for counter service one of their sides is considered dessert though.

So they get say nuggets and they can have grapes and pudding as their sides. or carrots and a cookie. Or grapes and carrots but then no other dessert type item.

See the above post - a typical kids' meal has an entree and they are then entitled to pick two "sides" from a list - but on DDP one of those sides counts as dessert. They are not permitted to pick an entree, two sides AND a dessert.
