The Hot, Sweaty Asian is back.

Who is the Hot, Sweaty Asian you may ask?

Here I am:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/wdwfeb2008493.jpg

My name is Jordan. I am a SINGLE 47 year old (do you hear that Single Ladies....cue Beyonce's Single Ladies video now). I reside in sunny Southern California about 10 minutes from Disneyland. Yet, I find myself inexplicably drawn to WDW. I've gone 14 times since my first trip back in 1991. I work at a church in Anaheim and find it funny that the continually employ me when I show up on websites doing things like this:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/wdwfeb2008326.jpg

I've written a PTR and a 3 part monster TR from my trip back in Feb 08. You can check out the links in my siggie if you want to entertain yourself for a day or two. For the trip this coming Feb, I will be traveling again with my DC, Wendy and her family and possibly others..........

What can you expect from a PTR/TR written by me?

You can expect some Target trial size aisle obsession:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/evenmoreshopping001.jpg

Some dancing for doc arrival:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/docdance001.jpg

Some binder loving:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/Bindergoestobeach008.jpg

Once the TR starts....I have this thing for pictures of:

Me with my tongue out:

Pictures with my Peeps with the power fist:

Catching people asleep pix:

Restroom rating pics:

I have so much more to share....get ready for the wildest ride in the wilderness......

Are you ready to hop aboard? :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:banana::banana:

I bow down to your greatness!!:worship::worship::worship:

Those pictures just had me laughing so loud I woke up one of the kids:rotfl2:

Knowing that you're doing another report is like finding the prize in the cereal box.......I guess they don't even have those anymore....so, it's like.....ok, honestly I just had a brain fart and have no idea where I was going with that.

Anywhoo....I'm so glad you're doing one.:banana::banana::banana:

I also have an affinity for the Target aisle treasure of travel sized goodness. My only problem is I don't have one here, so when I'm visiting my family I stock up.....they just look at me and shake their heads. I swear I'm one visit away from and intervention.

5/31-Chapter 1 Cast of Characters.

I have traveled to WDW with a variety of different groups, but mostly I've traveled with my cousin, Wendy. She also happens to be one of my closest friends. We're more like brother and sister than cousins. In 1991, she was heading to WDW for her college graduation. However, her roommate had to cancel and Wendy was going to cancel as well. I said out of the blue at a family event, "I'll go." The rest is history.

We've gone to WDW together several times and I'll list them here below by some sort of title...(let's see if they match the titles I gave them in my last PTR)

1991-Offsite @ Summerfield Suites. "The First Time."
1992-Offsite @ Summerfield Suites with Wendy and her then BF, Bret. I call this year, "The Wendy, please dump your boyfriend year."
1994-CBR with Wendy and her new BF, Derek (her now DH). I call this year, "The Inappropriate PDA Year."
1996-CBR with Wendy, Derek and my friend Polly. I call this the "I'll never travel with her again year."
1997-BWV with Wendy and Derek. I call this "The food year." I gained over 10lbs in a week. I ate waaay too much...
1999-BWV with Wendy, Derek, Derek's Aunt and Uncle, Wendy's friend, Kim, and family friends of Wendy and Derek. I call this "The I'll never spend an hour and a half looking for a stupid pretzel again year."
2000-CBR-no wendy, with a co-worker and my parents. I call this "The I froze my behind off in Florida....seriously year"
2001-YC-Wendy and Derek. I call this "The year Wendy gave me the silent treatment year"
2002-VWL with Wendy and Derek. I call this "The Last Year without kids year"
2003-BWV-Wendy, Derek, Erin, Wendy's parents, Derek's parents, Derek's aunt and uncle, Derek's friends-Josh and JoJo. I call this year "The Derek reads me the riot act year"
2005/Feb-BCV with my friends Jean, Leo and Donna. I call this "The battle of traveling styles year."
2005/Dec-BCV with Wendy, Derek, Erin, Dylan, Wendy's parents, Derek's parents. I call this "The I'm a bad babysitter year"
2007-Pop with my friends, Jeff, June and Marian and 2 other families. I call this the "The let's forget that my SIL just passed away year."
2008-Pop/BCV-Wendy and her family and Kim. I call this the "Peeps, Restrooms and Drunks year"

Our next trip is Feb 7-14th. My cousins will probably stay in a DVC resort as they own. I will stay on my own.....haven't decided on a resort yet.

Here's the current list of people going:

Me, again, 47, single, hockey fan, WDW lover and crazy:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/wdwfeb2008588.jpg

Wendy, my cousin and her DH, Derek:

Erin, their oldest, 7 in August:

Dylan, the middle child, 4 in July:

Ashlyn, the youngest, 1 in August:
http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj246/WendyOkada/DSC_0118.jpg

Okay now here's where it gets tricky...Wendy and Derek's friends MIGHT come. They have 4, yes 4 kids--all under the age of 7!!!!

It will be interesting to travel around with 7 kids all under 7......

I might be spending ALOT of time by myself...I'm just saying there's a reason I'm single....I LOVE kids..but..........

Anywhoo....I'm so glad you're doing one.:banana::banana::banana:

I also have an affinity for the Target aisle treasure of travel sized goodness. My only problem is I don't have one here, so when I'm visiting my family I stock up.....they just look at me and shake their heads. I swear I'm one visit away from and intervention.

I'm glad I could brighten your day.

I'll be interested to see how long you can keep from being carted off. I mean you had your family do a tongue pic...:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Cherie did you see Oregondaddy? Another Westcoaster!!!!!

As for traveling with 7 kids all under 7? You might be spending more time at the bar than usual. Maybe you'll be "the drunk" guy!

we're hoping for early feb too!! Just gotta wait for 2010 rates to come out to see where the value season ends (gotta get in before then) and then to determine everyone's schedules...DH and I and Caleb (will be 16 mos) are going with my parents and my brother, SIL and newphew who will be 3.5 yrs. Should be interesting. We are hoping for the beach club....gotta hit the world showcase at night!

Let me predict that value season will end sometime the week before President's Weekend. I think the last few times we've gone in February that's been the norm. So I would expect that value season would end around February 9-10th.....

Beach Club with an infant is perfect. So easy to get back and forth to both Epcot and DHS.

Looking forward to planning our trips together.:thumbsup2

It was great! The rain was there, everyday, but it happened at the same time, every day, so you knew when to expect it. It did not stop me, that is what pancho's are for :)

Highlights...everything!!! Seriously, everything. Being off work for 10 days, just being at WDW, I'm so relaxed there, and this trip was the family trip. Like you, I'm single, so spending time with my family was nice. My other trips throughout the year are with my singles friends, and I LOVE them, but it's nice to spend time with my family. I love those WDW trips as well. There were 9 of us on this trip, so it was a lot of fun.

Lowlights...Space Mountain being down.

We are SUPER EXCITED about our upcoming cruise!! The cruise itself is on the 28th of this month. We will probably leave the 26th since we are driving. The night before the cruise we will be staying in Cocoa Beach so I can dip my toes in the ocean for the VERY FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE!! :woohoo: I am going to be a crazy mad-woman running for the water when I see it. :rotfl2:

We can't wait to get on the ship and are very excited about seeing Castaway Cay. I will have MANY pictures. I don't have a PTR for the cruise since I haven't finished my TR from our Feb 2009 trip yet. :rolleyes1 I will have the TR at Enchanted after the cruise.

It's a 4 night cruise. I had originally booked it as a land/sea vacation but we decided we wanted one more WDW trip in February before DS starts Kindergarten. So, I chopped the land portion off of the cruise and created a WDW trip this past February...plus a few days. :thumbsup2 The only downside is now not being able to hit WDW again before the cruise. But, we will get over it. We have some friends who are interested in booking a trip to WDW with us for 2010 but not until summer. I'm not sure what will happen with that yet. I'm still contemplating the whole thing.

So, we booked the Aquaventure waterpark/beach excursion in Nassau. We were going to do the dolphins but weren't sure if DS would be scared. We decided to save that for a future trip. At castaway cay we are booked for feeding stingrays (we will see how that goes with DS), and we plan on renting a paddle boat at some point. The main goal is sun & family fun and fruity drinks for mom and dad. :thumbsup2

Ok, so the funny thing is that the "roommate" in question here who originally bailed on me (and whom I should thank since that's what started Jordan's and my lifelong friendship) is none other than GirlNextDoor - Kim - who finally (after 17 years...) joined me on a WDW trip. Crazy, huh?

These are SOOO funny. And mostly because they're so true. And I remember each and every one as if it was yesterday.

Our next trip is Feb 7-14th. My cousins will probably stay in a DVC resort as they own. I will stay on my own.....haven't decided on a resort yet.

All I can say is 248 more days to go. I count down every day. Oh, and I think we're going to try to start the trip on Feb. 5, going through the 14th-ish.

Okay now here's where it gets tricky...Wendy and Derek's friends MIGHT come. They have 4, yes 4 kids--all under the age of 7!!!!

Here's the "in my defense" part... our friends' parents/inlaws may come as well (so some built in babysitters....) and the older two (Matthew and Megan) are the same ages as Erin/Dylan and then Ashlyn is in between the two younger (18 months, 9 months, 1 month)... so at least the older four can kind of entertain each other... (and I'm sure they'll have a BALL with any flat people who may pop up on our trip...). So I'm thinking it won't be as bad as Jordan thinks. Hee hee hee.

And also, they might do the land/sea package so we're only overrun with children for half the trip. We travelled with them to Maui last year and the kids seemed to enjoy themselves :thumbsup2

Traveling with family is fun....That's why Wendy and I have gone so many times together.

Traveling with friends sometimes can get tricky. Family will always be family...you can argue and then everything's okay....

Yes, and the key is getting to know your travelling companions. Derek, Jordan and I have travelled together so much (not only to WDW) that over the years we have learned each other's idiosyncrases so we can learn how to handle each other and still get along at the end of the day. Introducing new peeps into the mix isn't impossible but just takes some planning and prepping ahead of time so that you can aim for the best possible trip for all involved.

Eee! A new PTR! Greaaaat. Like I need something else to suck up my life for the next 240+ days. Ha ha ha. :headache:

Okay, I've lurked my way through enjoying your TRs but the list of past trips and what their titles would have been was enough to pull me out of lurkdom. Some of those trips would probably have made some good TRs (except you might want to forget them, like "Wendy gave me the silent treatment"). Truth be told some of those sound like our past trips, especially since we always go with my parents---and we drive the whole way down, all 7 of us, in the same vehicle:eek:

any time....that's what I'm here for.

You are Abbott to my Costello.

You are right about family.

I will say, I have two awesome friends that I go with. They love Disney, just as much as me, we travel great together, thankfully. I do know what you mean about traveling with friends, being tricky, been there, done that. I had one horrible experience.

I haven't had so much luck traveling with friends to WDW. :confused3

When we travel with family and friends combined, we seem to have better luck and this last trip in 2008 was relatively drama free.....:thumbsup2

Chapter 2. Vague Trip Details

Can the words vague and details be in the same sentence?

http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/jordanhospital-1.jpg

Seriously, this is a picture 2 days after I had an emergency appendectomy. It was gangrene.....:scared1: I was in the hospital for 5 days and home for 2 weeks after that. I'm still recovering....Anyway..on with the show.

Accommodations
So my cousin (WendyO on the DIS) and I had our first real conversation trying to figure out dates and such. She currently has a 2 bedroom villa at VWL booked which is their DVC home resort. She and Derek would really like to stay at BLT, but know that it may be near impossible to get. They would be happy with BCV or BWV, but can't move resorts until July 13--the 7 month window. It's a DVC rule...I kinda get it, but not really....

I may stay with them, but it's dependent on who else ends up coming. So as a back up, I am planning to reserve a room somewhere else on property probably a value and probably Pop. I might move up to a moderate if....

Traveling companions

I'd move to a moderate if I had someone to split the cost with. I've stayed at CBR and have been wanting to stay at POR. Here are a few people who I have in mind:

My roommates who I already asked once:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/wdw%202005/021_21_0001-1-1.jpg

My friend Donna:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/wdw%202005/015_15.jpg

or perhaps Kim who went with us last year. Although she has a boyfriend now:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/wdwfeb2008523.jpg

or maybe Wendy's other friend Kim who traveled with us in 1999:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/randompics017.jpg

or maybe one or more of the guys in my small group at church:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/random%202009/birthday2009010.jpg

Dates of travel
Again, I am not exactly sure when I'll be going. Wendy knows at least for them it'll be somewhere starting the 5th, 6th or 7th of February. They will for sure (?) head home on Sunday, February 14th so that they have one day, President's Day, for the kids to rest before going back to school.

I will stay 3-4 full days after they leave. I like being solo at WDW for part of the trip mostly because I can sleep in and have no where that I have to be. So I will leave WDW probably on Thursday, Feb 18th. Don't know when I'll fly out to Orlando.

Bottom line

I don't know where I'm staying so I can't book yet.
I don't know who's going other than my cousin's family
I don't know when I'm going.

Can you think of anything more frustrating for an OTP (obsessive trip planner) than uncertainty, especially when you're ONLY 8 months out from your trip!:scared1:

Don't all WDW trips start out a little fuzzy around the edges? Things will become clearer as time goes on!

Glad you are continuing to recover from your ordeal. (Who gave you the "It's a Boy!" hospital balloon as a joke?) That must've made you laugh!

Back in 2006 I was in and out of the hospital for a total of 21 days with complications following a surgery. I received flowers. I received balloons. But, the best gift was a WDW planning book one of my sisters brought me. (Open Mouse: PassPorter's Guide to WDW for Special Needs.)

In all the fuss, I had almost forgotten that we had a Disney trip scheduled four months later! It really helped pass the time... it really drags in the hospital... and gave me something to look forward to!

Just knowing you have a Disney trip on the horizon is the very best medicine! http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg149/autumn59/nurse.gif

This is us too...we want to go early Feb...waiting for the new 2010 rates to come out bc we want to make value season...then we have to see when we can take off work...and then hopefully wait for some good deals to come out (I'm hoping for the 4/3 deal again) cause I really want to stay at the BC or if not WL...i don;t really want a value or mod because of possible having 2 strollers so I want to avoid a lot of buses if i can.

So we know we want to go...just don;t have anything booked or know when we can go or stay...totally frustrating...and I want to pick out my places to eat and you can;t book those until 3 mos before...so i am just sitting here twiddling my thumbs!

Oh my! I'm glad the gangrene stopped at your appendix and that you are feeling better. I hope the baby is doing well! :rotfl:

Uncertainty while planning a trip kills me! :scared1: I hope that one or more of those friends of yours commit soon!

I'm glad too. The DR said another 12 hours and maybe I would not be here now.

I am hoping for someone to hop on board soon. We'll see. Unlike the crazies here on the DIS, the regular folks out there sometimes don't make plans that far in advance.

Kathy

Starting to plan this trip is helping me get through this lack of energy that I have. It's hard to explain, but my mind is ready to be 100%, but my body is just not cooperating.

Hopefully you can convince some of your buddies to go with you so you can stay at a moderate! I have never been solo but I may do that when my kids graduate. My hubby doesn't enjoy going  so as I get older I may start taking some solo trips!
Glad everything went well with your appendix situation!

I am social by nature if you couldn't already tell. However, I do love my time alone. It's been 9 years since I stayed at a moderate. It's been either a DVC resort, a deluxe or Pop. So, I'm hoping to stay at either POR or CBR, my first choice being POR.

In all seriousness I am glad that you are okay and recovering.

If you knew the family that brought that balloon, you would've laughed even harder. The husband of that family and I have know each other since 4th grade--so 38 years.

:thumbsup2Glad you are doing better.

My PTR will be exactly the opposite issues:

1. I have a room booked:thumbsup2(ASSports, kids request for the "next Disney trip")
2. it is in 3 months:eek:
3. I have free dining:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 (otherwise I'd be going in Feb with all my LSU/Mardi gras peeps)
4. I know(kinda) where I wanna eat-and this part is cool, b/c DH doesn't care where we eat and my kids have no idea we MIGHT be going, so I get to pick them all out on my own:cloud9:. I hafta book June 13th.
5. I know who will be going with me

Issue-we are moving to Hoouston by end of year.

Jordan-feel better!!!

Lori

Thanks for rubbing it in...;)

I'm very happy for you and the fact that you can pretty much choose where you want to eat is even better.:thumbsup2

For sure, let me know what you think of ASSports....My goal is to try every resort on property and I've only gotten to 7 so far.

Awesome more sweaty asian guy!!!

Glad your back hope you recovery is going good. We were at POP this past Jan thought about your trippie several times while we were there. Particularly when we got a few "peeps" pics. Will try to post them for you later. Oh & when DS7 kept "hitting" on our waitress at Teppan Edo. Um she made the mistake of talking Godzilla with him. He fell "in love" & invited himself to come visit her in Japan.:lovestruc

Have you stayed at BC before? It's one of my favorite resorts. It may not have the most awesome lobby like WL or AKL, but it has a personality all it's own. It's homey and laid back and really, you can't beat the proximity to Epcot. I love the WL too.

Twiddling my thumbs is not my forte.

no...haven;t stayed at either one...but i stayed at the BW last trip! Well, we have been before, and speaking from a deep south family of 4-me and DH, 39, and DD's 9 and 11-this is our second favorite value resort. We love Asmovies best and if you recall, were not big fans of POP in 2/08.

I have stayed at POR and liked Asmovies and sports better. It's just us. How i would love to do a pirate room at CBR.... but I just can't move out of values yet!!!;) Trying to keep a budget and stay home with these kids we have....

Jordan, surely one of those people will want to go to WDW with you! Have they just not been introduced to the mouse?? (except Kim, we know she has).

So, I have a Disneyland question for you...can you recommend what nearby hotel offsite for one night? Our one day in DL is turning into two, but we need cheap lodging to swing that two day park-hopper. Our first day will be shorter in order to visit a cousin in Costa Mesa that I haven't seen in 30 years, so we decided to just spend the night and have another whole day. Do any of the offsite hotels enable you to have an early entry morning?

A familiar face to many of you--that's right Kim (girlnextdoor on the DIS) is back on board for another round of craziness!!!!!
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/wdwfeb2008054.jpg

She moved from sunny Southern Cal last year to be closer to her BF, Allan. She now lives in NJ. I think the thought of being somewhere "warm" during the dead of winter appeals to her. In addition, Allan hasn't been to WDW in a long time so there's extra incentive.

Here are a few Kim highlights from our trip in Feb 08

Kim using her body to spell out the first letter of the emotion she feels as she enters a WDW park for the first time:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/wdwfeb2008065.jpg

Dole Whip anyone?
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/wdwfeb2008072.jpg

I LOVE Kali River Rapids
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/wdwfeb2008319.jpg

We both loved SAB at the Beach Club:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/wdwfeb2008405.jpg

Having some fun with Flat Winkers:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/IMG_0469.jpg

Kim at her 2 drink maximum limit:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/wdwfeb2008426.jpg

Having Allan and her come along solidifies a few things:
--if Wendy's parents don't come (I think I forgot to mention that), then Kim and Allan would stay with Wendy in the 2-bedroom villa. I would stay at Pop or another value.
--If Kim and Allan stay in another resort (she wants to stay at POR really bad), I MAY room with them, but probably not. I would probably stay at Pop or some other value.
--If the other family comes, Wendy and Derek can go out and I would have help babysitting the 7 kids.
--If the other family comes, I don't feel bad for leaving Wendy and Derek. I can go off with Kim and Allan and have adults only time.
--If the other family doesn't come, I can babysit Erin, Dylan and Ashlyn no problem and allow Wendy, Derek, Kim and Allen to go out a few nights for nice dinners.

Ah the fog has lifted...a little......

Wow, Jordo - you're such a nice cousin! So willing to take care of the kiddies so Mom & Dad can out and play.

You wanna come with us, too? We don't dare leave the kids with Waldo - he might lose them!

Great catch on the laptop. That corner of the couch is where i do most of my DISing from...

If I could come when you guys were out there, I would most definitely offer up my babysitting services. It's funny. As long as I can make it to either ESPN Club or Atlantic Dance for a few drinks, I'll babysit as long as you want. I like my late nights to enjoy whichever resort I'm at...it's sooo peaceful and honestly, magical....

Chapter 4. Some February 2009 Trip Highlights

I went to China in February of this year. I went to visit some friends who are working over there as teachers. One works in Guiyang in Southern China and the other one works in Beijing. It was great to finally go overseas. I had only been to Baja California and to the Caribbean on a DCL. So this was a real adventure.

Here are some highlights:

This was my room in Guiyang. It's part of an International House for foreign students. It's more like a dorm room. Hey, it was 15 bucks a night....
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/china%202009/China2009079.jpg

Not so nice bathroom. Notice no shower door or separate shower. The shower head is on the wall. You close the door and have at it.
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/china%202009/China2009080.jpg

We either ate at people's house or ate out at nicer restaurants. It's cheap to eat in China. I paid for 2 meals for 6 people. It was 18 dollars for each meal. Oh and there's no tipping in China. Here's some of the meals we had and some of the things having to do with how food gets to your table......

Chicken Porridge with what I think was Chicken. I mean there was a chicken claw in it:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/china%202009/China2009176.jpg

We had homemade Mexican Food one night. I brought over some tortillas from the States. It even had cheese on it. Cheese is almost non existent in Guiyang.
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/china%202009/China2009147.jpg

Here was one of the more expensive meals--Pizza Hut. They look more like Cheesecake Factories don't they?
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/china%202009/China2009125.jpg

We ordered Fries and Onion Rings. This is how much we got:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/china%202009/China2009123.jpg

Here's our Pizza. The Grand total for Dinner: 177 RMB or about 20 dollars.
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/china%202009/China2009124.jpg

Here's our hotpot meal. They bring you meats and veggies and you cook it in either chicken broth or the VERY, VERY, VERY spicy beef broth:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/china%202009/China2009102.jpg

It's customary in China for meals--You should have one dish for every person attending your dinner and then add one more dish for good measure. A Chinese national made us lunch. There were 7 of us, so we had 8 dishes.
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/china%202009/China2009003.jpg

Here are some rules about eating in Guiyang. No raw vegetables. Cook the crap out of your meat. Don't eat anything dropped on a tabletop. Drink only bottled water. Don't buy food from street vendors.

They have a TON of street vendors for food or just little tents with a wok and raw meat and they cook and you eat....
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/china%202009/China2009030.jpg

http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/china%202009/China2009010.jpg

Here's chicken at the WalMart (yes, Walmart).
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/china%202009/China2009015.jpg

Here's chicken being sold on the street:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/china%202009/China2009116.jpg

Here's where you buy your meat. It looks so sanitary doesn't it:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/china%202009/China2009113.jpg

This is where they slaughter your chicken:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/china%202009/China2009115.jpg

You can also buy your produce right next to the butcher:

Chapter 5. More of China.

Some things unique to Chinese culture, especially in outlying cities like Guiyang:

People spit---alot and just about anywhere.

You always wear shoes. Toddlers have slits in the back of their pants and can and will pee or poop just about anywhere.

You wanna know why Asian drivers are the worst? Go to China. Although there are traffic signals and people do follow those, everything else is a free for all. It's CRAZY...and then try crossing a street as a pedestrian...it's like being FROGGER....

Ask 3 people for directions. Asians are all about saving face. If you ask them for directions and they don't know, they'll just make something up to save face. Ask 3 people or you often end up lost.

Always carry toilet paper with you. Many public restrooms even in restaurants don't have toilet paper. Oh and squattie toilets (basically a hole in the ground) are everywhere, but Western toilets are more and more common. I only had to use a squattie twice my whole stay.

People actually walk. Walking is free. So most people walk.

Look...it's WDW.......This was at a huge park in Guiyang...
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/china%202009/China2009032.jpg

They call it the monkey park since there are is a large population of monkeys living there in the wild pretty much.

I think the reason "Donald" and "Mickey" look weird is because they are not actually Donald and Mickey. There is an amusement park in China that pretty much is a ripoff of Disney and Universal. Let me see if I can find the article for you.

I know I've seen the China pictures before, but I love seeing them! Other cultures and countries have always fascinated me :goodvibes

The vast majority of the pictures are fabulous, but a few of them are skeery! :scared1: I just got over the nightmares caused by the skeevy Donald and Mickey LMAO

[B][U][COLOR="DarkRed"]If you can read this and understand what it means let me know. It was a sign at the park.Sorry my friend, can't help you out on that one! I think it may be an advertisement for a English Interpreter.

They say after they burn out they just fall like rocks to the ground. Note to self, do not stand underneath any airborne glowing objects when touring China.

Loved the photos. Based on the first set of photos you sent, I was not expecting downtown to look quite so sleeek. Just goes to show you that one should never jump to conclusions. Of course given that the local rugrats have poo-slits in their britches, it's probably better not to jump at all....at least untill you've surveyed your landing zone.

Looking forward to more! Have a great weekend.

Hey Jordan! When are you going to come over to the "other place" and check it out? We have alot of fun over there! Buzz comes up with some interesting puzzles to figure out and we play other Disney related games!
(Hope I don't get in trouble for mentioning Buzzs name on here!) :rotfl2:
I have a link in my siggie!

Oh NO! We'll never see him again - like the time he went to Facebookland

I can just see you in a game of frogger!

:jumping2:

what the heck?:confused3
are all asians men?:rolleyes1

Now that's funny right there - I don't care who you are!:lmao:

I'm saying a little prayer of thanks for my western toilet.........does that mean it wears a big hat and rides a horse?
so, if there isn't toilet paper, what do they use? Now I can see why my dad insited on us using all the toilet paper after we'd been tp'd. "there are asians without toilet paper, you're so lucky to have it hanging from the trees"

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

The night pictures are gorgeous!!

So if the lanterns burn out and fall like rocks......does it feel like a rock when you get hit by one?

You are so funny!

Hey Jordo,

I seem to recall that you have a rolling technique when you pack. Do you seem to come out more wrinkle free by rolling or folding? I'm thinking of trying the rolling thing for the cruise so I can get more into one suitcase at a time.

I'm not Jordan...obviously....but I roll most of my clothes when I pack and it does help with wrinkles. I usually just do my shirts.
