is the differnce in price worth it, trying to decide between the two, as the date we are considering is £230 difference for 4 nights/5 days.

I've never stayed at the Sequoia Lodge so I can't really advise but I have to say we really like Hotel Cheyenne, the cowboy theme is just great and depending on when you go you have little ponies outside :goodvibes SL is in a great position over looking the lake and I'd like to stay there one day but we have had quite a few stays in the Cheyenne and I love it. I'm not sure if the beds would affect your decision, in the cheyenne you get a double with a set of bunk beds whereas in SL I believe you get two doubles (although someone may correct me if I'm wrong) Good luck with your decision :goodvibes

We have stayed in both and chose them for specific reasons.
We stayed in Cheyenne once as we wanted the bunk beds and stayed in Sequoia Lodge as we wanted a swimming pool.
Both were nice and we would stay in them again but did notice the difference - the breakfast at S Lodge was more civilised (shown to a table instead of having to fight for one)

It's been 10 years(!) since we stayed at Cheyenne, and we stayed at Sequoia last month. I can't remember much specifics about Cheyenne but I do recall it was snowing quite heavily and it was colddddddd, which made the lack of internal passageways in the hotel that little more painful in the evenings.
We chose SL this time around as we were travelling with our 2 year old and conscious of the fact that April is rainy and yup it lashed rain for most of our three day trip so it was lovely in the evening to be able to go back to the room, dry off then pop down to the bar and children's play corner without having to venture outside.
Bedwise - we had a king room in SL, so something to look out for when booking if you need 2 doubles. It suited us fine and was lovely and spacious (and had a balcony which was such a luxury!)
Plus SL reminds me of Wilderness Lodge in WDW a bit, it has that charm, but Cheyenne is good fun, and the theming is great there.
Hmm.. so overall, I guess it depends on the make-up of your group and when you are going weather-wise. If it's winter or rainy, I'd say SL.
Edited to add: Obviously my brain isn't working! Only the Montana rooms in SL are connected to the main hotel so I guess my point is pointless if we're talking about a lodge room :)

thanks, 2 beds would be needed so thats defiantly something to consider, also we will be going around january so the inside room access may also be an advantage

If you want an inside room you need to book a Montana room - slightly more expensive but worth it.
Most rooms at SL have 2 doubles and all at Cheyenne have 1 double and bunks

Sequoia is a lovely hotel, and a few minutes less walking from the parks, something that I'd be very grateful for in the winter!! If you can afford the extra money then definitely go for SL. :) It's lovely to sit in the big bar by the fire and enjoy a hot chocolate. :goodvibes:
