I know lots of you gals use the design studio for your swap stuff. I have finally broken into mine and have designed some pages, but I just can not figure out how to do the welding. I want to weld my titles. I have read the instructions over and over and still I can not figure out what i am doing wrong.
Does anyone have a more indepth instruction sheet to help me?

Shawn, you need to move the elements so that they overlap and then click weld. If you add a page and click the "eye", you should be able to see how it will cut out.

Well I have been working on this welding thing. Not as easy as I would hope, but I am getting the hang of it (i think?)Thanks for the hints. I have found that when I want to weld a word I can not use the 12x12 format, because the size of the letters when you type are to large. So I use the 12x24 type to word and weld it and then use the 12x12 format. I do not know if there is an easier way, but it worked that way. Then I learned how to do each letter, but I like welding the whole word, lot easier. Now I am working on the shadowing and lining them up. Its diffently a trial and error thing.

Having welded & shadowed words in both SCAL and CDS, I can say that SCAL is a whole lot easier than CDS when it comes to welding & shadowing. To create a shadow of a welded word in SCAL, all you do is click the shadow button and make sure the weld button is clicked. I rarely use CDS for words anymore -- it is a PITA compared to SCAL.
