I have two girls. I would love to take my each of my girls on a mom and me trip (to DL). Has anyone done this? Taken only one kid at a time? How did this work out??

I took my son on a "mom and me" trip when he was 6. My younger child understood that she would get a trip alone with me at a future date. I made sure I brought back souveniers for the child left at home. They handled it very well.

My girls are 7 and 5 now and I have been doing a solo mom & me trip with them since the oldest was three. They both love the 1-1 time at WDW and know they will get a turn and when. This year its my 5yos turn - she will turn 6 at wdw and my oldest will be a bit sad but understands. I do know some familes that could not do this - just kids with different type of temperment. You know your kids best and how they will react - especially the one who is not the first to go. If you can work it out I highly recommend it, it is a wonderful time to really connect with my girls.

I did this with my friend's kids, boy age 7, girl age 4. My friend didn't want to go and the kids were dying to go back. Their ages were too spaced out to take them together, as she was too little to ride the "wild" rides and I couldn't very well send him on the rides alone while I waited with her.

I took her first, in September for 4 nights. We had a GREAT time! Took everything at her pace. I had made him a Disney Countdown Calendar on the computer where he tore off a page a day, so he knew how long until his trip. I gave it to him the day we left on her trip.

His trip was in December and we stayed 5 nights. Again, had a BLAST! We went to Disney Quest, too. Those are 2 of the best trips I've ever had!

This is kinda one of the reason i am thiking about doing this. The younger one is not fond of "wild rides" (expect the wildest ride in the wilderness [thunder mountain]) and the older one does like the "baby rides" (mainly small world). But being a single parent they are both "forced" to go on the rides they really don't like. I thought this way would give them both one on one time with me and give them a trip to "be the boss."
