View Full Version : Half Board Vouchers - How do they work?

I know this has probably been asked 1000s of times :headache: But I really don't understand the HB voucher scheme. I understand that there are 3 different tiers but don't understand how you use them (ie do you have to use one every day per person), can you carry over to another day? Use them for something else at face value etc? When do you have to pay more than the voucher (does this happen with the Premium if you stick to the starter/main/dessert/one drink rule?). Do you have to pick off a set menu at many restaurants??
Is there an explanation anywhere I can look at - the official Disney site doesn't really explain - well not to my 'challenged' brain anyway :rotfl:
Thanks

I'll try to help out as much as I can....
1. You are issued one voucher per person per night of your stay. 4 nights = 4 vouchers.
2. Your vouchers are valid for the duration of your stay, not for just one particular day. You can use two vouchers on the same day if you wish, but for separate meals. Some have said you can double up your vouchers but others have been refused. I would go with one per person per meal to be on the safe side.
3. Your vouchers, which ever tier you chose, will have their own set menu to chose from and from these you will get the best value. You can use your vouchers against the normal menu in ANY restaurant (apart from King Ludwigs and RainForest Cafe) and pay the difference.
4. If you order one adult meal you will use one adult voucher to pay for it, and same with a child. Usually you will have to hand over one voucher per person if you are ordering from your particular menu, and also if you order of the general menu. Some people have tried to pay for a meal with less vouchers per person but I've found that they insist on a voucher for every member of your party.
5. To make the most of your vouchers it may be an idea to stick to the set menu for your tier to avoid paying extra (apart from extra drinks) Premium vouchers are great as you can trade them for Buffalo Bills and the princess meal at no extra cost.
6. I hope this helps as I've been through this too!!! :thumbsup2

Aww thanks very much for the reply Lisa :thumbsup2
That makes it clearer - thanks so much as I know this has been asked before loads of times but I still couldn't get my head around it.
One other thing, if we do go back, we won't arrive until 6.30 - 8 pm ish on our first night so wouldn't want to eat really. Would we have to have a voucher for that night (I know you said you can use them for duration of your stay but it seems two vouchers per person for one day is a bit much - means either 'wasting' one by just having a snack, or having two large meals in one day which I don't think we'd do?)....
We would probably go Sun - Thurs so 4 nights as you said.
Anyone know the current cost of the schemes? Is it on DLRP Magic?
