Finally a nice sunny day, so I go for lunchtime walk.
Still nice after work, so I am go for evening walk.

I was walking with my partner, each of us plugged into our own podcasts on our ipods. I was walking faster, listening to the show, not paying attention, and boom! I caught my toe on a broken up sidewalk and down I went! Scraped knee, bruised hands from trying to break the fall, and slightly sprained ankle.

It was 20 minutes into the show (one mile), just heard the question about what would surprise us about the podcasters.

I didn't finish the show. My partner and I gave up our ipods and talked to each other as I slowly finished the walk. Walked almost an hour to finish up the four mile walk.

I am icing the ankle now. Saving the rest of the podcast for another walk. And, yes, I will be more careful!

Ouch - that sounds quite painful! I hope your banged-up body parts will heal quickly.

Just remember RICE - Rest - Ice - Compression (Wrap it) - Elevation.
Don't try and overdo getting back out on it. Give it a couple of days to heal.

I finally got around to doing my 30 Day Shred workout this afternoon. :yay: I can tell I haven't done it in awhile, because I had a hard time getting through the 2-minute cardio sections without stopping to catch my breath! Although it isn't the 60-minutes of exercise that Jillian Michaels recommends - it's better than no exercise.

Ohhhhhhh - sounds interesting - :scratchin - would you care to let us know what a "30 Day Shred" workout is? I need something new to do.

It's one of Jillian Michaels' (trainer on The Biggest Loser) DVD's:

The workouts are only 20 minutes each, but they're real butt-kickers!

Thank you so much for the link for the workout DVD. I watched the demo video they have - of course it only shows the warm-up :rotfl2:
Everything Jillian does is kick-butt - I'm going to see if I can find it in a store locally. Thanks again :)

Good for you, make sure you stay hydrated.
Did you walk indoors or outside?

I pushed my self a little more this week too, adding .5 miles to my morning walk distance. My walking partner was on vacation this past week, so I will have to break her in to my longer distance next week.

This morning, I walked 3.5 miles at the walking track around our little league park. It is nice, but the one I walk on during the week is nicer - it has a padded surface.

Walked in the forest preserve bike path. It was pretty hot, but there were plenty of areas where the walk took me into some shady areas.

I think I may have to try the track at the college near me. It is a very nice surface. No broken asphalt sidewalks for me to trip on like I did Thursday night. I am still nursing swollen ankle, scraped knee. And not till a day later did I realize that when I broke my fall with my arm, I really hurt my upper arm and shoulder.

My advice...
Exercise is good, but don't get hurt so that your exercise is then limited while you recover!

Great job, Lorie! Tell me, when you go to WDW, do you stay on plan at all or eat what you want but are more aware or just gorge? My trip is coming up fast! (Well, ok, 8 weeks, but that'll fly by!)

To be honest, I was keeping on plan for the most part when I did the Adventures by Disney trip to Disneyland/Hollywood in December. There were a LOT of buffets included as part of that trip, so I made sure I went in with a plan of action.

However, my next few trips are going to be highly food-centric. Obviously the food and wine festival trip will be a challenge. I am going to nosh around the World Showcase kiosks, but at least I will be walking in some mileage while I'm doing that! One of my friends suggested doing a lap for every item consumed, but I think that's pushing it WAY over the limit. I do like that idea, so maybe doing a lap for every third item consumed might toss in extra activity points.

But I will be planning on doing some festival dining events. The best I can do is to try to leave food on the plate. I figure that I will be doing a lot of walking on that trip, so I will indulge and not worry too much about keeping "on plan".

I have a trip in November to spend my 40th birthday in Vegas. (Woohoo!)
I have scheduled some major food into that trip, so I expect to come back a few pounds heavier! I don't indulge like this for every birthday, but I will be doing so for this birthday! Maybe I can get some walking in to counteract some of that damage.

In December, we have Dis-A-Palooza, and I know I'll be indulging then, too. I think by that time, I can try to rein it in a bit. It will probably be easier to deal with because there's no food and wine festival going on. I'll have you guys along with me, so we can be each other's "support system" if you think that'll help. :)

Just back from the film festival.
Tenth movie and four days and I finally gave in to a small bag of buttered popcorn. Just couldn't leave off the butter - they use real butter!

I gotta say, I love riding my bike back from the theater at 11:00 at night. A short ride, just under a mile and a half. The streets are deserted. I had to ride extra fast because it is cold on my bare legs - 54 degrees!

I wanted to walk at lunchtime today, but my sprained ankle from Thursday night was so extremely swollen I couldn't get it into my sneaker.

My eating has been okay, except for the buttered popcorn!

I walked 3.45 miles on my morning walk and then another mile at lunch. Then I spent my afternoon in Diversity/Safe Zone Training. I did eat a Chocolate Chip Cookie, but I also had some of the Fruit they had out for us to munch on.

This ten-day film festival with three films a night has cut back on regular exercise.

In order to leave early for the films, I work through lunch rather than going for a walk. I don't go to gym or on 3-4 mile walk after dinner. I am up too late to get up early to exercise.

However... I ride my bike from home to the two theaters that are showing the films. This gives me about five miles of biking. Plus I do short walks between the films.

And I am doing pretty good at not eating theater junk food!

Riding bike at 11:00 at night is so cool!

:thumbsup2 The Big Skinny: How I Changed My Fattitude by Carol Lay :thumbsup2

This is one of the best books on weight loss / getting fit I have read in a long time. Is a sequential-art (cartoon-like ) narrative, also known as a "graphic novel" format. It is an easy and fun read, gives all the information you need for sensible weight loss.

If you don't want to buy it, ask your local library to interlibrary loan it. The copy I read came from a library in Ohio.

Read the professional review, it says everything I would say. (and you can read more reviews at amazon.com)

From Booklist
A middle-aged cartoonist who has dealt with her own overeating and weight fluctuations since adolescence coaches readers in the simple but sturdy method she adopted to lose extra pounds, keep them off, and feel better emotionally and physically. Using herself as the model for learning calorie counting, accessible exercising, low-fat cooking, and the important social skills needed to turn down ruinously rich foods graciously in the office and at parties, Lay provides clear-eyed guidance free of touting memberships in commercial weight-loss programs, self-pity, and problems with sustainability. She draws her world with realism, showing how her body looked first as it burgeoned and then during times of severe fluctuation, depicting expressions on acquaintances’ faces as she discusses—and wisely chooses not to discuss—her reasons for saying “no thank you” to calorie-loaded offerings, and guiding readers through simple exercise regimens. She supplements the story with calorie charts and some ingredient-simple recipes. As weight-loss self-help and well-formed sequential-art narrative, The Big Skinny demonstrates that direct and simple can be satisfying approaches that yield admirable results. --Francisca Goldsmith

I picked up a set of those Resistance bands this morning - I saw an article in an old Weight Watcher magazine that showed 4 exercises for your arms. Hopefully this will help get rid of that "wavy glob" of upper arm flab ;)

O.K. guys here's the problem.
3 weeks ago I started using the wii fit to weigh myself.
I decide to try and save some money and only weigh in a weight watcher's once a month.
Now we used the wii fit to weigh our suitcases when going to WDW last time and it was right on according to the airlines scales.
According to the wii fit I have lost 6 pounds in 3 weeks.
I went and weigh in at WW this morning and according to their scales I had not lost anything and had in fact gained a 1/2 pound.
I find this hard to accept b/c I feel thinner, and I have continued the measuring and have lost inches as well.
DH says the scales at my WW where wrong, or off.
What do I do now.
DH thinks I should just keep going with the wii fit and see what happens next month when I go and weigh in.

What do you guys think?
:confused3:confused3:confused3

Haven't been in here (or online) in ages, it seems. Moving is the pits; Comcast making things difficult doesn't help. :headache:

I haven't been eating too well the last week, but I have been working like crazy (3rd floor walk up apartment... loooots of boxes, lol) so I'm not doing much damage vs. the scale (and my pants are still falling off, which as pluses and minuses :rolleyes1). I'm looking forward to getting back on track!

I have to say, I've found my balance board has always been pretty 'true' with my weight (well, after I put the little 'feet' on it; when the bottom touched the carpet it was hilariously wrong). I'd be very surprised if it was off by 6.5 pounds, unless you were wearing something very different at weigh in? :confused3
I think your husband's got the right idea; keep tracking it and see if it continues. Maybe the WW scale has something wrong with it. If the Wii Fit result was consistent rather than a sudden loss, I'd be inclined to trust it. Though if you want to be extra sure, I guess you could try changing the batteries.

Okay, you guys that are riding your bike in the evening when it is 54 degrees? It was 106 degrees here on the bank sign at seven p.m. when I came home from work! grrrrr I'm sure the bank sign was not quite correct but you see how hot it has been here the past ten days - all over 100 degrees! My thoughts on the Wii Fit.

Time of day matters. So does the choices of weighing with their tare weights with light/heavy clothing vs. the zero option. If you are choosing the zero clothing change option, weighing in at the same time of day as your WW weigh in, wearing similar clothes, then maybe that WW scale has an issue.

My WW meeting has actually three scales you can weigh in on. If they have different scales, maybe try weighing in on a different one if possible. But if you're consistent keeping the same weigh in conditions, it would be interesting to see if you'll hit a difference next month.

I weigh in on the wiifit at the same time each day.
I weighed in on the wiifit in the same clothes I wore to weight watcher's.
I then left and went directly to WW and did eat or drink anything before I weighed in there.
So I will take your advice and DH and continue to use the Wiifit to weigh in and see what happens again next month. :)
Thank you again for your advice, and will keep you posted.:thumbsup2

We're almost finished moving; I've been a week without the scale (for whatever reason we kept not grabbing it). Tomorrow's weigh in should be interesting. :scared:

With all the cardio from moving, you should be ok. love that you kept forgetting to move the scale :rotfl2:

Weigh in result: -.4

I'll take it!

as long as there is a minus in front of the number, it's a good week.

Got in a great workout and had a great overall week. Biked 10 miles and ran 3 yesterday, totalled about 15 miles this week and hit the gym 4 times. Hopefully this shows on the scale next week. Maybe if I didn't go to anymore cookouts I'd have better luck.

Wow!! That does sound like a very successful week. We've been going out walking every night, taking different routes each time so it doesn't get boring. If I could just get the training wheels off the kids' bikes, it would be so much easier to go biking with them. Right now, the bike is still getting stuck if the pavement is uneven! :rotfl2:

Hi all -

Yesterday was weigh in - No Change this week.

This morning I walked 3.25 miles and then I walked another mile at lunch time.

I decided over the weekend to join the YMCA so that I can add water aerobics and other exercise to my routine to see if I can break past my wall. Plus one of the two locations the membership works at has an indoor walking track, so that will help on rainy days and with the cooler days of the fall & winter.

Tracy - Your walking habits are fantastic! Good decision to join the Y. Water Aerobics is a fun activity to add to the mix.

My weight is the same as last week.
Between the film festival last week and family & funeral for the next week, my good habits are blown away! Hope to get back to a good routine soon.

I came to update the week # and post here yesterday, and I am not sure what happened. I thought about it once I was in bed last night and decided it could wait until this morning. :goodvibes

I lost 2.8 lbs at my WI this week, but that still leaves me up from where I started. :sad2:

I am going to water aerobics tonight and hope I can get into the swing of going a few days a week. I really need to get some activity in, and my foot is just not allowing anything impact exercise at the moment.

Have a great week all!

My mom died in January and the funeral was in Michigan. Your post reminded me that my sister and I drove to about 5 gas stations (at night - once we remembered) to buy newspapers with her obituary! Fortunately for us, my mom's house was in Florida, so we made 2 trips there (in Jan. and March) to go through her stuff and get the house ready to sell. And since she lived only an hour from WDW and I had an annual pass - I saw Off Kilter a few times, too! :)

I just wanted to share with you what happens when you lose weight.

Your doctor will be very proud of you.
Well, at least mine was. She was thrilled that my bloodwork came back with improvements over last time, due mainly I believe to be my healthier habits.

For the first time in a few years, my cholesterol went under 200. I was hovering around 208 or so. Well, it's now 188! My blood pressure was 124/70, and even my pulse was 65/bpm vs. the 72/bpm my body took when I carried more weight.

I still need to boost the good cholestorol and lower the triglycerides a slight amount, but boosting activity and having either more salmon/avocodo/nuts to my diet (or taking fish oil supplements) might boost me back to the levels I need.

Still, by the end of my appointment, my doctor said that I made her day. I'm close to halfway to my goal, but I may or may not make goal before the cruise. Even if I don't make it by the cruise, I'll still be close enough to it to be ecstatic.

Congratulations on your success! After reading this, I took my vitamins - including fish oil! :teeth:

I have an appt. in 2 weeks for a physical with my primary care physician. I don't recall the last time I had one, although I have gone to my OB-GYN for yearly exams. Now that I'm officially a senior citizen (AARP told me so!) - I'm sure the doctor will order all kinds of tests. My LDL/HDL ratio wasn't what it should be a few years ago, but my triglycerides dropped a LOT when I cut way back on refined carbs and lost (and subsequently found!) about 25 pounds.

Now I am off to the basement to ride the exercise bike and do some cross country skiing on the Nordic Track! :woohoo:

Due to rain this morning and off and on all day, I went to the YMCA (weather was one of the reasons I decided on getting the membership, as our weather has been crazy this summer)

I walked 2.25 miles on their indoor walking track, then I tried out some of the cardio equipment. I did 3 miles on the Spinning Bike and I did 2000 steps on the BioStep Cross trainer.

I still want to do a water class or two, but their schedule doesn't fit my schedule very well. I am hoping it will change in the fall, but the lady I spoke to this morning, indicated that it didn't change much from Spring into the Summer session, so she is not sure how much it will change this fall.

Tomorrow is weigh-in, Hoping to change the banner below with tomorrow's number.

Some of you guys are really rockin too!!! :worship::worship:

I am finally starting to accept that any kind of impact exercise is out of the question for my foot for awhile. Stephan is awaiting a new workout plan from Paul which in turn I hope motivates me to hit the gym with him for water aerobics and weights. I have no excuse other than laziness as to why I haven't done that before now.

Something that might help until your foot is better, I recently bought myself a set of those resistance bands. There are a lot of exercises that don't require any foot strain whatsoever. I've been using them primarily for arm workouts and I think you might find them beneficial. I think you get pick up a single band at Target for less than $15.00, they have several different resistant strengths.

Oh.... OUCH! That sounds awful. Please wish him welll for me.

My falls have mostly been from ice. Except from one really bad one when I tripped down a flight of stairs, broke a window at the bottom, ended up emergency then overnight in the hospital. I had a heart contusion and was out of work for over a week.

Unable to walk this morning due to Rain. :sad2: I'll go to the YMCA tonight to make up for it.

I walked 4 miles on Monday and 2.5 yesterday.

I ate too much yesterday, our Division had our annual Potluck/Cookout and it was also my Dad's Birthday, so I had a plate full of food at lunch and Pie at Mom and Dad's to celebrate. We had a little to two different Pies leftover, not enough to have a piece of one or the other, so we split the leftover Pies 3 ways and had a little of each. We wanted to use the pies up as my birthday is next week, so we didn't want two cakes back to back, as that is too much sweet.

Wow, we just moved my grandmother to hospice yesterday. She went downhill after breaking a hip. Developed pneumonia and such, and she's basically in the "keep them comfortable" stage now. We're expecting it to be within a day or so. So I'll be thinking of you and hope you're thinking of me, too.

I was worried about being out of my good habits when I was dealing with my mom's funeral was going to show the wrong way on the scale. But I still seem to be maintaining the downward trend. I will confirm on Monday weigh-in day.

I walked 2.5 to 3.5 miles everyday this week. I did not walk today, I went car shopping instead. I'll may go to the YMCA tomorrow afternoon to make up for not walking today, if I feel up to it.. We have another rain front moving in overnight tonight and these have been giving me horrible sinus pressure headaches when they pass through the area. :headache:

Tomorrow is weigh in day, so I will let you know the results. Early indications are that there will be little or no change from last weeks numbers.

I think for some the goal is too far away. I think the more dedicated ones to making Life Changes are the ones posting. My posts are down as I don't have a lot of free time to be on the boards right now. This is our busiest time at work as we gear up for School to start on the 24th. Also, Dealing with the flood aftermath, has also caused added stress personally with my car issues and at work as many departments lost everything as a result of the damage to their buildings and are scrambling to get necessary forms and other documents reprinted.

I gained a couple of STRESS pounds last week. I have continued my walking, despite days we haven't felt like going due to the stress of dealing with the flooded vehicles and the insurance nightmares.

Everyone keep up the good work, there are going to be good and bad days.

Ah, yes! Exercise!

Today I biked 4 miles to the gym, did full weight workout and mile and a half on treadmill. Rode five miles to hot dog stand for lunch and back home. Enjoyed the afternoon in the air-conditioned apartment. After supper walked several miles to the shopping center, walked the inside air-conditioned perimeter of three large stores. Tried on sneakers looking for the perfect fit. All exercise, right?

Did you read the cover article in the recent Time magazine? It said that you can't lose weight by exercising! You have to cut calories. Well, yeah... The author seemed to think that exercising makes you hungry and will cause you to eat more. He does still say that exercise has many health benefit, but won't make you lose weight.

Well, I am still going to keep moving! Hope you all join me.

I saw the Time article, and I don't agree with it. I haven't noticed that exercise makes me hungrier. But when I do exercise, it makes me feel better about myself and want to eat foods that are good for me - in spite of the Blizzard I had tonight! One can certainly lose weight without exercising, but you'll look and feel better if you do.

Exercise makes me more aware of my body. I don't want to un-do whatever good I have done exercising by eating unhealthy foods. Well, at least it makes me think about it. I still do sometimes, of course.

I am really enjoying and being inspired by this book :goodvibes
Younger Next Year for Women: Live Strong, Fit, and Sexy - Until You're 80 and Beyond by Chris Crowley and Henry S. Lodge M.D. M.D.
They also wrote Younger Next Year: Live Strong, Fit, and SexyUntil You're 80 and Beyond, more aimed at men.

It is aimed at women in mid-life, fifties. Helps them prepare for the "next third of their life". Their idea is that you are probably going to live into your seventies or eighties. But you can chose to be fit and live a fully functioning life longer. You can put off 70 percent of the normal problems of aging - weakness, sore joints, bad balance - and eliminate 50 percent of serious illness and injury.

It is both scientific (no whoo hoo or mumble jumble) and inspirational.

I am going to adopt the seven rules. :thumbsup2

Harry’s Rules
1. Exercise six days a week for the rest of your life.
2. Do serious aerobic exercise four days a week for the rest of your life
3. Do serious strength training, with weights, two days a week for the rest of your life.
4. Spend less than you make.
5. Quit eating crap.
6. Care.
7. Connect and commit.

Good luck with finding your own way!

Thanks for the book recommendation, Lyn. My grandma was 4 months shy of her 100th birthday when she died, and she kept active until the last few months of her life. My mom, on the other hand, was never active, and she found it harder and harder to get around as she got older - even in her own home. She lived a long life and died at age 83 in January, but she lived with a lot of pain in her later years. I want to age like my grandma and not like my mom.

However my sister keeps telling me you wouldn't start your day without showering or brushing your teeth so you shouldn't go a day without excerising. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Today was a weigh in day.

I lost 3.6 lbs. today.

:banana::banana::banana::banana:

Do you know what this means? If I lost 3.8 lbs. today, I would have hit the 50 lb. mark! :faint:

And this is after I had lobster BLT flatbread and salad with Jaime at Uno's last Sunday. :teeth: Looks like splitting the meal helped me.

Next week, I think I can lose .2 of a pound to hit my 50. If I lost another 2 lbs. beyond that, I would have lost my second 10%. Whee!

Hi All, Work is extremely busy this time of year, so I am not posting regularly.

I am still walking everyday (approximately 2.5 miles a day).

Yesterday was weigh in. My weight is moving back in the right direction after the stressful set back earlier this month due to dealing with the flood.

I lost 3lbs. this week. I have lost 23.8 lbs in 13 weeks.

:banana:YEAH!!!!

Yay :yay: Tracey!!!

Last week I did lots of extra walking. I started back with the food journal I had given up mid-July. And instead of just writing what I ate, I am putting down the calories. I am doing my best to be honest about remembering to write what I ate and tabulating calories pretty well. I think this might be making me eat less, if so, good!

Tomorrow I go for medical appointment - follow up from twelve weeks ago. She wanted to see how I was doing. I hope I impress.

I think my weight loss has been about a pound a week. I wish I could do Tracey's two pounds a week. Heck! If I could keep up with taking off one pound a week (and keep off!), that would put me in a real good place for the podcast cruise!

Tracey's going at a pretty fast pace, but that's not the right pace for everyone. I'm averaging arourd a pound a week now, give or take the ups and downs. I'm thinking that I've not only lost, but maintained the loss for 9 months so far! If you could do that, you'll be fine. :)

I want to share the victory I went through today. I call it the Cake Gauntlet. :scared1:

First, in the corporate building I work at, I saw a lonely last piece of cake while I was getting my lunch out of the fridge. I focused on getting myself out of there to go to the work-based weight loss meeting. (Yep, I weigh in twice a week! Yikes.) So I forgot there was a bakery cake cut from a 40 year anniversary celebration in the cafeteria across the way, so I passed it by reluctantly.

I went to get weighed in, and nobody else showed up, so I was heading back past the Cake Gauntlet when a coworker from Corporate was heading to the meeting. I decided to brave the Gauntlet and have a mini-meeting with the three people who showed up today.

We had a contest (when more people were going) that we could chip in $5 each to see who loses the highest percentage at the end of August. I won by default. I'm $35 richer. But more importantly, I survived the Cake Gauntlet 4 times!

Results of my medical appointmet - 13 pounds in 13 weeks. Steady as she goes. All the numbers from my blood tests are good. She said that the exercise is good for cholesterol levels.
I do need to get my ankle x-rayed. Although it seldom hurts, it is still swollen from the fall I took six weeks ago.

Have you tried Sparkpeople.com? She reccomended that for keeping track of food intake. I have been reading the helpful email articles and links. Not sure I want to track calories there.

Where are you cruising?

Is it true that taking the stairs is faster than waiting for the elevator?
Are the stairways "nice" on cruise ships? I am thinking of the stairs in hotels - they are often bare and utilitarian and make me think I shouldn't be there.

Lyn - congratulations on your weight loss and the good blood test results!

My husband and I are on a Transatlantic cruise from Harwich, England to Bayonne, NJ - with stops in France, Ireland, Scotland, Iceland, and Canada. The ship sails Sept. 5 - so there's still time for you to fly to London! :) The trip has been 17 months in the planning, but I still procrastinate until the last minute when it comes to packing.

The public stairs on cruise ships are usually carpeted and very nice. Taking the stairs can be faster than waiting for the elevator, but I take the stairs more for exercise.

So my Mom went into hospice 07/28 and passed away 07/31. I did fine with WW while she was IN hospice, but the day after she died, I needed garlic fries. Immediately. :guilty:

I have spent the last month fighting to get back on track.

I was at 14.6# lost so far when this all started.

I gained 2.8# the first week.

I lost 2.4# the next week.

Then a week where I stayed the same.

Then I gained another 1.4# puitting me at a loss of 12.8.

That's when I got mad. Not at myself. Not at the program. Not even at the food I'd been eating.

But at the 15# loss mark.

It was RIGHT THERE - eluding me week after week...

I held on to that anger all week and used it to stop from eating things that would keep me from achieving my goal.

That brings us to today's weigh in.

I lost 3.8# for a total of 16.6 lost!!!!!!

I kicked Weight Watcher's butt! :cool1:

Now, if you'll all excuse me - I'm going to DISNEYWORLD!!!!!

Wow, Jaime, that's awesome!

For me, it was something similar, but it's the 50 lb mark. It's totally mocking me. I had a similarly stressful month :hug: and had the ups and downs. I had a really good week a couple weeks ago, but had a small .8 gain this past week. If I lose exactly 1 lb, I will get to 50 lbs. lost.

But for some reason, I feel like I'm just not pushing myself to get there, and I think I need a good swift kick in the butt.

Lori, that is fabulous. I don't know where or when you started. But it is a milestone to celebrate. (but not with food!)

Your achievement makes me realize that while some people think I am fit because I can walk and hike and bike ride and do water aerobics, I am still carrying around more than I should be. And if I took off my own 50 extra pounds, then I could climb to the top of the mountain at Acadia without having to stop to catch my breath as often.

This group is giving me inspiration. I have great hopes for slowly taking the weight off and keeping it off so I will be in REAL FINE SHAPE by December 2010!

Okay - where is everyone?!

Hope you haven't given up. I almost did.

Since I started eating mindfully back in June I learned...
when I don't snack so much, I lose weight.
when I walk every morning, in addition to the exercise I was doing, I lose weight.
when I start snacking again, I gained a few pounds.
when I went to my mother's house and got off my routine, I gained a few pounds.

In early October I hit a low weight. Then I gained five pounds in about two weeks.
I am back on track. And back to the low weight. I plan to keep to the good habits and keep losing weight.

I will not be in a skinny bikini by PCC 2.0. But I will look and feel better and will be in clothes a few sizes smaller.

Hey, I was just going to ask if I could join this thread...as I am not Shaping up for 2.0, but hopefully I will be shaping up for life.

I recently went to the doctor and gained 30 lbs since PCC 1.0 (during PCC 1.0 I was still about 60 lbs overweight:scared1:) and my blood pressure is still high 140/90.

I have heard so many people that are having a fun time with the C25K program that I decided to finally download it to my Ipod Touch. Then, after looking at it for more than a week...and thinking...there is no way I will ever be able to run for 60 seconds straight (I haven't exercised in 3 years) I finally ran outside last Thursday. My mom wanted to do the program with me so on Saturday I ran with my mom and we ran again this morning before work! I hope I can keep up with the program!

My legs are already feeling stronger/tighter/more tone :yay:

Good for you Shanan!! I have been walking for 6 months on the 30th. Start out slow and build your self up. My ankles are not made for running, so, I am just walking, I have lost 25lbs in 6 months (granted I gained 5lbs at WDW in October and had to re-lose those added lbs again).

That's great Shanan!!! I found having someone to do it with to be helpful, too.

I find I just point and laugh at those around me... :lmao:

J/K - but I hate exercise - if there isn't any ice cream at the end of a walk, I can't figure out why I got off the couch to start with.

And all that talk of that 90pk thingie... I went to the website - it says they switch up the routines everyday to keep you from getting bored - I was bored reading the website. Exercise and I do not get along. It's like a bad trip roommate - I know by the end of the first day if I'm in trouble or not!

But I do love to dance (speaking of pointing and laughing). And I admire everyone who has the ability to work out... it's just NEVER gonna be me. So back to the diet I go!

It took 4 months, but I have officially lost 10% of my body weight!

I owe this to your support (and swearing off of take out pizza):

Congratulations. Inspire me some more, please. I am behind in losing.
What is the thing in your photo?

I am so glad to see some activity in this thread. It has been so dead lately.

I haven't done well at all at getting up early to walk in the morning - too dark for me. I am still doing some form of exercise at night.

My good eating habits have been slipping. Gotta eat this apple that is staring at me!

Thanks for all the encouragement :).

Jaime that is awesome that you have something new in your siggy!

I need to start eating better but that will happen after the holidays :). I figure as long as I am getting use to exercising. my body won't freak out as bad as exercising and eating better all at once! I am starting week 2 of the C25K program on Friday!

I have 'fallen off the wagon' too. But its time to pick my self up by the boot straps and start at it again.

My eating habits haven't been great lately, but I've been exercising most days. Today I passed the 6-mile mark in my cardio workout on the Nordic Track and stationary bike. :woohoo: I'll be at Castaway Cay 11 days from now, and I plan to do my first 5k run/walk there. I figure if I can go twice the distance at home in my basement - what's a mere 3 miles at CC? :teeth:

Nancy, the Reunion Cruise? Have a wonderful time.
I can cover the 5K distance, but it would be walking, not running.

Thanks, Lyn! Yes, I'll be on the Reunion Cruise - formerly known as the MouseFest cruise before MouseFest was cancelled.

My first attempt at a 5K will also be walking, as I fear for my joints at my age! :lmao:

Have a blast on the cruise!!! I think by this point it is more mental than a physical challenge for you.

I haven't visited in a while, but wanted to give an update:

I have continued my walking and despite a slight setback after my October trip to Texas & WDW where I gained 5lbs, I can officially announce as of a week ago, I lost those 5lbs and an additional 2lbs.

My best news is this week, I weighed in two mornings in a row, I have lost an additional 10lbs making my Total Weight loss since June 1st of 38lbs.

We started this thread when we were over a year and a half away from the cruise. Now it is in less than a year!

Last summer I had developed soem good habits and was getting good results. OOPS! Last few months I have strayed from the good habits and have gained back some of the weight I had lost.

Anyone want to keep this thread active and help keep me on the right path?

Tracy,
I think you have inspired me. I am traveling 1/27 until 2/4. I plan on walking during those times and continuing after returning home. I had a great time at Rainforest (Our favorite LOL). Looking forward to seeing you again on the cruise. I am booking onboard the Jan 31 cruise. I'll try to post daily on Facebook also. I lost my job the day we got back from our Dec Cruise so I have lots of time.

I would like to join in on this thread if that's alright? I akipped around this thread and read several posts ( too many to read all of them ) and I really like the support that you all give one and other. Now since I did not read the whole thread is there any requirements or rules, such as weelly weigh ins or do you just post your progress as you go along? Thanks!

Two pounds per week would be do-able. But can you keep it off? I did well last summer into early fall with slow and steady weight loss. Then I stopped paying attention and punds crept back on!

If you want to start diet before April, well, NOW is before April.
But watch out for going on a "diet". Better would be to develope good eating and fitness habits that will be with you for the rest of your life.

Good luck. We are all doing it together.

Are you going on the podcast cruise?
As far as I know, that is the only "requirement" and I am sure that is not a hard and fast rule.

I don't think we have any rules, no weigh-ins or reporting requirements.

We lend support and cheer each other on.
Admit to setbacks and accept encouragement from others.

Welcome!

I don't know if I can keep it off, but I sure as heck can try! I took the first step and bought myself a scale. I have never owned one, so I never really knew when the pounds were creeping back on. I have lost 60 lbs before using just the South Beach Diet, but then I got pregnant. It is hard to keep weight off during the winter isn't it! I swear our bodies go into hibernation mode and storing!

Yep, it isn't really a diet, it is a way of life! I definitely will treat myself once in a while though! As far as why not start the way of life now, I have alot of food that is not South Beach friendly that needs to get out of the house and I don't want to throw it away..so I will be eating it, gotta save my pennies!:thumbsup2
