Lessa, I don't know your mom's name, and I don't know how I missed this on the regular board. I've been trying to spend more time on the pre-trip boards and I keep begging for another moderator, but no one seems to listen.

I just want to comment on the above statement.
First, I can't believe this was your first time in the aquarium, lol.
My dh made us spend a lot of time in there and we watched the demonstration of "feeding the fish". We learned that they feed the stingray's, the stingrays are messy eaters and the smaller fish follow along and eat the scraps left over.

Just what you wanted to know.

Looking forward to your report, I'm still trying to get my dd's on a cruise this summer, a last minute cruise and time is running out. And then I was watching the weather channel, and they are hounding the channel with hurrican predictions, so who knows.

I think I hi-jacked your thread long enough.

Thanks for the info on the rays and the fish, I had no idea! If you do go on a cruise while a hurricane is approaching they simply alter the route that the ship sails. Also there is a lot of stuff going on inside the ship that you can do should you encounter rain, well at least that is how it is on a Disney Cruise.

What day was this? That might be me and my husband on the Segway tour! :)

Your F&G pics are just awesome! We didn't get as many pics as we planned to because of the rain :sad2:. But I wish we would have stuck to our scedule and went to Epcot on Sunday too. The empty WS pics are great too! It's also easier to take pictures without people walking in your way. I have to show DH your B&C pics, he will want to go back to Disney just for the food ;). Too :rotfl:about the chocolate chip. I have looked at your pics on FB but will not missing your TR :thumbsup2.

The flower festival was definitely beautiful. The dates for it change every year so if it is something you are considering keep an eye out for the 2010 dates. I think it typically starts in March and extends to the end of May/beginning of June.

SO GOOD! Nothing goes together better than peanut butter and chocolate!

Because of that breathtaking picture I will figure out where the Boardwalk is and how to get there!!! I have gotta get that, it looks great!

Beaches and Cream is actually at the Beach Club resort. It is really easy to get to from Epcot. Simply walk through Canada and England and instead of turning to go into France keep heading straight. You will find another park entrance/exit there called the International Gateway. The Beach Club is not even a 5 minute walk from there straight ahead.

I left Beaches and Cream that day hobbling in pain from my very sore feet and stuffed full from the delicious lunch. I had completely forgotten about the chocolate chip down the shirt. When it had initially fallen down my shirt during lunch I had sort of pulled the shirt away from my skin a bit hoping that it would fall out the bottom instead of melting in an uncomfortable place....

We made our way back into Epcot, our goal for the day was to see some of the outdoor performances around the pavilions and to see the movie in France as we had not seen it before. There weren't any performances scheduled for about half an hour so we headed towards Morocco to explore a bit.

Once again we found the Morocco pavilion pretty much deserted. It seems like nobody ever goes in here. :confused3

There was a CM standing outside a set of shops and he waved me in offering to show me how each shop was different, he must have been very bored seeing as there was nobody else back there. I couldn't really understand him very well so I just smiled and nodded. He was talking about how one shop sold bronze, the other was carpets, one pottery etc. He was also asking where I was from etc. He then offered to write my name in Arabic, okay. While writing he pointed to his face where he was breaking out above his lip and asked if a fever caused that. At least that is what I think he asked, his English was kind of hard to understand. I said I wasn't sure but it was possible. He then pointed to me and asked if I had fever too???? At that point I was thinking "Thanks for pointing out my bad skin". At that point Mom wandered in and saved me from the awkward conversation. :lmao: I still puzzle over what exactly he was trying to say to me. Maybe he was saying that the heat in Florida was bad for the skin? Who knows, I was still miffed that he pointed out my flawed complexion. I am not vain but I sure don't need a blemish to be pointed out! :rolleyes:

We started heading towards France and I saw Belle out for pictures so I had to stop for a picture! The line wasn't too long at all.

When I got up to her she admired my "enchanted" necklace and asked if I had met Tink yet and I said that I hadn't. She then told me to pass a message to her when I did. It was "Tag you're it" Okay Belle.... The photopass photographer left at that point, Belle explained to me that their magical device was not working and asked if we had one of our own which of course we did. She also asked me if I had been eating ice cream that day and I told her I had. I wondered to myself, "Why on earth would she ask me that and how did she know" Of course I was still forgetting the chocolate chip....

We posed for our picture and then Mom and I were on our way.

As I put our bag back on I looked down at my skirt to see that my shirt had ridden up a bit and there in plain sight was a big melted chocolate mess on my beautiful white skirt! No!!!! That stupid chocolate chip had been shaken loose earlier when I played with my shirt and must have settled at the top of my skirt and melted while I finished my lunch at Beaches and Cream. :headache: So that is why Belle was asking if I had eaten ice cream, she was trying to hint to me about the mess on my skirt without breaking character. You can see it plain as day in the picture.

I hightailed it to the closest bathroom to try and clean it as much as I could. I got most of it off but there was still a faint chocolate stain on the skirt for the rest of the day. Thankfully my shirt was covering it most of the time.

Heading into France we saw another princess out for photos, Princess Aurora, also with a short line.

It was now time to see Serveur Amusant in France. This was one of the outdoor shows that we had wanted to see this day.

I had recorded most of the show but had to delete it as it was hogging up too much space on the memory card and I had to be conservative with the memory space as I still had two weeks of vacation left.

The show was funny, I loved the Chef and his whistle.

After the show we made our way over to see when the next showing of the France movie was and it was starting right then. The CM was still waving people in so we hurried over. When we walked in the theatre was pitch black, we could not see a thing! Mom started feeling her way around trying to find a seat while I stayed still waiting for the movie to start so there would be a little bit of light to see by. Mom meanwhile felt something soft and started patting it, well it turned out to be a guy sitting in the back row of the theatre. :lmao: I still laugh about Mom getting fresh with a stranger in the dark theatre. The room lit up a bit once the movie started playing and we were able to find seats after Mom apologized to the guy for feeling him up.

After the movie which was fairly mediocre we started to make our way over to England for the World Showcase Players. First we had to stop for a photopass picture!

At first I thought you had chocolate down the front of you or something. I couldn't see the chocolate in the pic with Aurora. You did a good job getting it washed out.

:lmao: I definitely would have noticed if the chocolate had been somewhere embarrasing.

I tried to keep the shirt pulled over the stain, wasn't always possible. You can see it really well in the Photopass pictures at the end. Thankfully a good scrubbing once back in the room and a proper washing later on remedied the problem and there was no permanent stain.

:laughing: I do remember our first time going it was a bit confusing to find. Best directions I can give once getting there is to enter the building and turn left and just keep following the hallway left until it ends and dumps you at the pool, Beaches and Cream is right there.

The CM didn't really embarass me I just thought the whole encounter was very strange. I'm sure he was just trying to be friendly. :goodvibes

What a HUGE difference in crowd volume from Christmas Eve on!! This time it's the beg. of Dec. We want the decorations and experience with less people! :woohoo:

Mom and I were headed to England to see the World Showcase Players. These folks are hilarious! The show that they put on in England is King Arthur and the Holy Grail We saw most of it last year and it had us in stitches so we knew that we wanted to see if from the beginning this year.

We found a nice spot on the curb right up front as they were setting up for the show. They do a little warm-up to get everybody excited for the show and to attract the people passing by so that they can build up an audience. One of the guys involved was telling jokes and he told this really awful one about why did the chicken cross the road. I don't even remember the exact joke but I do remember I was the only one who laughed. He said that I had a sick sense of humour and that he should get my number. Mom claims he was hitting on me, I say he was just being funny and it was all part of the show. Mom's favourite thing to do in WDW is to say that people are hitting on me. If a character is chatty with me, he is hitting on me, according to Mom.

The show got started and it was hilarious as usual. If you haven't seen this show definitely take the time to see it, you will not regret it. Also in case you did not know they pick three audience members to be the actors in the show which always turns out hilarious results. They do not ask for volunteers though, they simply pluck the people out of the audience. In this show the roles are Galahad, a witch and of course King Arthur. It is always so funny to see how the people will act out their roles. The Galahad they chose was excellent! I did not take video or pictures as I had recorded the show last year so I simply wanted to sit back and enjoy. After the show was over we went into the Toy Shop to see if they had any characters out for pictures and they had Pooh, Tigger and Eeyore. They had to go on a break but were coming right back so we got in line. Who should happen by at that moment? It was Rosie of course! She joined us in line and we all went in to see Pooh and friends together. This had to be my favourite character interaction of the whole trip. It was hilarious! We were dying of laughter which you can clearly see in the pictures.

I went up to the characters first and gave them all hugs. When it was Eeyore's turn I told him that he was my favourite. Pooh didn't like that very much and stomped off. He soon forgave me though and came back for another hug. Tigger was also bouncing around being his playful self. Pooh was messing around with Rosie. It was good times had by all. Since we had such a fabulous time with these characters I am going to post all our photos with them as I think it really reflects how awesome they were and what a great time we had. Some of the pics are not so flattering of me but I will post them anyways, as I said before, I'm not vain and I will post a bad picture. ;)

For some strange reason the photopass photographer did not take a group shot with all three of us with the characters, good thing we had one on our camera.

As we left the shop I saw Tigger peeking out the window waving goodbye, I wasn't fast enough with my camera to get a picture, it was very cute.

It was around 2:30 I think so we decided to head over to France as the Mammoth May Meet was due to begin at 3pm. So we figured we would just go find a bench and relax for a little while.

We saw the Characters In Flight balloon flying high over China.

The Serveur Amusant show began again, since I had basically only taken video of it before and I had to delete that I went over to watch again so that I could get some pictures.

I actually got chosen to be part of the show! They chose two audience members to be the guests in the restaurant and you get to sit down in the chair and the waiter brings by several wine bottles, you are meant to refuse all of them. Well as I was sitting there my eyes started to tear up, it was almost painful, I couldn't keep them open, I had to keep wiping at them. I just couldn't take it anymore! Since the show wasn't focused on my part anymore I tapped the shoulder of the woman standing next to me asked if she wouldn't mind taking over my spot as I had to get out of there. She agreed and I rushed off to try and wash my eyes out. I still don't know what happened to them, perhaps it was the sun, I'll never know. I felt much better after a few minutes and was able to catch the tail-end of the show.

I rejoined Mom and we were approached by a photopass photographer who asked if we were with the group that was meeting there at 3pm. We told him we were, he wasn't too sure what was going on, he had simply been told by his supervisor to be there for 3pm. We explained to him about the big meet and that most of the people wouldn't arrive until 3, it was then 2:45 I think.

We did take the opportunity to get a photopass picture taken while we were waiting!

I have to say Rosie it was the most fun I had in a long time, the things us single people have to do for fun, just leave to me I know how to :laughing::laughing:work a dark rooms, and open well lit areas very well LOL:rotfl::rotfl::lmao::lmao: Like I said this day I gave Lessa a run for her money, I kept her well entertained. I am so surprised she wanted to be seen with me for the rest of the trip, and then she thought she would have dull and boring time without the "Brothers Grimm", boy did I prove her wrong.

Yep you can also find Alice and the White Rabbit and Mary Poppins in the Toy Shop as well. Usually it is Pooh and friends though.

That is what I thought too but I hadn't put any sunscreen on my face that day, only my moisturizer that has SPF built into it and that was way back in the morning. :confused3

Ya I am always getting stuff on my clothes. In Venice I sat in bird poop in Epcot I got a chocolate chip. I'll take the chocolate chip over the bird poop any day. ;)

The same thing happened to me a few days later, the morning started out sunny, so the sunscreen went on, then the rains came, and my eyes were like buckets, the light really afffected them, so here I am in Magic Kingdom. with rain pouring down and I am wearing sunglasses. So I think it was the sunscreen as well.

Yep, it was a lot of fun getting to share some of our Disney trip with Rosie. :goodvibes

The photopass photographer, one of the Disers, podsnel, coming to the meet was staying at AKL concierge. She simply phoned up the concierge team a few weeks before the trip and told them what was going on and they arranged it all for us. Who knew right?! He also finagled us a very special surprise but that will have to wait for the update. ;)

I've finally caught up. I wasn't on as much the past few days as I was trying to get keep up with a tragic news story down here (auto accident killed 3 teens) - didn't know any of them, but very sad.

That's always terrible. :sad2:

Be glad the chocolate chip wasn't from hagendaz ice cream. I got some on a white shirt years ago and NEVER got it all out. Cute story with Belle telling you about the stain.

I would have been so mad if I hadn't been able to get it out. That is my favourite summer skirt!

I didn't know Pooh and gang were in the UK. Where is it located? I love Pooh - he is just so cute.

They are at the very back of the Toy Shop. There is a little wall that sort of hides them from view.

Can't wait to see the MMM photos. I didn't get them on my card and I haven't had a chance to call Disney to see if they can still put them there. I may have to "lift" them from others TRs ;)

Your pictures are so good. My photo pass pictures are sad :sad2:. I love the Pooh meet pictures. Don't you just wonder what the people dressed as the characters are thinking? It is hilarious about Pluto and your cleavage. Then if you look at Donald's eyes...............:lmao:. I really enjoyed meeting everyone that day. So far I haven't seen any meets for my September trip. I can't believe I forgot to give the photo pass photographer my photo pass card :sad1:.

Actually the photopass photographer messed up the photopass cards. It turns out that only the master card had all the pictures from the meet on it. Everybody else who got their cards swiped ended up with two random pictures from the very very end when everybody was getting up to leave.

What I had to do was call Photopass up directly and give them the number of the master card that podsnel provided and I was then able to get them on my cd. No worries though for those who didn't get them added to their cd as I am going to post them all and then everybody can just copy the ones they want. :thumbsup2

I have learned a hard lesson about shoes and Disney. This trip I wore my Crocs and old tennis shoes. I rubbed my feet with body glide every morning and put moleskin on pressure points and then rubbed my feet every night with aloe gel. It really worked :thumbsup2.

This was the first year I had problems with my feet, then again the 07 trip I pretty much more Crocs or comfy flip flops all the time and the same for the 08 trip. Silly me wearing the flipslops because they were pretty. :rolleyes:

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: This announcement is to warn all readers of this trip report that they should shield their eyes to protect them from the sheer amount of lime green that is about to bombard their computer screen. Never before has a Disney Park seen this much lime green all at once. It left passersby in wonder as to who these crazy people could be. If not for our polite manners we could have been mistaken for a Brazilian tour group.

There are a lot of pictures, I posted every single one so I had to divide this update into four parts. You have to read until the very end to find out who the special visitor was who graced us with their presence. Now onto the pictures!

ALL MMM DISERS feel free to copy any of these pictures, I know a lot of you didn't end up getting the photopass and so probably don't have a lot from the meet, help yourselves!

As 3pm rolled closer people slowly started to trickle in. Those of us already gathered would shout out when they spied a lime green shirt in the distance. We would then all squint our eyes and try and guess who it was approaching. They would then be greeted with hugs and exclamations when they arrived.

Our personal photopass photographer was busy snapping away, he did a great job capturing the spirit of the meet, many people were unaware that he was there snapping away so he got some great candid shots. I was also busy snapping away in between conversations. Everybody got along wonderfully, there were so many of us there that it got rather confusing actually.

I am not even going to try and remember all the screen names of the people who attended so I am just going to copy and paste the list from the first post of out meet thread.

And now the group shots! It took a little while to hustle everybody together. Some had branched off to take their kids over to see Sleeping Beauty, others were deep in conversation. Everybody was soon corralled together though.

Everybody started to move like the group was going to break up, the photographer said to hold our places he had a surprise for us! What was our surprise? He had arranged for Sleeping Beauty to come over and get in the group shot with us! So not only did we get our very own personal photopass photographer that day but we also got our very own princess!

All the people walking by were staring at us wondering who we were, some were even taking pictures of us, it was hilarious! I think having Princess Aurora join us for a picture was such a special touch.

The pictures done everybody got up and started chatting again, the photographer was still taking pictures though.

The meet was wrapping up and the photographer was all done with the pictures. He made a master card of the photos and gave it to podsnel, he then scanned the rest of our cards as well. Turns out that the photos didn't show up on our cards, only the master card had the pictures. That was easy to fix though, all we had to do was call photopass up and give them the card number and they added the pictures to our account.

Mom and I said goodbye to those remaining, we wanted to make it over to Italy to see the World Showcase Players!

Well I hope you all enjoyed the millions of pictures that were taken at the meet. I know it was picture overload but I wanted everybody to have the chance to copy the pictures if they attended the meet. If there was a picture that you liked and you want it in its high resolution send me a PM and we can arrange for me to e-mail it to you.

It was a lot of fun getting to meet so many Disers, many whom I had not even chatted with before that day. Dis meets are a lot of fun and I strongly encourage anybody to participate in one if there happens to be one planned during your vacation. You get to meet a lot of great people and have lots of fun.

Alan made the design and then posted it on one of those websites, maybe zazzle or cafepress? And then everybody who wanted one could order them. One of the items that the site had available was a thong so there were many good jokes about who was going to order the thong with the meet logo on it. :rotfl:

I just love Disney, they sure know how to treat their guests! First booking us a photopass photographer at no charge and then having Sleeping Beauty come over for our pictures, amazing! Thanks again for arranging the photographer, he got some wonderful shots. :goodvibes

Oh- and I loved catching up on the rest of your TR- really good to be able to see the Dole Whip meet! ANd I'm sorry you lost (and found) that chocolate chip....but oh, man- wasn't the No Way Jose worth it?? YUM!!!!

Great update! Loved all the pictures too. A bit sad I missed out on the Dis meet for Remy the rat at chef's de France :guilty:. Looks like lots of fun. Love Rosie's earrings and Tiara :laughing:. It is too bad that you weren't there, would have really liked to meet you!

We ended up switching our Chefs ressie from that night to later in the week as well. There were two reasons for that though, one of them being Remy. :rotfl: We wanted at least a chance of seeing him and we knew that he didn't come out on Sunday.

:laughing: Yeah, we all had to introduce ourselves to each other since many of us had never met aside from briefly on the meet thread. I wish I had taken my trip notes with me to the park that day so I could have jotted down screennames and names so I wouldn't forget, oh well.

That is SO awesome to get to meet so many "friends". Yeah, the Lime Green is a bit much, but you can't miss you guys that's for sure.

The fact that you were able to get the Photopass Guy there and then to get Princess Aurora there...again WOW!!!!!!!!

The Photopass Pics came out good.

Oh...and those drinks..........MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM:thumb sup2

The whole meet was amazing and the photographer and Aurora were such a special touch and the fact that Disney did that for us free of charge was amazing.

I found a seat at one of the outdoor tables, my feet were killing me! So since I was in so much pain I just decided to stay put and let Mom find me instead of going off to look for her.

Mom found me and we sat around and waited for The Players to come out. Once they did we got up and went over to watch. The World Showcase Players put on a performance in Italy much like the one in England except this one is dubbed Romeo and Edna. And much like the King Arthur show this one relies on audience participation. They pick two people from the audience, one to play Romeo and one to play Edna. Well who should they pick to play the prestigious role of Edna? They picked Mom of course!

I had to push her out there as she stood stone still when they chose her. Nice daughter, eh?

It was freaking hilarious! Of course I got the whole of Mom's performance on video. I only wish that I had started recording from the very beginning of the show so I could have gotten Mom's reaction on video as well. Alek and Erich thought it was highly entertaining as well when we showed it to them, too bad they weren't there to see it in person.

After the show was over Mom was awarded with a pin stating that she was now a member of the World Showcase Players! Hurray Mom!

I am so glad that it was Mom who got picked for one of these and not me, I would have been mortified! I could handle doing the France one as all I had to do was sit in a chair, one of these though, where you have to act in front of a crowd! I am incredibly shy, no way I could have pulled it off. Mom was a good sport though and she wasn't even mad at me for pushing her out there when they chose her.

Right as the show finished it started to rain so we ran for cover along with everybody else. We ran into a few MMM disers also sheltering from the rain so of course I had to tell them all about Mom's big debut.

Mom and I decided to make a run for the Friendship boat queue as we were ready to leave the park for the day. While waiting for the boat Mom had a run-in with her Romeo, it was fate!

It was only a brief sun shower and the rain was pretty much done by the time the boat arrived. We sat in the back outside so I could take some pictures.

It was Norway's Constitution Day or something like that so they had a whole bunch of extra flags flying that day.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting all those pics. I had none. And I am up to the meet on my TR. I copied many. Some not so flattering of Dh and I but oh well. I also really appreciate all ur Epcot pics. It seemed to always be raining when we were there and we missed so much. It was great to meet you and your mom!

Alan made the design and then posted it on one of those websites, maybe zazzle or cafepress? And then everybody who wanted one could order them. One of the items that the site had available was a thong so there were many good jokes about who was going to order the thong with the meet logo on it. :rotfl:

You are going to have to forgive me, I have a lot of pictures for this update so I am going to have to divide it between two posts.

When we got off the friendship boat the rain had stopped completely but there were still large puddles of water everywhere. Epcot definitely is the worst park for water drainage in my experience at least.

As we were walking the water kept sucking my flip flops off and the part between my toes was biting me in the skin as the water sucked my shoes this way and that. I got a nice bruise from that which showed up later on. !!!!!!!

Then we found a photopass photographer at the Beauty and the Beast garden. She was a very nice lady but the pictures were not that great. Our faces are all shiny and they seem overexposed. She had also taken a picture with our camera which looks much nicer but of course I couldn't add borders to that one!

At this point we decided to go into Mousegears. I had decided that I wanted to buy a pair of the Minnie Jane crocs. Unfortunately the purple ones that I liked were only made in childrens sizes so I ended up buying a pink pair instead. It is a good thing I bought them too as they definitely turned out to be the most appropriate footwear for the coming days.... I put them on right away and popped my sandals into the bag the cashier gave me. Ah! Sweet Relief! Well sort of, my feet still hurt but not as much as before.

We ran into another photopass guy so you know what we had to do...

The theme of the Flower and Garden Festival this year was Cinderellabration so of course the centerpiece display at the entrance to the park was princess themed! I loved it! So pretty!

After that we headed on out of the park and back to the hotel. I parked the car at the main building so we could head in and fill up the mug and check out the food court and see if we wanted to eat dinner there that night. After that we drove over to the room. My original plan had been to go swimming for a little while but a storm had moved into the area so those plans were out. We had gotten back to the room just in time! Instead I wrote up my trip notes for the day and massaged my poor aching feet.

We decided to head off property for dinner and we decided on the Olive Garden. We love the Olive Garden and they don't have them up here in Canada so we only get to eat at one when we are vacationing in the states.

I ordered the manicotti and it was delicious! I couldn't finish it though thanks to those free breadsticks they give you. The meal was excellent and we went on back to the hotel that night nice and full.

We had left Epcot early that day as we(I) had a date with the tv that night. It was the survivor finale and I didn't want to miss it!

As I was lying in bed watching Survivor I looked down at my arms and legs and the rash was back!!! Nooo!!!!! Those of you who read my report from last year know exactly what I am talking about.

I was pretty sure it was not the sunscreen as I had tested it out at home before the trip so it had to be something at POP I was allergic to. Why do these things always happen to me?!

Can't you upload your own trip photos and add the borders to it and add it to PP before you buy it? I'm pretty sure you can, I could be wrong tho.

I know that you can upload your own photos and use them when making a photobook through the photopass site, I don't think you can just add borders and have them on your cd though.

Lessa- This is great! You and your mom could be sisters! I love that you had a trip together, alone. What a special time for you both. Glad to see that you bought better shoes. Flip flops are not enough support for all of that walking around. I hope the rash went away.

Generally I am fine in flip flops, it was just that particular pair that did me in. I chose them because they were pretty and sparkly, there was absolutely no cushioning to them though, that is what did me in. :sad2:

You are so lucky to have been able to spend time with Rosie! I love all of the pictures you took of the meets. DO you think this was a bigger meet than Fockerfest?

I think it was probably a bit bigger than Fockerfest. Definitely a different kind of meet though. At Fockerfest everybody already "knew" each other so it was more of a friends getting together type of thing whereas this meet was more of well a meet. :rotfl: I didn't know half the people who were there until that day so it was fun getting to know some new Disers and getting to meet in person those who I had already "met" and chatted with online. :thumbsup2

I was wondering about the weather as some of your photos show some ominous clouds above. I can't believe how much trouble those flip flops caused you. I would have done exactly like you and bought something else.

I was glad I bought the Crocs, I really could have held out until we got back to the hotel where I had a proper pair of park touring flip flops and saved myself some money but as it turned out the Crocs came in very handy for the following days. Nothing better to wear in the rain than Crocs!

Let's just say that I will definitely not be getting it again on future trips, unless something new comes along that I become allergic too. :rolleyes:

Monday morning arrived sooner than I would have liked, I did not sleep very well that night, in fact I didn't sleep well the whole trip. I think I am just not comfortable sleeping outside of my own bed.

Looking out the window it looked overcast but I could see some sun so I slathered on the sunscreen and we headed on out. Mom had done her morning run to the food court to fill up the mug. She always did this while I was showering and getting ready as it always takes me so long.

On the way to the park I wasn't paying very close attention so I missed where I was supposed to turn so I had to pull a U-turn. Only added a minute onto our travel time so no biggie.

We arrived at the Magic Kingdom parking lot nice and early and got a parking spot nice and close.

Last year we had taken the monorail over to the park so we decided to try out the ferry this time.

I think I will stick with the monorail from now on, the wait for the ferry to load seemed like it took forever! Nice views as you are crossing the lagoon though.

We got to watch the opening ceremony which was fun and cheerful. "Good Morning, Good Morning!" and then on into the park. As we were heading down Main St Mom kept wanting to stop and go in the shops! Doesn't she know the number one rule of rope drop? Never stop to shop! I think she got irritated with me pushing her to keep moving. :rolleyes:

Since Space Mountain was closed for refurb we had to alter our usual routine. Instead we headed to Fantasyland. I figured we could get those rides out of the way before the lines got too long and that would leave us in a good position to make the Toontown rope drop.

Fairy Godmother was outside of the castle near the Cinderella fountain for photos. I powered on by though, I wasn't going to let a character distract from getting on the rides as quickly as possible.

First up was Peter Pan, we walked right on. Then we headed on over to Snow White, another walk-on.

Then off to Winnie the Pooh. There was maybe a 5 minute wait for this ride. Already my feet were killing me! I was wearing my Crocs so the pain was from the damage I did to my feet the day before. I'm not a wussy when it comes to standing on my feet. In fact part of my job, at least occasionally is walking around our campus for 7 hours so my feet can take it, on a normal day. Today I felt like crying from the pain.

It was right around 9:30 when we got off of Pooh so we had finished most of Fantasyland, at least the part that we would be going on, in 30 minutes. We briefly contemplated riding Dumbo since we had never been on it, the line was not long but was very slow moving so we passed and just headed over to the Toontown rope drop.

There was only one other family there when we arrived. I was surprised, I thought for sure there would be a bunch of people waiting. In fact there was hardly anybody there when the rope dropped, maybe a dozen families. I was shocked! Of course every single one of us was headed to the Fairies. We were lucky that they let us in a few minutes early as it was starting to sprinkle.

The CM's walk you to the Fairies much as they do with Soarin. I am sure if they didn't people would be running and pushing. It was a fairly small crowd but you could tell some of the people were anxious to get in there.

Mom and I were lucky and were second in line! The family in front of us had a cute little girl in a Tink costume! I wish I was a kid again so I could dress up! :laughing:

They only let 3-4 families in to be "shrunk" at a time. The fairies spend quite a bit of time with each family so it is not surprising when you here reports of the line being very slow moving.

Happy to have gotten my Tink photo we made our way into the gift shop. I glanced up to see what the wait was for Tink and it was already at an hour! This was only 15-20 minutes after rope drop! I can only imagine it getting longer throughout the day.

Morning Lessa !! I may have to sneak off to Toon Town myself if the girls don't want to join me !! I used the same strategy for MK !! I was the first in line for Snow White and a walk on forPooh on Tuesday 19th!! Of course that was the day it rained NON STOP!!Did you find a lot of people saying how short he lines were !!:worship:I felt it added to the vacation not having huge lines .. so what if I was wet!!!:lmao:

We actually didn't do a whole lot of line standing but I did notice that the parks did not seem all that crowded but I noticed that at Epcot on the day of the meet and it was nice out that day. :confused3 I think it was just the time of year.

It was raining outside now, we didn't pull on the ponchos though as we were only to be going a short way over to Mickey's house.

The line to meet Mickey was longer than I have ever seen it, probably due to the rain I imagine. As we entered the line I was given the red card that they scan to determine the wait time. I felt so special! :laughing:

Needless to say my feet were in agony standing in that line. I probably looked like I was doing a little dance as I kept lifting up one foot and then the other to relieve the pressure.

Mom suggested that we ride Goofy's Barnstormer. We had never been on it and there was not much of a line so why not right?

Almost as soon as we got on the ride, before it even pulled out it started to pour. Needless to say that we got SOAKED on that ride, wetter than we would have ever got on Splash Mountain. I could see the CM laughing at the exit when I got off and squeezed the water out of my clothes.

It was still pouring down nice and heavy, I saw that the train was loading passengers at the Toontown Station so I suggested to Mom that we make a run for it and ride it over to Frontierland.

Once on the train we strained our clothes of water again and dug the ponchos out from the bag, we could tell we were going to need them.

Well our plan to ride the train to Frontierland was foiled when they kicked us all off at Main St as they could not operate due to lightening in the area. :headache:

Mom and I trudged our way up Main St and over to Frontierland. We decided to stop for lunch, as had everybody else it seemed, Pecos Bill was packed! Mom and I scouted out a table at the very back of the restaurant. Mom went to get our food while I saved the table. I saw another group of two looking for a place to sit so I invited them to share our table and they happily accepted.

I had a plain cheeseburger for lunch, I think Mom did as well. Nothing spectacular but it hit the spot. After avoiding the rain for long enough we made our way back outside. It was barely raining now and the rides were operating again. We kept out ponchos on though, just in case. We headed over to Splash and the wait was non-existent so we joined the stand-by line. We pretty much walked non-stop up to the loading area.

This was Mom's first big adventure of the trip, she had never been on Splash before and she is usually a big ride chicken so this was a big deal.

We got seated in the last row, probably best for a newbie.

Well Mom survived the ride and actually liked it, she said the drop was not nearly as bad as she had thought.

After we got off I grabbed a set of fastpasses so we could return later and we joined the queue for Big Thunder Mountain. Unfortunately the ride broke down and we did not get to ride. The good side of that though was that they gave us all a fastpass for any ride in the MK good until the end of the week.

Well we just went straight back over to Splash Mountain and turned in our "free" fastpass and rode again. :laughing:

Once again we got seated in the back row.

After our second round on Splash Mountain we decided to go over to Fantasyland and watch Mickey's Philharmagic. We chatted with a family while waiting to get in and they thought it was a ride. :lmao:

I just love Philharmagic, probably my favourite attraction in the Magic Kingdom despite the fact that the Aladdin segment gives me vertigo.

We headed back to Splash to use our fastpasses, our third ride on Splash Mountain in under two hours! Once again we got the last row on the log. :lmao:

I was really disappointed when we got off as our ride photo didn't show up. They must have caught on to my rednecking of the photo. ;)

Good news though! Thunder Mountain was back up and operating so we were able to ride it that day after all.

I love that you offered another party of two to share your table. What a great DIS'r you are! I bet you never in a million year would have thought that you would get drenched on Barnstormer? I hope there wasn't too many little ones on the ride with you, that would scare the pants off of most little ones.

The place was packed and there were no open tables so I felt it was only right. No point hogging up a whole table to just ourselves when people needed to find a seat and we had plenty of room. Someone did this for us later in the trip so it must have been karma paying us back for the good dead. :thumbsup2

:laughing: It was kind of fun riding in the pouring rain, exhilarating. Not so fun when we got off though and had to walk around in our soaking wet clothes. On a nice sunny and hot day I don't mind getting wet on a ride like Splash but I hate getting drenched on an overcast rainy day as you just know it will take forever to dry out.

I didn't see/hear any scared kids so they handled it well it seems. :thumbsup2

Barnstormer looks like fun. I've never ridden it, but I want to! Crazy that you guys got so wet. I'll have to remember to ride it when there is no rain in the forecast!

Mom was all about being adventurous and trying out "scary" rides this trip. Well to a point... ;)

Barnstormer is one of those rides that often gets overlooked. Most adults dismiss it as the kiddie coaster so don't bother with it. If the line is not long you should try it but I would not wait for more than 10 minutes max to get on it.

Evening Lessa!! Your Mom is much braver than me !! I went on Barnstormer once with Kyle figuring it's a kid ride !! I about died !! Thank goodness Kyle was ther so I contained my terror ! Sooo I know Splash would be out for me !! Now I did go on TT again this year and Judy was very impressed!!!

After riding Splash and Thunder Mountain we just started to walk aimlessly, we weren't sure what we wanted to do so we just sort of wandered. I spied Donald posing for pictures so I had to stop. He was in his Frontierland outfit and I didn't have a picture with him dressed like that yet. ;)

Standing in front of us in line were two girls from Japan. They had the cutest clothes! One had on a Minnie Mouse type outfit, it even had a tail! The other girl had Stitch ears and a really cute Stitch purse. Tokyo Disney has the neatest stuff you never see over here. I can't wait to visit someday. I also love the funky style that the young Japanese have, it is very fun and very different from what you normally see over here. I wish I had gotten a picture of them so you could see what I am talking about.

As you can see even though I was wearing a poncho that day I still got a bit wet.

I was lucky that I got to see Donald, turned out he was going to be leaving in 5 minutes for the parade. Oh yeah, the parade! Mom and I had completely forgotten about it.

The parade stalled right as the Cinderella float was approaching. It didn't move for several minutes and it become clear that the float had broken down.

The Fairy Godmother decided she would try some of her magic to get it going again.

Both the cameras are Canon Powershots The model I was using was a SX100IS and the one Mom was using was an A95. Both basic point and shoots. I am really pleased with Canon, I always get such great shots.

Don't know if they will be up for a cruise though. Although they were very interested in the all-you-can eat, free room service aspect when we were showing them all our pictures. They said they would just spend the entire week eating and ordering room service. :rotfl2:

Hi Rosie, Just getting over my wicked wicked cold, and have not responded too much, work and preparing for my sorority chapters (Beta Sigma Phi's) Revealing day has kept me very occupied, so I have just been reading along when I have a chance. Rosie I am the BIGGEST ride chicken on this planet, my kids tease relentlessly all the time, I guess it goes back to my more youthful days when my grandfather would take me to Cedar Point. One visit my grandfather and I went on the Blue Streak, front row. well let me tell you, I was up and over the handle cars bars on the ride ( there was just a flimsy little chain that went around your waist back in the 70's), I thought I was going to die. Since then I have to check out any ride from all angles before I will go on it; I have to tell you Youtube is the best Rosie, just type in the ride, and away you will go, I found it helped ease some of my fears enough to try Splash Mountain. My family and I will be going to Cedar Point in July with my brothers family, I guess we will see if I will over come some of my fears.

Well, darn. I was hoping for a way to ride without dealing with the big drop at the end :sad2: Just too much of a freefall feeling to me. I rode one time, many years ago, but just haven't been able to make myself do it again...especially since no one else in my family will ride, and I'd have to do it alone, with no one's shoulder to cry into! I wonder what would happen if I DID jump out, right before the big drop :rolleyes:

And I too have a pair of the pink Minnie MJ's. Thanks to Faye, my feet took a beating in shoes that always work me. I was DIEING in AK one day and ended buying them out of shear desperation!

Haven't worn them since that trip, heck I'm not even sure I know where they are:confused3

But darn they were comfy and salvaged the rest of that trip.:worship:

I loved my Minnie MJ's. They were very comfy and helped my feet hurt a little less. Unfortunately for me I did so much damage to my feet that one day that it took quite a while for them to recover. Add the rain and water to the hurting and tender feet and it was not fun! I suffered through it though and had a great time!

We almost stopped to see Storytime with Belle but all the benches were sopping wet so we just decided to move on.

Once again I beat Mom! :laughing:

We got in line to ride again and saw Stitch walking away. He struck a pose for me when he saw me looking over at him.

The line was long and not really moving so we decided to skip the second ride. Instead we decided to go for a monorail tour and visit some resorts.

Dream Along With Mickey was supposed to be going on but I guess it was canceled due to technical issues so they had all the characters out mingling with the crowd. I wish we had been there earlier as we could have gotten some unique character shots. As it was the lines were long and the CM's were announcing they would be heading inside in five minutes. Instead we stopped at a bunch of photopass photographers. I look wet and washed out and horrible in all of them but Mom looks okay.

Having hit up pretty much every photopass photographer in the hub and Main St we exited the park and hopped on the monorail. First stop, the Contemporary!

Let me tell you and I don't intend to offend Contemporary lovers but this hotel was just blah, boring, mundane. We were not thrilled by it at all.

We wandered into the shops and bought a few presents for Alek and Erich.

Now I have seen pictures of the room decor here and while there is nothing exciting about the rooms they are okay. I guess the reason you would stay here is for the Magic Kingdom views.

I am a deluxe snob but I think that even though this hotel is a deluxe it is at the bottom of my list of resorts to stay at.

Walking around this place was killing my feet, I just wanted to get out of there and over to the Poly and have a sit down in the lounge.

When we got up to the monorail station it looked as though they were almost ready to leave. I was all prepared to get on when a CM waved us down to the front. We got to sit in the front of the monorail! What a treat and we didn't even have to ask.

There was a father and daughter also sitting up front with us and our driver was VERY chatty. He was a nice friendly guy and let me take his picture.

It was too bad that we were getting off at the Poly as we were only up there for a short time. As we got off he handed us a card saying we were now licensed monorail drivers. :rotfl:

First thing I did when we got inside was head straight to the bar to sit down. Sweet relief!

We of course ordered up some drinks. Mom and I both got a Pina CoLava, so good!
