Hey everybody! I am back from my fantastic two week land and sea vacation and I am ready to get this, my third trip report started! As with my other reports you can expect lots and lots of photos and detail, our photo count is right around 5000! Also there will be some video for your enjoyment. I am also going to try my best to get an update out every other day (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) so there will be no long waits for updates here. I love and appreciate all my readers so if you are reading please don't be shy, post and say hello! :goodvibes Lastly I will be keeping a table of contents here in this first post for easy navigation and at the end of each update there will be a link to the next installment. I do this as I know that not everybody wants to read the chatter between updates. With that said onto the report!
For those of you who are new to my reports let me give you a brief introduction to my family and myself.
Traveling this year were myself, Lessa, and my mother, Beth. Usually my crazy brothers, Alek and Erich come along as well but they opted to stay at home this year. What trouble could they have gotten up to while we were away? :scared:
First there is me, Lessa (25), your dedicated trip reporter. I love traveling and WDW is one of my favourite places to visit. I also love to take pictures so you can be sure that this report will be full of them. :thumbsup2 I graduated from university a few years ago and I am heading back to school in the Fall to start working towards a Nursing degree. Since school will be taking up a lot of my time and money for the next couple of years this was our last Disney trip for a while. :sad1:
Next there is Mom, Beth (46) to the rest of you. ;) She is a great Mom and loves to indulge me, thus agreeing to go on this lovely two week adventure. Not that I had to twist her arm or anything, she loves Disney and WDW just as much as I do. :rotfl: She works for a hospital fundraising foundation, very busy and stressful work so she really deserves her vacations.

(No we are not crazy people who walk around wearing napkins on our heads)
Of course I can not leave out my brothers. Of course they did not come with us physically to Florida but their influence is far reaching and I felt like they were there with us in spirit if not in body. Of course the fact that Mom wanted to call them everyday to check on them helped keep them fresh in my mind as well. ;) Keep a look out for them as they like to pop by and make contributions to my reports which usually turn out to be hysterical. ;)

With the introductions out of the way now I can get to the details of the trip! We visited WDW from May 16th - May 23rd staying at the Pop Century and then we set sail on the Disney Magic for a 7 night cruise!

The 7 day was fantastic! I can't imagine only doing a 3 day, the 7 day went by so quickly! Any Disney cruise would be great though in my opinion.

Your brothers look like they have a lot of fun in life  Oh, and you and Beth look more like sisters than mom/daughter! I'd love to take my mom sometime...maybe one day soon! Looking forward to the next update.
Welcome! You will love taking a 7 night cruise! We loved our port days but we also loved our relaxing sea days. :cloud9:
Yep, Alek and Erich are "special" in many ways. :rotfl:

May 16th - Arrival Day
After almost two years of waiting departure day had finally arrived! I had originally booked our cruise way back in August of 2007. Our original sail date was December 6th 2008 but due to schedule conflicts and my decision to go back to school we had to reschedule the cruise for May of 09.
We were set to leave the house at the nice hour of 3am, yuck! We fly out of Syracuse, New York which is a two hour drive from our house and of course we have to factor in the border crossing. All that combined with an early flight time makes for a very early departure!
We had packed all our bags the day before so when my alarm went off at 1:30am all I had to do was shower and dress as I was set to go!
We decided to stop at McDonald's on the way out of town as we would not be eating again until sometime around 3pm! Unfortunately for us there seemed to be a large car full of drunks in front of us so we sat in that drive-thru for what felt like forever! Finally with food in hand we were off!
The drive to the border was nice and quick, no trucks around which is unusual for the 401 in the middle of the night. I am not complaining though, I hate driving on the highway at night with those huge trucks. I am always afraid that they are not going to see us and decide to switch lanes and push us off the highway in the process!
Another little neurosis of mine, I hate driving across long, tall bridges. Of course living in the Thousand Islands region we have to drive across two of them to cross the border and get into New York. So combine the driving across the bridge with a huge truck coming at us from the other direction and you have one very nervous Lessa!
We crossed the border very easily and were at the airport in just over an hour. The highway was deserted, so strange as we are used to a steady flow of traffic even at night.
Finding a parking spot was fun too, we finally found one after having to do some creative maneuvering around the parking lot.
Not much of a line at the check-in counter at JetBlue so we were helped after waiting only a few minutes. I walked up placed my purse on the counter and handed our confirmation and passports over to the agent to check-in. Lucky us our bags were only 30 pounds each, no idea how we managed that one as both were packed pretty full! All checked in I grabbed my carry-on from behind me and we were off to Security.
The line at Security was fairly long, well long for Syracuse. lol I went to put all my stuff up on the security screening machine and I freaked out! Where was my purse! I turned to Mom in a panic hoping that she was holding it but no such luck. My heart was racing, where could it possibly be! Did I drop it? Did I leave it somewhere? The last place I saw it was at check-in. I quickly threw my shoes back on and explained to TSA what had happened. Didn't want to rush out of security without explaining, they might have thought I was a terrorist or something! Today was my lucky day though, as soon as I exited the Security area I saw a JetBlue rep standing there with my purse calling out for me. Turns out I had left it at the check-in counter. Doh!
Happily reunited with my purse we headed back through Security, again. Mom got pulled aside as they needed to search her bag. Something suspicious has come up in the scan. Turns out she had thrown a full tube of toothpaste in her bag! I gave her a good teasing for that one. She of course got mad at me for it. It was all in good fun. She better watch out though, last year she tried to smuggle a coke in, this year toothpaste. If it happens again that will be three strikes against her! Wonder if that would put her on the no fly list.
Once on the plane I was delighted to see that there was an Angel marathon on, just like last year! So I settled into my seat and watched that while we flew to New York. There was a brief layover there and then we were off again! Angel was over now so I settled for watching Law and Order. I find that the flight goes by so much faster when you have something to watch. I am so glad that most airlines have added the personal tv sets to the seats.
For a snack we had potato chips made from blue potatoes. Who knew there were blue potatoes, I sure didn't!
There was a lot of turbulence coming into Orlando but we arrived safe and sound although a little deaf from all the screaming children on the plane who were frightened by the turbulence.
After collecting our luggage we were off to pick up our rental car. We had gone with Budget this year as they have an office in Cape Canaveral which offers a free shuttle to the cruise terminal. I had read on the boards that the line for Budget was ALWAYS long and they were right on the money. I think we were in that line for at least 45 minutes.
Our rental agent was very friendly though, it turns out that she had just been on the Disney Magic for their first sailing to Tortola so she was giving us all kinds of tips for the cruise. I of course already knew most of what she was telling us from reading the boards but I smiled and nodded as she was just being friendly and helpful. She also tried to upsell us to a convertible which we of course turned down, lucky that we did!
Budget operates a bit differently from National. With Budget you are assigned a car and have to go to a kiosk in the garage to pick up your keys whereas with National you go to the garage and pick your own car from the selection provided in the size of car that you reserved. No big deal, just different and more like a traditional car rental.
With keys in hand we found our car, packed the trunk and were off! I must have been excited or something as I missed the turnoff for the highway and we ended up driving right into Orlando???? We just did a U-turn back to the airport and then hopped right on the highway. It was smooth sailing from there. I was driving which left Mom in charge of the camera.

She did a pretty good job don't you think?
When we got out of the car at POP I was looking around and was happy to see that there were barely any love bugs around. I was worried leading up to the trip that they would be swarming around everywhere.
Check-in went by quickly, we got assigned to the 50's building. The CM was originally going to assign us a third floor room but I kindly requested something on the fourth floor and she was able to accommodate me no problem.
Our room turned out to be in a really great location. Right near the staircase which was right next to the parking lot.
Once in the room we unpacked, got changed and then headed out to Downtown Disney, we were starving!
Once we got to DD we headed straight to Wolfgang Puck Express. I knew that if I did not eat soon I would be sick. I ordered the four cheese mac and cheese and Mom ordered the Pepperoni and Mushroom pizza. They gave us our order number and we then went and found a seat. We decided to eat outside as it was a nice day and we wanted to soak in the nice weather.
Doesn't Mom look happy to be on vacation?
http://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll421/polnickyhunt/Disney%20May%202009/May%2016th%20-%20Arrival/D1004.jpg
The food came out quickly and we chowed down. Well first I had to take pictures of course.

I have to say I was a bit disappointed with the Mac and Cheese. I had read rave reviews of it here on the boards so I was expecting something spectacular and instead it tasted just like plain ol mac and cheese, nothing special about it. The ceasar salad that came with it was very tasty though. Mom's pizza but excellent, a bit flimsy though. Overall I would say that our meal at WPE was just okay.
After eating we went and walked around the stores for a little bit, just browsing to see if anything caught our interest.
In the Christmas Store I loved their Christmas village, especially this light-up castle.

The way this bird was looking at me freaked me out. I thought it was going to fly at me and attack at any moment. We used to have a cat, Smokey, who at random times would hunt me around the house. I always knew when he was going to do it as he would get this look in his eye before he pounced, the same look that bird was giving me. I took a picture real quick and then got out of there. lol

Next we headed into World of Disney which was a zoo so we did not stay in there long. Instead we hopped over to the new store Tren-D. They had some really nice stuff in there. Very pricey though. I saw a really beautiful Tink pillow that I fell in love with but I walked away.
We saw this lovely outfit and I knew that T would appreciate it so I snapped a quick picture. lol

The original plan was to get some ice cream at Ghirardelli but the line was crazy long so we skipped it. We decided it was time to leave as we still needed to hit up the grocery store for some water and breakfast food. After that we returned to the hotel to drop off the groceries.
Coming up: The Magic Kingdom and the Spectro/Dole Whip Meet!
May 16th - Arrival Day
I was so glad to have taken the Friday off work, it always seems that even though I am packed, I still have many last minute things to do, paying bills, cleaning, laundry, stocking up on groceries for Erich so that he wouldn't go hungry LOL, I had no worries about him going hungry as he works full time at a restaurant just blocks from our home.
The lady at the car rental counter really made me laugh, as she said that Lessa and I would look really good driving around in the car, :car:Oh, I'm sure that we would have, and if anyone was there at Disney that week, or watched the news, the week was really not convertibale weather LOL:umbrella:
She did a pretty good job don't you think?
Thank you Lessa, I do try, I did find however that the camera I was using seemed to be taking very grainy pictures, and it was not a very fast camera, so I am sure that many of my pictures will or have been deleted

LOL ( It seems that in the majority of all pictures taken of me ever, my eyes are always closed). let me tell you it felt good to be back at Disney and away from everyday life, worries and stresses, I was just looking forward to a few weeks of fun, relaxation, meeting and making new friends along the way and enjoying this time with my daughter. I think that would put a smile on anyone's face.;)

Isn't she? The funny thing is that last July when we were flying home from BC I had a sharp metal nail file that my grandma had given me in my shorts pocket. I forgot I had put it there and so I still had it on me when we went through airport security. They didn't detect a thing and so I was able to board the plane with a possible weapon. Mom on the other hand is a real danger with her tube of toothpaste!

I just don't know about that new Characters in Flight. I hate, hate, hate, heights!!!
Oh yeah, I was majorly panicked. I had $500 cash in there plus all my credit cards. :scared: Good thing I left it on the counter and the JetBlue rep found it, I can only imagine what might have happened if it had been left somewhere else. :scared1:
The mac and cheese was decent, just regular mac and cheese, I was just expecting something more. I am a fan of "different" or more uniquely flavoured mac and cheeses.

I LOVE Wolfgang Puck Express, but I have to admit your mac and cheese didn't look so hot. I've read a lot of good reviews about that dish too, I wonder if they changed the recipe recently?

Hey Lessa and Beth,
I so enjoyed meeting both of you at the Dole Whip/Spectro/Wishes/Haunted Mansion meet. When I got home, I read your PTR and have been waiting patiently (not) for you to return to read your TR. I so hope you had a great cruise - I was worried about the weather.
By the way, when I pulled up the TR page, I saw the title and wondered if it was you. Then I saw your name under the title. Hope you are feeling better.

I was very lucky with my purse, I was so happy that nothing was missing from it.
I was super disappointed with the mac and cheese but I had several meals later in the trip that really made up for that one little disappointment. :goodvibes

Hi Kristi! It was so much fun getting to hang out with you that night. I love that a group of us hung around after the meet to go watch Wishes and ride the Haunted Mansion.
Well my voice is still very raspy but I can speak clearly enough that I am at work tonight although everybody has been making fun of how I sound. Saturday was the worst though, I could barely talk. :sad2:
I'm still not sure if I caught this at WDW due to the nasty weather or if I caught it on the cruise. I guess I will never know. :confused3

I just ordered my photopass cd! Yes we were originally in a share but there was some confusion on Mom's part and so we ended up having to order our own cd. Good news though is that we should have it in a couple days if it is delivered as quickly as it was the past two years. I really need it before I post about our next park day. I still have two updates to write about the first day though so there should not be a delay in the report! :goodvibes:thumbsup2

Hey! So glad you got your purse back quickly! I can imagine how you felt!
Since I always fly Southwest, I have yet to experience the presonal TVs. I guess $50 each way is just too tempting to turn down!
Love the pic you took of the crazy outfit. I often do this at WDW, but scared to post them all in fear that it's a DISer, and I'll end up on People's Court! HA!
Looking forward to more . . . Cya!

After stowing away our groceries in the room (more like dumping them in a heap on the table) we went for a short little stroll around our area of Pop. We were debating whether we should drive the car over to the Magic Kingdom or if we should take the bus. We ultimately decided it would be safest if we took the bus because who knew what sort of state I would be in to drive by the end of the night since we will have been up for 24 hours by then.
We were in the 50's section which meant that our room was closest to the bowling pin pool.
http://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll421/polnickyhunt/Disney%20May%202009/May%2016th%20-%20Arrival/D1027.jpg
I think that the 50's is my favourite section of Pop, the colour of the buildings and the theming appeals to me most out of all the sections.
http://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll421/polnickyhunt/Disney%20May%202009/May%2016th%20-%20Arrival/D1031.jpg
We ran across this cute little guy
http://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll421/polnickyhunt/Disney%20May%202009/May%2016th%20-%20Arrival/D1028.jpg
I then told Mom all about the snake thread I read on the dis and how they will sometimes fall out of trees right onto the pathways. :scared1: :lmao: Luckily we did not see a single snake the entire trip.
We walked up to the lake and admired the lovely unfinished buildings on the other side. Disney really needs to tear them down, they are an eye sore.
http://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll421/polnickyhunt/Disney%20May%202009/May%2016th%20-%20Arrival/D1029.jpg
Then we came across Mom's year sign
http://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll421/polnickyhunt/Disney%20May%202009/May%2016th%20-%20Arrival/D1030.jpg
After finding her sign we decided to head to the bus, we figured we would explore the rest of the resort some other day to find my year sign.
There were only a couple people in line ahead of us when we arrived but the line quickly grew, glad that we got there when we did! The family is front of us was from Quebec (we could tell from their shirts) and were speaking in French. So much for my 4 years of French in high school, I couldn't understand a word.
The bus arrived after waiting for about 15 minutes and it needed to load three wheelchairs onto the bus before the rest of us could get on. Since Mom and I were near the front of the line we were among the lucky few to grab seats.
That bus was packed! Mom did end up giving her seat up to a Mom with a young kid. Another woman was basically standing over me straddling my lap, a bit awkward to say the least. I am not one for invasion of personal space, probably why I do not like riding the buses.
Soon enough we were at the Magic Kingdom and I was very relieved to get off that bus, I felt like I couldn't breathe on it it was so crammed.
Forgetting the bus ride I was happy to be back at the Magic Kingdom!

http://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll421/polnickyhunt/Disney%20May%202009/May%2016th%20-%20Arrival/D1036.jpg
We sailed through bag check, our tickets worked on the first go and within minutes we were inside the park. We did not have any set plans for the day other than the meet at Aloha Isle at 8pm for Dole Whips and SpectroMagic.

http://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll421/polnickyhunt/Disney%20May%202009/May%2016th%20-%20Arrival/D1041.jpg
We wandered onto Main St and decided to explore the stores on the right hand side of the street as we only ever seem to go into the Emporium. First stop was the hat shop where I tried on some Minnie ears and Mom tried to convince me that I should get the princess ears (tall pointy princess hat with ears sticking out) No thanks! I did really like the Minnie ears so I put them on my to consider list.
Next we went into the confectionery where we saw these enormous Mickey rice krispie treats.
http://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll421/polnickyhunt/Disney%20May%202009/May%2016th%20-%20Arrival/D1042.jpg
While in the shop we heard what sounded like parade music coming from outside. We were confused as it was 6pm and there is no parade at 6pm. Here is what we saw coming down the street:

Now I know why your mom looks so young - she is!!! 1962 - I can't believe she has grown kids. I was born in 1968 and I have a 5 and 3 year old. I think she made the right choice though - I'm very, very tired now. :)

Yep, I find I have to do this to avoid buyers remorse and also to keep me from spending way more than I can afford. This way I know that if I still really want something a few days down the road that I should buy it and it helps me decide between things. I'll tell myself I can get one or the other but not both.

Welcome! Thanks for the compliments. Both cameras we used on the trip were Canons. Mom was using my old Canon point and shoot (A95 model) and I was using my brothers newer Canon SX100IS which is also a point and shoot but a bit fancier and faster. That is the camera that got used the most. The older camera we mostly used to take video.

That parade looks cute. It's cool that there was a parade at 6 o'clock, because that means I might actually get to see it! It seems like I'm usually in the MK in the morning or in the evening. I'm hardly ever there around 3 o'clock, so I usually miss the afternoon parade.

Hi Lessa,
Welcome back, I know it's late but still welcome back. So far I am totally into this TR. SO much to comment on I can't remember it all.
Your purse!?! You know I am a big believer in idiot strings, I have actually put some on my keys, they will never stray more than 12 inches from my purse now, and I have only misplaced my purse twice, I think I need to add an idiot string to it as well.
I don't think I would have upgraded to the convertible either, wouldn't want my Minnie ears flying off. plus I worry about bird poop, what if it smacks me in the eye and I lose all control of the car and crash it thus ending the Disney trip before it really started.
The 50's at Pop. siiiigh! that was the first place I stayed. Memories, from the corners of my mind...............
isn't it great?
you gals were going on minimal sleep, did ya feel drunk? I always feel drunk when sleep deprived, it's kinda nice, everything is funny and you don't toss your cookies later.
OK so I am geeked for the rest of this. Keep it going girl, you're awesome!

The trip down seemed pretty smooth minus the purse and toothpaste incidents. I'd forget my rump if it wasn't attached. That's why I always try to get a purse with an extra long strap so I can wear it across my body.
I'm so sorry that WPE was a disppointment. I thought for sure you were going to come back and tell us how grand it was. I really thought that Doug and I were just there on a bad night. Oh well. I hope the rest of your eats are wonderful.
I'm in aggreement with everyone else. Tell your mom she looks fabulous. That color of blue looks terrific on her. I love it! And my dear, your hair is so sophistcated. Va, Va, Voom!
If all your pictures are this good, we've got a lot to look forward to.

Hi Lessa,
All caught up on your updates. So glad you got your purse back. Leaving on the airport counter is something I would do. So what did you think of Pop so far? I know your usually a deluxe girl :goodvibes. The crowds on the buses are a bit much. Even at SSR it was like that sometimes, no personal space at all :scared:. on the buses. Makes me miss the monorail resorts. Your pics are really nice of Pop and the celebrate parade at MK. We missed that one because of the weather but it looks really cute. Looking forward to the Dole Whip meet :).

Hey...Quebec people hehehe
We always encounter fellow Quebecers during our trips.
 We actually ran into quite a few Canadians on the trip, most of them were CM's though. Mom loves chatting up the Canadians though. :rotfl:
Great update!
I love the 50's section of Pop, too. I hope we're put there or in the 70's next time we stay there. (We were in the 80's last time and I wasn't so crazy about that section!)
That parade looks cute. It's cool that there was a parade at 6 o'clock, because that means I might actually get to see it! It seems like I'm usually in the MK in the morning or in the evening. I'm hardly ever there around 3 o'clock, so I usually miss the afternoon parade.
Can't wait to read more! :goodvibes
There are only two sections I would really request at Pop, 50's because I like the decor and theming the best and the 60's because it is closest to the food court and gift shop.
Yeah, I was totally confused by that mini parade. At first I thought maybe the afternoon parade had been canceled for something and so they rolled this out to make up for it but there was nobody around so I knew that couldn't be it. Thanks to all of you for clearing it up for me!
Hi Lessa,
Welcome back, I know it's late but still welcome back.
The funny thing about the purse incident is that it is usually Mom who is misplacing her purse, in fact just tonight she was ripping the house apart looking for it.
I don't think I would have upgraded to the convertible either, wouldn't want my Minnie ears flying off. plus I worry about bird poop, what if it smacks me in the eye and I lose all control of the car and crash it thus ending the Disney trip before it really started.
:lmao: :rotfl2:
The 50's at Pop. siiiigh! that was the first place I stayed. Memories, from the corners of my mind...............
isn't it great?
I think we all feel sentimental about our first Disney hotel. For me the Wilderness Lodge will always hold a special place in my heart. I was telling Mom that when we stayed at the WL it felt like home and had this magical feel to it. I just don't get that from Pop. :confused3
you gals were going on minimal sleep, did ya feel drunk? I always feel drunk when sleep deprived, it's kinda nice, everything is funny and you don't toss your cookies later.
I can't speak for Mom but I was wide awake and alert, I did sleep really well that night. ;)

Thanks Kristel, you are sweet, I was very self-conscious about how short it had been cut.

You are right, I am a deluxe girl at heart, Mom calls me a hotel snob. Pop served its purpose as a place to sleep but if I was planning on a lot of downtime at the hotel I would definitely stay somewhere else. That is just me though. I also like having indoor corridors and everything being under one roof which I missed at POP. You can't beat the price at POP though which was the determining factor. It broke my heart to give up the AKL but with going back to school it just did not make sense financially. Oh well, next trip in a few years we will be staying AKL or Poly so I have that to look forward to!

After the parade we sort of scratched our heads wondering what the heck it was and then moved on up the street. We stopped for our first photopass picture of the year, of course I can't post it as I don't have the cd yet.
Insert photopass picture here
Mom was really thirsty and needed a drink so we headed into Casey's and ordered a large coke. We asked for very little ice in the drink, what did we get? We got a coke with the normal amount of ice and another cup half-full with just ice in it. Ummm, okay..... We just went with it and split the drink between the two cups and headed on our way.
We decided to head on over to Buzz to get our ride on. Tomorrowland looked like a zoo despite the fact that the main attraction in that area, Space Mountain was down for refurbishment. Despite the crazy amounts of people the Buzz line moved quickly and we were on the ride in about five minutes.

Next we decided to ride the Carousel of Progress. I know what you all are thinking but it is a WDW classic and we had never been on it. Got to do everything at least once! Definitely a one-time experience.
It was approaching 7pm and the Dole Whip meet was at 8pm. We decided to head over to Adventureland and go on some of the rides over there. First we had to stop for a bathroom break. While I waited I snapped some photos.

I decided that I wanted to do a quick trip up into the Swiss Family Treehouse to see what kind of view I could get for pictures, to my surprise Mom came with me. For those of you who don't know Mom suffers from MS and humidity plus climbing can be really painful for her. She seemed to do okay this night though.

After the treehouse we decided to go ride Pirates. We went into the queue on the right and there was no line! Walked right on, the queue on the other side had quite a few people waiting. Suckers!
Once done with Pirates we had a little bit of time to kill so we just decided to stroll around and soak everything in. We are past the phase where we have to rush everywhere and cram all the rides in. We have already done everything and know that we will be back for future trips so no need to stress.

With 8pm quickly approaching we made our way over to Aloha Isle for the Dole Whip meet. It was not quite yet 8pm and we were looking around and I did not see anybody I recognized. On a second sweep of the area I did spot somebody, it was Rosie! I waved hello and headed over and she greeted me with a smile and a big hug. She also presented us with lime green Focker Watch lanyards, thanks Rosie!
Soon the others started to arrive, I'm sorry but I don't remember all the screen names, you know who you are! I know for sure that at the meet were Colinsdad, Kristi (bound2travel), JohnEric, Nicole and her brother, Rosie, Angela. Sorry if I am forgetting you! The meet is sort of a blur in my mind.
It was great fun getting to meet everybody while we partook in a delicious Dole Whip. At one point we got a group picture. People seem to be missing from my picture though as I know there were others there that are not in this shot.
http://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll421/polnickyhunt/Disney%20May%202009/May%2016th%20-%20Arrival/D1092.jpg
I think it must have been around 8:20/8:30 so we decided that we should try and find our Spectro viewing spot. Somehow I ended up leading the group to our spot. No idea how that happened. :confused3
We ended up in Frontierland across from the passageway that leads into Adventureland near the Country Bears. There was a nice open spot so our group grabbed it and plopped ourselves down to wait for the parade.
http://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll421/polnickyhunt/Disney%20May%202009/May%2016th%20-%20Arrival/D1093.jpg
We got another group shot of those who continued on to see Spectro after the Dole Whip meet. I am borrowing this picture from diser Colinsdad as I did not get a group shot on my camera, hope you don't mind!
http://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll421/polnickyhunt/Disney%20May%202009/May%2016th%20-%20Arrival/D1093A.jpg
You can see me peeking out from behind Rosie
We all sat around chatting away while waiting. It was lots of fun getting to know everybody.
Now this part is going to shock and amaze most of you but I do not have a single picture from Spectro. I didn't feel like fiddling around with the settings on the camera to find one that would allow a decent shot so I just didn't take pictures. Instead I sat back and relaxed and took in the show, something I rarely do.
Spectro is one of my favourite things at WDW, it is just so beautiful and I love the music, it is simply magical! Mom says that there were some changes to the parade but I didn't notice anything so it must not have been anything big.
After the parade there was a debate on what to do next. We ultimately decided to head over to the castle for Wishes and then after that to ride the Haunted Mansion.
http://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll421/polnickyhunt/Disney%20May%202009/May%2016th%20-%20Arrival/D1094.jpg
Again I am going to shock you all, I did not take a single picture of Wishes. Don't worry I would be my regular snaphappy self the rest of the trip. ;)
Wishes was great as usual and once it was over we headed towards Haunted Mansion. The group broke up at this point. The smokers took a smoke break in Liberty Square while the others went ahead and said that they would meet us at the Haunted Mansion. Mom and I are not smokers but we did not want to separate from the group so we hung around in Liberty Square and then went over to Haunted Mansion together. When we got there we found out that a couple of the people who went ahead of us had decided to head over to Casey's to get something to eat instead.
With the group back together again we headed into the Haunted Mansion. I like this ride, it is fun and cheesy and I find the hitchhiking ghost bit hilarious. Once everybody was off the ride we stood outside chatting for a bit. After a while I think people were starting to get tired so our group headed on out of the park.
We were leaving at the same time that Spectro was starting up for a second time. I was afraid that we were going to be trapped on Main St until it passed us by but they actually had CM's who would wave people across the street to the train station whenever there was a small break in the parade.
Kristi, Rosie, Mom and I were all staying at Pop so we rode the bus back together. This was a much more pleasant bus ride for me than the one to the park that day. In fact with the lights on the bus turned off I sort of nodded off for a bit in my seat.
Once back at Pop we said goodnight and headed off to bed. I took a few minutes to write my notes in my trip journal and then it was sweet sleep for me. I think we didn't get to sleep that night until almost midnight, that was one looooong day!

Taken right out of my report:
Now as you can see from this picture, the lady next to candi is the CM that was standing at the line entrance, as we were walking up, she kept saying both sides open folks, both lines open, please use both the right and the let hand sides. so we go off to the right side.
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x319/daniksch/disney2008/DSC07234.jpg
Well no one else is in front of us, or follows behind us. they all keep going to the left, there lose.
as we are walking all the way up to the front, we get to te point where both lines are right next to each other about 10 minutes away from the ride, well that side is stopped, our side still no one in front of us, i am videoing our walk up as it is a first ther is no one that we are behind, and it catches me saying right as we are next to all of these people, "hey hun, look at those suckers over there waiting" and i keep going, fearing to look at them and lock eyes. Candi just laughs, and keeps walking, we hope right into the next boat with even stopping

I have to agree with you that the lack of pressure to see and do everything at Disney because you've already done it or will do it in the future helps make the trip so much more fun. I know that I go to Disney to get away from pressure so I'm right with you on that sentiment.:cool1:

Yep, it was nice to watch the show without worrying about pictures. I also told myself it didn't matter as I could always get pictures later on in the week when we would be seeing it again.....

Yes, it is very nice to be able to just enjoy the parks without worrying about getting everything in. Makes it much more relaxing. I think the only day when I felt the pressure was when we were at DHS for Star Wars Weekend.

The first time I rode Pirates, I went left and had a line. The second time, I looked which way others were going (left) and went right (no line). Could it be that everyone hears the left side is shorter so they go that way causing the right side to be shorter now? Who knows.

I think it is a case of lemming syndrome. Everybody sees all the people going left so their brains tell them they have to go left too. They don't even look and see that there is another queue to the right. Benefit of being a Diser, you know all the little park secrets. :thumbsup2

HI kristi !! Funny you should say that about the lines and Lessa too!! I kept thinking aren't the left supposed to be shorter and yet the right almost always was :rotfl2:I got in the short one all the time !!! When are you going again Kristi!!!

Trying to give you the benefit of a doubt....:thumbsup2
But impatient works for me.;)
 I figure I will wait until Wednesday and if the status still reads as "processing" then I will give them a call. It is all a bit weird as we did not even get an e-mail confirmation that the order had been placed like we were supposed to.
I love your hair Lessa, very pretty and I'm another CoP lover we have to ride it every trip!
I didn't know your Mum had MS, so pleased the humidity didn't affect her.
Sounds like a great meet and it's fantastic you finally met Rosie :goodvibes
She did have a bit of trouble with her MS this trip but not much, at least not that she let on.
What a fantastic day!! Good ride mojo and a fabulous DIS meet! Your hair looks great :thumbsup2 Love the pictures, they really make your TR come alive!
Thank you! I love to take pictures and I really enjoy sharing them with everybody. I'm not even sharing all of them either as they won't fit! I would have to have posts that are nothing but pictures. :rotfl:

I'm hoping to go down one more time before my seasonal pass expires (Oct. 15), but work is causing problems. We are having to change work schedules but we don't know when or exactly what the new one will be (other than working 4 Sat. in a row). Can't make any plans until we know more.

I had a pretty good sleep that night, only woke up a few times to the melodic sound of Mom's snoring. :lmao:
I had set the wake-up call for 7am, we were headed to Epcot that day. The big event of the day was the Mammoth May Meet in France at 3pm.
All dressed and bag packed for the day we headed down to the food court to purchase a mug and fill it up. Last trip I started every morning with a cup of apple juice, sadly they had gotten rid of the apple juice and the frozen coke machine :sad1: so I had to settle for lemonade. On the way to the car we ran into Rosie who was on her way to the bus stop. She was also headed to Epcot so we offered her a ride.
We got to Epcot pretty quickly and we got a really good parking spot. We were pretty much as close to the entrance as you could get without being in handicapped parking.
We even were lucky enough to get a spot in line up close to the turnstyle. We chatted with the family that was in line ahead of us. Turned out they were from Canada too, Winnipeg to be exact. I gave them some touring advise as they were not sure where they were going but they knew that they wanted to go to Soarin. I advised them that they should go there first and gave them directions which was not hard to do, I just told them to follow the mob. They laughed and said that they should just follow me around the park all day as it seemed like I knew what I was doing. They also complimented me on my Tink necklace, the first of many compliments, I seemed to get a lot of attention over that necklace.
The turnstyles opened and we made our way into the park. We were pretty close to the rope, only a few people back. Mom and Rosie chatted while I snapped pictures.

As soon as the rope dropped the three of us headed over to Soarin with the rest of the crowd. We got on the ride pretty quickly. In fact we got to skip ahead of the line a bit as they were calling out for a party of three.
The ride was fun as always, and it was fun getting to ride it with Rosie, a fellow Diser and Focker.
After Soarin we parted ways with Rosie, we were planning on heading over to Test Track. As we passed the Character Spot we changed our minds though. We decided that we would save Test Track for our next Epcot day and stick with exploring one side of Future World for that day. The line for the characters was rather short so we said "Why not!"
I prefer the photopass pictures that got taken here but since the cd has not arrived yet I will have to settle for posting the pictures from our camera.

Usually my feet are fine if they are the more cushy kind of flip flops. The flip flops I wore that day, well they were a HUGE mistake. I basically live in flip flops but I should have known better than to have worn that particular pair. I'll get into that more a bit later in the TR. ;)

Hi Lessa’s mom here, just chiming in, I've been in and out of it for the past few days, so I haven’t been posting, just reading along (Oh, how I wish I were still on holiday) as I was sitting at work today, by mind drifted back to a week ago when we were at Castaway Key, and I thought where did the time go; thank goodness for Lessa’s trip report it brings it all back with a BIG bonus of a laugh, a smile and of fond memories. This week I have been dealing with grueling physio for my frozen shoulder 3x a week for 1 hour, the past few days I've been battling a very nasty cold... and work...!!**?@!%&*^!!!, I am hoping to see some brighter and happier days ahead once I move into new position in Major Gifts, and away from Gift Admin.
My two week holiday with Lessa was wonderful, how I survived that first day, all I have to say it must have been Disney Magic, I was pretty beat as the evening wore on. I found that the heat really did not really affect me as in previous years as the humidity wasn’t too high due to all the wonderful weather we experienced throughout the week. Heat/Humidity do not work well with me and my MS. Someone on this thread mentioned earlier in the week about my sandals, they are the best for someone who is on their feet all day. The are called Fitflops, very pricey though, here in Canada I paid around $85.00, well worth it!!!!; check out this website. http://www.fitflop.com/. I never had any sore feet at the end of day, I felt for Lessa, as I had learn last year that some sandals are just not meant for walking and standing in for long periods of time. My only recommendation is that if you buy the black sandals they stain your feet, if you get them wet. I had some very funny tan lines on my feet on a few occasions.
It was nice to go into the parks this year without an agenda, it was very relaxing to wander and not feel so harried and rushed to get from point A to Point B; we each knew what we did and didn’t want to do, and yes I (MOM) had a few surprises along the way. I found this year compared to previous years that the CM's and Character interactions were more personal, relaxed and less rushed. I do agree with Lessa, that sometimes that as an adult without children the a aim and focus of the photographer is not there, on a few occasions we asked, or did a few extra things with the characters to get just a few more pictures.
I meet some very special people and made some friends along the way on this trip, (as I do on each of our trips) in fact some may say that "we were stalking" these special people have added to my wonderful memories. Even without the "Brother's Grimm" Lessa and I had some very interesting and magical moments of our own, as I am sure she will share, but I have to say not a day went by that Alek and Erich did not enter out thoughts and bring about a smile and laugh about what if…
Well all for now, sit back and enjoy, I’ll be sure to pop back in from time to time and throw my 2 cents in, you know I have to keep things interesting.

Beth - I was the person asking about your Fitflops. I tried a pair on and thought they'd be great for WDW. I may go back and buy them now. They're not expensive here at all. I saw them for $19.99! Quite a bargain compared to $85! Yeesh! :faint:

Love, love, love the photpass pictures...although I hate you both for looking so fabulous after such a long day;)
I agree T and Jo, I really liked the photopass borders this year, very pretty.
Are there more options this year?
How many did you wind up with after adding borders?

I think there are a few more options this year. The tink "Where dreams come true" border is still there. There were some special princess borders and fairies borders, don't know if those were there last year. Overall I just like the confetti look of the borders I guess, very pretty.
We ended up with just over 400 photos when all was said and done.

After paling around with Mickey and the gang we decide to head over to The Seas pavilion.

We went on the Nemo clamshell ride where the CM told us to buckle up! Of course we began looking around for a seatbelt, silly CM playing tricks on us as there are no belts on this ride! The CM's loved to play little tricks like this on us throughout the trip.
The ride was unremarkable just as I remembered. The main reason we came to The Seas was to check out the aquariums as we had never done that before. We took the escalator up to view the tanks. In one we saw a couple dolphins, they were really far away on the other side of the tank though so we didn't get a very good view of them.
We moved on to the big aquarium where we saw a diver feeding a stingray. After the diver left the stingray started to swim around and all the fish started following it! It reminded me of Finding Nemo with the stingray teacher and Nemo and all his little friends swimming under and behind him.

While looking at all the beautiful flower displays who should we see out and about? Mary Poppins! First I got my picture taken alone with her although it didn't turn out as I look horrible in it and Mary has her eyes closed. She did chat with me for a few minutes telling me how all the chimney sweeps would fight over me, sure thing Mary! Then Mom and I got our picture with her together, that one turned out much better.

Moving on from the Bambi pictures....
I'm not sure where exactly this was, Mom took the picture and it was in between the Canada and England photos so it had to be somewhere around there. It is very pretty though.

http://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll421/polnickyhunt/Disney%20May%202009/May%2017th%20-%20Epcot/D2116.jpg
We meandered our way over to Beaches and Cream and actually got there a few minutes before they opened for lunch. There was only one other group waiting to be seated.
We took a seat at an outdoor table and waited for them to open. I took the opportunity to moan and complain about my feet. The flip flops I had chosen to wear that day were a big mistake, a mistake I would come to majorly regret! They had absolutely no cushioning at all and my feet were killing me. I figured I could soldier on through the day and I just wouldn't wear them again to the parks. I wonder if I would tough it out or if I would allow the pain to dictate my actions? :scratchin
After I had complained to Mom for a few minutes the hostess came out and opened the restaurant. She seated us first and gave us the option of booth, table or counter. We of course chose booth!
I didn't really need to look at the menu as I already knew what I was going to be ordering that day. I looked it over though just in case I saw something that would spark my interest. I decided to stick with my original decision though.
It didn't take too long for the food to come out.
Mom's lunch - Roast Beef Sub - Grilled Roast Beef with Au Jus and topped with Provolone Cheese, Grilled Onions, and Peppers
http://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll421/polnickyhunt/Disney%20May%202009/May%2017th%20-%20Epcot/D2120.jpg
My lunch - Cheeseburger as you can easily see ;)
http://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll421/polnickyhunt/Disney%20May%202009/May%2017th%20-%20Epcot/D2121.jpg
The cheeseburgers are delicious and they are only about $1.50 more expensive than what you would pay for a counter-service burger. Definitely the best value in my opinion as it is far tastier than a counter service burger and much more filling.
The waitress saw me taking pictures of our food and asked if we would like a picture of us together so of course we said we would!
http://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll421/polnickyhunt/Disney%20May%202009/May%2017th%20-%20Epcot/D2119.jpg
Our lunch was delicious but of course the main reason I came here to eat that day was for the dessert!
Mom didn't want to order an ice cream dish so she ordered "Mom's Chocolate Cake". She may not have wanted ice cream but she got a scoop of it anyways with her cake!
http://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll421/polnickyhunt/Disney%20May%202009/May%2017th%20-%20Epcot/D2122.jpg
I, of course, had to order the dessert I had been salivating over for the past two and a half years, the No Way Jose!
A brief aside from the trip report - When Mom and I had gotten back from the trip we hooked the camera up to the tv to show Alek and Erich all our pictures. When we got to the Beaches and Cream pictures all they could talk about was how the next time we go back to WDW they are going to order the Kitchen Sink again, no lunch, just the Kitchen Sink and they vow they are going to eat the whole thing themselves. Something to look forward to!
No Way Jose - A Peanut Butter and Hot Fudge Delight with Chocolate and Vanilla Ice Cream, Peanut Butter and Chocolate Morsels, Whipped Cream and a Cherry
http://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll421/polnickyhunt/Disney%20May%202009/May%2017th%20-%20Epcot/D2123.jpg
SO GOOD! Nothing goes together better than peanut butter and chocolate!
I dug into my sundae with relish, while eating one of the chocolate chips fell off my spoon and down my shirt. Awkward! Of course I was not about to reach down into my shirt to retrieve it in the middle of the restaurant. That would have been a show! :lmao: I figured it would be fine there for a few minutes as we were almost done eating and I would just go into the closest bathroom when we were done and retrieve it.
The sundae was delicious but I was so full that I just could not finish it. I made a good dent in it though.
The waitress had brought us our bill while we were eating our desserts so we were able to get up and leave once we had had our fill.
Oh my how I cringed in pain when I got back up onto my feet, those darn flip flops had sure done a number on me.

Your photopass pics are so cute! Definitely worth the wait!
OMG, your Beaches and Cream photos have me drooling. You ordered exactly what I would order... cheeseburger, fries and a No Way Jose! I haven't actually tried B&C yet, but it's at the top of my list for my next trip. And I have my meal already picked out as you can see, lol.

Oh my gosh! Your lunch at B&C looks DIVINE! We haven't had dinner yet, and I'm getting quite hungry, so the steak sandwich and burger look really good! And that chocolate cake! And the No Way Jose (I had this when we went there, too)! Can you tell I'm hungry?
 Beaches and Cream is one of my fav Disney restaurants. I find that the prices are decent, the food is excellent, the restaurant is comfortable and the decor is pleasant and if you plan your timing right it should not be crowded. All the reasons why I love it!

Definitely make sure you go! I really regret not eating there on our first trip as we missed out! Last year I fell in love and I think I will probably eat there every time I go back now.

I didn't have a taste of it, I think I remember Mom saying it was a very rich cake. I'm sure she will chime it at some point and answer you on that account. :goodvibes

It is nice having WS to yourself. If only you could explore the other countries before it officially opened. They have WS roped off at the bridge between England and France and I assume the same is true on the other side between Norway and China.

Didn't that chip melt in a very uncomfortable place? :lmao:
I can't wait to try Beaches N Cream! That is exactly the lunch I have planned, Cheeseburger and a No Way Jose. But Mom and I are going to split the burger. I don't want to fill up on lunch with such a great dessert following.

It was actually kind of strange having England be so empty, you would think it was the Morocco pavilion! :lmao: I like Morocco but it always seems to be really empty. :confused3

Hmmm, the chip, that will come up in the next installment. ;)
Mom and I can very rarely split food as we have very different tastes. I am super picky and a very plain eater whereas she likes more exotic type foods and spices and such.

The PP pictures are great, but yours are better. :)
Sounds like a great day. We've not managed to go to any other resort yet, but B&C looks like it should be on our list.
Great installment, as always! :goodvibes

I thought it was very pretty, would not have wanted to have a ressie there that week, they probably had very long waits since it looks like half of their seating is outside and thus would have been unusable. :rolleyes1

You are movin' right along!
Gorgeous pictures!!! I love all the flowers. You did a great job!
You look wonderful in navy and white. I'm sorry about the flip flops. OUCH! I have a friend who wears them all the time. She gets blisters if she wears tennis shoes. :confused3

I live in flip flops except in the dead of winter and they are pretty much what I have worn to the parks in the past, no problem. That particular pair was new though and not comfortable AT ALL. If I had worn any of the other pairs that I brought I would have been fine. :headache:

We moved on to the big aquarium where we saw a diver feeding a stingray. After the diver left the stingray started to swim around and all the fish started following it! It reminded me of Finding Nemo with the stingray teacher and Nemo and all his little friends swimming under and behind him.
Hi Leesa and Mom.
Lessa, I don't know your mom's name, and I don't know how I missed this on the regular board. I've been trying to spend more time on the pre-trip boards and I keep begging for another moderator, but no one seems to listen.
I just want to comment on the above statement.
First, I can't believe this was your first time in the aquarium, lol.
My dh made us spend a lot of time in there and we watched the demonstration of "feeding the fish". We learned that they feed the stingray's, the stingrays are messy eaters and the smaller fish follow along and eat the scraps left over.
Just what you wanted to know.
Looking forward to your report, I'm still trying to get my dd's on a cruise this summer, a last minute cruise and time is running out. And then I was watching the weather channel, and they are hounding the channel with hurrican predictions, so who knows.
I think I hi-jacked your thread long enough.

Hi Lessa's Mom, I thought the chocolate cake was very dry, almost stale, the ice cream was delicious.
