Asclepias-Also called Milkweed or Silkweed. Lovely flowers that come in several colors reds, pinks, orange, yellows and white. These flowers are loved by butterflies. I always plant a few in my herb garden, they brighten it up with color and it's great to walk out the door and see this little garden full of butterflies.

Asclepias likes sun and ordinary soil. It grows to heigths of 40 inches. It's a perennial that doesn't always come back, sometimes it returns for 2-3 years. Then one year it doesn't return.

There is a red Asclepias (incarnata) that has lovely vanilla-scented flowers.

Mamu, I love asclepias. I had one from my garden friend across the street. And it disappeared.

I figured I had done it in. I feel a bit better knowing that its natural habit is to disapppear and reappear. I'll keep looking in the hope it decides to visit my garden again.
