get the seat wet for the next set of people who would ride the train. That was a stupid move because it was still raining a little and the rain would sometimes come in on us but it wasn't too bad. We get to Rafiki's Planet Watch station and we let everybody go ahead of us so I could snap this picture:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0892.jpg

It had started to rain harder so out come the ponchos again! I stopped to take a picture of this sign because every time I see it, I want one to put in my backyard:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0893-2.jpg

When we got to the building, we took off our ponchos and stopped immediately to take pictures of the mural and hidden Mickeys:

About this time, there was another wave of people coming in and we decided to move on.

Hey! There's Jiminy Cricket! In all of our 13 trips to Disney, we've never seen him.

Then, we visited Mr. Blue Booty himself....Rafiki:

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0908-1.jpg

We walked around a bit and looked at the various animals and talked with castmembers about the food they feed them. Over near one window, there was a screen saying they would be doing some veterinary work in about 15 minutes. To kill some time, we hopped into one of the sound booths and listened to the narrator talk about rainforests.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0909.jpg

We decided that we'd go ahead and find a spot in front of the window where they'd be bringing the animals out so we could see. Just a few minutes later a castmember came out with his microphone and told us that they were going to be doing check-ups on several of their snakes. They would be doing x-rays, drawing blood and giving them some kind of vitamin. I absolutely hate snakes but they don't bother me too much so long as they are behind glass.

By the time they brought out the first snake, a lot of people had gathered around and I got a little p.o.'d when one of the mothers asked if Hunter would move back so her kids could stand in front of him. Not could he move over, not could we squeeze in.....could he move so they could stand in FRONT of him. I looked at her kids who were about the same height as Hunter and politely said "No because he won't be able to see over them. But, we will move over a little bit." She acted like she got mad but I didn't care. If they had been little bitty short kids, then yes, I would have had Hunter let them in front but they were almost as tall as him...maybe 2 inches shorter. The kids ended up being little heathens...jumping up and down, falling over on another kid, stepping on Hunter's foot, shouting....just heathens.:headache:

Anyway, they start doing the work on the snake and I'm okay with it. It's just a snake behind glass. And, then, they poked it with a needle and I started to get a little swoony feeling. I knew that I didn't like seeing needles poked in humans but who knew I would get all pukey feeling when they poked a snake? :confused3 I swallowed really hard several times and averted my eyes until they were finished. When they said they were bringing out another snake, I told Hunter I was going to go sit down near the wall and call his Dad.

It took about three phone calls before John ever answered the phone. I told him it was mid-morning and he needed to get up so he could come meet up with us. I made him promise he was out of the bed and walking around before I hung up.

Hunter found his way over to me after the second snake had been worked on and said he was ready to go even though they were bringing out another snake. Before leaving, we walked back to the mural and took a few more pictures:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0911-1.jpg

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0912-1.jpg

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z224/mickeystoontown/100_0913-1.jpg

While riding on the train back to the park, Hunter and I decided to just walk around a bit while waiting on John to get ready to meet us. We shopped a little and found some handcarved walking canes in the store in Africa. I told Hunter to remind me to show them to his Dad. We had my brother-in-law's name for Christmas and he walks with a cane. NOBODY and I mean NOBODY in my family wants to get my brother-in-law's name for Christmas. He is just really hard to buy for so I was glad to find something unique for him. I wanted John's opinion on which cane to get so I didn't buy one just yet.

The Tree of Life was right ahead of us and we went on over to take a look at the carvings.

Up next, lots of Tree of Life pictures.

Just loving this! Wanted to share an experience I had at AK when we were visiting the conservation station. We arrived at the station and there was hardly anyone inside, so we went in and walked around in the air conditioning! While inside they brought in a lion to work on his teeth! They were all wearing microphones and were right next to the glass! It was so cool! Of course the lion was out cold! It was the closest I have ever been to a lion! It was amazing!!! The things we get to experience in WDW!!! That is why we love it SO much & keep going back!!!! Can't wait to read more!

Love these pics. Glad there were no pictures of snakes. I hate snakes and other things that crawl in the night. I know I've said that before but I really do. Except Mickey and Minnie. No other ones. If you get my drift. You will have to see if Hunter can find Mickey contacts. Then his eyes could match. I couldn't see them till you did the close up.

Then, we visited Mr. Blue Booty himself....Rafiki

My grandson Alex calls him Blue Bottom Boy. I have a cute picture of him too which will be on my next trip report.

We will see if John makes it over won't we?

I have been busy today working. Darn it anyway. Not liking it one bit.

Great update. :goodvibes

I don't blame you, I wouldn't have made Hunter move to let the other children who were almost as tall as he was in front. :snooty: That wouldn't have been fair. And then to have them misbehave like that. Seems they may take after their mother, no manners. ;). (sorry, I shouldn't have said that! :rolleyes1)

Cute picture of Hunter in the alligator's mouth and I adore the hidden Mickeys. :cheer2:

Oh my gosh, I would have loved being there for the lion. You are so lucky!

The little things like Hunter getting chosen for the streetmosphere show, Hunter's joke getting picked at The Laugh Floor, castmembers giving us free ice cream for our anniversary, are what make Disney so special to us. Never mind the fact that Hunter took his first five consecutive steps in the Magic Kingdom. I love Disney!!!!

I didn't take pictures of the snakes 'cause I'm scared to death of them too. If they made hidden Mickey contacts, Hunter would be all over them. Heck, I would be too!

Looking forward to seeing the picture of Alex and Blue Bottom Boy.

John finally makes it over later in the day. Maybe in the next installment.

I know what you mean about being busy at work. I get stuff off my desk and it just gets put right back on. What's up with that?:confused3

We didn't spend too much time at Conservation Station because of the snakes, and DS's fear of them. I would have enjoyed spending a little more time there..oh well.:rolleyes1

Glad you didn't make Hunter move for those other kids, especially if they were his size anyway....What was the mother thinking???:confused3

I love the pictures from AK - I think you might have put Conservation Station on our list!! Just the possibility of seeing something like that sounds cool. My grandfather was a veterinarian and would take in animals that he knew he could save but the owners couldn't or wouldn't pay for. So he had quite the menagerie when I knew him when he was little. He often wasn't that great to the humans in his life, but he was very good at what he did for a living!

great pics, I'm proud of you for telling that mom no---some people have all the nerve
like the lady who cut in front of Danny to get into Toontown at the rope drop

Hunter loves to pose for pictures and didn't care who was watching him when he put his pictures in the alligator's mouth. His favorite is the one where he's screaming.

There were other hidden Mickeys in the mural but these are all I got pictures of. Some of the other people were looking at us like we were crazy for taking pictures of the wall. They weren't seeing the hidden Mickeys at all.

I didn't feel one ounce of badness when I told the mother that Hunter wasn't moving back for her kids. Like I said, if they were small kids that he could have seen over their heads, maybe. But, no uh-uh, he wasn't moving for kids just as big as he was.

If you are the slightest bit interested in the "behind the scenes" kind of animal stuff, then you need to go over to Conservation even if it's just once.

Oh girl! You've gotta go back to Rafiki's Planet Watch and look at the mural. The pictures I took are just a sampling of the hidden Mickeys. There are more.

There is no way I would have the nerve to ask somebody to let Hunter stand in front of them if he was, basically, the same size as the kids I'm asking to move. Just no way!

Girl, I couldn't even ask for Ashton who is 36" tall! just could not do it...:upsidedow I would expect someone to look at me like I was crazy for asking:laughing:that is like the lady who walked in front of Danny at the rope drop; just because a person leaves a 6" space does not give an invitiation to walk in front of someone: Danny had said I was leaving room for the CM's to move the rope, I was trying to be considerate:rotfl: --

LOVE all of the Hidden Mickey pictures. I really didn't know those were there. We will definitely be looking for them this time. I don't think we made it to Conservation Station last time (though I know I've been before...I don't think Christian has).

That was just rude for that lady to ask for Hunter to move back. Does she think he's not a kid too?

Looking forward to seeing John in the pictures! ;)
