I am no where near a pro, but I can tell you what I do. I use a few different photo sharing sites to host my pictures online. I mainly use Photobucket.com. It is free to sign up, and you just upload your pictures up there. They give you an account and a certain amount of space. When you upload a picture, it is assigned a web address. All you have to do is copy and paste that address for the picture into the forum post. On the top of the box where you type, there is an icon that looks like a photo. you click on that and paste the address inbetween the IMG commands. I am sure someone here can go into greater detail, but it is fairly easy to do.

Do you have a digital camera? If so and your images are stored on your computer, the hosting site (photobucket or similar) will provide instructions for uploading them. If you shoot film or otherwise have prints to post that are not digital files, then yes, you would need a scanner.

The pictures you want to post must first be on your computer to upload them onto a file sharing site, such as Photobucket. So, if all you have is a print of your pictures then yes, you would need a scanner to get them onto your computer. If your pictures are still on the memory card of your camera then you would need to upload them from your camera or use a card reader to get them onto your computer. I'm sure your manual instructs you how to upload from the camera.

If you have Windows XP or Windows Vista, you will either plug your camera directly into your computer via the USB cord that came with your camera, or you will take your media (memory card) out of your camera and place it in a card reader that comes with many computers.
XP and Vista will both show pop up windows that ask what you want to do with the pictures. You would select download using Windows and it will automatically go to your Pictures folder under you window users name.
Then, you'd need to remember where those files are and access Photobucket to upload/host your pictures from your computer to their site.
Then, you use the hypertext links from Photobucket to post them online in this forum.
