We booked while on our cruise last weekend. All 9 of us are going again, and we're hoping there's a MVMCP on the night we dock.

I teach p/t and usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so the 11th is Veteran's Day a school holiday, so I won't have to take any time off from work!

Is any one else planning that cruise?

We'll be on that one too. Me, older DS, and 12YO DD. Doing that one so DD only misses one day of school (and I am sure she won't be the only one;)).

Count us in. Although, me and DBF (BoyFriend) only need two Deck 4 Promenade chairs to relax in and you might not even notice we are aboard! :thumbsup2

Is the ship decorated for the December holidays by this time? That would be fun to see! :)

Cape May, NJ, Bobbi? I hail from 'Turnpike Exit 3' area!

Yes, Cape May NJ...just a lovely town, DSis and we bought a small home there 11 years ago...She's coming on the DCL with us, she lives in Haddonfield. Our DMom lives in Cape May year round.

It's great that finally our countdown is less than a year!!!!

We were on a 3 night cruise for DH's birthday, November 17th a few years ago, and there was only a teeny little decorated for Christmas house in one little area, so my guess is you have to be later to get the Holiday Decorations.

Why do you prefer the Promonade deck chairs, and not by the pool?

Count us in!
Well nearly... I've just put a cabin on hold. Will make the deposit in the next few days.
I'll be cruising with my DH (couple in our early 30's). We're spending 2 weeks at WDW before the cruise and due to our flight going home to the UK being a few days later than planned we decided to add a Disney cruise.
It's our first Disney cruise. We've done several cruises with Royal Caribbean before (and will have done a transatlantic cruise on Cunard by then too).
Can't wait!!!

So far, family is saying "Yes!" We cut the time down to only one night before at WDW. Thanks for the best wishes!

Happy New Year to all from me too!

Just switched our DVC incentive cruise from 12/16 to this one! I was excited to cruise during the Christmas season, but my husband's work schedule required us to move it to Nov. The good part is it's one month earlier! It will be me, DH, DD (6.5 at the time) and DS (4.5 at the time). Celebrating our 10yr and my husband's b-day...

We cruised on the 7nt Western this past Oct and loved it. I'm afraid 3 nights will seem really short, so we are going to WDW for the first time the 5 nights prior. Can't wait!

Bobbi, I'm glad to see you are still in. It's also great to meet all the others jumping aboard this trip! We don't ahve plans to visit WDW on this trip.

Why do you prefer the Promonade deck chairs, and not by the pool?

Bobbi

In the past, the promenade chairs have been easier to come by for us - even on the non-smoking side - and it is always offers a great view. We also have observed that characters use it as a path [to wherever they are going] and they are always happy to stop for photos with us along the way. I even caught a DCL cast member getting a picture with Snow White there. I thought this was awesome that even employees got to experience some 'magic':

Wow, 15 nights, that's wonderful! Our family has 1 night at SSR before. Some of us will be in a Treehouse, and the other couple in a studio.

We are currently at the Dolphin for 2 nights then SSR for 3 nights before we set sail. I'm hoping to change to BLT for the 3 nights, only because we've never been to WDW and with 6 and 4 yr olds expect to spend lots of time at MK!

Yesterday was my DD's 6th b-day and she reminded me that we are going on the Mickey boat again for Daddy's b-day (we were on a 7nt for his 40th last year) My DS said he wanted to go on the Mickey boat for his birthday too in March! Can't swing that but we do have a DLR trip planned in April. He'll have to get his Mickey b-day fix then! Really looking forward to being back on he boat and surrounded by all the magic!

This is our first cruise, Me, DH, DD11, DD8 and DS5!! It sounds like it's going to be so FUN!! We can't wait! My DH and I had our 1st WDW trip a year ago today, I can't believe it's been a year! We just got back from the kids' first visit to WDW 2 weeks ago, and I'm now trying to plan this trip. We will be going to WDW, Bay Lake Tower, after the cruise until the 19th. I didn't do much of the planning on the last trips, so I need help getting this all planned out. This board is great!

I'm glad there are lots of kids, just hope more in the 8yr range join, or my DD8 will drive her 11yr sis crazy if she tags along very much.
I can't wait to hear about your May BLT stay. We spent the extra points to book a 2-bedroom because after seeing the cruise cat 4 family room on line, it looks like it will be tight. I figure we will need to spread out after the cruise. Do they ever do a free up grade from cat 4 to a suite?

We're really looking forward to this. Our countdown began at a year and a half, so it's great to see it so close.

Our other DS, not going on cruise, is getting married in New Orleans the weekend before Thanksgiving. DSis is still undecided as to whether she will be joining us. I hope she/they do.

So far, DS, DDiL, with our 3 DGC, ages 5, 6 and 7 are coming with us for sure.

I'm looking forward to meeting you!

Welcome!
We are going to WDW after our cruise. It seems like most families like to end with the cruise, but we have a big family wedding right before our cruise.
I also see you will be going to see Harry Potter soon! Please let me know how you liked it. I don't think we are going to try to squeeze it in on our trip in Nov, but maybe next time.

We booked the Miracle from the 3-11th, but decided it was not enough relaxation. So now we're driving up from Port Everglades and hopping on the Wonder for an extra cruise.

It'll be our first disney, we're kids at heart so we're really excited! We don't have any children yet, but future DH is so excited to see all their faces that first day.... though I'm sure his will be exactly the same! :rotfl:

Would love to join the Fish Extender exchange. We participated last year during our 7 day Western and it was the highlight of my kids cruise. Last year I was the only one in our family who new what it was (thanks to the DIS), this time I'm sure my DH and kids will have suggestions and want to help out! We'll be at WDW 5 days prior, just need to pick something that travels well...

Getting excited for our trip! Just confirmed the week off with my boss (turns out he's in WDW the same week!) I've made a few of my WDW dining reservations. Not used to that as we usually go to DLR where you don't need reservations. So glad I don't have to worry about that while we are on the cruise (except for Palo of course!)

I'll go back and read all the threads now... hope to find someone else with a DS in my kiddo's age group. It's always been nice to have him "meet someone" in advance... we've done that for him both of the other cruises, and it worked out great.

Yes, that'd be great! I looked at the Comfort Suites option, but since there are only 2 of us it's pretty much the same price to just go straight from the ship.

Do we have a meet and greet already setup for Thurs afternoon/eve?

Is anyone else staying at the airport Hyatt on Wednesday night?

It seems like the earlier the better for the Meet and Greet, because after sail away everyone is trying to get their suitcases and change before dinner. We have lifeboat drill at 3:30. How about if we meet at 3:00 in the Promenade lounge? We can just bring our life jackets with us, and then go from there to deck 4 for the drill. That'd give the kids a chance to meet before they start going to the clubs.

We could follow that up with an adults only meet up later that evening to discuss any specific plans in a more leisurely fashion.

What does everyone else think???

Booked Palo for Sat night and a Seaweed Wrap and Massage for me on Friday! I treated my husband to a massage last time, so this trip it's my turn!

We decided to not book any excursions this trip. We'll be running around at WDW prior, so we just plan on relaxing on the boat and on Castaway Cay for 3 days!

I was surprised that there were quite a few Palo ressies available. I thought it would be more difficult on such a short cruise. Hopefully my kids will have fun in the clubs that night so my DH and I can enjoy our date night!

I'll be there for the meet at 3pm. Can't wait to meet you in person on the Mickey Boat (that's what my DS calls it) !!

Count us in too! I promised myself if I lost 60 pounds, that I was going on a cruise, with no kids. I officially did it as of last week! So, my cruise is now paid in full, and we are staying at the Hyatt the night before. So, if it isn't too late, we would like to join the FE group.

Hi Everyone! We are really looking forward to this Disney cruise! It will be my DH (John) and myself (Celia) along with our friends Sylvia and "Dr. Niels" from the UK.

Anybody planning on a FE for this trip? (FE = Fish Extender)

BLT was wonderful! We had a 1 BR Bay Lake view, and actually had a MK and Bay View. I think you'll really like the 2 BR. Be sure to go up to the Top of the World lounge to see the fireworks and electrical water pageant!

So good to hear that you liked it. I can't wait to see the electric water parade!

It has been over a month since I have really had time to get on here. I still don't know about the FE. We are farmers and have a bunch of summer markets, so since sweet corn started I have not had much time. I have about a week until the Fall/pumpkin/corn maze season starts and it goes until Halloween. Then we have an out of town family wedding( which all my family members are in) then we come home for 2 days, then we are off to Disney! The FE sounds really fun but I don't think I will have time to put anything together, and I don't know what to give. I hope we can still do the meet-n-greet with you all. Boy, I really need this vacation!!

I don't know how many of you are also going to WDW, but on the "New Offical November 2010" thread someone made a cute Lime Green Mickey Head with a turkey wearing Mickey ears and 2010, and 'DISboard Turkeys' on it. The post is #3547 on page 237, so you can read all about it and how weHEARTmickey is so kind as to put your DISboard name at the bottom. I have already printed one out and it turned out great. She did an amazing job. Sorry I don't know how to link.

DS who lives in Melrose MA met someone through work with a DD aged 6 who will be on this cruise! He's not an fan of internet discussion groups, so didn't ask if she goes on the Disboards! But still, that's a coincidence!

We'll be at a Treehouse on the 10th. Will anyone else be in SSR that night?

Hey Cruise Buddies,

My travel agent contacted me today to let me know that FL resident rates were released, so we're getting a refund to upgrade. That means our secret Porthole Room on the Starboard side--5520--IS NOW AVAILABLE!!!! I'm not sure how long it'll sit there... my guess is not long. It's the front-most SPR, not a connector. It's the Cat 10 that used to be a Cat 8, but was downgraded due to a very minor obstruction of the outstanding porthole!!! We upgraded to a Cat 7 that used to be a Cat 6 (same kind of thing.. downgraded due to very minor obsruction!) Lucky us!!!:cool1:

Hope someone can take advantage. 5520 is a GREAT room!!!:thumbsup2

JSMom 2, I'm sorry I didn't catch your post sooner!!! Yes, we WOULD have been neighbors! Yes, just me and my son, Luke (11), on this cruise. They were supposed to be out of school on the Friday after Veterans Day this year, so I booked the cruise based on that. THEN they changed the schedule, and now they're not off! Well, we're going on the cruise. I haven't told his teachers yet that he's skipping school on Friday, but I'm sure they'll be supportive. We've been through a lot this year, and Luke deserves a getaway. :goodvibes

So... if anyone's keeping a list, Kim and DS Luke (11) in room 6134.

As for excursions, we're also doing the Atlantis excursion.... that's enough. :) Oh, and snorkeling at Castaway Cay, as always.

I hope this works. I've created a database with each DIS name and whether they have said they are participating or not. I've posted it on Goggle Docs and anyone with the link can edit it (please just edit your information!). We need to make sure we have names, ages (adults don't have to say their age!), and room numbers for anyone participating. The sooner everyone updates, the better as we have some people who are leaving soon for a very nice long vacation.

Here is the link. Only people with the link can access the database. And, I'll take it down after the cruise. I suggest printing a copy before you leave so you have all the names, etc.

Wow Sharon, that was cool! I've never seen something shared like that. I filled out our info, but I don't think I can get a FE thing for the cruise. I wanted to put the kids' ages up so we might get to know kids about their ages. I have some glow bracelets I will pass out at our DISmeet. I also saw a cute Lime Green Mickey Head with an eye patch design that I want to put on stickers or if I can figure it out, tattoos. So I will still like to get some kind of count for the DISmeet. I'm getting so excited!!:yay:

Would that work? Are glow bracelets and stickers or tattoos OK gifts for the kids? It sounds fun but I'm not sure how this really works.

Thanks, Sharon. I noticed that some on the cruise board do not think a 3 nighter has enough time to do a movie! The last time we were on, we saw, Earth and I was hoping Oceans would be shown this year. Well, we haven't seen Secretariat and I want to....so I'll make the time work somehow!

By the way, my DS/DDiL had 2 connecting inside cabins and I got the message from DU that they were upgraded to outside cabins. I checked the deck plans and they are connecting as well. They'll be so pleased!

We haven't seen the family since the 4th of July, we're really looking forward to seeing them next week!

See you all Thursday at 3pm! We leave tomorrow am for a few days at WDW, can't wait!

I had a panic attack Thurs night because I realized I forgot to mail in my voucher for my free DVC cruise. It said my cruise would be cancelled if I didn't mail in 45 days prior to sailing!! I thought I wouldn't be seeing you after all! But I spoke with DCL the next morning and they said no problem and gave me the addess to overnight it to. I agree on it being more personal and was nice to see familiar faces around the ship. We're considering either the 4-day 2011 Christmas cruise or the Dec 26th 3 day. I too hope the seas aren't as rough but we all made it through okay. Just think how the previous week was with Tomas so nearby :scared1:

It was wonderful to meet you all! The cruise was perfect but too short for my taste. The weather at Castaway Cay was perfect (last year it started pouring at 1pm) We loved going down the slides on Pelican Plunge

We almost rebooked onboard. We tried to get a good price for Springbreak Mexican Riviera 10 night (we have friends going going then), but they couldn't bring it down w/in our budget. I think we'll probably skip a year or two (this year we'll stay close to home, next year we hope for Aulani). But we'll definitely be back!

Best Wishes to Everyone!

We just got back from our trip and I just have to say a big "THANK YOU" to all of you! My kids had the best time with the FE exchange!! We had so much fun delivering things and seeing all the great doors and FEs! It was so funny how many questions you get asked when delivering. I just told them to check out the DISbaords!
This was the only way we could get the kids to go back to our room by saying "Hey, lets go check if anything is in the FE!:rotfl: When we were at BLT after the cruise, the kids said that they wished there was an exchange there too!
You all are amazing! What great and thoughtful surprises! Lots of things to remember a wonderful trip!
