Day 3 – Hollywood Studios

We got up at 7:30 to start the daily routine of getting ready to hit the parks; the first stop of the day is going to be Hollywood Studios. I would like to add a little back story to this trip report in general which I completely failed to do on the last two posts (see I told you I wouldn’t be great at this:rolleyes1, the biggest failing is that my memory can be shocking at times). This holiday was the first time in 5 years that we’d been as just the two of us  (the last holiday being the wedding where we had 8 people with us), and this was the first time we’d ever stayed in a hotel over there so getting ready in the morning was so much easier when there’s only two of you to sort out and get out the door on time and only two people to worry about in the parks and it was bliss! The only downside was the fact that I’d woken up today with a severe sore throat and had to load up on Halls before leaving the hotel.

Got to the park for rope drop and followed the crowds straight over to toy story mania where the normal early morning chaos ensued, you really would think by now that Disney would have figured out that the majority of the people are heading over there first, yet they never seem to have the line system in place to absorb the numbers as people were queuing outside of the building yet once inside a large section of the barriers were not being used. It also made matters slightly worse by the fact that there was a delay at some point (I’m presuming some kind of ride failure although nothing was announced) as we were stuck in the same spot in the queue for a good 15 mins before starting to move again. It still wasn’t going to spoil the ride as I love this and it has fast become one of my favourites in Orlando.
After riding toy story me and Lucy decided to go our separate ways for an hour and a half as I will not ride on rollercoaster’s so she left me to do tower of terror and rock n rollercoaster while I settled for the tamer muppets 3D which is probably my favourite 3D show after Philharmagic. I still had time to kill and I’d arranged to meet Lucy in the star tours shop so I decided to give star tours a go to fill in the time and made it out bang on time but Lucy was nowhere to be seen and I started getting flashbacks to the previous holiday when I’d left Hollywood Studios in the morning to drop off the suits we’d hired for the wedding and returned and agreed to meet them outside Indiana Jones but they were almost 45 mins late because the rock n rollercoaster had broken down and they got stuck in the queue, I was not a happy panda that day I can tell you.
Luckily Lucy was only 10 mins late as she had decided to ride star tours as well so we left the star tours shop and headed over for lunch at the ABC Commissary for a quick bite. I had the fish and I think Lucy had the salad.
Now as the previous day had stated, the plan for today was to do Hollywood Studios followed by Magic Kingdom, but after being stuck in a rather busy Animal Kingdom the day before we bottled it and decided to head back to the hotel to chill before heading to downtown Disney as we had plans to meet some friends who were over there at the same time as us in Raglan Road but wanted to head to the Christmas shop first to arrange to have a bauble engraved as we tried the year before after the wedding but it was a 3 day turn around and we didn’t have the time. Ironically when we went to get the engraving done the turn around this time was only a day and we were told it would be ready for collection at 10pm that night. We arranged for the engraving plus an additional one for our friends who were the best man and bridesmaid for the wedding for a Christmas present for them and then did a few more shops in downtown Disney to kill time before meeting at Raglan Road.
We had specifically wanted to come back here as we tried this last year and loved the food and atmosphere of the restaurant and it didn’t disappoint this time around either, Lucy had the flat iron steak and if memory serves I think I had the fish and chips both of which were lovely. Our friends then asked of we fancied a round of crazy golf at fantasia gardens which was a no brainer for me as a) I like mini golf over there and b) this is my favourite course that I’ve tried. After a round of mini golf which I won we went our separate ways but made plans to meet the following night at citywalk for a meal at NBA City and a night out at Rising Star.

Didn’t take a camera with me today so here’s some random photo’s

Great day. I had exactly the same thought about the empty queuing area inside TSM at the start of the day.

Muppets is my favourite 3D film. :thumbsup2

Now I had just convinced myself that the new rollercoaster at Universal would be fine till I saw your photo of it, from a new angle. That first drop looks a lot steeper than it looks taken from the side - thanks for that.;), definitely need a cocktail or two before I tackle it.

Another lovely day and I really do appreciate you taking the time to do them and post the photos.:thumbsup2

So far it hasn't been much of a problem but I have to admit it's going to get interesting from now on as the rest of the holiday from this point is a complete blank of what we did when as my cold really changed the planner round, I'll figure it out though:)

Rather you than me :) it is however worth pointing out though that from that angle all you can really see is the lift hill to the top which is vertical, I'll try and dig out another photo for another post which has the actual drop which isn't as steep. It looks fantastic though

Hope you felt better soon.

I love those fish and chips at Raglan Road, can't wait to be eating them again.
And can't wait to ride TSM!

You're spot on about TSM. Why they haven't got someone trying to figure out a better method of distributing FP etc, rather than the usual mad scrum first thing is beyond me.
Other than that though it sounds like a good day. Might have to take DW and DD to try the fish at Raglan Road (I don't do fish myself but they would regard themselves as fish lovers without a doubt).
