Good morning, losers!
Welcome to the first day of the Between the BLs Challenge Summer 2009.
I will be your coach this week. Please be sure and PM your starting weight to our weightkeeper, LuvBaloo today. Our first weigh in will be Friday, 5/22.
Like in previous challenges, we will have a QOTD (question of the day). This is a fun way to keep the dialogue going and get to know each other. Not all QOTD will have something to do with weightloss or getting healthy -- lots of times they are about the happiest place on earth, KWIM?
Today's QOTD is a two part question. Tell us a little about yourself and your goals for this challenge.
I am 48 and married for 15 years. We have a DS who is 9, soon to be 10. :scared1: DH and I are self-employed as attorneys so we work hard but have a lot of flexibility in our schedules. It makes our stressful jobs much better.
I've struggled with my weight most of my life, especially since I've been married. My big goal is to lose 100 pounds. I am afraid this may be my last chance to get myself back after letting myself go for so long. My goal for this challenge is to lose 25 pounds. That is a big goal but I can do it if I work very, very hard. I gained enough between this challenge and the last -- where did that come from?!? -- that I had to remove my WISH 10 pound ribbon. So my mini goal is to get that back!
Kathy and Tammy, sounds like you are both raring to go. What is PFP?
Have a great day everyone!

Morning loosers!
QOTD: Well, I hit 60 this year and it's getting more and more difficult to lose weight, so I MUST get the job done now. I've been overweight most of my adult life (was a skinny, active kid....pre puberty!), and I know what it takes to get the weight loss job done...I just need to DO IT! I need to lose 100 pounds. I have a goal of a 25 pound loss by Labor Day and my WDW trip and DCL cruise, and it would be great to achieve that by the end of this challenge, but 20 for this challenge will make me happy (see...I've already forgotten the end date here....).
I'm following Weight Watchers on-line, as WW has always been good to me in the past, I just need to keep my commitment to IT.
Off to PM Shannon!

Good morning everyone! Looking forward to this challenge. This is going to take me right up to our vacation!
Same here - I leave the evening of 8/6, so I won't be able to finish - expect I can probably blackberry from Disney :)
I lost 1lb this week - I'm ready to start this "Between" challenge. I'm psyched and ready to go!

Good morning! I'm so happy I found this challenge!
My name is Lynda, and I am 36 years old. Happily married for 15 years and the mom of two kids. My dd Lauren is 13 and my ds Cory is 12. I work full time at a moderately stressful job at a public university. We live in Texas.
I've been overweight since I had my kids, you can only blame the baby weight so long! I have had some ups and downs over the years, mostly ups. I lost about 40 pounds on Jenny Craig years ago, and after the weight crept back (plus some) I lost about 40 pounds again eating low cal/low fat and working out. Unfortunately, that crept back plus more. NOW, I am more determine than ever. I have about 80 pounds total to lose, and have lost 16 so far. But, since this is a summer challenge, my I'll set my goal for this at 30 pounds. BTW, I am now doing a low-carb diet and I LOVE IT. And, I work out everyday.
We are going to WDW June 20-27, then to my parents in Ohio for a week, so I realize that will be a challenge for me as I have a much harder time dieting when good food is staring me in the face!
Sorry to be so long, I'm really excited to be a part of this!

Today's QOTD is a two part question. Tell us a little about yourself and your goals for this challenge.
have a great day everyone!
I am 30 years old, married for 7 years and have 2 children ages 4 and 10mo. I work in a sedentary job and have been heavy all my life. I lost 100 lbs about 6 years ago on WW but put it back on with my 2 pregnancies and haven't been able to get it off since. I wear a uniform to work and the largest pants they offer are getting too small :scared1: so I knew it was time to do something. I joined WW a couple days ago and am looking forward to working on this. My family is going to DL in September with my Sister in law and her family and I am worried about fitting in the plane seat for the ride down. My goal for this challenge is 25 lbs. I would love to be down that in 8 weeks so I can hit a personal goal by my 31st birthday but am not going to do anything crazy to get there. I am going to follow the program and let the pounds fall where they may!

Today's QOTD is a two part question. Tell us a little about yourself and your goals for this challenge.
Hi everyone
Goals for this challenge: To lose 10lbs per month or close to that to be in the 140's by my vacation (leaving on 8/6). Also to fit back into all my shorts that I have so that I don't need to buy more. As of today I'm 166.2
About me: I'll be 40 this July, and I'd really like to lose this weight once and for all. I was super skinny growing up till about 16. I wasn't fat then by any means, but I think that was the start of feeling like I was. I'm short - so any extra really makes me look bigger. I also am very big chested, so unfortunately this makes me look bigger also. I have two kids DS11 & DD17 and have been married for almost 22 years. I got to my WW goal weight in 2003 when DH went to the war in Iraq. That was 131 as my lowest. I was wearing size 4 pants, and still needed to lose about another 5-8 pounds to be doing really good since I'm so short. Well I only was at 131 for about a day. I gained a little and managed to stay in the 130's and 140's for a year or so and then got almost to 160 before I did the WISH Disney 1/2 Marathon in 2005 as well as another 1/2 marathon in Ocean City MD the same year. I got back down in the 140's and felt good through 2007 my last Disney family trip. That winter I gained into the 150's & low 160's from thanksgiving to Decemeber and then I had a hard time struggling to keep it at high 150's & 160's. Last July we went on a family trip and I was low 160's. When we got back it went up a little and then I went up to the to low 170's. DH went to Afghanistan and I still struggled. Over Christmas we went to Vegas to visit my mom for our first ever Christmas in Vegas with the kids. When we got back we started the BL 7 challenge. I was at 176.6. I got down to 165 during the challenge and then went to Florida and got derailed the following week after a weekend in Virginia at a Nascar race. I struggled all of April and finally got back on track at the beginning of this month. Today I'm at 166.2 and we leave for Disney in 83 days. I must kick this into gear and just DO THIS! I've set a goal of 10lbs each month. Not on track this month -but I'd be happy to get close to 150. Right now I'm concentrating on getting into the 150's and then I will re-concentrate on the 140's. I'll get there - I know I can do it and knowing I only have 83 days seems to have put me in panic mode. I've done this before - I know I can do it.
Oh - Also, I count calories now and don't do WW's anymore. I track on www.sparkpeople.com

Today's QOTD is a two part question. Tell us a little about yourself and your goals for this challenge.
I'm 35 years old. I'm a WW leader and adore WW but I'm struggling right now to lose/maintain weight. I only have 10 lbs to lose but am losing it sooooooo slowly that it will take me all summer. Right now I'm eating around 1200 calories a day but two days a week I eat 500-700 or so more. For me, this is the only way to lose weight. To mix up light eating days with a few heavier. If I do this perfectly I can lose about 3 lbs a month.
I have 3 girls: 8, 7, 2. And a very supportive dh. My challenges are how quickly I can gain weight & how slowly I lose it. How much I ADORE food. Love it. And my lack of time to exercise. I work 3 part time jobs (one is baking wedding cakes, yikes!) so my schedule is crazy busy one week & normal busy the next. When it is normal busy I am all over exercise. But when it's crazy busy... So I'm inconsistent with the activity.

Hello fellow Losers! I am a 56 and have a DD17. We are hooked on Disney. We like both WDW and DL and love DCL!! We are DVC members and typically go on a Disney trip about 3 times a year!
I have been following Weight Watchers since November. I hit a rough patch after a mid-March cruise, but am back on track. I am closing in on 25 pounds lost in about 6-1/2 months. I am hoping for a 10 pound loss during the summer BL challenge.
Good luck to all!!!

Hi!
My name is Maria and I'm 40, I've been married for 16 years and we have one ds11. I work full-time in a mostly sedentary job. I've been heavy since grad school (I ate my way through my thesis ) many moons ago, lost 25 lbs a couple of times, but...I have plenty to lose. My goal for this Challenge is to lose 10 lbs. I've only managed to lose 10 total since January 1, but I'm going to be ambitious! I did the last two challenges, but I didn't have a good mix of working out and eating right, and I just didn't lose much. I changed everything up at the end of April, and I've had great results since then.
I've completed the WDW Half Marathon twice (yes, you can be athletic and heavy), and I'm signed up for my 3rd in January. I would really like to lose alot of weight so I can be much faster, and enjoy myself more. I run or walk 4mi most days of the week.
We are going on vacation June 18-28 (Orlando, here we come! :yay:), so I'm going to have a huge challenge not to gain back everything I've lost while we're gone. My birthday is June 8, and I'm also trying to reach a major weight milestone by that date. I'm on track, but I have to follow my plan to get there. I do WW online, and when I follow it, it works. I'm also reading The Beck Diet Solution, and it has really helped with the mental aspects. I feel strong and lighter, and I just want to keep going! :woohoo:
Thanks to the organizers for running this Challenge. I can't believe how helpful it is! :grouphug:

Hi,
Just a little about myself - I am 36, married for 15 years to my high school sweetheart (well really jr high - ha,ha). We have 2 kids 13 and 11. I never had a weight problem until having kids and have struggled with it since. We have started a walk/jog program and I also have started wearing a gowearfit monitor which tells me how many calories I have burned. It really makes me aware of the food I put in my mouth. One of my major challenges right now is that I work nights, 3 12hr shifts.
My goal for this challenge is to lose 20lbs and to be able to actually run a 5k. My son and I are doing a 5k on Memorial Day - he will run and I will be mostly walking.:goodvibes
Good luck everyone!!

Welcome, Sarah (sahbuska)!
I copied our participant list to this thread so I can keep it updated.
It is so nice to see so many happy, motivated people joining us on our journey to good health! :goodvibes
We are off to see the Spokane Symphony do "The Music of Disney" tonight -- it was my Mother's Day present. :lovestruc We are going out to eat first where I will fill up on salad, stay away from the bread and eat half of whatever I order. I was also very, very careful with what I ate and my exercise today so I can stay on track.
Have a great evening all!

Just saw this new thread and it is a sign. I must join. Just yesterday DH and I had the discussion about moving the Bowflex out of his shop into the house so we will actually USE IT!
I am 34 year old, have 2 daughters, 10 and 14. During the Biggest Loser 7 Challenge i lost 17 pounds. I joined the 7.1 challenge, but never really did anything. I didn't even report my weigh ins, even though I did them. Just kind of got in a slump I guess, although I have managed to maintain my weight over the last month or so. I just kind of gain then loose the same 2 or 3 pounds.
This challenge, my goals are to loose 10-15 more pounds, and to really concentrate on exercising again. I would love to be able to do a 5K by the time the summer is over.

Jackie -- I highly recommend The Beck Diet Solution. Thinking about what I'm doing is the hardest part for me, and this book has really been helpful.
I did my 4 mi run this morning, and this afternoon I'm taking ds shopping for dh's birthday on Wed. Hopefully I'll burn a few calories walking around the mall!

Today's QOTD is a two part question. Tell us a little about yourself and your goals for this challenge.
My name is LuvBaloo. I've been married for 11 years, although DH & I have been together for 19 years. We were high school friends who became a couple 2 days after graduating, so not quite high school sweethearts;)
I have to DD's ages 4 & 7. I work full time and am taking one correspondence course at a time hoping to switch careers.
My weight slowly crept up through my adult years, and last Christmas I decided to get my butt in gear and do something about it. I started BL7 in January and have been slowly chipping off the pounds this year.
I'm happy that so many people have sent their starting weights in, and unfortunately I haven't done mine yet. I use the WiiFit for my scale, and DH set up the new TV on Thursday evening and hasn't got the Wii working yet  He was supposed to have it working for this morning, but there's still no picture, so when gets up he wakes up he'll have to fix it for me!:confused3

Oh, that sounds so wonderful! Unfortunately I don't know if I'd be able to keep QUIET and not try to sing along. :scared1:
I did have to get my DS who is 9 to stop "conducting" once. I told him to do his conducting by his knees. :rotfl: There was an adult behind me who had a comment about just about everything at the beginning but finally quieted down. It was a wonderful concert and they did music from the Pirates of the Caribean for the encore. It is a treat to watch those songs played live!
Just saw this new thread and it is a sign. I must join.
Welcome! Be sure and PM your starting weight to LuvBaloo. First weigh in is Friday, 5/22. You may want to read the sticky at the top of the WISH page, too, if you haven't already.

Nice job getting that exercise done right off the bat!
Thank you again for being our weightkeeper, LuvBaloo. Hope the WiiFit gets hooked up soon. I don't know why it is so hard to connect all the electronics to the t.v. but it is!
QOTD -- What are your plans for the summer? How will your plans help or hinder your goals for this challenge?
I have a DL trip coming up on 6/10. That helps my goals because I working, working to get in better shape for that trip. I can tell the 30 day shred video is giving me stamina. Still working on that in between days workout. Today I'll track my steps and make sure they are up there.
Later this summer, we will go to Lake Okoboji with all of DH's family. They have a places that has been in the family for 116 years. Everyone takes turns cooking so you don't have a lot of control of what is served. I am going to have to come up with some strategies to be sure I stay on track no matter who is cooking.
Have a great day, losers! Take good care of yourselves. :goodvibes

Good Sat morning. I just pm'd Luvbaloo my starting weight.
I will be 54 the 29th of this month. I lost some weight a couple of years ago but it has all come back. A good deal of it has been from this year. Ds2 left for college and is having not only fun but doing well (we are talking Dean's List well) but a month after he left I came down with shingles. If I am very tired I will still feel the pain but it has made me very lazy since It took me over two months to get off the medication. I also just found out (this week) that the bunion on my left foot is the least of my worries. My arch is extremely flat, there is a third bone spur and then the ankle has arthritis. I am reading everything I can about arthritis do see if there is a better diet to help it. It does hinder me in walking but I know I have to do something because what I have read so far all talks about keeping active and losing weight. Might be hard to do if I do get the bunion removed in June.
I have been married for almost 31 years this AUg and have 2 great sons 24 and 19. I could not ask for a better husband (college sweethearts) or sons. I have been at the same job for 32 years. I teach math and especially in the past few years AP calc. I love what I do and most of the kids are great.
Good luck to everyone. I will be introducing a new COW next week

QOTD -- What are your plans for the summer? How will your plans help or hinder your goals for this challenge?
We had started to plan a beach trip, but then my car started acting up and we decided it was time for a new one. So, that kind of dipped into our vacation $. Now we just can't decide if we will go or not. I suppose it is somewhat hindering me at the moment. If I had definite plans I think I would be more determined to lose a little more in order to look good in the old bathing suit.
I am going to try to start thinking about it like we will go anyway. I definitely need to go shopping today. We have no groceries! Nothing healthy to eat this morning! I am so not organized starting this yet, but plan to get it together today! I am one of those people that have a hard time eating right for some reason if I don't have it all planned out. I know it sounds crazy, but if my house is messy it makes it harder for me to eat healthy and exercise. For some reason I just want to be lazier when the house is a wreck.:confused3 Crazy huh?

Well, I just returned from a trip, and other than a beat the heat weekend mid-summer to Prescott, I have nothing till Labor Day. So I'll be focused on eating healthy and swimming all summer long!

My plans for the summer include a trip to Williamsburg, VA and a small trip to Wheeling, WV. Neither of those should throw me off, though. But I have a TON of parties I have to attend in May & June. So that will be my challenge. And in July I have 5 wedding cakes to bake so that will be tricky too. It's not too bad, but I do have to taste the frosting & end product to make sure it is up to my standards and goofy as this is, I hate wasting calories on it. I wish I could just trust my family as my tasters, but I can't. If I haven't tasted it myself, I worry.
Anyway, we also have a pool in our backyard & we spend a lot of time there & grill out a lot. So I should be able to stay right on track with that.

Our plans for the summer include a vacation at Universal in June, and then several day trips on Saturdays -- Salem (yes, that Salem), the Freedom Trail, Boston Harbor Islands, etc. We've decided we need to make a better effort to see more of the area we live in. We've been to most of these places, but we're going to take time to really enjoy our adventures. I will have a major obstacle in the Orlando trip. We're staying club and it's going to be hard for me to get out of the "get my money's worth" mentality so I don't overeat. Plus, my favorite restaurant is Margaritaville, I can't say no to volcano nachos -- and you know it's 5 o'clock somewhere :rolleyes1
It's all going to be a matter of balance. I'm just going to take each day as it comes and try to limit myself to one indulgence per day. The local trips are easier, although every time we go to the North End of Boston I have to stop at Mike's Pastry shop (incredible pizelles, gelato, Italian cookies, etc.). My dh makes fun of me and likes to say, "You can't find the post office in your own neighborhood, but you can find a pastry shop hidden away on a narrow street in the North End." Yep, I can! :thumbsup2

My name is Susan- the screen name is in reference to Jayne Mansfield- I really just love her. there's more to her the the Hollywood blond bombshell image- she had 5 kids, her husband was in the military and she was so poor she struck out on her own to take pictures for groceries and in doing so was --discovered. She was a firm believer in exercise (which in the 50's was practically unheard of for a woman) and attracted crowds at the base she was living doing exercises in her front yard lol. She had a lot of drive and ambition, her first husband had big problems with this and left her. She eventually married Mr. Universe and Mariska Hargitay is her daughter from that marriage (Law and Order)

I guess I was thinking about her because in last weeks Family Guy episode they were doing a parody of Stephen King's Stand By me and one of them while looking at a playboy says something about the girls starving themselves and there couldn't be one of them under 180 lol. Anyway, I recently lost 25 pounds and fully intend to keep it that way even though every day is a struggle. I'd like to lose 10 more pounds but I'm not really sure about that. Trying hard to find the motivation. Just maintaining has been a struggle though the last month. Doing nothing really this summer, just saving for the next trip to Disneyland, next June.

Happy weekend!! It's great to see everyone here so motivated. We are all going to succeed at this.
Today's QOTD is a two part question. Tell us a little about yourself and your goals for this challenge.
Kathy and Tammy, sounds like you are both raring to go. What is PFP?
!I'm Kathy, a nurse and a single mom to DS7 which keeps me busy enough. I have always struggled with weight, pretty much yo-yo-ing my whole adult life, lose a little gain it all back, plus 10, etc. Almost 4 years ago, I rejoined weight watchers, and said it would be the last time, and lost about 40 pounds over about 2 years. I stuck with in another year, and wasn't losing anymore, so I quit, and did it on my own for a year, kept it off half the year, and regained 20 the second half. I rejoined WW this fall, and I've lost 7, but keep going up and down with the same few pounds. My highest weight was 226, and I'm 198 now. My goal for this challenge is to lose 15 pounds and get back to 183, which is where I was last april. I have some nice clothes from last spring that I want to fit again before summer is over. Plus I wear scrubs to work, and threw out my larger size last year when I went down a size, and now they are tight, so I need to lose this weight. I will not buy a larger size again.
I started my here on the Disboards when I was planning my son's first disney trip for his 5th bday, and after that trip, found the wish board, and have found so much great support here. It's a great group of people here.
Lisa- the pfp challenge is the biggest loser pound for pound challenge, where you go to the website and pledge how much weight you are going to lose and they match that amount with food that they donate to the hungry. It's open to continue pledging until the end of may. I pledged 15 pounds to them, and will lose that this time.
That's so cute you son was conducting. Sounds like a nice night. Last year, my niece's middle school choir did a concert of disney music, and it was so fun.
QOTD -- What are your plans for the summer? How will your plans help or hinder your goals for this challenge?
We have a couple weekends camping planned, and I have the last week of august/first week of sept off that we will go camping for part of, and do some day trips, beach, local amusementwater parks also. We are loving baseball, and also have a few minor league baseball games that we're planning to go to. I also have a big july 4th party, which is probably my biggest challenge. But if I can stay incontrol earlier in the week, and enjoy the day, and get right back on track the next day, I'll be successful. To stick with this challenge, I need to plan some healthy foods for camping, and good snacks for the baseball games, but also plan in some splurges for those times. If I want to have a few drinks while I'm camping, I'll do that. I'll have only one smore, not 5 around the campfire. Doing ww, when I'm on track and motivated, it's easy to plan, and not feel deprived, but it's when that insane person sneaks back into my head, and before I know it I've eaten 10 cookies is when I lose it. I want to keep myself more aware of what I'm eating this summer, and sit and enjoy the food, not just wolf it down like there's no tomorrow. It sounds so simple, I just need to think before I eat, yet it can be so hard sometimes.
Have a nice weekend everyone. Gotta get out and enjoy the beautiful day before the rain comes this afternoon.

Hi Maria. Are you right in boston? We live in danvers, right next to salem, and it's so true that there is so much to see locally, but we don't do it. I've not done any of the museums in Salem, but I love to go down and walk around Pickering wharf and poke in the shops. Have you been in October? That is a trip.
You just reminded me that we want to go into boston and do a Duck tour, this summer. we had tried last fall, but didn't get tickets early enough.
Nice to meet you neighbor.

[QUOTE=LuvBaloo;31848615]Today's QOTD is a two part question. Tell us a little about yourself and your goals for this challenge.
Im Barb - recently moved to FL from MA - came down for a WDW vacation in Sept and all but a month have been down here. Drove down day after Christmas. Met up with someone who treated me very badly, got caught on his DUI charge so trying to get myself out of the system. Also going through a divorce in MA, have a 17 yr old son living there too.
Soooo with all the stress Ive been under I gained 15 lbs! yikes! time to get it back off - i'll feel better about myself.
Joined gym about a 45min walk away from where Im living. This past week attended 10 gym classes, walked 30min/every day and 4x (2hrs total) on the weight machines.

QOTD -- What are your plans for the summer? How will your plans help or hinder your goals for this challenge?
I am going to be the downer for the group. I have no plans for the summer except possibly foot surgery. I am still waiting to set the date to have my bunion removed. I am getting together books to read, puzzles to do and needlework pieces to work on. I need to do this so I can get back to work in the fall. I do have a week of work scheduled in Aug where the school is paying me to go in to do some work and maybe a week late in July when I can get around to do the same thing.
Everyone else's plans sound great. I do have to get up to Boston again. I haven't been there in 25 years. The local news just did a story about SPringfield and the NBA Hall of Fame. I am surprised we have never been there. We have been to Cooperstown and the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton but never NBA. My dh asked why we had never been there. :confused3
Have a great weekend everyone.

Hi Kathy!
Yep, I actually live in Boston, East Boston to be specific. We usually go to Salem when we have out of town guests, so we end up walking around the central area, doing one of the witch trials, and eating at Red's. I think I'm afraid to go in Oct. :scared1: I'd like to actually take time to really see some of the sites, rather than hitting the surface. I've been through the House of Seven Gables about three times, so I think I've hit my limit on that one, though!
The Duck tours are awesome! They will let your son drive while you are in the Charles, he will love it! We also want to do one of the graveyard tours at night. I think my ds11 will really enjoy that.
Very nice to meet you, too! :cutie:

Our plans for the summer include a camping trip to Gulf Shores in June, a camping trip to Fort Wilderness over the fourth of July and another trip to Gulf Shores at the end of July. Then it is back to reality when school goes back and football and cheerleading start again!:cheer2:
The biggest challenge for me I think will be eating out, but we will be camping so mostly eating at the campsite.

I had foot surgery (bunionectomy/osteootomy) May 22nd last year. Took me till early July (day I got out of the boot) to get back to the gym. Early Aug when the stitches were finally out and I could get my foot wet (didnt like using that shower chair!) I was able to spend lots of time at my friends pool.
Good luck with your surgery

Maria :upsidedowAhhh Reds. Now there's some place I won't be going to during this challenge. What a great breakfast they have. My brother moved to western MA from salem, so we usually go there about once a year with them.
I bet your son will love the graveyard tour. It's pretty cool just walking through the old graveyard during the day. I've heard the pirate museum is good too.
Dona- that doesn't sound like a fun summer. It's good you're planning ahead to find things to keep you busy after the surgery, and hopefully it won't keep you down too long. I've not been to the Basketball museum in Springfield yet either, but had heard recently they were in financial difficulties, so I want to go soon. My brother lives near springfield, so we get out there often.

Today's QOTD is a two part question. Tell us a little about yourself and your goals for this challenge.
Hi, I'm 46, and married to a great guy. We have been together for 25 years and married for 14 years. We are left coasters and I think we live in paradise. I'm an office manager for an auto dealership. I've worked there for 24 years.
I have struggled with my weight all my life. I am currently doing WW and have done it in the past as well. My current loss since my most recent WW return is 32 lbs.
QOTD -- What are your plans for the summer? How will your plans help or hinder your goals for this challenge?
We don't really have any summer plans. Our long vacation this year is spending a week in the Eastern Sierras for our fishing trip. The wonderful part eating wise on this vacation is we are staying in a cabin that has a full kitchen. We will be preparing all our meals.

I have no specific plans for the summer. I'm hoping that a friend from the WB PC cruise will make it up here for a camping visit, but she hasn't finalized her plans yet. Other than that, have lots of work around the house to do. I am hoping to find a different job and move, but no guarantees when the right opportunity will show up.

Well I went to the pool today to find there were classes so I couldn't swim so I got on the low exercise bike thing and did 20 minutes. Didn't feel it was enough so tried 3 different treadmill's fat burner programs- well--tried to figure out 3 only to have one sort of figured out then it got an error so I tried this weird swingy/bouncy thing that seemed posessed and proceeded to kick my rear end for about 40 minutes so I ended up exercising for an hour and 15 minutes. Sat in the jacuzzi for about 20, that was nice but wanted to go to a Scottish festival that was actually really close to our house and did.
Was planning on eating something good there but spent $24 on a great dragon long sleeved shirt for my son who is a 3x so hard to find great clothes for decent prices and spent all my money lol. Got to hear my bags though--really love my bagpipes nothing like hearing them Loud right in front of ya ;-)
So-- did well on eating dinner when I got back. Had leftover meatloaf and a great salad. I was planning on having a hot chocolate and a few chocolate cream sticks as a snack a couple hours later, but started watching the repeat of this weeks biggest loser and remembered I had bought a big thing of kiwi's at Costco so had 2 of those and a glass of wine and I'm fine. I remembered when Jillian visited Helen and she had fruit everywhere-- I do like fruit. It's farm season! I intend to visit the farms at least once every 2 weeks this summer.
I would like to get up to Portland in July when the disney Christmas Carol bus visits. It'll be there before the 4th and that's when we like to go up there to cross the border to get the Good fireworks lol. I was hoping to get a yurt on the coast for that week but was disappointed to find them all rented months ago. (now we know jeez) We like the fireworks around where we live though it's kind of all week everywhere so I asked for the week off this year. Soo- I guess the week of the 4th will be fun and something to look forward to. It's kind of a bummer for me though because I'm from Illinois and the 4th was such a huge deal there and REAL summer if you know what I mean. It's always cold here later...doesn't seem right. And there's no lightning bugs.......at least Washington has those real gold sparklers- not the stupid flare things Oregon sells.
I bought a swimsuit at Costco- a size down from what I was and the dumb thing is kind of loose on the top lol. Oh well- it'll just take some adjusting and I didn't spend much on it if I do lose more weight..:-) I was wondering if I should buy a size 12 instead of 14 but I really hate trying to get a tight wet suit off yech. All of my clothes are getting too big-- it's kind of overwhelming right now. I was hoping to start finding great stuff on the Target clearance rack but everything I've been seeing is ugly. I'm going to be very picky choosing clothes. I know fitting into clothes I love is going to be amazing motivation to maintain. I did manage to grab my bike when I got home today around 4 and hit a few garage sales around my neighborhood. (raided husbands wallet) Didn't find any clothes but I think I will go out of my way to start looking at Craigs list and the paper for garage sales this garage sale season like I used to and ride my bike around to them. I can also use our gps now too to make it easier to drive 'em and go with my Mom and her friend when they go.

59sJayne- Nice work on the exercise and eating. Sounds like some interesting machines at your gym. Be careful you aren't injured. Fruit is so good, and the local fresh fruits will be coming soon. I made my shopping list, and raspberries are half the price they were last week, so we'll pick up a bunch of them. They're my son's favorite, but I wouldn't pay the crazy prices.
Luvbaloo-Congrats on the loss!! Everyone who has the wii, loves it. I might get it for my son and me next dec b-day/xmas.
Tink1963-congrats on 32 pounds!! That's awesome.
I have had 2 days completely on track, and checking in here really helps motivate me to stay that way. I'm off the the grocery store, and then we're going to see Monsters vs Aliens, and a soccer game this afternoon. It looks like the rain is stopping.
Have a nice sunday.

I missed a couple of days checking in, looks like everyone has been busy. We had yearbook meeting yesterday trying to get everything finished up so we can get it submitted this week. It has been a lot of work for the students but they have done an amazing job. I had a couple of nights of not sleeping so well and that caught up with me yesterday as well. Today is a new day, ready to get more focused on my exercising, drinking water and better portion control. I too need to focus on eating more fresh fruits, veggies are never the problem but the fruits I just don't seem to get in.
Going to get caught up on the QOTD's now...
Today's QOTD is a two part question. Tell us a little about yourself and your goals for this challenge.
I will be 40 this August, have been married for 19 years and have two children - DD-16 and DS-14. We are just finishing up our 7th year of homeschooling and I am so ready for the summer break. We all love WDW and thankfully having DVC allows us to make at least a couple of trips a year with the one after Thanksgiving usually being two weeks. Like everyone the busy family keeps us hoping and does make it a challenge to get the exercise in like I plan.
My goals for this challenge is to lose 10 pounds. I have lost 40 since August 08 and still have a good 25 pounds. The other big goal is to get back into consistent walking at the park, I felt so much better when we were doing that. I am not following a particular plan, just watching the types of food I'm eating and keeping control with the portions.
QOTD -- What are your plans for the summer? How will your plans help or hinder your goals for this challenge?
We just returned from our WDW trip so nothing major happening this summer. We will try to get to the lake some for some relaxing time. DH just came home yesterday and ask if I'd like to make a trip to the mountains for a weekend...I said well we need to talk to DD because she isn't a fan of that and he said oh no, I was talking just the two of us:thumbsup2. Hoping for late July for that one. Other than that, we'll be around the house trying to get a few things done and look forward to our next WDW trip in Nov. None of our plans should cause any issues with the challenge.
We have DD's piano recital happening this afternoon and then we'll go out to eat with the family. I'm fixing bacon and eggs for brunch here in just a little while.
It's been great getting to know everyone. I hope you have a great Sunday.

QOTD -- What are your plans for the summer? How will your plans help or hinder your goals for this challenge?
My summer plans are:
Two of my BIL's are getting married -one next weekend and one the week of the 4th of July- I'm a little nervous because we will be spending some time a few hours away from home for a few days and I won't have control of food while I'm there.
For our Anniversary weekend (22 years) we are taking our DD17 to take a look at the University of Missouri. Hopefully I can do good while we are there.
Then in August we are doing 18 nights at Disney. I KNOW I won't do well there, but the key will be coming home and jumping back on track and quickly before I head to Vegas.
Then for Labor Day weekend I'm going to Vegas to visit my Mom. Luckily I think I can do fairly good by just watching what I eat - At least I know quite a few places that offer decent food.

Foot problems are the pits! My physical therapist told me that my heel spurs are more like heel spoons. I hope that they find a treatment that works for you soon.
Thank you, too, Donac, for doing the COW for us. I am looking forward to it. :goodvibes
Oh, I've been to that party before. I think it is the nasty perfectionist getting in the way. Good job getting your plan together for the week. That really helps me, too. :thumbsup2
Well, I just returned from a trip, and other than a beat the heat weekend mid-summer to Prescott, I have nothing till Labor Day. So I'll be focused on eating healthy and swimming all summer long!
Staying cool in the Arizona summer is a challenge in itself and swimming is so much fun! :beach:
And in July I have 5 wedding cakes to bake so that will be tricky too. It's not too bad, but I do have to taste the frosting & end product to make sure it is up to my standards and goofy as this is, I hate wasting calories on it. I wish I could just trust my family as my tasters, but I can't. If I haven't tasted it myself, I worry.
Anyway, we also have a pool in our backyard & we spend a lot of time there & grill out a lot. So I should be able to stay right on track with that.
When its your job you do have make sure it is just right. Sounds like you have a good plan to stay on track this summer even with the cake -- plus wedding cakes are so happy!
Sounds like you have a good plan to have fun and keep on track. The nice thing about club level (I've stayed at AKL and GC) is that they have fruits and small portions so you can take tastes of things and not be too bad off.
Trying hard to find the motivation. Just maintaining has been a struggle though the last month. Doing nothing really this summer, just saving for the next trip to Disneyland, next June.
I've seen your trip pics and know how your hard work paid off. I know that you will find your motivation again and will stay on track this summer. You can do it! :thumbsup2
Happy weekend!! It's great to see everyone here so motivated. We are all going to succeed at this. It sounds so simple, I just need to think before I eat, yet it can be so hard sometimes.
You're so motivated and happy, Kathy, I know that you will succeed this challenge! :cheer2: That thinking before you eat is a lot harder than it sounds. I have been more aware when I am eating because I am bored or tired -- I try a glass of water with lemon and that usually takes care of it.

My favorite Disney song is "A Whole New World" from Aladdin. I'm so glad I checked in here today. I was about to blow off my workout because it's late in the day and I haven't done anything, but it's just a walk today so there's no reason not to take it.
I had an accident with a clam plate and twizzlers last night. I did contain it to one meal, so I'm considering that progress. But, I consciously chose to eat it, so I have to live with the consequences. On the bright side, we have a good menu plan for this week, so it shouldn't be too hard to stick to it.
It is great to read everyone's summer plans. I am already looking forward to the long weekend for Memorial Day, that's when summer really kicks off for us.

My favorite Disney song.... I hope this doesnt make me sound depressing. But my favorite is "I will go flying no more" from Toy Story. It's just such a profound moment where ignorance is no longer bliss. And it make you finally see Buzz as a real person & start to love him. OK, ok, I may love Disney movies waaaaaayyyyyy too much.
My favorite motivational Disney song, however, is I'll Make a Man Out of You" from Mulan. I have it on my MP3 player & when I really want to stop running & just walk I play it and it makes me keep running imagining Mulan trying to get to the top of that pole with just those ropes with the weights on the ends. Ya know what I mean? I identify with Mulan a lot anyway so maybe that's why.
(Be a man)
We must be swift as
the coursing river
(Be a man)
With all the force
of a great typhoon
(Be a man)
With all the strength
of a raging fire
Mysterious as the
dark side of the moon
Oh, and I love what all the people training say too:
I'm never gonna catch my breath
Say goodbye to those who knew me
Boy, was I a fool in school for cutting gym
This guy's got 'em scared to death
Hope he doesn't see right through me
Now I really wish that I knew how to swim
I can totally identify with I'm never gonna catch my breath and Boy, was I a fool in school for cutting gym when I'm trying to run!

Hi, I'm Jessica. I've tried to do a few of these challenges before but, they didn't last. Hopefully the QOTD will keep me motivated to come check-in. I really want to lose 5-10 pounds before my June trip to the World. I want to try to look more toned.
QOTD -- What are your plans for the summer? How will your plans help or hinder your goals for this challenge?
My summer starts with an amazing 7 day trip to Disney World. The rest of my summer looks to be pretty much staying local. I will defiently be eating on vacation, but I'll be doing a lot of moving too. I hope it will kind of equal out.
QOTD -- What is your favorite Disney song? It can be from a park, movie, play, etc.

QOTD -- What are your plans for the summer? How will your plans help or hinder your goals for this challenge?
Leaving for WDW June 20, and my hindrance is that we are on the DDP. How can I turn down those desserts? After our 7 days at WDW we aren't coming home, we're heading to Ohio for the next week to visit family. IT will be a little easier to get on track with the diet there, but eating out and traveling are always a challenge for me.
Next QOTD - fav Disney song: Hakuna Matata! It means no worries, for the rest of your days...
Here are the lyrics:
Hakuna Matata!
What a wonderful phrase
Hakuna Matata!
Ain't no passing craze
It means no worries
For the rest of your days
It's our problem-free philosophy
Hakuna Matata!
Why, when he was a young warthog...
When I was a young wart hoooog!
Very nice.
Thanks!
He found his aroma lacked a certain appeal
He could clear the savannah after every meal
I'm a sensitive soul, though I seem thick-skinned
And it hurt that my friends never stood downwind
And oh, the shame
(He was ashamed!)
Thoughta changin' my name
(Oh, what's in a name?)
And I got downhearted
(How did you feel?)
Ev'rytime that I...
Pumbaa! Not in front of the kids!
Oh... sorry.
Hakuna Matata!
What a wonderful phrase
Hakuna Matata!
Ain't no passing craze
It means no worries
For the rest of your days
Yeah, sing it, kid!
It's our problem-free
philosophy...
Hakuna Matata!
Hakuna matata
[Repeats]
It means no worries
For the rest of your days.
It's our problem-free philosophy
Hakuna Matata
[Repeats]

I third I wanna be like you :goodvibes It's nice to be amongst those who 'get' you...
At the scottish festival a ladies choir sang for awhile and I whispered to a friendly older lady that they reminded me of the flowers in Alice in Wonderland. She asked me if I meant the animated one and said she'd never seen that. I just felt horrified. What rock had she been under??? Anyways my second pick would 'probly be Scales and Arpeggios from Aristocats. I used to play that song over and over on our turn table. The sad part is I was in my teens at the time. The glimmerings of early crazy cat lady I guess.

You're so motivated and happy, Kathy, I know that you will succeed this challenge! :cheer2: That thinking before you eat is a lot harder than it sounds. I have been more aware when I am eating because I am bored or tired -- I try a glass of water with lemon and that usually takes care of it.
!Thanks Lisa. I've been trying to drink a big glass of water first when I feel the need to eat and that does stop the craving sometimes.
Wow! I was so happy to see everyone checking in.
Running a bit late on a lazy Sunday morning so am a bit late with the QOTD.
QOTD -- What is your favorite Disney song? It can be from a park, movie, play, etc.
!I love Kiss the girl from the little mermaid.
QOTD -- What is your favorite Disney song? It can be from a park, movie, play, etc.
Wow, I love so many of them, but I think I have to say my favorite is "Once Upon A Dream" from Sleeping Beauty. I've always said that is the song I would dance to at my wedding...still waiting for that...haven't run into my prince with "that gleam" in his eye!
Where are those princes???!!! I haven't met mine yet either, but haven't really been looking too hard lately.
I had an accident with a clam plate and twizzlers last night. I did contain it to one meal, so I'm considering that progress. But, I consciously chose to eat it, so I have to live with the consequences. On the bright side, we have a good menu plan for this week, so it shouldn't be too hard to stick to it.
we all have those days, and like you're planning, get right back on track and you'll be fine. It's letting it snowball that gets me in trouble.

You can't turn down the desserts, but you can make other smart choices. We did the dining plan for the first time in January, and I ate my desserts, but I didn't eat any fried foods, and I tried to get my water in, and with all the walking, I ended up maintaining, which was great. It's getting right back to program after vacation that messes me up. They were talking about this at ww on saturday, and my leader said there are 2 wrong ways to do vacation. 1. stick totally to the plan, and not indulge at all, and 2. go totally crazy and eat and drink everything in site. The middle ground is best- eat what you really want, drink what you want, but don't go crazy, and you will be fine. No worries!! Love hakuna matata.

I'd been doing good, and bought myself a box of the hundred calorie pack hostess cupcakes as a reward, thinking I'm on track, and I'll have one a night. Well, I ate the whole box yesterday. I guess that's one thing I can't have in the house. Today's a new day. Back on track.

I've got some catching up to do... I spent all weekend in bed sick and I'm just starting to feel like myself again.
Tell us about yourself and your goals.
I'm Vanessa. I'm 21 years old and my life goal is to work in guest relations. My goal for this clallange is to lose the 25 lbs I've been struggling with. I never had problems with my weight until I moved home from Florida in Jan. of 08. I gained about 30 lbs. I want to lose most of it before I go back in Aug.
My plans for the summer are to just survive. I am moving back down to Florida in the middle of Aug. (I check in the 19th to be exact.) And I want to lose some weight before I go back. I'm hoping this challange will be the motivation I need!:yay:
My favorite Disney song is either the soundtrack to Wishes (I know it's more than one song...) or "Your heart will lead you home" from the home on the range.

Today is a new day, ready to get more focused on my exercising, drinking water and better portion control. I too need to focus on eating more fresh fruits, veggies are never the problem but the fruits I just don't seem to get in.
Sounds like a great plan to stay on track, Tammy! :thumbsup2
Its a stat holiday tomorrow, and it feels so good to take some time to just relax.
Enjoy your day off. Hope the weather cooperates! :goodvibes
I was about to blow off my workout because it's late in the day and I haven't done anything, but it's just a walk today so there's no reason not to take it.
Nice job getting back on track, Maria!
I can totally identify with I'm never gonna catch my breath and Boy, was I a fool in school for cutting gym when I'm trying to run!
Another fool who cut gym here . . . we didn't even have to take PE after we were freshmen in high school. So sad! :sad2:
Hi, I'm Jessica. I've tried to do a few of these challenges before but, they didn't last. Hopefully the QOTD will keep me motivated to come check-in.

QOTD -- Do you have mini-goals to help you meet you big goals for this challenge?
I have two main mini-goals. The first is that I must work out a minimum of 30 minutes a day. I would like to get up to 45 minutes or an hour but 30 minutes is a good start. I will continue to add shred days to help reach that goal. My second goal, is to lose at least 2 pounds a week. I will do that by concentrating on eating fruits and vegetables and water, water, water!
Have a great day, losers!

Mini goals:
OK. I need to start doing my back exercises again. Since I haven't been doing them at all- I think 3 times a week is doable.
Getting out to the farms for fresh veggies/fruit. I'm not a huge fan of veggies but I like them better when they are farm fresh. My goal is to get out there once every 2 weeks this summer. I kind of don't like driving out there because there's nothing else to get out that way any more but if I plan garage sales right- it should be ok. Was also thinking it would be a great bike ride occasionally although my husband thinks I'm nuts.

Good Morning!
My mini goals are to get in 30 mins of walking/running each day at least - yesterday we walked 3.1 miles. My son and I are walking a 5k on Memorial Day and I wanted to make sure I could walk that far!! Man am I sore this morning though.
I also have a mini goal of losing 10lbs by June 10th, I really hope to be under 160lbs by then. We are going to the beach!! Can't wait to walk/run in the sand at sunrise with my hubby!!
I thought about my favorite Disney song and it has to be Life is a Highway by Rascall Flats from Cars - I also like the Wishes music too. I worked in Fantasyland for a few months right after Wishes started and it was my most favorite thing to see every night I worked. We have since moved and haven't been to Disney in about 3 years. We go in October and I can't wait!!

If I wasn't married I'd probably be the "cat" lady, lol! DH will only let me have 2 and that is questionable somedays. He hates my cats :scared1: I tell him if they go, so do I - LOL! He keeps saying the cats go with the kids when they go to college. I just keep telling him - yeah kitties and dorms don't mix.
Actually DD17 will be devasted and so will my one cat when she goes off to college. He sleeps on her bed at night.
QOTD -- Do you have mini-goals to help you meet you big goals for this challenge?
I've broken my goals down into 10 lbs per month. Even if I don't quite make it- it gives me something to push for. I'll be close this month, even though I still have a ways to go - just trudging along - one day at a time. I've noticed the smaller goal feels easier to achieve and not so overwhelming.
Keep up the good work everyone. Push through the urges this week. We can ALL have awesome loses this weekend. WE CAN DO THIS! :yay::yay:
I just got done doing a 2 mile walk at lunch.

My goals are to work out for 30 minutes each day (I do Wii Fit, all aerobic activities for 30 min). I'd also like to incorporate some evening walking, but that's easier said than done, our evenings are way too full already!
My other goal is to have lost a total of 30 pounds when we go to WDW in June (I've been on this diet awhile and have lost 16 of those 30 already, so 14 pounds by June 20, we'll see!)
Woo hoo - Great job!

Plans for the summer...work. I will be going to Leavenworth for a weekend in early september and then to DL in mid september...oh, and I have a Mahjongg weekend in Anacortes over my birthday in July. That's about it.
Favorite Disney song...I love the oboe part in Pirates Yo Ho attraction soundtrack where it goes from being the instramental yo ho to the bayou sound. You hear it again right near the end. I also like the Mickey Mouse Club song as we had it as our departure song at our reception. Everyone stood in a circle with their arms around each other and sang with it.
Mini Goals...to go to my WW meetings each week and hold myself accountable to my decisions. (I would love to be down 24.8 by my birthday in July, but I am not holding out much hope and won't do anything "drastic" to get there.)
Have a great day!

I was thinking about something and BL lately. Do you think that they will bring Michael's brother/Ron's son to the next season? I know that is someone I think could really use their help. I've been thinking a lot since the finally and they did the contest for those two girls to have one come on the show - that maybe they will bring Michael's brother to the show. I feel so sorry for him when you see him look at his brother and dad. You can see the pain in his eyes. His mom lost weight and now his brother and his dad. I'd really like to see that.

!My mini-goals are to keep exercising 30min 3 day/week, and 60 min 2 days/week at least. Stopping my exercise last summer was my down fall, and I won't let that happen again. I also want to journal all my food when I am home. When I go away for a weekend, I won't journal, but will make healthy choices and drink my water.
Great question Lisa. Makes me think about how the little things like you said- water, fruits and vegies will help us reach our big goals of weight loss. They really can make the difference.

My mini-goal is a 'perfect' day on program (WW). I still don't have all the supplies I need in the house. The 'perfect' day is: in points range, all my water, 5 servings fruits/veggies, a whole grain serving, DAIRY :sad2:, and my 'healthy fat' serving. I always seem to be missing something or other.

As many people are posting here and not on the team threads, I hope LuvBaloo and lisah0711 don't mind if I butt in real quick to announce the results of the last challenge:
Hear ye, Hear ye! The weightkeeper speaks (finally, I know!)
Here are the final results. Please remember that I am human and mistakes are made. Hopefully I have not made any, but if you feel you should be on the list and were not, please PM me.
Due to a lack of reporting in the last week, the final results will not be broken up by team. Here are the final percentages, based on starting weight and the last week's weigh in. The color of the font will indicate which team they were on. (So, purple font is purple team, green font is green team).
PLEASE REMEMBER, THESE ARE FROM THE START OF THE 7.1 CHALLENGE WHICH IS SEPARATE FROM BL 7. SEVERAL PEOPLE SENT ME THEIR STARTING WEIGHTS FROM BL 7, THAT WEIGHT WAS NOT THE STARTING WEIGHT I USED AS THAT WAS A SEPARATE CHALLENGE.

just read and caught up.....i have terrible memory so i probably won't be able to keep everyone straight, but i'm trying :goodvibes
My name is Molli, i'll be 37 this summer and SAHM to DD 16 and 12. I do have a 'part-time' job where I fill in for folks off for the day at a medical office. I am an x-ray tech. been working as much as i can get until school is out saving for our Aug WDW trip. I have yo-yo'ed the same 20 lbs since I lost it back in 2003. i did keep off for almost a year then the bouncing began. My goal for this challenge is to lose 10 lbs...ASAP as I did the same as and earlier poster....bought new shorts last summer when i was at goal and they are too small now. I started Jillian's Making the Cut workout program last week, along with a co-worker so a mini-goal is to survive it! however, i feel off the eating wagon last weekend, which is totally my hurdle. i must be able to stay in control to not gain over the weekend. I just WI and i'm up 3 lbs since last Friday morning. urg! this coming weekend is a 4 day (DH off Fri) so I really must not fall as that is 1/2 a week! I am counting calories
My over all goal (and jackie i can't remember the end date either!) is to shed that last stubborn 10 lbs and keep it off all summer. We have 11 days at WDW planned, including our first club level stay, and I need to feel good about myself lounging at the pool sipping a free beer :woohoo: ( well really, pre-payed.....lol)

I don't think 28 points of fried chicken and french fries is what they have in mind...:lmao::lmao:(OK, I haven't been THAT bad)
Oh, I have!:rotfl: But usually it's a cheeseburger and fries.
Sadly it's easy to do. I went to dinner a few weeks ago to the 99 and went online to plan what to eat, and was floored at how many points most of their menu was. I was on track at the time, so I got some sauteed scallop dinner that was 18 pts, ate half, and had a 3 pt soup with it. When I look at the points for nachos, cheeseburgers, and anything fried before I go out, it's so much easier not to eat them. www.dwlz.com is a great website with points values for lots of restaurants. It always goes back to having a plan.
Hang in there Molli!! You can do it this weekend. We are going to my sisters camp, and I'm going to plan and bring lots of fruit, vegies, salad, and I usually bake cookies, but I think I'm going to skip that this year. I don't think that would be good. Keep that thought of you sipping that beer in those shorts in your head this weekend. :drinking1
I'm off to work, and then baseball right after. Have a great day all.
A big congratulations to all the 7.1 losers!! :cool1:

Wow!! Look at how much I missed just being "unplugged" for the weekend! But I have read everything and I think I am caught up. I will try to briefly reply to the QOTD that I missed, but I am at work, so not much time.
QOTD -- What are your plans for the summer? How will your plans help or hinder your goals for this challenge?
Our summer plans include our "regular" July 4th time at Cape Code (we have family there and have been doing this for years)... that will probably be a 3-4 day "eat-a-thon" that I will valiently try to fight my way through unscathed!
Then we have our "regular" family vacation with my side of the family in early August. That is usually a bit easier to navigate, food-wise.
Plus I will be taking both children away individually for their own long weekend. I usually do it in May, but it is getting harder to take them out of school, so we will probably do it over the summer. Again, I have more control over the food (especially when DS and I camp), so that shouldn't be too terrible.
My ORIGINAL plan from earlier this year was to hit my goal weight by my birthday in mid-June, but I am struggling with the last ten pounds and I am not sure I will make it. But I will NOT give up. I will DEFINITELY be at goal by the end of July... by DD's birthday on July 31st to be precise!!
I will answer the other QOTD that I missed in another post, so that this isn't too long!.....................P

QOTD -- What is your favorite Disney song? It can be from a park, movie, play, etc
Well... the first things that come to mind are actually "soundtracks". I love the sound track you hear as you walk down Main Street. Kind of like turn of the century music. Not sure exactly what it is called and I don't have it on any of the CDs I have bought, but I can "sing it in my head". That music tells me that I am "home". My second favorite would probably be the soundtrack to "Soarin". We first heard it on our first (and only) trip to DL in 2005 and we LOVED the ride. Then we got to experience it in Florida last year and it was just as magical. It really brings me back.
I have multiple CDs of Disney music, but I find myself putting in my "park music" CD most of the time.... I could listen to it over and over... the Wishes sound track (from the 50th anniversary of DL) is spectacular too. It makes me tear up every time!
It is funny how many of you mentioned somewhat lesser-known songs that I also love, like that song from Mulan and "scales and arpeggios". And there is a song from Hercules (the title escapes me at the moment) that DS and I love to listen to as well.
Thanks for asking......................P

I also have a mini goal of losing 10lbs by June 10th, I really hope to be under 160lbs by then. We are going to the beach!! Can't wait to walk/run in the sand at sunrise with my hubby
I am hoping to lose 10 pounds by the time I leave for DL on 6/10. I've lost two this week. It is going to be a push to get that done in time. We can do it! :cheer2:
Keep up the good work everyone. Push through the urges this week. We can ALL have awesome loses this weekend. WE CAN DO THIS! :yay::yay: I just got done doing a 2 mile walk at lunch.
Good job with the walking at lunch, Melanie!
Aye--kittens are me weakness. pirate:
I have decided to give up reading the highly addictive pets and lost and found section of Craigs list for this kitten season.:surfweb:
Yes, it is so hard when so many pets need good homes. :sad1: I will try and take a picture of the Whitewater Snacks kitty for you when I am at DL in June -- I know she is a favorite of yours!
My other goal is to have lost a total of 30 pounds when we go to WDW in June (I've been on this diet awhile and have lost 16 of those 30 already, so 14 pounds by June 20, we'll see!)
You're already almost halfway there and have a great exercise plan! You can do it! :cheer2:
I don't have a specific goal for this challenge, but I am just aiming for 5 lbs at a time.
Shannon, your strategy is obviously a winning one since I saw your name on the biggest losers list! Congratulations!
Plans for the summer...work. I will be going to Leavenworth for a weekend in early september and then to DL in mid september...oh, and I have a Mahjongg weekend in Anacortes over my birthday in July. That's about it.
I hear that Leavenworth is very picturesque.

Oh, one of my all time favorites is also from Hercules, Meg's song "I won't say I'm In Love" (don't know if that's the actual title). I rock out to that one! :woohoo:

Hey everyone, hope you are all having a great day! I've been sort of in limbo since I won the biggest loser through DH's work, I need to get back to the business of losing weight.
Plans for this summer... Lots of walking!:thumbsup2 Actually this BL works very well, because it takes me right up to our vacation, we are going to DLR for the first time and we are going to see some other sights of California. Can't wait! I need to remember to focus and keep going so I can be happy with the way I look when we go.

My mini-goal is to hit all of my scheduled workouts. It's run 4 mi, walk 4mi, run 4mi, rest for the rest of May and the month of June (with excused days during our vacation). We'll see how that goes before I come up with July's goals.
That's a great workout schedule, Maria! :thumbsup2
We just got back from another 3.1 mile walk/jog and it seemed to be even tougher than yesterday, but we shaved 3 minutes off our time !!!
Nice job shaving that time yesterday, Jennifer!
Stopping my exercise last summer was my down fall, and I won't let that happen again. I also want to journal all my food when I am home. When I go away for a weekend, I won't journal, but will make healthy choices and drink my water.
I agree, Kathy, that exercise is the key. It is just so hard to do it -- I don't know why! :confused3
My mini-goal is a 'perfect' day on program (WW).
Sounds like with a little more planning you will be there! :cool1:
I guess my mini-goal is to be down 5-10 pounds by vacation, hopefuuly closer to down 10. I also want to get some type of workout in every day.
I know that you will figure out a way to make that work for you! :cheer2:
Today is my mom's birthday...we are taking her out to dinner but hopefully DH and I will split so I'll stay on track.
You did such a good job staying on track at WDW tonight will be a piece of cake (so to speak :rolleyes1). Actually you should have a little cake because I remember when your Mom was so very, very ill. You have to enjoy what you have now.
I started Jillian's Making the Cut workout program last week, along with a co-worker so a mini-goal is to survive it!
Welcome back and I am glad Making the Cut is working for you! :goodvibes
You may want to look at Making the Cut that Molli is doing. It is supposed to be for those last stubborn 10 pounds.

You've worked hard all year Vija and have done a great job so far. I think that is the finish line you see there in the distance.
A great big congratulations to BibbidyBobbidyBoo and all the other losers from the BL 7.1 challenge! Great job!
QOTD -- Now that the weather is warming up I am thinking of salads. Do you know a good recipe for low cal salad dressing?
I'm needing some help on this one which is why I asked the question. I have been using my regular Litehouse dressing and watching the serving size and tossing my salad really well. I hate to admit I love the creamy dressings and it is hard for me to switch . . . help!

QOTD -- Do you have mini-goals to help you meet you big goals for this challenge?
Well... not really, since I am hoping to be at my goal in less than a month (although I am struggling right now and I don't think I will make it). I am "unofficially" moving my date to meet goal to the end of July, since I don't think I will make my original mid-June goal, but I am STILL going to attempt to make it. I am aiming for 1-2 lb. per week right now. So I guess I will say that mini-goals are 1-2 lb a week, consistently for the summer.
Of course, when I reach my goal, I will have another on-going goal of STAYING at my goal weight!! .......................P

QOTD -- Now that the weather is warming up I am thinking of salads. Do you know a good recipe for low cal salad dressing?
I hate to cook, so I can't imagine going to the bother of making my own salad dressing, but I do have a few that are very good that I could suggest. Several of the Paul Newman's light dressings are very good, including the Roasted Garlic light vinagrette and the Sesame Ginger (my personal favorite). Bolthouse Farms makes some very good creamy yogurt dressings that aren't too high in fat/calories. They are found in the produce department.
I like a lot of dressing on my salad and I have found that I can "water down" several different dressings and still enjoy them. I water down the vinegrettes with more vinegar (either rice wine vinegar or balsamic vinegar) and I water down the more creamy dressing with just water. And then, if possible, I make sure I mix up my salad with the dressing on it really well (I put it in a Tupperware and shake it up if possible). That seems to distribute the dressing well and I can use less. ........................P

I e-mailed my initial weight (as of May 15th) to LuvBaloo this morning, so as I'm in the process of joining, I thought I'd chime in with my QOTD answer!
SALAD DRESSING:
I typically only like vinagrettes - to keep it super low cal, I have a little dish of the dressing, and just dip my fork in it. Then spear the salad and eat. You get a little flavor without drenching the salad. For at home, I just started making my own balsamic - it's just olive oil and balsamic vinegar - sometimes I add spices. The olive oil isn't low cal, but it's a healthy fat and I know exactly what ingredients I put in - no preservatives or added sodium.
My problem with salad is that I don't like it except at restaurants! I hardly ever buy lettuce or salad greens to make at home. That's the habit I need to get into more.

Welcome! And that's a good idea for handling salad dressing in restaurants. I always get it on the side in restaurants because so often they drown the salad.

Sorry, I have no salad dressing recipes, but I did buy a spray bottle of raspberry salad dressing. The raspberry taste is strong so only takes a little bit to get the flavour, and I think its 10 sprays for 10 calories, and the most I've used is 4.

I don't have a recipe for dressing, but I do have a favorite. I LOVE Trader Joe's fat free Balsamic Vinagrette. One serving is 1 point and 2 servings is 1 point. I like dressing on my salad and I love salads. This dressing has made giving up Ranch and 1000 Island much easier.

I officially PMd my weight to LuvBaloo and will be joining you all. It's going to be itneresting with moving and starting a new job.
I weigh in tomorrow and am just going to start over with Weight Watchers. I'm pretty much at the same weight I was when I started the BL 7 challenge back in January. :scared1: I realized that my problem was an all or nothing mind set. Instead of taking it in little steps I tried to fix everything at once and then if I made a mistake felt like a failure and called it quits.
My plan is to journal everything this week and get into the habit of it (not counting points). Next week I will start counting points for breakfast (still journalling everything) then breakfast and lunch, then everything. I figure if I tackle one thing at a time and work my way up I might have a better chance of success.

The Wii Fit seems harsh to me at times, too. I use my scale for my weigh ins and the Wii Fit to make sure the direction the scale goes in is the same on the Wii Fit. I always do my weigh ins first thing in the morning because I know that is my lightest weight all day.
I'd like to join in if you'll have me.

[COLOR="DeepSkyBlue"]!I don't make my own either, but I love ken's light sweet vidalia onion. It's pretty creamy, and only 80 cal for 2 tbsps. I put a little on sandwiches or burgers sometimes too. I haven't found a low fat ranch that I like. Ranch is my favorite.
The other one I ust tried was Cains fat free blush wine vinaigrette. It's very good for fat free.
I need to clean my house a little before work. My nephew is coming to babysit tonight while I go to an american idol party, and he's bringing his new girlfriend, so I can't leave the house in a shambles. We had a salad and a cup of soup while the others had larger meals...we both had a plenty and left full. They did bring out a bowl of ice cream with choc to celebrate, I had a couple of bites but can take or leave it so I was fine. DD baked a choc pound cake to take to her at work today...since it will not be cut until she gets there, I know that she won't be bringing any back home, so another positive there:thumbsup2.

QOTD -- What is your favorite ride at Magic Kingdom or Disneyland?
At the Magic Kingdom, I love Tomorrowland Transit Authority. It is so relaxing to ride and just check things out. It reminds me of the PeopleMover at Disneyland.
At Disneyland, it is a tie between Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion.

I have been meaning to check in on the thread but have just been avoiding it :rolleyes1 But I now have some time to myself to get started. Here's the answer to challenge 1:
Today's QOTD is a two part question. Tell us a little about yourself and your goals for this challenge.
My name is Keri, I just turned 30 and need to lose a whole bunch of weight. I have always been the chubby kid, yet throughout hs was active. I played both field hockey and soccer, but life after hs became much more sedintary. The weight started packing on. FF a few years and the weight has gone up and down. There are times where I am able to lose the 25+ pounds and start feeling really good abut my accomplishments, to only put it back on. FF again and I am the mom of 2 preschoolers trying to take off the weight and set a positive bpdy image. I know that I've already set the tone for negative body image and thye have picked up on it. From here Iwould like to work on correcting that by demonstarting a healthy life style and good food choices. I have a numebr that I would like to lose, but it is unrealistic at the moment. Therefore I would be happy with 10 pounds, and working on maintaining and losing more.

QOTD -- What is your favorite ride at Magic Kingdom or Disneyland?
Having grown up visiting DL I have numerous favorites. I really like their Pirates and Haunted Mansion. Plus Indy is also great as is Toad. But perhaps it is the Matterhorn that takes the cake. However due to the weather I am really itching for Grizzly River Rapids, lol.
At the MK i think that I prefer Splash Mountain. It has a few scenes that are different/additional than DL version. Plus the MK still has Countyr Bears and it's version of the Tiki Room is much more lively.

Morning folks! Hope everyone is fine this morning! I didn't get in my exercise this morning.... I stayed up too late watching Dancing With The Stars... and I still fell asleep and didn't see the ending until this morning (on the DVR)! But I will have time to workout tonight so no problem.
I've not eaten particularly well over the last few days... not sure what my problem is. I haven't had this "feeling" of not really caring for a long time and it is kind of scary. But I think I am back "in the game" today. I had a good healthy protein-rich breakfast and I packed a nice salad for lunch. The treats that were calling my name at home are gone, so hopefully today will be a good day eating-wise.
Glad to see so many new folks joining up here! It will be nice to have some new insight, new ideas, and new perspective on this whole "healthy eating" thing! ........................P

QOTD -- What is your favorite ride at Magic Kingdom or Disneyland?
Really tough question! My first response, however, is to say "Soarin". I love the music, the feeling of the wind, the smells, and the scenery. Close second would be Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, California Screamin' (at CA), Rockin' Rollercoaster OH HECK! I can't decide! I'll stick with my original answer, but truly I don't have just one favorite................P

QOTD -- What is your favorite ride at Magic Kingdom or Disneyland?
Space Mountain. I have a long history with Space Mountain. Do you remember the RCA dog that used to be in the lobby? When I was ten my grandma & me & my sister rode Space Mt. like 20 times in a row and we just kept running around & around past the dog & through all the tunnels. It is my happiest memory of her ever (she passed away 17 years ago.)
Now that I have kids of my own, Space Mt. is our tradition to pass over into BIG KIDhood. When you are a big kid, you have to start your roller coaster future on Space Mt. This year was my nephew's turn. I actually cried a bit when he got on. So definitely Space Mt. My baby is 2 so she has a few more years and then off to Magic Kingdom to start her BIG KID years.

I love BTMR! Especially at DL when it is night time and Fantasmic is on or the fireworks are going off! Magical!
I have done well this week...have my WW meeting tonight...my first weigh in since my enrollment. I also worked out with my DH last night at the gym. It was nice being there with him but I had no idea in how much better shape he is than me and how much he has improved in the past 2 months! I am so proud of him! :lovestruc:worship: My arms are sore but not killing me and my legs don't hurt too bad from the precor machine. I may even go in for some cardio tonight since my mom has the kids.

I've found the WiiFit great for weighing in first thing in the morning, but in the evening, there can be so many body weight changes based on what you ate or drank, it can be crazy. If I work out shortly after supper, I've seen 2 lb weight losses from the start to the end of the workout. :lmao:
Its great to see more people joining up! I think I've gotten everybody's starting weights in (or missing just 1) which is great!:thumbsup2 Only 2 more days until weigh in, and I need to get my butt in gear and do some exercising. I had great intentions to wake up early today and try exercising in the morning, but couldn't get to sleep until 1:30 last night, so did not want to get out of bed early this morning. I think tonight I'll tell the kids I need to exercise and then they'll remind me after supper. At 7 & 4, they are quite happy to tell me what to do ;):lmao:
QOTD -- What is your favorite ride at Magic Kingdom or Disneyland?
In Magic Kingdom, I love Mickey's Philharmagic
In Disneyland, its really hard to narrow it down to just one. I really like Splash Mountain, but also love Small World. And of course BTMR is another favourite (my oldest DD could never remember the proper name so its "crazy train ride" :rotfl:) and the Buzz Lightyear one (youngest DD kept mispronoucing it, so its now called Buzz Lightbeer :rotfl:)

Then I am going to really make sure that I stay on track and don't use being tired as an excuse to do something that I shouldn't food choice wise.
Have a great day!
Hope you're having a good day Lisa. Why can't we just eat when we are hungry?!? It would make life so easy. I definitely do more mindless eating when I am tired. We can beat it this time. Only eat when hungry! Hope you get a good night's sleep tonight.
I love this question of the day, but I have a hard time picking just one. I think I would have to say splash mountain, but I also love Buzz, and peter pan. I just love them all. These questions bring up so many great memories.
I love reading about everyone's fav rides, and a big welcome to our newcomers. This is going to be a great, losing summer for us all.:cheer2:

We finalized the yearbook and finally got everything submitted so once DS gets finished with his math on the computer I'll be on the phone with tech support for a while:scared1:.
Good luck with your yearbook project -- it sounds like a big job!
I am the mom of 2 preschoolers trying to take off the weight and set a positive bpdy image.
That's the nice thing about having preschoolers, you will find as they get older that they don't rememeber as much as you were afraid they would! Then again, sometimes they will surprise you about what they do remember . . . :rotfl: Sounds like you have a good plan!
[COLOR="Purple"]OH HECK! I can't decide! I'll stick with my original answer, but truly I don't have just one favorite................P
Yes, it is hard to choose when there are so many fun things to choose from!
That's a great family tradition!
So far so good today. :cool1:
Just taking it one step at a time and trying to take all the steps I can to burn calories.
Every bit helps!
Have a great day everyone and drink that water....yes I mean you! Go on, chug, chug, chug!:thumbsup2 Good job!
Sarah, you are going to love it when the COW (challenge of the week) starts up soon!
At 7 & 4, they are quite happy to tell me what to do ;):lmao:
My favorite is when they use your own words to nag you!
I am determined that this is my summer! :woohoo:
Are we going to have a logo for the Summer Challenge? I do not have the creativity or capacity to make one, just curious if anyone who does was thinking about it...
Maria :upsidedow
I am so impressed with how you are doing with your walking/running!
We do have someone working on a logo for the Summer Challenge and hopefully it will be done soon.
This is going to be a great, losing summer for us all.:cheer2:
Yes it is!
Thanks for your good thoughts, Kathy. I am hanging in there. So far I am right on track with food today and I am going to keep it that way! Overeating will not help me feel rested and will just give me something else to fret about if I wake up in the middle of the night again. I am determined not to do that to myself.
Enjoy your day everyone!

QOTD -- What is your favorite ride at Magic Kingdom or Disneyland?
Ok, so my favorite ride at MK has to be Big Thunder Mountain Railroad followed closely by It's a Small World and the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse.
The weather is nice here today. I feel like mother nature is toying with me again, we'll get a couple of nice days then it'll get cold and rain for a couple of days. I guess I should enjoy it while I can.

Yes, it is so hard when so many pets need good homes. I will try and take a picture of the Whitewater Snacks kitty for you when I am at DL in June -- I know she is a favorite of yours!
She's a little rock star that kitty is ;-) Just ask people around there if she's around--she's there a lot, but the earlier you get there the better because after someone feeds her she disappears lol.
I see we have a lot of people in this group--that's great!

Congratulations BBB :) Woo hoo - Congrat's to the other BL's too !!!
QOTD -- Now that the weather is warming up I am thinking of salads. Do you know a good recipe for low cal salad dressing?
At home the only kind of dressing I use is a homemade Balsamic olive oil dressing. I use 2 parts balasmic vinegar to 1 part olive oil. Usually I use 1 tbsp olive oil and 2 tbsp (sometimes 3 tbsp) balsamic. Mostly I eat it plain like this, but will occasionally add spices and sometimes a shake of sea salt - but usually its plain. I also only use organic olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
Also - organic Feta and raw organic sunflower seeds are some of my must have's on my salads.

QOTD -- What is your favorite ride at Magic Kingdom or Disneyland?
DL - Matterhorn because I can't ride it here and it reminds me of being when I was a kid.
MK- Space Mtn & Splash Mountain - I can't pick one over the other, lol.

QOTD -- What is your favorite ride at Magic Kingdom or Disneyland?
:confused3 So hard to decide!
MK - Jungle Cruise if we have a good guide, Buzz if I get a good score, also love Space Mtn (& Rock n Roller Coaster, if I'm going outside MK).
DL - Indiana Jones, hands down.
I realize I probably should back up and answer the first QOTD - about me & my goals.
I'm 27, married & have a DD who will be 2 in July. I used to be a singer/dancer, which seems like a lifetime ago now. The point being that I was really fit during my teens and early 20s. A few years ago I took a FT desk job - less working out and added 15 pounds and outgrew my clothes. After giving birth to DD, I was pretty proud of myself for shedding the baby weight with just a little effort. I lost the prego pounds, but "Hmm...I still don't fit into any of my pre-pregnancy clothes, much less my old cute clothes..." After seeing this past holiday's photos, I saw that I was bigger than I imagined and knew I had to get back to the gym. So I've been working out 3-5 times a week since middle of January...and I've lost 2 pounds. Beyond frustrating. I've been wishing I could go on the Biggest Loser, even though I don't have that many pounds to lose. So, this is the next best thing! Less than 2 wks ago I joined Livestrong.com to track all my calories & exercise. Turns out, my food was the problem. I really resisted doing the counting calories, but it's been so empowering!
My main goal is to fit into my closet full of "thinner me" clothes. I almost don't care about the number on the scale if I can just get into my cute capris again! My mini goals are to stay on track with my calories and be able to jog 1 full mile (jogging 4 minutes at a time is my record).

QOTD -- What is your favorite ride at Magic Kingdom or Disneyland?
MK - I love Pirates...it's also a great place to go cool down and rest for a few minutes;).
Not a lot of time to spend on the boards this morning. We have homeschool conference this weekend, I missed out on getting a room but at the last minute someone cancelled so I was able to snag one. I would much rather do that then drive back and forth all three days or try to cram it all in during one day. So, I'm heading off in just a few with DD then tomorrow afternoon DH and DS will join us.
I ended up not being on the phone with tech support too long yesterday and they had my laptop back up and running, have to say it was one of those unexpected quick fixes.
I did my WI this morning since I won't be back until late Saturday...I was down .5 this morning. My plan for the weekend is to drink lots of water and try to eat lots of salads and stay away from the fast food type things.
Have a great weekend everyone. I'm still not sure if I'm taking the laptop with me so if I'm not on checking in I'll be thinking about you all. Make today a great one for a great WI tomorrow!!:cheer2:

Wow - I'm way behind. My FIL was visiting over the weekend and into the week and I started a post to this thread but apparently it never got finished or posted! As a result, I haven't even been subscribed to the right BL thread!
About me: I'm a 35 year old at-home mom of 2 boys ages 10 and 6, also married to my high school sweetheart (there are a few of us on this thread who did that!!). We also have some cats and a boisterous young Lab Mix dog who is just about to turn 2, thank goodness!
I am definitely excited for the new challenge. I have gained and lost weight so many times, it's almost not even worth going over all of it again. "Trying to eat less and exercise more" does not work for me - I need a more structured plan, and I am a remedial Weight Watchers user. This time it's no meetings, online tools, an online buddy and BL weigh in day, which helps immensely.
I am another Disney inspired endurance type person. In early 2007, I was depressed and overweight, but I decided I really wanted to run the 2009 half marathon and began the C25K training program. It was an adventure, but I ended up traveling to the 2009 half all on my own (a first) and finishing in spite of a concussion I'd acquired in October, forcing me to lose a month of training (to avoid reinjury through repeated impact - for a while there, running made symptoms worse) and once more, I lost focus in the food department. I ended up doing the Half at my heaviest weight in a long time. I finished, but it was slower than I had hoped for before the injury.
I am also getting to be a fan of Tosca Reno's clean eating recipes, and fully agree with her breakdown that weight loss is 80% food, 10% training and 10% genes. I can overeat ANY amount of working out if I'm not paying attention to what I'm doing. Which is why I do the best when I track my food on the WW website most of the time.
I am so grateful there is a summer challenge - I really do appreciate having a responsibility to send my weight. I think it's actually better than standing on the scale at a meeting!
QOTD -- What is your favorite ride at Magic Kingdom or Disneyland?
Haunted Mansion because the whole family can ride it, even with a concussion (I had to skip all the roller coasters on our Thanksgiving trip last year!!) the theme song, and all the details - you can notice something different every time, even after LOTS of rides. Pirates is a close second.

It is great to see so many of us -- we are going to have a great losing summer!
[COLOR="Blue"]DL - Matterhorn because I can't ride it here and it reminds me of being when I was a kid.
I remember being scared of the Matterhorn when I was a kid -- and that was way before the addition of the abominable snowman in 1978!
Turns out, my food was the problem. I really resisted doing the counting calories, but it's been so empowering!
Sounds like a great plan! It is amazing how much we underestimate calories and overestimate the effects of exercise until we start tracking them.
My plan for the weekend is to drink lots of water and try to eat lots of salads and stay away from the fast food type things.
Good plan! And have a safe trip and a great week-end!

This is such a great goal. I find that scale can play such a head game with me sometimes, if I try not to think about the number, but think how much better I feel when I'm eating healthy and exercising, I feel so much better. You can do it!!
I did my WI this morning since I won't be back until late Saturday...I was down .5 this morning. My plan for the weekend is to drink lots of water and try to eat lots of salads and stay away from the fast food type things.
:Congrats on your loss!! Have a great weekend. You have a good plan for success.

I hadn't seen those percentages before, but it makes sense. I can follow ww and stay within my points and exercise, but if I'm not watching the healthy guidelines, I don't see a loss. I need to track too. It's just too easy to lose track of how much I eat if I'm not writing it down.
Congrats on doing the half marathon. I am in awe those who run half marathons and marathons. Such a wonderful accomplishment.
Today is a beautiful day and it's going to hit 90 degrees here. I only work 10-2 today, then my son has an md appt, but after that we're going to pack a healthy supper and head to the beach for dinner. I was successful at the party last night, had only one beer, and some chips and salsa that I accounted for. Just went to the store, and picked up lots of healthy food for camping this weekend. Got the smore's fixings too, but I will control myself.
Hope you all have a good day.

I've never been to DL, and I don't think I can pick just one ride at MK... I love Pirates and Buzz Lightyear. My favorite ride at WDW though, is a tie between Everest and Soarin.
I went out to dinner with a friend last night and I didn't do the greatest with food choices :sad2: but we agreed to start working out together a couple times a week:) which is awesome because I never have the motivation to get to the gym by myself!

Good morning, losers!
Hope that everyone is having a great OP day and getting ready for our first weigh in tomorrow. :goodvibes
I thought of our little group when I was received this email from SparkPeople that includes a link to a healthy lifestyle scale. You plug in your water and food intake, your exercise time and it will rate how healthy you were any day. Here is the link http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/healthy_lifestyle_scale.asp
You may have to register to use it but they don't flood you with spam.
This is a nice way to measure your sucess in another way besides the scale.
So, the QOTD is how healthy are you going to be today?
I am hoping for a very healthy day today. I've done my exercise and have my meals planned out.
Hope that you all have a healthy day today, too!

Great qotd. I'm glad I read it before I go to work, gives me an extra boost to eat healthy. I'm going to be very healthy! I did my exercise too, ate a good breakfast, and have healthy lunch and dinner planned. The day before weighin, I always do the best with water too. I think it helps flush out your system. So, the QOTD is how healthy are you going to be today?
I'm going to aim for a moderately healthy day. I've already exercised and will be taking the kids to the park later, so I will be away from the fridge for a few hours. Dinner is already planned (I do a weekly menu) and I want to make more fruit filled jello. And no it's not sugar free. We only had SF in our house growing up so I tend to find it to be yucky. As for my water, not a problem. I'll be bringing my Nalgene bottle with me, and as usual it's a part of my daily routine.

So, the QOTD is how healthy are you going to be today?
I'm going to sushi for lunch, but I have my entire day planned out and the calories will still work. Planning is the only way to keep the calories on track since lunch is higher with going out.
Last night I made some hummus and I had that and some whole wheat crackers (only ingredients are 100% whole wheat and salt) for breakfast. It was yummy and different for a change. Tonight I threw some Chili in the crockpot, so dinner is ready when I get home and it's not high in calories so it's a great filling low calorie way to end the day.
I've been doing so good all week. My range of calories is 1200-1550, and I've even had a few 2 mile walks this week. Well early in the week my scale went down a pound and then yesterday and today the scale is back up to where I was last week. I'm sort of nervous I'm not going to be able to pull out a loss this week, even though I've done better this week than any week in the past few months. I'm hoping I have a big Whoosh tonight, but I'm a tad bit scared about the Sushi I'm about to have. I need to watch the soy sauce at lunch todya.
I'm actually wondering if my body stopped moving, even jumping back up a pound since I've stayed pretty steady this week with calories. Here are my calories for the week. My sodium intakes before today were between 867-2847 (today will be highets at 3024 - plus whatever I dip in soy sauce).
Anyone have any ideas why my body would be holding on to this weight. I really expected a big whoosh and instead its holding steady at last weeks weight.
Friday - 1438
Saturday-1336
Sunday - 1263
Monday - 1248
Tuesday -1184
Wednesday-1428
Thursday - today will end up being 1288
These are my sodium levels this week:
1,293 2,527 2,847 2,042, 867, 1,524 3,024

Good morning. Today I am going to have a moderately healthy day. I am drinking my water and have packed fruit for my snacks today. I may get a subway sandwich for lunch even though I packed a PB & J. I don't know if I will get a chance to work out or not. I won't get to the gym as I don't have anyone to watch the kids, but I may get a chance to do a work out video.

So, the QOTD is how healthy are you going to be today?
Well, considering it is the last day before weigh-in and I haven't been exactly great this week, I am going to be VERY healthy today!!:rotfl:
I was out of eggs, so I didn't have a very protein rich/low carb breakfast (which I have been trying to change to), but overall I've done well.
Breakfast was a 90 calorie/high fiber cinnamon raisin english muffin. One half I ate plain, the other half I topped with 1 Tb. of my peanut butter/tofu spread (which is way yummier than it sounds). I also had a cup of my one hold-out aspartame food (General Foods French Vanilla Cafe, caffeine free/sugar free).
I had 24 oz. of water before lunch. Lunch here at work was 1/2 C lowfat cottage cheese topped with 1/4 C crushed pineapple with a small homemade fruit cup for dessert (pineapple, watermelon, banana). I started my second 24 oz. of water with lunch.
Not sure what afternoon snack and dinner are going to be. I did a 25 minute workout this morning before it got hot. I MAY walk in about an hour when my students go to gym, but it is getting HOT and I don't want to come back to school all sweaty. DD is supposed to go to swim team practice tonight, so if I don't walk this afternoon I may be able to hit the gym at the Y later.
I'll check back later to see what everyone else is doing to be extra healthy today!..................P

Hello Everyone!
I just found the WISH board (thanks to a poster on the podcast board!) and joined in too. Awesome idea! I'll start with anwering the QOTD's already asked.
I'm Bonnie, I'm 36...married for 10 years with one 3 year old son. I'm a librarian and I sit on my butt far too long during the day which isn't helping matters. I need to lose the pregnancy fat which has been clinging for 3 years:eek:
My goal is lose 20 lbs by the end of summer and another 20 by the end of the year then to maintain that!
Favorite Disneyland/MK ride:
OK, I'm on the west coast so DL is my home park. Fave ride is Indiana Jones and "its a small world."
At MK my fave is Splash Mountain, it's a better version then the DL one is.
As for today's question...well I had a high fiber english muffin with reduced sugar jam for breakfast, it's not lunch time yet but I have a half of sandwich and some low fat cottage cheese. I really need to drink more water and hopefully will go for my walk today and workout at home.
Thanks everyone! I'm looking forward to getting to know you all!

Good Afternoon!!!
So, the QOTD is how healthy are you going to be today?
Today, so far...I have been moderately healthy. I haven't gotten in as much water as I should have, but I will improve that this afternoon.
I fed and watered the farm animals (worked up a MAJOR sweat), but will definitely do a true workout later tonight.
I'm babysitting the 1 year old next door today for 9 hours :scared1:Does this count :rotfl2:.
Tomorrow I will have my 2 nephews (ages 2 and 4 months and the girl next door). Thats 3 in diapers!!!
Sorry got off on a tangent there. I'm happy with my eating and activity so far, but need to push the water now. Thanks to the QOTD I will make it happen.
I keep thinking about our 2 family trips this year. One is Dollywood next month with DH's family and the other is to DW in Nov/Dec with my DB. I just don't want to be exhausted and all sweaty walking around. I don't want to have to worry about fitting into the rides. I must be strong and make this change to a healthier me. What I'm doing isn't fair to myself or my family.

Back from my lunch to Sushi, and I ordered my normal items where I know the calories. One of the girls from our group lunch is going back to Seattle with her boss who is starting up another company and one of the other's just told me that she is going to another company to be the COO. We know the owner and the people that work there really well because we go so often. The girl who is going to be a COO worked with the chef and nothing that we ordered came out. We had course after course of yummy food.
It started with salad with ginger dressing, a seaweed salad to share and a squid salad to share. Then we got a miso type soup with mushrooms. Then there was an oyster shot, and a tray of raw scallops. Then we had a tuna sundae to share. Then we each got a sushi platter, with striped bass, tuna, salmon, hamachi and Australian hamachi. Then he brought out a roll to share - not sure what kind this was. Then we got a kale juice we make (we always get this when we go) -its in a shot glass. And then we had our usual fried banana (just a tiny small piece) with honey and a green tea dessert that was split into 4. I'm so stuffed- it took us over 2 hours to eat this.
Now I gotta try to break the calories down on this. Luckily a lot of it was just a bit here or there of the stuff we shared.

She's a very pretty little calico that hangs out at a restaurant located near the entrance to California Adventures at the Grand Californian hotel. Disneyland has a lot of ferals that they take care of, legend has it they were brought in years ago to help control the mouse population (lol) and ended up living in Sleeping Beauty's castle. Many were found when they went to open it up again some time back. Some have figured out they can get great food from people at restaurants and are actually quite friendly, most you don't see--they are nocturnal. You can see some of the housing Disney has set up around the parks for them, I saw the houses behind the Hungry Bear from the train, and some to the side and back of the zephyr ice cream place in CA.
You can see a picture of the Whitewater snacks kitty in my trip report if you want--just click on the link in my sig.
Salad dressing-- I've never made it. I like a salad at Costco we get though every time we are there. We end up eating the whole bag every time--it's got a low cal ceasar salad dressing and some crackers and really thin sliced cheese-- y'know the kind you put in ceasar salad-- having a senior moment...anyway it's really good.

Well, the boss has a cold, so I didn't want to go to lunch with him! :lmao:Got my 6 point double meat subway and have 2 points of pretzels for a little later this afternoon. Tonight I can hit the grocery and get some REAL supplies.

I'm not going to catch up on all the QOTD, but I missed a lot of these in my previous intro.
Today's QOTD is a two part question. Tell us a little about yourself and your goals for this challenge.
I am so close to having lost 25 pounds since I started in January, I can taste it. Hopefully tomorrow is the day I get to change my clippie!
My goals for this challenge - I have been averaging about a pound a week (some weeks more, some weeks nothing! ha ha! But averaging.) and want to continue on that same path. Between starting weigh in and August 17, I hope to lose: 13 pounds. Talk about your odd numbers!
I am starting a program to be able to do 100 push ups, as well. I would like to build up my strength and tone my arms and shoulders. I also need to crank my mileage up. I hope to do a 10 mile road race on 4th of July and thinking strongly of the DL Half in August!!
QOTD -- What are your plans for the summer? How will your plans help or hinder your goals for this challenge?
Summer is always difficult because I spend an extended period of time with my in-laws in the summer. They like to eat out a LOT, my SIL always has donuts on her kitchen counter, and I would be lying if I said they didn't stress me out a little just being who they are. And as ever, any change in routine can throw me off. I have slipped and fallen more than once in the summer, so I am going to work extra hard this year to continue my healthy habits and choices.

QOTD - How healthy...today?
I'm really striving for a loss on the first weigh in, so I'm being super good today. I actually did pretty well all week. Here's hoping the scale reflects my efforts! I'm going to do my own "last chance workout" tonight - the BL Bootcamp DVD. Only question mark today is dinner. No idea what we're having! Maybe sandwiches, plus fruit and veggie.

I am trying to break the Mountain Dew habit. I did NOT crack open a can yesterday and this morning I had a bad headache.
Anyway, I was outside working on cleaning out the pool, sweating my butt off (I hope :lmao:), I came inside for a break dying for a Dew. BUT I grabbed a bottle of water instead. :cool1::thumbsup2:thumbsup2
Just had to share my moment. FYI Pools that have not been covered over the winter are SUPER YUCKY!!!

MelanieC - the only thing that I noticed is your daily intake is quite consistent, perhaps mixing up your daily calories to have some higher days, might help?
Good morning. Today I am going to have a moderately healthy day. I am drinking my water and have packed fruit for my snacks today. I may get a subway sandwich for lunch even though I packed a PB & J. I don't know if I will get a chance to work out or not. I won't get to the gym as I don't have anyone to watch the kids, but I may get a chance to do a work out video.
Good luck everyone...and we pm our weights tomorrow?

I've already exercised and will be taking the kids to the park later, so I will be away from the fridge for a few hours. Dinner is already planned (I do a weekly menu) and I want to make more fruit filled jello. And no it's not sugar free. We only had SF in our house growing up so I tend to find it to be yucky. As for my water, not a problem. I'll be bringing my Nalgene bottle with me, and as usual it's a part of my daily routine.
Sounds like a great start!
I have to take EXTRA steps to have a healthy day today because . . .
I think that you came up with a great plan in spite of those obstacles -- good job. :goodvibes
Plan is to be healthy today. I'm -3 points for the week with WW, so I need to stay on target today and do at least 20min of stepping tonight to end up okay for the week. Tomorrow is a fresh start.
Sounds good! It sounds like you will have a lot of super results in your PM inbox tomorrow. :cool1:
I've been doing so good all week.

Well, considering it is the last day before weigh-in and I haven't been exactly great this week, I am going to be VERY healthy today!!:rotfl:
It sounds like everyone is being very healthy today for that last push before first weigh-in. ;)
Hello Everyone! I just found the WISH board (thanks to a poster on the podcast board!) and joined in too.
Thanks everyone! I'm looking forward to getting to know you all!
Welcome, dizneedoll! This is a great group of people and I think that you will have a wonderful losing summer. :cheer2:

Hi, I'm joining up! I did the BL7 challenge in Jan/Feb and lost about 12-14 pounds, and have since gained back every bit of it! I started back to WW last night (It's been a couple years), and I'm want to take the weight off and keep it off! I got the new Wii Active and after 3 days of using it I feel like I'm going to die!

That is what I'm thinking too. It's the only thing that makes sense. I think since I have the wedding this weekend and I know my calories are higher my mindset was to be good all last weekend and all this week. It might have backfired on me. I ended today around 1422. I'm tempted to have a snack now - but it's after 9pm already and should probably just wait till tomorrow. I'm going to Thai tomorrow, so my calories should be a higher tomorrow - and well I have no idea what they are having to eat at the Wedding. We are also going up tomorrow night to stay at one of my BIL's houses.
I guess I just have to hope that whatever I should have lost this week comes off next week and I have a big week then. Or maybe I'll get lucky for tomorrow, but where I'm at right now - I don't think it's going to go whoosh by tomorrow morning - especially since I had sushi today.

Today was an ok day. I didn't drink as much water as I had hoped, but I drank a bunch. I also watched what I ate throughout today. While I did have a burger and shake this afternoon after our playdate in the hot sun, I ate reasonably the remainder of the day. At dinner I even made a salad :scared1: I know! DH really enjoyed it. Here's to hoping that I either lost today or remain the same.

Good Friday Morning here on the east coast. It is a lovely day here in jersey. Sunny skies and temps in the 80's. Possible storms on Sat and Sun
THe time has come for the first COW
COW 1
THis week's COW starts on today 5/22/09 and will run until midnight Thursday 5/28/09. It will be an easy COW since we are all just getting started.
YOu get 1 point for each day you follow the COW
This week will start easy
Drink 8 glasses of water (1 point for each day)
Eat 2 servings of veggies (1 point for each day)
East 2 pieces of fruit (1 point for each day)
On Friday send me
XX days drinking water
XX days eating 2 serving of veggies
XX days eating 2 pieces of fruit.
Thanks and enjoy the COW
Do you do not have to do the entire COW. You can do bits and pieces of it that work into your plan. It is just there to motivate you and to help you think about developing new habits. THis will be a progressive thing. As the weeks go on I will be adding to these new habits. For next week you might want to find or get a pedometer, it might come in handy.
HAve fun with this.
This has been a crazy week. Wed night the local high school (not the one I teach at) won an local award for their costumes from their spring musical. It was ggreat to see the costume designer win after not winning last year for Beauty and the Beast. He got back to his seat and turned to me and said "I forgot to say your name" But he had mentioned all the incredible moms who help him and I know I was in there. Next month we are up for a state award for the same thing and my name is on the nomination for all that I have done for him.:banana: We won't win but it was nice to see my name on the nomination.
I also am pretty sure that I will be having foot surgery 2 days after school lets out. They called me about having done Jun 5th but that would mean I would miss the end of school and the award show that I mentioned above. I was more worried about the awards show but I would also hate to miss graduation. (I have been to as many as 4 graduations in one season)
I am the same as last week which is okay since it was such a crazy week. Hope everyone else is a loser.
I also got to see the new Star Trek movie last night. If anyone was a trekkie fan from the past you need to see it. It was a lot of fun and full of action.

Not much time again this morning but want to pop in and try to stay caught up on the posts. I love how busy our thread is:cool1:.
I didn't do the greatest in way of eating yesterday but it could have been a lot worse...I ate 1/2 of my sandwich at lunch but had a few fried green beans (there is this one locally owned deli that we eat at while at convention and it is always great). For dinner, I ended up eating pizza but only had a piece and didn't snack any the rest of the day. I drank lots of water and on top of lots of walking around the bookfair, we walked to our meals and stores yesterday once we parked the car, we didn't get back in it.
Today is a new day...I'm going to have a good healthy breakfast and have a salad for lunch today no matter how tempting the other stuff seems. At dinner we'll split a meal so no problem there.
I'm going to keep the water bottle filled today and drink lots. If I'm making a lot of stops at the bathroom, I'll know I'm doing my job:thumbsup2.
I hope everyone has a great day. Stay on track and let's have a great WI this week.

Happy weighin day fellow losers!! Hope everyone has a great day and good weighin. If it's not a good week for you, that's ok, just start fresh with a new day, and next week will be better.
I am happy to be down 1.6 pounds. I went to the beach last night with a picnic supper, and only brought healthy foods- fruit yogurt, turkey and cheese, and I did not miss the cookies and goldfish that usually accompany us to the beach one bit. My son didn't either. He loves fruit and we had strawberries and cantaloupe, so he was thrilled. I'm off to work early today, so I'll be back in tonight to catch up on everyones weighins. Good luck to all!!

Good Morning all! Sorry I didn't get on here earlier... it was a busy morning!
I have been selected the "Coach" this week. I look forward to sharing my thoughts and ideas and hearing yours.
I am pleasantly surprised to be able to report that I am down 1.8 this morning. It kind of ties in with my theory that maybe I haven't been eating ENOUGH lately. I had a couple of big meals last weekend that effectively used up all of my 35 flex points for the week, most of which I RARELY use. Maybe I need to think about using them more often.
Anyhow.... I will start off my week with this Question Of The Day.
What is your favorite physical attribute (on yourself)? Maybe you have great eyes, or perfect teeth. What is it about yourself that you really like right now? (Not in 10 pounds or whatever.)I don't tend to think about myself in a very positive tone, as I suspect most people with weight problem would agree to, so I had to really think about this. I eliminated several things (I have nice hair, but I don't like the gray, I have nice long thin fingers, but my hands are showing their age lately). I think I will go with my LEGS. I don't tend to hold onto too much weight in my thighs, I don't have any varicose veins (thank goodness that gene didn't get passed), and I only have one tiny spider vein behind my knee. I have nice small ankles and since I am blonde my legs never look too hairy!:rotfl:
So there you have it.... that is my favorite physical attribute. How about you?
For those of you who don't really know me, I'll give you a quick intro. My name is Pamela (NOT Jill). I am almost 45 years old :scared1: and I am happily married for 17 years. I have an almost 14 y/o DD and an 11 1/2 y/o DS.
I have struggled with my weight since I was an early teen. I lost weight in early high school and kept it off through high school and college. I was slightly overweight when I met DH, but for the 4 years before we were engaged I gained more. I lost it before we got married but rapidly regained it after the big event. I have bounced around several times since 1992 with my weight but never managed to quite hit my goal or to keep the weight off. This time I AM DOING IT!! I am currently 9.2 lbs away from my goal weight. The last time I was this thin was probably a few months before my wedding. Sometimes I can't believe how slim I am, but other times I can't believe I ONLY have 10 pounds left.
Most all of my weight loss over the years has been done with Weight Watchers, but I did try a brief stint with Jenny Craig in 1995 (through a friend who worked for them) and I made a few weeks attempt at Atkins, but it was NOT for me.
Anyhow.... here come my students, so I have to run. I'll be back later to see how everyone is doing........................P

Glad your going to be cheering us on this week :)
You know when I was a weight watcher I SWORE by eating all my extra flex points each week, but my biggest key was varying my points each day by using those flex points. So a few days a week, especially near WI, I'd have a low points day - at actual point goal. Then I'd have a few HIGH point days where I'd go well above my regular points and then I'd have some mid range point days to fill in the week. I think your body definately needs the "guessing" and I was BIG on this. There is this girl at work who you can't tell her anythin because it's only her way. But she is on maintenance and eats the same amount of points as when she was losing. Yep - she thinks I'm crazy when I tell her she should have been eating high points to lose weight in the first place and then on maintenance it's the time to test yourself and work on slowly ramping up your points till you get them as high as possible - still varying them, but just eating more so you maintain. It seems silly to me that she is still "dieting" when she is on maintenance. She said she tried my advice once and gained weight and never again. I tried to no avail to tell her that yes, her body is going to respond at first by gaining some water when you increase points - which is why you do it slowly adding a few each week and adjusting. If it's done slowly and you let your body level out before you freak out with a water gain - it will level back off once it adjusts to your new point range. I lost my original weight eating all my flex points plus all my exercise points. Maybe I lost a little slower, but my body learned to burn the calories off while I got to eat more.
This same lesson applies to calories - which I do now and love.
Also - I think this is exactly why I haven't lost weight this week. I squeaked a .2 loss out this week and I felt I had done very stellar. I lost 1 pound last week and I had 2 very high days one being over 3000 pounds (yep - yikes)! But I lost 1 pound. This week my calories were on the low side from Fri-Fri. My highest day was yesterday at a little over 1600. At one point this week I had lost a pound - yep the scale was showing a loss, I was on a roll and I really thought I was going to wake up a few days from then and see maybe 164 or dare I dream for 163. Well the next day I woke up to more than I was last Friday, and the same the next day. I really was worried that if I was showing these numbers on Thursday I wasn't going to have a loss. Lisa reminded me that I probably haven't varied my calories enough. I suspected that, but with my wedding tomorrow I really thought being completely low till that date would help me out. WRONG. All I did was hold on to the weight. So I decided to go ahead and have the snack last night late because I was starving - had a light dinner at 5:30p, so by 9:30pm my stomach was singing. Today I'm having Thai - but it's all planned out. Its a heavy lunch so that is my big meal for the day. I had hummus and crackers from breakfast - still full from that. I'll probably have more hummus and crackers because I need to eat the hummus I made earlier this week and it's almost gone. Tomorrow I have no idea at all how it will go.
But my plan for this week is to have a low day on Sunday and Monday since I'll have had 3 higher days in a row. Have a medium day on Tuesday and then Wednesday and Thursday 2 more low days. That should leave my body guessing and I've got a good feeling that next week I'll see that loss I expected this week :)
I guess I feel the pressure of 70 something days till Disney and knowing that NONE of my shorts fit. I am not buying new ones, so this is my only hope. I feel I have the drive and determination now, so that isn't the problem. It's just getting my body to respond. Also - I know I've got to get my lazy butt up and exercise. This is what is going to make the difference. I know it - but knowing it and doing it are two different things.
I'm going to committ to exercise on Sunday and Monday and no excuses. -can't tonight or tomorrow because of the wedding and being out of town.
Hope everyone has a stellar week!! OMG this got long. And I really am happy that I have a loss :)

Hi everyone! Just found this thread and joined. Thanks to everyone for organizing this. My name is Michele and I'm an engineer in Illinois. I've been married almost 18 years and have 3 boys 12, 14, and 16. I joined BL 7 and won it! It is the reason I stuck with it and this week I reached 50 pounds lost. I'm so excited! My goal is 35 more and then see what I think. We are headed back to WDW in July for a diabetes conference. I'd like to be down 13 more by that trip. I managed to pretty much maintain on my April trip so hopefully I'll be able to do it again.

I'm really happy with my weigh-in. I did so well on my calories and work outs this week, and feel so rewarded to see the lower number on the scale. Lost 2.2 pounds this week! Finally! After 3 months of working out and losing only 2 or 3 pounds that whole time...now I've started tracking calories and it's been the key.
Looking forward to this week!
Congrats to everyone on Week 1!

I was down 2 pounds this week and as happy as can be. I think the big challenge will be staying on track over the holiday week-end. I don't have anything bad to eat in the house and need to keep it that way!
What is your favorite physical attribute (on yourself)? Maybe you have great eyes, or perfect teeth. What is it about yourself that you really like right now?
These questions are always hard because it is easier to find a big long list of things I don't like about myself than it is to find something I do like. Why are we so hard on ourselves? :confused3 Anyways, I have to say that I like my eyes. They are big and blue and have very long lashes.
Welcome DisneyFam5!

Probably my eye lashes. I have super long eyelashes that I love!! My hair and eyes are a close second!
I am so happy with my weigh-in. I'm down 3.2 lbs this week. I have no idea where the loss came from because I was expecting a huge gain. I haven't tracked my food or worked out all week... I'm just gonna chalk it up to luck and try to keep it up for next week!

Okay, there's a tough question. I do like my thick hair (mostly), and I actually like the not-so-great looking unique things about me. I have very ugly toes, the middle ones don't straighten out properly, but there mine. I got teased for vampire teeth as a kid, because I never got the ones between the front teeth and the eyeteeth, so I've got the pointy eyeteeth right next to the front teeth. But now I know they aren't super-noticable and its unusual and its all me. :goodvibes
Great reading all the positive posts this morning.
I am a big believer in using your posts and mixing up your daily intake because its been working for me. Today I was down 1.8 :banana: Tomorrow is DH's birthday, and I'm happy it falls on the weekend, so I can just fit it into my weekend treats. :goodvibes

Yesterday I was noticing my slim wrists! Maybe I should wear a bracelet today. :)

WOW! We are all a big bunch of LOSERS today!! I think everyone that has posted has had a loss.. WAY TO GO! What a great way to start our BL Summer challenge! Everyone make sure that you are PMing your weight to LuvBaloo, since she is our "weight keeper" (special thanks to her!). I'm so glad that you were all able to find something about yourself that you really like. It is so easy to get down on ourselves when we are struggling with our weight. Remember... "Accentuate the positive!!" If you've got great legs or calves, show them off with shorts, capris, or a skirt. If you have nice arms, short sleeves weather is here... and as corrinak mentioned, bracelets will show off nice wrists and hands. If you have beautiful eyes, make sure you show them off by accentuating them with nice mascara or eyeshadow... or a funky pair of glasses! It is not about being vain... it is about acknowledging and appreciating the GOOD things about us (while we try to change the not-so-good).
Welcome to Michele (DisFam5)! Glad to have you aboard. Super job on the 50 lbs you have already lost! That is an incredible accomplishment. Keep it up!!
MelanieC.... I posted on our BL Purple Team thread about some summer clothes I was getting rid of and I didn't have any takers. It sounds like (according to what you posted for a weight) they may fit you. If you would be interested, send me a PM. I'll post a link to the original post here in a few minutes.
Did everyone see Donac's post with the COW?? If you have trouble keeping up with that, I have a suggestion. I make a small notation in the upper corner of my daily food journal of how many points I am earning every day. That way I only have to type it into a PM and send it to donac on Friday.
I'll be back later..............P

I lost this week:cool1: Glad to see that is the theme here! Hope everyone is having a good day! I like the COW. It is something I have been trying to focus on this past week...I did really well getting my dairy in but noticed I wasn't doing as well with veggies and fruit. Today I packed carrots as my second snack instead of the Keebler 100 calorie pack of cookies! Personal triumph! I know we are going to have a great second week, especially with focusing on fruits, veggies and water! So raise a glass (of water that is) to a great new week (clink, clink, clink - the sound our water glasses make as we toast) now chug!

QOTD: Favorite Physical Attribute - I like my feet and my smile! I just did teeth whitening and I feel so much more confident in it again! I am really pleased with the results and feel better about my apperance!

Hey. I lost a pound today yipee! Something I like about myself--I'll be honest-- my breasts lol. Took a lot for me to give up birth control pills even though I knew I'd lose weight--didn't want to give them up lol. But--they are still there-- just lighter and higher woo hoo. My stretch marks (old) have gotten more noticable, but I'll work on building up muscle- I lost 25 pounds since January too so bound to have some issues.

Nice job with the carrots! I think so many of us (me included) are lulled into a false sense of "security" of sorts, with those 100 calorie packs. They are not particularly healthy (IMHO of course) and they are not at all filling (MHO again), but they certainly take care of the sweets cravings once in a while! But we can almost ALWAYS make a better choice than to go with one of those packs.
I whitened my teeth many years ago and it was amazing how many people commented on it. I don't drink much coffee, tea, or soda, so I don't have to do it very often, but I am probably due again. Isn't it amazing how something as simple as white teeth can make you feel SO good about yourself?

Thanks for your honesty! Lucky you... I am somewhat glad that I haven't gotten down to my pre-babies and pre-80 pound weight gain 1992 bra size, but I just wish the "girls" weren't heading so far south!! Nice job with the weight loss too..................P

Well, I signed up yesterday and used yesterday's weigh in as my official starting weight so I haven't lost any weight since yesterday...:rotfl:..but next week should hopefully be a different story.
Then again maybe not. We are going to be at Disneyland the 26th-29th but I have an eating plan and hopefully I can stick to it. I'm planning on having a healthy breakfast in the room before heading out, buying a light lunch and ordering whatever for dinner but splitting it. I'll also bring bottled water and healthy snacks to take into the parks. I'm hoping that plan along with all the tons of walking will at least keep me from gaining any.
Yesterday I went over my top calorie limit by 58 :scared1: so I need to keep a closer eye on that front. Got 40 min of cardio and today have gotten 20 min of cardio and need to do strength training later after work. So far I've managed to chug 3 glasses of water and I hate drinking water so the COW this week is actually a really good one for me.
Congrats to all who lost this week! :yay:
QOTD: Favorite Physical Attribute : I like my feet and my hands. They're both small and evenly proportioned.
And I forgot who the poster was...but thanks to the person who suggested sparkpeople.com...I signed up and it's awesome! :thumbsup2

I am 35 years old and recently divorced. I am about 150 pounds overweight which is my ultimate goal to lose, but for this summer challenge I plan to lose 25 pounds by Labor Day.
My sister and I are doing this together and even though we live in different states we are encouraging each other and sending each other weight loss tips.
My goal during this summer challenge is to WOW my sister when she sees me for our annual Disney trip in September!

QOTD -- What are your plans for the summer? How will your plans help or hinder your goals for this challenge?
I don't have any plans for the summer except to lose 25 pounds before I go to Disney World Sept. 9-13th!
QOTD -- What is your favorite Disney song? It can be from a park, movie, play, etc.
The theme from Fantasmic!
QOTD -- Do you have mini-goals to help you meet you big goals for this challenge?
I don't have any mini-goals. I just plan to take it day by day and to persevere.
QOTD -- What is your favorite ride at Magic Kingdom or Disneyland?
Big Thunder Mountain
The QOTD is how healthy are you going to be today?
Even though I'm answering this a day later, I was pretty healthy yesterday. I ate cheerios for breakfast. A half of a foot-long oven roasted chicken breast full of veggies from Subway with some Sun Chips for lunch and ate the other half of the sandwich for dinner. I also drink approximately 64 ounces of water and walked on the treadmill for 60 minutes.
What is your favorite physical attribute (on yourself)? Maybe you have great eyes, or perfect teeth. What is it about yourself that you really like right now? (Not in 10 pounds or whatever.)
My favorite physical attribute is my calves. Even though they are thick, they are very shapely!
Sleeping*Beauty

So, the QOTD is how healthy are you going to be today?
I am hoping for a very healthy day today. I've done my exercise and have my meals planned out.
Hope that you all have a healthy day today, too!
Don't forget to PM your weigh in to LuvBaloo tomorrow.
I was pretty healthy. I had a salad for lunch and didn't have a bedtime snack.
Anyhow.... I will start off my week with this Question Of The Day.
What is your favorite physical attribute (on yourself)? Maybe you have great eyes, or perfect teeth. What is it about yourself that you really like right now? (Not in 10 pounds or whatever.)
I have to say I love my fingernails. They are pretty long and people are always suprised when they hear that they are real. They always seem to draw posistive attention.
Sorry, I didn't get on yesterday because I had to go fishing(notice that I said fishing not catching). I've been pretty good today. I've had about 30oz. of water today and I had chicken sald with a vegetable medley and pineapple for lunch.
P.S. I lost 1.2 pounds.:goodvibes

QOTD: Favorite Physical Attribute, hmm, I'm gonna say my eyes. I have blue eyes and they really open up with a little eyeliner and mascara.
I just need to also say that I had a really bad week at work, but am happy to report a really good weight loss week! That really rounds out the rough work week! And, we have a three day weekend!
I lost 3.3 pounds this week!

There is still one week where we need a coach 6/26 - 7/2. Lots of you offered to coach an extra week if needed and I appreciate that. Please PM me if you would like to coach that week. It is a lot of fun and great motivation.
Sounds like everyone had a great week and a great weigh in -- I know that we can all stay OP this week-end!

I just started the challenge yesterday, so no loss to report yet.
QOTD: What are your plans for the summer? How will your plans help or hinder your plans for this challenge?
DH and I just booked a "secret" trip to Disney World for July 21-23. This kids think we're going to Chicago! I think it will motivate me to stick to the diet and exercise routine so I can be thinner and in better shape before our trip.
QOTD: What is your favorite Disney song? It can be from a park, movie, play, etc.
Wishes.
QOTD: Do you have mini-goals to help you meet your big goals for this challenge?
I'm doing Weight Watchers, so I'm going with the 5% and 10% goals that they set. I want to reach 5% by 4 weeks, and 10% by 9 weeks (the day we leave for Disney!)
QOTD: What is your favorite ride at Magic Kingdom or Disneyland?
Pirates of the Carribean.
QOTD: How healthy are you going to be today?
Since this was for yesterday, it was my first full day on WW, and I did a little too good! I ended up 4 points under. I was really upset because I'd had lunch at Olive Garden, and I could have eaten a couple bread sticks if I'd known I was going to have points left over! I also earned 3 activity points.
QOTD: What is your favorite physical attribute on yourself?
Probably my legs. I carry all my weight in my stomach, but my legs are fairly thin, not lumpy, and no varicose veins.

I hear you about the achy legs! I started getting bad sciatic pain down my leg and when I started walking I could only go for 10 min before I thought my leg was going to need amputation the pain was so bad. Now I'm up to 40 min of walking a day and the pain is all but gone!

Whoa. I missed like 3 QOTD. I'm gonna do them now cause they're fun! :cutie:
QOTD: What are your plans for the summer? How will your plans help or hinder your plans for this challenge?
We're going to Disneyland next week. And I'd like to hit the water parks and Legoland this simmer too. The walking always helps but those churros are murder!
QOTD: What is your favorite Disney song? It can be from a park, movie, play, etc.
OK...don't laugh...it's a small world
QOTD: Do you have mini-goals to help you meet your big goals for this challenge?
Basically I'm just trying to meet my daily/weekly excercise and healthy eating goals. Cardio 5x a week and strength training 3x a week.
Eeyores Butterfly
05-22-2009, 10:23 PM
I missed the questions too!
QOTD: What are your plans for the summer? How will your plans help or hinder your plans for this challenge? Mostly I will be moving to a new city and my new house (packing before that), applying for a job and hopefully working at Worlds of Fun come July, and going through all of the trainings necessary for my new teaching job.
In some ways I think my plans will help because with packing and moving and working in a theme park I will be doing a lot of physical activity. In some ways I think they will hinder because I have never been good at staying on track when my schedule gets very crazy.
QOTD: What is your favorite Disney song? It can be from a park, movie, play, etc.
Hmmmmm, I love the Belle Reprise from Beauty and the Beast because I feel like I could have written it. It speaks to my soul.
QOTD: Do you have mini-goals to help you meet your big goals for this challenge?
Yep! I posted them awhile go (those were non weight goals). For weight goals I am using the WW mini goals of 5 and 10%.
I gained this week, but I expected that. I'm focusing on slowly building habits and I think once I get the foundation laid the weight will start coming off.

Oh no - I almost missed weigh in day. I started out about 3 times today to report weight. I would sign on and get sidetracked reading other things and then would sign off again. Then I would remember I forgot do my weigh in report. So, I would start again and again. This time I came directly to WISH and I am not going to catch up on any reading or I will probably forget to send my PM with today's weight yet again. Off to do that PM NOW!

I have a question on our COW If I'm reading it right we have a total of 21 points possible (3/day, one for each segment) right?
Anyway, I made all three today! Veggies and fruit just miraculously came my way...so I ATE them! :woohoo: I had to make a concentrated effort to get the water in, but I did it.
I didn't answer the favorit ride question, becaus...I can't. Some decisions are just beyond me. ::MickeyMo I can say that there are some I look forward to doing that I haven't been able to do in a while. I've been avoiding some of the more 'thrilling' rides due to climbing in and out of ride vehicles and my joint issues....but that will all be changing now!

Glad to hear about all the losses. I just wish I was one of them. This week I maintained. And I'm really rather upset by it. I had a really good week. Journaled everyday, excercised, and nothing.
QOTD: What is your favorite ride at Magic Kingdom or Disneyland?
Peter Pan.
QOTD: What is your favorite physical attribute on yourself?
I can't say that I have a favorite. Ok maybe I would say my hair color. Even though I'm starting to get a few grays but hey, I earned everyone of them.

Wow, I guess I really need to catch up! I work nites and just worked the past 3 nites (12 hr shifts) and have not really had time to be on the internet. However I did make time to exercise every day that I had to work ;)
My favorite ride at MK is the teacups - I love them. But we have so many that we have to ride every time that we go - Dumbo, Winnie the Pooh, Space Mt, Splash Mountain !
My favorite salad dressing is Ken's lite sweet vidalia onion and also Ken's light French dressing. I have never made homemade dressing.
I did pack my lunch for work everyday and drank all my water!! We even ran up and down 4 flights of steps one night at work. I had a 2 lb loss this morning which made me very happy:yay: I was really afraid that I would gain because at the beginning of the week my weight actually went up 2lbs. I finally figured I had not been drinking enough water and drinking too much diet pepsi. I changed that once I went back to work and it really helped.
Well I haven't been to sleep since Thursday so I really probably should! My son rebroke his arm on Tuesday and had to get a full arm cast today. He was just cleared from the ortho dr. last week for his broken arm (wrestling match) from February and fell at school playing football. :sad2:
Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

So I was supposed to work 8 hours today and about 5 and a half hours into my shift I got a call that someone had called in sick and I was being forced to work the swing shift as well, so 16 hours. They did let me go grab some food as I was not prepared for that long a shift. I am proud to say I went to subway and as a snack later I got a diet pepsi and pretzels out of the machines. Way better than some of the options and I am still under my points for the day! I didn't get to do my work out that I had planned though.
Oh well.

Thanks Lisa for the awesome coaching last week, and welcome Pjlla!! I pronounce that pill-ja in my head, and it's kind of a cute name. Thanks Dona for doing the Cow again. It's such a big help to keep me healthy.
Anyhow.... I will start off my week with this Question Of The Day.
What is your favorite physical attribute (on yourself)? Maybe you have great eyes, or perfect teeth. What is it about yourself that you really like right now? (Not in 10 pounds or whatever.)I would have to say my hair. I have really thick hair, and I love the cut I have lately, it's kind of bobbed up in the back, but longer in the front. I especially love it when I've just colored it.;)
You know when I was a weight watcher I SWORE by eating all my extra flex points each week, but my biggest key was varying my points each day by using those flex points. So a few days a week, especially near WI, I'd have a low points day - at actual point goal. Then I'd have a few HIGH point days where I'd go well above my regular points and then I'd have some mid range point days to fill in the week. I think your body definately needs the "guessing" and I was BIG on this.
:) Glad you had a loss this week, and an awesome attitude for success. This is exactly what I try to do, and honestly when I'm staying under my points, I've always had more success when I use all of my flex points and most of my activity points. I usually have a couple days where I use more flex points than others. My ww leader has always pushed using all the flex points and activity points, but lately she is talking about mixing it up and having a couple higher point days with some lower point days, just like you said. It works.
II gained this week, but I expected that. I'm focusing on slowly building habits and I think once I get the foundation laid the weight will start coming off.
I am sorry you had a gain, but I love to hear the optimism coming from this quote. You are so right and on the right track.
Glad to hear about all the losses. I just wish I was one of them. This week I maintained. And I'm really rather upset by it. I had a really good week. Journaled everyday, excercised, and nothing.
.Venetia, I'm sorry you didn't see a loss, but hang in there, and don't give up, and you will see a good loss next week. It's so frustrating how the scale doesn't always show our hard work, but I know for me, trying not to give so much "weight" to that number on the scale, and knowing I've done everything right and keeping on track will help and the scale will catch up. Our weight can fluctuate day to day by hormones, sodium intake, fluid intake, etc. Hang in there!! Keep doing all the right things.
Congratulations to all the losers here!! It's so nice to see such a positive and active thread. I thought of you all yesterday when I was having some stress, and those thoughts helped keep me away from the delicious muffins someone had brought into my work. I was in a procedure room for the morning, and when I came out I got the message that my mom was in the ER with pneumonia, it was lunch time and those beautiful muffins were there, but I ate my sandwich and fruit, and felt so good afterwards. My mom is doing ok. She has had lots of medical probs, and had her ups and downs. From dec 07 to last july, she was in the hosp more than she was home, but had been doing pretty well til now. I'm sure she'll be fine, I'm just hoping that she doesn't lose too much strength and will be able to come home without going to rehab. It's stressful, and I feel guilty. We are going to camp in maine for the weekend, but we'll go see her before we go today, and when we come home monday, but I'm torn. My son is so looking forward to camping, so we will go a little later than we planned, and come home a little earlier. I'm going to go cut up some fruit for our trip now.
Thank you all for you support and inspiration. You really do make a difference, and helped me to stay on track.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Kathy, sorry to hear that your Mom is sick. That is the pits. You are truly one of the "sandwich generation" between your Mom and your son. Here is some pixiedust: for all of you. Both you and Michael have looked forward to this camping trip for some time. I think that your plan is fine. Just have your cell on so you could come back if things change. If your Mom is in the hospital now, she will probably need more help when she is ready to come home and you will be rested and refreshed after your week-end with Michael. Have a safe and wonderful trip!
It looks like we have our last coaching spot filled. :cool1: With a different coach every week for 12 weeks we should get lots of new ideas and keep our thread fresh and motivating. Thanks again to everyone who keeps our challenge going!
One other small housekeeping matter. The original sticky with the challenge info had a typo on the ending date. It said the ending date was Friday, August 17th but actually that Friday is August 14th. The results will be posted the week of August 17th, which is a Monday. Sorry! Sometimes I am not so good with dates!
Have a great day, losers!

Yeah me too-up until maybe the last 5 years or so I'd just do my best to camoflouge 'em but now that I'm 41--feeling really comfortable with my body.
Honestly--I think my daughter had something to do with this. She'd get annoyed at me wearing huge shirts and sort of gently tried to tell me I had a great figure why hide it. When I did start shedding the big shirts she just was thrilled and encouraged me. Lol--she's gonna make a great Mom some day.

OK this COW thing isn't easy--it's hard. I thought I had a great day yesterday and didn't end up with any points lol. I only had one serving of fruit and veggie and maybe 6 glasses of water total between drinking fountains, regular water and coffee. I count half of my coffee as water. I had milk and a bagel with hummus for breakfast-- no points hmpf.
Well today I cut up a canteloupe, kiwis and threw some grapes in to make a fruit salad. So I had at least 2 fruits already lol. I forget how you really have to build up the water to make that viable.
Had a big Ribeye for dinner lol, but went for a long bike ride to our rose gardens after. Roses are still not there yet--a few here and there, but it's a beautiful ride on the river anyway.

I didn't make it onto the computer last night, so it was exciting to log in today and see so many people have sent in their weights. :cool1:
Today is DH's birthday and dd7's first overnight campout with Brownies (Girl Scouts). And DH's sister is in labour with her first baby, so tomorrow will be a short car trip to go see the new little one. I'm excited, but I really need to get my butt in gear and get the cross-stitch done for the baby.

Oh my GOSH! I am away for a just three-quarters of a day and I missed THREE PAGES of posts! So sorry to everyone, but way too much to go back and reply individually to everyone... but I did read everything.. I promise. Glad to see we had many more losers! That is so encouraging.
Welcome to any and all newbies who posted.... sorry I can't welcome you all by name right now. But rest assured, you have joined up with a GREAT group of "losers".
Those of you who are trying to hard to earn your COW points. I know that I do great with the veggies and water, but I usually struggle with the fruit... but I got it in today!
I had a really busy day, so that is why I haven't been able to hop on here and "talk" earlier. I had a walk with a neighbor at 5:30 am, did some laundry and dishes and general picking up after the walk. Then it was off for the 90 minute ride to the "specialist" with DD's sick guinea pig (turns out she has a bad kidney stone). On the way home we stopped at Costco, Christmas Tree Shop, and Building #19 (we live in the BOONDOCKS so I have to run all of my errands when I am out). Home to unload and put away all of the purchases, and then a few hours of yardwork. Made a nice dinner, got the laundry from the clothesline and threw another load in the washer and now we are going to have a family movie time!
Hopefully tomorrow won't be quite so crazy, but there will still be laundry, dishes, and yard work.. oh well.
Speaking of Costco, I LOVE the fruit there! I bought a bowl of cut up assorted fruit, a bowl of fresh pineapple spear, and a bowl of sliced mango, plush a quart of blueberries. YUM, YUM, YUM!! I'll have no trouble getting in my fruit for the next day or so. Sadly, Costco is over an hour away, so we don't get there very often. Anyhow, if you have never tried their fruit (if you have a membership) give it a TRY. We had a BJ's membership for years and I never remember them having nice fruit like that.
Well, it is SO late that I will post TOMORROW'S question of the day tonight for you all to get a headstart on.
QOTD: Do you have any healthy/low cal picnic/barbeque foods that you always bring along/serve during holiday weekends (like Memorial Day)?
I like to make my DMIL's broccoli salad. It does have some mayonnaise in it, but not much and I use light mayo. It is a super easy, yummy, reasonably healthy, and loaded with healthy broccoli. BTW, I will share the recipe if any one is interested.
I'll try to find the time to hop on periodically through the day tomorrow to see how everyone is doing. Good night!......................P

Ok, so today I was kinda bad with my eating. But, I walked a ton. This morning I went yard sale(ing). I got 3 brand new fancyish long dresses for $3 a piece and my Mom got two brand new pairs of sandals for $5. I also went to a car show.

Please share the broccoli salad recipe. :thumbsup2 One of the caterers that work users makes a delicious broccoli salad, with red grapes and pinenuts, but I don't know what's in the sauce.
I've brought chips and my home-made salsa. Its not spicy, just tomatoes, lime juice, green pepper, garlic, chives and parsley, but DH and my mom love it.

Yup. A fresh pineapple, cut into quarters (top still on) and the middle cut out & chopped into bite size pieces. Add strawberries, orange slices, and blueberries. Mix the juice of one lime, 2 packets of Splenda, and 1 tbsp of peach Schapp's. Dump the fruit on the pretty pineapple (arranged on a giant platter) and pour the juice over it. YUMMY! This is always the first thing gone off the dessert table cause it actually tastes better than anything else. The peach schnapp's makes it.

QOTD - Healthy BBQ Snack
Fruit salsa - it's like dessert - so amazing!
Granny smith apple, kiwi, strawberry, a little each of orange juice, zest and brown sugar. You can play around with the amounts of the 3 fruits to get your preferred taste. I don't usually measure.
Served with cinnamon tortilla chips: soft tortillas, brush with water, sprinkle on cinnamon sugar, cut into wedges with pizza cutter. Bake in oven until crispy.
I'm sorry I don't have the real recipe anymore - it was originally from Pampered Chef.

I can't say that I do. I'm not really a very good cook and usually leave that up to the husband. He cooks rather healthy though. Princessbrides and Estherheads fruit recipes sound really good. Have to give those a try!
So, today we went over to OLd Navy. They were having a one day sale on flip flops...$1.00 each. Can't beat that. Got there a few minutes before they opened and there was huge line outside but we got in and got the alloted 5 pairs that were allowed and got out. The guy who worked there told me I could go back in and get another 5 pairs just go to a different cashier...so we went back in and by that time the place was a mob scene. People were pushing and shoving and one woman said she was cursed at even. I mean come on, these are just cheapy plastic flip flops for pete's sake! What is wrong with some people:confused3
Then on the way home my DS3 threw up in his car seat and he was completely soaked. Yuck! I had to pull over on the side of the road and strip him down. Poor thing was crying from being covered in yucko until he found out he would get to ride in the front seat. I was kind of freaked driving with him up there but that was all that could be done. His car seat was just ruined.
The good note of the day was that I ate really healthy, stayed within my calorie, fat, and carb goals. So at least there was that:thumbsup2

Yummy!! That sounds really good. I love anything with pineapple in it. One of the few fruits I really like. I make myself eat other ones!
I don't have any light recipes for holidays, but I have gotten my family to eat wheat hamburger and hot dog buns - we love the Merita brand!!

Morning all! dizneedoll... I'm glad that DD and I didn't end up going to Old Navy. We don't need flip-flops that badly! Sometimes a bargain just isn't worth the effort. Sorry to hear about the vomit incident. DS was a frequent vomiter in his younger years. We traveled with a basin in the back seat and a change of clothes at ALL times.... and I can't tell you how many times it was needed! He still gets car sick occasionally, but he is old enough to at least warn me and put his head out the window if necessary!:rotfl:
I wanted to get up early to head to Shaw's for some groceries, but I don't know what time they open on Sunday, so I haven't left yet. I imagine they will be open by 9 at the latest... we live a little over 30 minutes away, so I guess I have a few more minutes before I have to head out.
I'll come back later to share that broccoli salad recipe.............P

Dizneedoll sorry to hear about your sick little one after the Old Navy flip flop melee. Hope that he is feeling better now.

You all have some delicious sounding recipes -- beats my carrots and hummus suggestion hands down! :rotfl2: Estherhead your fruit salad recipe sounds especially delicious as I happen to have some peach schnapps that I use to make bellinis when I am feeling homesick for Epcot.
pjlla, sounds like you got a lot accomplished yesterday. I'm waiting for our grocery store to open this morning, too, it opens at 7 a.m. and it is 5:30 a.m. now. Should be able to get some laundry done between now and then. Today is plant the window boxes day. :flower3:

Nope. In fact this is the first Memorial Day weekend that I haven't worked in 5 years! As for BBQ one that I like doing is roasting corn in the BBQ. It doesn't nee dmuch butter, some ICBINB spray will suffice, with some garlic seasoning sprinkled on for taste.
Yesterday was a terrible day for me. I did ok in the morning but by afternoon it was snack city. I was seriously bored and my back was hurting (from an old car accident injury) so I was in no mood to exercise. So instead I ate chips and pizza for dinner. Than met a girlfriend of mine for our movie date and ate a large salad (healthy, dipping my fork into the dressing for each bite), but had a few heavily battered (actually awful tasting) onion rings too. Hopefully some motivaiton will return today.

WOW, is all I can say in regards to the number of posts that I read to get caught up. I'm not going to try and tackle responding but I did read them all.
We got back from the homeschool conference then dh went to work on a job. I stayed home and got the laundry going, straightened up around the house and then was able to do some stitching. Once dh got home we planted a few things in the garden and went to dinner. Eating all in all was ok while away, a couple of times I could have made better choices but I'm not going to let it get me down. We did split a meal at dinner last night and have been drinking lots of water. I need to update my sheet on the COW to see how I'm doing with that.
We are having a cookout this evening with family but shouldn't have any trouble staying on plan. I need to work on our meal schedule for the week and shop for that today.
I'll try to pop on several times today to stay caught up now.
I hope everyone has a great day!!

Don't beat yourself up over it. Yesterday is gone and today is a new day. We all have bad/off days. I think I'm like the queen of them actually, but I know how all to easy it is to just throw in the towel after a bad day. Hang in there, it will get better.
I am a scale addict also and that makes it extremely hard when one or a few bad choices affect it so heavily. Stupid scale. I'm just trying to focus on how much better I already feel.
Hope today is better for you.

Thanks. I'm hoping that I can take that as a sign that some things need to change. I have mu nalgene bottle filled and easily accessible so that if I'm bored and feel the need to snack that I drink water instead. At least I did get 20 minutes of exercise in today (b-4 weighing myself), so at least I can take comfort int he fact that I did exercise today. I just need to commit to something, to help lose the weight. Maybe after our trip I'll consider rejoining WW as the accountability (and paying for it) did help some.

I went around on my bike looking last Sat. after the scottish festival (it was after 4) and saw one (garage sale) a street down from us all closed and covered. Went there Sunday after work and they had put everything left over outside with a free sign on it. I ended up with some shorts, a couple of really pretty shirts and an old book by Francis Parkinson Keyes. There was a size 12 pants in there I thought what the heck-- might be worth hanging on to for awhile but after trying on-- I'm just putting them in my donations box. I have lost one pant size but it seems I'm nowhere near the next lol. Oh well-- that's a good way to find out--something free that you try on at home. Went riding around this Sat and found some tan capris my size and a cuddle duds long underwear shirt for a quarter each, found a wonderful winter coat with a hood--its a double coat too which means you can take the lighter one out and wear it-- for $3. Gold because my new one I bought last year is too big now. Found a gorgeous new looking black raincoat for $5 at another--believe me I wouldn't spend $5 if it werent fantastic and it was a medium! Exciting--probably a mans medium but it fit me and I'm 5'2 so I don't know. Then at one I went to about 4:30 pm after I got done at the farms, there were these crazy ladies in an upscale neighborhood that had obviously just been sitting there too long and I ended up with a ton of stuff for a grand total of $2. Oh I also found a medium sized new looking cat post (gold) by the side of the road somewhere else (while looking for a garage sale that didn't exist) in a pile of stuff free. This was fun--I haven't seriously been out garage saling for years but I do need new clothes....

Hey everyone - My multiple quotes are not working right, so I'll have to forgo giving shout out's to everyone. Lately I've been having problems with the quotes and quick replies. Not sure why. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
Got back late last night from the wedding. I didn't eat healthy as I figured I wouldn't. Friday night when we got there, my MIL had DH go get a pizza and I ended up eating 2 slices because my dinner at 5:30pm was more like a snack and by 10:30pm I was starving. My scale was up 1.6 this morning, but I know that by watching my calories the rest of the week that will go down (it's really only water at this point). So all is good. Plus I needed the 2 day jump in calories after being so low and static the previous week.

This isn't so much a recipe as a technique, but everyone loves it. I make fruit-kabobs. Just cut up what ever kinds of fruit you like (make it colorful) and thread onto those wood or bamboo skewers. Very pretty and healthy!

So.... I told myself I was going to journal everything this week but not worry about counting points. Yeah, the journalling did not happen. My plan for this coming week has been to journal everything and start counting points for breakfast. I'm going to go ahead and do that (my WW week starts on Tuesday). At least the last couple of days I have gotten a short walk in with the puppies. Maybe once I get done packing I'll be able to do some longer walks with them.
I'm not overly confident about Tuesday's weigh in because not only did I not count points but I pretty much sucked at journalling.

My parents took my DDs for a walk on Saturday and hit 10 yardsales in our neighborhood. I asked they didn't pick up more useless junk and they agreed to it. However when they came home DD4 had a new bike and DD2 had a tool box. DD4 had outgrown her bike so the purchase was fine with me, and actually it looks almost brand new :cool1:. As for the tool box it's a cute little John Deere "my 1st tool box" with play tools that's in great shape.

Forget the scales for a day or two, get back to healthy eating, push the water, and those pounds will be gone in no time. I have found that the shorter time they are here, the quicker they are gone.

Welcome, welcome! Yes you you can join and YES we can help you! You need to decide what healthy eating plan you want to go with (I don't like the "d" word). Weight Watchers, South Beach, or calorie counting with one of the on-line groups are all possibilities. Take the time to do some research and find a plan that you feel that you can live with... because that is exactly what you need to do.... live with a plan for the rest of your life if you want to be truly successful. Sure, we all have days/weeks when we totally fall off plan and go a little crazy, but KNOWING that there is a plan to jump back on when we need to is what keeps us going for the long haul.
Find some exercise that you can keep up with. Maybe you need to start slow with just some walking or maybe you are ready for something more. Whatever you decide, start doing it and KEEP MOVING! Cardio, weight training, resistance, whatever. Thirty minutes a day for AT LEAST three days a week would be about the MINIMUM I would recommend. Check out some of the other threads here on the WISH board where we do a LOT of talking about different exercise plans, exercise DVDs, etc.
Keep checking here whenever you can. THere are lots of fun, helpful, knowledgeable people ready to give you a hand.
What kind of journaling are you trying to do? Are you doing it online or in writing? Are you writing all of the foods, or just the points? Maybe you need to change it up.
I was keeping my food journal on my computer for about 4 months. But it got difficult to run to the computer every time I ate something, so I reverted back to the old fashioned method of pen and paper. I keep a cheap spiral bound notebook and pen on the kitchen counter. I try to write everything BEFORE I eat it. When I pack my lunch in the morning for work, I write it before I even leave for the day. If I am going away for a day or two, I grab the notebook and bring it along.
I also journal my daily exercise minutes (what I did and what time I did it), and my COW points. Plus if it was an unusual day for some reason I make note of it and I keep track of TOM in there. Then, if I have a particularly great (or particularly bad) week, I can really look back and see what might have made a difference.
Maybe you are trying to write too much. Try just making a tally mark for every point you eat to start with, and maybe a star at the top of the page for every healthy guideline you get in. It would be quicker than trying to write down all of the foods. Maybe tape a chart to the fridge or the cabinet door. Keep trying until you find something that really works for you and then STICK WITH IT! You can do this. I know you can.
Here is the broccoli salad recipe for anyone who was interested.
1 bunch broccoli crowns
1 red onion
6 oz. grated cheddar cheese
1/2 lb. bacon
1/2 C chopped celery
1/2 C sugar
1 C mayo
2 Tb. vinegar
Cook the bacon until crisp. Drain and chop. Clean broccoli and chop into chunks. Chop the onion. Mix the last four ingredients together in a large bowl or Tupperware with a lid. Add in first four ingredients and toss well. Chill overnight. Store in fridge. **Broccoli is NOT cooked.
##Here is what I do to modify the calories.
I usually double the amount of broccoli because otherwise this is a very saucy recipe. I use low fat cheddar cheese, turkey bacon, Splenda instead of sugar or half Splenda/half sugar (I really don't care for the Splenda aftertaste quite frankly), light mayonnaise.
This is definitely better if it sits for at least 24 hours in the fridge.
Happy Memorial day to you all! Let's all take a moment to remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Let's remember what Memorial Day is about. There is supposed to be a national moment of silence today at 3pm. I'm going to try hard to keep an eye on my watch and spend that moment in prayer for our current troops fighting overseas.
Well, I'm off to make french toast that I won't even be eating. DD had a friend sleep-over so I need to make a nice breakfast. But I'm sticking with steamed veggies and egg whites myself....................P

I didn't want this to get lost in my long post, so here it is..
Do you make separate meals for yourself and your family in order to stay on your "healthy" eating plan?
My answer is... I am trying to make healthier meals for EVERYONE, but sometimes that is hard. If I am making something much more fattening for the family (like last night's sirloin tips), I try to make extra vegetable so that I can fill up on that. So NO, I don't usually make separate meals, but I try to make some adjustments in the meals so that everyone is happy. (Plus DS has significant food allergies, so sometimes I can make something separate for him already anyhow.)
Last night I ate 3 oz of the meat (DD's friend was a little baffled when she saw me weigh my meat.... it is such a habit to me, it never occurred to me it might look odd to someone!), and a half-cup of the potatoes, but I also made a large batch of stir-fry so that is what I filled my plate with.. and I skipped the rolls altogether.
Since I intend to stick with this for LIFE, I know that I need to find ways to make it work in real life. Cooking multiple meals every night is NOT the way it is going to work for me, so I am trying eat modified versions of the real meals. .............P

I try to make the same meal for everyone, the excpetion would be for DH when I might make him fish instead of other meats. I realize the need to be concious of what we consume and to set healthy guidelines for our girls, so we've been trying to eat healthier. Does that mean that I eat as healthy as my kids, no. They're actually better about it than me :lmao: But I'm trying. Now that summer is here it means more fresh fruits and veggies for all of us. Yum. Plus our garden has started to grow.

WOW! It looks like you made out a lot better than I did with my yard sale(ing).
I'm kind of releaved to hear that I wasn't the only one to have a bad weekend. Hopefully by the end of the week we will all have forgotten about our bad weekends. My allergies are starting to act up again. This afternoon my head felt like it was going to explode. Thank goodness fo Nyquil.
Hope the meds helped and the allergies calm down soon.

Hang in there, small changes are the way to go...liked the idea of keeping one of the small notebooks with you, it might help remind you to journal.
Sounds like they hit a good one too...I do understand though about not bringing another thing in the house to add to the collections. I have a room that I'm really needing to clean out. It has become more of a junk room and I'm ready to make better use of it;).

No separate meals here...never have been one to do that. My family is good about eating whatever I serve them so as I'm cooking I try to make it healthy for all of us. The only time I've done something different is when I was trying a shrimp dinner and dd is allergic to them so I fixed her a chicken breast.

In our house it's called the basement ;) Not only do we have things in boxes frm our move last summer but we have muliple rubbermade totes with toys just spilling out of them. And of course you can't get rid of anything.

Hi Guys!
I'm coming back with my tail between my legs. It has not been a good weekend. To make the contrast worse, my dh did a Half marathon yesterday, mowed the lawn, weeded and poisoned, and took ds to see "Night at the Museum". I laid around and read books...
I know I need to just get back on track. Holiday weekends are not good for me. I look forward to them, but I just don't follow through with exercise or eating right. I guess I need to schedule a race so I will have to do what I need to.
Today I'm doing :laundy:, general straightening and cleaning, and I'm going to walk 4 mi later. I had a vitamuffin and tea for breakfast, I'm going to have a salmon burger and corn on the cob for lunch.
For those of you who do WW -- I remember a few years ago you could "jump start" your weight loss by eating fewer points for a week -- does anyone know what the minimum is you should have? I'm supposed to get 25 pts per day -- I was thinking if I cut that back to 20 for a week, it would be ok? I'm open to suggestions. I usually work out for an hour most days, running or walking. I just need to do something drastic to get the scale moving down. I've been stuck losing and regaining the same 3 lbs for the past 3 weeks.
TIA!
For the QOTD: -- We have a different arrangement in that my dh does most of the cooking. It is not uncommon for us to have 3 different dinners. He always makes something healthy for me, and then something ds will eat -- and then he usually has a combo of my food and ds's for his dinner. It's not as much work as it sounds -- when we cook off the grill (which we do for most of the summer), I'll probably have a salmon or turkey burger with veggies, ds will have a hot dog or hamburger with chips, and dh will have a combination of most of the above.

QOTD: Nope, live alone so only have to cook for myself. The problem is....actually DOING it. Since starting WW I've been doing more home prep, but I've still got to kick it up a notch!
....off to the grocery store.....

Not really, DH and I are both good cooks (we think!) and everyone eats what we make. However, we are doing low carb and we don't want our skinny kids to lose weight so they get buns with their burgers, tortillas for soft tacos if we're eating taco salad, etc. They also usually get dessert and we don't (usually an ice cream sandwich or something, I don't usually make dessert.)

QOTD: Uh-oh, I have a lot to say on this matter. I don't cook twice. It's just too much of a hassle. But I will make different things kind of. So if we're having hotdogs, I have Ballpark white smoked turkey hotdogs, and the kids have regular hotdogs. But even burgers anymore, everyone gets the same 93% lean mixed with turkey & onions mixture.
Last weekend I had 20 year old guys over (the worst eaters on earth, ya know?) and had tacos. I made the meat with turkey (they didn't notice.) The tortillas were actually whole wheat wraps from Aldi's (they loved them cause they were big and easy to fold) and homemade salsa and Baked Tostitoes (which were totally gone by the end of the night.) The two exceptions were I bought regular sour cream for them & dh and I used the fat free and I made a totally NOT low calorie dessert. That was my only concession as my dh REALLY wanted a certain dessert & I caved in to him (& then regretted it as I ended up eating some too.)
It's been my experience that if you take the time to truly learn to cook all over again, and yes, it is a HUGE hassle, you will be better off in the long run. If you want to lose weight once and just maintain, you need this to be your life. I started my ongoing journey 7 years ago and I'm so grateful that I took the time to re-learn to cook at that point.
And I'll tell you this, my kids aren't skinny (not fat either.) I'm just saying that I'm happy to feed them my way of veggies, fruits, lean meats, whole grains & no pop at home most of the time because it seems like every day there is other stuff for them to eat that is not great. In the last 7 days they've had cotton candy, movie theater popcorn, skittles, chips, pop, snow cones, cream cheese pretzels, etc. Most of that was at school! Would they be overweight if they didn't eat "lite" at home? I have to say probably. And we're active too.
America is just a dangerous place for your kid's waist lines to live. In my case, I feel like at least my own dinner table is controllable. Somewhat.
OK, I'm folding up my portable soap-box.

Hi Everyone! I have had a pretty good weekend. Saturday I went to a carnival with my mom, nephew and kids and had a good time. I had a pretzel (no salt) which I shared with my son. I also went for a walk down to the beach after the kids were in bed since my gym was already closed. On sunday I did some gardening and puttering around the house and then the whole family did a costco run...spent waayyyyy too much money but got a lot of healthy foods which I then took home and portioned out with my handy dandy scale. Food wise was fine. Yesterday we went to a friends for a dinner party. I ate very little points wise before the party because I knew she was making one of my favorite dips...she's a vegetarian, though, so everything was made with things I am not used to...even the cheese wasn't really cheese, so figuring points was hard. I did my best to guess and I did well with not taking too much food. However, I think I am catching a cold...my throat really hurts!
QOTD - picnic food - I normally just bring a watermelon...healthy and very "summery" food.
QOTD - Seperate foods - If a meal is actually prepared, usually everyone eats it, however because of our schedules (DH doesn't get home till 830pm most days and ds's bedtime is 8) we usually just eat seperately...I don't really "cook" often because of this. My ds's normal choice of food for dinner is a yogurt and an apple so I figure I don't have to worry too much if those are his foods of choice. HOwever, we went to my friend's house last night and he grabbed a bowl of chips and put the bowl on his belly as he lounged back in a chair in her back yard...he reminded me of those guys who watch saturday night football.
Anyway, I noticed when I went to grab my snack at work today that I am eating a lot more colorfully than I used to. I had a tupperware container with 1 cup of grapes and one serving of baby carrots. I have low point options today as we are going to my moms for a bbq tonight. We are bringing dessert and some turkey hot dogs and buns. The dessert is a cobbler with rhubarb and raspberries made as light as possible...instead of sugar we use splenda and instead of butter we use extra water. It calls for jello so we use sugar free. It works out to be about 4 points for an eighth of the pan so you get a decent size portion and it is packed with flavor!
Anyway, I need to work more on the exersize but am doing pretty well food wise and hoping everyone has a great holiday!

Not really, DH is happy with my progress. He commented this weekend, that he's noticed we're eating less pasta, and stuff. I've always sometimes not bothered cooking a potato or rice dish for dinner, and just left it at meat, salad and cooked veggies, but I'm doing that more often now.
I've got the whole family into steamed edamame now! I like it so I bought it as a healthy munchy thing for me, and this weekend DH and DD's decided to try it and they all like it. :thumbsup2

If you haven't been sticking to a plan, even just going with your daily points should give you a jumpstart. I started in March, and realized that I'd been eating a lot more points that WW gave me, so just sticking to there daily points gave me a good loss the first week, after that weekly losses got a lot smaller, but the first good loss was motivating.
And I got a new niece last night, so I'm taking this afternoon off work, to do the 1.5 hr drive to go see the baby. I don't want to wait for the weekend, I want to see the baby in the first 24hours. :goodvibes

The absolute minimum is 14 points, but that should only be on occasion. If you are looking for something to give you a push that probably isn't the way to do it. For some reason, the main thing that seems to have helped the people at the meeting I go to is to make sure they eat all of their daily points allowance (bizarre, I know). Also, drinking 1.5 litres of water a day really helps me when I need a big weight loss one week.
Good luck. Hope you manage to stay on track.
Intro:- Ok, I haven't really introduced myself yet so here goes. I weigh 204 pounds (not 208 as previously posted) and am 5'4". I have battled with my weight on and off since I was a teen. When I met my husband, my big appetite combined with his to help me gain 56 pounds and 3 dress sizes. When we were planning our wedding I lost the weight but gained it again shortly after. After my first pregnancy, I voed to lose it all and joined Weight Watchers. I became pregnant 3 months after my DS was born. So, I had my DD and then half heartedly did unofficial Weight Watchers. That wasn't working, so I joined Weight Watchers online. That worked for a while but eventually I lost my motovation again. I have been feeling so unhealthy and I have become so unfit that I finally started going to WW meetings. I was doing well and lost 2 pounds a week for the first 2 weeks. Then, I gained a pound. I didn't give in and lost that pound the following week. Then, I was told at work that my job was going to India. The company have redeployed me within the business but with my DH currently out of work and the stuff with my job I just binged on chocolate (my drug of choice) and haven't really stopped since. I have steadily gained 1/2 pound every week since then. I am continuing to go to WW because I know if I stop going I will just get bigger and bigger. I just can't seem to motivate myself to get going again. I am hoping joining this group will give me that push I need so desperately. It really feels as though it is now or never.
I haven't exercise regularly in a long time but have a treadmill and have recently bought a Wii (and Wii Fit and Wii Active).
So that's me.
QOTD:- In our house everyone eats healthily. We have 2 young children (DS 2, DD 1) and my husband and I are both trying to live a healthier lifestyle.

It's great to see such a busy thread.
QOTD: Do you have any healthy/low cal picnic/barbeque foods that you always bring along/serve during holiday weekends (like Memorial Day)? This is a great question, and some of those fruit ideas sound awesome.
I usually bring fruit either a salad or a platter with melon slices, strawberries, and pineapple slices. Fruit always seems to go at a bbq. The other thing I like to make, not so much healthy except for the fruit, is a trifle. I cut up an angel food cake in to little squares, and layer them with a fat free pudding/fat free coolwhip mix, and fruit on top of the pudding, usually strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries, and some times I'll add a can of peaches cut up too. It's really tasty when you want a sweet, but definitely lower in calories than any other trifle. Plus it's quick if you buy the store baked cake.
I didn't want this to get lost in my long post, so here it is..
Do you make separate meals for yourself and your family in order to stay on your "healthy" eating plan?
It's just my son and I, but usually I'll make a meat that we both will eat, and depending on the vegies, will sometimes make different vegies for him and I, and also when we have rice, I make two different kinds, which I don't mind doing, because I like to have leftovers. I'll also make chili that I love, that he won't eat, but i'll take some of the ground beef and make him a burger, and then make the chili. Summer seems easier, we both love corn on the cob, and we'll have burgers a lot, and depending on how I've eaten during the day, I'll have a beef one, or vegie burger.
I'M pleased with myself today, I'm down over a pound! :cool1: Now I just need to get the other 2 off :lmao:

I don't remember the jump start thing, but was that when you had a range, and no flex points, so it kept you at the low end of the range? I know my leader stresses that we should never go below our daily points range, because you need the food to fuel your body, and keep that metabolism fire burning. I've also heard good things about mixing it up day to day, having a couple low point days, mixed with a high point day to keep the body from getting used to having lower calories every day. I know a pp said if you started with your daily points, it would probably work, especially if you haven't been following. I'm a wwer for many times over the years, and I know if I just follow the plan, and stay within the points including the flex points and activity points, then I lose weight. Hang in there.
And I got a new niece last night, so I'm taking this afternoon off work, to do the 1.5 hr drive to go see the baby. Welcome to our wonderful little group. I'm also a weight watcher, and like you, am going to meetings, and won't stop. I restarted last sept, and am only down 7 pounds, playing with the same few pounds, but I know if I stop, I'll go right back up. This group has really motivated me to get back on track, and hopefully to stay there this time. Sorry to here about your husbands, and your work stress. I hope everything works out, and that you can channel some of that stress into exercise. It's so frustrating that we eat when we are stressed. Good luck. You can do it.:cheer2:
Kathy, sorry to hear that your Mom is sick. That is the pits. You are truly one of the "sandwich generation" between your Mom and your son. Here is some pixiedust: for all of you. Both you and Michael have looked forward to this camping trip for some time. I think that your plan is fine. Just have your cell on so you could come back if things change. If your Mom is in the hospital now, she will probably need more help when she is ready to come home and you will be rested and refreshed after your week-end with Michael. Have a safe and wonderful trip!
!Thank you so much Lisa. That is so true of the sandwich generation, and it can be so difficult at times. I did go away, and my mom is doing better now. She will hopefully be coming home tomorrow or wednesday, and she said she's been up and walking each day, so hopefully she didn't lose too much strength.
I had a fun weekend, and I did really well sat and sun, but not so well today, so I'm here now with a big glass of water, and back on track. At the campground, I pretty much snacked on fruit, and baked tortilla chips with salsa, and our meals were grilled meats with salad one night, and potatoes and zucchini the other night. I did have some wine, but I drank half wine and half diet sprite, so it lasted longer, and I alternated with water. I had one smore only one night, but today, my son and I finished the bag of marshmallows on the way home, and we went to a minor league baseball game, and had hot fudge sundaes there. I also journalled on sat and sun as I went, but didn't do that today, but just wrote it all down, and when I think of how I used to eat, I really didn't do that badly. In the past, I would have had a hot dog or burger and fries at the game in addition to the ice cream, but we ate ham and cheese and apples, before the game. I also would have had regular chips and dip, i always baked cookies before camping, but didn't this time, and I never stopped at one smore. In the past, I so easily would continue to eat out of control after a couple days of splurging, but I so do not want to do that again. I just ate cereal for dinner, and am drinking my water, and am going to make my shopping list for the morning, and stick to my guns and lose this weight.
Hope everyone had a nice memorial day weekend.

Do you make separate meals for yourself and your family in order to stay on your "healthy" eating plan?
Not usually, BUT at breakfast we all do different things normally. Then at lunch, I am most likely to fix myself something healthy. Dinner, we all eat the same thing.
I am doing pretty darn good with cutting out the pop. I have had "tiny increments", but mostly water and I'm trying to make the conscious choice to choose water instead. If that makes sense.
I put on a bathing suit today:eek: Really hoping that I'll need a new suit by the end of summer.
To those who use Wii Fit, what games do you like to use with them and why? I bought the Golds Gym aerobics, but it's mostly boxing. :headache: I have the Jillian Michaels one, but I think its confusing.
~Thanks, Karen

Do you make separate meals for yourself and your family in order to stay on your "healthy" eating plan?
Same meals all around. Weekday breakfast and lunch we are grabbing/making different portable options. Dinners are cooked half by me and half by DH. Before he joined me in our healthy eating, we still ate the same meals, but he would eat a lot more or add cheese, or have 2 hot dogs as an after dinner snack! DH has always had to suffer through my whole wheat tortillas and trying to get him to eat veggies. Now we're both checking calorie counts when we make a new food/recipe. We've also discovered together that it's amazing the variety of foods you can eat as long as you watch your portions. Like last night for dinner we had chicken with homemade herb butter sauce (real butter!) with a pasta/veggie side dish for under 500 calories. Our hobby together used to be dining out - so having homemade meals was already a huge step in the right direction for our calorie intake. Now we're both tracking cals and doing well.

It's great to see such a busy thread.
Good job!!:thumbsup2
Ooh, congratulations auntie.:cloud9: Now you can start helping her mom and dad plan her first disney trip, with auntie to help out of course.
Thank you so much Lisa.
Sounds to me like you're doing awesome. Really--I mean we have to live y'know, the sundaes sound so good. Hah- I had a big ribeye steak Friday, half a baby back Sat., and Sunday had a big ribeye again. But I have been really trying to do the cows and that has helped curb other eating I think. So far the scale hasn't been too mean anyway. I have a stupidly busy day tomorrow, going to have to eat dinner somewhere after work and dropping off my parents garage door key and before my stewards meeting. Maybe grab something at Target as it's on the way and I make a point of shopping clearance since it's out that way. I dunno though I have to go to Costco too to pick up catfood and it's on the way. I wish they still had the pretzels instead of the dumb churros. Yeah that will work--I'll do Target after.
Sorry can't contribute much to the healthy meal for yourself thing- were on our own except occasional dinners and whatever I want to eat goes. Unless someone else wants to cook (right).

Sounds like my house:rotfl::rotfl: I can't wait to see what happens when I have foot surgery in a month.
I haven't been on much this weekend.
Sat got up early to help dh mow his sister's lawn. Sunday we went up to dm and df's to work in their yard as their 55th wedding anniv present. My brother and all my sisters made it (1 bil did not come:confused3) All the grandkids made it too. It was hot and sunny. We got some flower beds weeded and mulched. They layed a paver patio under the deck so their would not be as much mud and they worked on the railing for the front deck. It's not done but the railing that is there is more secure.
We were lucky in that one of my sis in law mowed my fil's lawn or that is where we going on Monday. I did very little Monday. I did grocery shop
Eating hasn't been too bad. I did eat a little too much chex mix my dm made but it was so hot that when dinner came around I ate very little.
How are the COW's coming? They are on posting 157. The first set is finished at midnight on Thursday. Report them to me on Friday. Thanks.
Have to go I have some stories to tell from my trip to my mother's but I will save them for later. All I can say is I kept my mouth shut but I was ready to kill a couple of my sisters.
Have a great day everyone.

).Thanks Jayne. It is so true, that we do have to live, and learning to eat healthy most of the time, and have our treats in moderation is key. We can all do it. You are making me want to go shopping. I get out of work early today, and I might just do that today if my mom's not coming home. Sounds like you did awesome at the yard sales this weekend. I have a huge pile of stuff in the basement that i want to sell at a yard sale, but just haven't gotten organized to do it yet. I think I should just pick a day and put it in the paper, and that would make me do it.

What a great idea for a gift, and they must have loved having the whole family together.
I'm working on the cow. Gotta kick up the vegies, but doing well on fruit and water. I'm off to make lunch and go to work. I have an advanced cardiac life support recert course all day tomorrow for work, so I need to study a little too. When I worked in ICU, the recert was easy because I used the skills more often, but now that I'm in endoscopy, we never see it, which is great, but I really need to review for the testing.
Hope you all have great day.

Good morning, losers! Glad to hear that everyone had a good week-end, for the most part . . . ;) I was pretty much like everyone else. I did what I should have except for a time or two. But I kept my activity level up and am down 3 pounds from weigh in on Friday so something must be working right!
I think that we all need to be a little easier on ourselves if we slip off plan, accept the stumble, and get right back on track again. That's real life! :hippie:
Do you make separate meals for yourself and your family in order to stay on your "healthy" eating plan?
Yes, but mostly because DS is very limited in what he will eat. DS and I can eat the same thing but maybe I will leave out the rice or potatoes for myself and add extra veggies. I don't complain about DS eating because someday he will be a teenaged boy and will eat me out of house and home! :rotfl:
Have a great days, losers!

Good morning everyone!
Just wanted to say that I will get the results posted tonight. I was too tired last night after going to see the new baby to get it done, but it will be done tonight :goodvibes I'm on west coast, so the east coast folks probably won't see it until tomorrow morning.
