After many years of going to WDW and each time regretting not buying DVC - we have finally bought. 300 points at BCV with a 70 point add-on at HH. With the great advice on this board I split the BCV points into two 150 point contracts. Easier to resell (god forbid) but more importantly easier to give one to each of my two daughters when I'm too old for my walker and I to make it up the stairs.

I figure with the add-on we will get a week or so every other year at HH for a little summer break.

My only concern was choosing a use year. I took June as most of our vacations will be in the November/December timeframe. I think this will allow us to cancel due to unforeseen problems and still be able to either bank 100% of the points or have six months to use the points. Does this make sense?

Thanks to everyone for all the great advice on this board and in particular to those who answered my numerous questions.:bounce:

Congratulations! We are looking to join too. I had not thought of splitting the points. It sounds like a good idea. Where there any negatives to doing so that I should consider?

Does rtp stand for Research Triangle park? If so, we are neighbors at WDW and in NC.

Welcome Home! Hey-- you might want to join us at the North Carolina area meet we're having next month at Maggiano's at Streets of Southpoint! Let me know and I'll pass along the details. I think it's going to be lunch on Saturday 7.27, but I don't have the details in front of me. We'd love to meet you!

No negatives to splitting that I've ever heard. It's a good idea on large contracts. As a suggestion, if you have a question you might want to start a new thread since the question could get lost in all the congratulatory notes to new members. That way, you have a better chance of getting responses!

Thanks for the invite to Southpoint. I had noticed the thread before. Unfortunately, I will be out of town that weekend. Perhaps at another meet.

Congratulations!

Hope you enjoy your new home away from home. We are about to purchase at BCV so will soon be your neighbors. I'm sure it will be worth your (and our) wait!
