Hope you get through to the doctor.

Woo Hoo!! We love newbies!!! Can we convince them to come on the cruise?

No luck this morning...my window of opportunity for an appointment has closed - I will have to wait and try to get through later to get something for next week. :headache:

I would love to bring DNephew on 2.0 with us...but the hoops to get him a passport before he is 16 would bring WAY too much drama. We are stuck planning for him for 2011...

Business Ethics...great fun...lol

Could be worse I'm sure.

Tracy is on FB? Dang I can't keep up with anything!

DP dropped a bomb shell on me on Sunday. It took a while to sink in and I had to ask him again to see if he was serious last night. It seems as though his mother and sister may be moving in with us.:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared::scared::sca red:

I am only looking at the positive side of things right now.
•someone else can share in the cooking
•I will become fluent in Mexican-Spanish in three months
•The bills will be split. Which might mean D-a-P!

Oh Todd  hope it all works out ok! Good to have the positive attitude and it'll be great if you can then afford to go to DAP :yay: And you'll have a few days 'away' from things.

I'm sure it will be fine, if not we're all here for you

Dreary and rainy here in western Mass for the next few days. Two more days until I leave for Disneyland. It looks like the weather will be better there.

Good luck on the living situation Todd.

Yum, sangria! There is something to be said for a good sangria, you know.

Everything happens for a reason. I really like that you are focusing on the positives. So many times we only focus on the negatives and therefore, dwell on them without ever seeing the good. I'm sure if they didn't have to live with you, they wouldn't want to invade your private space. It must be for a good reason; you are a good person for helping them out.

Selfishly, I am glad to hear you might be able to make it to DAP!!!

Morning folks!

I think I am going to head out for that mani I didn't get around to yesterday.

I did get to meet Ryne Sandberg (former Cubs 2nd baseman for those of you who have no idea who I am talking about) last night though!! He was my idol when I was a kid, so it was awesome!! I have had a plaque with one of his cards on my desk at work for years. Then, in Dec, it was announced that he is managing the minor league team 10 miles from our house. After the game last night, I was going through some old papers brought over from my Dad's, and I found a paper I wrote on him in the 8th grade and an outline of a speech I did on him in the 7th. :goodvibes

I hope everyone has a great Sunday!!

Thanks to you all! Yesterday was very emotional. My dear friend went into the hospital for an asthma treatment last week, they were prepared to release her when she lost consciousness and died. I'm sure they have figured out now what happened to her but yesterday wasn't the day for asking questions and up until then, they really didn't know. Stress usually ends in a migraine for me but thankfully it didn't last night however it was an emotionally exhausting day. I just didn't think I could handle the quickness of chat! I did go through the boards though and you guys always make me feel better, no matter what. :grouphug: It is just like having a big, extended family whenever you need then but without the guilt and headache!

I just hope I can stay awake in our Diversity Training this morning. I'm sure many companies have this, but you dont work for an insurance company, do you?

I had a Sinus Pressure Headache last night ahead of the storms moving in, that caused me to go to bed early, instead of going to Chat. Then the weather alarm went off around Midnight for the Tornado Watch, then the storms moved in around 3 a.m. and I never really got back to sleep..Then the alarm went off at 4:30 a.m. time to get up to go to work..

Kathy, I understand about your Dog, my parents have 2 70+lb dogs that insist on sleeping with you or cuddling very close to you when it is storming.

My dogs can't be bothered to get out of bed, unless you are knocking on the door. They give me grief when the alarm goes off and bury themselves back under the covers until their other daddy gets up.

I tend to get those, I was feeling light headed all day yesterday (never felt like that before!) and I wondered if it was a bit of pressure.

Wow that's a nasty wake up :scared1: sometimes I'm glad we live in a fairly temperate area ;)

Newbie alert! :) I just thought I'd jump in here and say hi and introduce myself. I'm hoping to get to know my fellow cruisers before the big event. :thumbsup2 I've been a member on the boards for a while, but mostly lurk. I am a little timid, I guess. So, I'm trying to work on that. I've been listening to the podcast for a little over a year now, and I think it is just great!

I'm a single mom of two sons, and they love Disney almost as much as I do. We didn't go on our first trip until 2004, but we've been hooked ever since.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing you all in a little over 500 days. :cool1: And, I look forward to getting to know you in the meantime.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing you all in a little over 500 days. :cool1: And, I look forward to getting to know you in the meantime.

Welcome, once you get to know us you'll be fine! We're a very friendly 'clique' (I hate that word!)

:welcome: And you already took the first step in getting to know people, posting and saying "Hi!" Don't be shy, come on it, the water is warm.

From Wikipedia;

Bismuth subsalicylate, with a chemical formula C7H5BiO4, is a drug used to treat nausea, heartburn, indigestion, diarrhea, and other temporary discomforts of the stomach and gastrointestinal tract. Commonly known as pink bismuth, it is the active ingredient in popular medications such as Pepto-Bismol and (modern, since 2003) Kaopectate.

Afer watching the footage they saw the lad on his cell phone talking to someone then walking around in the street before lying down - it was raining too :sad2: I can't believe someone would be as stupid as to fake an accident, the youth of today eh?

Hope you get more sleep tonight! :wizard:

My dogs can't be bothered to get out of bed, unless you are knocking on the door. They give me grief when the alarm goes off and bury themselves back under the covers until their other daddy gets up.

Do they like to burrow? Dachshunds are soo cute when they burrow!

My girlfriends are having a GNI (Girls Night In) but I don't know if I want to go. :confused3 Tomorrow the DH and I are going to the wedding of my ex-boyfriend/boss. I can't wait to get my dance on. Sunday we're having lunch with Jason, Shanan and Aaron!! I'm most excited about our lunch and park play date! It will be the highlight of my weekend!! :cool1:

I think getting Stephan on the boards might be good for my marriage...

He suggested we get take out tonight so no one had to cook. A little while after he said, "I'll go get dinner in a few minutes. I guess since it was my idea..."

My reply, "You're in charge."

Good Morning Everyone: I'm waking up before my run this morning. Then we're all going up to Toronto for an overnight trip to the Luminato arts festival. This is my Father's Day present, and I'm excited. I've never been to Toronto. It's so close (only a 3 hour drive), but we've just never made it there. I can't wait.

I had this long post all typed out last night...as soon as I hit submit, the DIS went down. I think I broke the DIS last night! :scared1:

So i've been kinda MIA on the boards since we got back from the cruise...as you may have noticed. A few of you knew of our predicament and I wanted to take a minute to update everyone...

DH got a job!!!! We both lost our jobs back in March. We did the irresponsible, but MUCH needed thing and went on vacation. We sat down and figured that we would have lost more to cancel it than we would have to just go. So...in desperate need of a good time...we boarded the Wonder with you crazy people. We also were pretty confident that he would have a job offer by the time we got back to Orlando. He'd had a string of really good interviews right before we left. Well, that place didn't pan out. He was competing with someone from within the company and they chose to go that route. It sucked, but not much you can do about it...

So we came home and he hit the job boards again, applying for things that he was well qualified for as well as a few pie-in-the-sky kind of jobs. One of them (a pie-in-the-sky company) nibbled. He had a few phone interviews and then did his face to face on Thursday morning. They called Friday and offered him the job!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: He's now going to be working for one of those companies that you just never thought possible...he's VERY excited! Decent pay with awesome benefits...we're both really excited!

I still need to find a job though...unfortunately his starting salary isn't enough for me to stay home and not work...:rotfl: I've begun applying though. Just no one's called yet.

And to add to all of that frustration...DH has had some medical issues. It kind of came to a head right after we got home from the cruise. So i've been dragging him around to doctors for tests...and so far so good! He's got some family history of some things so it's not surprising, but I was REALLY worried that it was worse than what we thought. He's had a variety of tests...some not so pleasant...and i'm happy to report that my worst fears have not been realized...no tumors or anything like that...what he does have is going right along with his family history so it's not surprising, just inconvenient. I'm just glad that it's not what I feared most...

So...i'm hoping that all of this means that things are beginning to go our way again! For those of you who knew what was happening, thank you for the support...I really, really appreciate it. I have some of the best friends on the planet! :grouphug:

Oh yeah...and i'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack! :thumbsup2

The only thing that's stood out to me is people collecting husbands and wives. Is the DIS podcast cruise really just a disguise for recruiting people into a religious cult?!? Just kidding. I must say that we've never been on a cruise and truthfully it's never sounded appealing to us...until we heard about one filled with DISers! Good morning everyone. It's raining!! Though it's supposed to be done in a couple hours (we weren't leaving for a couple hours anyway). This is sleeping in for me, I woke up at 4:40 and said "this ain't happening" and went back to bed :lmao: Only could sleep another hour though.

Have a great day everyone!

Glad you could 'sleep in' one day Tracy!

Morning friends, its a dreary day here but its date night :) We are thinking Mexican, but haven't decided yet. What to eat in Kalamazoo or Grand Rapids? hmmm

I'd vote for Grand Rapids. But where did you end up going?

Good Morning everyone! Ready to start a new week?

G'morning fellow podcast cruisers. I know I don't normally chime in here, but I thought I would today.

Yesterday, I had a travel agent inspection and lunch on the Carnival Valor and after seeing how small the inside cabins are on that ship, it got me to think if I shouldn't upgrade to an outside cabin for the podcast cruise.

The price is about $300 more (I'm a single) and while that isn't a huge amount, I figure that having an inside cabin would motivate me to be outside meeting all of you instead of being in the cabin.

What do y'all think?

Cat. 11 & 12 inside cabins are 184 sq. ft. A Cat. 10 is 214 sq. ft. and has a split bath. Cat. 8 & 9 are the same size as a cat. 10, but have a window. Balcony cabins are 264 sq. ft. - but that includes the balcony. If you need natural light, get a window, but most of the extra space of the cat. 10 and up is in the split bathroom. Personally - I'd save the $300.

Carnival's rooms are much smaller than Disney's. The room sizes from category 5 through 10 are the same on Disney (not including verandah size). The basic room size, not including the closet, hall and bathroom are about the same in the category 11 and 12 as the category 5 through 10. There may be a little bit more room in the categories 5 through 10, but not much.

Both DH (he's not a small guy ;)) and I were fine in a Cat 11 on PCC 1.0 - plenty of storage and room to move around. The bathroom was a little bit of a squeeze but I was also able to do it in the dark (usually I'll bump into everything!). As you say it will encourage you to mingle :woohoo: If it was my choice save the money as it's really only a place to sleep and change.

How crazy is that?!?! You guys are anything but quiet!

So...now I am all caught up...

WELCOME

:cheer2::cheer2::welcome::welcome::welcome::cheer2 ::cheer2:

I hope you are coming, esp. as you know our celebrity ;)

Thank you for the welcome!! I had no idea Jamie was such a celebrity! :thumbsup2

And soon she shall know Famous.

And I will have to meet Famous! Are you coming to the DAP, too?

:thumbsup2

Congrats on the job!!! That sounds fantastic! Having a dream job is AWESOME! I love my dream job. There really are some of those out there and landing one seems to be part luck!

I am glad his medical stuff turned out well so far. Although I am sure the waiting was awful.

I am new here, but hopefully will get to know you as time goes on over here.

Hey everyone! Just wanted to say hi. :wave2: We are hoping to do the next DIS cruise so I thought I would jump on here and get to know some of you crazy people! I'm looking forward to getting to know more about everyone before the big event. :goodvibes

I can't answer any questions about any recruiting. I have been sworn to secrecy. I think it involved kool-aid.

UH NO! I would never let you just sit in your room anyway. ;)

I've always stayed in a window or a verandah size on Carnival. The cat 10 on Disney seemed to be about the same as the window and verandah to me on Carnival.
Do you think that is correct Tracy?

You shouldn't look at Disney's Website to pick from available rooms. They only show you 8 rooms that are available and they are based on what your party size is. Since you have two people, they will not show you rooms that will sleep 4 until all the rooms that sleep three are gone. There are many, many category 11 rooms available on deck 6. If you checked your reservation since the deposit was paid, you will see that I was able to get your first choice in rooms. If you want a midship room, you should email me and let me know that and I'll get a new room assigned. For sea sickness, you want to be either midship or lower in the ship or both.

how can you tell which rooms are already booked? :confused3 That would be cool to see...:thumbsup2

But I wonder if some are "booked" because we are holding them?

No, we are not holding staterooms, we are holding space. Room numbers can no longer be held without names and deposits paid. I have checked and know to a reasonable degree of certainty which rooms are available on this sailing and in most categories, there is a considerable amount of availability. Category 6 and 7 are the exception and I have posted a thread about this.

I just checked on the Carnival Glory and Valor and their rooms are 184 sq ft which is close to the category 11 and 12 on the Magic and Wonder. The older ships were smaller than this.

I am undecided...but was interested in Cat 7...so should I book and then cancel later? What is the penalty? And can we go straight through you and not have the computer assign us someone else? :cutie:

No clue. The non-suite rooms on the Freedom of the Seas range from 160-188 sq feet (not including balcony if applicable) and on the Monarch of the Seas they range from 119-157 sq ft. These are the two ships currently sailing out of Port Canaveral in July 2010 so I imagine it will be one of them.

I am the only agent handling this date so you will be stuck with me. That's why I know the availability, I need to. Why do you want to book now and cancel later. What am I missing? You can't book two rooms for the same people on the same date. If location isn't a huge concern and you may want a category 6 or 7, I would hold it now and switch if you need to later. When your deposit is paid, you lock into that pricing tier.

I would like to have you, Tracy! :goodvibes

I am just not positive I am going on the cruise yet at all...so I have not booked anything yet.

You would be able to cancel the reservation up until September 27, 2010 for a 100% refund. If you can make the deposit now, I would recommend reserving now.

Sorry, I don't know everyone's DISboard names yet so I assumed you had already booked.

Sounds good to me.
Stay in a smaller room and come out and play with us Mike.

Are we going to play Monopoly or Canasta?

How many rooms are there on the Wonder?

More specifically, how many in each category?

I am sure that I could count all the rooms on each deck, but I am hoping someone (Tracy?) already knows.

That is cool! I have no idea how in the world you can keep up with all of this anyway...much less with our "alias"...:lmao:

875 and you'll have to count the rest yourself. I can tell you there are 2 cat 1s, 2 cat 2s and 30 cat 7s. The rest I would have to count to be sure.

875 rooms on the Wonder. How likely is the podcast cruise going to book 300 rooms?

What would be the impact of having one third of the ship's passengers be part of the same group? Is it often that groups seem to "take over" a ship?

Charades. Penny per point.

What have you heard? You can't prove a thing. Nope. Nope. Nope.

Way too many questions for a Monday. I would say it is very likely.

Count away Tiara Todd.

I wouldn't want to be on that sailing if I weren't part of that group!

Count away Tiara Todd.

My preliminary count only adds up to 865. So the exact count may vary slightly, but:

Cat. 1-2
Cat. 2-2
Cat. 3-18
Cat. 4-80
Cat. 5-118
Cat. 6-138
Cat. 7-30
Cat. 8-44
Cat. 9-177
Cat. 10-96
Cat. 11-147
Cat. 12-13

I think this would be a little different...

If the ship was 1/3 full of cheerleaders...or some activist group...or some specific religious group...or even a bunch of engineers or doctors...whatever...then that would be a little odd for the 2/3 left over...

but this is a group of different types of people...some families, some single, some married w/o kids, old, young and of all different backgrounds from different parts of the US and world. They will probably notice the shirts and wonder why 1/3 of the ship all seems to know each other, even though they all have different accents...but it shouldn't be disruptive to their vacation. :confused3 I wouldn't think.
