I am really excited as we just booked our first stay as DVC owners for this Nov !:yay: We booked a 2 bedroom at VWL since there will be 4 adults and 2 children. I was hoping for a dedicated so we would have the 2 beds but none were available so we booked a lock off. We are waitlisted for a dedicated. My question is besides the 2 beds is there much difference? Is one larger than the other? Are there any benefits to one over the other? Thanks!

The lockoff will have a separate entrance in the second bedroom and will also have a kitchenette (since it's a studio). The size is the same.

I'm trying to remember... is there a balcony off the 2nd bedroom in a dedicated at VWL?

I believe so, because technically it is a studio.

I believe so, because technically it is a studio.Yes, I know the lock-off has a second balcony for the studio. I was thinking that extra balcony was a difference between the lock-off and the dedicated. I can't remember our 2nd bedroom having a balcony door when we were in a VWL dedicated 2BDRM. Not sure if that's the case, or if it's just my memory playing games with me. (Friends were using the 2nd bedroom, so I didn't go in there much.)

If you have a lockout 2-bedroom unit, can you still enter and exit via the studio unit? Or does the room key only work on the door on the 1-bedroom unit? My wife and I are thinking of doing a trip with my sister, her DH, and their 2DD. We would use the studio portion, and they would use the 1-bedroom. If we can use separate doors, then we can come and go without disturbing each other.

Tell them that's how you want the keys coded when you check in. If you also want to have a key to get into the main door, they can give you a second one for that. (I'd recommend this in case you want to get to the kitchen and the connecting door is still closed from the night before.)

Dave that's not fair...you post your friends picture after they were in there room for a couple nights and your room the day you checked in!!!:rotfl::rotfl:LOL, not guilty! Those pictures were taken 5 minutes apart.

Out of fairness, though, we're there in Disney much more than they are. They were doing commando days -- rope drop to closing. We were on a much more relaxed pace, and had time to deal with things like making beds and hanging out at the resort. In other words, we've been DVC-afied.

If we can use separate doors, then we can come and go without disturbing each other. All keys will work in both doors if you book a 2BR lockout.

Note: The lockout design is one of the few mistakes at VWL. The connecting door is in the middle of the living room. I much prefer the newer DVC's, where the connecting door is up near the outside hallway doors.
