Anyone have a recipe for it? My plum tree has finally started producing and I am overrun with plums.

Most jelly recipes I've seen involve cooking the fruit til soft, draining overnight in a jelly bag then boiling with an equal amount of sugar (and possibly other ingredients) until setting point is reached.
But what you call jelly, we call jam;)
Try googling Women's Institute, or Delia Online for recipes. Or possible bbc.co.uk/food, or bbc.goodfood.com

Hi
we made a ton of it last year. I just compared a bunch of online recipies and we wung it. I pitted it before we boiled it. We left the lumps and chunks. I'll see if I can dig up the recipie

I pit the plums and grind them in a food processor until they are small pieces. I then cook them down with sugar. Sorry there isn't any recipe because the amount of sugar depends on how sweet the fruit is. Cooking the fruit down is a long process I've never have tried to speed up the process by adding pectin. I am a purest. The jam is done when it coates a spoon and holds together.
Make sure you follow the boiling water bath for sealing the jars.

If the jam has reached setting point, then over here we pot into warm sterilised jars (in a lowish oven for 1/2 hour or so) then either top with wax circles, then a cellophane circle when cold (with a rubber band to hold it on), or just screw on a normal metal lid - like the one the jar came with;) As long as you put the lid straight on, as the jam cools it will form a vacuum seal (the "pop up" buttons will go back in!) and keep really well in a cool, dark place (like a garage or cupboard) for many years.

Thank you for all your replies! I never did get around to try making jam/jelly. It seemed that most of the plums ripened last week and with my daughter's graduation/end of school activities, I just didn't have the time. We farmed all the plums out to family and friends. The last of the crop left Saturday. But I'll know where to go and what to do next year. :thumbsup2
