I was recently blessed with the diagnosis of sleep apnea, and now have to use a CPAP machine when I sleep. If you don't know what one is, it's basically an air compressor that forces air into my nose, which keeps my airway open at night, so that I my airway doesn't block and I don't quit breathing and wake up(without it, I quit breathing 85 times per hour. :earseek: When I wear the face mask, my wife says I look like a Borg. She calls me her little Hoover Head!)

Anyway, I was wondering if there are outlets near the right side of the bed, so I can plug the machine into it. If not, what's the closest, so that I can bring that length of extension cord? Any other "hoover heads" bring their CPAP onto the boat?

No, there are no outlets by the bed but there are by the desk...definitely bring an extension cord.

I know there are others who have brought their CPAP machines onboard, hopefully they can give you some other hints! :D

I have read that a 10ft cord is needed to plug the CPAP in.. :)

Welcome to the club, Randy.

You're not alone. There have been a number of discussions on here about CPAP machines. I've been using one for 5-6 years. My father died at an early age. Looking back, I realize he also had sleep apnea and I'm sure it led to his early death.

So, I don't give it a second thought. A borg, huh.

Yes, you'll need an extension cord. I'm cruising next month and plan to bring my CPAP (and two extension cords). I'll need all the rest I can get to keep up with my kids and DW. They have so many activities planned already.

Good luck!

Thank you - DH is also a "hoover head"
He takes his machine everywhere with him. The airlines dont count it as a carry-on as its a medical necessity.
I never thought to ask if he would need an extension cord. Thanks for letting me know.

I also have a CPAP. I was in a cat. 9, slept on the right side and my cord reached to the outlet that was near the tv. I didn't take an extension cord, but the room steward offered one to me. I didn't need it.
I also have a humidifier with my CPAP and took the distilled water in a drinking water bottle and labeled it as distilled water.
You shouldn't have any problems.

Have a super, great trip!

I usually leave my humidity unit at home while travelling and just take the CPAP. I have an extra six foot and hose with mine, along with a connector, and in some hotels have had to set the CPAP on a chair between me and an outlet. I won't know about the Cruise Line though until July. :)
