It's been quite a journey.....many of the folks here and I have been following each others' PTR/TRs for over 2 years. So we know each other pretty well....well...... as well as you can know someone you've never met.

Hee hee, I remember this!! Every now and then I just say it at random. You gets some "looks" when you do that. :lmao:
Edited to add that I can't ever just read that WITHOUT saying it out loud. So, DH was walking through the living room and guess what he heard. He just shook his head and kept walking.
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: I just did the same thing...no one around...laughing out loud by myself....such a geek I am.
Hi Jordan - I have some catching up to do over here... there's just so much activity here it's have to keep up! Your itinerary looks great!! :thumbsup2 I'm really impressed with your time estimates. :goodvibes
After 14 trips, you learn your own tendencies. I almost always overestimate the time.
Itinerary schiminerary- show me a countdown! :rotfl:
13 days until ADR ressies
114 days til WDW!
979 days til Peep Fest 2012

I've never been to the Food and Wine Festival.

That was a perfect way to get my day started off with a, "OMG! That is the funniest thing I've seen since the Hoop de Doo"! I doubt you'd ever see it, Cnythia, but this was a very close second best!
Seriously, the HDDR is well worth the 2 credits. We howled! The kids thought it was funny, and the adults thought it was funnier after a pitcher of sangria!

A fellow closet DISser here! My DH is over the top grouchy about DIS too, so sneak it in whenever possible. Keeps me sane, keeps me laughing.

you have never ridden Journey? Ever? Wow!
Flights of wonder, I understand......
I've never been to Cinderellas Royal Table or Akerhaus for a Princess Breakfast.
nope, never. you have to remember that i was tainted from epcot after the first trip. our day there the first time was horrid and i didn't return for awhile. now i love it. and so does ray after he realized all the beverage opportunities there.
i've never eaten at CRT or akershus either!

1. I've never been kicked out of ....anywhere I think.
2. I've never ridden Expedition Everest, Dinosaur, or Kali.
3. I've never ridden Tower of Terror!
4. I've never been to Disney World with my mother-in-law.
5. I've never had an alcoholic beverage at Disney World.
Since #4 will be happening in December, I expect #5 to follow. :rolleyes1
RE. #4---- Neither have I! THANK GOD!
Since you must endure such a travesty, might I suggest practicing the art of banging your head on a wall now? Did you know, not only does it actually relieve stress, you can burn up to 150 Calories an hour doing it? If that does not help, you could add a list of "places to conveniently ditch MIL while making it look like an accident; it could slip nicely into a binder right beside, say, the ADR page? :confused3

good to know. i've seen pics of chef mickey's and it just didn't appeal to me. i'd rather go to tusker house for a character meal and it's easier to get! and of course if i have no reason to go to CRT, i'm not going to break my neck doing it! we are actually thinking about doing it next trip if we do the deluxe DDP just for the experience.

She's not so bad. Sometimes she's incredibly awesome. I truly enjoy her most of the time
I'm mildly irritated with her right now (though she doesn't know it) but nothing I can't easily get over or is really unexpected if I take a step back and think about it. And really, isn't my problem anyway.

And now I've got all of you doing it too. Admit it!
That's funny! My family did the "pork chops with appleshash" thing for years, too! (My boys didn't get it) and I have a sister named Marsha! We've said the "Marsha, Marsha, Marsha" a time or two. Of course she loved it.

I was quite possibly at WDW with my OWN mother! I am not certain, but perhaps that could have been a quite larger brain fart moment when I decided to include them. As far as I"m concerned, mixing it up with parents of any kind should be forbidden. I hereby invite all of us who've been so dumb to give intervention when needed to whomever embraces this risky inclusionary thinking.

Chapter 36. Adventures in dogsitting
So for the last week, we've had the "privilege" of dogsitting for a friend of Leo's. Now don't get me wrong I love dogs, but Chihuahua's....do they really qualify as a dog? It's more like a large rodent. I didn't hate having the dog around and honestly Buddy loved having someone closer to his age. They really had a lot of fun together and the dog was VERY affectionate.

Here are Wendy/Dereks' tentative ADRs:
Sunday, 2/7-6pm The Wave (never been)
Mon, 2/8-7:15pm Coral Reef (last visit for them: 1996)
Tues, 2/9-None
Wed, 2/10-Noon Prime Time Cafe (tradition), 7:00pm Ohana (never been)
Thur, 2/11-6:00pm Chef Mickey's (never been)
Fri, 2/12-6:00pm California Grill (been 3-4 times)
Sat, 2/13-7:00pm Teppan Edo (tradition)
I think it's a good mix of new restaurants and ones they know they'll like.
Kim and Allan's ADRs
Sun, 2/7-the Wave
mon, 2/8-Coral Reef
Tues, 2/9-None
Wed, 2/10-Noon Prime Time, 7pm Ohana (maybe switch out)
Thurs, 2/11-Date night Jiko?Chefs? Kouzzina?
Fri, 2/12-6pm Ca Grill
Sat, 2/13-7pm Teppan Edo
Almost all TS meals will be with Wendy and family.Kim and Allan will probably switch out Chef Mickey's and have a Valentine's Dinner somewhere nice. I've also volunteered to 2 extra CS meals I have so they could add 1 more TS if they wanted or make another one a 2 TS meal....
Jordan's ADRs
2/10-Prime Time
2/13-Teppan Edo
I will only have 2 TS meals with the rest of the folks. These 2 will be OOP as I will be on the QSDP not the DDP at this point. For the 4 night solo portion here are my tentative ADRs right now on the DDP:
2/15-Jiko
2/16-Kouzzina
2/17-Lunch-Sanaa
2/17-Dinner-I am toying with one more TS and paying OOP for this as Jiko is 2TS.........It's a free night for me so I could really eat anywhere......
Here's my short list:
Boma (completing the AKL/V Trifecta)
Rose and Crown
Le Cellier
Chefs de France
Flying Fish
Raglan Road
Kona Cafe
Not sure if this is a done deal. I have a week to think about it....
I'll post my revised itinerary shortly.
edit to add:
I only changed the last 2 full days of my itinerary. Something wasn't quite right and I couldn't figure it out. Then switched some parks around and I left the last night open so I could have the option of going to the park I felt most drawn to. That might be decided for me IF I decide to book and TS ADR for that night, but I can always cancel and just do CS as well...Here's the original version of the last 2 days:

Hmmm, we are playing the I Never Game!
Let's see, I have never:
had a Grey Goose Slushie
been on Mission:Space
eaten at Le Cellier
eaten at the castle
There are tons more they are just not coming to me at the moment! :cutie:
1) soooo good on a hot day. be sure you try it on your next visit!:thumbsup2
2) I can understand why people don't go on this if they are motion sensitive.
3) Sacrilege--although I haven't eaten there since 2001 or 2002 myself.
4) It was better when there was an option to eat at CRT w/o characters....

Chihuahuas are ummmm... interesting, but will forever be assos. with Taco Bell for me. Forever! That was a high school/ college days sort of thing.

It's the obvious choice for me because it's right there at AKL/V...we'll see.
I could see in a smaller apartment with no yard how a smaller dog would be better.....I wouldn't get one, but I am more understanding of it now...

I think any of those options for your ADR to be decided sound really yummy. It would be neat to complete the AKL Trifecta since you are staying there.

:confused3
Hmmm If I start banging now...maybe I can lose the 10 pounds I wanted to before going in Dec. Got any ideas on good places to ditch MIL??? The wheels start turning...:lmao:
Oh and next trip your goal should definitely be meeting the mouse :lovestruc

Hmmm.. places to ditch MIL. Let's see.....
1) Anywhere along the parade route say around 3:00. I lost my patience and my mind there. :lmao:
2) You could tell you that your were "recruited" at Haunted Mansion.
3) Get her on M:S Orange side; you'll not see her the rest of the trip.

It's not too bad between Kim/Allan and Wendy's itineraries because they are basically the same. However, between theirs and mine, it's a bit more complicated as I am not on the DDP, but the QSDP. So dinners are separate and are our evenings, many nights, are separate. So I have to cross reference stuff alot of times.
I think the revised itinerary looks really good. Are you happier with it?
I think any of those options for your ADR to be decided sound really yummy. It would be neat to complete the AKL Trifecta since you are staying there.
:rotfl2:. You should know the answer to that question..;) I am happy with it, but I spent 2-3 hours yesterday trying to see if other combinations of things would work. I'm happy with the first portion of the trip, but the solo part still kinda isn't quite right....:confused3

Cynthia, I'm praying for you!!
I knew I was single for a reason.
I'll have you all know that I have done Disney, both in CA and FL twice as an adult with MY own mother (and father and my bazillion siblings/nephews etc) and it has been fabulous!
It is entirely possible....dare I say probable?
that both MY mother and my MIL will be present on this trip....
My dad is ready to go again. HP is putting him over the edge, my mom too.
I just have to figure out how to have them there without Sandie feeling like my clan is taking over her trip. However if it is just my parents and not the whole clan, it could be a good MIL distraction tactic if needed!
I am blessed to be surrounded by Disney freaks.
I am sure it will be discussed at Ocktoberfest tonight!
Her name Chanel...with a crown studded collar...need I say more:

2/17-Lunch-Sanaa
2/17-Dinner-I am toying with one more TS and paying OOP for this as Jiko is 2TS.........It's a free night for me so I could really eat anywhere......
Here's my short list:
Boma (completing the AKL/V Trifecta)
Rose and Crown
Le Cellier
Chefs de France
Flying Fish
Raglan Road
Kona Cafe
Not sure if this is a done deal. I have a week to think about it....

Good thinking on the switch. Last year, Presidents Week, MK was horrid every day, as was DHS. Epcot and AK not so bad....
It did not seem to be terribly EMH related but then again I could have just been in a daze. Either way, definitely hit DHS in the am.
Or come back after EMH starts at night! The EMH crowds at night, once it started, were not bad anywhere (comparatively)

We got our love of Disney from Jim's uncle and our boys and DILs have it too, so it's being passed down to our grandchildren. I'm really worried about being "the MIL" too, after reading all those stories. I'm younger than most of "those MILS", but I can tell we're already getting on our kids' nerves. I guess when we pay for the rooms on our big "together" trip in 2012, they'll probably give us a little grace! :goodvibes

Tammie,
I think they key is to realize up front that it is ok if everyone isn't together, all the time. That sometimes the individual families might have their own needs and agenda's. And that everyone needs breathing space at times.
It took my mom until the 2nd trip to figure that out (and a heart to heart from myself and my sisters with her before the trip) but she "get's" it now and is a joy to travel with. She is an uber uber planner but has learned it's ok for her to plan as much as she wants, share with everyone, and they will follow along...or not...and both are ok.

Nope...he didn't change his ways...just was working on his deck during the game so he didn't know what the score was. So that explains why he was rubbing it in...LOL! We went to breakfast with my parents this morning and my DH asked if my brother was going to be there and I said no (brother lives near Cleveland and were supposed to be home this weekend)...Dh says "good!" :lmao:
On disney trip news...my parents bought Caleb a new umbrella stroller because they thought I was crazy for bringing my big stoller...it had two cup holders for ME and thats why I wanted to bring it...but apparently this new one has one cup holder for me but none for DS, so oh well kid...mommy has a place for her diet coke or beer depending on what park she is in! lol!

I laughed..I cried..I developed a crush...okay..so maybe I didn't cry, but it was very cool seeing the pics of you with your nieces and how close you are. At any rate, very cool ptr, I've just read it in two sittings (nothing like having to be up in the middle of the night to do resp treatments for a groggy child..lol), and truly enjoyed it. The way you link at the bottom of the entries was very handy. Will look forward to following along now that I'm caught up :)

Ok, I'm trying to get my ADR plans straight. Please explain to me what is going on with the ADR's as far as the whole 90 day or 180 day thing. Is it switching BACK to 180 days ON October 27th?? If so, then we are already inside the 180 day mark, correct? Beyond that, I've read different things about what time to do this. I plan on doing it online so is the 3 am time supposed to be 3am eastern?? :confused3 I'm a little confused and don't want to miss the boat if ya know what I mean! :thumbsup2

Always my pleasure. My parents had the opposite problem of never being where they were supposed to be (WITH MY KIDS!). They showed up to the parks when they got hungry, mind you they never wanted to help plan or make ADRs, and then proceeded to complain about hot dogs and nuggets. Ummm.... We're really not sure where we'll end up when we get back. We own a house in the Gateway Dist. but it's wAYYYYYYYYYYYY too small and in the middle of urbania! I think we'll opt out of the driveby shooting range, and try to find something out toward Forest Grove or Cornelius Pass.

I'm hoping the prices from JFK to LAX come down. American has the best flight times and options, but the prices are so high right now. I paid $275 for my trip to St. Louis and even thought that was high considering it's a short flight.
I'm also hoping the prices to MCO from either JFK or LaGuardia come down. I priced our late Aug/early Sept trip and the flights range from $300-$400 per person either on Delta or American. :scared1: The flight isn't even 3 hours!!! Continental is slightly cheaper, but driving to Newark is a pain and I'll have to park at the airport. That ends up being more money. I prefer the short trip to JFK or the even shorter one to LaGuardia and pay car service. I'm hoping that either the prices come down or JetBlue releases better rates. Right now, JetBlue only has rates out for up until April 30th.
Does JetBlue fly to LAX?

We only have 2 days off of school for Mardi Gras. Not enough to plan a trip. Plus DH couldn't get off that week. We weren't going to book a trip because of those reasons and we weren't sure about pulling him out of school. When the buy 4 get 3 free deal came out I decided to talk to his teacher and school and see what they think about pulling kids out of school. Turns out they are totally fine with it for Kindergarten as long as the child isn't extremely behind. So, there you go! We are booked and I can't believe it all worked out. If you remember, I really thought it was a lost cause. Funny how pixie dust works. :thumbsup2

Yeah this was always our favorite week to go. Either before Mardi Gras or after it depending on how it is situated to Presidents Day weekend. I pretty much went with Touring Plans' info to create our itenerary. I hope it works! Here is what we've got:
Sat. 6th - Epcot *Coral Reef* tonight. (gotta have that octopus juice!)
Sun 7th - Epcot (I thought about changing one of these Epcot days because I usually like to spread them out rather than do the same park back to back. But I may just leave it and see how it goes.) *Teppan Edo* tonight.
Mon 8th - MK *O'hana tonight*
Tues 9th - AK & maybe a little DHS. Not sure because we are doing hoop dee doo this evening at 7:15 so we may just make a day of AK. (especially since we are doing DHS the next day)
Wed 10th- DHS *50's-lunch* / *Captain's Grill for dinner at the Yact/Beach Club* (just because we've never been)
Thurs 11th - AK / DTD *Donald's Safari Breakfast @ Tusker House* / *T-Rex for dinner*
Fri 12th - MK *Kona - dinner*
Sometimes I look at it and love it and sometimes I look at it and think I could/should change a couple of things. Who knows what will happen by February!! :rolleyes1

I'll have to stop by and say hi and have a drink or two..
I'm on draft 4 right now...last trip I had 14 drafts...so things might change. it also kinda depends on the park hours once they get released. I am happy with it now.
We may end up at MK the morning of the 8th too, if Wendy can't get a good price for the redeye on the 5th. She may have to come in on the 6th and not have any park time. We'd probably do MK EMH (remember how good that was the last time or did you stay? I can't remember) on Sunday night and double back and do it again Monday morning before we head over to World Showcase.

Thats true! Thursday we will all be in DTD. On Friday we may do MK for most of the day then have our dinner at Kona around 6pm and then head to Epcot for the Evening Magic Hours. (assuming the EMH info I've gathered is correct)
We are leaving Saturday morning around 9 or 10 am so no parks on that day. BOO! :sad2:
I am really looking forward to our adventures....

Oh yes!!! I forgot about the MK evening hours on Sunday. I knew I was forgetting something. I need to make a new page, I have little notes written all over the place. We will definitely head over to MK for that after Epcot & dinner. DH is wondering where he is going to watch the Superbowl. I'm thinking a little bit of everywhere! Just pop in somewhere and get a quick fix and head out for more fun. :lmao:
He can help me babysit! ;) I'm babysitting while the adults go eat at the Wave.

We may end up at MK the morning of the 8th too, if Wendy can't get a good price for the redeye on the 5th. She may have to come in on the 6th and not have any park time.
Orrrrr, Wendy may decide to do a day flight on Friday and all 5 of us will crash at Uncle Jordie's Pop pad for the night.... ha ha ha ha ha. :rotfl2:

Hello Jordan!!!!!
I hope I'm not interrupting anything too special. I finally made it here to catch up on your PTR. I've missed a lot.
Congrats on getting your air booked.
I am both happy and jealous about your stay at AKL!!!:snooty:
Your itin. looks good so far. I'm sure you'll get it ironed out before you go. With so many days it can't be easy.
I love all the pictures of you with the kids. :goodvibes

Chapter 37-A new wrinkle in the plans.
Before I get to details about the trip....
Here's what I did today
1) I took the 4runner in to be serviced
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/random%202009/newcar001.jpg
2) My roommate, Jean, and I went out to breakfast at the Original Pancake House. The original Original Pancake house is in Portland, although the one in Anaheim's been around since 1958.

Jean

She ordered the Dutch Baby:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/random%202009/mondaydayoff001.jpg
I had the banana pancakes with tropical syrup:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/random%202009/mondaydayoff002.jpg
We had a couple more hours to kill before my car was ready so we went to the Block (mall) and hung out at Borders. We drove by here on the way to the Block:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/random%202009/mondaydayoff003.jpg
Then on to Borders:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/random%202009/mondaydayoff004.jpg
Of course I only had one thing on my mind:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/random%202009/mondaydayoff005.jpg
The tongue makes a guest appearance:
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc299/jordanyosh/random%202009/mondaydayoff006.jpg
It's so weird how much things haved changed in such a short time. I think I was still buying the Birnbaums and Unofficial Guide til 2006. Wouldn't even buy one now...
On the way back to pick up my car. We drove by Angel's Stadium:

Dining news
I've been looking at my dining plans and I'm really bummed that I won't have more table service meals. I had thought about adding the regular Dining Plan to the front end of my trip. But somehow it didn't really feel right to have to have some TS meals alone while the rest of the gang was still there. With the solo part of my trip I have 3 TS meals scheduled with one more optional that would be OOP.
What I am now thinking of doing is adding the Deluxe Dining Plan....for 4 nights its about 280 dollars. I'm already spending 160 for the regular Dining Plan.....What Deluxe DDP gets me is 12 TS and/or CS credits to work with for those last 4 days....
So IF I were to do that here would be my TS/CS meals
Sunday 2/14: Dinner-Boma
Monday 2/15: Breakfast-Kona Cafe, Lunch-Leaning Palms, Dinner-Jiko
Tuesday 2/16: Lunch-Brown Derby, Dinner-Flying Fish
Wednesday 2/17: Lunch-Sanaa or Le Cellier, Dinner-CA Grill
I thought about whether it would be uncomfortable eating solo. Jiko, Flying Fish and Ca Grill all have counter top seating around a cooking area--very nice for singles to eat! For lunch or breakfast, I don't think it'll be as bad. Doing Deluxe allows me to complete the AKL trifecta. It also allows me to try Kona Cafe! the only regret...no Kouzzina--at least as of this minute. In order to fit 12 meals in 3 1/2 days I had to do alot of Signature Dining so Flying Fish took the place of Kouzzina.
I haven't even thought if I could afford it, although I'm pretty sure I would....
So what do you think? Should I pull the trigger? I don't need to pay for it right now. I can make all the ADRs and just cancel later.......

For what it's worth, I'd go ahead and add it, if you don't think it'd be too much of a strain. I think having a few double credit meals would be great- single or not!! I could see going to Artist's Point or Jiko's a as nice bonus- and Hoop too!! Although, Hoop single, wouldn't be so fun; better with a group.
So tell me, if you get FD, can you pay the diff, and upgrade to DX?? Yeah, I know there's a whole thread on it, but a quick answer would be good from all of you in the know!

They finally built one in Seattle although it's a million miles away. I've sworn I'm making us go and really, I'm going to follow through on that. Soon I think. Either that or attempt to make a dutch baby. I used to know how but wow, it's been a long time. Hard to make it for 6 though I'm thinking, I wouldn't want to share.
So...just so I am clear, you went and looked at the books but didn't buy them? Just checking.

Yes, that's the much inferior California Adventure version of the ToT.
So that's how you abbreviate it. I was trying to figure it out last night.
Money isn't as much the issue as how much steak and dessert I can fit in my stomach. The DxDP also includes appetizer...

Considering the signature dining places you are planning, I think the $120 is a good investment!
I would love to try Sanaa, esp since we'll be staying right there at Kidani, but I'm afraid the rest of the family would not like it at all. Oh well, there's always Boma for breakfast!

Just to be different, I'm going to say no, don't do the DxDDP.
I've found I don't like planning my days around ADRs all that much. And I can't eat all that food either!!
But, if you like planning that many ADRs and you can eat that much, number crunch it and figure out what the best bet is for your buck.

Jordan:
We upgraded from free dining to the DxDDP for our trip last September. I really liked the opportunity to get appetizers (especially the sushi at Calif Grill), but by the time we were eating at 1900 Park Fare on Saturday night, I had had enough food and was not able to eat much of anything. I think I ate 3-4 bites of salad and some dessert. If I did it again, I would do it as a solo or with an all-adult party.
I booked a bounceback for next year with my parent's, but we probably won't upgrade to the DxDDP.

Eating that much food probably won't be much of a problem, but planning around my ADRs might be. I like flexibility in my solo time so we'll see if I end up keeping the DxDDP.

My last trip was a 2-parter. The first part was 4 nights with the reg DDP. The 2nd part was 4 nights that we upgraded to the DxDDP. So, the Saturday night at 1900 Park Fare was the 4th night of the 4 on the DxDDP. We didn't really use our snack credits very well. In fact, I didn't even have ONE of these: :mickeybar:! Unbelievable!
We did breakfast at Kona one day at 10:30am, not so hard for a non-morning person!

Yeah, in 08 we had 23 snack credits with one day to go. We were trying to get full value for them and ended up with too many at the end.:)
I can't believe you didn't have a mickey bar, but at the beginning we didn't deem ice cream bars or soda "snack worthy"...

So what do you think? Should I pull the trigger? I don't need to pay for it right now. I can make all the ADRs and just cancel later.......
YES!! I think you should. Like you said....don't have to pay for it now and really only need to know 45 days before :thumbsup2 Go for it! Make your ADR's and then you can always cancel!
BTW - did you see my new ticker I have below?? Will have a prince or princess soon to take to the most magical place in the world! Can't wait!!!!

I say go for DxDP. We've done it twice. And while it is a lot of food (we didn't nearly finish all of that food), it was nice to have lots of options prepaid. And the AKL trifecta would be a reality :thumbsup2

Well, that was certainly something to wake up to! :lmao:I could have gotten another 15 mintutes of sleep and not missed that at all!
Tub stories; one time, my mom and grandma went on a road trip (I was about 10, I think, so I don't remember where) but DGM started snoring sooooooooo bad, I bagged a place in the tub just to get away. It can happen... :rolleyes1 It can actually even be sorty comfy given enough pillows and comforters. :rotfl2:
Gym bet: NADA, NOT ONCE, ZERO times!! After DxDDP it will be hard to roll down there, I think.

i'm leaning towards the DxDP, but I want to make sure I'm not giving up a ton of flexibility before I for sure go for it. I'll probably make the reservations and then decide for sure.

I would have to bring workout clothes for me to go to the gym. I think one year I went 3-4 times....so it is possible.......but I'm guessing it's not going to happen....

see it's not the workout clothes that are the problem, it is the workout shoes...that take up a lot of space in the suitcase and are not park shoes! or pool shoes...or restaurant shoes...

No kidding, I read he needs new workout shoes and I remember I "need" Zumba shoes.
Seriously. No one needs to be looking at Zappos at this hour, Zumba or not. Talk about easily led astray!
I'll just squeak and stick another week. An impulse by won't help tomorrows class! Night west coasters and 'Staners!
