Helloooooooo and welcome to my brand new food report! I had great fun writing last years, so I’m back for another go!
MEDICAL DISCLAIMER!! I am afraid to say you are not going to see much healthy food over the course of this review. There is, however, a medical reason!!! Yes, I am able to justify the diet you are about to see before you! I suffer a bit of an ongoing tummy problem, which has been getting a lot worse lately. When I went to the doctor he asked me about my diet. I proudly (and a little smugly) told him that I eat about 8 portions of fruit and veg a day. He advised me that this is “too healthy” and I needed to cut back.
Well, as you will see, I am never one to ignore doctor’s orders!!!!!!!!! :rotfl2:
So let me introduce us, I am Sonya and my DH is Tony. We have been together 7 years, been to Disney 6 times in that time (in 2004 I won a holiday to Australia so we couldn’t go to Florida . . . ironically I only entered the competition to try and win the 2nd prize which was cash, in order to pay for a Florida trip!), and in 2006 we got married in Disney’s wedding pavilion. We love us a bit of Disney.
Things we don’t like – seafood and small portions, so you won’t see much of them here! Apart from that we are pretty much anything goes, diet-wise!
This year’s trip was quite long! We spent two weeks in Orlando from May 2nd – 16th, and then a week on the Disney Magic cruising the Western Caribbean! That’s a lot of food . . . that’s a lot of weight to gain. Tony has already weighed himself . . . it wasn’t pretty. I am holding off for a week or so!
This is us on the formal night on board. Hi there!!
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1030522.jpg http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1030537.jpg
Had a bit of a rough start to the trip – we were meant to be staying at Port Orleans Riverside . . . when we arrived they told us Virgin (our TA’s) had cancelled the booking 10 days earlier, and the hotel was full!!!!! :scared1:Thank goodness for Disney customer service is all I can say. They found us a room at French Quarter (where we stayed last year and loved) and we decided to stay there for the full two weeks (nearer to the beignets!!). Took a few days for the TA to sort out the dining plan (which we were on for the first time) and our park tickets, as they were cancelled as well, but we got there in the end! And yes, there is a 6 page complaint letter in the post to our travel agents as we speak!!! And no, stress doesn’t put us off our food! :thumbsup2
So without further ado, a list below of the places we will be reviewing! We went to a mix of old and new places (to us) this year, and have a new surprise favourite!

WOW!! I can't believe how many responses I've had already!! Thank you! Let me get this posted, and then I will answer you!:goodvibes
So let us begin with the first evening!
By the time we sorted out the problems with the room it was getting on for 7.30, and we were feeling the travel, so we decided just to stay on site. We walked down to the Riverside Mill at Port Orleans Riverside, as I had read about the make your own pasta dishes. This looked pretty good up close so I went for it! There are loads of meats, veg and sauces to choose from; I went for chicken, penne pasta, mushrooms, prochuttio ham, and broccoli in a creamy alfredo sauce, with mountains of cheese on top. This came with a bread stick. It only takes a few minutes to make and you can see them doing it. Portions are HUGE! I really, really enjoyed this. Creamy, tasty, and loads of pasta – just the comfort food I was craving. The bread stick was dry so I left that. I give it 8.5/10 (loses a bit for the breadsticks, and found a bone in the chicken!).
MYO Pasta
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020235.jpg
Tony went for a pepperoni pizza, with some breadsticks and a marinara dipping sauce. He said this was moist and tomatoey, and not dry and gives it 8/10. The bread sticks were a bit dry and get 6/10.

Dessert time!!!! No guesses as to what I would have – the one reason I wanted to stay at Riverside! The Magic Cookie Bar. A graham cracker base, covered in choc chips, coconut, nuts and condensed milk, and then baked. DIVINE!!! I ate about half with dinner, and then put the rest in the fridge in our room and ate over the next couple of days. Ok, I ate it the next morning as a pre-run snack, but who’s judging?! :rotfl:Its actually even nicer chilled, so try that! 10/10!

Tony went for the chocolate cake which was moist and rich and gets 8.5/10.
We hadn’t bought the refillable mugs at this point, as we weren’t sure where we were going to end up staying, so the server gave us free cups to use the soda machines, rather than charging us – I love Disney!
And that was our first night – we were very pleased so far!
Coming tomorrow – not a full Disney day . Sassagoula Floatworks for breakfast, starbucks snack, Earl of Sandwich lunch and Tony Romas dinner.
Little bonus picture – on the way to the airport in the UK we stopped for a Krispy Kreme dinner! Yummo!!!

Oh...but Digestives just wouldn't do this receipe justice...they are lacking a certian flavour that the Graham Crackers have...maybe someone from this side of the pond will have to send some Graham Crackers to you.
Now that being said...hello all and thank you Sonya for your wonderful reports. I have been a Disney fan for years (even was a Cast Member with the Stores in Toronto for 6 years) but it wasn't until our last trip in Aug 08 that I discovered the Dis. My dh and I were doing a search while planning our ADRs and Sonya's food report came up. Needless to say we read every word of it and we are now hooked (on Dis and Sonya's reports!:rotfl:) I am looking forward to this years instalment. We are in the process of planning our Nov/Dec 09 trip so maybe we will get some ideas from your report!!!

you dont have Graham Crackers! :scared1: How do you make S'mores?
Graham Cracker Recipe
2 1/2 cups plus 2 tablespoons unbleached pastry flour or unbleached all-purpose flour
1 cup dark brown sugar, lightly packed
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
7 tablespoons (3 1/2 ounces) unsalted butter, cut into 1-inch cubes and frozen
1/3 cup mild-flavored honey, such as clover
5 tablespoons whole milk
2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract
For the topping:
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
In the bowl of a food processor fitted with the steel blade or in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, combine the flour, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt. Pulse or mix on low to incorporate. Add the butter and pulse on and off on and off, or mix on low, until the mixture is the consistency of a coarse meal.
In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, milk, and vanilla extract. Add to the flour mixture and pulse on and off a few times or mix on low until the dough barely comes together. It will be very soft and sticky.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured work surface and pat the dough into a rectangle about 1 inch thick. Wrap in plastic and chill until firm, about 2 hours or overnight.
To prepare the topping: In a small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon, and set aside.
Divide the dough in half and return one half to the refrigerator. Sift an even layer of flour onto the work surface and roll the dough into a long rectangle about 1/8 inch thick. The dough will be sticky, so flour as necessary. Trim the edges of the rectangle to 4 inches wide. Working with the shorter side of the rectangle parallel to the work surface, cut the strip every 4 1/2 inches to make 4 crackers. Gather the scraps together and set aside. Place the crackers on one or two parchment-lined baking sheets and sprinkle with the topping. Chill until firm, about 30 to 45 minutes. Repeat with the second batch of dough.
Adjust the oven rack to the upper and lower positions and preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Gather the scraps together into a ball, chill until firm, and reroll. Dust the surface with more flour and roll out the dough to get about two or three more crackers.
Mark a vertical line down the middle of each cracker, being careful not to cut through the dough. Using a toothpick or skewer, prick the dough to form two dotted rows about 1/2 inch for each side of the dividing line.
Bake for 25 minutes, until browned and slightly firm to the tough, rotating the sheets halfway through to ensure even baking.
Yield: 10 large crackers

Alright then, I've made it here from just finishing your report from last year. No lapse for me even though I am a year behind.
Looking forward to enjoying your reviews as I very impatiently count down the last 19 days until we load the van and start the looooong road trip.
Your review of the Cheesecake Factory had me frantically searching for locations along the I75 since we are ADR'd completely for the 8 days we are there. No luck, though. There is one in Tampa, though...relatively near where we will be staying for the second leg of our trip.
I am also trying to figure out a way to fit EoS in but I really think I cannot do it as I was already squeezing for WPE. I already have a full ADR list for our next-not-yet-agreed-to-nor-scheduled-trip.
Ok...I'm settled in popcorn::
Hi Sonya. As I posted on your other thread, I've really been looking forward to your reviews of this year's trip. I think you should be sponsored by Disney somehow. You are a Disboards celebrity!
We go to WDW in 1 week (staying at our DVC home, Beach Club Villas) and I will definitely be trying the Magic Cookie Bar.

I remember you fondly from the other report, Sonya. You and your hubby eat like truck drivers, yet are impossibly thin compared to your food intake. My theory: You both have the metabolism of a hummingbird.
I hope you share with us the results of the travel agent faux pas that made the start of your trip shaky.
And the magic cookie bar....that's a Sonya report staple. :cloud9:

Oh we went there 4 times in total! I have still never had a bad bite there!
We loved the POR food court! I loved the make your own pasta dishes too. It was my favorite
I can't tell you how much I could eat that right now! I think where ever we stay in future, I would definitely return for this!
Definitely following this report...I can't wait!
Hi there! :goodvibes
Can't wait to try the Magic Cookie Bar - can see this becoming a favourite!!QUOTE]
Prepare for the addiction!
[QUOTE=ozziewags;32054175]I have that cookie bar recipe. I will hunt for it and try and post it. :)
Oh my goodness - thanks so much for posting! I brought home from Walmart some "Eagle Brand" make your own boxes of magic bars - I can make them in peace now I know I have a back up!
Cannot wait for the meat and potatoes of the report
Lots of meat coming! No veg!!:rotfl:
Can't wait for this report. Your reviews will help me decide where to make our ADR's for our fall trip.
So far so good. Your meal at Riverside looked delicious. Your pasta choices sounded yummy.
You looked beautiful in that dress! I love the flowers on it. DH looks rather dashing as well!
Looking forward to moreQUOTE]
Ah thank you!
Happy picking with your ADR's! Its so hard choosing - so many good places to pick from!
[QUOTE=Twinkly-Tink;32056158]Thanks Sonya - sorry for hijacking your thread
No problem! :goodvibes
Tracey
No digestives dont quite cut it!! We are seriously deprived over here! The one supermarket which did Reese's cups doesn't do them any more :scared1: Thank goodness for the lovely people we cruised with - they filled my fish extender with them!!
Oh I can't believe you were a cast member - I would love that! Did you get discounts on vacations? ;)
I hope you get some ideas! Where are your favourite places to eat currently?
you dont have Graham Crackers! :scared1: How do you make S'mores?
Prepare yourself - WE DON'T HAVE SMORES IN THE UK! I know, I know :sad1: :confused3 You can't imagine how confusing it is when they keep getting mentioned in films made in the USA - took us years to find out what they are!!!! I had my first smores last year in 50''s Prime Time and LOVED them ! And now I have the graham cracker recipe - thank you so much!!!!! :goodvibes
PS Sonya - you do NOT have clown feet!!
I now want to make Magic Cookie Bars!!
and our Krispy Kream closed! those melt in your moth delicacies!! oh my! :lovestruc
Make some bars and post a picture!!!
Krispy Kremes are just the best donuts WORLD WIDE!! Our nearest one is 2 hours away, and we often make the journey!!!!!
Ok...I'm settled in
Oh only 19 days until your trip - SO lucky!! EoS Is great, and we also tried WGP for the first time this year! I could just live at DTD!!!
I hope you get chance to try the Cheesecake Factory at Tampa. Thats the first Cheesecake Factory I ever laid my eyes on, on the way to Busch Gardens. Made the mistake of waiting until we got back to the UK to have a look at the menu online - amaetuer!!!!:sad2:
I wish they would sponsor me! I would happily accept 2 free weeks stay a year!! :goodvibes. It would be a sacrifice, but one I am willing to make . . .
Hope you have a lovely stay - I would LOVE to stay at Beach Club. I think its gorgeous. There is another foodcourt which does the magic cookie bars as well - its either AK Lodge or Wilderness Lodge - so keep an eye out of you're that way!
Love your reviews! Cant wait for more
Thanks! :thumbsup2

glad you found a Walmart with the Eagle Brand kit - they do great! (of course anything that has Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed milk is YUMMMY!)
No S'mores - well of course not if you dont have the graham crackers! My goodness! How can you have campfires without getting a burnt marshmellow stuck between a hard bar of chocolate, the graham cracker holds it all together! :rotfl:

Oh mercy are you missing out!
Smores are like a delicious dessert sandwich! You need two graham crackers. In the middle you put a piece of chocolate bar (hershey's is what we always use) and then you put a roasted toasted marshmallow which melts the chocolate and makes it all ooey gooey and delicious. They are great when made over a campfire.

I am with you with Magic Cookie Bars! You got me hooked on them last year, Mmm! I was gutted I'd have to wait another 2 years for one, but I'm going to get me one next month! We're planning on staying at Wilderness Lodge next Summer, so I was very excited to find that they do them too - we're going to head over next month to... ahem... take photos of the resort for our families ;)
My EoS soulmate! Even if we have no other reason to head for WDW this year, EoS will bring us there! It will only be one visit, so I'm even fantasizing about ordering multiple sandwiches, trying to guess if they wrap up well so I can take them back to EoS-less I Drive :)
AND despite not having a car, now I want to take a taxi over to Walmart to get the Magic Cookie kits! I made some using the recipe too, subbing graham crackers for digestives - not the same :( They just went in the bin!
Looking forward to some more!!

Pizza & breadsticks

Dessert time!!!! No guesses as to what I would have – the one reason I wanted to stay at Riverside! The Magic Cookie Bar. A graham cracker base, covered in choc chips, coconut, nuts and condensed milk, and then baked. DIVINE!!! I ate about half with dinner, and then put the rest in the fridge in our room and ate over the next couple of days. Ok, I ate it the next morning as a pre-run snack, but who’s judging?! :rotfl:Its actually even nicer chilled, so try that! 10/10!
Giant choc cake front, and magic cookie bar
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020234.jpg
Yummo!!!

Anyway on to the real topic of discussion I am booked in with my DH, DD & DS to POFQ in August and am intrigues by the pasta station you described. Is it a TS or CS? I am on free dining.
Thanks for the details great to hear opinions of fellow DISers:yay:

Oh I can't believe you were a cast member - I would love that! Did you get discounts on vacations? ;)
I hope you get some ideas! Where are your favourite places to eat currently?
Yes...I definately miss the discounts I got as a Cast Member! As a matter of fact, I just said to my dh last night...maybe I should go get a part time job at the Disney Store to help with the cost of this trip. He didn't think that was such a good idea though...apparently he thinks I would spend more than I make and that would negate any saving we would get on our trip. :rotfl: Not to mention the fact that then I couldn't even go on the trip...vacation in the month of December is not happening if you work in retail!
As for our favourite restaurants...with the kids we seem to do a lot of character meals...they love them (who am I kidding...we love them too!) But this year we are doing "Date Night" and going to Schula's at the Dolphin for dinner. I will be our 13th anniversary while we are in the World so my dh wants to do something "just the 2 of us". He chose Schula's b/c he is a big NFL fan and loves him some steak! So the kiddies will go to Camp Dolphin (child care facility at the Dolphin) for a couple of hours and we will have Date Night!

This is my first time ever posting on someone else's thread but I had to jump in and say that I LOVED your last report, it was the first one I'd ever read! We are very similar in our approach to holiday dining... quantity rather than quality!!! Bring it on, I can't wait to read all about it! I'm off again in September and you have been to many of my (hopeful) choices!
If you're after fantastic discounts in WDW, you should do what I did and go off on the International Program and spend a year in Epcot! Not only do you get to go and work there every day, but you also get free entry into all of the other parks!!! What could be better? How about discounts on dining and merchandise? Oh yes!!!! :cool1: Needless to say, it makes my boring job back in the UK seem even worse! How could it possibly be better than working for the Mouse?!?!

May 3rd.
We woke up starving thanks to the time difference – we were already ready for lunch! I had to nibble my magic cookie bar before I even had the strength to get dressed.:lmao:
We had Boma booked for breakfast – I was so excited to try this, having had to miss our ADR last year when Tony over indulged on chilli at Trails End the night before and was up unwell all night . . .!
Of course Virgin – our travel agents - had other ideas!!! Breakfast was booked for 8.50 (I had called earlier to see if they could fit us in a little later, but they only had 10.30 which was too late). We went to see Virgin at POR at 8am to sort out the problems with our room thinking that would be plenty of time. Yup you guessed it – we were still there at 9am! No Boma for me again (well actually we booked an ADR for later in the vacation, but so not the point!).
So a food court breakfast it was, and what else would we choose but Sassagoula Floatworks at POFQ and the beignets. Tony announced he wasn’t really bothered about eating them and couldn’t remember why we had liked them so much . . . he then took a bite and joy spread over his face! It is hard to describe why these are good – they are basically just deep fried pastry with an inch of icing sugar over them! But good they are!!! So light and sweet – mmmmmmm! I ate one and Tony had two, and then we had some very exciting Special K to go with them! I gave them 9 out of ten, and Tony gave them 10. Not exactly Boma, but at least it meant we had room for lunch!
Beignets

We went shopping for the morning and stopped at Starbucks for a quick pick-me-up, and decided to share a cinnamon bun. This was very disappointing – dry and they didn’t even warm it up! I only had a little bit of it. I give it 5 and Tony (who consumed the rest of it!) gave it 7.
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020241.jpg
Then on to lunch, and the love of our lunchtime lives – The Earl! We LOVE this place! I had my usual The Original (fresh roasted beef, cheddar and creamy horseradish sauce ) and Tony had the Full Montague (roast beef and turkey with cheddar and Swiss cheese, romaine lettuce, tomato and Earl's mustard ). We also shared a brownie and pack of chips. This was EXCELLENT! The bread was light and the filling very plentiful – loads of thinly sliced beef and creamy horseradish. I give my sandwich 10/10. Tony gave his 9/10, and the brownie 10/10. The brownie seemed a tiny bit drier than I am used to (they improve as our visits increase), but the chips were light and crunchy. Over all excellent and lived up to expectations.

Dinner was . . . off-site. I know! I’m sorry but I just had to get my rib rations started! So we headed over to an old favourite, Tony Romas on I-Drive. Very un-amused when we arrived to find they had taken wings off the menu?! What sort of rib restaurant doesn’t serve wings?!!! I was not happy! I asked about this and was informed they do have them, just the boneless ones – they called them “Boneless Buffalo Bites”. Now I have a rule – “if it ain't got bones then it isn’t a wing” – however I was desperate enough to try them. So to start we ordered the alleged wings and half an onion loaf (Giant hand-cut Spanish onions, breaded, deep fried and served with our house BBQ dipping sauce). The onion loaf was superb – we didn’t have one last year and I had forgotten how good it was. Really crisps battered onion, and lovely tasty fresh dip – 10/10 for that. The wings were another matter – they were just pieces of breast meat in breadcrumbs. That’s not a wing! I only ate a couple. Tony said they were good but a bit dry.

Imposter wings
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020270.jpg
On to entrees. We both ordered full racks of ribs – Tony had original sauce whereas I went for Blue Smokies. I had baked potato and broccoli. Tony went for fries and corn. When his came the server had ordered corn fritter casserole rather than corn on the cob! I really liked it though – tasted just like cornbread. This was all really good! The ribs were fall off the bone. I know I promised to try somewhere that wasn’t a chain this year; but we really enjoy it here! Maybe next year though, unless the wings come back on the menu! As a whole I gave the meal 9/10, and Tony gave it 9.5/10.

Yummmmm! Those Ribs look great. We have Tony Roma's up in Canada, but the three or so times we've tried them the ribs were always really fatty. We both love ribs but only if they're meaty. Can't handle the texture of fatty ribs.
Can't wait for your T-Rex review. We have that booked especially for DS8 in LESS than three weeks
And I'll cast my vote for Christmas...mostly because we were supposed to go this past Christmas for a Grand Gathering with my parents, brother and his wife, but since it was their year with her parents it didn't work out. I'd LOVE to see the castle at Christmas! Our next Christmas possibility would be 2010 too.

I totally agree with you on the boneless wings! Ugh! There is nothing worse than a glorified chicken nugget dunked in barbecue sauce and called a wing! :rotfl:

Can't wait for your T-Rex review. Its the first place on our upcoming trip to try.

No wings! That and the TA hotel issue - I'd have been freaking out by then (prolly before then)... although those ribs sure looked good! And maybe the Magic Cookie bar and Beignets helped too. I hope you got to get wings elsewhere during your trip sometime!

Note to self - DO NOT read Sonya's food report until AFTER dinner. Nothing in the house looks as good as the sandwiches and ribs do.
I wish there was an EoS around us. I LOVE their sandwiches. I've never been to Tony Roma's but will definately have to search one out and try the ribs. They look fantastic.
Can't wait to read more...

Hi Sonya and Tony!
It was so great meeting you on the cruise. It was always a joy seeing your smiling faces as we passed in the hallways :)
I'm enjoying your new foodie report. Headed back to WDW in 2 weeks, so I'm anxiously reading your reports to see what I should order at all of our ADR restaurants :)
Your last report was so great, we decided to get the DxDP this time. :yay:
Thanks for taking the time to do this!
Love your cruise photos - you two looked fantastic on formal night :thumbsup2 I hope you both enjoyed the cruise as much as we did - it was really a dream vacation!

Hi everyone, I am the world-reknowned (!) other half of Pooh's-Honey-Pot! I thought I would join the DIS boards, and add to DW's food report as I see fit, as I was there :cool1:
It was so nice to meet everyone on the Disney Magic, this is what I love about American people, they are all so friendly :grouphug:
Anyway, look out for me on future updates from Sonya aka PHP!

Thanks!
That's fantastic! I'll enjoy hearing from "the other half" as well. I'm looking forward to this report as I just found PHP's from last year a couple of days ago and finished it late last night. popcorn::
Just wanted to say Ms.H that I also found your report today that had been bumped from your last trip and LOVED it!! I was having withdrawl after finishing PHP's last report and then I found yours and read all of it this morning. I think I'm a little obsessed with food porn! :cool1:
Most people read trip reports to get them to their next trip - I am with you - its all about the food!
Oh Ms H - i will go take a look at yours!
Hello my name is Tasha. We are going on our first trip to disney soon.
I have to make my ADRs tomorrow:scared1:
I am really enjoying your trip report!
Do the cookie bars have alot of the coconut taste? They look really good.
First trip!!! Yey! I hope your ADR's went Ok - where did you get?
The prevalent taste in the magic cookie bars is the choc chips and biscuit base. The coconut is quite subtle.
I love your reviews, can't wait for more! I just want you to know that you and MickyNicki are the reason we had to up our WDW budget. After reading both of your reviews last spring, I can never go back to a counter service only trip! Thank you!!! :worship:
I know how you feel! Once you start reading about all these treats you just have to find room and money for them - I don't know which is harder!!!! :rotfl:
Love your reviews, can't wait for more.
Thank you!!:goodvibes
:wave2: What a great idea!!!! Can't wait to hear your thoughts too!!
I wish I could convince my fiance to join the DIS too! I think maybe our dining report could convince him!! :)
Tony has called me a "geek" for years for being on here . . . now he has come over to the bright side!! Tony even filled ina little dining report every night on vacation that I created for him, so he didn't forget anything!!!!!!!
Everything looks delicious so far! Leaving in less than a week... can't wait to see it first hand!
Less than a week!!!!:cool1: have a great time - look forward to your dining reviews!!!!
For the right price I might be able to send a case over the "pond"... ;)
Carol - I think I love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just finished reading your last review:thumbsup2 Can't wait to read this one:cool1: By the way I love that dress you are wearing on the cruise.
Ah thank you! :goodvibes
Hi Sonya and Tony! DH and I are excited to read both of your reviews! You're so lucky to spend 2 weeks there and a week on the cruise (and eat all that yummy food)- we aspire to be like you someday! lol
We were lucky - it was a great trip! I told Tony it would be our last trip for a few years so we may as well do it in style . . . can't believe he fell for it!!!!!!:rotfl:
Finally got over to the restaurant board to find your new report. I'm now perched by the 'puter with cutlery in hand just waiting to share your fab dining experiences. :hippie:
I'm afraid us poor cousins over the pond have to make do with just a toasted marshmallow on a stick! :sad2:
Welcome, PHP's Hubby! :wave2:

I'm joining in! How are you on page 6 already?! xx
Hey you! Everyone this is my best friend from school! We booked our trips at roughly the same time, and would you believe in spite of the size of the World we bumped into each other twice!! Once in "England" in Epcot!!!!
1st time checking in and you seem to have quite a fan club too bad they can't get to hear the English accent while you type. I get people just ask me to talk to hear my accent LOL.
Anyway on to the real topic of discussion I am booked in with my DH, DD & DS to POFQ in August and am intrigues by the pasta station you described. Is it a TS or CS? I am on free dining.
Thanks for the details great to hear opinions of fellow DISers:yay:
The pasta station was great AND its only a counter service credit!!! Woot!!
Its one of the things I love about being abroad, people commenting on my accent! Makes me feel like Mary Poppins!!!!!!! :rotfl:
You will love POFQ - have you stayed there before?
Om nom nom nom, that pasta looks nummy, and the cookie bar...*Drools* I'm on board, nice to see some fellow brit reviews!
Thanks!!:goodvibes
Thanks for the EoS tip!! I'm telling you, that's really going to come in handy!! :)
I'll have left my bikinis there, only to come back laden with EoS!
Hmm bikinis that we can't fit in to for at least 3 months after the v :goodvibesacation, or EoS - I know what my case would be full of!!!! The Earls finest!!
I wonder if we would get discounts working in the UK store - that might be worth looking into as a second job!!!!
Oh I've never been to Schula's - let us know what its like!
Can't wait to read them!! :goodvibes
Yeah!!!! I'm so looking forward to another of your reports, Sonya! You rock!
Thank you both!!:thumbsup2
This is my first time ever posting on someone else's thread but I had to jump in and say that I LOVED your last report, it was the first one I'd ever read! We are very similar in our approach to holiday dining... quantity rather than quality!!! Bring it on, I can't wait to read all about it! I'm off again in September and you have been to many of my (hopeful) choices!

Ha ha ha! To be honest, they practically had to drag me out of the back of Epcot while I clung on to The Rose and Crown with my fingernails! I was devastated! What could be better than going to the Magic Kingdom on your day off? Or popping to Ghiradelli's for a milkshake whenever you felt like? It was heaven! They even threw us a party in Animal Kingdom after hours... NEVER go on the Dinosaur ride when you've had a few cocktails! And, even though I saw what it looks like "out the back" of all the parks, the magic never wore off!
My current dream line up of ADRs are:
Chef Mickey's breakfast
Le Cellier
Hollywood and Vine
Planet Hollywood
Ohana
Chefs de France
Prime Time Cafe
Beaches and Cream
Chef Mickey's dinner (me and my friend like the cheesy mash!)
Tutto Italia
Teppan Edo
Boma
Sci Fi
Cape May Cafe breakfast
Finger's crossed for June 23rd when I can make my ADRs!!!

Never stayed at POFQ but I am sure you cannot go wrong with a Disney property. My vote for your next trip is Xmas at disney - don't get me wrong it is BUSY but they lights and the decorations made it so worth while. That was our trip instead of coming home to England.
Loving the reviews I didn't have EOS on my list but reading your reviews I think I might just have to make it one.
We have the following for our August trip
Raglan Rd
TRex
Tuskers Bfast
Ohana
CP Dinner
Park 1900 Bfast

Love it! Those ribs look absolutely delicious!! And the onion loaf! I've been eyeing up Tony Roma's menu - do you go to the one on I Drive?
I hate to admit it to the Queen of Wings herself, but... I am a fake winger *hides* I like the ones without bones in, but I suppose they are just glorified chicken nuggets! The ones at BWW are TDF!

Hey Sonya ~ Lovin' your report so far :thumbsup2. I promised myself to go to bed early last night (Jake had ~ 20 friends over Friday night and we had a cookout for ~ 20 people Sunday evening, so I was pooped :sad2:). As I was about to turn in, I realized I hadn't read your report so far :scared1:. So what does a "responsible grown-up" do...........that's right, I plugged in my laptop and read your report in bed popcorn::. I would vote on WDW at Christmas. It is my FAVORITE time to vist with all the decorations and nice weather. The crowds are insane between Christmas and New Years, but worth it in my opinion for the ambiance :flower3:. ~ Kathy
P.S.
We LOVE your accent as well . When Jake was little and we went to WDW, he would always listen for English accents and listen to the people speak with a smile on his face :).

I'm so excited I found your review.:yay: Those magic bars from Riverside are one of my favorites too and they travel home really well.
Looking forward to hearing about the rest of your trip.

Okay my pretty little DIS celebrity -- I am a little late to the party but I am here! Wouldn't miss it for the world! I loved the last one, loved meeting you two on the Magic and can't wait to see you both again. Umm.....this time I promise not to bombard you and your friends with stories of tequila.:rolleyes1
I still don't understand how you can eat so much and stay so little.
As for Tony Roma's -- the Carolina Honey's are my favorite. Do you guys want us to bring you some sauce when we come to the UK in December? I will definitely bring you graham crackers and Reese's!!!!
Can't wait to read the rest....count me in! popcorn::

Yeah, you are doing another report. I was a non-posting lurker last time, but decided to post this time. :)
Great start to your reports and I look forward to more. :thumbsup2
Yey! Thanks for posting!!:goodvibes
Those Ribs look fantastic!!
Can't wait for the next installment :thumbsup2
They were good! Next installment coming today!
I really enjoyed your reviews last year and so I'm super excited about the new ones.
I completely understand trying US Chain restaurants - you've think being from Canada, we'd get the whole lot of them but Nooooooo....
Those ribs look so good.
Sometimes you just need to try all the chain-places you see in films! We tried I-Hop in Vegas at Christmas and absolutely loved it!!
Loving it so far. Wow - What a mess at check in, especially after such a long flight.
I know!!!:sad2: We are booking it all ourselves next year!
Thanks for the compliment!:thumbsup2
Can't wait for your T-Rex review. We have that booked especially for DS8 in LESS than three weeks
And I'll cast my vote for Christmas...mostly because we were supposed to go this past Christmas for a Grand Gathering with my parents, brother and his wife, but since it was their year with her parents it didn't work out. I'd LOVE to see the castle at Christmas! Our next Christmas possibility would be 2010 too.
T-Rex coming right up tonight!!
I hope you get to go at Christmas - maybe we will be there at the same time!!!! I am dying to see the Castle decorated, but am a bit worried the weather will be chilly!!
I totally agree with you on the boneless wings! Ugh! There is nothing worse than a glorified chicken nugget dunked in barbecue sauce and called a wing! :rotfl:
Ditto on the wings!:snooty:
Can't wait for your T-Rex review. Its the first place on our upcoming trip to try.
Yeah! Lets start a wing revolution!!!!!!!!!!:cool1:
No wings! That and the TA hotel issue - I'd have been freaking out by then (prolly before then)... although those ribs sure looked good! And maybe the Magic Cookie bar and Beignets helped too. I hope you got to get wings elsewhere during your trip sometime!
No wings and no hotel room - I dont know which was worse!!!!:rotfl:
We have a trip to Buffalo Wild Wings coming up . . . !
The food has all looked wonderful so far! Looking forward to the next update :thumbsup2
Thanks!!:thumbsup2
Woohoo great reveiw so far, I can't wait to read the rest!!!!
Coming soon!!:goodvibes
Note to self - DO NOT read Sonya's food report until AFTER dinner. Nothing in the house looks as good as the sandwiches and ribs do.
I wish there was an EoS around us. I LOVE their sandwiches. I've never been to Tony Roma's but will definately have to search one out and try the ribs. They look fantastic.
Can't wait to read more...
It was a good days food!!! I can't remember which part of California you are in, but they definitely have Tony Romas there! We went to the one outside Disneyland!!
Imposter wings!! :rotfl2: Man that is one gigantic plate of ribs and potato!! :scared1:
and our Starbucks here in our town will heat up anything - you do have to ask - and sometimes they over heat it!!
I"M HUNGRY!!
ME TO!!!:rotfl:
Oh no, should have asked to have the bun heated!
Hello again! It was lovely meeting you as well!! We had a great cruise - I don't know if you have been back on the cruise thread but we have all decided to take over the 2012 Fantasy inagural saiing, so make sure you join us!!
I can't believe you are going back again in two weeks! Lucky girl!!! Wjhat ADR's do you have?
How big are those ribs???!!!!
HUGE!!!!!!!:rotfl:

Ohhhhhhhh I can just imagine popping to Ghiredellis whenever I feel like it! That is the life for me!!!! That sounds like it was the best time ever! I am so jealous!
You have got some great ADR's lined up! I hope you get them all, and that you do a food report!!:thumbsup2
CM
Fulton's
LeCellier Dinner
Oh so you have been there for Christmas? What was the weather like?
What part of the Uk are you from?
You have some great ADR's!! We LOVE Raglan Road and always go there!
great few days reports, cant wait to hear and see more :)
Thanks!!:goodvibes
Sure you ordered the full rack of ribs, but did you finish them??
I believe I left some of the broccoli!!! None of the good stuff though!!:rotfl:
Your vacation sounds like my dream. Thank you for your food reviews- awesome job!
You're welcome! :goodvibes
Oh Hayley . . . I need to find a smilie which is shaking its head in horror . . . :sad2::scared1: Thats the best I can do! Chicken Nugget Lover!
Tony Romas - yes, its the one on I-Drive (8560 I-Drive, according to the itinery cards I keep on my desk-top!!). And that onion loaf . . . that was only a half-sized one! You must go try it!!!
I look forward to reading more!
Thank you!:thumbsup2
Your pictures are making my mouth water! I too love the ribs at Tony Roma's. We ate at the one on I-Drive in 2006 and boy was it delicious! I can't wait to read more. It's getting me very excited for my trip in 3 weeks.
It is still just as good - are you trying it again this year?
Only 3 weeks! Yey! Have a great trip!
The crowds are insane between Christmas and New Years, but worth it in my opinion for the ambiance ~ Kathy
P.S.
We LOVE your accent as well . When Jake was little and we went to WDW, he would always listen for English accents and listen to the people speak with a smile on his face :).
Hi Kathy!!! I'm glad you priorised my food report over your well being!!!:rotfl:
So the weather in Florida is Ok at Christmas then?? I didn't realise you had done it before - i would have bombarded you with questions on the Magic!!

I would LOVE some sauce! Caroline Honeys and Smokey Ridge Blues are the best! I think we had Caroline Honey on the (fake) wings actually!
Well get this - my friend from the Uk who we met in Epcot (who commented on this report earlier) came back from two weeks in Disney FIVE pounds lighter!!!!!!!! I don't know how she did it!!!!

Orginally for South East, Essex.
Xmas is awesome at Disney. The weather I would say similar to UK Summer in the 70's quite chilly (for me) in the morning I wear a light sweater jacket but by 9.30am or so I was in just shorts and t-shirts no need for jacket in evening.
We were tired of coming back to England and just running around visit family and friends so decided to take a vacation (I hate being at home with no family around at Xmas and disney took our minds off that)
thanks for confirming the ADR's I had to call the 1st day free dining and I was one of the lucky ones in not having issues with the lines. I added Raglan last minute as i need that bit of home - fish and chips here i come :woohoo:

Tuesday!
We stayed at Port Orleans for breakfast and used the food court again. I really wanted beignets but we thought we should use some counter service credits up! So I ordered the waffle and Tony ordered the pancakes. The pancakes came with bacon, and I had strawberries with my waffle (I like to try have at least one portion of fruit a day!!!!).:rotfl:
I wasn’t looking forward to this to be honest, I thought it was going to be quite dry, but it was lovely. Really fresh and light, and strawberries covered in maple syrup really are very passable! Nice sized portion as well. I gave this 9/10! Tony gave the pancakes 8/10 and says they were light and fresh . . . he only gave the bacon 1/10 saying it was fatty and inedible!! We can’t bear streaky bacon, it’s all fat!!! Here they are

Mid-morning we got a bit peckish so thought we would share something. We were near Sunshine Seasons (we were in Epcot, by the way!). There was SO much choice on the bakery counter, took a good 5 minutes to choose! Went for the Key Lime Pie in the end. This was just OK. The base was very nice, and the meringue topping was nice, but I didn’t like the actual pie filling. It was more like lime mousse, than the usual key lime pie filling. Not much substance to it! I seem to remember Tony liked it, but he hasn’t written his comments down so I will get him to come on here and comment later!
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020291.jpg
Lunch! Very excited about this – trying Le Cellier for the first time. We purposely booked lunch as we’re not massive steak fans but really wanted to try the place we had heard so much about . . . I know it’s not popular to “waste” table service meals on lunch, but the lunch menu just appealed to us more.
We got in about 10 minutes after our ADR time. First of all I was really surprised by the size – I have heard loads of people commenting on how small it was so I was expecting something Beaches n Cream size!! It’s not quite that bad! But man do they cram the tables in! The man at the next table’s elbows was virtually on my plate at some points. And while on the subject of the tables next door – on one side we had a couple who literally never said a word to each other all through the meal and were having a good listen in to our chat; on the other side a family of 4 who saw fit to comment and laugh every time I took a picture of my meal :headache::rolleyes2! I was getting really annoyed with them by the end – I had the great urge to shout out “Do you Dis?”, just to see the puzzled looks on their faces !
Anyhow, on with the review!!! I had planned what I was having – I was going to go with the three course menu which you can use as a dining credit, just so I could try the famous cheddar cheese soup. But when we got here I really wanted the filet steak (mainly because it comes with mushroom risotto which I adore). So Tony agreed to have the three course menu so we could share the soup – yey!!!!
This is the only picture I have of the bread –sorry! I didn’t love any of the breads, they were all OK, nothing stunning! We ate them all though, and Tony certainly seemed to like them (again Tony, you seem to have missed this off your review sheet – I knew I should have been checking it each night!).
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020299.jpg
Then the soup arrived – this was GOOD. Cheesy, creamy and loads of bacon. I only gave this 8/10, not sure why! Tony gave it 10/10.
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020300.jpg
On to entrees; I ordered the Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon (with wild mushroom risotto, white truffle and herb butter sauce) cooked medium well and Tony went for the shaved Prime Rib sandwich (toasted ciabatta with cheddar cheese, sautéed onion and horseradish cream sauce). He gave this 7/10 – sandwich was just OK but the fries were excellent. I had a fry and they were really good – more like proper British chunky chips!!
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020302.jpg
On to my meal! The risotto was superb – I have a huge thing for risotto and this was just excellent – I could have had a whole bowl of it. Creamy and cooked to perfection - I gave it 10/10. The steak I gave 9/10 to – it was tender and had a lovely chargrilled flavour. Tony tried a bit of my steak and gave it 10/10 – best steak he had even had apparently!
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020301.jpg
Dessert time (you know we had room!!). I talked Tony into trying the chocolate mousse as I really wanted to see it! Well he wasn’t very happy with me!! He didn’t think much of it, saying it was “dull” and a bit bland. I tried it and thought it wad a slightly strange flavour, not great. He gave it 6/10.
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020304.jpg
I ordered the maple crème brulee - I love me some crème brulee!! Again though, this was only OK, I found the maple flavour a bit overpowering, and it was burned so badly in places that the after taste was quite bitter. Only 6/10.
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020306.jpg
All in all an excellent meal though – I wouldn’t go back for the desserts, but I certainly would for everything else! Our server was very friendly as well, though took ages coming with the cheque at the end.
Now I am a little embarrassed by this next entry – I can only put it down to stress (we had to spend the rest of the afternoon taking our hire car back as that had now developed a problem!). All I know is apparently we had room for something else to eat, even after a three-course lunch, as I seem to have a trip to Ghiradeli’s on my food-notes! In our defence we did just share one!! We went for our favourite from last year – the Mint Bliss (one scoop of mint icecream and one of chocolate ice-cream, dark chocolate fudge sauce – which we replace with “normal” fudge sauce- whipped cream and a mint chocolate). This was so good! Is there any better combination than mint and chocolate?! I gave this 9/10. Tony hasn’t commented again, so will have to update you himself!! You would think he wasn’t enjoying having to write a food review in bed every night before he was allowed to sleep!!!
For some reason I failed to get a picture of this, so this is last years!
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/CIMG2815-1.jpg
It gets worse on the piggy front. We then went to Goofys to get a make your own snack (which I swear we put in the fridge and didn’t even touch until the next day!!)! I was a little disappointed to see they no longer have crushed up Reese’s cups, they now have Reese’s pieces instead. More disappointment when I saw the choc chips are no longer mixed chocolates, they are all dark chocolate now (more of the choc chip situation when I get to our second visit next week!!). I was game though and so ordered my favourite combo from last year – marshmallows, dunked in milk chocolate, rolled half in Reese’s and half in choc chips, then drizzled in caramel. To be honest I was a tiny bit disappointed – the Reese’s pieces made it so much harder to bite in to as they were so crunchy. I miss the ooey gooeyness of the cups! It was OK (7/10) but I wouldn’t order them again. Tony ate most of this though and seemed to really enjoy it!

http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020430.jpg
Tony has a Mickey rice crispie head in milk chocolate, rolled in oreo crumbs and choc chips, and drizzled in caramel. He says “it was good, think it was a mistake to refrigerate it, as it went rock solid so quite painful to eat in the end. 8/10”.

Dinner, and another new place for us – T-Rex. Now we had no expectations of the food being good (after a vile meal in Rainforest Café in LA a couple of years ago) but we really wanted to see the dinosaurs and the meteor showers! So we planned this meal on a day when we would be having a large lunch, so we could just have a one course dinner, just to see the effects inside!
This is the outside - not a very good shot I'm afraid, and none of my inside dinosaur ones really came out! Sorry!
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020330.jpg
We got straight in at our reservation time (that never happens at RFC either!!) and went into a large room (not sure of the name of it, wasn’t the blue ice room).
There was actually quite a lot we fancied on the menu, so we decided to share a couple of things. We started with a couple of drinks – Tony had a Caveman Punch which he saw the pretty picture of on the outside of the menu and just ordered! Only after he had ordered did he see what it actually was – rum, banana liquor, peach schnapps, and fruit juice - he had thought it was a fruit punch going by the picture! “Strong” is a slight under-exaggeration!!! 7/10 and just lucky we weren’t driving!
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020338.jpg
I had a smoothie where you could pick from loads of different ingredients – I took a piccie so you can see the choices available
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020336.jpg
– I went for Reese’s pieces with chocolate sauce! More a dessert than a drink, didn’t help my thirst at all, a bit sickly – BUT very good!!!!!!!! 8/10! :rotfl:
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020337.jpg
You can see I already had my sweater on - air con was freezing! be warned!
We had a lovely server, very friendly and knowledgeable and she brought us some extra plates to share on. We had ordered the Red Earth Rigatoni (Rigatoni simmered with Italian sausage, caramelized onions and mushrooms in a red wine tomato sauce) which came with garlic bread, and the Gigantosauras Burger (Two burgers piled high with onion rings, lettuce, tomato and cheese), which came with waffle fries. We also added bacon to the burger!
Half the burger!

Pasta
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020340.jpg
Other half of burger with some pasta - look at the size of those burgers!!
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020341.jpg
As I mentioned we really weren’t expecting much of the food, but we really, really enjoyed it. The pasta was really flavoursome and fresh – we both gave it 8/10. The burger was lovely, really moist and tasty and just what we fancied. Waffle fries were also very good. Be warned – portions are HUGE. We didn’t even nearly finish! Food wise this place was far superior to RFC, and I would return. Theme-wise though we prefer RFC and the tropical storms and the chimps screaming! To be honest you could barely tell when the meteor storm happened here - the room doesn’t go nearly as dark as at RFC, and I didn’t hear any dinosaurs roaring! Would definitely return though!:thumbsup2
Up Next . . . another foodcourt breakfast, Cookes of Dublin and California Grill.

Please tell me you're joking that they don't have crushes reese's cup in Goofy's anymore?! How will I crunch through reese's pieces?!
When you posted the photo of the smoothie menu in T Rex I automatically chose peanut butter cups and chocolate syrup (mentally of course!) and laughed when I saw you'd chosen the exact same thing! Have you tried the Peanut Butter Cup milkshake in 50s Prime Time? If you haven't - you must!!
That burger looks absolutely awesome and huge!

Thank you for the T-Rex review! I feel better about our ADR in a couple of weeks. I am still having a tough time since I'd really like to try EOS but would have to give up T-Rex to do it. I guess I'll have to keep it since it is DS's big request. We have Akershus and 1900 Park Fare for DD so Fare is fair after all. Glad to hear the food is good, though!
I'm actually glad to hear Le Cell (desserts) weren't the best - just for selfish reasons, not for you two. I tried and tried to get this ADR but no luck. Hearing the raves all of the time just made that failure worse. If the desserts aren't top drawer, then I can feel better with missing it. Dessertie girl here.

Wonderful report! I just love the mushroom risotto too. I love their steak but I think I like the risotto even more! I too was very disappointed that the PB cups were taken away from Goofy's. We were so looking forward to be able to use our snack credits at Goofy and have those wonderful pretzel's rolled in the crushed PB cups. We were so upset when we saw they were off the list that we didn't get anything, and walked out!!! We did come back later in the trip and got pretzel's and a mickey rice crispy treat but it just was not the same!!!

Wow! I finally caught up. so much updates in just a day. LOL! I have to admit I prefer the boneless wings too. I like that they aren't so messy. They usually cost more though.
I had a bad experience at Goofys this past March. They were so slow and the guy just didn't make them the way I wanted.
They were good, but he put them in a bag (pretzle rods) and they stuck to the bag so badly I had to peel the paper off.

I just completed my Trip Report- I had wanted to do more of a food review because we did Deluxe Dining and tried so many wonderful places- but it was so hard getting all the pics of the food and not just eating it.. LOL (Half of my pictures are of almost empty plates! ;))

I'm so glad you're back with another FOOD report! I lvoed last years and you're already off to a great start.
I was very upset when I ordered my Goofy's pretzels and it came back with the peices instead of the crushed cups :( I didn't even notice when I filled out the form that it said cups. I opened the box and was so sad. (Didn't stop me from eating them though!)
Also, a comment on the Buffalo Wings. I am from Buffalo and there was a lot of controversy about a shortage on chicken wings. I imagine that, combined with costs and health reasons, have caused many places to switch to boneless wings. I agree they are different if you are truly looking for wings those are not wings! But they are tasty in their own right!

Sonya - as I mentioned on the cruise we did get the rice krispy treat on based on your review. We stuck it in our fridge at OKW and when we took it out we couldn't even cut it with our plastic knife. We let it sit out for a couple of hours and we were able to use a plastic fork to break off hunks. It was AMAZING!!! We didn't get the drizzle of carmel because I wasn't sure it wouldn't be the runny kind and I like firm carmel.
We never made it to Ghiradelli but the mint/chocolate sundae is my favorite as well. Hmmm, may have to figure out how to get Jim to take us to Tony Romas for dinner and then drive to SF for dessert.

I need to remember to never read your Dining Report when I have chocolate cravings. I have already consumed the Reese's Pieces from the FE (thanks whoever left those) and have gotten into the kid's chocolate. Now I need to figure out what else I can go nibble but gosh darn it, no more Reese's!

Orginally for South East, Essex.
Xmas is awesome at Disney. The weather I would say similar to UK Summer in the 70's quite chilly (for me) in the morning I wear a light sweater jacket but by 9.30am or so I was in just shorts and t-shirts no need for jacket in evening.
thanks for confirming the ADR's I had to call the 1st day free dining and I was one of the lucky ones in not having issues with the lines. I added Raglan last minute as i need that bit of home - fish and chips here i come :woohoo:

Just caught up again. :goodvibes
Christmas at WDW = :santa::cloud9:!!! We've visited twice during the holiday season (1999/2000 and 2004/5) and I would like to visit again at that time in the future. :hippie: The weather can be changeable (and remember, this is coming from a Scots lass used to 4 seasons in a day) but makes touring the busy parks more manageable. :thumbsup2
And re: the Gigantasaurus burger at T-Rex - that is not a menu "embellishment" - the thing is ma-husive!!! My DH loves a decent burger, but he really struggled with that one. :upsidedow

Tuesday 5th May
We started off with another hotel breakfast – bit dull for you, sorry! Breakfasts do get a bit more exciting soon!
So we had beignets and cereal again – and they were lovely again! You can’t go wrong with these puffed pieces of heaven! Tony was a 10/10 and I was a 9!
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020347.jpg
Mid morning we had some popcorn at DHS – this wasn’t as good as usual. It seemed a bit dry and less buttery – definitely a bit of a let down. We both give it 7/10.
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020362.jpg
As we were having a very late lunch we then had time for an ice-cream from the belly of Dino Gertie! Always a favourite stop of ours. We shared the choc and vanilla swirl. This was lovely and refreshing, but the ice-cream was a bit too icy – too many ice crystals had formed! Still, nice and I give it 8/10. Tony is a 7!
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020372.jpg
On to lunch at Cookes of Dublin at DTD. I had been dying to go here forever – we had to miss our lunch here last year when a rogue Tonga Toast put my stomach out of action ! I ordered the mini battered sausages and chips, and Tony went for fish and chips. Dessert wise she told us we could have anything off the menu (we were on the dining plan). I asked for the mini donuts . . . NOPE, they are not on the dining plan. Is it me?! There wasn’t much choice in the dessert line, so I went for the snickers ice-cream, and Tony went for the Doh Bar (deep fried snickers bar!!). They are happy to hold the desserts until you have finished eating your meal, so you don’t have to sit there with an ice-cream melting over you!
Now I’m not one to moan . . . but they had the doors propped open (don’t know why as the air con was working) but because of this the place had loads of flies buzzing around. Luckily I had my anti-bac wipes and much to Tony’s horror insisted on wiping the table down before we started eating:rotfl:! It was very empty in here, with just one other table occupied, so you will always be able to get a table here at lunchtime should you want to!
The meals took less than 5 minutes to be ready. We both agreed the chips were nice – fresh and chunky. Tony’s fish was quite nice; it was fresh enough and cooked well, but not the best ever. But the battered sausages – oh dear!! They were “slightly” overcooked – the batter was literally rock hard to bite in to. So much so that it scraped the flesh off the roof of my mouth and it was days before it healed and I could eat without pain again! I tried to dig a couple of sausages out of the batter to try them, but the rock hard batter was too much of a challenge for the plastic cutlery, so I gave up. They were training a new cook up, so - being kind - I think I may have got his first attempt at sausages and they are probably not usually that bad – but I wouldn’t have them again!!!

The snickers ice-cream was nice – huge serving – but by now I was starting to get a bit snickered out, after having it in some form at most of my meals so far, so I only ate a bit! Tony’s doh-bar was nice – better than I remembered from last year. He took it off the stick, covered it with my ice-cream, and ate them both together! A little sickly, but he seemed to like it:lmao:! I give the whole meal 6/10, and Tony 8/10. I would try it again one day - just not the sausages! To be fair if you fancy fish and chips without heading over to Epcot then this does the job just fine.

On to dinner – and I had been waiting for this one!! Our first trip to California Grill! We had a 7.30 ADR which I was hoping we could stretch out to Wishes at 9pm! Arrived at 7.30 and were told there would be a bit of a wait, so we went to the bar. I was pleased about the wait as it would help us get nearer to Wishes. Well no sooner had the drinks arrived than our buzzer went! Now I was praying for a table that overlooked MK but I hadn’t requested anything in particular – I like to leave it to fate. So we are walking through the restaurant and there was a table for 4 free, overlooking MK . . . well no way would we be lucky enough for a large table and a view I thought . . . well DING DONG that’s where she led us! I was so excited! I spent about 10 minutes explaining in great detail to poor Tony how incredibly lucky we were :rotfl2:! I was a little surprised by the inside of the restaurant – I had thought this would be a quiet, intimate place – instead it was massive, brightly lit, and as loud as any other Disney restaurant! This didn’t affect us though, and my photo taking was definitely less obvious than I had thought it was going to be!
This was our view!
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020406.jpg
We had a very nice server – not overly chatty, but very efficient and polite. First she brought out some soda bread which was gorgeous – really soft and warm. Loved it!
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020415.jpg
Now believe it or not I really had to force Tony into an appetiser; there was nothing he liked the sound of, but I really wanted a long, relaxing night here so in the end he said he would try something. He went for the duck confit and he LOVED it – he said it was really tender and tasty. I tried a bit and it was good. He gives it 9/10. I can't find a description for it online, but I know it had pasta with it as well. I went for the spring vegetable salad as it included goat’s cheese and asparagus – two of my favourite things. That was also very nice; - the dressing was superb - though I could have done with a tiny bit more goat’s cheese – another 9/10.

Spring vegetable salad
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020417.jpg
For entrée Tony went for the filet steak, with mash and asparagus (I mentioned before we are not that much into steak, but my one at Le Cellier yesterday, which he had deemed the world’s best steak, had wetted his appetite for it). Well, move over Le Cellier, because he now rates THIS as the “world best steak ever! Moist, tender and tasty”, and a resounding 10/10! He even loved the asparagus, and he will never eat that at home :sad2:
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020420.jpg
I went for the pork tenderloin, served with mash and button mushrooms. To be honest when it first came the portion looked a bit small – but there was loads of meat once I got going and I couldn’t even finish it all! The pork was really moist and tasty, and the mash was excellent. I give this 9/10.
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020419.jpg
Now before we went away I had decided I wanted to arrange a surprise for Tony . . . and with us two it had to be food! So I arranged a cake to be brought out (chocolate frosting and chocolate filling!!). I couldn’t think of a message, so I just signed it from our dogs (I thought this might reduce him to a flood of tears, but no such luck!!). At this point the server brought it out! We just shared a slice and asked for the rest to be boxed up. It was nice enough – I was hoping it would be like our wedding cake which was the moistest cake EVER! It wasn’t quite that good, but was OK, and Tony tucked in to it in the room over the next couple of days.
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020422.jpg
The server probably thought we wouldn’t want dessert after that :rolleyes1but we soon explained we weren’t amateur eaters and so the menus appeared! I knew what I was going for “The Original” – (Butterscotch crème brulee with a duo of banana cakes and caramelised bananas). Tony had “Sweet Celebration” – Cashew nut dacquoise cake with roasted with poached pears, berries, lychee cream and ginger caramel ice cream

Creme Brulee
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020425.jpg
Mine came with two banana breads which were good – very moist and bananary! One was chocolately which was good, but I actually preferred the plainer one. The crème brulee was Ok . . . whilst there was nothing wrong with it, it didn’t knock me off my feet with joy. I gave this 8/10 as there was nothing wrong with it, but I probably wouldn’t order it again to be honest. Tony gave his 8/10, and again said it was good, but he wouldn’t have it again. As we were eating them, Wishes came on, so it was perfect!
We both give the meal 9/10 as a whole. This was our first “signature” meal, and we were very impressed. I would happily come here again, but equally may try one of the other signature restaurants instead next year instead!
Up next . . . Port Orleans breakfast AGAIN, Wolf Gang Puck Express lunch, Ohanas dinner, and a few snacks!

I guess now we know why you can always find a table at Cookes of Dublin!
The California Grill is one of our favorite restaurants. We are starting our trip with it the first night. :worship: We have been going to Disney since our kids were 5 and 8. Now they are 28 and 30 and we are going to take another trip with them this summer. As we usually do, I ask each one to choose a restaurant. Now that they are adults their tastes have changed and we now have ressies at Jiko, Blue Zoo, Narcoosee's and California Grill, among others. You'd think it was the food and wine festival. I am enjoying your reviews....keep them coming.

Ok, now that I am a good 5lbs heavier just from reading your report -- better get to bed!
I can't wait to read the next installment!
Well I need to fatten you up, after you only put 1lb on on the cruise!!!!:goodvibes
oooh, very late to the party, but at least I made it! Loved your last food report, had me drooling for days! btw, you look gorgeous in your dress on page 1, and your feet are not boats (i wear an american 9 euro 41; so I know a boat when I see one) anyway, back to the foodpopcorn::popcorn::

Wow, TRex does look good.
I think you've helped finalize my decision to not do the DDP on my October trip but instead to try some of the places not included on the DDP - like TRex and off site Tony Romas.
I think I would only do DDP again if it was free, as we like a little more freedom usually! Don't forget Cheesecake Factory if you are heading off-site!
Subscribing-I love your reviews so far!
Yay! I read your last trip report and LOVED it. I have been waiting for this. popcorn::
Thank you both!
AHEM! .....Excuse me!!! Get back to posting!! I can't wait to hear more!!! (And I am dying to get to the cruise portion!) :worship: you are one of the best reviewers ever!!:thumbsup2
I agree with all post above!!!
Especially the 'get posting' one! ;)
Aghhh pressure!! I'm on it!!:rotfl:
:upsidedow
OK - so where we dining next? :confused3
Thanks for the Christmas tips!:thumbsup2
No its not an embellishment, is it?! I think both of us could have feasted on that, without the pasta dish, and still came out stuffed!
Subbing, now to go back and read the report from the beginning. :thumbsup2

Hey everyone, sorry I haven't been on hand to add my comments, I have been busy doing work around the house thanks to Sonya! I have a day off today so it has given me chance to catch up!
I wanted to comment on the Goofy's MYO treats - so disappointing this year! I only hope they bring back the good stuff! (i.e. the Reeses cup pieces!).
Also I had forgotten about the annoying people next to us in Le Cellier - Sonya got upset bless her so I took the photos in the end, I kept staring at them after a while, as they were being so rude! PS the bread in there was very nice - lots of bread to chomp on before the main event, which I never complain about :lmao: and it was very fresh.
T-Rex - best burger ever (apart from B&C, obviously) but not much atmosphere like Sonya said.
I promise to keep up with the report from now on so I can add my comments to the mighty PHP celebrity food report :worship:

Sorry again about the delays, this has just been a manic week at work! Will answer all your kind posts tomorrow! For now, on with the show!!
Well here we were, awake, and would you believe hungry again?!!!! :lmao:
We were going to try Earl of Sandwiches breakfast this morning, but, well to be honest, couldn't be bothered – a sandwich just never feels that appealing first thing in the morning! So food court at POFQ it was again!!! Tony had pancakes which he gives 9/10 to as they were very fresh. I had waffles with raspberries, which again was very light and fresh - another 9/10! I just love these things -can't believe I had never had one before this visit!
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020431.jpg
Mid-morning was one of our favourite treats in the universe! Water park mini-donuts (Blizzard Beach this year)! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm-liscious! We got 6 to share, and the best news of all was the cinnamon sugar was back on the menu this year. These are SO good. Is anything better when you are starving than hot, fresh donuts?! I give these 10/10, Tony gives them 8 (he was really grumpy at this point which I feel affected his judgment!).
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020432.jpg
Is it me or does the top one look like a mickey head?!
Off to a new place to us for lunch – Wolfgang Puck Express. I have been dying to go here after seeing several excellent reviews. Huge menu to pick from which was good! I was surprised by how empty the place was – it was about 1.30pm and there were only two other tables occupied! The staff here were all really friendly and helpful. You order at the counter, and then (although it’s counter-service) someone else brings you cutlery, your meal, and re-fills your drinks.
We decided to share two pizzas - Pepperoni and Mushroom (mozzarella and Grana Padano Paremesan with tomato-basil garlic sauce) and Four Cheese Pesto (creamy goat cheese, mozzarella, fontina and Parmesan with Roma tomatoes, fresh basil, garlic-basil pesto sauce and sun dried tomatoes). Tony picked a cookie for dessert, and I went for a brownie (I had been planning on trying one of their famous – thanks to Dizneeat! – crème brulees, but I couldn’t face it after the two not-so-good ones I had already had this trip.
I really, really enjoyed these pizzas. They were good sizes, and the ingredients were really fresh. The bases were crisp and light as well. The cheese pizza had so much lovely pesto on it! I preferred the pepperoni one but it was close! Pepperoni and mushroom gets 9/10, and Four Cheese gets 8/10. I didn’t eat the brownie straight away – I think I had half of it the next day. It was OK, fairly moist but not the best I’ve ever had. Tony really liked the pepperoni one and gave it 9/10; he wasn’t quite so keen on the cheese and gave it 7. He said the cookie was just average and gave it 7/10.

http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020438.jpg
On to dessert at our favourite – Ghirardelli’s!!! We decided to just share one again – such self control! – and after about a 20 minute debate finally settled on the Warm Caramel Sundae - Two scoops of premium vanilla ice cream layered with warm Ghirardelli creamy caramel and topped with whipped cream, chopped almonds, a cherry and our famous chocolate with caramel square. This was SOOOOOOOO good. Ooey gooey caramel sauce all melting over creamy ice-cream. Our only complaint was they were a little light handed when service the actual caramel sauce – we needed more of the good stuff! I was 9/10 and Tony was 9.5/10.
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020443.jpg
Dinner was at Ohanas – somewhere else we have never been. I have wanted to go here for ages, but had to beg and plead to get Tony to agree. Let me start by explaining – he doesn’t like turkey, not keen on steak, broccoli is dull, wings are only OK etc - all I could do was promise him that if he came out hungry we could head straight off to Pop Century for a chilli cheese dog;). This was finally enough to get him to let me make an ADR (I was always going to make one this year, but it was so much easier to get him to drive us there this way!!).:rotfl:
We had to wait about 20 minutes for our table, which gave me the change to try something I have been drooling over for ages – a Lapu Lapu – tropical fruit juice, dark rum and Bacardi all served in a pineapple. Call me a lightweight but this was way too strong for me. I only had half of it and could barely walk straight when we finally got called to our table!
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020475.jpg
The first food to arrive was the salad (Mixed greens with a honey-lime dressing)– is it wrong that we really loved the salad?! The dressing was so good! We cleaned the bowl out!
Next was the bread – I thought it was supposed to be pineapple flavoured, but I couldn’t taste any – it was nice though!
Bread and salad
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020480.jpg
Next were the Honey-Coriander Chicken Wings – proper wings with BONES in – woo hoo! These were really tender – I prefer hot wings, but these were good.
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020481.jpg
Then we had the pork dumplings with three dipping sauces – one was hot, one was peanut – I don’t remember the third sauce but we enjoyed them all, especially the hot one. I confess I had never had pork dumplings before and I absolutely loved these – could have eaten another plateful.
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020482.jpg
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020484.jpg
Then we had broccoli – not much to say about broccoli. I think we had a floret each to try claim we had at least had one vitamin today!
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020486.jpg
The noodles then arrived – I have heard great things about the Ohana potatoes, and wish I had managed to try them, but to be honest really enjoyed the noodles. I love noodles at the best of time, and these were really well flavoured, and because they are lighter than potatoes I think it helped me manage to eat a lot more!!!!
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020485.jpg
Then the meat started arriving! We said we didn’t want shrimp (we don't like any shellfish), which seemed to surprise them. We were actually going to try it, until we saw you had to peel your own – YUCK! I can’t be spending my night pulling little corpses apart!
The grilled Pork Loin was really good and moist, as was the Grilled Tenderloin of Turkey. The Sirloin Steak was lovely as well – the grill gave all the meats a lovely smoky flavour and kept it all really tender. I have just noticed Hawaiian Sausage on the menu, but I don’t think we got any of that. I had really enjoyed everything we had had so far . . . so what of Tony who didn’t want to come? He LOVED it – even the turkey which he always claims to hate! He ate everything that came (including the wings, much to my annoyance!).

http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020487.jpg
Still to come was dessert - Ohana bread pudding served a la mode with Bananas and Caramel Sauce. I hate bread pudding – even the one at Raglan Road which people seem to rave about tasted grim to me last year. Well it was a night for surprises because I just ADORED this – the best part of the whole meal! Really sweet, light, with lovely sauce, and really good with the ice-cream. I give the pudding 10/10, and the rest of the meal 8.5/10. Much better than I was expecting, and would definitely return. Tony says the meat was good, and tender, and the dessert was very light. He gave it all 8/10 which is very good when you think of how negatively he went into the meal!
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020489.jpg
My only complaints about this night were the speed the food comes out. We were in and out in an hour! It’s certainly not relaxing. And talking of not relaxing, the “entertainment” left something to be desired! If that woman with her little guitar thing (ukulele?) had wondered past screeching just one more time I think I would have lobbed my lovely bread pudding at her! :rotfl:
Coming next . . . Captain Cookes, Market St Café in Celebration, 50’s Prime Time Café.

Thanks for the update! We love the noodles at 'Ohana - hope they're still part of the plan in two weeks when we eat there. We have had the potatoes - not the greatest.
I don't like being rushed, and my DH has actually told our server to bring things out slowly. I think they just want to flip tables as quickly as possible. And, yes, the entertainment can be grating...but there are A LOT of DISers that adore Lipoa (I think that's her name) - the ukelele player.
We go to 'Ohana for the food and for the chance to hang out at the Polynesian. Kona Cafe is really good - have you ever tried it?
Thanks again for taking the time to post!!! :goodvibes

Great Reviews. O'hana's is on my list to try on our next trip.
I love the MYO treats at Goofy's and was soooooo disappointed in Jan. when there were no Reese's PB cup pieces. I was hoping it was just a temporary thing, but if you guys didn't have them either, maybe the change is permanent. Oh well, change is good, right?????

Turkey and pork (pork on the left)
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020487.jpg
WOW how good does that Sundae look!:thumbsup2 (yes folks, I am the fool who didnt see the sundae's on the back of the menu...we were first timers, so can be forgiven...:rolleyes1)
Great review hun, I like the look of the brownie and the noodles look yummy! looking forward to morepopcorn::

Ok -- all caught up! We had ADRs at Ohana our last night but it was a really really late time so we cancelled and ate in our room. I wish we could have made it there. Maybe next time! I think the drink Lapu Lapu? looks fantastic!!!!
I am still amazed at how you both eat all that food and are so nice and trim. Maybe in 2012 Sabrina can keep up?!?!
Keep the reviews coming -- it is making me want to go back to WDW now!

That lupa lupa was too strong for me to. I asked them to water it down for me and they did. They brought the pineapple back and another huge glass where they had made two drinks out of it to make it weaker. Do you know it was still too strong for me. I only drank half.

OMG you poor girl I can't believe those sausages! They looked just awful, I can't believe they cut up the top of your mouth!!:scared1: I have rarely sent anything back..but those would have gone back to the kitchen!
!!
For some reason I didn't even think of sending them back! :confused3 I must be crazy!!
Wow you have got some great restaurants lined up!! We definitely want to try another signature meal next year. Have a great trip!
Great update!! Glad you got such a perfect table at CG, I'm sure it more than made up for the rock hard sausages!! :)
Can't wait to hear about WPE and Ohana!
It did, I soon forgot my pain!:rotfl:
I am so glad that you enjoyed your CG experience. It is our favorite restaurant in WDW so far.:thumbsup2
We loved it!:goodvibes
Wow! You sure lucked out with that Cali Grill view - I don't think it could have been more perfect! I love that you left it to fate, but I don't think I could have been so restrained - I'm just sure I wouldn't be able to resist begging for a MK view table! My hat is off to you!
We were so lucky - It almost makes me not want to go back again, in case it wasn't as perfect! The only time I ever requested something, was a certain area at Caribbean Beach resort a few years ago, and we ended up so far from everywhere else that I swore never to request anything ever again!!!!!
Great view at CG! Did you happen to get any photos of the fireworks?
Not that night, we watched Wishes again the next night fromt he beach at Polynesian, and took all our photo's then!
How lucky to get a great view and long enough meal to enjoy wishes! Your meals look so yummy (besides the sausages) :goodvibes
The suasages were the low point of the whole trip, so we didn't do too bad!
We did Norcoosees for our anniversary dinner and after seeing your picture I wish we had done California Grill! Much better view of the castle and you didn't have to stand outside to watch them.
Very cool!
Oh what was Narcoosees like? I'd like to try there!
Ok, I will admit, the Cali Grill has never tempted me before but now it's on my must-do list!! I have to get me some of that moist and bananary dessert!!
LOVIN' your reviews and can't wait for the next installment popcorn::
I think you would like it! Thanks for the nice comments!
More, please!
I love your attitude, your writing style, and you and your husband (and puppies!) are adorable.
Thanks for the reviews!
Ah thank you!!:goodvibes
What a great view you had at Cali Grill. I'd love to eat there someday. I think after reading your reviews, I might have to start taking pics of my food at WDW!
Oh yes please do! The more people that do it, the less I will stand out!!:rotfl:
Great review... I'm looking forward to seeing more!
Thanks!:goodvibes
Great TR! Wow did you get a great view without even requesting it.
I know!!
I really have to stop eating these food reviews when I've not had my dinner. I'm drooling on my computer.
Great job...can't wait for the next installment.
Thanks! Should be up tomorrow!
As for the food, it looked delicious as always, but unless you specifically wanted mashed potatoes with your pork, I believe you actually had the polenta, no?
Thanks for the wonderful food porn. :cloud9:
Well I was deliberately a little vague around that subject . . . I know I told Tony I was going to request "normal" mash, but I don't remember actually doing it! And all I wrote on my report was "great mash"!! :confused3 We will never know . . .!!

Hope it all calms down soon and you get some time to chill. :)
Oh its been a nightmare - the other lady in my office was off all last week, and this next week, so I am suffering!! We are chilling with a nice bar-b-q tonight though ast home!
Great post on the California Grill :thumbsup2
Glad you're enjoying it! :goodvibes
Wahooooo!!! Just stumbled upon your latest dining reviews, and I'm so pleased! Your last dining reviews were some of my favourites ever - and not just because your DH looks like Jake Gyllenhaal!! :goodvibes
Also, I'm a big fan of anybody who used the word, "bananary"!
:woohoo:
:rotfl: I forgot about that comparison!! He quite liked that!
I may have to use the word "scrummy-liscious" at some point as well! :rotfl:
Oh Sonya dear I finally found your food report and just got done catching up on all the posts. You amaze me at how much you and Tony are able to eat, yet how fit you all look! You lucky things.
I can't wait to see more!
Hi Lynsey - I am LOVING your trip report!! :goodvibes
Sorry about the sausages...they do look pretty gross! Glad your CG experience was good though, your view is awesome!:thumbsup2
I never knew sausages could be so evil!!!!
Hey you - great review yet again - I love the cake and what a wonderful view! Lucky you:woohoo: Hope work calms down for you and see you Saturday!xx
Oh no - we forgot to take food porn pictures of our lunch yesterday!! :rotfl: It was great seeing you all
Just caught up on your report...fabulous!!!! :goodvibes
You guys are such a cute couple :cutie::cutie::cutie:
Thanks for sharing your food adventures with us :thumbsup2
Ah, thank you!!

I'm hoping that work today wasn't too rough and maybe we'll get another FABULOUS update?
It was a little late . . . I will try harder this week!!
Hi Sonya & Tony!!
It was so fun meeting you guys on the Magic!! I only wish we could have hung out more! We'll just have to make up for it in 2012!!
Just caught up on your food report. You guys are so cute! Can't wait to read more! BTW, here in So Cal, we have Tony Roma's everywhere. Gus and I eat there every few months or so. The ribs are pretty ribalicious!! lol.
Chasity (& Gus)
It was great meeting you!! Yey to 2012 - it will be here very quickly!
SO lucky on the Tony Romas! We tried the one just outside Disneyland in 2007 - yummo!
Sign me up :) Sonya and Tony, you guys are way too adorable  Your reviews are aweome, keep them coming
I'm glad you are enjoying them!
What is it about men and O'hana's? We have eaten here once or twice, but both dh and ds have asked we not go back. They didn't complain while they were stuffing their faces!
I agree about being fairly rushed too. So glad to see another report. We certainly understand about hectic weeks. :donald:
I know! I don't get it either! Last year he totally refused to go here, and this year I really had to twist his arm! And then he goes and loves it!

Hope you have a nice peaceful weekend. :cutie:
Thank you! Such good weather here for a change! Its almost Florida-ish!
Thank you for your food reviews. I have an ADR at Ohanas and I can't with to try the bread pudding. Yum Yum.
That was SO good!!! I can't see how anyone couldn't love it!
Great update -- it was worth the wait!:goodvibes
We all hate bread pudding, too, but think that the dessert at 'Ohana is the BEST dessert at WDW! (It also doesn't hurt that you can ask for more if you want to ;)).
I'll be waiting for your next set of reviews!:)
NO I did not know I could ask for more! Sometimes I am such an amateur! Now we have to go back next year!!
:goodvibes
If we went again I would definitely ask for the food to come out a bit slower . . . and I promise to try appreciate Lipoa a little more as well! :thumbsup2
We have only been on Kona for breakfast before, but I would like to try it for dinner (or even lunch, on a break from the parks). That may be one of our new places next year!:thumbsup2
Ohana's looks great to me. Especially that drink. Yum!
That's a LOT of rum!!! :goodvibes
We love those doughnuts at Blizzard Beach too - we got a bag like you guys and polished them off in about 30 seconds! :rotfl:
Great Ohana's review mmmmm its making me hungry!:goodvibes
I honestly think they are the worlds best donuts!! You just need something like that after jumping over waves for 2 hours!!
We booked 'Ohana for our upcoming trip. Its our first time dining there and after reading your review, I am really excited now!!! That bread pudding looks sooo good!!!!! Also looking forward to the dumplings
You will love it!! :thumbsup2
We look forward to the mini donuts every trip!! I love to get mine with the raspberry sauce!!! Great, now I'm drooling all over myself! :rotfl:
Ohhh raspberry sauce?!! Now that is something I also need to try!!
Us too! I was going to try the dinner show but after this review I decided to try 'Ohana instead.
Well I haven't tried the dinner show, but I can highly recommend Ohana's!
Great report. Good reading while I'm in bed with the flu. I will read food reports while I'm bed ridden. Can't wait til our August trip.

Thanks for the continued food reviews. The pizza looks great, as always.

Great Reviews. O'hana's is on my list to try on our next trip.

No it seems to be permanent . . .:sad1: And I haven't even got to the mostt serious change yet, which we discovered on our second trip . . .
WOW how good does that Sundae look!:thumbsup2 (yes folks, I am the fool who didnt see the sundae's on the back of the menu...we were first timers, so can be forgiven...:rolleyes1)
:rotfl: Oh bless you, that was SO funny!
I love that you eat all this food (and then show us pictures of it :worship:). The Warm Caramel Sundae looks good..I've been planning on getting one on my next trip :cool1:
You can't go wrong with anything at Ghiredellis, but this one was especially good!!
Yummy update. So is Ohanas family style? I've never been there and really haven;t read to much about it. I think I mya give it a try some day.
Yes its family style, they bring it all out on plates for you to help yourself from, and the meat comes to you on skewers! You can request more of anything apparently (wish I had known that about the bread pudding before!).
Ok -- all caught up! We had ADRs at Ohana our last night but it was a really really late time so we cancelled and ate in our room. I wish we could have made it there. Maybe next time! I think the drink Lapu Lapu? looks fantastic!!!!

I am so with you! It nearly knocked me off my feet (though I am renound for being able to get tipsy on two sips of wine!!:rotfl:). I was supposed to go to a tequila tasting on the cruise, and didn't even dare go in the end for fear I would miss the rest of the trip!!!
ANOTHER INSTALLMENT UP TOMORROW . . . ALMOST DEFINITELY!! HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND EVERYONE!

You've convinced me -- a caramel sundae at Ghirardelli's it is! You and Aussie Angel have a way with the food reports -- I think perhaps Americans don't appreciate the goodness the way our visitors do (or maybe I need to work harder to discover more great TRs!)

Your reports are wonderful! I couldn't wait to read your Ohana report. My family of 4 is bringing a another family of 5 to WDW July 4th. And we are all going to Ohana for dinner. Even though I love it, I read more and more bad reports. If you and Tony enjoyed the food, I feel confident my guests will too. My plan was to give them a couple of pineapple drinks so they wouldn't be too annoyed by the ukelele. But I might have to rethink because that didn't work for you!! ;)

I'm so glad to hear someone with a positive experience at 'Ohana! It seems I've mostly heard negative things lately, and we really enjoyed our last trip there (in 2007). At first we thought the entertainer was a female impersonator, or at least, we weren't entirely sure! At any rate, it seemed as much a spoof as real! :rotfl:

Thursday 7th May
I fear I may have built your hopes up and promised you a non-POFQ breakfast today?! Well I was wrong! BUT, it is our last one for a few days! So hold on, there is hope!:goodvibes
However on this day we did yet again stick with the food court, this time sampling Special K and sharing a blueberry muffin. I don’t remember the muffin very well at all, but I have given it 9/10 and a “very moist” comment, and Tony gave it 8/10, so must have been OK!!
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020572.jpg
Mid-morning we were in MK, and decided to have a pretzel – we have NEVER had a fresh pretzel before! Hmmmm, kind of like eating a lump of bread! Filling and stodgy, but not exactly exciting!!!!! We both gave it 5/10.
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020607.jpg
Now we decided to spend the afternoon in the town of Celebration as we had never been there, and after reading a couple of good food comments on a UK trip report we knew we wanted lunch at Market St Café. The menu is huge and full of things we like! We had to wait about 15 mins for a table then in we went! It’s pretty large inside, and the service was OK – a little slow, but she was friendly enough!
Now for some reason, after months of eyeballing all the lovely sandwiches on the online menu, I decided to go for the Greek salad?! Sometime the crazy just strikes me. :crazy2:This was OK – huge portion (though a little bit mean on the feta cheese I thought) and the dressing was a bit on the sharp side for me. I’d give it 7/10. Tony went for a chicken salad sandwich – he didn’t enjoy it very much, mainly because there was fruit (craisins) mashed in with the chicken!!!. He only gave it 6/10. It was a little like that scene out of Friends, when Joey asks what all that “red fruit cr*p” is doing on his cheesecake – Tony was not happy! :rotfl:

Dessert was VERY good! We went for the coconut cream pie, and really regretted sharing! The pastry was lovely and crumbly, and there was absolutely loads of coconut cream which was really thick and yummy. We both give this 9/10. I would go here again, as there is so much on the menu I want to try. Maybe if we go next Christmas we could have dinner here before watching the “snow” fall!
Coconut cream pie
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm231/sonyagarland/P1020622.jpg
On the way back to the car Tony stopped at Kilwins Chocolate and Ice-cream shop – there was loads of really good looking ice-cream which almost made me regret the dessert we had just had! Tony just got a chocolate covered twinkie, and ate it the next day – “well it was refrigerated so not the best, but I will give it 9/10 as it was a stunning idea! Will buy another one when we go back, and have it at room temperature!”

And this is nothing to do with food, but we were having a little after-lunch nap in the big rocking chairs around the lake, and we saw a ‘gator!!!!!! No one believes us, but we did!!! :scared1:
So, on to one we had really been looking forward to this evening – 50’s Prime Time Café – one of our absolute favourite meals last year.

We only had to wait a couple of minutes for our table (a VAST improvement on last years 30 minutes), and got taken to a room at the back of the restaurant with just 3 other tables. Our sever was already in there . . . well right away we knew we were in for a night of it as she was busy telling someone off! Once she had finished we had to introduce ourselves to the rest of the room, after we had done this she then went back to this poor man! I can’t remember what he did but she made him stand against the wall for a while. Then before he was allowed to sit down again he was made to do the “I’m a teapot” song, with actions. Honestly she terrorised this man all night! It was SO funny! She was hilarious with all of us, but this poor man got most of the flack. It was most enjoyable!!!! She really made the meal to be honest – I thought last years server was good but she knocked her out of the park! Never have I been so terrified in case an elbow inadvertently touched the table though!
So onto the meal. Utter devastation ripped through my body when I discovered the fried herb cheese had been removed from the menu (why would they do that, why WHY?? :confused3), as I result I sulked and refused to have an appetiser!
Instead I ordered Mums Old Fashioned Pot Roast (slow cooked til fork tender, served with mashed potatoes, celery and onions), which Tony had last year and highly recommended to me.

Tony went for Aunt Liz’s Golden Fried Chicken (served with mask potato, chicken gravy and southern greens).

Mine was pretty good – absolutely loads of meat, and the mash was good and creamy. What let it down was the veg - they were really over cooked and dry – they were like paper. However I ate them all as I had one thing on my mind this year – a clean plate sticker.
And lookey what we have here!!!! You knew I could do it!

While this wasn’t quite as good as Tony’s Pot Roast last year, that is only due to the wrinkled up veg, so I would still recommend it for the rest of the meal – it gets 8/10. Yet again though, I ended up for the 2nd year running drooling over Tony’s plate! He gave me a piece of his chicken and I LOVED it. I should say that I love friend chicken at home, but my only experience of it in the US was a vile KFC last year, so I didn’t order it based on that. Well I wish I had! Really hot, fresh and crunchy! Tony gave it 8/10 and said it was good but a little greasy.
I was very excited to get to "use" the dessert menu this year, unlike last year!

On to desserts – I knew what I was having – the S’mores. Ohh perfection on a plate. Sickly perfection, but perfection all the same. These were excellent and get 9/10 – what more do you need than cracker, chocolate and marshmallow all melted together?! Why we don’t make these in the UK is beyond me!

Now I had a moment of greediness here (just the one Sonya?!) – I also ordered the peanut butter and jelly milkshake I had heard about . . . then I remembered Eeyore’s Tailfinders reviews from a couple of months ago, where she also ordered this and it sent her over the edge and she had to rush out of the restaurant or risk being unwell . . . well the s’mores were really sickly and I got a bit panicky about also being unwell. So I must confess I hardly drunk any of this – what I tried was good, just like drinking a snickers, which can never be wrong!
PB& Jelly - very thick!

Tony went for a strawberry milkshake, which was really good and fresh. He also ordered the Dads Brownie Sundae – brownie with vanilla ice-cream, hot fudge, and caramel topping – he loved it and gave it 9/10. I would like to comment but he didn’t let me have any of it!!!! Our server didn’t charge us for the milkshakes, bless her, she was so nice (though a tad scary!). She did bring the check with the desserts which annoys me a bit (makes me feel very rushed!) but I forgive her!

All in all it was a very enjoyable night, with consistently good food. I would eat here again definitely, however want to try Sci-Fi or Brown Derby next year, so will probably give it a miss for a year.
Coming up is Captain Cookes, Peco Bills, 1900 Park Faire, and Main St bakery!
