I read the sad news tonight that Wayne Allwine, the voice of Mickey Mouse, has passed away. (http://www.wdwnewstoday.com/archives/3573) He's survived by his wife, Russi Taylor, who is the voice of Minnie Mouse.

Here's a sweet interview with them that I found on youtube. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSa1FlrTINg)

RIP.

Updated to add that his death has now been confirmed by Disney (http://legends.disney.go.com/legends/detail?key=Wayne%20Allwine)(via @TheDisneyBlog (http://twitter.com/TheDisneyBlog/status/1855413741))

Here's a nice tribute to him from the D23 site. (http://d23.disney.go.com/articles/052009_NF_FEAT_WayneAllwine.html)

I read that his first work was on the New Mickey Mouse Club back in 1977. I remember watching that show as a 5-year-old and wanting to stay at the hotel that had the monorail running through it just like the Mouseketeers did. I just loved that show! Very happy memories for me. He and his voice will be missed.

:sad1: How very sad. :sad1: That is young (in my book) I wonder what happened? Some people should be "allowed" to be with us for a much longer time. He definitely falls into that category.

I read that he died of complications from Diabetes. It's very sad :sad1:

Thank you for posting this, it was so sweet :lovestruc I'm so sad thinking about Russi's loss...and all of our losses...I've never lived in the time of another Mickey voice, I don't know how it'll be! I like in the 2nd part of the series he talks about the transition between the last Mickey and him...makes me hopeful for the future, even without him :guilty:

Can you imagine how hard it will be for Russi, doing minnie, while another man does Mickey?

I hope they can get someone who can perform the voice as well if not better. Wayne is the first time mickey sounded natural. You know?

That made me think of what Minnie says 5 minutes before the Philharmagic theater doors open up. Something about how she loves the show almost as much as she loves the conductor. Russi Taylor could say that with real feeling.
