Hey all! here is our new home.
DDA originally stood for Disney Design Addicts as most of the posters were addicted to making t-shirt designs. Those designers are still here and many many more people have joined our friendly community. We think that DDA still fits whether you be a Disney Design Addict, Dear Disney Addict, Disney Dream-aholics, Disney Dream Addicts or whatever other acronyms you'd like to throw in there.
Welcome to all the returning posters and welcome to any newcomers that might like to chat about design and all things Disney.
Copied from Deb because she worded it so well.

The wind is picking up and it is very overcast around here. Thankfully we've managed to dry out all the lacrosse equipment and chairs etc and those are repacked for our 4 days of games this week. I need to put a few more things downstairs before I head off to work.

Josh came over for just a smidge last night...in that time I found out that the damage his parents did to their house last weekend was enough to send them to a hotel (which there aren't any really locally) and he doesn't have proper pants for graduation....:headache: this kid just doesn't seem to be able to catch a break.

DS saw it last weekend with Uncle1 and they both liked it. Some of the references were too obscure for DS, but Uncle1 gave it rave reviews. :)
I have been pulling out "too small" clothes from DS's closet all day. And washing new clothes and putting them in the closet. Poor closet is seeing a lot of action! :rotfl2: I also mixed around the shirts he wears on weekends so he will grab some he hasn't worn lately. Always good to rotate the stock.
I have sectioned off his shirts for WDW. Haven't done the shorts yet because he can wear those up until I start packing. We found another pair of the little plaid shorts at Old Navy today (he was with me), then we exchanged the swim trunks and bought another pair of shorts at Gap. I think he is in good shape. We have been buying shirts for DH, too, so hopefully they are BOTH almost set!

Good evening all. We are home at last. Ended up going to a folk festival with just about everyone. It was neat as the historic homes at the park were open during the festival. It was chilly though and I was wishing we'd brought jackets. We just now got home from dinner to celebrate Mother's Day, my birthday and Kristi's graduation. The pub we went to had amazingly good burgers, though Kristi's was even better than mine. Mine was a little overcooked and Kristi's was almost perfect, but I did have to admit that had I had her burger my stomach would not have been happy as I know that's a trigger.
Tomorrow I can (hopefully) sleep in a little and then it's time for graduation. After that, we're BBQing and just hanging out, followed by a sleepover, the zoo on Monday and who knows what else. For now though, I am beat. It is bedtime, I think. Or at least it will be after a little more cake. ;) Night all!

Good Morning,
Today is my last day off before we leave Friday afternoon, so if you see me on here too much send me on my way.
There's house cleaning, laundry, and packing to do. I also need to make another shopping list. I really want to get a hair cut and color, and the grandchildren are coming over this afternoon, days off are way too short.

Phil said that it was the best movie he ever hated. He is a total devotee of the original episodes. He likes the original movies too. However, he's avoided all of the Next Generations, etc. He thought that the movie was a great movie, and a really good action flick, but that it wasn't Star Trek. Or not his Star Trek anyway. The exact why's, I couldn't tell you, but I do know he was bothered even before he went by one of the main characters being in the Academy in this movie and it not fitting with the original. Definitely a purist speaking, I'll admit. (Now I haven't seen it so I have no opinion either way.)
ETA: All that said, he's the first person I've heard say they didn't like it. But then, I didn't think he would. Star Trek was like a religion to him when it first aired so anything coming close to that after 20 years of growing up, etc isn't going to happen, I don't think.

Good morning DDA!!!
Where, oh, where is Mr. Sun. I am so tired of these gray and dreary days.
Eric went camping and canoeing this weekend. I have no clue when he'll be home today. They are somewhere in Virginia.
The girls spent the night various places Friday night. I spent Friday evening reading and then the morning cleaning Mo & Lu's room. I got 2 of them back yesterday and Em back this morning. My cousin came over last night and hung out and chatted.
The girls and I are headed out to run a few errands. I need a new pair of cross trainers and we need coffee and dish washer soap. Not too exciting but at least we'll be out of the house for a bit.
Enjoy your Sunday, everyone!!!

YOUR MORNING FUNNY
HOW MEN AND WOMEN SHOWER DIFFERENTLY . . .
How To Shower Like a Woman
Take off clothing and place it in sectioned laundry hamper according to lights and darks. Walk to bathroom wearing long dressing gown. If you see husband along the way, cover up any exposed areas. Look at your womanly physique in the mirror - make mental note to do more sit-ups/leg-lifts, etc. Get in the shower. Use face cloth, arm cloth, leg cloth, long loofah, wide loofah and pumice stone. Wash your hair once with cucumber and sage shampoo with 43 added vitamins. Wash your hair again to make sure it's clean. Condition your hair with grapefruit mint conditioner. Wash your face with crushed apricot facial scrub for 10 minutes until red. Wash entire rest of body with ginger nut and jaffa cake body wash. Rinse conditioner off hair. Shave armpits and legs. Turn off shower. Squeegee off all wet surfaces in shower. Spray mold spots with Tilex. Get out of shower. Dry with towel the size of a small country. Wrap hair in super absorbent towel. Return to bedroom wearing long dressing gown and towel on head. If you see husband along the way, cover up any exposed areas.
How To Shower Like a Man
Take off clothes while sitting on the edge of the bed and leave them in a pile. Walk naked to the bathroom. If you see wife along the way, shake wiener at her making the 'woo-woo' sound. Look at your manly physique in the mirror. Admire the size of your wiener and scratch your butt. Get in the shower. Wash your face. Wash your armpits. Blow your nose in your hands and let the water rinse them off. Fart and laugh at how loud it sounds in the shower. Spend majority of time washing privates and surrounding area. Wash your butt, leaving those coarse butt hairs stuck on the soap. Wash your hair. Make a Shampoo Mohawk. Pee. Rinse off and get out of shower. Partially dry off. Fail to notice water on floor because curtain was hanging out of tub the whole time. Admire wiener size in mirror again. Leave shower curtain open, wet mat on floor, light and fan on. Return to bedroom with towel around waist. If you pass wife, pull off towel, shake wiener at her and make the 'woo-woo' sound again. Throw wet towel on bed.

Sooo...
I am nearing completion of the laundry. DS has 32 pairs of shorts. :rolleyes1 There are 4 more pairs in a Nordstrom bag that I think I will take back to Nordstrom. They were expensive, and it now appears that we do not NEED 4 more pairs of shorts. They will be on clearance by the end of July so I can buy them then if I think he needs them.
I also ran across a shirt I bought at Ross for myself that I think I will return. And I have a shirt from DS that needs to go back to Marshall's because it was too small. Good thing Ross and Marshall's are next door to each other.
Speaking of Marshall's, we found some "Life Is Good" T-shirts for DH. One was marked down to $5! The others were $10 and $13. Very nice quality, great for WDW. :)

Kristin has watched only a few of the TV episodes before and still loved the movie. This is a prequel to everything, including the original TV stuff, so you would not have had to see anything at all to enjoy it.
Some of the things on the TV series came up (as precursors to the TV stuff since this all takes place before the time of the series) but you would not have to know what they were talking about to appreciate the humor or poignancy of it all.
Elizabeth - I am assuming the references to things that were on the TV series are what C "missed" but really didn't miss out on.

Good! Because we are going to see it this afternoon. :goodvibes
I have a family who gives me Premiere Movie Packs for Christmas and End of the Year gifts and I hardly ever go to the movies (last one was the latest Indiana Jones flick and I went by myself and the one before that was HP). Anyway, my actor-daughter who hates movies really wanted to see Star Trek and Angels and Demons so I am striking while the iron is hot. We will go see HP and The Time Traveler's Wife this summer too. Then I think I will be out of tickets and we will have to pay for anything else we see. :rotfl:

We don't do DDP because it doesn't come out as a good value for us. We don't eat anything in the room, except snacks. Once in awhile we will get something at the CS place at AKL and carry it back for lunch. Or sometimes we'll have our TS leftovers. That's about it.
We have never ordered groceries before, so I am no help with that.

We've added DDP in the past, and are going to try it without it this time around, we've purchased the TIW card. We've also ordered from Garden Grocer, as I would go in to Dr. Pepper withdrawal. We've used them twice and had great service both times, I also added a few toiletry items to the order so that I wouldn't have to pack them when we flew.
This trip we'll be doing a few meals in the room, we only have studio so it will be sandwiches and microwave stuff, we'll make a grocery run after we arrive. With the projected crowds our plans are to utilize the resort more than we normally would, I hope to do live updates on my trip report so you can see how we do if you want to read along.
Just to let everyone know, the dryer doesn't work if yo don't turn it on , :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I hope that's my last dumb*** move for today anyway!

We do Tables in Wonderland rather than the DDP. The DDP is just too much food. We also go for such a long period of time that we absolutely do some meals in the villa. I'm not big on eating out, so the tought of eating every meal out for 3 weeks is just too much for me.
Tammi the shower thing is funny. While the woman version is not even close to me, Chris said the Male version is pretty close to true :scared:

We do the DDP, because my kids are still "kids" and I can't beat the $10 a day for them. Once Nicholas turns 10, which will be Dec., we will use the TIW because it won't be worth $40 for him. Although he is a hefty eater, so I'll reevaluate that when the time comes.
The only thing we eat in the room is breakfast. Well, I should say "they" eat. I can't eat right away, just coffee for me. I buy milk, juice and cereal at the store in the resort. It's easier than ordering from a store for those three things that we need. With the DDP we are never hungry enough to need additional snacks/food/drinks in the room. We also throw some granola bars/poptarts/etc. in the suitcase on our way down.

The pool is opened, now we just have to wait for the chemicals to kick in and the water to clear up. The kids are already dying to go in, but it is so cold around here. Colby, Nick and I went shopping this afternoon while Hunter and Chris worked on wood. I managed to put together outfits for the boy's concerts and Nick's usher functions. He went with a couple of black shirts to go with his gray pants. He also found a black and white pinstripe hat and ordered shoes to match. He's calling it is mafia look. Colby's outfit is similar as he wants to be like his big brother.
We also picked up groceries while we were out. Now Nick is mowing the lawn. I really need to get out my sewing machine to shorten Colby's pants as I won't have time other than tonight.

Well today wasn't as relaxing as I thought it was going to be. It was productive though. After church I went to the mall. I had to return a couple things that didn't fit the kids. I FINALLY found a pair of brown sandals (with a backstrap (stupid school rule)) for Alyssa that 1. actually fit and 2. she likes. I have been searching for over a month. I also got myself 5 new tops and 3 pair of shorts. $150 later, but all is good because I RARELY buy anything for myself, mainly because I can't find anything that fits right or that I like. I've started to shop in the juniors section and seem to be having better luck. Misses clothes seem too frumpy for me.

We stayed overnight with Chuck's mom Friday night. I put a filing system together for her. It was totally disorganized. We were supposed to come home after dinner last night. Instead we took her to the emergency room at dinner time. She couldn't put any weight on her left foot. She was diagnosed with cellulitis (infection of the tissue or something like that) and gout in her foot. She is totally bruised on her ENTIRE right side from the catheter when she had her pacemaker installed. I mean ENTIRE. I sure hope that she turns a corner soon. We came home this morning. We got here a little after noon. I'm going to get up at 4am and head to Lansing. I'll be there by noon.

Well, this weekend was strange and sad.
The one lady that I work with is just the sweetest person you would ever want to meet. She has worked here for over twenty years. She has seen a lot of changes in the child care system. She and I work well together. We can pick each other's brains and sometimes come up with the same idea at the same time. It is a pleasure to know she is there. Our office is very small but we get along just great and have it fixed up the way we like except for the walls. Just cannot do anything with grey bricks.
She gave birth to three sons. A set of twins. The one twin passed away eight years ago from an Asthma attack. Stephanie said she did not come to work for over two weeks. Would not answer her phone, did not get out of bed, she literally shut herself down. The other twin has diabetes and last year had a kidney transplant. He also needed a pancreas transplant. Unfortunately this weekend, he lost the fight. He apparently passed out and when they found him, they tried to revive him, got him in the ambulance, but he died and they did bring him back. At the hospital, they took him into surgery and determined he did not have a heart attack, but he was brain dead. Because of all of the surgeries and testing he needed, he was living here while having all of the surgery, but his wife and kids are in Florida. He had just gotten back from visiting his family in Florida. His wife managed to get up here yesterday morning and not much later he did finally lose the fight. Stephanie and another co-worker were there Friday night and yesterday before he passed on. I cannot imagine the sadness for all this week because all of us love A***** and knew her son and were all cheering for his success.
Friday night Hal and I went to a local baseball game. Quad A or triple AAA something like that. Lancaster Barnstormers. Stephanie came about an hour into the game and filled me in on what was happening. The game ended up with our team winning and then we saw some fireworks. Yeah--five minutes worth but it was a small fix. :lmao:
I figured I would go the hospital Saturday, but after sitting in those hard stadium seats, I could not move much yesterday. So, I thought I would go to visit A today but my youngest son came over and I thought, I needed to see him, talk with him, get lots of hugs and I managed to feed him supper!!!!
Yes Stephanie,,, don't fall off of your chair. We sat at the dining room table and had supper together.
So our mission this week is to make sure we visit A and her family and make sure she eats and gets out of bed. This will be a very hard next two or three weeks. :sad2:

I am still following that thread about online ADRs on the dining board:
I just called Disney Dining and asked if there was any official word on reservations online and was told by the CM that it wasofficially opening tomorrow for the general public AND that it would open at 6am--not the 7am time when they open on the phone. He was very open with the information and sounded very knowledgable on the topic. So good luck to all--I will see you with the feedback in the morning! (MY day 90 is tomorrow)
Also, I had previously read that certain dining experiences would still need to be made via phone (HDDR, etc) but he told me when it goes live, that the only thing I wont be able to book is V&A. Good luck everyone! Heres to free dining!

Bernadette - I'm glad you enjoyed the Kim Possible adventure. We saw an Disney Channel thing about it the other day and Terra is hoping it will still be there in Feb.
I would think it would still be there-it must have been expensive to set it all up.
Bernadette you captured some lovely photos! My favorite are the castle shots during fireworks, beautiful. Thank you for sharing! Thanks! I thought those were pretty cool-I never would thought of it on my own but it was the only place I could find for Joe to sit.
Bernadette Jo looks so cute in all the outfits you made him. I really liked your photos. The fireworks with Walt and Mickey are so creative. Kudos to you. I also liked the one from One Man's Dream of Joe, Walt in a doorway and the shadow of Mickey. Thanks! Joe says One Man's Dream is his #2 attraction in all of WDW only behind Carousel of Progress. I had to back the next day and take photos of him in his Mickey shirt too.
yes I also want to know what you thought of it.I know I already posted but just to restate.....the kids really enjoy it and I think the adults are surprised enough by the technology to enjoy it too. Joe only wanted to do 2 countries on our 2nd day at Epcot-I could have done more.
We ate at Beaches and Cream and of course Bill had to have his "No Way Jose.

the party was deemed and success and I had no idea 4 girls could eat that much bacon:lmao:
it was supposed to be overcast today....it's beautiful...but I still see a nap in my future:rotfl:
Josh came over for just a smidge last night...in that time I found out that the damage his parents did to their house last weekend was enough to send them to a hotel (which there aren't any really locally) and he doesn't have proper pants for graduation....:headache: this kid just doesn't seem to be able to catch a break.Glad the girls had a great time.
Poor Josh. Sounds like he'll be better off on his own.:sad2:
Bernadette,,your pictures were really fantastic.Thanks!
I'm home from work. It kind of sucked, lot of Canadians and they did not tip well at all :sad2: oh well.:confused3I always tip well in Canada?????
32 pairs????? I thought I had gone overboard with 8 pairs for Joe.
I fear that our kitty may have a brain tumor. He is still having difficulty standing, one eye is watering and he has totally lost his hearing. Today I noticed that one side of his face is very swollen. On the bright side he has started eating better :confused3 I'll call the vet tomorrow to run everything by her.
Poor kitty!
Congrats on shopping success!
I'll be there by noon.Sorry to hear she's still having problems. :wizard:

So I survived camp this weekend. I am exhausted but know right now I could not sleep. I gotta work on getting to the sleeping point.
It ended up raining for a period of time Saturday during activities. Then it poured overnight. Then got down to the 30's overnight. I ended up staying both nights. As one of the leader's ended up with a sick daughter.
I just have to survive Relay for life which is June 12-13th and then my life might slow down a bit.
Somebody asked about Kim Possible at EPCOT. I did it during my trip. It was neat and had you explore areas of the parks you might not look so closely at normally.
I need to clean out my car there are so many random things in my trunk, I have no idea what is hiding.

Sounds like a productive day!!

We then went shopping to find Josh pants.....I know why the boy hates getting new clothes...he has an extremely hard to find size 33x34. Well, we had a good, but long and tiring day. Graduation was fine, though the speaker spoke way too slowly and wasn't the best speaker to begin with. After that, we grilled at Kristi's house and it was so yummy! BBQ chicken, pork steak, squash, zucchini and corn all on the grill, plus some watermelon. Delish. We were going to get ice cream as well, but Kristi's friends had been up since some ungodly hour as they flew in from Austin this morning. So, we'll go tomorrow after the zoo.
Tomorrow is looking to be quite interesting as we've got Terra's last dance class in the morning, then the zoo, then our last Girl Scout meeting, then Kassie's dance class. I was hoping to get part of my work shop done tomorrow as well, but I think it's just going to have to wait until Tuesday night. I'm not sure I'll make it to try tomorrow as I'm already dead tired.
For now I've got to get these sleepovering cousins off to bed. Good night all.

We had the last recital of the spring season today:cool1:...poor Abi gives me the giggles...she gets nervous and fidgets even while playing.
We then went shopping to find Josh pants.....I know why the boy hates getting new clothes...he has an extremely hard to find size 33x34. We got him a new shirt and found pants at ARC that I will have him try on tomorrow...can't have the boy go nakie to graduation. :rotfl: I am not sure what his "parents" did to the house to flood one/two floors but they flooded it....I am trying to make sure he doesn't have extra to worry about (he needs to get his car working or he won't be able to keep his job once he moves in with his sister).
We then had fatburger and came home....why is it something you think won't take long takes forever??:confused3
Chanon-welcome home and your pictures are so cool!!
It's nice that you are able to help Josh through these tough times. Chris was much like Josh at that age and it is exactly this time in a young man's life where so many things could happen to paint his future. It's nice that he found you guys to help him find a good path

Now that is just weird. This is the second day that the boards have been all wonky for me?
Riley is not doing well this morning. He is clearly less stable on his feet and his meow sounds a bit airy at the end, maybe fluid in his lungs? His little tongue is hanging out too. I'm very sad this morning as I fear that when and if I take him to the vet today it could be his last trip :sad1: He ate all of his food last night and asked for more this morning, then he snuggled by my feet so that I could pet him. Now he is laying on his favorite blanket purring away

Good Morning DDA!
Chanon, great pics of Disneyland! We really need to get there someday!
Deb, poor Riley!
I know some of you know this already, if you are on FaceBook. Leighanna's stray cat "fluffy" that she found after we returned from WDW in Feb. gave birth to EIGHT kittens the day before Mother's day. All eight are growing, and their eyes are starting to open. Now, I have to find homes for all these kitties! I know we will NOT have 11 cats in this house! :scared1:
Time to get Leighanna up and ready for school. Three more weeks and I won't have to do this anymore! And more free time to do some fun stuff during the week!
Have a great day!

Elin - did you enjoy the movie?
I enjoyed it very much. Kristin found it to be "boring" and felt it did not live up to the book. A little history: She liked the book MUCH better than DaVinci Code although Kristin she thinks Brown is a better dreamer than writer. She wishes he would come up with the stories and let someone else write them. :rotfl:
Kristin's comment was that a book allows time for the thinking and planning required for the characters in a storyline such as this and the movie dragged when this was going on. I have not yet read the book but plan to do so in the next week or so. I want to see what she means.
I think this is kind of like Tia's comments from Phil regarding "Star Trek" yesterday. Some of the things that bothered him about the movie did not disturb me at all and Kristin was able to see the movie without having to know what had gone on in the TV series to enjoy the latest film. This is why movies, plays, art, music and books and other forms of entertainment are a tenuous way for "artists" to make a living and why there are critics making lots of money! :rotfl2:

Saturday afternoon about 4:00 I finally received the list of awards for the convention this week. I spent about an hour and a half before we left for Star Trek working on the database and then got up yesterday morning early to load the printer with the certificates and start the printing process. They are all done. Unfortunately I know there are more out there. Last year I printed 189; this year there were only 105. Someone did not send in their annual report to the president on time and I know they are going to come asking for certificates at the last minute.
Don't worry (was it Bernadette or Beth?!?!?) I am NOT taking my printer to Lynchburg with me!
I also got all my lesson plans done for the week. One of my co-workers is being an angel and covering 7 of the 9 classes I will miss on Wednesday and Thursday. But we are getting ready for recitals so the plans have to be very specific and it was time-consuming. But it is done!

I agree that books delve into the emotions/thoughts/lives of the characters much better than movies do. You get their introspect, so to speak, in a book whereas a movie has to gloss over it all. That's a main reason why the movies never live up to the books.

Chris and I just took Riley to the Vet. She agrees with me in that we believe he has a brain tumor. She thinks it may have started as a nasal tumor and has now grown. There is no good way to confirm this without discomfort for Riley and a huge bill for us. We discussed our options which boiled down to giving him a long lasting antibiotic and a long acting steriod shot or having him put down. We just aren't ready to say good bye yet so he got the shots. We should know by tomorrow if it is helping at all and within a week we'll see how much it actually helps. She said it could buy him a couple of weeks to six months or more. Since he isn't in any obvious pain we are hoping this will help immensely :wizard: If it doesn't work then we know that we have no other recourse than to say goodbye :sad1: For now he is resting comfortable between my feet. He doesn't seem to want to let me out of sight today which is very unusual.

We had bacon on Saturday, too. I make it about twice a year, so I'm done for the year now.

WOW! I love to read all your trip preparations, though. I hope next year, I'm making my own.

:rotfl:
I loved The Time Traveler's Wife until a certain point about 2/3 or 3/4 of the way through. I'm sure you know where I mean. Then I had to struggle to finish. It was just too sad for me. I am looking forward to the HP movie. Miles and Laura want to see Night at the Museum II and UP, so I will probably be seeing those. Matthew wants to see Star Trek, but he'll probably go with friends. Dh will want to wait for it on DVD, because he hates spending money on going to the movies (or just about anything ;)).

I think it was me... I am glad that you were able to finish. Stand strong on not scrambling at the last minute for someone else's procrastination.

I agree with Kristin, Elin.....Brown has great stories he just can't really write:lmao:. (I did like Digital Fortress...maybe it's the religion angle that he can't handle).
I think that must be it. I've tried several times now to read Da Vinci Code, and I just can't make my way through it. I haven't even attempted any others. I think I'm the only one that doesn't love it. Maybe I'll try again.

I went to the post office (Tammi & Robyn - watch your mail), returned a shirt to Marshall's, dropped off DS's outgrown uniforms at the elementary, loaded all the service project donations into the car. Now I am off to the bank, Nordstrom, Sam's, and the Dr's office.

I'm all caught up with you (on this chapter anyway)!
It was a busy weekend, but it all went very well. I worked the meet all afternoon/night Friday and then again all day yesterday. Friday night I put together Miles' birthday sign. I've always made a little sign for them to see as soon as they wake up on their birthdays. This year, I thought I'd float it with two helium balloons. Unfortunately, it was too heavy and didn't float. He loved it anyway. Laura had practice until a little after noon, and then we went to our (very small) local zoo for Miles' birthday. It was "Endangered Species" day which meant that they had a few stations set up where volunteers gave the kids information, had them play a little game, and then stamped a "passport." Miles thought it was fun. He and Laura had their faces painted at the wolf station, too. After the zoo trip, we came home and ordered pizza (his choice for the birthday meal). Dh went out to get it, and it started pouring rain so hard we couldn't see across the street. That also meant water in the basement. We ate and cleaned up the water in the basement before starting the traditional birthday present treasure hunt. His cake was (once again) chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and chocolate covered strawberries. I think he has requested that cake for the last 5 years now. :rotfl:
This morning I had to run out to the DMV to renew my driver's license. I could have renewed it online or by mail, but I wanted to get the NYS enhanced license. That had to be done at the DMV. It is good for land border crossings into Canada. I don't have a passport, so I thought it was a good idea to spend a little extra for this license. Matthew can get an enhanced license, but I don't know if minors will still need a passport. So, it may not really do me any good unless I want to leave the kids behind.
This will be a busy week as it is the last week of preschool.

Deb,,,,I am so sorry about Riley. It hurts so much especially when they are really purring so.

Both of the boys teams lost their games tonight. Hunter stepped up to the plate and played goalie for his team. He was hesitant, but since they don't have anyone that wants to play goalie they are all being asked to take turns. As it turned out he was very good at it. He ended up playing the entire game and so many of the coaches (from his team and other teams) told him that he was a natural, he thinks he might play goalie some more. We are very proud of him for stepping outside of his comfort zone and trying something new.
After the game Chris got a call from his mother. His great neice was airlifted to a burn center in Boston. Apparently the babysitter just got a new furnace or hot water heater and the temperature was not properly set. They baby sitter must have tried to spray her off in the sink :confused3 and she has second degree burns on her head/face/upper body. This is one of the infant twins that his neice had 5 or so months ago.
This has been one stressful day in our household.

:scared1:

Cassidy was so proud, she bought him dressy shorts with her own money.

Thank you!
Even the older girls? That IS odd. Alyssa will be in 2 dances, one tap and one ballet. Since she's been in ballet for several years and we already have those pictures, she decided that I should buy the ones of her in her tap costume. I refused to buy both packages, at $27 a pop. I can't photo/videograph her recitals, but I can do both at the dress rehearsals. That's another thing that her studio gets you for. They will "professionally" record the recital, and then sell you the DVD of the ENTIRE show for $35. Sorry, but this mom isn't shelling out MORE money to see my daughter dance twice for about 180 seconds each dance. I'm sure Alyssa will be scarred for life.

I agree with you on the gouging of parents for photos and DVDs when we all know what it really costs to make them. I take the photos of all our major recitals and every child is given one copy and parents are given the opportunity to purchase additional photos at the going rate at Wal-mart (like $1.50 per print) and the video is only $5.00. Our families are also encouraged to bring their own video cameras to capture their budding pianists. The only thing that they cannot do is take flash photography.

Even the older girls. AND they don't wear costumes to the dress rehearsal, so if you took pics/videos it wouldn't be as cute as the recital. They do sell DVDs but my bosses didn't buy one because Princess was in ONE dance!
Elizabeth tell DH congrats on a more stable run, hope he likes it.
Thank you! :)
Beth - Congrats to Laura & her team! All I know about Universal hotels is that I booked a room in Feb. and they STILL have not charged me for it! :scared: We just booked one night at Royal Pacific because it was least expensive. :confused3
Princess has swimming this morning, and I need to book a haircut for her. DS has a band concert tonight at the high school. :)

Good morning, DDA -
Deb - I'm sorry that Reilly isn't showing much improvement this morning. I hope that he continues to be without pain. :wizard: that everyone has a chance to adjust before it's time to say goodbye. Lots of prayers for your niece as well. I hope she's doing okay.
Tammi - Beautiful picture!!! Our girls wear light makeup for the recital, but not alot. With all of the lights, I can't imagine my pale child in all those lights. We've got the same thing on DVDs here only I think they're $40. Yeah, I think we'll just video tape at the rehersal. ;)
Beth - Congrats to Laura's team! I'm glad you made it through the weekend well. Miles' birthday sounds like it was nice.
Elizabeth - I'm pretty impressed with your morning yesterday. I rarely manage more than 3 errands in a day without losing it. Congrats to DH on the new route. I hope it works out to be a good move for him. Sorry about DS' retainer. What a pain to have to get there twice on top of everything else.
Becky - Good luck with the race. Sounds like a lot of work to add to your already busy schedule. Prayers for your cousin and her family. :wizard:
Bernadette - Prayers for your friend as well. I hope you can get a chance to go see her.
Elin - Have a good time at your conference this week. Sounds like it will be a busy week.
Tom - Good luck finding homes for the kittens. I feel you on the wishing for school to be out. We've got a week and a half left and I can't wait. Even without Terra in school it gets crazy in the last few weeks, plus everything for Rachel, Kassie, Connor....

Well, yesterday ended up as crazy as imagined, but it was a lot of fun! Terra had fun at her last dance class. They did a couple of last recital run throughs and then figured out their ending bows and class picture pose. Granny, my dad and my aunt all got to watch her since it was observation day (they open the curtains on the last class of each month). From there, we went to grab strollers from two locations, through the drive thru for lunch and off to the zoo.
It was a beautiful day for the zoo and we got to see a lot even though Terra and I only have about two hours. Towards the end, we ran into a friend who works at the zoo. He gave us his employee pass to take the kids on the train, children's zoo, etc for free. Luckily, we had just enough time for the train before Terra and I had to leave as that's the one thing Terra always wishes we could do.
We headed straight from there to our last Daisy meeting, which was fun and not as stressful as I feared. My co-leader is a little OCD about having specific plans, far in advance, and one thing planned wasn't going to happen after all and the rest of my plans for the meeting were very flexible/fluid since it was our last meeting and I wanted the girls to decide what we did for most parts. Finally left there, delivered the baby to her dad, picked up Phil and ended with picking up some chicken for a very easy dinner. Whew!
That whole comp shopping, yeah, wasn't happening after that full day. ;) So so we've got to get Granny and Pam to the airport today, hopefully have an easy baby day and then get the shopping done tonight. And sometime, I'll finally make it over to Kristi's to watch last week's Biggest Loser finale on her DVR. By then I may need to make it the Dancing with the Stars finale too since I'm not sure I'll see that either.
Happily, I think I've got a day or two off coming up soon so I'm looking forward to that. Of course, that just means Terra will fill the day with her stuff. ;) Gotta love it, though! :goodvibes:

So the schedule for the dance place where Princess goes is on the desk. It appears that the latest any classes for her age start is 12:15! :scared1: If she isn't out of school until 11:45 there is NO WAY I can make it to dance, change her clothes, and get her into the classroom in 30 minutes. The school and the dance place are nowhere near each other, and the area around the dance place gets VERY traffic-y at lunch time. And speaking of lunch, I don't think she eats at school! If that is the case I am going to REFUSE to agree to a 12:15 dance class. There is NO WAY, and I do mean NOOOO WAY, that will work if she has not eaten. I e-mailed Momboss about it, so we'll see what she thinks.

You should look into the Nikon P90-it is a high end point & shoot like your old Sony. I think it was a 20x zoom. I don't know too much about it but I hear it has some same components as my D90.

The problem with the camera is the more I look, the more I can not make up my mind. One day I am sure I want a DSLR, and then chicken out and start looking at bridge cameras again and back and forth. As my brother said just jump and get the DSLR, stop being scared about it. You already probably have 2 lens to use that Dad is not using.
There is also the D5000 that just came out that is a slightly stripped down DSLR version of the D90. But I can find the D90 for just a touch more money. So I still keep going back to I should just get the D90. But never seem to jump to get it.
In either case, I have to get another external hard drive to hold that pics that are more then twice the file size as of my previous camera. So I have also been looking at terrabyte hard drives.
As for Joe being scared of getting stuck on rides, he does not want to talk to me. I have been stuck on a lot of rides. ;)

OK...just buy the D90-you will NOT regret it!!! The D5000 doesn't focus. You would likely want to upgrade it so just get the D90 and be done with it!
SO...if you ever meet Joe don't talk about getting stuck on rides. Have you ever had to walk off any? He seemed more relaxed about it when he saw the emergency exits but it saddened me that he spent a lot of time worrying about that rather than enjoying himself.

That is the same thing I keep thinking about a Bridge camera or the other D models. I know it is what I want, I just have to pull the trigger so to speak. What lens(es) do you have?
I have never had to walk off anything at WDW at least that I remember, although I may have. I have walked off roller coasters and other rides at other parks.
Also right after IOA opened I got stuck on like everything. I think the only 2 things we did not get stuck at some point was Dr. Doom's freefall and the Hulk roller coaster. Let's just say they were not ready to be open. We walked off cat in the hat and Jurassic park in our 1 day there. But that has improved immensely.

I loved The Time Traveler's Wife until a certain point about 2/3 or 3/4 of the way through. I'm sure you know where I mean. Then I had to struggle to finish. It was just too sad for me. You don't want another bridge camera, you want the dSLR. I was told that by a lot of people before I bought mine, but I just couldn't spend the extra money. If I had to do it again, I probably would have waited until I could afford the dSLR. (Of course, that may be never, so it's good that I have what I have.)
If I ever get a job with more hours (= more money), that will be one of my first purchases.
