While this is primarily being set up as a meet for all us UK Dissers that happen to be in 'the World' at the same time, anybody else is more than welcome to join us! The more the merrier!!!
MEET INFO
Date: 22nd September 2009
Time: 1pm
Place: Poly Resort at the Tambu Lounge
There are a lot of our members going to MNSSHP in the evening, so the meet is reasonably early in order to give everyone enough time to go do their thing before the party!

Any folks out there that want to join us, just post a reply and say hi and I'll add you to the list! :goodvibes

Sounds like a fun thing to do - would non- Dissers be welcome?
It would depend on our plans which we can't finalised yet and would depend on time of day too (is it more likely to be in the day or one evening?)
I'll check back when we know what we are doing and see what's been planned!
Thanks for starting the thread :thumbsup2

Of course everyone is welcome Becx N Gav! :goodvibes
In light that there is a MNSSHP that evening (and even debating about going to that one as well - we're going on 15th at the mo), we are going to arrange this for sometime in the day - either late morning/lunchtime/early afternoon, so that everyone has enough time to go back to hotels/eat/whatever before they go off to their party!
I haven't finalized any plans yet! :scared1: I hate this 90 day thing. I want so desperately to start planning what we're doing, sorting out ADRs etc, so this is a work in progress. So keep popping back and we can all update, and alter info as the park times and stuff get released for Sept and everyone knows a bit more about what they are doing!

Thanks for starting this thread - great idea! :cheer2:
DD (wishspirit) and I (suzycute) would love to join you on 22nd September. We would love to meet other Dissers who love Disney as much as we do! We're off to MNSSHP that night but any time during the day would be great.
We're very happy to go with the flow regarding venue but maybe somewhere where we can sit and chat in the cool (and maybe celebrate meeting new Dis friends with a drinkie - or two!) would be great!
We were really looking forward to our holiday anyway, but this will make it extra special!! :cheer2:

My sister (Twilight Terror) and I have been batting around a few ideas of locations for the meet. We have come up with two possible options.
First option: ABC Commissary at DHS - Reasonably big place inside out of the sun. Allows us to cool off and rehydrate/eat while we chat.
Second option: Pool bar at a resort - Should be a quieter location, more likely we can all sit together, but maybe more of a problem for those wanting to go back to their resort and change etc before MNSSHP.
Let us know your thoughts on these locations or any others you have come up with. :goodvibes

I think Epcot or a resort, an epcot or mk resort would make it easier to get too.
Where is everyone staying ?- we will be at BCV so pretty central.

:confused3 In the daytime??? :rotfl:
Well, judging from the responses so far, it looks like a resort is the favoured option, over a park. That's cool with us, but what about you guys that are off to the party that night? Anyone going back to their hotel between the meet and the party that would make a transfer resort-to-resort a bit of a nightmare?
So, any suggestions for an Epcot or MK resort that has a good pool bar/indoor/outdoor bar area where we can all congregate??

my vote would be the Poly, plus I think that It will be easy for people to get back to resorts if they are going to MNSHHP as they can get the boat or monorail to MK.:) and the Poly do lovely non alcoholic cocktails which my DD loves having.

Sounds like a good idea then. Anyone with any objections to somewhere at the Poly??
Now, are we talking inside bar/restaurant area, or outside pool bar area??

This suits us really well - we'll just get the monorail round from BLT.
We've never been to the Poly (apart from a very brief nosey look round several years ago so no idea what to suggest). The choice of alcoholic and non alcoholic cocktails sounds as though it will suit everyone! Roll on 22 September!

we had drinks at a bar outside the Ohana restaurant, Tambu Lounge which was nice, shouldn't be to busy during the day. I am not sure if there is many tables at the pool side bar, does anyone know?

Yeah, non alcoholic cocktails for me! 3 months off being a grown-up in the US, slightly annoying, but the sweets at MNSSHP will make up for it! :goodvibes

Hello:scratchin We want to attend:thumbsup2 We will be at the MNSSHP that night but had planned to go to DHS on the morning and grabbing a bite to eat somewhere. We were thinking of dining at Sci-Fi for lunch but we could change it to Kona Cafe or something. So we should be able to make it. Just an idea ... has anyone contacted Disney and asked if we can be classed as a Grand Gathering ? Maybe they could help us out.

No, I had not thought about that; I have no experience with Grand Gatherings. Should we/do we need to do that if we're just meeting for drinks rather than a table meal? If so, let's have all the info :goodvibes

I was thinking of booking Kona Cafe for a late lunch or early dinner, DD is going to MNSSHP as Minnie Mouse(though I am trying to get her to go as Tink as think Minnie costume will be to hot) so will probably be wearing her costume at the meet anyway, so we will probably go straight to the MK afterwards and do some rides. :) so excited now, not long till september.

Sorry for the double post, but I have been looking into the Poly resort and what kind of places are available and suitable, and here's what I've come up with:
BAREFOOT POOL BAR - obviously, this will be outside by the pool, so we'll all be sat outside, at high sun time, so maybe not such a good idea - not for us pale skinned Brits anyway ;)
CAPTAIN COOK'S SNACK CO - it's the counter service restaurant, so there will be food, drink and air con available; it just might be a bit crowded and noisy to attempt to fit that many of us in there! Alcohol is also available ;)
KONA CAFE - not sure, since it's a restaurant and reservations are suggested. We could do a big booking for lunch, but it could get tricky if people don't turn up or extra people want to come at the last minute.
KONA ISLAND - no good, since it's only open until 11am
OHANA - no good, since it doesn't open until 5pm
TAMBU LOUNGE - on the second floor, by Ohama. It's inside so air-con available. Snacks, alcohol and non-alcohol available. Opens from 1pm onwards, and no ressies needed.
Personally, I'm leaning towards the Tambu Lounge. If we all met at 1pm when it opens, we should all be able to fit inside comfortably, then we can have a good hour, or longer, chatting, and that will still give time for people to eat (like wideeyes) or go back to resorts before the MNSSHP, and gives the rest of us the late afternoon/evening to wonder off to another park :D
Any other views? Suggestions? Comments?

We are definitely going to the Tuesday night MNSSHP (on the 15th), and not the Friday one now. So unless our one is a wash-out and they cancel (like they did with the 4th Sept last year), then we'll just be there in our plain old Lime Green t-shirts so no one can miss us!
We will, however, be in costume on the 15th! So if anyone sees a Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella in her royal chariot, that will be us! We'll be in MK from about 5:30/6pm onwards, as we have 4:30pm ressies at GF!

Wishspirit and I have made some ADR's. We were thrilled to get Chef Mickeys for lunch on 20th Sept - we've never tried this and it sounds like fun. We have also booked Crystal Palace on the 23rd Sept and Prime Time on the 24th Sept for lunch and Cape May Cafe for our final night (25th) so we can wander over to watch Illuminations afterwards for the last time - I LOVE Illuminations!! You never know we may see folks at DTD or the water parks, we'll be at US one day when we're not in Disney and about a week later we'll be at IoA :goodvibes but will very likely be popping somewhere for dinner those nights even if it's just for CS meals;) Oh our costumes have just arrived for the MNSSHP they were only ordered yesterday now that's fast !!
This is very true! We have a day out at US/IOA - we're doing the two parks in one day :scared1: However, we are getting the 2-Park Unlimited ticket, so if we need to go back, we can! We've also got a day out at SeaWorld. We have several mornings at the water parks too, so maybe we will see you around after all. The key to finding us in the water parks - looks for the towels with the giant Nemos on, along with the wheelchair! :rotfl:

Hey Y'all!
I've recently touched base with PaulaSB12 on the Solos Board. We're tentatively planning on going to MNSSHP together on 22 September. She mentioned that she was attending the UK DIS Meet earlier in the afternoon and asked me to join. I hate to crash parties, so I thought I'd come over and get a formal invite.
I'm American (but not one of the rude ones who would just crash your party without your permission). :rolleyes1 I've been to your beautiful country about a half dozen times and loved it all, especially the brew pubs!
So. Can I formally crash your party? If not, I certainly would understand. No hard feelings. Really!

Of course!!! Feel free to formally crash our party whenever you like! :goodvibes The meet was set up because so many of us on the UK were going to be away at the same time, but I did also add that anyone and everyone was welcome to join us!! So yes, you are absolutely welcome to join us - the more the merrier! As long as you can put up with a bunch of Brits, of course!!! :rotfl:
Lagunn: If you go to the very first post of this thread, you'll find all the details about where and when, along with a counter so we know how many days we have until we all meet up! :rotfl: But if you don't want to go back:

That sounds like a brilliant idea for a photo - perhaps both at the meet and at the party? At the castle or something, if plannable without disrupting everyone's evening! Can't decide what we're gonna do yet - go in costume, eat something at Poly (or other monorail resorts), then go to MNSSHP, or just come back to home resort afterward, get changed and then go to MNSSHP!

Hi guys, just letting you know that we're not definitely able to make it to the meet- due to "feminine constraints" () this might be the only day we get to make it to a water park, which DBF is desperate to do. All costumes are done in the best possible taste nothing too short or revealing if that's a worry AND they have to be family and child friendly i.e. no scary makeup or props (you can use them at the Universal Horror Nights).
We are all strangers until we get to know each other a stranger is just a friend you haven't met yet as they say;) come on over we are friendly honest, we don't care about looks or image leave that at home and come and join the fun. I think the park will look great at night even better with everyone who wants to dress up there too .. and what better way to see Haunted Mansion than at night at the MNSSHP I  that ride:thumbsup2
Hope to see some you at the meet 22nd September , for those who'll be in the vicinity.. at the Tambu Lounge in the Polynesian resort easy to find and you don't need park admission to get there just jump on the monorail.
