I'm glad you liked the breakfast at Crystal Palace. We've done dinner and it was so so. My son requested to eat with Pooh again this trip in Oct. so I booked an 805A breakfast as well. We've never been in the park before opening, so I can't wait for that.:thumbsup2
We were very excited about getting an 8:05am reservation at CP so we could get into the Magic Kingdom early! Unfortunately, the bus incident caused us to be much later than we wanted. That being said, we LOVED our breakfast at Crystal Palace!
Wow, Wil has such a baby face! I thought he was much younger! Go him!
I rather enjoyed the ghoul..I mean cool pun.. made me :lmao: But I am a simpleton at times!
You can tell the MK is your fav park, best pics yet!
Like those Wave menus, very pretty, and super Dis friendly lol
looking forward to the review!
Hahaha....thanks for humoring me on the bad pun! I was in a silly mood.
Review from our lunch at The Wave is on its way.
Fun morning at the so empty Magic Kingdom!! I'm glad you guys got to try a couple of new attractions:goodvibes
It was an awesome morning at MK! The only thing that was missing was Space Mountain. I hated that it was closed for refurb during this trip.
We LOVED Crystal Palace!! The food was good, plenty of choices and the character interaction was wonderful. It just happens that Eeyore is Valeria's favorite character also. She has a plush toy of him we bought a couple of years back and from time to time she takes it from the shelf to use as a sleep pal...
Also, your photopass family pics are beautiful!! That's the stuff memories are made of.
Regards,
Luis
Hi Luis! I totally agree. The food and the character interaction was better than I expected. You gotta love Eeyore! You know how they have a Pal Mickey and he gives interesting tidbits about the parks? Well, Wil started doing an impression of what he called, "Pal Eeyore." It was Eeyore's melancholy voice giving upbeat park tidbits! It was hilarious!!!
That's funny that Eeyore is Valeria's favorite also. Juliana also has that plush Eeyore! She sleeps with it!
Thanks for the comments on the PhotoPass pictures. It's neat to capture such a happy moment in life!
I wonder why so empty?
Kate
In my opinion, the top five reasons would be:
1 - rain, 2 - early morning, 3 - rain, 4 - Tuesday, 5 - rain
We have done Crystal Palace twice for dinner, but not yet for breakfast. It is high on our list to do an early breakfast, both for the good breakfast and for those awesome empty street pictures!
Continuing to enjoy your sweet family's pictures, Alan! We had a couple of rainy spots during our summer trip, so the picture of the poncho-covered strollers was a familiar sight! :)
Thanks very much! It is easy to let bad weather get you down, but as long as you're at Disney World and you have low crowds, I say just make the best of it, right? Hope you get a chance to go to CP for breakfast. It was very, very good. I have now eaten at Tony's Town Square, Liberty Tree Tavern, and Crystal Palace....and I think CP would be my favorite. (Of course, it's hard to compare since the other places were not breakfast.)
You guys must have set a consecutive ride record for BTMRR!!! LOL Too bad for everyone else that ust've thought they would melt in the rain!
BTMRR is actually more fun in the rain!
I totally lost track of the count. How many times did you guys get to ride? :confused3
Never done Philharmagic but it is a must do on our plan in just over a month. Can't wait.
Let's see - Wil and I rode four times before going over to Splash Mountain. Elizabeth and Juliana had to go to the restroom after riding the first time, so when they got back they rode again with us on our fourth time. Then, while Wil and I were on Splash Mountain, the girls rode two more times. Finally, we all rode together one last time. Whew! That's a lot of BTMRR!
I was several updates behind! It was great to catch up!
CP breakfast just looks DELISH. I am so excited to eat there! I LOVE breakfast, plus when it's gooooood, plus characters=fun and a great way to start the MK day! I'm sorry to hear about the poor bus service there though...that is the first time I have ever read about poor bus service at CSR though. Was the rest of the time pretty good?
It must have been so much fun to ride BTMRR that many times! I can't believe how empty MK is even at that late of an hour in the day.
We did a lunch at The Wave and it was also empty - there were maybe four tables being used. We also were served by a very sweet Asian woman, her name was something like Xeu - wonder if it was the same gal? I hope you enjoyed it-we really liked our meal there!
Hi Brook! Hope all is well with you and your family.
I think you guys would love CP for breakfast. Henry will get a kick out of the characters, and you guys will love the food.
The bus service from CSR was generally very good with this one exception. I truly think we did miss a Magic-Kingdom-bound bus because the destination was mislabeled or something. This seemed to have been an isolated incident. In the future, we will take the bus to the Magic Kingdom, but will probably drive to all other parks. It is just much faster when you can go directly to your vehicle.
Having an empty Magic Kingdom was like being a kid in a candy store! Woohoo!
YES!!! THAT'S HER! You all had the exact same server we did. Her name was Xeu, or something very close to that. She was very, very good. She made great suggestions and even got Juliana a replacement drink when she didn't like the drink she ordered. We really liked The Wave - it was just sad to see it so empty there.

We always got to CP for lunch when we get to WDW- it's our first must do every time with the kids. I think their lunch buffet is just great!! Something for everyone. I have an ADR for this November 4th at 12:55 pm.:goodvibes
Narcoosees looked delicious- I think we'll be there in May (DISmoms). Do you know what the weight of your lobsters was? I'm making lobster next weekend- it's part of the Seafood Fest we have every year. I like to grill them with a chili lime butter. Mmmmmmm.....:thumbsup2
Can't wait to hear about the Wave- it just got a great review on the Podcast, interested to hear what you all thought!
I think we will try lunch at Crystal Palace next time. Last year, on our MK day, we ate at Liberty Tree Tavern. It was okay, but I like trying new things. This year, we decided to hop on the monorail and eat lunch at The Wave. It was very good! In fact, we may do that again!
The lobster, I think, is either 2.25 pounds or 2.5 pounds. It is a generous portion...and the flavor was delicious. I don't know if I could afford to eat here if we weren't on the dining plan, but it is certainly worth the 2 table service credits on the dining plan. OOOHhhh....you are making me hungry with that talk of lobster and chili lime butter!
We enjoyed The Wave also - there just wasn't a wave of people. We kept thinking, "where is everyone? This is freaky!"
Are your kids back in school yet?
Hi Luis, Good to hear from you!!! Have you heard about the HUGE Dis Meet being planned for 2012 ?? Are you interested ???
Nice plug, Rosie!
Hi Rose!!
Big SIGH....
Interested? Yes, of course, but, alas, right now I'm not very sure about when we will be able to do our next trip to WDW. We are just beginning the process of trying to move to a new flat in a better part of the city, which means curtailing a lot of expenses, finding (and buying!!) a good new place to live, etc. and, sadly, real state is REALLY expensive in Venezuela...
But, Who knows? The future is always open, so I'll keep an open mind about it (or at least dream about it :) ).
Regards,
Luis
Luis, we totally understand. I am still hopeful we can return to WDW next year, but with the restaurant and the fact that Juliana needs braces, we may not be back in 2010....but we'll see! It is ALWAYS a possiblity!
Best of luck with your new flat! It couldn't happen for a nicer family!
What a wonderful MK report. Even though it was raining, what a great morning for the rides. How lucky to be able to ride BTM so many times in a row with little to no wait!
Can't wait for the Wave review! Have a great day. :flower3:
It really was a great morning! Review for the Wave is coming up next.

Can't wait to hear about your meal at the Wave. The restaurant looks very nice, and empty too. We are going to Chef Mickey's for the first time in Nov. I have never been to any of the restaurants in the Contemporary. I can't wait.

It was just after noon on a Tuesday and we were seated immediately for our lunch at The Wave. We were shocked by how few people were here! Our server was Xeu, (I think that was her name,) and she was very pleasant. She brought our menus and took our drink orders.
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-093.jpg
The kids started off with smoothies. Wil ordered the Supercharged Tropical Smoothie and I talked Juliana into ordering the Mega-Berry Smoothie.
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-096.jpg
Juliana did NOT like her smoothie at all - and was regretting that she didn't order the same one Wil ordered.
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-095.jpg
Our server was so great that she went out of her way to bring Juliana the Supercharged Tropical Smoothie. (I ended up drinking the Mega-Berry smoothie myself!)
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-094.jpg
Did I mention how empty it was?
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-097.jpg
Anyway, for my appetizer, I ordered the Pepper-Seared Tuna on Napa Cabbage Slaw and Chicken Spring Rolls. (This is suppose to be an appetizer for two, but I asked could the chef prepare it for a single person - and they said, "no problem!")
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-098.jpg
How do I love the? Let me count the ways! Great appetizer! Now in all fairness, it wasn't as good as the ahi tuna at Yak & Yeti, but it was very, very good.
Elizabeth and Wil both ordered the Lump Crab Cake. It was very good!
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-099.jpg
(I don't know why, but the rest of the pictures we made at lunch turned out to be blurry. Some setting must have accidentally been changed during the coarse of our meal. Anyway, I apologize for the bluriness.)
For my entree, I had the Reuben Sandwich. Classic lunch sandwich.
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-100.jpg
It is hard to tell from this picture, but the sandwich was very large! In fact, Elizabeth and I could have shared this dish. She also order the Reuben.
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-101.jpg
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-103.jpg
Wil got the Angus Chuck Bacon Cheeseburger. HE LOVED IT!!!
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-102.jpg
Juliana had the children's cheeseburger:
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-104.jpg
Wil and I are already full - do we have to eat dessert?
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-105.jpg
Uh....yeah we do!
I can't recall what all of these items are, or who ordered what, but it was good!
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-108.jpg
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-109.jpg

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-112.jpg
All in all, our lunch at The Wave was very good. In fact, it was one of Wil's favorites. I enjoyed leaving the Magic Kingdom to come over to the Contemporary on the monorail for lunch. We were all having a very nice day...but a nap was calling! We walked from the Contemporary back over to the bus stop at the Magic Kingdom, then took the bus back to Coronado Springs. When we got back, housekeeping was still in our room, so we had to wait outside.
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-113.jpg
I really was a rainy, deary day - perfect for an afternoon nap!
Here was the view just outside our room:

Coming up next - we split up for the evening! Guys go in one direction, and the girls in another!

Wow! An outpouring of love shown for the classic Dumbo ride! Geeesh, Kathy, get with the program! :rotfl2:
Nah, seriously, we probably would have passed it but we just happened to be right there with a 20 minute wait and we had 30 minutes until our FastPasses for Peter Pan, so we went for it! There definitely is something magical about riding Dumbo at the Magic Kingdom - makes you feel like a kid!
I have been gone for a few days and missed the action here! But I saw the Dumbo part and had to jump in and confess: as many times as I have been to WDW (probably 10?) and DL (probably 8?) I have never ridden Dumbo :sad2: Not as a child and not with my kids nor as an adult!:sad1: Where do I go to turn in my "I am a red-blooded, love everything Disney, American" card?

After a much needed afternoon nap, it was time for us to split up and go our seperate ways for the afternoon. Elizabeth had scheduled Juliana for an appointment at Ivy Trellis to get her hair braided. (I can thank Cammie for this one! Ever since Juliana read her trip report, she just HAD to have her hair braided like Lauren's!)

After a nice afternoon of mother/daughter bonding, Elizabeth and Juliana made their way back to the Magic Kingdom to meet back up with Wil and I.

Liked Wil's concept of "Pal Eeyore"!! Just hearing about it made me laugh. He should sell that idea to Disney!!
Glad you liked The Wave!! That photo of Wil's Angus Cheeseburger just made my mouth water (and I have just gotten dinner!!). I agree that the desserts are very good. In fact, I found myself just wanting to order another round...
And those pastries at The Grand Floridian look just fabulous!

Just found your tr (I know, I'm just a *little* late) and I'm all caught up. You have such a beautiful family and I'm enjoying reading about your adventures.
The hot dog restaurant sounds awesome, too bad I don't live closer to check it out. We love hot dogs, we even go on a 'hot dog tour' every year in New Jersey with some people from the roadfood forums. Lots of fun! :)

Well we were going to do QSDP on our trip next year but I think we may upgrade to DDP to try out a few of your restaurants! Ohana and CP is on the top of our lists! DxDDP is just way too much food for us.
Um, even though this was our first trip this year, we didn't do Dumbo either. Shame on us!

well, that all looked great! Lonnie & I did the GF Tea on this trip- I LOVED it and hope to do it again. It was really special! And J's hair is AWESOME!!!! Love those braids!
Oh- and to answer your question, the boys have 2 weeks left of summer- Sean goes back the day after Labor Day and T&T go back Sept 10th! Most schools in NJ go back after labor day- although this year is a little different in some towns because Labor Day is so late.

I'm glad you enjoyed your lunch at the Wave. I had never even heard of that restaurant before. It is fun to spend time with just one child at a time at WDW. We had to split up some on our last trip because our son was too small to ride some rides and too scared to ride others. One of us took our daughter on bigger rides while the other took our son on smaller rides. I do hope he is ready to try more rides this time because it is also fun to be able to ride things as a family. Waiting to hear about the boys' adventure.

I think we were able to fit everything in BECAUSE of the naps. They re-energize us and it is almost like having two days in one!
well, that all looked great!
Juliana and Elizabeth really had a great time together doing the salon and the tea. You KNOW who Juliana's influence was for doing the braids!
Wow...our kids have already been back in school for two weeks. They started last Monday. I think we get out down here before you all do.
Hi! Really enjoying your trippy. Great pics too. We are planning our first trip next May and have picked out some restaurants because of your pics and reviews! Really helps us a lot :thumbsup2
I can see you enjoy the food experience as much as I know I'm going to! That's part of the reason for going to Disney World right!?
Looking forward to reading the rest of your report.
May is such a wonderful time to go! It would be hard to convince me of a better time!
The food experience is part of what makes our vacations great! I can cook for myself at home. I can eat out at regular places at home. But when I am on vacation, I look for something SPECIAL! Yes, the eating experience at Disney World definitely adds to the overall experience. :thumbsup2
That's great that you each planned something special for your son / daughter. It's a great bonding moment! The tea looks like it was a nicething to do!
The boys' adventure is up next!
so cute..mother daughter time at the GF :) love it! Looking forward to what you boys did!
Oh yeah....we were not going to be outdone by the girls!
All caught up!
So sorry about the moody bus driver, we had a few long waits last year too and it's so annoying!
Glad you got to CP OK and they were fine, the food looks lovely.
Wow the Wave was empty and how kind of the server to replace the smoothie!
The braids look lovely and what a lovely way for the girls to spend their afternoon :goodvibes
Hi DisneyJo! It is funny how some people seem to LOVE their job at Disney (like the server at The Wave,) and others seem to HATE their job (like the bus driver.) I guess that's life, huh?
Anyway, the girls had a wonderful time together. The boys time is coming up next!
I love this TR :worship:
awww...thanks!
I love how you guys split up and did speical things with each of the kids. It looks like your ladies had a wonderful afternoon! A trip to the salon and afternoon tea-sounds like an excellent vacation day to me!
Looking forward to reading what the boys did...
Isn't that cool? It was sort of like a vacation within a vacation for the girls. They both agreed that it was a nice treat for them.
It's fun to be together as a family, but splitting up can really build some individual memories between you and your kids. They relish the time when they have your full undivided attention. I think my afternoon with Wil definitely made our relationship even better.
You tell Ms. Julianna that I love her hair braided like that. Looking forward to hearing about the father/son time together.
Well, I will definitely tell Miss Juliana that you said so! She had a great time with it!

Since the girls had their afternoon planned, Wil and I had plans of our own! We decided to go back to the Magic Kingdom and see how many rides we could ride before our dinner reservations at Tony's Town Square.
It was still raining outside. Raining, Schmaining! Who cares? Put some rain gear on and get going!

We took the bus to the Magic Kingdom and decided to go ride Buzz Lightyear.

it was just amazing how there was no one there!! We would literally step off the ride, and then step right back on. We ended up riding it 6 straight times!
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-143.jpg
Finally, after six times, we were actually tired of riding Buzz Lightyear. (Oh, and by the way, Wil beat me in scores EVERY SINGLE TIME! It wasn't even close!)
We had just enough time to ride Astro Orbiter before it was time for our dinner reservation.
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-144.jpg
We enjoyed this ride last year - but it was even more fun in the rain!
After that, it was time to head back down Main Street to go to Tony's Town Square for our guys dinner.

Riding Buzz 6 times in a row reminds me of the night last June when my boyfriend and I rode BTMRR 5 times in a row at the end of the night. We were going to try for more...but I had to use the little girl's room too badly to sustain another ride. :rotfl: But, I love when the park is dead like that!
Can't wait to hear about your dinner at Tony's! :thumbsup2

This was our second year in a row for my son and I to eat at Tony's Town Square together. It was such a memorable part of our trip last year, Wil was insistent on doing it again this year. I was just glad to be spending some quality time with my son!
Last year, we had a wonderful server named Casey. (You KNOW it is a good server when you can remember his name from one year ago!) This year - uh....not so much. I think our server's name was Kathy....and she was not very good at all.
She brought us our menus, along with bread and olive oil:
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-149.jpg
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-150.jpg
Wil and I were both thirsty, so we ordered a glass of water and Sprite as our drink. It seemed like it took forever for the drinks to come.
Then it was time to order our appetizers. They have a wonderful antipasto platter for two. Last year, I asked my server could I possibly order that appetizer for only one person. He said, "sure! I'm glad you asked! Most people don't think to ask." Well....this year was a different story. I asked our server, "could I possibly get the antipasto platter for two, only a single portion?" She said, "no." I explained to her that last year our server had the chef make a single portion and said it was no problem. She said, "well, we don't do that anymore." Uh...not very friendly or accommodating.
I was really disappointed...and I let her know it. That was what I was most looking forward to about my meal at Tony's. Oh well. I remembered Wil ordering the calamari last year and it was really good, so I ordered it.
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-151.jpg
It was good, but the portion size was much smaller than last year. This was not turning out to be a great dining experience. Wil, however, ordered the toasted cheese and garlic bread, and loved it!
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-152.jpg
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-153.jpg
When it came time to order our entrees, Wil said, "this place is famous for their spaghetti and meatballs!" So that's what he ordered.
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-154.jpg
It was very good.
I decided to try the Shrimp Scampi Linguini with sun-dried tomatoes. It was delicious!
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-155.jpg
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-156.jpg
Note to self: If I ever eat at Tony's again, order this dish!
However, there was one thing that kept me from fully enjoying this dish. I was about to thirst TO DEATH! Our server only refilled our glasses once. My meal was very tasty....but when you are thirsty, it is hard to enjoy anything.
Next came the desserts. Wil ordered the Ice Cream Bomb. (He had ordered this last year and said it was "Da Bomb!")
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-159.jpg
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-160.jpg
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-158.jpg
I had the Tiramisu. It was okay.
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-161.jpg
Overall, the best thing about dinner at Tony's was the COMPANY! I never told Wil that I wasn't enjoying my meal....and he LOVED his once again this year! If this kid wants to come eat here with his Dad for the rest of his life, I will come eat here! That being said, I truly would not recommend Tony's Town Square based on this year's experience. The entree was really good, but the service was downright poor - the worst all week long.
Okay....so after we finished our dinner it was dark, dreary, and rainy. The park was practically empty. We took FULL advantage of it! I'm sorry I don't have pictures to show here, primarily because it was too wet to keep the camera out. We met back up with the girls to ride Buzz Lightyear two more times, then we went to the Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor. What a great attraction! We laughed and had a great time!
By this time, the girls were ready to call it a day....so they headed on back to CSR. Wil and I stayed and rode more rides. He wanted to do Stitch's Great Escape again this year....so I did that with him. (I hate that attraction...but Wil loves it, so I did it with him anyway!) Afterwards, we went back and rode Astro Orbiter once more.
Then, we crossed the park and rode the Jungle Cruise. Next, we rode Pirates of the Caribbean. (Here is a poor attempt at making a picture of the Davy Jones reflection off the water.)
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/05-163.jpg
After Pirates, we went back to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and rode it three straight times in a row!!
It was absolutely amazing to have the whole park to ourselves like that. However, we were now getting tired and ready to get to dryer ground.
We had ridden more rides than I've probably ever ridden in a single day. It had been a wonderful day. On the bus back to Coronado Springs, Wil even let me hug on him. He looked at me and said, "Dad? You know yesterday when I said it was the best day ever? Well, yesterday was the second best day ever. THIS has been the best day ever!" SCORE!! I think it was all I could do to not cry a little...but instead I looked at him and said, "Boy, you are not kidding! We had a GREAT day, didn't we?"
I'm telling you....you can't buy or bottle this stuff. How great is it for your son to tell you he has just experienced his best two days ever? It absolutely cannot get better than that.
We made it back to our resort and called it a night. My relationship with my son was as strong as it had ever been....and I was at peace.

I have to say that Tony's was the all time worst experience we ever had in 4 trips at WDW. We had poor service and poor food. I just can't bring myself to return, not one of us enjoyed it. I think at WDW you have good days and great days... the day we ate at Tony's was a good day but the dining experience did not enhance our day if you know what I'm saying.
Glad to hear Will enjoyed it, that is the most important thing. :goodvibes

Alan - I have ALOT of back-reading to do but I just read your latest installment and wanted to comment.
Lauren and I had the same experience with Tony's last year. The food was decent enough but the service was horrible! We too waited forever to have our drinks served, and then refilled.
Wil's appetizer looked delicious but when I saw your calamari, I thought maybe you had eaten some before you took the pic. But no? That was it? We did enjoy our dinner and glad to see you did too!
So - how late did you last at PM EMH? It is wonderful, isn't it? Too bad the rain has to put a damper on it though.
Ok, I need to catch up. I-spy a sleeping little girl wearing a kerchief. Which could only me one thing - HAIR BRAIDING!!!! I need to read about it!

And I know you didn't really recommend Tony's but I just have to say that your review is the first one I've seen that actually looks good. I'm reluctant to try it because in NY it's so easy to get great Italian food and we generally don't like the Italian food we've tried at WDW. The food looked good, especially the pasta dishes. Maybe one of these trips we'll just have to brave it! :thumbsup2

We returned from the World on 8/18 & ate at Tony's on the 17th. I also had the Shrimp Scampi w/ sundried tomatoes & asparagus, like Alan. It was awesome with lots of shrimp! Our server was HORRIBLE though. Her name was Michelle & on her name tag it said she was from NY, which is part of what I blame her bad attitude on. We live in NY & it has been bothering me lately that people who work in retail establishments around here have bad attitudes. This Michelle fit right in. It was like we were bothering her. When she brought the drinks, she handed each one of them to my DH to distribute to everyone in our party. I turned to my DH & asked if he was going to get part of her tip. She did the same thing when she brought the dessert menus...handed the stack to my DH to hand out to the rest of us & when she brought out the desserts! The only reason my DH didn't have to distribute our main courses is because a different server brought them out. Needless to say she did not receive a good tip from us. That being said, I would not skip Tony's as I LOVED my dinner.

Sorry to hear about the bad service you got at Tony's. By contrast, last year the best service we got was at the Wave and at Tony's, where a wonderful young lady (Bethany, IIRC) gave us excellent recommendations and prompt service...
Nevertheless, as you say, what matters is that Wil had a good day. Those are the moments one lives for...

I am a firm believer that being such disney fans will keep our kids just a little bit more carefree and childish forever (in the metaphorical sense) and THAT is what will keep us close no matter what. At least that is my plan! Love the pics too! and wow riding Buzz that many times, so cool! I love t hat ride. a LOT!

The food at Tony's was on par with something like a Macaroni Grill or maybe Olive Garden. It's okay, but a true New Yorker would scoff at it I'm sure. It was okay, but disappointing overall.

Elizabeth and Juliana both really enjoyed the tea. I think it made them feel "special".....kinda like VIPs....which is the whole point. They enjoyed the tea more than they did their dinner last year at Cinderella's Royal Table. I think you and Lauren would love doing that together!

Alan, your food looked really good, but bad service KILLS it for us- that has got to be Pods' most hated restaurant issue.:sad2: I think I'd rather have excellent service and average food than amazing food with awful service- and that's sayin' alot, because I am obsessed with food! So happy you had a nice nite with Wil!
Yeah, it's really hard to enjoy good food if the service is poor. You feel like you are a hostage waiting patiently for a glass of water! Geeesshh....can I just get up and get it myself?
I don't mean to complain too much....but I give so many positive reviews that I didn't want everyone thinking I couldn't be objective. That being said, if Wil wanted to go back to Tony's with me for a 'guys-only' dinner, I would most certainly do that. But if it were just me, I probably wouldn't eat there again....except for the fact that we now have such wonderful memories there. Tell Pods I'm with him. Bad service = bad restaurant.

Is it ever all right to ask to speak to the manager when you get service so poor? It seems that there are real issues at Tony's with the service. Either you het a great server or really crappy server. Would bringing the manager over and complaing about the service help or would you just end up with something gross in your food? Just wondering.
Poor service is my DH's biggest complaint. I have seen walk away and leave no tip at all when his iced tea glass has not been refilled one time during a meal. Of course, I then leave a less than desired tip. But perhaps the server gets the point. If there is a comment card, we fill it out or if the manager asks how things were, we tell them.
Alan, this has been the most entertaining thread. I know it will end at some point and I can't stand the thought:sad2: Feel like I know your family as cousins!

No - not a bad review of Tony's - say it ain't so! We have an ADR there on our arrival day, so that will be our first taste of Disney.:sad2: Not that I had alot of choice - it was the only restaurant available anywhere near the MK. Maybe I need to go online and hunt some more.
Anyhoo,
Great update, so special to have that time with Will.:goodvibes
It's really not that bad. If you get a good server, I think you will enjoy it. But a bad server can ruin the experience. That Antipasto appetizer for two is really good if you can get someone in your party to go in with you on it.
Haven't all caught up yet, but we are eating at Tony's our first night !!:scared1:We wont have the problem with the appetizer as we are not on DLX!!! I absolutely loved :lovestrucit in May the same time you were there ! But I had an awesome server can't remember his name I am old ya know !!!!!!! :lmao:I had the Steak and the Tiramusu both were great and my coffee cup was filled many times !!!:thumbsup2
Hi Rosie! I would recommend the shrimp scampi dish at Tony's. It was very good....just make sure you have plenty to drink on your table!
What a GREAT dad you are!
Awww...thanks, Kathy. I've said it before and I'll say it again....I'm Clark Griswold! I love my kids....I just don't get to spend enough time with them on a day-to-day basis....so I really go out of the way to try and make our vacation time special. That builds lifelong memories. I remember going on family vacations with my mom and dad, and those are some of my most fond memories of childhood. I just want our kids to remember this time in their lives and KNOW that they are loved by their parents. I think that helps build their self-confidence, which is soooo important in how they view themselves in life.
Wow...that is a VERY similar experience to ours. The shrimp scampi really was good, but the service was poor. Very abnormal for me to ever leave a low tip, but I only left 10%....and that was being generous. We even explained to our server that this was a special father/son meal and we were starting this as a tradition. She seemed utterly unphased by this information and was much more eager to please the larger group nearby.
I just have to comment. I was going to wait until I was completely read up but I just have to stop and say "AWWWW". I love it! I love your moments with your kids and wife. I love the Dismeet. I love that you didn't go to jail for bopping the tram driver. I love that you turned me on to Yak and Yeti. I love that you had a great Disney time with your family and have chosen to share it was us strangers. You rock and I appreciate you!
YAY! Great comments! I too am glad that I didn't go to jail for bopping a tram driver!! Now THAT would have been a definitely Clark Griswold move!!! Thanks very much for your wonderful comments, and it would seem that you totally get me....for that I am appreciative. And comments like yours make doing these trip reports worthwhile. YOU ROCK TOO! (I need an emoticon with an electric guitar and a tattoo!)
That's a lot of buzz'n! :thumbsup2
Awww you and Wil's day gave me a lump in my throat. How special for you guys.
Definitely a day that we will never forget....in a good way!
Ellen - I think this is a MUST-DO for May! I was just talking about it with Lauren for December and she has no interest whatsoever! It would be such a waste to do it with her. I would love to make this one of our "big" dinners! :thumbsup2
Know what would be really cool? If the Renfroes could go in May and join you ladies for a nice meal at Narcoossee's! (Yes, I am crashing your party....sorry.)
DONE!!! Actually, it was already DONE because that was the place Kara had mentioned to me she would love to try next year....
Speaking of....Where's Waldo? I mean...Kara?? Haven't "seen" her around- you?:confused3

That was such a nice and refreshing update to read. Poor service aside...like you said, all that matters is that you and Wil have the memory of that day forever! That is priceless!! I'm glad you had that opportunity and took advantage of it! :thumbsup2
Just writing that last chapter made me get a little teary-eyed. Days like that one are rare....and I'm so glad we got to share it together.
She's been MIA on our thread.
I think it's time for me to harass her via text.
Oh, give her a hard time from me too! Tell her that if Mr. Renfroe can work a 50 hr/wk job AND run a restaurant AND still find time to update his trip report, she has no excuses!! :rotfl2:
Sorry to hear about the bad service you got at Tony's. By contrast, last year the best service we got was at the Wave and at Tony's, where a wonderful young lady (Bethany, IIRC) gave us excellent recommendations and prompt service...
Nevertheless, as you say, what matters is that Wil had a good day. Those are the moments one lives for...
Regards,
Luis
Hi Luis! Yeah, it is funny because last year at Tony's our server was one of the best of the entire trip. I guess it just depends on the individual. We were SOO hoping we would get that same server this year!
Alas, we had a wonderful day and I wouldn't change a thing.
Alan, damn you! the tears just came spilling out again! What a wonderful day, you and wil had! just amazing! Can NOT put a price on that! I am a firm believer that being such disney fans will keep our kids just a little bit more carefree and childish forever (in the metaphorical sense) and THAT is what will keep us close no matter what. At least that is my plan! Love the pics too! and wow riding Buzz that many times, so cool! I love t hat ride. a LOT!
I will have to agree about Tony's, we really enjoyed the food more than we thought (after the terrible reviews on here) but our service SUCKED!
Looking forward to your next post
I couldn't agree more. I think building those special bonds with our children will let them know they are loved....and they will not settle for anything less as they grow up. My kids are my priority in life.
What a great night! Wil will remember that night his whole life. I love Disney memories with my kids.
That is a time in our lives that we can both reflect back on when we talk about our good times together. I'm so thankful there's a place like Disney World that helps facilitate moments like these.

Boy you really know how to lay it on thick!!! First you tell us how you had the park all to yourselves, which must've been incredible by the way!!! You've got me praying for at least a day of rain on our Jan. trip just to see what it's like getting right on the rides and keep riding them over and over again. It never rained a drop on our previous trips! And then, Wil's comment.... boy did the tears come. That was the sweetest thing ever! Neither of you will ever forget that day! Great TR!!!! :thumbsup2

Alan, I'm running low on adjectives to describe the job you are doing on this report. I got a little lump in my throat too as I read the mother/daughter and father/son parts. Alan, your last post was truly inspirational! I am so glad that you were able to get in that time with your son (and likewise, mother/daughter). I am trying to plan out something special for my two younger sons (9, and just about to be 5) on our Epcot day while my oldest son and husband take in the Magic/Heat game. (The 9 year old hates basketball, the 5 year old was indifferent and I didn't want to miss illuminations),.. I am thinking Beaches & Cream for a Kitchen Sink... whatcha think dad of the year? Hi Alan--I will be joining the DISmoms next May (I'm Joan, whom Ellen refers to as the farm girl...as if...ok, so I am, sort of)!!!! Can't wait! Anyway, I have heard so much about you from Ellen so I started reading your thread. I FINALLY caught up just now --can you say 72 pages??-- and I have enjoyed your report so much. You really get it! Your food descriptions, the family time, the magic of Disney. I'm going to quote you to my DH as I continue to try to convince him that we should go to WDW again next Spring Break (and stay at CSR). Time is running out...our oldest starts high school next week and our DD is starting 7th grade! We have to have these trips now while the kids will still be seen in public with us! Sorry, I'm rambling, but you have really re-ignited my love of WDW! I can't wait to read about the rest of your trip. And continued success with BF Dawgs.....the menu looks amazing!!!

So true. My DH and I always tried to make time to take the kids on a family vacation every year and managed to get to WDW several times while they were growing up, even during the early, lean years! Didn't seem to take with DS but DD is a Disney nut and goes every opportunity while DS is working his life away watching his two DDs grow up! But I keep working on him!

Awww thanks. Our lives are so hectic on a day-to-day basis that we really relished those days together at WDW. I have two wonderful children...they are growing up TOOO fast! These last two trips to Disney have generated memories for all of us that will last a lifetime.

Oh, that would be awesome! You could do the Kim Possible Mission with them in the World Showcase, then take them for ice cream at B&C....and then finish the day with Illuminations. Great plan! And kudos to your husband for taking the oldest son to the basketball game. They would probably enjoy the ESPN Club at the Boardwalk Resort.
And how could I confuse you, Cara, with Kara?? :) Thanks for the "dad of the year" comment! I'm sure at this very moment Wil would definitely disagree with that statement. (He was caught texting in a classroom yesterday and I have taken away his cell phone....probably for a really long time.)

Hi Joan! It is a pleasure meeting you, and of course any friend of Ellen's is a friend of mine!
You definitely need to talk your DH into taking the kids to Disney. It will most likely be THE trip that your kids will always remember. My parents took me to the Magic Kingdom as a child, and I still have fond memories of that trip. We still talk about certain things from that trip, even to this day! I figure there are enough rough times in life....sometimes you need to have wonderful, memorable moments to remind you that life is good.
Thanks for the great wishes, and congrats on being part of the DISmoms trip next year!

After two straight days of having 'best days ever' we were ready for another great day! It was now Wednesday, the 6th day of our trip, and Friday is departure day. We had been saving this day to enjoy the waterparks. The rain had been constant, so we were hopeful that our waterpark plans weren't going to get washed away.
We had reservations for breakfast at Chef Mickey's, so once again we were up early to catch a bus to the Magic Kingdom, then take the monorail to the Contemporary.
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/06-001.jpg
Unlike the day before, on this day we caught a bus almost immediately.

We arrived at the monorail station, but the monorail was not running. So we waited. and waited. and waited.....finally, we figured we would just walk over to the Contemporary so we would not be late for our reservations.

and of course....wouldn't you know it....as soon as we started walking the monorail started working again!

Oh well....we probably needed to burn those extra calories anyway for the breakfast we were about to consume!
The skies were dark, but we were still hopeful of carry on with our plans to visit waterparks after breakfast.

Our day was off to a good, albeit a slow start. When we left breakfast, as we walked out of the Contemporary Resort, there was a bus heading to Disney's Hollywood Studios...so we figured we would go ahead and take it, then catch the bus from DHS back to Coronado Springs. By the time we got back to CSR, it was already 10:45 or so. As much as we enjoyed our experience at Chef Mickey's, it really took much longer than we anticipated. I'm really glad we got to go to Chef Mickey's for breakfast, but I probably wouldn't do it again UNLESS we were staying at one of the resorts on the monorail line.
Coming up next - Blizzard Beach!

We never eat a big breakfast when we're in WDW, (that's the meal we eat in the room to save some $$ and we just like the other meals better:)) so we've never been to any of these places for breakfast, although we do like Crystal Palace and Chef Mickeys for other meals- we will be going to CM's the night we check into BLT this fall. The boys requested it since we haven't been in a while, and we're all looking forward to it!:goodvibes
On a side note- it cracks me up that I come on here and see Joan (who, by the way, is the BEST!) having a conversation with you! I LOVE that Joan is loving the DIS!:yay: :yay: :yay: Worlds are colliding....and it's so cool!:cool1:

We finally arrived at Blizzard Beach around 11am. It looked like it might pour down rain any minute....but so far, so good. We figured we would just enjoy it while we could! If it happened to rain, hey, we were going to get wet anyway, right?
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/06-038.jpg
Wil and I had gone to Blizzard Beach by ourselves on last year's trip. This year, Elizabeth and Juliana went for the first time. After getting a locker rented, we got on the chair lift to the top of the 'mountain'.

Last year, Wil and I had a great time here, but I definitely seemed to like it better this year. Last year, we were very rushed and didn't have enough time to do everything. This year, we could just take it easy and enjoy it.
When we got to the top of the mountain, Wil continued on up the stairs to ride Slush Gusher, while Elizabeth, Juliana and I rode Teamboat Springs.

And yes, that was an obscure Seinfeld reference. ;)

Oh, what a great memory you have! You are ON THE SPOT correct about the floods that came at 2pm. This past chapter was prior to that time. Stay tuned...
Hi Alan !! Great review and update !!! We are doing Chef Mickey's for supper on the 19th!! I checked it out in May and the buffet looked GOOD!!!

We really had a great time at Blizzard Beach. Both last year and this year I wish we had built in more time for the waterparks.
I was soooo far behind. Such great updates. Loved em all-especially the MK ones. Fun fun.
Thanks, Mary! Hope all is well with you in AZ. Did you guys get any ill effects from that hurricane this week?
I agree...you can't let the rain stop you on your trip! You WERE getting wet anyway! You guys seemed to have a really good time!
It was typical Central Florida weather at this point: one minute it would be dark and sprinkling, and the next minute the sun would be out.
I enjoyed the water park pictures, it looked like everyone was having a fun time. I look forward to the rest. Maybe it is about time my DH and I try one of the water parks.
I've got several more water park pics to post in the next chapter, including a few from Typhoon Lagoon as well.

One thing I've got to mention that I absolutely LOVE about Blizzard Beach is the music they play!!! They play a combination of beachy music, like Jimmy Buffett and the Beach Boys, along with Christmas songs!! It is the coolest thing ever to be 85 degrees outside at a waterpark and humming along with songs like "Christmas Island." Great concept.
Next, we tackled the Toboggan Racers:

Finally, we ended up in the wave pool:
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/06-076.jpg
All in all, we had a GREAT time at Blizzard Beach! It was now getting close to 1pm, so we wanted to check out Typhoon Lagoon quickly before our 2:15pm lunch reservations at Raglan Road.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/06-084.jpg
All of the sudden, we heard thunder in the distance. A voice came across the waterpark's sound system announcing that all rides were closed until further notice. There was a mass exodus of people as the skies were really getting dark. We left the park and headed to Downtown Disney for our reservations at Raglan Road.
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/06-092.jpg
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/06-093.jpg
Okay....sorry folks....no cliff hangers here....we were not able to get ANY pictures from our lunch at Raglan Road because of the rain. I took a disposable camera that we had used at the waterparks to the restaurant with me instead of our digital cameras....and the indoor pictures did not turn out at ALL.
SO.....let me briefly tell you about Raglan Road. I SOOOOO loved this place! :cloud9: I started out with the beer flight. Elizabeth and I got the Dalkey Duo as an appetizer, which consisted of sausages and an Irish mustard. (We liked the mustard so much that Elizabeth came home, got on the Internet, and found out how to make it! We now serve that mustard at our restaurant!)
The REAL star of this meal though was the BREAD PUDDING. Oh my God! Seriously!!! I don't even like bread pudding....but this was fantastic!!
Really, really short version - Go to Raglan Road!! Get the bread pudding! :thumbsup2
While we were at Downtown Disney, the bottom fell out and the floods began. I'm talking about HARD rain...the kind that actually stings when it hits you. Following our lunch at Raglan Road, we were caught out in the rain...running for our lives back to our vehicle. Clearly, there wasn't going to be any more activities today. We drove back to Coronado Springs Resort and indulged in a rainy day nap.
Coming up next - going to dinner at California Grill (and yes, there will be pictures!)

I love the water parks. It surprises me how few people take advantage of them especially in the summer months. They are the best!
Love Julianna's hair. Did it cause her pain to get it braided? I was going to let the girls get their hair braided like that on our upcoming cruise but read too many horror stories about pain and crying.

HELLO DISers!!! I have totally missed this part of my life for the past month.
You all are SOOO loyal and friendly, I thought I would offer up an explanation for my absense. Fall is by far my busiest time of the year at work. I work as a special event planner at a university....and football season is when about 60% of all of my events occur. Also, our team started out the season by playing four games on the road, which meant I was gone for four straight weekends to away games. (By the way, we are a Division 1AA school, played Florida State and ALMOST beat them! We are currently ranked 12th in the nation in our division. But I digress...) Anyway, add that with the responsibility of owning a restaurant AND being a weekend musician....whew! Tracey (my best friend) and I performed this past weekend at the National Shrimp Festival in Gulf Shores, AL. It was awesome! I'll post a few pictures.
Anyway, that's my story and....well, you know the rest.
Now, as promised, I WILL finish this trip report! I believe we were getting ready to go to dinner at California Grill? New chapter will be coming up right after my National Shrimp Festival post.
Hope all is well with each of you and your families. God bless!

As many of you know, I am a musician on the weekends. My best friend and old college roommate, Tracey and I play as an acoustic duo. We have had some pretty cool gigs over the years: we played in Atlanta at the 1996 Olympics, we opened for Taylor Swift in 2007, and this past weekend we opened for LeAnn Womack on Friday and Foghat on Saturday at the National Shrimp Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama. What a cool gig! I had no idea that the festival was that big...they estimate that between Thursday and Sunday, they have 200,000 in attendance.
Anyway, I took a few pictures and thought I would share them. Also, I am a huge Jimmy Buffett fan and I got to eat at Jimmy's sister's restaurant, Lulu's. It was outstanding! I'm a freak for some good gumbo, and Lulu's delivered the goods. So....just because I love you all....I am including a food porn pic of the gumbo!

What great pictures of the festival and the beach. Never been to Gulf Shores even though it's only about a five hour drive from our house. Now, I need to add it to our "must see" places. Look at you....got your name on the sign and in the program! Cool!
Looking forward to seeing more California Grill pictures.

Our dinner at California Grill was fantastic again this year. The famous sushi chef, Yoshi came to our table and made a sushi recommenation. I do not remember what this was called, but it was absolutely outstanding. It had the fireball sauce with it, which I liked, but I did miss not having the wasabi/soy:

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/06-115.jpg
I absolutely love sushi and this was terrific...very different from what I am used to. Anyway, that being said, last year I order the Yoshi's Platter and it was to die for. On the deluxe dining plan, however, the Yoshi's platter is considered as an entree rather than an appetizer.....so this year I figured I would order a different sushi platter as an appetizer so that I could get a steak for my entree. I'm glad I did...but I still wish I could've had that Yoshi's Platter again - maybe next time!
Elizabeth ordered the Medusa roll (Soft Shell Crab). It was amazing!

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/06-117.jpg
Wil had a salad for his appetizer:
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/06-118.jpg
Juliana got a fruit platter. She was not very hungry at all....in fact, she was very sleepy at dinner.
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/06-119.jpg
Elizabeth and I both got the Oak-fired Filet of Beef. Last year, Elizabeth said it was the best steak of the entire trip. This year, I believe it was probably the best steak again.

Wil ordered the Soft Shell Crab. He liked it okay, but he wasn't very hungry either.

Before we could even order dessert, Juliana was literally asleep on the table.

Desserts at Cali Grill:
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/06-126.jpg
I was actually too full for dessert. Several days of eating on the Deluxe Dining Plan will cause you to turn down dessert!
Elizabeth and Wil both got the Trio of Temptation: Cheesecake with Pistachio cookie and Chocolate Banana Sauce, White Chocolate Mousse with Passion Fruit Puree, and Florida Strawberries with Mojito Sabyon. It was very good.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/06-128.jpg
Except for Juliana, we all loved being at California Grill again this year. We were a little disappointed that the weather was too bad to go out on the balcony and watch the fireworks. We really couldn't see them from where we were sitting....but after a long day of mostly rain, we were just content to stay in the dining room and enjoy some fabulous food.
After California Grill, we went back to our room and called it a day.

Anyway...that festival looked INCREDIBLE!! I wish i lived a LOT closer!! The beach looks alot like Destin, where my MIL lives- nice white powdery sand. And way to go playin' there!!
And calli grill- yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmo! I have been there twice and BOTH times I had to get that Spicy Kazan roll. I miss the wasabi/soy thing, too, though, but I love it all the same.

Hi Luis! Yep, I'm definitely a busy guy. I do my best to juggle my job, my restaurant, my musicianship, and my family. I've been playing music since I was 15, and it has always been a big part of my life. I really don't have any aspirations of "making it big" or anything....I just enjoy getting to perform with my best friend and getting paid for it! It is pretty much a win/win situation. Our c.d. is a long way from being ready, but I will definitely let everyone know when it is finished.
I didn't know you and Mercedes were sushi lovers! Living in North Alabama, good sushi is a real treat for me.
Hope all is well with you and your family. Tell everyone the Renfroe's say "hello!"

Hahahaha.....I'll have to tell Tracey you thought HE was a SHE!!! LOL! Nah, Tracey and I grew up about 8 miles from each other and we've been friends most of our lives. He is actually more like a brother than a friend. He was the best man at our wedding. We have a guest room at our house that is affectionately referred to as "Tracey's room." He's married with four children....so if it weren't for our gigs, we would never see each other!
Whoa! I've missed soooo much! I am definitely going to have to make time to check out your most recent trip reports!
Your MIL lives in Destin? Cool place! Gulf Shores, Alabama is about 80 miles West of Destin, and the beaches are virtually the same. I love the white sandy beaches of the Gulf of Mexico! It is my dream to live on the coast one day.
Glad to read that you love the spicy kazan roll too, but that you also miss the wasabi/soy. I wish you could get a small portion of spicy kazan roll on the Yoshi's Platter....that way you could have it all!
Hope all is well with you and your family. Tell Pods and the boys the Renfroe's said hello!
I'm glad to see you back. I had no idea that you were such a busy man. Your steak looks really good, but I can't agree with you about sushi. I am too picky to eat that.

Oh yeah, don't let me fool ya....I'm loving every minute of it. I think it would drive most people crazy to run at this pace, but it works for me. Besides, the restaurant is like a hobby for me. Some men fish, some men golf, some men hunt....I like to make hot dogs! :rotfl:
I can honestly say that California Grill has THE BEST sushi I've ever eaten anywhere. Next time, we will make an earlier reservation. Last year, our reservation was too early and this year it was too late. Poor Juliana: we were able to wake her up, but just barely! We all slept in the next morning.

Yep, that's Juliana! We have never, ever had to beg her to go to bed....she goes willingly! (She needs her beauty sleep....like her mother!)

Awww...thanks for the kind compliments! I wish I could say that we are always spending time together like that, but of course life gets in the way. My family is my priority, but it is difficult to spend enough time together when I am gone from home so much. Maybe that is one of the reasons our Disney trips have been so special. I am truly Clark W. Griswold!

Finally, on Day 7, we were able to sleep in! Juliana was so exhausted that she had fallen asleep at the dinner table the night before. Day 7 was basically unplanned; the only plans were our meal reservations. We had a late lunch scheduled at the Coral Reef at Epcot at 1:15pm and dinner at The Yachtsman Steakhouse at 7:45pm. Other than that, we didn't know what our day would be like!
About 9am, the kids and I were up and ready for the day. The three of us decided to drive to El Centro (the main building at Coronado Springs Resort) and have breakfast at the Pepper Market. Meanwhile Elizabeth stayed in the room to start doing some preliminary packing and cleaning the room. This was our next to last day, but we still had two full days of WDW left on our vacation.

If you remotely enjoy sushi, California Grill is AMAZING!
Oh, speaking of sushi, I have a neat story. Some of our regular customers at B.F. Dawgs came in one day this past week and ordered four plain hot dogs. They brought in a cooler of their own ingredients and made what they called a "Tokyo" dog. They ordered three of the dogs for themselves, and one for Elizabeth and I to try!! They gave her a bag of Uncle Ben's microwavable steamed rice to put in the microwave. Then, they put the rice on the hot dog, along with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger on top. I couldn't believe it.....it tasted great! We liked it so much that we are going to make it our December Dawg of the Month! It was like having sushi and hot dog all at the same time! Yes, definitely a weird combination....but I thought it was great!

Thanks for taking us on a walk around the CSR. The resort is beautiful.
I love, love, love CSR!! :lovestruc
You guys are so cute! I am so excited to go back to CSR next year! we <3 it too now!
Isn't it the greatest? I've stayed at much fancier places, but I think for a family trip at Disney World, it's hard to beat CSR. I'm glad you all enjoyed it as much as we did.
You guys are the coolest vacationers ever. I keep saying that we will have a sleep in day but it's hard for me to pull out of park mode. I keep thinking that the kids will be disappointed but you children don't. As a matter of fact, they look happy and well rested!! Oh, and that Skillet looks yummo! Is that cheese sauce? :thumbsup2
Well, let me tell you....it really is not my nature to just relax and have a sleep-in day at Disney. However, the rain was still going to be a factor on this day. Otherwise, we probably would have spent the day at Typhoon Lagoon. Oh well.....we figured Epcot would be pretty 'rain-friendly.' And you are definitely right.....the kids and I were well rested!

So will you name the new dawg after the customer if you decide to keep it on the menu?

Wow, been away for over a month and expected to take forever to catch up but, here I am. I just laughed out loud and my hubby asked "what?" Told him it was odd to see pics of CSR now that we've been there. We really liked our stay (09/27-10/04). We went commando with plans for every day. Came home absolutely exhausted. Since we had a deal on the room, no free dining for us. We opted for the quick service plan and that was plenty of food. Can't imagine the deluxe plan.

Well, I make it sound like we slept until sometime in the afternoon, but for us on this trip "sleeping in" meant getting up at 9am instead of 6am! I'm not going to waist those precious Disney hours!

I love the one-hour ahead method for packing!....uh....usually....but not so much for Disney. You know me....I'm a planner!
Oh, you bet we will name the new dawg after the customer! For example, the November Dawg of the month is going to be called the Couch potato. (One of our employees' last name is Couch, and the dawg she created is a Sour Cream Baked Potato Salad on top of a Bacon-Wrapped Dawg!)

Glad to hear you all enjoyed CSR. I think it is just so peaceful, and we love the pools. I particularly enjoyed the queen-sized beds this year.

After a late start to our day, we were off to Epcot. This was another first for us - we decided to drive instead of taking the bus. We got there MUCH faster. This was a view of Epcot I had not had before:

The skies were really dark again on this day....but so far, no rain.

You may recall that on our earlier visit to Epcot, Wil was really wanting to see The Universe of Energy. Well, as promised, we decided to go there first.

I know there are a lot of people who do not care for this attraction, but we actually really enjoyed it! I think it was one of those attractions that we weren't really expecting to like, then became pleasantly surprised. It is a very LONG attraction, however.
Next, we all went to Mission Space and rode twice!

After that, we went to get FastPasses for Test Track. Fortunately, we didn't have to wait too long.
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-044.jpg
In the meantime, we decided to check out some of the displays within InnoVentions:

Think of it like visiting a museum but with a little more ummph. There is enough comedy and drama, not to mention motion, that should keep a 5-year-old entertained. My advice to someone who has never been to Epcot and only has one day to tour: I would skip it. However, if you have two days for Epcot, Universe of Energy is certainly worth your time. Frankly, I liked it much better than Honey I Shrunk The Audience and The Seas with Nemo and Friends.

Hi Mary! At this point, we don't know when we'll be going back. Elizabeth wants to go for her 40th birthday, which will be in early 2012. The kids both want to go somewhere different on vacation next summer, but we don't know where. (A cruise, perhaps.) Also, we are thinking about going to the beach for Thanksgiving next year. (We did this back in Nov., 2004 and LOVED it.) All that being said, Elizabeth and I are really, really, really wanting to go back to WDW....soon. She and I would love to do an 'adults only' trip and stay at the Boardwalk or somewhere like that. I'm saving pennies and earning those Disney Dollars on my Visa as fast as I can!

Hi, Alan. I was so glad to see your update and to see that I wasn't too far behind. But I'm all caught up now and see that you didn't get too far so I was able to catch up with one of my fav families. :)

Oh, absolutely. I would go again and again and again to Coronado Springs. We drive down from Alabama and the way we come into Disney, CSR is the first resort you come to. It wouldn't feel right for us to have to drive past CSR and stay somewhere else! Also, we LOVE the queen-sized beds.

I know what you mean about work....and life in general! I very very rarely have any time for myself these days.
Don't know about 2010 just yet. Financially, it isn't looking good. Juliana needs braces this spring and we've got some loans to pay off due to starting our own business....so we may be looking at doing a "staycation" this year by just doing some local things.

10-30-2009, 04:59 PM
By this time we were all ready for lunch. In our planning, I really wanted to try Biergarten.....but Juliana really wanted us to try the Coral Reef. (She thought the aquarium dining room was neat!) Even though we had read mixed reviews, we decided to give it a try.
I think that particially because my expectations were not high or particially because we were so hungry, we were pleasantly surprised with our meal at Coral Reef.

The bread was delicious with the olive oil/balsamic vinegar
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-064.jpg
Elizabeth and I split the Appetizer for Two, which included Scallops, Sea & Land (shrimp and beef skewers) and creamy lobster soup. Everything was delicious - just wish there had been a little more of it.
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-066.jpg
Wil had the Sea & Land:
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-065.jpg
Juliana had the Creamy Lobster Soup. (I think I ended up eating hers! It was sooooo good!)
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-067.jpg
For our entrees, Elizabeth had the Grilled Mahi Mahi with spicy pineapple chutney over rice. She loved it!
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-069.jpg
Wil had the Pan-seared Tilapia served over a white and green bean salad tossed in a tomato vinaigrette. Very good.

Juliana had the kid's cheese pizza:

Juliana had the Ice Cream Sundae:
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-077.jpg
I had the Bailey's and Jack Daniel's Mousse topped with a ganache an chocolate cigar. It was AWESOME!

Overall, I'm glad we were on the Deluxe Dining Plan or this meal would've been very expensive. If you are on the dining plan, this is a great value for one table service credit. I don't know if it would be worth the prices if you are paying out of pocket.
Anyway, we very much enjoyed our lunch at Coral Reef.
Up next: more Epcot fun and later, our anniversary dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse.

That sounds like a crazy, yet strangely appealing combo! I love that your customers are comfortable enough to do that. :thumbsup2 Very cool!
Great update too! I've been reading more and more positive reviews of Coral Reef, I wonder if they are stepping it up after so many poor reviews?

Luis.
P.S. Love the small plastic dolphins...
We certainly did enjoy the ambiance. Epcot is such a HUGE park, and Coral Reef provides a nice oasis to sit down and relax in a cool Disneyesque setting while enjoying some really good food! Hope all is well with you and your family Luis! Tell everyone the Renfroes say "hello!"
Hi Luis !!
Alan great update !! I don' t remember them having the catfish on the dinner menu as I also wanted to try it!! No Southern Belle here :rotfl2:but I do love me some G:laughing:rits !!!!
Gotta love grits!!! I was extremely pleased with my dish.
We were not thrilled with Coral Reef when we went last time. But, after looking at your pictures, it looks like it is worth trying again! Glad you enjoyed your meal!
Don't get me wrong, it certainly wasn't anywhere near the best meal on our trip...but we did enjoy Coral Reef - the food, the ambiance, the whole experience. Oh, and we had really good service also.
I would have ordered the catfish, too- just for those grits- they sounded DELICIOUS!!!! I think I'm going to do DDxP next Sept with Pods- and I will definitely put Coral Reef on the list for lunch! :thumbsup2 Great review!!
Oh, that pepperjack cheese really kicked the grits up a notch and brought out the spices on the fish. It was yummy! Out of pocket, our meal would have definitely been pricey...but on the dining plan we thought it was a great deal.
Your meals at CR look yummy. I'm glad you tried it! The skies sure do look ominous and I see Will has the poncho on in one picture. Hope the rain doesn't damper your spirits!
Can't wait to hear your thoughts on Yachtsman! popcorn::
Hi Christine! Yeah, that darn rain was a factor for pretty much the rest of our stay....but we carried on like good little campers! ;)
coral reef was one of my favorites. Our service was just okay but it was a great break in the day. We were on the first tier, the view was great. Those deserts were so filling. I'm laying out our meals for next trip and it is hard not to do the DxDP again just to get these grear meals.
I know what you mean about the DxDP. It really is too much food. Really, really. BUT, for foodies like us....we thought it was a first class way to spoil ourselves. I've said it before and I think it bares repeating: I don't think the Deluxe Dining Plan is as much about saving money as it is about having sort of an "all-inclusive" type of experience. We LOVED being on the plan, and now that we are spoiled to it, it would be terribly hard to go to WDW and NOT be on the plan.
Somehow, I got two updates behind but am all caught up now. We really enjoy Ellen's Universe of Energy too.
I am glad that you enjoyed your meal at Coral Reef. We've eaten dinner there twice and everything was delicious. I think our favorite are the pepper jack cheese grits!
Yeah, the cheese grits were great....they provided a nice alternative to all of the other meals on the trip.
I am so slow in catching up on everyone's reports (youngest son's car was smashed--thankfully, he was not in it) and dealing with getting him a rental, insurance, has been a nightmare (plus hubby's medical issue).
Great update, Alan. We've not done Coral Reef in like 12 years; we've been talking about going back when we are on the dining plan.
Hi Kathy! Sorry to hear about the car, but thankfully he's okay.
That sounds like a crazy, yet strangely appealing combo! I love that your customers are comfortable enough to do that. :thumbsup2 Very cool!
Great update too! I've been reading more and more positive reviews of Coral Reef, I wonder if they are stepping it up after so many poor reviews?
Hi Brook! Hope all is well with you and your family.
We definitely have some cool customers at B.F. Dawgs! I think everyone gets into the spirit of being creative when it comes to hot dogs. They are basically a blank canvas! Our Dawg of the Month for November is called "the Couch Potato." We wrap a piece of thick-sliced Hormel Bacon around a bun-length all-beef dawg, deep fry it, then top it with our Sour Cream based Baked Potato Salad. It's really good!
I wondered the same thing about Coral Reef. I was very leary about eating there, and I probably would have dropped the ADR if Juliana had not been so persistent about eating there. I figured it was her vacation too, right?
New update coming up.

After a surprisingly wonderful lunch at Coral Reef, we decided to go to Living with the Land. This was another attraction that we had never experienced.
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-080.jpg
I must say, I think we ALL enjoyed this attraction very much! Again, it was one of those things that certainly was not a 'must-do' for us...and we ended up finding it very interesting and educational. (I must be getting older, because I really enjoy these slow-moving boat rides!)
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-081.jpg
I think part of our enjoyment of this ride was the fact that a lot of the food we had at lunch is grown right here at Epcot. It was like "here is the stuff you have just eaten!"

Sustainable fish - up close and personal - makes me feel not so guilty about that catfish I just had for lunch! I like the sustainable concept.

I just started reading your trip report and I love it! I wanted to comment that my mom and I were in the world on the exact dates you were, and just happened to be eating at Les Chefs de France on the day of the DIS meet at the exact time. When we came out of the restaurant, I had noticed the sea of green shirts. This was obviously before I became an active DIS member, but I love it! Such a small world.

We are having a great time with the hot dog biz! It's a lot of work, but we hope it will all be rewarding in the years to come. Hope you all have a GREAT time! I'd love to try Restaurant Marrakesh sometime also, but I don't think the kids would like it. Have a great trip!

How cool is that? I'll bet you guys thought we were crazy with that sea of lime green shirts, huh? I've never eaten at Les Chefs. (Elizabeth think we'll save that one for a "grown-ups only" trip in the near future!)
Congrats on becoming an active DIS member. This is the coolest place ever for all things Disney. Fortunately, we were told that before our first trip we would need to do some research on WDW before going. Once I found the DIS boards, it helped us see the big picture....and I think we have fully enjoyed our experiences because of the knowledge we've gained from the DIS. Next time we meet, we'll have you in one of those lime green shirts as well!

It's amazing how much time you can manage to spend on the boards prior to your trip but when you get back, life happens. Have so enjoyed your family's vacation. I researched a lot ahead of our Sept/Oct trip and am really glad that I did. Our upcoming trip will not require any research as we will be in "camping" mode. It's all good since we're at Disney.:banana::banana:

I really thought this would be one of those slow-moving rides that was really boring. Call me a nerd, but I thought it was very interesting...and the kids even liked it!
I am another huge fan of living with the land!! Great pics!
I would have to say that Living with the Land is a great down-time ride from all of the thrill rides. Frankly, we liked it MUCH better than Honey I shrunk the Audience and The Seas with Nemo and Friends. It was educational, but not boring.

Research makes ALL the difference in the world, doesn't it? If I ever speak to a family that has gone to Disney but didn't have a great time, MOST of the time it was due to poor planning. You'll see families walking through the parks in a daze wondering where to meander next, and amazed by the size of the crowds. With a little research, you can plan WHAT you want to do and WHEN to do it. We are still big proponents of making ADRs at the restaurants. I remember everyday about lunch time we would see people standing in LONG lines for overpriced burgers and fries. We felt like VIPs when we would walk into the restaurants with reservations and are seated within just a few minutes!

On our last trip to Disney World, we had dined at the Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club and loved it! We were very excited about dinner this evening, since this was going to be our official anniversary celebration.

Before we even had an opportunity to order a drink, we were called to our table. It was a lovely table and I could tell the service was going to be first class again this year, just like last year.
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-109.jpg
Decisions, decisions! I couldn't make up my mind about what to order. I was disappointed that the chateaubriand we had last year was no longer on the menu. While we were making up our minds, we ordered drinks. Elizabeth got the Long Island Iced Tea:
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-111.jpg
I had a margarita of some sort, but I don't remember what kind of margarita. It was completely delicious!!! Perhaps too much so!

We started with our appetizers. Wil ordered the Seared Maine Diver Scallops:
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-115.jpg
Uh....I think he like it!
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-116.jpg
Last year, I had the Chilled Seafood Salad and absolutely LOVED it. I convinced Elizabeth to order it this year also. Once again, it was divine:
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-117.jpg
Juliana had a bowl of chicken soup
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-118.jpg
Meanwhile, I had another margarita. yum!
For my entree, I was really disappointed that they no longer had the Chateaubriand on the menu. From looking at the menu, it appeared that their latest signature dish was a Cowboy Steak - a 20oz. bone-in Ribeye. I love Ribeye....it is generally my favorite steak. However, to be perfectly honest, this Ribeye just wasn't worth $47.00. It was big, but it was a little tough.
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-119.jpg
The mushrooms on the side, however, were wonderful!
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-120.jpg
Elizabeth ordered the Filet Mignon with Mashed Potatoes. The steak was really good, but the potatoes were...and I can't believe I'm saying this....a little too cheesy! They were good, but they were heavy on the cheese.
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-122.jpg
In my opinion, Wil's entree stole the show. He ordered the Rack of Lamb. It was absolutely outstanding!
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-123.jpg
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-124.jpg
Since will had gotten pretty full from eating his entire appetizer, he let me have most of his rack of lamb. After eating only about 1/4 of my Cowboy Steak, I abandoned it and ate the Rack of Lamb instead. Wow!
Juliana had the oak-grilled steak. (She's not really much of a steak eater, but she did eat a little.)
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-125.jpg
In the meantime, I ordered yet another margarita. They were Sooooo good!
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-126.jpg
We were all having a great time!
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-127.jpg
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-128.jpg
For dessert, Elizabeth had the Trio of Valrhona Chocolate. It was outstanding!
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-129.jpg
Wil had the Yachtsman Sundae. OMG! I think I "helped" him a little with this one!
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-131.jpg
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-132.jpg
I had the Artisanal Cheese Platter. I enjoyed it very much.
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-134.jpg
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-135.jpg
Juliana had the Mickey & Minnie Dessert Puzzle. It was cute!
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-136.jpg
Ummmm.....I think I ordered another margarita at this point! (I ended up having 5 of them. They were so good, and I having a great time!)
Our server was wonderful and he brought us some complimentary truffles to celebrate our anniversary. Nice touch!
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/07-138.jpg
Overall, we absolutely loved our dinner at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. The only negative thing I have to say was that the "signature" cowboy steak was tough....and definitely not worth $47. The Rack of Lamb, however, was $33 and worth every penny. The appetizers were great, the desserts were great, and the service was outstanding. I think the Yachtsman Steakhouse is now permanently on our 'must do' list of restaurants.
After our amazing dinner, we made our way back to Coronado Springs Resort on our last night before leaving. But we still had a full day left! Coming up - our last day at Disney - Hollywood Studios - Star Wars Weekend - and Downtown Disney!

glad to have read your review of yachtmans. we went last year and mostly liked the food, but had bad service and it was FREEZING in the restaurant! So much so that they were handing out tablecloths as blankets for women in dresses! NO, I am not joking. It was so cold none of us could eat, the waitress dropped food and silverware on me, Johns steak was RAW, not rare, RAW! so the experience wasn't great, but we could tell had everything gone right it would have been the best meal of the trip! lol! Your review has now made me doubly sure and it is def on our must do for our next trip!

Wil has always been pretty adventurous with food - but here's the weird thing...he doesn't like simple, basic stuff! We own a hot dog restaurant and Wil won't eat a hot dog! Have you ever heard of a kid that doesn't like hot dogs?
Oh, there is NO DOUBT that the Deluxe Dining plan is toooo much food. It really does feel like a waste....but we do love that VIP treatment. We are both fans of Food Network, Top Chef, etc.....and we really have an appreciation for fine dining. We had like a gajillion snack credits left on our last day also....but I am getting ahead of myself!
COOL! So glad you all loved Narcoossee's. That is a really nice place, isn't it?
Our steaks were tough there, too. We had NY Strips. Hmmmmmm...... Love that you had 5 Ritas- but you're a big boy, I'm thinkin' you can handle it! :rotfl:
Oh yeah....you know I can handle it Ellen!
That Thong Wearing Brazillian can handle anything!!!!
Darn skippy!!! And don't forget it!
glad to have read your review of yachtmans. we went last year and mostly liked the food, but had bad service and it was FREEZING in the restaurant!
Wow, what a rotten experience you all had! Isn't that wild how some people can go on different nights and have a totally different experience? What was up with the air conditioning when you all were there? You would think that if they had to hand out tablecloths as blankets, that might be a SIGN! DUH! I am surprised to hear that your service wasn't good. That has been the thing I most remembered about our experience.
Hmmm...that's probably true....but, I still wonder- how many margaritas does it take for him to sport a tutu? :confused3 :rotfl2:
Uh......6? maybe 7! ;)
i have brain freeze...you guys did the DDXP right?
Yep, DDXP all the way. As most people on the DIS will tell you, it is WAY too much food....but it is absolute heaven to treat yourself! Save your calorie counting for another time!

Alan, it is TOO much food, but I agree 100% that we love the vipness of it! We do however use all of our snack credits lol! Even just as gifts for teachers at home! Not a waste in my book! with saying that, we do the dxdp so it's not to much food! We only do 2 meals a day and it works out great!

I should correct myself. service wasn't terrible..other than her dropping stuff on me. she was VERY nice, just VERY slow and seemed flustered and idk clueless? but nice none the less!

okay glad I'm not the only one who thinks it is a lot of food. but you are all right, I love being able to try a bit of everything. I'm laying out our dining for our next trip now. I need to show the DH how it all will break down.
I was shocked how we went thru the snack credits. I would run down and grab the pop tarts and coffee to hold everyone over until we got to our early morning ressies. It really helped. But even then we were heading home with extras.
Do you think Cali Grill would be too much for a 8 and 3 yr old? that's the one I really want to do but I'm kind of worried it might be too dressy for them. My DD3 is a great eater. She loves sushi.
love the updates. It makes waiting for for my trip soooo much easier.

I just couldn't help myself! Those margaritas were SOOOO good! You would think that I had never had a margarita before in my life.....but I guess I was just in the mood that night.
Wil has always been pretty adventurous with food - but here's the weird thing...he doesn't like simple, basic stuff! We own a hot dog restaurant and Wil won't eat a hot dog! Have you ever heard of a kid that doesn't like hot dogs?

I have a niece and nephew that won't eat hot dogs. I'm sure part of it is because Den (DH) has made stories since they were young about what's in them.
Ohhhh we love though shows too! I wish my stomach could handle more. I should be a fine diner but was thrown a digestive curve ball. :rotfl:
Narcoossee's is fantastic. Everything about it. From my very short mil loving the bar setup to the fantastic food and it not feeling so "siganture" that it felt like we didn't belong.

Most of the time we only had two meals each day also - we just ended up using 2 credits on the signature dinners. We are seriously considering doing just the regular dining plan next time.....but we'll see! We certainly do love the deluxe plan!
Oh, and you ROCK too! :hippie:

Most of the snack credits we used before the last day were on sodas, bottled waters, etc. Oh, and we also used them on pastries at the resort. So much food.....must....go....on.... (it's a good thing we did all that walking all week long!)
Oh, I think California Grill is a MUST, especially if the 3-yr-old likes sushi. Try to get ressies early enough to have dinner, then watch the Wishes fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom from the observation deck connected to Cali Grill. That was one of our most memorable "Disneyesque" moments. California Grill is kid-friendly....not too stuffy. My children loved it. However, I will say that I recall their kids menu being somewhat limited.

I like tequila, but I rarely drink it. I suppose that's because I like a good margarita every now and then. Generally, I am a draft beer guy....or bourbon & coke.
All of those stories about what is in hot dogs! LOL!! I'm sure there are some truths to that, but at our restaurant we serve only all-beef products made from 100% beef and no fillers. Essentially, it is like hamburger meat that is pureed, molded into casings, and smoked.
You are totally right about Narcoossee's. To me, the Grand Floridian seems a little stuffy, but not Narcoossee's. It is Wil's favorite place at all of Disney World.

We woke up on Day 8 with the realization that it was finally here: our last day at Disney. :sad1: This had been such a wonderful family vacation that none of us were ready to see it end. However, we still had a full day to spend and we were going to take full advantage of it!
Here is the proverbial picture of the door to our room:

Here is a family not ready to leave Disney World:

The skies were still dark and there was a light rain. We got up early to pack up and get an early start. We wanted to get to Disney's Hollywood Studios before rope drop at 9am. We had plenty of time, so we drove to the El Centro section of Coronado Springs Resort and decided to have breakfast at Maya Grill.
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/alan_renfroe/WDW09/08-010.jpg
The breakfast buffet was adequate, but nothing special.

The only thing that was really great about this breakfast was that it was convenient. We walked right in, no waiting, and ate from the buffet. It was fine, but nothing special.
We took a few more pictures around CSR before leaving our WDW "home."

I love the breakfast buffet idea. It is such a pain at the value resorts to wait in 2 or 3 lines to get your food at breakfast. I can't wait to hear about the last day.

When we first planned our trip, I had no idea that the last day of our vacation would be the first day of Star Wars Weekends at Disney's Hollywood Studios! I think we found out around February or March that the Star Wars Weekends would begin on the Friday we would be there. Wil and I were thrilled, because Star Wars and The Clone Wars are something he and I share in common. We religiously watch the Clone Wars as our 'guy bonding' time at home.
We arrived on Friday morning around 8:45am and there was already a HUGE crowd.

Once the ropes dropped, most people headed either toward Toy Story Mania or the Star Tours area to see the Star Wars characters. Wil and I decided to go to Rock N' Roller Coaster and the Tower of Terror. Meanwhile, Elizabeth and Juliana walked towards Toy Story Mania. They would try to get FastPasses for later, then Juliana wanted to do the Magic of Disney Animation.
Anyway, Wil and I had a blast! We ended up riding RNRC twice and Tower of Terror once.

Hello everyone! So sorry to go so long without an update - life is just soooo busy right now! Anyway, I hope you all had a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving! Now.....back to the trip report:
While Wil and I rode Tower of Terror and Rock 'N Roller Coaster twice, Elizabeth and Juliana were doing their own thing. Based on Cammie's trip report with her daugher, Lauren, Juliana had been wanting to go to the Magic of Disney animation.....so Elizabeth and Juliana, after getting FastPasses for Toy Story Mania, went to that attraction:

After that, the four of us all met back up and rode The Great Movie Ride:

After the ride, we just sort of walked around a bit enjoying different Star Wars characters as they roamed throughout the park. I thought this was cool: Jedi Mickey!
