Ooh baby I cannot wait...do they have a sauna and such that I can use? I totally forgot to ask the girl, she did tell me that I did not have to bring anything except my room key!.....I figure I can stay there until 6-7 or so and just veg out!
They should have a sauna ... more than one actually. I've never used the sauna at the WDW Mandara but have used it over at the Portofino Bay Mandara and it was bliss. They have this incredible Balinese style relaxation area with loungers, and sofas, and tea ... you could stay there all day if you wanted to. I'm so envious ... you will love it. And try the hot stone massage ... one of my favorite treatments. :thumbsup2

I hope you have a great spa day!! Sounds way better then another day at the office
I thought they checked resort ID's at YC/BC pool.
.
I probably shouldn't say this, but they check your room key when you get a towel. We walked right in without anyone asking a question (yes, we were staying there). I've never had anyone ask for my room key on the numerous instances I've stopped at Hurricane Hannahs for a fabulous mai tai and found a lounge chair to enjoy it in. I find it aggravating that people do that, but what can you do :confused3

Oooh A day at the spa while your man is off working to pay for it. Now that is my idea of heaven. :cloud9:
Enjoy your day of pampering.
We have an ADR for Tutto in August. I am pretty sure I read a review of yours in the past and that is why I have the ADR, but I am still looking forward to hearing about it.

I was thinking of asking if you'd check out the Falafal Wrap if you walked by Morocco, I didn't see it on the last menu I saw posted and hoped it was an oversight - but you already confirmed that it is CHANGED! arrrrgg. Sometimes they just shouldn't mess with things!
Glad you guys are feeling better! Enjoy your solo day, sometimes it is fun to be on your own in WDW for a while, and it looks like you have a great day planned.

You showed food porn of many of my favorite places. :lovestruc
I'm jonesing for some Tangierine Cafe now.
But I'm thrilled you had a great dinner at Todd English's bluezoo™! I had very little doubt! I'm sad that you can't be there on 10/16 with us. While Jay was in alt over the suckling pig, my eyes went "gah-OO-gah!" over the Chocolate Melange dessert. It made my dessert (the warm chocolate cake) sound so plain and insignificant! I'm hoping it's still on the menu, but I won't hold my breath.
I'm also jealous of your spa day. My only spa day was Labor Day, 2000. I only remember it because I called it my anti-Labor Day. GF Spa. I enjoyed it, but I think I'd like to try Mandara. I just don't have the time. :lmao:

And a few pics from the candy store in Germany! I found the gingerbread men and asked if they were fresh and soft, when I bought one in March it was dry and stale. The CM said they were so we bought one, inhaled it and then bought 8 to put in my tupperware and take home with us...the CM said he never saw anyone buy that many before but I told him he never met ME before ha ha!
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanMonday031.jpg
Hooray!!! I'm so glad you managed to track down the beloved gingerbread Mickey! Please have one for me. :woohoo:
Your reviews are great, BTW. So informative and despcriptive, and the pictures are fantastic. My list of places/things that I'd like to try is growing exponentially. I'm definitely going to have a Peach Snap (or six) on our upcoming trip. 50's Prime Time was never somewhere I considered trying until I read your reviews, but you make it sound so darn good! I doubt we'll manage to snag a ressie this close to our trip, but I guess one can always hope for a cancellation. And BlueZoo? Wow. We'll be staying at the Dolphin for the first few days so maybe we'll have to swing by while we're there. Thanks for helping to broaden my dining horizons!
Have a great solo day tomorrow and enjoy your pampering at the spa!

Okay MickeyNicki, I was wondering if you could do me a favor. Could you please permanently move to WDW and post daily reviews for the rest of your life (or mine)? I look forward to reading your reviews daily! I am really looking forward to tonight's FF review as we will be dining there on our August trip.

Thanks I plan on having a wonderful relaxing day and finish it off with a nice drink and dinner!
Thanks again. You're the best!!
Happy to help!

Ooh you are making this sound so perfectly wonderful! I have never had the stone massage before but always wanted to try it, 20% off has a way of pushing a girl to the edge!
I hope you have a great spa day!! Sounds way better then another day at the office

Yes I agree, a day at Epcot and the Spa is much better than sitting behind a desk! All the years we have stayed deluxe resorts we have never been room key carded, the towels are not manned by any CM, you just take them as you need them...maybe they should start to do that!
Oooh A day at the spa while your man is off working to pay for it. Now that is my idea of heaven. :cloud9:
Enjoy your day of pampering.

Why they keep messing with things I will never know.....I was in love with the original falafel but now, no thanks! Getting ready to head out right now!
Hey Nicki, I hear that they are no longer serving pot stickers or noodles at O'hana. If you are over that way could you check on this. You are our insider link...
I dont think we are headed back that way ..... bummer! I tried to snap a pic of the menu the other day but there was such a mob scene in front of Ohana I couldnt get near it!
I'm definitely going to have to try Blue Zoo and I'm seriously considering spending an entire day at the France bakery!
That would be fun!

Rosie girl, that BlueZoo is FANTASTIC! You know what, when you are there make sure you order an extra dessert for me, but I will not be there so you guys will have to share it! :rotfl:
I am feeling so happy about my spa day, a bit guilty .... but more happy! :yay:

I am going to BWI Bakery for breakfast and then making the mad dash to Soarin!
Hope to catch up with you after my spa vist and before we head out to dinner....its gonna be a late night so wait up!

WOW Nicki!!! Love the review of Bluezoo! (bet they aren't on the DDP, right?)... I might have to take Cait. over for a splurge on our "off ddp" days. We're also very excited about Tangerine Cafe (Cait. loves the couscous!) I'm so glad you found the gingerbread mickeys! They look TDF!!!! I was eyeing the cheese plate at France... love that w/a baguette!... that's my kind of YUM!
I've got the list of drinks going... don't forget to get another welsh dragon (you need a matching set of glasses!)
Can't wait to hear about your spa experience! I love massages! very relaxing! Have a fun day!!!

I really want to try Blue Zoo now. I wish is its on the DDP. OH well, I guess next time we stay with our DVC we will try it. As for teh Gingerbread men in Germany. My DH loves them, I think the most we bought was 5 at one time! He is very picky and they have to be soft gingerbread.
I can't wait for your review of Tutto. I am debating if we should do lunch or dinner there in Sept. THe last time we were there was when it was Alfredo's.

Thanks for the reviews, they are great as usual. :worship::worship: I was glad to see that Calf Grill was still so good. DH just agreed that we could go back next Sept 2010 for free dining and my bday and we decided to stay at WL which is our dream resort. We tried several new ADRs during our trip in Dec after reading your reviews and now it looks like we might have a few more to try. Hope you had a good day at the spa, it is so nice to be spoiled.

Ok, I'm finally caught up. Stupid computer router wasn't working so my internet was very flaky yesterday :sad2:
CHELLE! I missed you and I am so sorry that we did not connect...yesterday morning was not what we thought it would be. How was the cruise? Did you have a great time and eat alot? Cannot wait to hear all about it!
I was so sorry I missed you and even more sorry to hear about your ND meal :scared1: The cruise was awesome!!! I ate a ton, drank my share :rolleyes1 and had a wonderful time
Good morning, friend. Hope you guys had a restful night. I say you should do Tutto because I know it is a fav of yours and you know you like the food.
I really think the resorts need to start doing different colored key cards for resorts and then making you show them NO MATTER WHAT RESORT you are staying at for pool privileges. It is unbelievable what people will do. My oldest DS and his girlfriend are going next month and they are staying at the CBR (not happy with this...but they really didn't have a choice) and she asked if pool hopping was allowed. I told her no. She said she didn't think so but wanted to ask before she tried to go elsewhere (I guess the pirate theme just isn't doing it for a 21-year old :rotfl:).
Anxious for the next set of reviews. And still waiting for that cell number to put in my phone for the next time you scare the crap out of us.
Just wanted to mention a couple of things about this: During our training last week/weekend, we were specifically told to make sure our clients know that pool hopping is not allowed (except sister resorts) and that they are really about to crack down on it. People may still get away with it during slower times when CM's overlook it, but when it gets busy; watch out.
Also, I'm uploading my pics now. We did a site inspection and toured the Pirate & Nemo rooms at CBR. They're very cool!
Oh girl, you better get a full bottle and a glass...plenty of ice too
:rotfl2: I think I'll wait till tonight to start drinking that heavily :lmao:
Tomorrow is my solo day and I have changed my plans a scazillion times but I have finally decided what I am going to do. I will make it to Epcot at rope drop and I am going to see every single ride and show and Innoventions thing there is to see...by 3pm ha ha! I want to see the Norway, France, China and Canada shows...never did see them so this will be a treat. I will probably eat breakfast at the BW Bakery and then have lunch for one at Tutto Italia and of course drinks and drinks and maybe a snack or two...without DH to share it with I dont know how much I can handle.
Then I have a spa day set for the Mandara Spa, at BlueZoo tonight they gave me 20% off any services and items at the spa since I dined onsite for dinner. Then I get back to the room and there is a message saying the spa is giving $59 facials and massages but they are only tasters and for 25 minutes so DH said that he knew we were going to stay a few extra days he wants to treat me to a spa day! So I have an afternoon appt for a facial and 75 minute stone massage! I am so excited! Then we will have a late dinner at Flying Fish...he probably will not get back until after 7 so this will work out great!
If any of you guys see a wandering woman without a clue as to what to do next, with a huge grin on her face, camera in one hand and a boozy concoction in the other, well that will be me..come on over and say hi!
Love it! That sounds so wonderful (especially the boozy concoction and spa part) :thumbsup2
They have this incredible Balinese style relaxation area with loungers, and sofas, and tea ... you could stay there all day if you wanted to. I'm so envious ... you will love it.
That sounds like the Rainforest Room on the Wonder :cool1: I got a day pass to try that and it was :cloud9:
I hope you have a great spa day!! Sounds way better then another day at the office

SAB often uses wristbands and we were told during our training this week that they will continue to do that and to expect to see that at more of the resorts.

Hi! I am back from my day at Epcot, needed to cool off before heading to the spa.
First thing this morning I walked to the BWI Bakery, no lines, no one on the boardwalk....here is the view from my outside little table.
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanTuesday001.jpg
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanTuesday003.jpg
I decided on a tomato, cheese and egg croissant and a bottle of Evian..at the last minute I spotted a Mickey shaped small blueberry muffin so I ordered that too. The croissant sandwich was great, the croissant itself was not greasy, the eggs were fluffy but what made the sandwich was the thick red delish tomato..it was incredible!
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanTuesday005.jpg
The muffin was not what I thought I was going to get...for one thing it looked like this:
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanTuesday004.jpg
ICK BLECH UGH! It was so darn greasy and gross .... who would want to eat this? Well I can tell you, the birds, they attacked the crap outta me and basically took off with the entire muffin!
Then I walked to Epcot and now they let you in early and you walk all the way to the Refreshment Port close to Le Cellier and rope drop you from there. I made it to Soarin, it had a 30 minute wait already so I grabbed my FP and took a pic of the menu for Garden Grill and the breakfast at Sunshine Seasons

If you guys every get the chance you have got to see the fish feeding second floor at the Nemo show building....it is sooo cool! There are 4 or 5 people in the tank feeding the huge sea turtles, sting rays, fish etc...it is amazing to watch!
The park was a nightmare, just packed to the gills with people, and soo freaking hot I was losing my mind, I think I bought 4 bottles of water in less than an hour. Right at 11am I started towards the countries, that thinned the crowd out alot. Since we were just there yesterday there are a ton of "Under Renovation" stuff up all over Epcot.
Here are pics of the dinner menu to Le Cellier... Could not get lunch because a barricade was blocking it

I started getting hungry around noon and I was close to Tutto Italia so I thought maybe I could get in early...I was right, they sat me right away, and the place was packed!
After this meal I am complete hooked on Tutto, dont care how much it is I love this place...the service on the other hand...you can be cute and you can be nice, you can be smart but why cant you be all three?? Cuz I am solo? Well my waiter, Francesco, was giving me the super rush job, irritated me to know end, walked away as I was speaking to him, forgot to give me back my AP (for the discount) and blamed me on dropping it, gave me the dessert menu and the bill at the same time??, overcharged me $1 for the salad and didnt take off the 10% on the dessert....I was not happy with the service but loved the food and the ambiance.

I was so darn hot I needed a drink ASAP so I ordered the Primavera, very cold, not too sweet and had a nice kick...I had another one when my entree was delivered.....too small for $10 but right then I wasnt complaining!
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanTuesday029.jpg
Fresh olive oil, bread basket with rustic bread, bread sticks and a cracker like thing were delivered promptly (by someone else) and it was good but I just had a nibble of all three, didnt want to fill up. There was a little pot of olives, nice and salty and tangy and tender meat on the stone....beware of the pit.
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanTuesday028.jpg
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanTuesday027.jpg
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanTuesday026.jpg
I didnt want to eat heavy and I wanted a salad..my server said the sandwiches do not come with anyting so I ordered the mixed greens salad with thin sliced roasted zucchini (on the bottom), it was spicy and light and fresh and delish...I swear it was the best salad ever.
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanTuesday030.jpg
I decided on the PLT Panini, with prosciutto and mozzarella, a spicy mayo with lettuce and tomato on a dense bread....HOLY ITALIAN LOVE! I was hooked...this is the kinda sandwich my grandfather made us as kids, all fresh ingredients that tasted like it was picked from the garden! It came with a little salad but I could not eat that.....stupid server should have told me! I would get this sandwich over and over again!

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanTuesday033.jpg
I needed something sweet and it was just so nice and comfy in there, I wanted to stay longer! I decided on the second dessert, a light moist chocolate cake on the bottom, chocolate marscapone cheese and then a light whipped cream....Can I say it? SLAP YO MAMA GOOD! No wonder why everyone was ordering it, so light and good and creamy and refreshing! Thank goodness Todd was not there because I would have not shared no way no how!
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanTuesday034.jpg
It was not a cheap lunch, $60 not counting tip but the 2 drinks added that up quick....
I wish I could get another solo day like this one, so far it is the BEST!

So at 1pm CST, I thought, "hmmmm. Nicki is ALMOST to her spa appointment!" I hope it was scrum-disneylicious!
My DIS goddesses are, for the most part, reading this thread, so I'm putting this out here - any advice, MickeyNicki, OyBolshoi, BriarRose?
My brother (Ferris,) SIL (Snow White,)and the little princess (2.5) are taking a last minute trip at the end of the month. With the help of the IPO, they got The Wave for dinner, Crystal Palace Lunch, Tony's Dinner, Kona Dinner, Cali Grill (dinner, getting a sitter) and Akershus for their last night. My brother, who knows everything (he is Ferris!) did this "all by his lonesome...."
The Wave should be ok for a sophisticated almost 3 year old young lady, right? They will have an Iphone with cartoons for her entertainment...they eat out with her all of the time.
Akershus for dinner? I think it is really brave, and I can't believe he willingly booked princesses, but he did....
Anywho, since I am more excited about this trip then they are - does it look ok? What counter service would you recommend? Ferris has LP by himself on the days there are only dinner ADR's, so no buffets, only counterservice.
Thanks for the highjack - I just love the people (and the creator) of this thread!

I was out for a couple of days and wow did I miss alot! I'm so sorry you were feeling ill after 9D, and really glad you both recovered so quickly (that was one huge breakfast!).:)
Here are a few weird things I have noticed...
Bathrooms at the parks are not clean like they used to be...out of soap, TP, paper towels, floors are a mess etc....DH said the mens rooms are in the same condition.
No sales in the stores like we saw in March...bummer.
Not too many Photopass people out either
Sorry to hear all of this...:sad2: I was amazed at the bathroom conditions in April considering how crowded WDW was -- have they cut back on staff & their soap budget?
I really think the resorts need to start doing different colored key cards for resorts and then making you show them NO MATTER WHAT RESORT you are staying at for pool privileges. It is unbelievable what people will do. My oldest DS and his girlfriend are going next month and they are staying at the CBR (not happy with this...but they really didn't have a choice) and she asked if pool hopping was allowed. I told her no. She said she didn't think so but wanted to ask before she tried to go elsewhere (I guess the pirate theme just isn't doing it for a 21-year old :rotfl:).
:thumbsup2 I agree with you 100%, if for no other reason than crowd control. I thought they were checking SAB really carefully, though.:confused3

MIckeyNicki- You are so funny! I love your reviews! I do have a question about eating solo? Did you feel awkward? Did you bring something to read? I'm asking this because I think on my next trip I will end up solo for majority of the time. The last thing I want to do is miss out on some good grub- just because I'm afraid to dine alone. Going solo was a lot better than I thought it would be! Might become a habit :rolleyes1It's become a $1,000+ a year habit for me. Of course I gave up smoking before I started going to Disney yearly, so the costs cancel each other out, and Disney is healthier. ;)

I'm pleased to see that the "healthy" (hey who are we kidding here?) version of the croissant sandwich was as tasty as it looked. And about the disappointing muffin....can I get on my soapbox about those flying rats (aka the seagulls) who will rip food out of your hands? (Churro; Frontierland...a few years back. I'm still traumatized.) It was enough to make me scream at my TV at Jillian (the Bachelorette) when she was feeding flying rats in Vancouver with her Date du Jour. "Don't feed the !@#$@#@% birds!"

Tutto. I haven't eaten there because it seems way expensive compared to most any other restaurant there, but I think I probably should swing lunch there. The sandwich looked great, but that dessert! I was feeling some serious chocolate luuuuuuurve.
And Mrs. Spratt: If you're going to do counter service, Epcot has to be the best park to do it in. Nicki took great photos of places you would normally overlook as "counter service": Kringla bakery in Norway and the Patisserie in France. You should try and get to Tutto for lunch, still costly but very light and good and you wont leave with PASTA GUT like you do at dinner :rotfl:
Your solo day sounds like :cloud9:. Can't wait to hear what you thought of the spa. I've heard only good things about it!
Going to post it right now, it was heavenly!
That must have been a very relaxing spa day and/or a drink heavy evening :rolleyes1 Good morning! :goodvibes
Oh honey, I was dead weight last night, the spa and the food and the booze, I was useless....reviews coming up!

First let me tell you all about today...DH told me last night that they have another meeting today and we have to check out today, I need to get back to work (even tho I dont wanna) so I have to check out at 11am (the Swan has a huge convention coming in and they will not give me a late stay).
Had to cancel our Boma breakfast and I am so sad about it.
I slept in, I have a croissant from the BWI Bakery from last night, I will stay in the room until 11am and then go to HS or Epcot again, eat lunch somewhere, I was thinking Beaches and Cream, and wait for DH to call me and say he is on the way to pick me up. If it is around 5 we will probably go to DTD for dinner at WPE but it it is earlier we will just head home.
Anything I or we eat today I will post when I get home.

Now lets talk spa...or rather I died and went to heaven! I arrived 15 minutes early but that was ok because my masseuer took me early and spent the extra 15 minutes on me.
The Mandara Spa is unlike any other....when you enter the spa itself there is a huge relaxation, waiting room with hot tea, citrus water, large cushioned benches. The ladies lounge has 3 showers, 2 small and 1 huge, all kinds of toiletries for you to use, private toilets, lots of lockers, huge robes, flip flops, more citrus water, and a steam room..I used it all and I was the only one there, never saw another person.
Ok lets get a bit TO MUCH INFO but I did skin to the wind, nothing but a robe babe, I was ready for this stone massage!
I went to wait for John, holy crap you guys have got to ask for John he works Sun, Mon and Tues only. He is also a physical therapist. He asked where my problems were, he said he could tell it was my shoulders and neck because I was all bunched up, also my lower back kills me from sitting in a desk all the time. He decided to do a stone physical therapy massage and the boy got into knots and tense areas that I never knew existed...I was in a good pain mode, the kind where you know that is the spot and it hurts but you want them to work out the kink. THe hot stones were incredible, he lays them on the back and then kneads them into the muscle....oh my it was terrific. 90 minutes of this and I still wanted more, he massaged from my toes to my head, the ears, the hands ...EVERYTHING!
When he was done I was reeling with relaxation, my body felt like Jello and he made me drink 2 glasses of water to help get the toxins out of my body.
Then I went to see Kristen for my Tri Enzyme Resurfacing Facial for 60 minutes..it lightened my face, removed the dark circles and smoothed out my entire face, I was glowing all night long and DH could not get over it! She also massaged my neck, back, head, shoulders, arms and hands.
After my bliss was over I went to the temple, another room where they do pedicures and manis, gorgeous huge room with ice tea, hot tea etc and a view of the water. Relaxed there for a bit and then took a shower...DH had called and said he was back at the resort so I went to go pick him up for dinner.
When I was paying they offered me the products that were used on me, a 5 piece facial set and massage oil with healing items in it....total cost was $700 for these 6 times...I said Uh No, DH didnt give me that much moolah.....
MY GOODNESS that was ridiculous and that was with 20% off....the mark up is insane...and to add insult to injury the facial items read....

ANTI AGING FORMULA
I was mortified! :scared1:
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: God, it happens quicker than we realize!
I get an aromatherapy massage about every two or three months. Edward, my masseuer, will on most occasions also use the hot stones on me. He knows my weak points--shoulders/neck from stress and my lower back, also from sitting at a desk 8 hours a day (and then of course another 4 or 5 at night being on the DIS! :rotfl2: ). I look forward to these treatments every time. I may have to give the Mandara a try the next time we are at Disney.

Went to the room to get DH, he could not believe how glowy I was! We grabbed the boat to the BWI and went to Flying Fish, we were an hour early but they took us right away.
One bad thing happened here, we were seated next to this party of 6 adults and 4 boys under 9 years old...they were running all over the place, bumping into waiters, bumping into DH's chair, standing right next to us and staring, yelling, screaming and they were totally out of control...I was pissed because I could not hear what DH was saying to me. I kept shooting looks at them and the parents but nothing worked. I told our waiter that we wanted to be moved but there wasnt another 2 top open. I asked if they could speak to the parents but the waiter for them already had....he told me they were having a round of coffee and they should be gone soon....We were both pretty ticked because the kids were LAYING ON THE FLOOR next to us and acting up pretty bad...I commented loudly and before you know it they finally scooped the kids up and left...Not one of the adults ever spoke to the kids about their behavior.
DH started with a sparkling white wine, he loved it and had another one or 2 (cannot remember) later.
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanTuesNight046.jpg
I had a Boardwalk Bay Breeze, drank it fast and ordered another one...very good and tasty!
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanTuesNight048.jpg
Killer bread, it was served hot and crusty on the outside and soft and doughy on the inside, DH and I have a good thing worked out, he gives me the crust and I give him the dough!
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanTuesNight051.jpg
Super creamy butter, not a frozen slab that some places give you
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanTuesNight052.jpg
DH started off with a mozzarella and 3 type of tomato salad....this was so light and fragrant and sweet and fresh tasting, we loved it!
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanTuesNight053.jpg
Todd also wanted to try the corn soup with the rock shrimp so I told him I would order it for him since I didnt want anything else...wow was I glad I did because it was delish! There was diced potatoes, carrots, cubed bacon, corn and 4 crispy fried tender rock shrimp. THe soup was very light and sweet and awesome! I am sure there was cream in it but it wasnt heavy or thick at all.
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanTuesNight056.jpg
I could not decide on the scallops or the snapped and the waiter said the scallops were the best but if I didnt like them he would give me the snapper instead. Well the scallops were fantastic! Cooked perfectly, super tender and sweet and the fresh pea risotto was a great accompaniment to the scallops....it was very light and refreshing and DH loved it too....he ate half of it! The risotto changes seasonally, in Oct it was a pumpkin risotto.
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanTuesNight058.jpg
DH had the NY Strip again and I convinced him to order it medium and he did and it was cooked a perfect medium and he ate every single bite. Great char on the outside, bernaise sauce on the top and yummy roasted veggies...I did eat a few bites myself and I am not a NY Strip kid but I really enjoyed it.
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanTuesNight057.jpg
DH made us members of the clean plate club, the food was just that good that you could not leave bite behind. Our server, Jay, was a great server, very attentive and helpful with the menu.
I wasnt that hungry so I told DH choose the one that you want and I will take a bite or two. He decided on the chocolate trio since we had banana at BlueZoo the night before.
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanTuesNight061.jpg
This is a chocolate mint cake with almond ice cream, the ice cream was insane, loaded with almond flavor but no almonds and the mint cake was super moist and tasted like a Girl Scout Thin Mint. This was Todd's favorite
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanTuesNight062.jpg
This is a dulce de leche with thin chocolate cookies in between and chocolate croutons on the top....I could eat and entire bowl of chocolate croutons! This was my favorite.
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanTuesNight063.jpg
This is a light chocolate thing with rasperry stuff inside and it was ok but the balsamic glaze they put on it was not sweetened enough so the tastes were way off and kinda icky.
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanTuesNight064.jpg
So there you have it, our Flying Fish review, second time we have been here and just as wonderful as the first time.....I hope we can get back here in Oct, it would be so nice to just roll to the room. DH was freaked when I told him that I wanted to walk to the Swan, hey I needed to digest this meal! Once back in the room I sat on the bed and never got up until after 8am this morning, I was just way to relaxed and full to move!

Oh my gosh ... I cannot wait to eat at Flying Fish in December! I am not a huge seafood eater but really want to try either the snapper or the scallops. DS and I actually agreed to pick one of those and then maybe the pasta dish so we could share and not 'go hungry' if we don't love the fish. DH is already drooling for that steak!
I was debating going back to Tutto. DS and I really enjoyed our meal there last year & I wanted to share it with DH. Thought about dinner but then the menu you posted didn't excite me. Lunch on the other hand looked devine! So Tutto it is for lunch! Now to decide where to have dinner ... :goodvibes One thing for sure is that it won't be Nine Dragons! I thought I really wanted to try it but I am just not taking the chance. We can get good chinese food at home!
So sorry to hear that your trip is coming to an end! I really enjoy your reviews and can't wait for the next ones! Only 198 days til our trip (and next Mom & Son Eat the World dining review) but who's counting! :rolleyes1

Great update!
We have ADRs at Flying Fish next month . It's been 3 years since we've eaten there and I had heard some negative things, but it was a favorite of ours and I'm so glad to see you liked it!
As for the kids, sorry you had to put up with that. Parents like those shouldn't take their kids into nice restaurants and ruin the experience for everyone else.:sad2:

I am so glad the food at Flying Fish made up for the kids' antics! We just booked a "family" trip to Disney World yesterday and we're going in August for free dining. My parents are paying for all us kids plus spouses plus my brothers' kids to go so it'll be quite the ordeal but I'm hoping for a kid-free dinner at Flying Fish!
I think a massage is on my list for this next trip too. That sounded so heavenly :cloud9:
Have a safe trip back home!

Another great review! :thumbsup2 FF looks fantastic and it's another on my to do list. My youngest DS LOVES peas, and wants me to try and make the risotto. Sorry those kids where so bad! From a young age, I have taught my DS's how to behave in a restaurant. Maybe someone needs to teach those parents! Hope today is going well, and can't wait for you to get home to tell us how it went!popcorn::

That spa sounds great....isn't it wonderful to be pampered at those places? DH gives me a certificate for a spa day every now and then, and it's just such a nice change of pace.
Flying Fish sounds great....I think it's going on our list for next June since we are thinking of staying near the Boardwalk.
I can't stand parents like the ones you ran into! Why is it that people think that children don't have to exhibit good manners when they are in public? I'm not anti-kid by any means....I have a 5 year old girl and a 16 month old boy and 6 nieces and nephews who all live in the same town as me, so I'm around the little buggers all the time.....but kids should not impact other people's experiences. Like Chelle said....my kids have never acted like that in a restaurant, and if they tried it, I'd kill them!

:rotfl2: Welcome to the club, my dear. ;) You're looking at one of many who turned (or will turn) 40 this year! Do you get called "Ma'am" a lot? ;)

That is my single biggest pet peeve, at WDW or anywhere, for that matter. A couple of coworkers and I went to our regular sushi place for lunch last week, and a little girl was just running around the tables. She was pretty disruptive. I hate it here and I hate it at WDW. If I'm alone, I have no problem asking the parents to call their kids back to the table. I am more reticent among "company".
Anyway, back to the meal. Loved the scallops photo! Yum! I love the red snapper, but it's been years since I've had it. I remember how good it was. And the chocolate dessert looked great. 2 out of 3 ain't bad. :)

WOW, what a day you had!!! I'm probably the only one here who thinks the massage sounds awful, but that's because I could not stand someone I don't know to touch me like that - the whole massage thing gives me the creeps.
Maybe the facial, but then that included a massage as well..yuck...I almost went for a pedicure and manicure last time I was there, but they only had availability with a guy and could not do it (hey, I'm a former nun, what do you expect?? :rotfl2:). Also, the receptionist was awfully snotty - which is so rare at an upscale place.
Anyway, what's the deal with those brats ( a term I never use). Of course, not their fault as the parents should have taught them from the time they were babies appropriate behavior. Doesn't take much - just have to explain to munchkins what we do here, etc. Those kiddos must be worse than nightmares at home!! Where Jo the Nanny, when ya need her??;)
Have not tried the Flying Fish yet, but sure must next trip!! Looks scrumptious - photos are fabulous, of course!!
Thank you!! Hope you're havin' fun today! Safe trip home!

There is NO WAY, I mean NO WAY I could have tolerated kids rolling on the floor and bumping into DH's chair. If our server or a manager wasn't able to help I am afraid I would have been hideously ugly to those parents, and it would have been loud. I daresay it would have been the sort of scene to warrant the involvement of Disney Security. :scared: I have NO patience for that behavior, and if the behavior is having a direct negative impact on my dining experience then it is time to inconvenience the parents of the naughty children. I've only ever had one massage before and it was by a girl and it wasn't very good. :sad2: One day I will have to try another one ::yes::
Sorry to hear about the out of control kids. It's also a pet peeve of mine and whenever I encounter them I always say very loudly "Don't you have parents????" so that the parents can hear it and that usually solves the problem here at home but when on vacation, it seldom works. I either get ignored or get dirty looks. For some reason, a lot of parents seem to not want to parent their kids while on vacation. :confused3 We encouter a lot of those kind of parents in WDW but most especially on Disney cruises :sad2:
I guess sometimes it just comes down to laziness or parents thinking that they should also be on vacation from being a parent.
My daughter will only be just shy of 3 when we go in October but I think that WDW will offer a lot of opportunities for us to teach her some new things....such as waiting in line for things and having proper behaviour in busy public places. I know she won't be on her best behaviour at sit-down restaurants but I am going to do my best to keep her from disturbing anyone around us! Geez I hope that works out for us :rolleyes1 :rotfl2::rotfl:

In reality, I'd ask the parents if they wouldn't mind paying for my meal, since they would be the ones directly responsible for "ruining my guest experience". :rotfl2:
Hi, Lori! :yay: I remember meeting you!
You are welcome to dine with us anytime! Unfortunately the truancy board has put a stop to our October WDW visits. :guilty: We typically go in August now. But we are looking at June for 2010.

The food from Flying Fish looks great. I will have to get my husband there...he dislikes Sea Food, so a restaurant with the word Fish in it is usually off limits. :)
I am so sorry you had to deal with the ill behaved children. We had a similar experience at Turf Club and it ruined our entire meal, as we were seated at the same time. As much as we wanted to say something, we bit our lips. It was annoying to say the least though...Especially since I shared a long booth with many of the kids....

Just spoke to Nic. She and Todd are home safe and sound. She says she is too tired to post tonight, but she'll post her finale tomorrow. :)
That is sooo funny! :rotfl:
The same traumatizing thing happened to my DH years ago at WDW: seagulls, churro, frontierland. Ripped right out of his hands before he barely even had a bite.
Really enjoying the reviews and pictures!

When you consider we had 26 agents touring the room, only one "extra" hand in the pictures is pretty darn good if you ask me :rotfl:
Now back to our regularly scheduled programming :goodvibes
OMG!!! These rooms look so awesome! Thanks for the pics!:)

I'm not even sure I remember what 40 was like anymore. Especially since I got my AARP card. :rotfl2:
I'm another of those people coming up on 40 this year... it really stinks... (well that's not really the word I used, but hey, be nice now!)
Nicki, Sounds like you had a GREAT day.... Cait and I were going to try Tutto, but I really don't do well with wait staff that are inattentive. (really.) The dessert looked WONDERFUL though!!!!! I'm looking forward to making our ADR's next month... starting the planning already!

Another one of the Group-of-40-Gals here ... :rotfl2:
Nicki, your review of Flying Fish was fabulous and I really want to thank you for the menu pictures. Jay and I were already planning to smack ourselves silly with the fishes but now it's set in stone.
The cheese plate .. the port flight ... the scallops ... the desserts ... sign me up and pass the drool cup! :lmao:
I was also really happy to read that you enjoyed Mandara ... didn't I tell you it was a little bit of heaven? :cloud9:
Here's hoping we can do a drive-by in October ... would love to meet up with you guys at the Squishee stand in France.

That is not funny! She even told me I had a wrinkle on my forehead! I cannot wait to go back that spa!
:rolleyes1
I am so sad to be home but honestly I need a break from all the food! I think I am going to put Tutto down for lunch and dinner, I love them both! Flying Fish is awesome, the NY Strip is killer too! Whatever you do, stay far far away from Nine Dragons, just thinking about it makes me
Great update!
Tell you what, if those kids were just starting their meal I would have walked out and grabbed a corn dog instead...they were just hellions! The food at Flying Fish is wonderful but the service was top notch!
I hope you get your kid free dinner and have time to relax at a spa....it is a great way to end a day!
The peas were so fresh and the risotto was delish, I would go back just for that!
Honey that sounds like an incredible afternoon & evening!!!!:cloud9:
--except for the obnoxius kids/parents next to you at dinner. I just don't understand people :confused3 A. my kids wouldn't dare act like that out to eat and B. I'd strangle them if they did!
I understand it's Disney World and it's family friendly, but rude/obnoxious misbehaviour is not acceptable :headache:
Hope you have another wonderful day wandering by yourself :goodvibes
It was a great day and yesterday was almost more of the same...if we ever acted up we got the look from my mother, you never ever ever want to mess with the look because if you did then my dad would escort us out of wherever we were and we sat in the car until my mom was done with her shopping, dinner etc....but these people were just oblivious to the kids and when a waiter has to bring it to your attention and you still do nothing to wrangle them in, well then you have a problem!
MickeyNicki
06-11-2009, 09:47 AM
Sounds fantastic!
I'm sorry about the kids also. Had the same thing happen at the park yesterday. Two boys sat down right in the middle of our picnic and proceeded to interview us and beg for food. Their mother just sat and read her book...never said a word. They sat with us the entire meal.
No way, that is horrible! Did you feed them? Sounds like they were trained to beg
Oh yes the spa was amazing, my favorite thing in the world but man is it costly! I highly recommend Flying Fish, we have been there twice and the food was terrific both times! I have the 2 nieces and they never act like that because my sister taught them that going out was a priviledge...same way we were raised
Thanks for such wonderful live reviews! Out-of-control kids are horrendous - so sorry that you had to deal with that!
I went to BevMo yesterday and stocked up on XFusion liquer and thought of you :goodvibes! And, next to the XFusion was Nuvo! Wow, here I am visiting in San Diego and only had thoughts of WDW while in a liquor store :rotfl:!
Thank you so much for reading them! Oh that Nuvo and XFusion, rock my world! I do have Nuvo at home now so I can save the $15 in Epcot and put it towards 2 other cocktails! I cannot believe I did not have my favorite Magical Star Cocktail this trip!
All spas will do that. I remember the first time I did spa treatments, I was on a cruise, and they heavily pushed their products on me, but I resisted. They get some serious moolah on those products.
Yeah the few spas I have been to they try and sell me stuff but not $700 worth, that is insane!
:rotfl2: Welcome to the club, my dear. ;) You're looking at one of many who turned (or will turn) 40 this year! Do you get called "Ma'am" a lot? ;)
Oh yes they do and I hate it....I keep looking to my left and right and wondering, who are they talking to?? :scared1:
That is my single biggest pet peeve, at WDW or anywhere, for that matter. A couple of coworkers and I went to our regular sushi place for lunch last week, and a little girl was just running around the tables. She was pretty disruptive. I hate it here and I hate it at WDW. If I'm alone, I have no problem asking the parents to call their kids back to the table. I am more reticent among "company".
I know it is Disney but that is no excuse to let your kid raise hell and interrupt other diners....it is just so inconsiderate!
Anyway, back to the meal. Loved the scallops photo! Yum! I love the red snapper, but it's been years since I've had it. I remember how good it was. And the chocolate dessert looked great. 2 out of 3 ain't bad. :)
I loved the snapper but I was so intrigued by the scallops...now I love both so I am going to trick DH into ordering one or the other but he is head over heels with the steak....hmmm maybe I can order for my invisible friend?

WOW, what a day you had!!! I'm probably the only one here who thinks the massage sounds awful, but that's because I could not stand someone I don't know to touch me like that - the whole massage thing gives me the creeps.
I was nervous about having a man do the massage but man he was a gem! I feel like a million bucks today!
A snotty receptionist can ruin the experience! They do have facials where they do not massage the neck and shoulders and stuff....
Where Jo the Nanny, when ya need her??;)
Yeah, a good paddling would teach them a lesson...I was trying to give them the death glare my mom gave us but I guess it works on your own kids and not other peoples :rotfl:
Have not tried the Flying Fish yet, but sure must next trip!! Looks scrumptious - photos are fabulous, of course!!
Thank you!! Hope you're havin' fun today! Safe trip home!
You should try FF, you will not regret it!
I have been lurking along since Page 1. Thoroughly enjoying your report! :thumbsup2
I am sorry you had to start off your meal that way. I love Flying Fish. And Cali Grill. And Narcoosee's. And Citrico's. ;)
I think DH and I are signature restaurant hogs now, cannot wait to try Citricos and Narcoosees...maybe Artist Point too! I was this close to losing it on the parents, DH can let that roll off his back but I get sooooo testy! I did say a few things loud enough for them to hear but they had so many wine glasses and Irish Coffees going on they were too buzzed to hear me!
Oooooooh :cloud9::love::lmao:
I would love to see a photo of the glowing Nicki :thumbsup2
I am just the regular Nicki now, the glow has worn off the minute I got back to work ha ha! When we took our niece and she was a little too hyper I said to her, Kayla act like a good girl, and she would get all upset and say "But I am a good girl, are you still going to buy me a balloon?" :rotfl:
And Nicki, your spa day sounds like it was fabulous. Maybe I need a spa day at WDW. Nah. It would take too much time out of commando touring. ;) Maybe I need a spa day before we leave for WDW!
I found that doing a solo day (or 2) I was able to do everything and have alot of time left over so a spa day was perfect for me....and I was all mushy glowy, squishy after!
It sounds like you had a great meal at Flying Fish. At least the signature meals are really great this trip, if some others aren't.
I will say, they cost alot of $$ but they are totally worth it!
Nicki - I am glad your vacation ended better than it began. I really enjoyed your report (as always). Thank you for taking the time to share with us! I hope you and DH have a safe trip home!:flower3:
Thank you so much for reading and joining in!
Wow Nicki, I'd have been upset with those kids in FF too. Some parents have no clue...:headache: Glad you guys had another great meal there!
Thank you for turning me onto this place, we love it!
Awesome spa day...sounds like a great way to spend an off-park day.
Flying Fish looks scrumptious...I don't even like peas but that risotto with the scallops might convert me! And love dessert samplers...so fun to try more than one dessert at a time.
Sorry about the out of control kiddos -- some people think "fine" dining means that whatever their bratty kids do is "fine":upsidedow
Have you been to FF yet? You got to go, you will love it...but go to the spa first! Dessert samplers are the best, wish every place had them!

Why did I not put Flying Fish on my list for this trip. :sad2: Well, in my head I am already secretly plotting my next visit for 2010 so I will have to add it there. I have to let DH get through this trip first before I can mention the next. He does better if I break it to him slowly. :rotfl:
There is always another trip to take and you can put it on that list! Todd just says, let me know when we are going!
Flying Fish looks great!!!!! Something that NEEDS to go on our wishlist for next time!
I am glad your vacation ended much better than it began! Hope you enjoyed your last day and have a safe trip home!
We're off to Disneyland Resort Paris at 5am, so I'll have wait to read the last part of your trip when I get back!:goodvibes

Ok Nicki. I just cancelled my FF ressie today bit now I am going to have to see if I can get it back. That soup looks
Ah-may-zing!!! Hopefully I can get it back into our schedule.
Update! I got it back! Yes!!!
The soup was fantastic, I could have downed a pot of that stuff...read your other post, glad you got it back on your schedule!
Those scallops looked awesome. :goodvibes I think I would have been like you, having trouble deciding between that and the red snapper. Thanks for all the great reviews. :)
They were the tenderest scallops too! But I did miss the snapper, oh well next time!

Oh girl, what you dont see in the pics is Todd's little belly and my, um, Italian pear shaped bod, hey curves are in right? Just look at Kim Kardashian!....but I can promise you we do not eat like this at home, hardly ever drink unless out with friends and I do excercise every single day, I walk about 4 miles every single day and my drink of choice is water with lemon.... Hi everyone, I am back home now and I want to post my last day for you! DH had to stay in Orlando all of Tues so I had another solo day! For breakfast I had a plain croissant from BWI Bakery, we bought some the night before..it was so yummy!
I slept in, and tried to get a late check out but the Swan said they had a huge convention and I had to get out at 11am. I called Bell Services, stowed the luggage and decided to go back to Epcot because I didnt know what time DH would come to get me...and I like Epcot :rotfl:
It was 11:30 by the time I reached Epcot, had no clue what I wanted for lunch and then I remembered Remy at Chefs de France so I went there. They open at noon so I took in the Impressions de France show, that was great but dated, WDW needs to redo all of their movie shows!
I was led into Chefs a little after noon and seated by the windows...this was my view....
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanWed014.jpg
That is the France slushie stand, power of suggestion? You will see! I also had a view of Belle for the character meet and greets.
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanWed019.jpg
My server was Vincent and he could not be more doting and attentive to me...he made me feel pampered and told me to take my time, sit and enjoy my meal and sip my tea leisurely until the special guest arrives. The pace of my meal was nice and slow...no rushing at all, the food was not brought out too quick for me either.
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanWed005.jpg

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanWed011.jpg
I opted for the French Menu and an Ice Tea. Very good cold strong ice tea and Vincent never let my glass go half empty, he would show up with another fresh glass...that is a huge thing for me!
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanWed012.jpg
Vincent brought me a nice crusty hot french roll...and frozen butter....:scared1: and he told me I could have as many rolls as I wanted....love this guy!
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanWed013.jpg
The french onion soup was nice and hot, loaded with cheese, bread and onions...I loved it!
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanWed015.jpg
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q225/nicsgtp/SwanWed016.jpg
I opted for the ham and cheese quiche (served hot) and a side salad. The salad was great, mixed greens with a balsamic vinegrette dressing, it went perfectly with the quiche. I am a quiche lover, make them all the time at home...this quiche was so light and creamy and fluffy, not too salty and had a nice nutmeg flavor, the crust was so flaky and tender...I ate every single bite...I would get that again and again!

Dessert was profiteroles with vanilla ice cream, warm chocolate sauce and berries...WOWOWOOWOWOW! Where has this been? I do not like cream puff pastry but this, added with decadent ice cream and the best chocolate sauce my lips have ever touched, white chocolate curls and fresh fruit, I could die a very happy woman! The chocolate sauce was thick and rich and soooo good...real French chocolate! I took my time and ate every single bite.

Is he not the cutest thing you ever saw?? The maitre d' came around the dining room pushing a cart with a silver dome on it...she lifted the lid and on a platter of cheese and fruit Remy appeared! He was so cute and made little mouse squeaks....If the food wasnt so good and reason enough to eat at Chefs this little guy sure was!

Ooo, must have been posting at the same time - aww, that little Remy is soo cute, even for a rat! ::yes::
For a minute when I saw the photo with the blond woman side view, I thought, what's Mia doing there?? She's looks just like DD from the side. too funny!

I left Chefs a happy girl and decided to take in the English Comics, the French Waiter show and then I needed something cold, it was blazing outside and I was just melting. So...I had to try the Grey Goose Lemon Slushie.

I think I like this better thank the Grand Marnier one...it is very good, nice and lemony and refreshing!
I took in Innoventions, the Chinese acrobats, the Canada Show, the American Adventure, the China show...I saw it all...and guzzled down half a dozen water bottles too!
Here are some bonus menus for you! On the way back to the Swan to meet DH I decided to walk to the YC to take new menu pics....

Dh finally picked me up at the Swan around 6:30 and he was just whipped..and not hungry so we just got on the road to go home, he has another meeting in Ft Myers today so he just wanted to sleep. Bummer cuz I was hoping to eat at WPE for a nice salad!
Guess what my dinner was?? Chicken nuggets from McDonalds! They were not that bad, this from a girl that just at at BlueZoo, Cali Grill and Flying Fish :rotfl:
We did alot of talking about our Oct trip and what we decided to do is the 3 nights at POFQ (that didnt change) but we cancelled our CL room at the BWI and decided to stay regular BWI and saved $800...to us it doesnt make sense to spend that kind of money when we will only eat breakfast in the lounge and I am too OCD to have the IPO do my ressies...I would rather spend the $800 on signature meals and booze and F&W snacks....oh yeah and the spa!
Thank you guys for sticking with me, I have enjoyed writing this review for you and loved your comments and chatting with you too! No one could ever understand our Disney obsession like all of you!
Now, just 4 more months until the next edition of the Nicki and Todd show, this time for 10 nights/11 days and no solo days (boo)! Can you imagine how many times I am going to change things around in the next 4 months?

The bill came to $75 not including tip. So we blew our first night dinner on a bomb. DH was right, the only place eating at in DTD is Fultons and WPE. Oh well you live and learn right?
Okay, I am SO late joining in! But, am super excited to read all these reviews! :goodvibes I will try and catch up...
Raglan Road--wow, what a yucky meal you had! So sorry...we really enjoyed our Jan lunch there, seems like it was vastly different. This makes me want to rethink returning...actually, we ate at the other location in Kansas City in March (passing through on a car trip) and it was MUCH better than the one in DTD (and we enjoyed our meal in DTD...) The restaurant itself was gorgeous, brand new, and the food was a step up in freshness and quality. Plus, they served us differently, i.e., the manager came over and took our--very moist and fabulous--bread and butter pudding out and put it on the plate, cut in half, and poured both sauces all over. WOW! This drastically changed the dessert, for the better. He said it was "how they do it." However, I was confused since they did not in Orlando. :confused3 Anyway, maybe the DTD location needs to revamp and take a lesson from their newer location! We also briefly met the head chef, who must have been there overseeing things, he was very friendly.
Can't wait to keep reading, Nicki! :flower3:

We're still trying to decide between bluezoo, FF & Bistro de Paris for our anniversary dinner next month. DH is leaning towards Bistro right now, and I'm thinking we probably can't go wrong at any of them.

Chelle, your pics of CBR Pirate Room are great, makes me want to stay there! I am still bummed out that we missed each other but maybe next time! Yes, by dumping CL I will have more CS and maybe TS to report...and of course mixed drinks! YEE HAW! Did you see the new menu pics of Bistro that I posted? Looks pretty good, have not been to that one yet but I will tell ya, BlueZoo was more romantic and tranquil than FF...both had good food but for an anniversary I say BlueZoo. No TIW at the Swan/Dolphin resorts...bummer

It's def. worth saving the money on CL if you only do breakfast, and don't need the IPO. We cut it out, only because I wanted another night, and felt like it would be better to stay at a mod. instead of deluxe. (plus it pays the trip off faster, and leaves more $$$ for other, more important things... like food for instance ;) )
Your line up looks great! A lot of yummy food! After reading your YUMMY reviews, we may have to splurge on the Cali Grill or Bluezoo... (though I think Cait would LOVE the FF! ~she's a seafood girl)
Here's what we're planning so far, Can't wait for October!!!
Breakfast:
Akershus, Boma, TH, CP, maybe Maya Grill
Writer's Stop (can't believe you didn't have that on your list), Main St. Bakery & Starring Rolls
Lunch:
Biergarten, Sci-Fi (or Mama Melrose), Les Chefs (or Tutto),
Sunshine Seasons, CHH, CR's & other CS (we haven't decided yet)
Possibly the GFC for Tea, it was on the list, then off, then on... who knows.
Dinner:
The Wave, Kona Cafe, and Tony's.
Some CS too...like Tang. Cafe & WPE.
Of course, we'll also be hitting the booths at the F&W, and the boozy drinks (for ME!)
I still think you would like TH breakfast... It's so much like Boma, but with characters (oh, and more kids... though, hopefully they'll be better behaved. Hum, maybe Boma would be quieter.)
We may end up going to some TS places just for appies and dessert (oh, and drinks...)

I am so sad your trip is over and really looking forward to the next one! Great choices you have picked! Mom & Son will "eat the world" again in December (with Dad) on Deluxe Dining but only for 6 days. I really want to try mostly Signatures partly to get out of the crowds in the Park. Jiko is a must after DS's sick last year. Also planning Flying Fish (an absolute must)Citricos, Yachtman & Artist Point (DH's request). Planning on New Year's Eve in EPCOT so I will be calling right at 7am on my 90 day mark. Thinking about Tutto for lunch and Tokyo Dining for dinner. What do you think? On our other EPCOT day I am stumped for lunch. That was the day we had planned Nine Dragons. Dinner will be at the Yachtman so I don't really want to do Le Cellier (even if I could get in!). I am kinda stumped for that day.
Really want to try Paradiso 37 but they aren't on the dining plan and our trip just isn't long enough to justify paying OOP. Oh well, I will live vicariously thru you!

Nicki, your dinner plans for next time sound great! :thumbsup2
We decided last year that we REALLY like signature dining better than "regular" dining. This year we are going to Yachtsman twice, Cali Grill, Flying Fish, Narcoosee's and Citrico's. We're going to Puck's for lunch one day. Of course we LOVE Kona so we're going there for dinner, too.
I did let IPO make my ADRs for me this time, and it went OK. Yesterday I called to mess with some stuff, and that may have been a mistake. I cancelled Coral Reef and Boma because we have been there, done that, and can always hit them again next year. Added Citrico's in place of Boma. The IPO lady booked it for SEPTEMBER instead of August. I caught it after I got home last night, so I had to call the regular Dining line to fix it. :headache: I also added lunch at Sci Fi by calling myself, because I decided on that after I already called IPO. :rolleyes1

Thanks for backing me up on cancelling CL...it just makes more sense for us I guess...but the lack of good breakfast places (CS) at the BWI is a bummer, I can only eat the BWI so long ya know? If Cait loves seafood you should take her to BlueZoo instead, they have a very large seafood menu!

Glad you had a GREAT time at the spa.
Hmmm that french onion soup at Les Chefs looks delish. The mac'ncheese on their menu sounds good. Have you had it? I'd like to go there to see Remy, but we won't be able to unless they extend his visit.
Did you say B-A-B-Y? How exciting! Pixie dust to you:wizard:

Okay since reading your review I've added Kona Cafe for breakfast and Wolfgang Puck's Cafe for lunch.
We also have Chef de France and Le Cellier. Very excited. Your review has inspired me to write my own...thanks again!

Nicki,
That French menu at Chefs de France looked great. I would have ordered exactly what you did. The quiche lorraine looked spectacular. :thumbsup2
Loving your Oct list as well. GF tea is one of my favorite things to do. :goodvibes It's so nice and relaxing. F&W booths are the best.

Thank you for all your kind words, so glad you decided to post! The baby aspirin thing, I am 100% with you on that one! We will be here on Oct 22, hope we can meet for a drink at F&W!
I just caught up on your final reviews. So glad you enjoyed the spa. :cloud9:I may have to go check that place out. In April I stayed at Saratoga Springs and decided to check out the spa there. The spa itself was very nice but my massage was nothing special (and way more than it costs at home!). I'm glad I did it but not sure I would do it again, at least not at that spa.
You review of the Flying Fish convinced me I needed to add that to my list for October. We went there last October and it was great.
Sounds like you had a really nice couple of solo days. I'm so sad your trip is over now and we'll have to wait until Oct for more reviews. I'll need to find something else to entertain me until my next trip in August.
I would love to meet for a drink at F&W in Oct -- then I can really get live drink recommendations from you! Sounds like you will be getting there on my last night (I leave on 10/23). I will be solo so don't have to worry about anyone else's plans but my own :goodvibes And I love Epcot and F&W so I'm sure I will be spending my last night there. Hope we can set something up!:yay:

Wow, I haven't been to Chefs in a while, but that lunch looked fabulous! I would have gotten the French menu with profiteroles, too. Man, that chocolate sauce looked like sin.
And Remy is too cute! Ratatouille is rated high among my favorite Pixar films.
Looks like you'll be having a lot of good food for October! I have absolutely no concrete plans except Todd English's bluezoo™. Well, I'll probably cave in and do another Party for the Senses. But I am seriously thinking Bistro de Paris now! Especially if there are no food and wine events that thrill me.
And welcome home. :)

Oh that Mandara Spa is worth every penny of DH slaving away at meetings making moolah! I have had the mac and cheese at CdF before and really enjoyed it but thought it was too heavy for such a hot day. Yup I guess we are going to start trying...will keep ya posted if anything happens

Home and back to work to make the money to go back to Disney, its a vicious circle I tell ya!
I thought Chefs French Menu was a great deal, and I had the TIW card so that was 20% off and add in the tip it was a lot of food for not too much money....and it was a very relaxing lunch with a little visit from my favorite rat! When I showed Todd the pictures he was so jealous, he wants to go there for lunch in Oct too!

I loved your dinning reviews...thank you so much for sharing.
Since you and your husband loves to eat would you chose to do DxDDP and stay at a value or would you choose Swan if they offer a good deal (like $149 a night). I guess we love to eat and we like to do eat down meals (part of our Disney vacation...we really don't like counter food) but this year we can't afford a deluxe hotel. We love Swan but thinking of value and getting free dinning and upgrading to Deluxe meal. My husband says lets go to Swan and don't deal with meal plan but I think it would save us money. I would really appreciate your thought on this b/c the restaurants you pick tend to be the ones we like. We never stayed in a value.

Thanks for reading them! I have been kicking around the dining plan alot but we do have the TIW card and there are times where we skip meals, grab something small or just share food so I dont know if this is worth it to us, if I did go for the dining plan I would go for the deluxe, not so we can eat at 3 TS a day but so I can have 2 TS for signature places.
With us it is all about the price of the resort, we love deluxe resorts and if I can get a nice discount that is where we will stay, if the Swan/Dolphin runs another deal we will stay there and if not we have no problem staying at a mod...but it would have to be POFQ because it is so small and quaint, no waits for buses or crowds at the food courts. We have stayed at the values and other mods before and the buses are just packed and the food courts are loaded with people, that doesnt do it for me....So I guess I would say we would choose the Swan/Dolphin and not do the dining plan, it probably all works out in the end anyways :rotfl:
Me too! The Mandara Spa does look delightful. It might be on my to do list in August. Does anyone know how tipping works (what percentage, etc.)? It has been years since I've been to a spa.
There was an automatic 20% added to the bill..but the masseuer was worth more than that :worship:

My April trip was solo -- I just bought DVC last year and had developer points that there was no way I was going to let go to waste! I'm single (still looking for the right guy...) and and everyone I knew had either just gone or was going with me soon. So I just bit the bullet and did a solo trip. I think if I had a significant other I would have been more lonely but I actually had a really nice time. In August there will be 8 of us (my 2 best friends and their kids) so there will definitely be no "me" time, but it will still be a fun trip. So far the Oct trip is a solo trip but I think it will be nice after our crazy August trip!
Trying now to work out my schedule for Oct. Will have to book ADRs next month so I guess I'll need to figure that out soon. But right now I plan to be in Epcot that last night. I really love F&W (this will be my 4th trip during that time) and I'm sure I'll want to soak up the atmosphere there before going home. Looking forward to getting together for a drink! :goodvibes By the way, your Oct ADR list looks great - a lot of those places are on my list too. At least when I get home I can read your report and it will feel like I'm still there :thumbsup2

Hard to say. There are quite a few people squeezed into the event nowadays. I think there are pros and cons to doing the event, but if you are prepared to be on your feet for a few hours, I'd think you might enjoy it. There's a lot of grazing, so that part I enjoy. I found it easier this year to take photos of the signs before the food, because many items were difficult to identify otherwise.

Your October lineup looks great...can't go wrong with Jiko (my favorite), and DH and I are also hoping to try Citricos for the first time when we're there in Nov. Hi and thanks for reading! You can thank Marsha for the Welsh Dragon, if I never saw it on her dining review I would not have known it existed, and it was sooo good!
Cannot wait for October, need to get my rear in gear and start planning my reservations...although DH is driving me nuts and says he doesnt want more than 5 TS dinners for a 10 night stay...but I am going to plan them anyways because I know that he will want to sit down and relax with good food and booze at night!

Sorry I have been MIA on the DIS. I just finally read all of your reviews from this trip. I can't believe you got to stay an extra few days! Your review of 50's PTC made me actually consider trying it for once!! Also, I was surprised that you didn't like RR! I was expecting my bread to be 'hockey puck' ish when we went since I had heard about that here so many times. However we lucked out and our bread was pretty good. I really loved it there so I am sorry that you didn't have a good experience. Thanks again for an awesome review!!

Better late then never, glad you read it! Get this, DH is in Orlando right now until Friday and I didnt go...bummer I know but I couldnt get away right now...he did promise he would stop at DTD on the way home and bring me some gingerbread men!
We had not been to 50sPTC in a long time, the food was awesome but what made the meal *besides the Picnic Punch* was the fun we had with our server and fellow diners!

I would definitely plan them anyway...always better to have them and then if you decide not to go (or decide to change your plans;)) you can always cancel them. My big thing with the October trip is that I know I'm going to want to try a lot of things at the F&W fest...so I think I am just going to plan my ADRs and then cancel if I am too full from F&W. For our August trip which is 10 days we have an ADR for every day -- of course we are a group of 8 which makes it a little harder to be spontaneous.

I am def going to make dinner ressies for every single night, a few for lunch too....there are so many food stands for F&W and not enough room in the belly to sample them all in one day so we will probably do lunch there 4-5 times...last year it seemed that we ate the stands every day!
I know we bought gingerbread men from Germany in Epcot, the candy shop in HS by Starring Rolls and Goofys Candy Shop but I have not seen them anywhere else...we used to by them on Main Street Bakery but they no longer sell them.
I need to get the recipe for Picnic Punch so I can drink it at home by the pool...or at a picnic :lmao:

I so agree about not having enough room to sample all that you want to at F&W. Last year we were just stuffed! And when you "eat your way around the world" even though the portions are small I find myself more full because it is spread out over a longer period of time, and I just felt like I was constantly eating! But hey, we're on vacation, and we're walking it all off, right:thumbsup2:rotfl: I think I'll need to spread it over more days this trip so I can try more things and not feel as full :goodvibes
Thanks for the info about the gingerbread men. I will definitely be on the lookout for them in August.

DH just went to Orlando for business and the lovey stopped at DTD and got me a dozen gingerbread men....I put them in the freezer, I just love these things! He is going back the end of July again too, wish I could go with him!
WOW just found your thread! Can't wait to read it ALL! In the mean time can you give me a hint if you like Earl of Sandwich in DTD? I know you said only Fulton and Wolfgang puck....what are your thoughts on Earl? Or will I find it if I just keep reading?
We have been to EoS twice and it is ok but I would rather eat at WPE...more selection and DH isnt into sandwiches that much, he would rather eat a pizza, salad or rotisserie chicken.
At EoS I have had the mozzarella, basil and tomato and the meatball sandwich...both are very good!

So jealous that you got more gingerbread men! I am definitely going to Goofy's in August (promised my friend's kids I'd take them there when their parents go out for an adult night -- nice friend I am to sugar up their kids :rotfl:).
I can't believe your DH was back in Orlando again and will be going back in July too. October will come soon enough. In just a few weeks we'll be able to make ADRs so that will make it seem closer!

Hi Nicki,
Quick question, I am trying to decide if we should eat at Yachtman's, have you guys eaten there? I couldn't find a review in this year or last's list. I know you really liked Flying Fish but DS is not a fish eater.
thanks

Hey Niki - thought you might've taken another trip!! Congrats on your win btw!! :wizard:
Janloz I just read a trip report from a mom that took a detour from Flying Fish to Yachtsman!! http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2215958&page=2
(due to the weather the storm came up so fierce they were staying BCV - and ran from the boat to Yacht Club and Yachtsman could seat them!) she has some pics! We went, dh usually gets fish, I usually get beef - I loved my beef, and the augratin potatoes were out of this world! )

And when he goes in July I want more gingerbread men and create your own pretzel rods..I know I can make them at home but Disney food is just too good to pass up!

We ate there in April 08, pics and such are in my link..I really enjoyed it but DH didnt care for the food at all...he said the NY Strip at FF was sooo much better, the filet at Jiko is still tops on his list. I would go back to YM though, I really enjoyed it alot!

Wish I had my own personal gingerbread man supplier. I guess NJ is a little too far! Only 6 weeks till my August trip so I will have them soon!
Okay, now you have me craving the pretzel rods too. I totally agree, those pretzel rods are so much better than making them at home and you have way more options for toppings too :thumbsup2

Thanks, I will look again for it. DS really liked Calf. Grill filet and we will be going there for my bday dinner but wanted some other options for other nights. We are debating on whether or not to get Deluxe dining plan or stick with regular plan. If he can get NY strip at FF then we might try that since DH and I will eat fish. thanks and congrats on the prize.

Darn it, I was hoping our dates would overlap! :(
I almost booked AKL again for $149 a night, but CBR was only $96 and Charles said we could use the extra money on more drinks.

That is exactly why I changed to the POFQ for the entire stay, more money for snacks, booze and signature dining!

:lmao: Great minds!
Can I pick your brain for a few minutes? My ADR date is tomorrow! Anyway, I am having the devil of a time deciding what to try and get. Charles and I have decided we want to do "grown-up" meals that we wouldn't normally do with the kids. What are your favorites? Also, have you ever done a Party for the Senses? Is it worth the price or should we just stick with grazing at the kiosks? Also, should we plan on two days for Food and Wine? I am so overwhelmed right now! I am not used to only three months to plan.

I have not done a PFTS at the F&W yet, the price scares me off ...maybe one day but the last few reviews I have read made it sound full of people and not as great as it once was. DH and I prefer to graze the food booths, there is so much food that you cannot possibly try everything you want to in one day so I suggest going to Epcot more than once, share stuff too so you have more room to try more food!
As far as TS dinners, our favorites so far are BlueZoo, Jiko, Cali Grill, FF and Tutto Italia...there are so many others that we love and if getting to resorts for dinner is a hassle then I would pick:
Tonys at MK (or monorail it to CR for the Wave, that place was incredible!)
Tutto or Chefs at Epcot (or walk to BWI for FF)
50's at Prime Time
Whatever you decide you know you will have a yummy meal and experience...make sure you schedule enough time for F&W though...we have gone to WDW for long weekends and just lived at Epcot the entire time!

Thank you, Nicki! I think since this is our first time we will plan on both of our days at Epcot with a lot of grazing and skip the PFTS for now. Thanks for the idea of sharing -- we will definitely be doing that.

I think I will try for Cali Grill of FF for one night -- I always hear such rave reviews -- we'll have a car so getting places won't be a hassle.

Thanks again! We are super excited -- I have wanted to do Food and Wine for a few years, and now we get to do it! With the added bonus of no children!

We really love Tony's, I know it gets alot of bad reviews but we think the appies and desserts are great and the entrees are pretty good. I would rather eat here than Crystal Palace.
I ma 100% in agreement there.:thumbsup2
