Sign ups for the 2010 Podcast Cruise is closed.:goodvibes

Since I did the list for the 1st cruise (with Gibson's assistance), I would be happy to do it again, unless someone else wants to volunteer.:confused3:laughing:

Do you know what a Fish Extender is? Click HERE (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=32651483&postcount=378) for more information.
Special thanks to Todd for putting this together!

The last day to sign up was October 1st.

You did a grand job last time, let me know if you need help and I will!

I need to think of something different to do, which is hard as all the gifts were unique :thumbsup2 At least I have a year and a half to do it rather than 4 months :lmao:

There were a bunch of gifts I liked. The mints were really handy because I was starting to catch a cold and they really helped with the coughing. The chocolate bars rocked! I can't wait to try the maple syrup and marmite too. Gee, there seems to be a theme here, FOOD. :lmao:

I would love to do the FE again, but it was too difficult with everything else I had going on. I had to pawn delivery off on Lisa and Mindy because I just didn't think I would have time to do it.

No FE for you! Instigator. No sign ups yet. Way to early.

The bag was great. Doing a group gift was easy for everyone. Only a few rooms to deliver to per person. No walking all over the ship and wasting precious vacation time.

I think we may need to extend our fish extender :lmao: It was packed at times and we found we were going back and forth to the cabin quite a lot

The bag came in handy to put all the goodies in as we went along. The candy and other goodies were put to one side and we're slowly eating our way through them all popcorn::

I'm still going through all the gifts, I'm glad we have plenty of space on the fridge to display all those wonderful magnets :goodvibes

Anyone else from the UK definately coming? I'd love to do a UK gift if anyone wants to :woohoo:

We're in - I think with the number of people involved this time, it might be a better idea to have more group gifts - it just may be easier for everyone.

Jen - if your starting up a group gift, I'd love to be in it - we have some time so I'm sure we could think of something great to top our last gift (although that will be hard to do ;) )

Explain, please.

Do you leave a gift for each person sharing the cabin? Or is it one gift per cabin?

I will be in a cabin with one or two other cruisers. Do we each get gifts to bring home? Or do we split what is given to the cabin?

Group gift - a group gets together to make it one gift from several people? Or is it given to the group sharing the room and those in the room split it up?

Hope these questions make sense.
Thanks for the answers.

Ususally it's one gift per cabin, though it's totally your choice. Some did separate gifts for the kids too. If you share a stateroom and only one person is playing, then you will receive only one gift. If there are 2+ people in the room all are participating, you will receive a gift per person. Those rooms are listed multiple times on the official list.

A group gift is when you have several people share the cost of the gift. Example, we had 12 people in my group and put in a set amount for the gift/bag we gave out. Then the list was divided up and instead of delivering to 80 rooms, each person only had about 7 rooms to deliver to.

I would be happy to have another group. I think 12 is all I can handle, so if more want to join, feel free to start another group.:)

The best part of delivering FE gifts is seeing everyone else's door decorations. Plus the workout helps the keep the weight gain to a minimum.

Yesterday I rec'd the boxes of FE gifts I sent back from the Dolphin - like Christmas all over again! :goodvibes

I couldn't believe the amt of stuff...by the end of the 2nd day of the cruise we rec'd so much stuff I figured everyone must have delivered by then but every time we went back to the cabin there was MORE stuff!! :rotfl:

It was great to see everyone's door decorations and just enjoy them for what they were - their creativeness, fave characters, etc. DH was blown away by the doors :rotfl2: Great job all! :thumbsup2

We'll be in for the next FE round too...lots of time to plot :rolleyes1

And I need to thank everyone who used ziploc bags to distribute FE goodies! I pack liquids in ziploc bags, but had one item leak. Every time I packed/unpacked it had leaked again. It somehow hadn't occurred to me to pack extra empty bags. I was able to use the FE ziploc bags to put the offending container in solitary for the remainder of the trip!

(Packing note: put empty ziploc bags in suitcase on future trips!)

Our first fish extender! I am so excited! I read on the last fish extender post for the cruise that there are people that make them and sell them on ebay. I would love to be able to get one that way since I am so not creative. Can someone post the name for the person I should talk to?

Count me in on a group one! It will be so much fun to deliver all the goodies and see everyones doors. Can't wait.

I am glad you enjoyed the white boards!! It was a great idea, unfortunately the process to make them a reality was insane!!! First we bought the white boards at the dollar store, when we got them all home more than half of the markers didn't work! So we then had to go buy more markers seperately! We bought a roll of magnet stuff, to make the boards magnetic -- it wasn't strong enough to hold the board up. We then had to go buy packs of larger magnets and hot glue them to the back of the boards. After that we had to print the labels and stickers and add the Disney stickers!!!

I can't tell you happy it makes to me to know they were used and appreciated!!!!

We used our castaway club bag to store all of our FE gifts. It took up half of my suitcase. Thanks for doing the first one Jen, you did a GREAT job. I have to think of something new. I don't want to do CDs again. They took me FOREVER. I had to draw little pictures on each of them and then it took me TWO HOURS to deliver them. I might participate in a group one this time. Better go seach for ideas.

What if we made like 3 extra Fish extender packs up and pulled names of 3 non cruisers who had signed up before hand and we mailed them a Fish Extender package from CC or port when we got back?!? Would everyone be willing to make a few extras for our DIS friends who cannot be with us?

That is a good idea. If we got prepaid Priority Mail boxes, there would be a fixed rate no matter the weight, as long as the box was not contorted from its original shape.

I thoroughly enjoyed your CD, too. As did my car load of friends who are usually "too cool" to like stuff like that. I can't imagine what people thought that saw 5 guys driving down the freeway singing Under the Sea.

It depends. Were you wearing your tiara?

As for the FE, I didn't participate the last time because for several months we weren't sure if we were even going to be able to go or not and I didn't want to get involved if I had to cancel. By the time we were certain it was a go, the FE thread was so deep, I would've needed 2 weeks of vacation to wade through that thread. In hopelessness, I gave up. But this time, I'M ALL IN!

Thanks for the offer, Stacy. I was in 2629. And by the way, if anyone gets that cabin, GET IT CHANGED. It is right next to the luggage intake room for the gathering of the luggage on the last night. Thanks for the offer, Stacy. I was in 2629. And by the way, if anyone gets that cabin, GET IT CHANGED. It is right next to the luggage intake room for the gathering of the luggage on the last night. Heard banging very late into the night, had to have been after midnight before they quieted dow. I know not very late according to some, but late for my tastes. I am a delicate flower and need my sleep.

I would second this one!! I put my gift into little bags and then printed out small labels with our screen names on them and stuck them to the bags so folks knew who it was from...easy peasy!

OR.... You can get a pack of gum, cover it in construction paper, cut out a bunch of circles that look like ipod dials, cut out a box for the "from", glue, the circle and box to the front of the pack of gum that has been covered in construction paper. Then, punch a hole in the flap of the box, thread cord through the hole. And, then, hot glue little pom poms to each end of the cord.

Easy peasy!

Just thought I'd suggest or point out to the newbies. You don't HAVE to be from the same area to do a group gift. While that is a great idea to do them regionally, our group is all over the United States.

It's pretty easy if you venture over to the Creative Design Forum at almost the very bottom of the disboards. If you see something you like just save the picture to your computer, open it in word to size it and then print on magnet paper for your printer, or just print on regular paper and laminate. If you have any other questions or have any ideas for a design, I will be able to help you! :wizard:

I would like to reiterate what I believe Nicole or Jen already stated.

Fish Extender Groups don't need to be regional. It would make sense if you were doing a regional gift.

Our FE Group from PCC 1.0 had members from DE, IA, IN, PA, MI, FL, and MA. The internet is a wonderful tool of communication.

I think an international (EU even) group would be great! Too bad I'm domestic!

I know some groups are forming now, but there isn't a rush. There is still 18 months (from tomorrow) before we sail.

A group should 'close' once it is full. In other words, it should be based on number of people in a group, not over a certain time period.

It is my opinion that any more than a dozen participants may get to be too many. You should find the number of people that you feel works best for you. There were a couple of groups of two or three on PCC 1.0, and they worked smashingly.

I know the primer is coming, but with all this talk about groups- I have a question...

How does a group work?
Do you just give gifts to the people in your group?
Or does the group come up with one gift from that group and you still give it to all 200+ staterooms? But maybe each member of the group takes a portion of the total for distribution?

Or is it something else entirely? :confused3

That is what a group is about. Pooling your talent/resources/abilities to give a gift to all Fish Extender Participants. Splitting the delivery is a good idea, as it cuts down on leg work that everyone must do running all over the ship.

We had a group of 12. We each put in the same amount and ordered enough gifts for all the participants and a few extras for the podcast team. I tried to split up the deliveries according to each person's room location so they didn't have to go all over the ship. Each person delivered to about 8 rooms. Easy peasy.
