Didn't waste any time on the ship after getting changed, we wanted to maximize our time in port. A quick scan of the Key to the World card and we were off the ship.
http://i659.photobucket.com/albums/uu313/lifelongdreamer/D11373.jpg
A nice person took a picture of Mom and I and I returned the favour.
http://i659.photobucket.com/albums/uu313/lifelongdreamer/D11374.jpg
Road Town was only a short walk from the ship, it took maybe five minutes to get into the town. First we had to go through "security". It was basically some guards checking to make sure that you had a photo id and your cruise ship boarding card as they will not let you back onto the dock unless you have both of those id's. The guard who checked mine warned me not to lose them or I would be stuck on Tortola. I laughed and said there could be worse things than getting stuck in paradise.
Our main goal on this expedition was to track down a drug store to get some cough drops and medicine. I think Mom asked every single person that we passed where we could find one.
http://i659.photobucket.com/albums/uu313/lifelongdreamer/D11375.jpg

http://i659.photobucket.com/albums/uu313/lifelongdreamer/D11380.jpg
The first place that we got directed to was more of a pharmacy counter where you pick up prescriptions than a regular drug store so they did not have what we were looking for so our search continued. We were told to go two blocks back from the main road and there would be a drug store next to the post office.
http://i659.photobucket.com/albums/uu313/lifelongdreamer/D11381.jpg
Once we left the main road the streets became very narrow and there were no sidewalks so we had to be very aware of any traffic. There wasn't much though on the back streets.
http://i659.photobucket.com/albums/uu313/lifelongdreamer/D11382.jpg
http://i659.photobucket.com/albums/uu313/lifelongdreamer/D11383.jpg
Well remember how we were told that the drug store was next to the post office? Well Mom made sure to ask a lady standing right in front of the post office where the post office was. :lmao:
We found the "drug store" right next to it like we had been told. It was nothing like a drug store here in Canada or in the States but it served its purpose. We found some cough drops and Nyquil and it was pretty cheap too.
As soon as we left the store I popped a cough drop and we made our way back to the main road.

Mom and I browsed through all the shops but didn't really see anything that struck our fancy. In addition to the typical touristy stores there were some high end jewelry and watch stores. We went in there and admired all the pretty baubles before heading back to the ship.
On the way back to the ship we heard one rooster that kept crowing every 30 seconds or so. It was hilarious, he just wouldn't stop!

Weekend was fun. My university won the Yates Cup (football) and so are moving on the the National Championship(Vanier Cup). Work was busy though as a result as people felt the need to drink themselves silly and have huge parties to "celebrate".
Then Alek came over on Sunday and we decorated the tree(s) for Christmas. :thumbsup2
That sounds kind of fun!! I bet everyone is so excited!! How do your trees look? We put ours up this weekend too! Feel free to post pictures!! :goodvibes
Tortola looks so beautiful! I'm glad you were able to find some medicine too!! I laughed when I saw that the Bat cave has a sign quite similiar to this one superhero guy. :rolleyes1 That's hilarious! I wouldn't want to go in there though! Gross!

Lessa! I'm in the middle of reading that tr!! I'm at the part after the Indiana Jones show where Erich thought that something had gone terribly wrong!! Anywho...I just wanted to say I am just like you with the "laughing fits". Although, I call them laugh attacks because when I was younger I knew this boy who did that and thats what he called them!!
Isn't it terrible though?! Especially when it comes out of the blue because you remember something and start cracking up and then someone asks whats so funny and you're laughing way too hard to talk and everyone thinks your crazy?! yeah I get that a lot! :rolleyes1

Yes, I thought the Bat Cave sign was funny as well. I didn't investigate to see if it was actually a cave of bats or just their funny name for a bar.
I have an extreme fear of bats so no way I would have gone there if it was actually a cave of bats. :scared1:

One of the gift shops on board does sell the very basic medicine like Advil etc but the prices are more expensive than what you would pay on land. Also I didn't want to get flagged as having bought meds on the ship! I would have if we hadn't found anything in town or I might have waited to get to St Thomas the next day and gone to K-Mart. :lmao:
So glad you were eventually able to get your medicine and it looks like it enabled you to explore the island but as Janet said were there no meds on board?
See my response above. ;)
We would have explored anyways it is just too bad that buying meds was part of the exploration.

I have laughing fits/laugh attacks all the time! In high school I was famous for them, I could never stop laughing even when I didn't know what I was laughing about. Somebody in the class would start laughing and so I would start laughing, so embarrassing! :guilty: Also often when I laugh I laugh so hard that I tear up and I can't breathe. :sad2:

Alek came over on Sunday and we decorated the Christmas trees. We had put them up earlier in the week and added all the lights and ribbon but we always wait for Alek before putting on the ornaments.
The living room tree the night before it got decorated.

Our cats LOVE the Christmas tree and as soon as it was up they were sleeping under it. I didn't get any pictures until after we decorated though.

All decorated! The metal for the top part of the tree somehow got warped and won't sit straight in the slot, that is why it looks like the tree is tilted. We are going to have to stuff some paper in to make the top stand up straight I think.

It takes us forever to put ours up as well. The "trunk" is three pieces that have to be fit together and then each branch has to be fitted into a slot individually and fluffed out. That is why we do it in stages over a couple nights.
Phase 1 - Assemble Tree
Phase 2 - String the lights
Phase 3 - Put on the ribbon
Phase 4 - Decorate

That's funny! I still have them sometimes too!! It can be embarrassing. The other day I was reading someone's tr and they were staying in the GF and they said someone was taking them to their room and spoke into their headset saying "We're ready to move out" or something and the girl was like "I think he was just saying it to intimidate me" and for some reason I found this hilarious and started cracking up at work, while sitting all alone, and everyone thought I was crazy! :sad2: Oh well!

Okay, I just did some research at it is indeed a bar that is Batman themed. Here's what I found:
Cool Place
Fun time at the Bat Cave and great drinks. We were there when no one else was...it was fun...take pictures in the dance area - which provides a pole for those of you who want to try pole dancing!
Apparently it is attached to a restaurant called Spaghetti Junction

They don't really scan your bags that throughly, they are pretty much making sure that you are not bringing something dangerous like a weapon on board. I don't think the scanner would be able to tell the difference between a bag of candy and a bag of cough drops.

Back on the ship we decided to head up to deck 9 to grab some ice cream from the self-serve station.
We took the elevator that drops you off by the spa.
http://i659.photobucket.com/albums/uu313/lifelongdreamer/D11408.jpg
One of the things that I didn't get to do that I had wanted to was visit the Rainforest room at the spa. Something to do next time I guess!
The ice cream station is on the other side of the ship from the spa. On the walk over I ran into Daisy Duck!
http://i659.photobucket.com/albums/uu313/lifelongdreamer/D11409.jpg
Right before I was about to get my picture with her a mother shoved her kid in front of me to get a picture even though I was clearly there before her. It really annoys me when people act like that. Just because I am an adult does not mean that I don't want a character picture and I hate it when parents assume that their kid takes precedence over me. Rant over!
Ice cream in hand we made our way back to our room. I threw myself down on the couch to take a look over the activities for the night. It was Pirate Night onboard so all the characters were going to be out in their pirate gear, the dining rooms would have a special pirate menu and then off course there would be the pirate party and fireworks with a pirate dessert buffet directly afterwards.
There was no show in the theatre that night, I am assuming because of the deck party. Instead they were showing Disney Earth in the big theatre.
Since I wasn't feeling 100% and just wasn't feeling like a big meal we decided to skip dinner in the dining room and just grab something quick on the pool deck before the party.
http://i659.photobucket.com/albums/uu313/lifelongdreamer/D11410.jpg
I still had to get my picture with the characters so we made our way down to the atrium to get in line and once again I ran into my line buddy and her son. I was always first in line and she was always second.

http://i659.photobucket.com/albums/uu313/lifelongdreamer/D11413.jpg
Captain Jack Sparrow was also our for pictures but his line was ridiculous. It wrapped all the way around the atrium, I knew there would be another picture op with his later in the cruise and a much more appropriate one at that so I skipped his line.
Mom and I stopped by Parrot Cay so that we could let our servers know that we would not be at dinner and then we went up to deck 10 to watch as we sailed away from Tortola.
We grabbed a table on deck 10 overlooking the Goofy pool and just watched the scenery go by. Eventually I went down to Pluto's Dog House and grabbed a basket of chicken strips and fries.Mom had tacos for dinner. My chicken strips were delicious! I did not for one moment regret not eating dinner in the dining room.
I left Mom with her book at one point so I could go back inside and get my picture with Minnie.
I arrived right as Stitch was finishing up so I got in line for him as well.
The photographers camera stopped working so I took a picture for the family in front of me and they took a picture for me. We did the same thing for each other when Minnie came out.

We shared our space with a very nice family from Wichita, Kansas. They had asked us if they could pull up a chair next to our table so that their daughters could see the party.
A waiter came by to see if we wanted a drink. Mom and I decided to indulge and we both ordered a drink. I had a Pina CoLava and I got it in the special glowing Pirate cup.
http://i659.photobucket.com/albums/uu313/lifelongdreamer/D11421.jpg
The party finally started. Several CM's dressed in pirate gear came out and started the dancing and then they were soon joined by Minnie, Goofy, Chip and Dale. Minnie and Goofy led the dancing up on stage and Chip and Dale went out into the crowd to dance.

http://i659.photobucket.com/albums/uu313/lifelongdreamer/D11429.jpg
Captain Hook then showed up and took over the party. Fortunately Mickey Mouse showed up to save the party!
http://i659.photobucket.com/albums/uu313/lifelongdreamer/D11439.jpg
Mickey came swinging down from one of the stacks and the fireworks started going off. All to the tune of "Holding Out For A Hero". Disney is the only cruise line who has fireworks at sea. If you looked out to sea while the fireworks were going off you could see that other cruise lines had positioned their ships within viewing distance. That's right, they all recognize the awesomeness of the Mouse and are trying to hone in on it.
Here is a video of the fireworks. I'll post video of the whole party once it finishes uploading. Now if you are expecting Wishes you will be disappointed but it was fun to see the fireworks go off with the music in the background.
Fireworks At Sea (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuV0qpJtOiQ)
After the fireworks we made our way down to deck 9 to check out the buffet but it was packed! We couldn't even get close. We weren't really hungry so it wasn't a big deal but definitely watch the fireworks from deck 9 if you want a crack at the buffet.
I did manage a couple shots of the display.

We were pretty beat by this time. You will remember we had woken up super early that morning to watch the sunrise.
We were greeted by a towel monkey when we got back to the room.

Also with our navigator that night we had two chocolate pirate coins instead of the usual Sleepy Dwarf chocolates.
Now I apologize in advance for the TMI.
Since we had another full port day ahead of us I knew that a good nights sleep was important both for my health and for my energy level. I went into the bathroom to down a Nyquil tablet. I have always had the hardest time swallowing pills. In fact the first time I was even able to do it was when I was 19! Even now much of the time I can not get the pill down, I have a very sensitive gag reflex. Well wouldn't you know it I couldn't get the gel cap down which caused my gag reflex to act up and the sink ended up looking like a pepto bismal bottle had exploded all over it due to that Pina CoLava that I had indulged in earlier. :lmao: I'm talking bright pink! Of course I wasn't laughing at the time, I was pretty miserable, but I did eventually get the darn NyQuil down and thankfully it was only the sink that had suffered the effects of my dilemma.
I curled up in bed for a good nights sleep. We had another early day ahead of us as the Magic would be docking in St Thomas!

It actually wasn't that bad. Lots of room up on deck 10 if you only wanted to observe and even down on deck 9 there was lots of room to the sides of the stage. The only place it was super crowded was right in the middle.
And I had to laugh a the Minnie pics. She likes to show her undies doesn't she:lmao:

Oh yeah, liquid anything is no problem, it is just pills that are my issue. Growing up it always frustrated my doctors as they always had to find a liquid medicine that they could treat me with instead of the pills they would usually prescribe.

Ok...the Bat Cave bar sounds more intriguing now that its not real bats. I've always wanted to practice my pole dancing in a bar themed like a super hero!! :rotfl:
Oh and about your rant...just an fyi. It really isn't because you don't have a kid. Some people are just rude and think they are the only people trying to enjoy a vacation. This happened to me while I had Landon at Chef Mickey's. I don't know what those peoples deal were. Maybe this kind of people just don't trust lines and don't think everyone will get their turn so they have to be rude and demand it and take some away from others. I don't get it. But don't feel singled out...people who are that rude usually don't have enough class to even hold it in sometimes!
Also, pirates night looks SOOOOO fun! I'm sorry you weren't feeling too well!! Man, that is just not fun! I cannot take pills to save my life either. I just want to warn you for whenever you get pregnant in the future, prenatal pills that they want you to take EVERY day are the HUGEST pills EVER!! After a couple of appointments where I would always tell her that I just couldn't swallow the dang pills and no longer tried, she finally admitted that they weren't that important, just recommended. So...when the day comes that you are pregnant, and someone tries to tell you that you NEED to take your prenatal pills or something will go awry, you remember my rambling on about this and punch them in the face and blame it on your pregnancy hormones! :rotfl:
(Okay...I'm done. I was up late last night for a midnight movie premiere and then had to wake up less than 3 hours later to get to work. So please understand my crazy rambling!)

Sorry you were sick and had the gag issue. I totally understand. I suck at swallowing pills too. Though I can get more of them down ok if I take it with pop because it fizzes and I can't feel the pill in my mouth. :confused3 Go figure but it works for me.
Pirate party looks like fun. I love that Disney even does fireworks from the ship. They may not be wishes but they are good enough and other ships take advantage of it! Disney should charge them. :rotfl:

I MUST have one! I saw these on a thread today and I can't stop thinking about them, they are consuming my every thought!
The bigger one is $175 and the smaller is $150. There is also a wristlet option that is under $100. They are only sold in a few stores on property BUT I can get my hands on one if I call up the Merchandise line. Shipping to Canada would cost $100 so I would have to ship it to my family in Ohio, that would only be $20. Only problem with that is that I would not get the purse until the spring or summer.
I am in complete agony! I am totally struggling with whether I should order it or not. :cutie:

I had set my alarm for 6am as we had an early excursion booked for our St Thomas port day. Well 6am arrived too soon, I awoke to my cell phone alarm going off but I was still feeling yucky so I went back to sleep for an hour and told Mom to wake me up at 7am. She woke me promptly at 7am and after I showered I felt a bit better.
While I was sleeping Mom watched our arrival into St Thomas from the verandah.
http://i659.photobucket.com/albums/uu313/lifelongdreamer/D12001.jpg
http://i659.photobucket.com/albums/uu313/lifelongdreamer/D12002.jpg
Mom and I got ready for our excursion and packed our day bag and then it was off to Topsiders to grab some breakfast before meeting our excursion group in the Buena Vista Theatre.
Three excursions were meeting here as we were all heading over to St John.
Unlike the excursion from the day before we actually had a Disney CM accompanying us on our excursion in addition to the guide from the tour company that Disney contracts.
It was pretty much the same procedure as the day before, check-in with your ticket, pick up some towels and get a Disney character sticker to wear on your shirt. Our group was Purple Pocahontas. Mom chatted with the Disney CM who would be coming on the excursion with us. She was from a student from Canada and was only working for DCL over the summer. Her job is to work the excursion desk and go on excursions, pretty sweet job if you ask me.
We were led off the ship and over to our "ferry" boat. Once again we were the only cruise ship in port. That is very unusual for St. Thomas so we were really lucky this trip that we did not have to deal with the crowds from other cruise ships at either of the ports. Due to the fact that there were no other cruise ships in port that day our ferry/shuttle boat was able to pull up right next to the Magic.
Mom and I grabbed some seats up on top so we could enjoy the sea air and the view.
As the boat began to pull away a CM from the Magic came running over signaling for the boat to come back. So we pulled back up to the dock. Apparently some guests were running late and they wanted the boat to wait. We waited five minutes but they never showed so we left without them.
I was really irritated that they even waited those five minutes. You get very little time on the excursion as it is so I think it is very unfair that they tried to keep us all waiting. Maybe it in uncharitable of me to say that but that is how I see it. It is clearly marked on your excursion tickets what time you need to meet your excursion group. Not only is it listed on your tickets but it is also listed on the navigator. So if you don't make it on time that is your own fault and the rest of the people who showed up on time should not be penalized. Vent over!
We had a very nice guide and he spent the whole ride over talking to us about the island and its history. He used to live in the continental US but several years ago he decided to move down to St Thomas. He lives on a boat in the harbour and leads excursions for a living. He really loves it down there and doesn't regret it for a minute. I don't blame him, St Thomas is beautiful!

This is the shuttle that runs between Charlotte Amalie, St Thomas and Road Town, Tortola. The two islands are pretty close together so we had not traveled very far overnight.

I think St Thomas would be the perfect base island to stay on while exploring the US and British Virgin Islands. It has great resorts and lots of transportation options to make it very easy to get around and visit the other surrounding islands.

Next Update: We continue on our journey to St John, USVI.

So they won't charge duty if it is marked as being under $60?

Correct. Have them list it as a purse but under $60 (pick an amount other 60 because that's too obvious lol) and marked as a gift. Chances of them opening it are small. Chances of any custom agent knowing it's worth more than that if they do is even smaller.
My family and I ship gifts back and forth for a lot of bdays/Christmas etc.

:thumbsup2 I didn't know any of this. The only time I have had my grandparents ship something they put the actual value of the item and did not label it as a gift so I got stuck paying duty. Ever since that I always just shipped to their house and picked it up when I visited. I do have an aunt and uncle who are a bit more savvy than the grandparents so they could probably pull it off.

I have always wanted to visit the Virgin Islands ever since I saw Weekend at Bernie's II when I was a kid. My brothers and I thought that there was nothing more hilarious than the dead Bernie doing his voodoo walk around the island and under the sea. We must have watched that movie a million times growing up. So needless to say I was thrilled to finally be in the beautiful Virgin Islands where the movie was filmed.
We continued on our boat trip from St Thomas to St John with the guide telling us some history about the island and some other neat little tidbits.

This is alligator rock, it "guards" hurricane cove. According to our guide when a hurricane is predicted to hit St Thomas all the locals take their boats and dock them in this cove. The rocks, shallow water and brush in the area keep the area very well protected against the wind and violent seas of the storm.

St John is owned by the US National Park Service. It used to be owned privately by Laurence Rockefeller but back in 1956 he donated it to the Park Service stipulating that it must be protected from future development. As a result 75% of the island is a dedicated National Park, completely untarnished. There are a few resorts and vacation homes on the island and a small town but for the most part when you visit St John it is just you and nature.
Our guide was very enthusiastic in his appreciation of Rockefeller and his wonderful contribution thus preserving this natural paradise for our past, present and future enjoyment. I have to completely agree with this praise, St John is absolutely amazing and if you ever get the chance you should definitely visit. It is very easy to get to as hourly shuttles run between St Thomas and St John and there is also a shuttle that runs daily between St John and Tortola (they are only 4 miles apart).

I LOVE St John- I'm so happy you went, Tessa!! We go every year with friends of ours and stay in a villa. We'll be there at the end of January with them again for our 4th trip! Last year was the first time we went to Trunk (although our friends had been there before)- it was incredible, sooooo ,many fish to see and sooo beautiful. STJ is a very special island, very laid back and very, very beautiful! Can't wait to see more pics!! :surfweb:

Weekend at Bernie's 1 (where they are actually at his house) takes place in Rhode Island.
Weekend at Bernie's 2 (where they are searching for the money Bernie stole) takes place and was filmed on St Thomas thus I couldn't see his house as you only see his house in the first movie which takes place in Rhode Island. ;) In the second movie they are staying at a resort on St Thomas. :thumbsup2

After the boat docked our guide informed us that we should all stay seated. They were going to load everybody onto the trucks based on excursion so he would call out each excursion and only those people should get off the boat. There were three different excursions on our boat and I thought this process was very orderly and organized. It enabled the staff to make sure that everybody got on the correct bus for their excursion.
Our group was last to be called and we all filed off the boat and were directed over to three open-air trucks that would transport us.
Once we were all loaded we began our drive. The boat docks in the little port town and it only takes a minute or two to get into the National Park. Just like Virgin Gorda there was a wonderful floral scent to the air, it smelt wonderful!
The drive was absolutely gorgeous, lots of lush green forest with glimpses of pristine white sand beaches.
http://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll421/polnickyhunt/Disney%20May%202009/May%2027th%20-%20St%20Thomas/D12094.jpg
A funny thing that we all noted was that every vehicle on the island seemed to be a Jeep or a Land Rover, mostly Jeeps though. The roads are very hilly and steep so I can understand why you would need that kind of vehicle on the island.
The roads were really well maintained and not bumpy at all, a very comfortable ride.
About 15 minutes into the drive our truck pulled over at an overlook of Trunk Bay which was our destination. Trunk Bay is rated as one of the top ten beaches in the world!

It was beautiful and we were so so lucky. When there are multiple ships in port I hear that it can get rather crowded. If it weren't for the bad weather on the cruise I would have had said our sailing was charmed as we were the only ship in both ports.

I love hearing stories like that, it makes you believe that people really do follow their dreams.

There was a nice sized parking lot at the front of the park. The trucks all pulled up next to each other and we were instructed to gather together once through the "gate" for some information and instructions.
To get through the entrance we had to show our excursion wrist bands. Trunk Bay charges admission so the wrist bands waved the fee.
I was impressed with the bathrooms and changing facilities here. They were much nicer than at The Baths! Large, roomy and clean!

This is the little stand where you could buy food and drinks. You really don't want to though as it is all overpriced and the birds will try and steal your food from you.

We all gathered around our guide and he told us how much time we had and when to be back at the trucks. He said he would announce a 20 minute warning from the lifeguard stand. He also said that if you are late arriving at the trucks they would not wait around so be on time!
He also gave us information on the snorkeling gear we could use that was part of the excursion price. Mom and I would not be using it as we had brought our own equipment. He also told us what not to do when snorkeling (don't step on the coral etc as it is a protected nature reserve and steping on the coral can not only cause injury but you are also killing the coral and the organisms that live on it).

The snorkeling trail was over by the island (which you are not allowed on) and was marked by three coloured buoys in the water.

Mom and I were sharing the snorkel equipment so I told her to go out first as she has snorkeled before and knew what she was doing. She came back after a few minutes though. Her shoulder had been causing her pain on the trip as it was frozen and so she did not feel comfortable swimming out far with the bad arm.

I had never been snorkeling before and I was a bit nervous so I decided to go get some instruction from the park staff who was leading a free beginner lesson. He was very helpful and I got used to snorkeling almost right away.
The only piece of snorkeling equipment that we used that was provided by the excursion/park was the inflatable vest that they make you wear. You don't actually have to inflate it but you must wear it if you are going to snorkel.
Vest on and gear put on properly I began to make my way out to the snorkel trail. I ran into my character line buddy and her son, she was trying to teach him how to snorkel but he was too afraid.
I loved snorkeling! There were so many beautiful fish and it was so neat getting to see them all and the coral and everything else on the sea floor. There were information markers on the sea floor that gave you information on the various types of fish species and lifeforms in the area. Very neat! I have no idea why I was so nervous about snorkeling or why I thought it would be difficult, it was really easy!
I had a disposable waterproof camera with me but it was very difficult to take pictures with it as I couldn't really see through the viewfinder while wearing the goggles. I never bothered having the film developed as I am pretty sure none of the pictures came out nicely. This experience has made me determined to buy a waterproof digital camera before my next cruise. It will be useful at WDW too as it always seems to rain when we go so we will be able to take pictures there without worrying that the rain will ruin our camera. :lmao:
I have no idea how long I was out snorkeling but it must have been about 45 minutes at least. Time just flew by while I was out there.
When I got back to shore Mom took my picture.

I'm glad to know that you had such a great time snorkeling. I've always wanted to do it, and tried once at Castaway, until a small jellyfish came face to face with me-then that was it. Maybe one day I'll get the courage to try again. It's very cool that they provided the lesson for you, as well as the information about the sea life! Very, very neat!

 The jellyfish would scare me off as well. Out of all the years we lived in Virginia Beach I only got stung once and that was enough for me. Ouch! Didn't even know what had happened. One moment I was bobbing in the waves laughing and chatting with my friends, next thing I know my upper arm felt like it was on fire!
Lessa you are much braver than me !!! I would never snorkel unless my feet could touch the bottom!!:rotfl2:
I am a pretty stong swimmer and the water wasn't too deep where I was snorkeling. Plus that is why you have to wear the inflatable vest, it keeps you floating on the surface. :thumbsup2 Not to mention there are tons of lifeguards around keeping a close eye on everybody.
Scuba diving, don't think I could do that. You go way too deep and you are out in the middle of the ocean with nothing but your oxygen tank keeping you alive. Too scary for me! I'll stick to snorkeling. :thumbsup2;)

 I was a bit nervous, more about running into some other kind of sea creature other than a fish. I think it was on the Community Board that I read a report on a St John vacation (maybe it was Podsnel who wrote it?). Anyways in this report a friend was just enjoying the ocean water, not even snorkeling, and a little octopus wrapped itself around the writer's friend's leg! :scared1:

I laid out on the beach with Mom for awhile after I finished snorkeling. We still had lots of time left so I decided to head back out into the water for some more snorkeling. As you can see I really liked it!
After my second trip out it was getting close to departure time so I stayed on the beach with Mom drying off and taking more pictures.
The pink ball is one of the buoys that mark the snorkeling trail.

The day we were there, my friend, Jane, got attacked by an octopus!! :scared1: It was a little one, but it wrapped around her foot- we think because of her toe ring. Her scream was heard for miles...:rotfl: :rotfl2: and the whole beach came to see what was up, including the life guards. Anyway, I am so glad you got up the nerve to snorkel, because it IS beautiful in that water AND unique!!

Beautiful!! That seems pretty far out though. Wow. did you inflate? I'd have to inflate and float. I used to be a strong swimmer but the joints aren't allowing for that anymore.
Ellen you have to pm me the rest of the octopus story. I need to know how it ended!
