I would prefer to be able to take the scooter right up to the front of the line, then get right into the ride, and leave the scooter off to the side...but it sounds like not many of the rides work that way?

Most rides you can take the chair to the designated loading zone. On POC, you will be asked to transfer to a manual chair because the loading and exiting of the ride are in different places.

Hi Brook! I stopped reading your update as soon as I got to the part about you booking the Wishes dessert party. I jumped on the phone and called Disney and booked one for myself!!!! I can't wait. :yay::yay:

Now back to reading the update!!

YAY for the Wishes Dessert Party!! You guys are going to have a great time and eat some amazing food LOL!!! I'm very very excited for you!!! I can't wait to see your pictures!!

I think you have made a great decision...you want to enjoy Disney and not have to worry about making things harder for yourself when you return home!! Going the ECV route is a good way to go!!!!!

Brook I think I know why you couldn't get the Wishes Dessert party for 9/6.

Please note that Tomorrowland Terrace Cafe is only open on these select nights:

August 16, 23 and 30
September 6, 13, 20 and 27

They are serving a buffet dinner at that location (Tomorrowland Terrace) on that night, along with a few other nights because of the demand with free dining those dates.

Brook,

I am so sorry that your foot does not heal as it should!! Less than one week is so close to your trip!! And you should only be excited and happy about it not having to worry about being able to walk. But I think renting an EVC might be the right thing to do! You will be able to tour WDW without doing any damage to yourself. And it will help you healing until your big trip at Christmas. You really want to be healthy again for that!!! :goodvibes Even if it will not be the trip you imagined, I am sure it will be a wonderful trip! And I am sure you will have many interesting stories to tell about WDW from that perspective - hopefully it will not include you driving over someon's foot!! :scared1::scared1:

I am sure it will be a wonderful trip too! As long as no one gets sick this time!!! I am starting to feel more calm about the ECV as I learn about it. I do think it's the best idea - and you are right, I want to be all healed up and good before Christmas.

Also, I've been meaning to tell you - I still haven't gotten your DVD in the mail. :headache: I'm VERY sorry - I keep forgetting to buy a mailer. We have to go to Target tonight and I WILL BUY ONE and get it in the mail before our trip!!!

Congratulations on Wishes!!! :goodvibes:goodvibes Can't you see Illuminations on the 6th instead??

Thank you! I'm so excited about it! It will be so much easier with Henry to have a location we can be sitting at and excellent "distraction" tools of chocolate and sugar. ;)

And YES, I think the 6th will work perfectly for Illuminations - I have to look a bit deeper into it all, but we are at DHS on the 6th, so we can easily buzz over to Epcot for Illuminations...

Most rides you can take the chair to the designated loading zone. On POC, you will be asked to transfer to a manual chair because the loading and exiting of the ride are in different places.

That is great to hear! I thought I had understood you just the opposite. Thank you again for all the help!

Hi Brook! I stopped reading your update as soon as I got to the part about you booking the Wishes dessert party. I jumped on the phone and called Disney and booked one for myself!!!! I can't wait. :yay::yay:

Now back to reading the update!!

:rotfl: So glad you got it too!!!!!!! :yay: I'm thrilled they extended it, I hope it becomes a regular addition.

YAY for the Wishes Dessert Party!! You guys are going to have a great time and eat some amazing food LOL!!! I'm very very excited for you!!! I can't wait to see your pictures!!

I am very much looking forward to all those pretty pretty desserts. And I think it will be so nice to have a place to sit without having to scope one out early and corral a toddler. The price is worth it for that alone!

The more I think about and look into the EVC, the more comfortable I am with it. It really is the best way I think.

Brook I think I know why you couldn't get the Wishes Dessert party for 9/6.

Ah! That does make sense! Thanks for the info - otherwise I might have tried a few more times for the 6th!

If you using Disney busses just make sure to be in the correct line, and visible. They have to load ECV's and wheelchairs first for safety reasons, so if it doesn't look like the bus driver is going to open the back door or come to the back of the bus to load you, make sure to have your hubby go up to the bus driver and let them know.

I would not try to leave the park right at closing either, look through the shops, take in the views, slowly walk out because there are only so many accessible spots on the bus and sometimes there could be a long wait at closing, after Spectro or Wishes etc.

Bill and I always take our time leaving Epcot after Illuminations, we sit and wait for the crowds to clear out and then walk slowly from the World Showcase, it is wonderful to walk out without the crowds and hear all the background music, ahhh I can't wait to be back.

Aww Brook-you do sound a bit sad about your foot but you're also right-you're going to Disney World and its going to be awesome regardless! Just make sure you have your meds to control your discomfort...

Think of the stories you'll have with the ECV-and its sure to make a great trip report too...:thumbsup2

Congrats on getting the Wishes Dessert Party-How fun will that be? :cloud9:

Remember you are going back also-just relax, do what you can do and soak up the amazing details and atmosphere-and who knows-you may just notice things at that level that you normally don't...

Getting closer and closer and closer....

I'm sorry to hear of your foot issues and it's not 100%. I do agree, better safe than sorry and who wants to be miserable, right? Especially in the heat! YIKES!

I was contemplating the Wishes Dessert party, however we're already doing the Pirates and Pals Fireworks cruise so I don't need to spend too much $$ watching fireworks all week! It could get a little overkill, ya know? :rotfl2: You'll have to let us know your perspective on it so hopefully next time around we can try it! :)

I'm so excited for you guys..

Welcome back!! How was your trip? It has to be so nice to know you have another trip coming up so quickly!!! Maybe the Disney Blues won't hit so hard.

We are staying in a Standard View (saving on the points) in December - thank you for the advice on the viewing! I have never really gotten to see many animals at Jambo House-nearly every time I've ever been there and looked there is maybe 1 animal wayyyy in the distance. I always seem to go at the wrong time! So, I'm happy to hear that it seems closer/better viewing at Kidani-perhaps I'll finally see some animals! We do plan to check out Kidani while we are there (in SIX DAYS! sorry...had to! ;)). We'll head over there after our time at AK.

My trip was great! I was a little apprehensive about the heat but it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. And we did take much needed afternoon breaks almost every day so that helped a lot. And it really didn't rain much -- most of the time we happened to be inside and then it just blew over. I only wore a poncho once the whole trip and that was for about all of 20 minutes. The October trip is definitely helping the Disney Blues since now I'm just in trip planning mode for that and I love the F&W festival!

I'm staying at Kidani standard view in Oct -- I hear you on the points. Some animal viewing advice. They feed the animals in the morning so they are really not out on the savanna then. It would have been nice to see them when we were getting ready to head out but there only seemed to be a stray ostrich or 2. We saw lots of animals in the afternoon when we came back for our breaks so that seemed to be the best time. There were also animals when we came back at night but it was really too dark to see anything. Another great place is the library area right off the lobby. If you go down the hallway off the right side of the lobby the library is on your left hand side. You can see the animals from there and you can also go outside on the balcony and enjoy one of the rocking chairs while you enjoy the view! This was a neat little relaxing area.

So...I jumped the gun.

After hitting "Submit" on my post above, my TA replied back with bad news.

NO DATES AVAILABLE for the party during our dates. NONE!

How could that even possibly be? It just got extended today! I know people have had a lot of trouble getting it booked, the CMs have had to play with the system and the times in order for it to even come up (so I've read here on the DIS).

So, I decided I would try.

And nope - nothing on the 6th. The CM I spoke to thought it wasn't being offered at all that day. :sad2:

BUT-She asked me for another date, I offered the 5th...and WE ARE BOOKED! This is our Epcot day, I think I need to do some plan adjustments - I would still really like to view Illuminations if we can fit it in somewhere.

So, September 5 we'll be munching on lovely desserts during Wishes!! :thumbsup2 And, I promise lots and lots and LOTS of pictures!

Yay for the Wishes dessert party! We just did this last week and is was really worth it! We had a great table and the view of the fireworks was really good:thumbsup2 And Tinkerbell flies right over your head!! Can't beat that. I know there's been some mixed info on viewing of Specto from there -- you can see it but it's pretty far away. We kind of had no choice but to view it from there since our check in time was during Spectro. But it was all good. Oh, and the desserts are fabulous! Everything was fresh and they replenished everything. There was even stuff left after Wishes was over. I had read some reviews where people complained they didn't refresh anything and the desserts were warm or soggy, but we didn't find that to be the case at all. It was so nice not to have to fight to find a place to watch the fireworks. You are going to love it!!

As for the ECV, I think you should just look at it as an adventure. You'll have fun no matter what and you'll be back soon hopefully without it. Better to feel good than to injure your foot further:goodvibes

This is all so good to know - excellent advice! Is there usually a CM there to say where the ECV should go in line? Or it it labeled? I've never noticed.

We love to take our time leaving too-it's so peaceful and beautiful. I'll never forget leaving after Illuminations on our Disneymoon, we walked slowly-hand in hand and then came upon the fountain and it was all lit up and dancing to the music-we stood there in awe. SO beautiful!!!!

The Pirates & Pals Fireworks cruise sounds AWESOME! I bet that will be a great time! And yep, I will be sure to report back in full detail on the party. I really hope it's something they choose to keep due to it's popularity.

Sorry to hear that your foot is not healing as well as you would like, but I am glad that you are being sensible and going for the EVC. It will enable you to enjoy your time so much better. And Wishes Dessert Party!!!!

I think so too-Joe and I were talking earlier and he said we should do whatever it takes to make it so I'm not miserable (or making HIM miserable!). This is the best move for all of us!

My trip was great! I was a little apprehensive about the heat but it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. And we did take much needed afternoon breaks almost every day so that helped a lot. I'm happy to hear that about the heat! And the rain! :thumbsup2

And thank you for the awesome advice on Kidani! :yay: I am thinking in December we'll be doing a lot of afternoon breaks to avoid those crazy crowds - and we'll be enjoying the resort. I'll remember that about the library and the balcony. It sounds just heavenly!

And I'm very excited to hear your great review of the Wishes Dessert Party! I haven't read any reviews, other than that of Kathy from the PodCast here on the DIS - she also loved it. Our check in time is also right at the start of Spectro, but that's OK with me. Joe is SUPER excited about this and thinks its going to be the highlight of our trip, being we don't have to find a curb and keep a toddler entertained for a couple hours, but we'll all be happy, eating and sitting...plus with a great view. :thumbsup2 I'm going to try to snag a pic of Tink! :yay:

That is good advice about viewing the ECV as an adventure - and yes, we will have fun not matter what!!

I can't believe I haven't mentioned this already...last year in October I went to the parks for a few days and a couple weeks before I left I fell down the stairs and twisted my ankle. Before leaving the swelling was pretty minimal and everything had gone back down to normal. I threw my support in "just in case." A few hours into the first day and the swelling was going up, glad I threw it in. So even if you're doing fine at home, the extra walking at Disney really takes a toll. My friend had to keep telling me to sit when I could because she wasn't going to push me around! So it really is better to be prepared for it.

Just a quick posting before work...

ONE week from today we'll be...

Dressed and ready to go, grabbing all those last minute items from the room and heading out to the bus stop. We are headed to MK for breakfast with Pooh & Friends! After breakfast we'll hit up Fantasyland...will Henry ride Barnstormer????

We just took Belle to the Dr. yesterday and she is two inches past the height requirement, so I'm sure Henry will be just fine. :thumbsup2

When I worked at B&B show, there were a few spots for wheelchairs & ECV's down in the front. At Fantasmic there were only spots in the back, though. That's all I know about that.:rolleyes1

Im sorry to hear that your foot is still giving you trouble. I feel for you. My oldest dd had foot surgery on May 15th and then again on the other foot June 15th. We were hoping she would be all healed up and running around by Aug 15th as she had to be back to college (translation for feet- lots of walking). She is still having lots of swelling on her second foot and cant get shoes on! She is wearing these tacky velcro sandels that we bought when we were at Hilton Head last month. The feet take so long to heal, so good thing you are getting an EVC. All that walking would only aggravate them.
Heres hoping that it will be a smooth trip for you! And practicing on the EVC is a great idea. My mom had to be on one a few years back because she sliced her foot open a few days before we left for our trip! She had never used one and when she was backing the thing into a spot at FOTLK she kept ramming the bleachers. They make a horrible vibrating sound when that happens- just so you'll know, ha ha!!

Have a great trip!! You are so close!!

Brooke,
I know that you are going to make the best of the situation at hand (you already are). From what I've experienced at Disney, they are very conscious of ECV's and wheelchair guests, so you shouldn't have any problem there. I also agree with everyone that has mentioned the fact that the walking may very well hurt you in the long run, so use the ECV and that will be and adventure in itself! The countdown continues, hurray!!:banana:

I cannot believe how close we are. I told Henry tonight, "We get to see Mickey in FIVE DAYS!" and he went "Oooooh!" and did a little hop. He pretty much summed it up! :yay:

I'm really enjoying reading along with your PTR. I hope your foot is feeling better soon!

The other day I picked up a pair of the same Teva flip flops that you got. I was looking to try a new brand and remembered your photo of them a few months ago. Love them! So comfy!

Thanks for reading! I'm glad you have been enjoying it!

So glad to hear you like the Mushies! I really like them too - they are so soft and comfy, a perfect fit in the rotation of park shoes.

I can't believe I haven't mentioned this already...last year in October I went to the parks for a few days and a couple weeks before I left I fell down the stairs and twisted my ankle. Before leaving the swelling was pretty minimal and everything had gone back down to normal. I threw my support in "just in case." I read on the disAbilities board last night that the average person does 3-6 miles of walking a day in Disney World, and I totally believe it! Plus all that standing while waiting can be a killer. I think you have convinced me to wear my big boot down on the plane and throw the little guy into the luggage. Then I'm set for either way.

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: OMG! Too funny! I love them all!! But, I have to agree with Brook, It's a Great Big Bootiful Tomorrow is my fav!!!!

OH GOODNESS YES I WANT COFFEE AT 9 PM! :lmao: At home, no way, but at Disney, count me in!!! Espeically to go with little creme brulee and chocolate covered strawberries... If it's the good coffee I'll so be sneaking my mug under that tap...:rolleyes1 ;)

I'll have a foot/ECV update below!

Glad to hear you've decided to do the ECV. While it is a bummer, it will work out best for everyone I am sure.

I cannot wait to see/hear about the dessert party. I bet it will be AWESOME!

Joe cannot stop talking about the dessert party. Today he said while at work he was dreaming of watching the fireworks while nibbling on dessert.

I bet Henry would love riding Barnstormer since he seems to like those thrill rides!

I hope so!!

I think Henry will be just about right with the height requirement of 35" - perhaps just above. We will take him to his 2 year appointment after we get back.

Oh, you have a story about Fantasmic and the wheelchair/ECVs don't you???!

Oh goodness, that's right! I forgot about your daughter's foot surgeries. I seriously just cannot even fathom being down on BOTH feet. That poor girl. I hope she heals up soon and the pain goes away completely for her!

I am SURE I'll run into a few things riding along on one of those. It will make good TR fodder, right?! I love how they beep when they back up too. Makes me always feel like a parade float or something. Did your Mom use one on the buses, or just in the parks?

Okay Biscuit! You're hired! You are so clever, do you want to come up with a TR title for me???:lmao::lmao:

Brooke,
I know that you are going to make the best of the situation at hand (you already are).

I have devoured many posts on the disAbilities thread and learned SO much about using an ECV while at Disney World - I feel pretty good about it now, and Joe and I talked a bit too, he calmed a few of my fears and we devised a good plan.

LOVE all of these....especially #2!!! :lmao:

Yay for the 5th!!!! :yay:

Isn't GB a riot?! :thumbsup2 I just might keep with that "It's a Great Big Bootiful Tomorrow"...

Oh Brooke I am so sorry about your foot!!! I am just getting updated and that stinks that your foot is not doing better. I hope everything works out well with the ECV. It is also exciting that you got into a Wishes Dessert party and can't wait to read all about it.

It is a big bummer about not feeling 100%, but I think we'll be just fine with the ECV. I'm taking the advice from here - it will be an adventure! As our trips always seem to be.

I'm so sorry to hear your foot does not seem to be healing as fast as you thought it might. :flower3: I think the ECV is a great idea, as you'll be able to enjoy the trip without being in pain. I'll be interested to hear your experiences with it as well, as I know we'll need one for my dad next time we take him.

And :woohoo: for one week!!!

I will be sure to report back the fun and folly with the ECV. I'm sure I'll run into a few things, perhaps get stuck somewhere (I almost once got stuck between two displays at Target...) and who knows what else! I'm most curious about how it works with the ride lines, as I don't really need to take it directly onto any ride that has adaptable vehicles for it - I can get off and walk into a ride vehicle....

SO sorry about the boot-hoped you could give it "the boot" Congrats on the Wishes and dessert party YUM. Can't wait to read the TR.

GB those were awesome!

I was hoping to give it the boot too! :guilty: I think it's been 5 weeks now instead of 3. Perhaps even 6? Sigh.

BUT, I know there is an end to it. It might be just wearing the boot a bit longer, or it might be something more serious - but it will end!

The wishes party will be grand! It's good to see you got it booked.

Tracy is awesome. If you ask her nicely she might share some of the ECV loading videos for some of the rides. Some are quite interesting.

The boot titles are a scream!!! :rotfl2:

Lots of updates lately! I should be cleaning the house, or packing - but I'm here, with my feet up. :thumbsup2 Packing and cleaning will have to wait for another day.

This is probably going to be a very boring post, so I'll end it with some pretty pictures.

On the ECV/EVC (which is it?) front...after some discussion with Joe and weighing of the options, I have decided to not rent an ECV from an off-site company.

Instead, when we go to the parks, I will assess how I'm doing and determine if I need and ECV. Chances are the answer will be yes, unless I receive a divine healing from God between now and then!

So, we will rent it from the park. We figured we will be arriving early enough in the day that they shouldn't have run out, and it's a lower crowd time as well. The cost is a bit higher in the park; however, we decided this would be better for a few reasons:

If I do determine I don't need it, then we aren't stuck with the cost from the off-site company
We won't need to find a place to park it in our hotel room
We won't have to think about waiting for the right bus that can accommodate the ECV
I won't have to maneuver it onto the bus

#4 holds the most weight.

I really did not want to deal with navigating it onto a bus and then off again. Might sound silly, but it's true.

Plus, I CAN walk. I walk quite a bit at work/home with the boot-I just can't do 3+ miles a day in the boot. When we are just resort hopping or going to MK for the Wishes Dessert Party, I can walk - I won't have to think about the ECV.

So, the current plan is, wear the big boot on the plane, pack the small boot in the luggage. Rent an ECV as needed from the parks. If necessary, also rent a push wheelchair from CSR for around the resort. Joe already said he'd push me around. :goodvibes

I really like this plan, I'm comfortable with it and confident. :thumbsup2

I'm also working on The Plan 1.3...I'll try to post that tomorrow or Sunday.

Onto pretty pictures!

Oh boy - ECV loading videos! I can only imagine. I am sure I won't be the most smooth, but thankfully I do have some experience over the past weeks from shopping.

Who is Tracy? I think I must have missed that somewhere along the way...is she on the disAbilities board?

I just booked the Wishes party for our trip too! I am so excited. Can't wait to find out how you liked it.

I agree, you need to take care of yourself. If Momma ain't happy, nobody's happy!

:yay: Glad you got it booked too!!! It looks just awesome, doesn't it?

You are right, Joe gets all worked up if I'm not happy/he knows I'm in pain. And I get GRUMPY. It will ruin my trip if I'm in pain, so I gotta do whatever I can to avoid that! :thumbsup2

Brooke,
I would really think about what is important to be close to at CSR before your trip...and perhaps change your request to match that. I think you will be fine on the buses no matter where you are, but if you want to be by the main building... make a request and have perhaps call and explain your situation. You get in sooooo late, you need to have the "perfect" room waiting!

Your EVC plan sounds like a good one - the whole getting it on/off the bus would freak me out!! Nice to know that you won't have to worry about it (plus, having Joe has your personal chauffeur for around the resort - BONUS!)

Love all your pictures. And you asked about Stacy. She's still there, but in a very, very, very tamed down version. (the new version isn't even on You Tube! Must say something about it!) I should know... Noah wanted to watch her show over and over and over - it put him to sleep so I guess it's an okay thing!! "Have fun doin'" She wasn't as perky, which was an okay thing in my book!

Have a great time at the dessert party - we loved it! A much more peaceful way to wait for the Fireworks to start!

So sorry your foot is still bothering you. My DS15 had a boot on during a visit to King's dominion. He did fine, but then again, he is a kid! I think your plan to rent the ECV at the park is a good idea. I know I could never drive one of those things on and off the bus. It sounds like you have a good plan. I agree that the extra cost of getting one at the parks is worth not having to run it off and on buses and having it take up space in the room. That's what I was going to do if it came down to it, too. I wish you didn't have to have it at all, but I surely know what it is like walking around in pain, and that's no good. I think your decision on the ECV sounds good. I was actually thinking about suggesting just what you are plannning now, but did not want to bother you with even another alternative and also thought you might want it for moving around CSR. Whew! Busy weekend around here....but I have very good news...my foot is doing GREAT! I woke up on Saturday morning with zero pain and NO swelling. I couldn't believe it. Just days ago I literally was hobbling the moment I got out of bed! Even on my "good foot week", I still had minor swelling. This is awesome!

So a huge, huge thank you for your thoughts and prayers. They WORK!:yay::yay::yay:

I am still going to be on the cautious side though and allow my plans to cater to the Boot and ECV. Time will only tell if it will be needed!

Brooke,
I would really think about what is important to be close to at CSR before your trip...and perhaps change your request to match that. I think you will be fine on the buses no matter where you are, but if you want to be by the main building... make a request and have perhaps call and explain your situation. You get in sooooo late, you need to have the "perfect" room waiting!

I requested the Cabanas building that is near the pool/playground and bus stop, I think 9B? It's a bit more of a haul to El Centro, but I figured we'll be hitting the bus stop most often. That is a good idea to call about my situation though, then we are most likely to get it.

What a fab pic of DeVine! I am hoping my parents will be able to see her when we go.

Thanks! It was really neat to see her. We just missed her one time, and her handler said to come back at a certain time for another showing, so we made a point of it - she has a little area she walks around in now, it would be nice if they would put her on the regular park schedule too!

Brooke, I have actually toured the world in a boot twice. Once I used an ECV and once I did not. I say go for the ECV! By the way when I flew with the boot on, security did not make me take it off but they did test it for gunpowder residue.:)

Oh wow, twice! I cannot even imagine how exhausted you would be without and ECV! :faint: I get tired just walking around a store!

What gorgeous pictures Brook!! I really like the one of the Spectro with the castle in the background!!!

I think renting at the parks is a great idea and will allow you more of the freedom and probably make you more comfortable!!!

Thanks! That is one of my favorite pictures from Spectro because it's Cinderella's carriage and it looks like they are headed up to her castle. :goodvibes It was so, so pretty!

I miss the French Toast Loaf too! It's so sad that they retired it!!!!! I don't understand why they would if it was as popular as it seems. :confused3

I'll be sure to bring back a full review and pictures of the Dessert Party!

I think it is a great idea that you are going to rent from the park when needed! I couldn't imagine trying to maneuver that thing onto and off of the bus!! Good call ;).

Did you take all of those pictures? They are gorgeous!! Really looking forward to your TR!!

I know it, the whole bus thing just worried me way too much. It would have been an ordeal!

Yep! We (Joe or I) took all those pics! We are both into photography a bit and have a different eye for it, which makes for a great assortment of pictures. Plus we take a LOT, like 3,000 per trip. :rolleyes1 And our camera is a nice one-it does all the hard work! Thank you for the compliment! Hopefully we can snag some good ones this trip too!

Eek! Just a few days away for you!! How cool!!! And Henry's response - adorable!! :goodvibes

That is so funny about Noah watching Stacy and falling asleep to her! :lmao: I wasn't a huge fan of Super Perky Stacy; however, just seeing her crazy self made me realize "we are in Disney World" and we watched her every single morning! Maybe now we'll watch her at night...;)

We are looking forward to that "peaceful way to wait" thing. Corralling a toddler to sit on a curb, NOT an easy task!

I don't have a Twitter account - that is a good idea though. Our cell phones are very NOT fancy, I wonder though if it's just like sending a text message? We don't have that on our plan, but it's only 10 cents to send, so a small price to pay to share the World with you all!

Brook---soo totally jealous you are leaving for WDW but that just means my own trip is getting closer!! Take lots of pictures and I hope Henry will love seeing dut dut again!! I will look forward to your two trip reports to tide me over until my trip!! LOL! Have a great time!!

Your trip really is getting here quickly! You started your ticker at like 10 months didn't you? Where did our summer go! Henry is excited about dining with Tigger, seeing Mickey, Dut Dut, GOOFY, and of course, Lightning McQueen! :goodvibes

Good call with the ECV! I would be a nervous wreck trying to maneuver one of those things on a bus too, so I totally get where your coming from with that.

Thanks for all the pictures - can't wait to see more when you get back!!

Taking the bus out of the equation just makes it seem so much easier and simpler. It kinda irks me to pay more for less time, but the extra money is worth the less hassle I think!

That picture of Jenry with Donald's adorable!!! Good luck with the ECV (it'll all work out fine) and have a great trip!!! I just saw this morning that the MK's already decorated for Halloween. I can't imagine being down there when it's 80-degrees out and celebrating Halloween  I love the fall but this is too early!!

Thank you! He was giving "Dut Dut" lots of good-bye hugs that morning. It was very sweet!

I cannot imagine it being Halloween yet either - though the temps we are having in MN are very much "late September/early October" temps versus August. :headache:

Stumbled on this on Disneystore.com. You need to get this for Henry when you are in the parks! They are squeeze toys; great for the tub or pool!

http://as7.disneystore.com/is/image/DisneyShopping/400128280580?$full$

Oh.my.goodness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES! I will be keeping my eye out for it. PERFECT bath toys! He's always wanting to bring his McQueen (and Mack) into the tub, and now we can say YES. Thank you!!!

Your pics are really wonderful. I always admire your photographic skills, you truly have an exe for great pcitures!! :goodvibes

I think your decision on the ECV sounds good. I was actually thinking about suggesting just what you are plannning now, but did not want to bother you with even another alternative and also thought you might want it for moving around CSR. I agree with a PP that it would be worth it that you change your room request and have noted that it is due to a medical need!! :thumbsup2

Thank you! :goodvibes And we love taking the bazillion pictures we do - that camera hardly gets put away! This trip we also hope to do more video.

I really think that's a great idea on the room request thing. I requested a building that I think will work out great for us - with or without the boot. It's close to the pool and playground and bus stop. A further walk to the main building, but I know we'll be hitting the bus stop the most.

Hey Brook-I haven't posted in a while. So sorry your foot is not back to 100%!! Sounds like you have a great plan though. I cannot believe you are so close!! The dessert party sounds great & I cannot wait to hear all about it. Have a wonderful time & I will be thinking about you & all the fun you will be having.

I can't believe we are so close either! These past two weeks have been busy around here, so they have FLOWN by, I've barely been on the DIS at all. I was really hoping to catch up before we left, but who knows if it will happen! Thank you for the well wishes on the trip!!!

I think your plan for the ECV and boot looks fabulous! I think I would do the same! I totally understand not wanting to have to navigate on and off the buses and wait for the right bus! It just seems like a hassle!

I wonder if you can get special bordering for the plane trip with the boot! They let people in wheelchairs on first. I'm thinking that, if you could and would do it, it would give you guys that much more time to get situated and get Henry settled! Just a thought!

You have to take tons of pictures of the Wishes Dessert Party for me! It mat have worked it's way into our trip in Oct some how ;) but I'll be posting that in an update today!

It really is wonderful being able to walk and have no pain! I'm still trying to take it easy, just to be wise about it all and not send myself back to square 1. Tonight was a busy night with last minute errands - so LOTS of walking, but tonight I'm off the feet and DISin'! :thumbsup2

I cannot believe we leave the day after tomorrow! This past week has really slipped through my fingers, I feel like the trip should still be a week away!

I think NWA, which we are flying, usually allows parents with children to board first (after 1st class) if they would like to. We usually don't take advantage with the thought "the less time on the plane, the better!" but this time we probably will just to get the car seat situated without a million people coming down the aisle. If I wear the boot through the airport, I will ask on that too-good idea!

Oh, no worries on the pics! I'll be sure to document it! ;) I hope I get to read your update tonight! I have sooooo much DISing to do-and I'm behind on PMs too! :headache:

Your picture of "Devine" is...well.....devine! LOL! I love it! Did you stay at Pop on a past trip. Thats my favorite (and only onsite place I've stayed!)

Yep! We stayed at Pop just for one night in November. I loved the lobby and how it sparkles - the whole theming of the resort is just awesome! I hope to stay there again sometime for a longer stay.

Glad your foot is feeling better! Almost time for Disney World!! :cool1:

Thanks!! I'm THRILLED it's better, such a relief! I can't believe our trip is just about here!!!! :woohoo:

I still love that Spectromagic picture with the Castle in the background. Where were you sitting again to get that??

When you are on Main Street looking at the Castle, we were sitting on the left - just a bit after Casey's. Next to a garbage can in case we wanted to use it as a tripod. I would say maybe 1 or 2 garbage cans up from Casey's closer to the Castle.

I'm measuring in garbage cans! :rotfl:

Yes it has! Especially this last year - just floooooown right on by. I'm sure they get quicker and quicker!

I have been away from the Dis for too long methinks, because I do believe I somehow missed the whole saga of your foot. Glad to read that you're doing better this week. How exciting that your trip is so soon! Can't wait to read your trip report.

Foot saga summary: Pain, swelling. Ouch. Don't know what I did. For about 2 months and I finally suck it up and go the Dr. He thinks its my tendon (no MRI to prove it). I get Big Boot. He says 3 weeks. After 3 weeks, it's pretty good, I ween out of it too quick. Have one good foot week with a Small Boot, and then major pain creeps back in. I behave for another 2 weeks and now, no pain! :thumbsup2

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes for Henry! I will be sure to read them to him tomorrow morning!!

Last night during Henry's bath he took one of his bath crayons and drew a circle on the wall.

Then he drew two more circles.

Then he pointed, looked at Joe and said "Mahee." Which means Mickey in Henry's language.

He drew Mickey Mouse!

Okay, well...most people would just see a scribble, but Joe and I saw Mickey! Now that I look again, it kinda looks like Dumbo with those big circle ears!

And look at that mop of hair! Good thing we are going to be at MK on FRIDAY with a hair cut on the agenda! :yay:

Truly, this week has completely escaped me. We have been busy with just your average things in life, but they have left me exhausted and no time for being on the DIS. I very much want to catch up on everyone's TRs and PTRs before I leave, but I do not know if it will happen. So to everyone, if I don't make it to yours-I'm sorry. I will do my best to catch up when I get back! :goodvibes

The Plan 1.3
Here is The Plan 1.2, and my small changes are in RED:

Wednesday, September 2:
Arrival to property probably right around midnight
SLEEP

Thursday, September 3:
Wake up in WDW!! Allow Henry to be our alarm clock
Animal Kingdom
Explore AKV-Kidani
Evening Options: MK for Spectro/Wishes, DTD, Resort Relaxin', resort exploring

Friday, September 4:
Wake up early - Crystal Palace breakfast with Pooh & friends at 8:25 am
MK
Possible Afternoon Break
Explore BLT - since BLT is on lock-down, I don't know if this will be possible
MK closes at 7:00 pm this day, it's the first MNSSHP.
Evening Options: DTD, Resort Relaxin', Hallowishes from the Poly Beach, park hop, resort exploring.

Saturday, September 5:
Allow Henry to be our alarm clock
Breakfast at the Main Street Bakery. Oh yes.
Epcot
MK Wishes Dessert Party @ 9:00 pm

Sunday, September 6:
Wake up early (in attempts to make RD)
Breakfast at CSR
DHS
Sci-Fi lunch @ 11:20
Possible afternoon break
Evening Options: Illuminations, DTD, Resort Relaxin', park hop, resort exploring

Monday, September 7:
Departure day
Mad dash to a park of choice! If I'm sore, we'll probably do some Resort Relaxin' instead.
Board UNMagical Express around Noon

So, not much changed - just a few minor adjustments with the Wishes Dessert Party. Our days are planned on what park, but our evenings (except one!) are left open on purpose. :thumbsup2 We'll just see what strikes our fancy at that moment!

And how will you know where we are at any given time? By TWITTER! Yep, I made a Twitter account. Thanks for the suggestion/urge MeMom!

Confession Time:
I am the World's Slowest Text Messeger. I'm pathetically slow. While my job revolves around looking at and fixing broken software, I can barely use a cell phone. So forgive me in advance if things are spelled incorrectly - I just do not want to go back and fix the boo-boo. I also haven't a clue how to send a picture. So, if I figure that out between now and then-you'll get pics, otherwise, just text.

Here is our account: https://twitter.com/joebrookhenry

And, as many of you have already noted-tomorrow is Henry's birthday. Joe made a comment to me on our drive home from work today, "Two years ago we were at the hospital, not knowing what would happen or how it would all go." We were nervous and scared. I had no idea what laid before me.

And it's been the very best two years of my life. I am blessed.

At the moment, I don't have time for replies, but if I do before we leave the house, I will be sure to get back on here! :goodvibes

The bags are packed. And we did make it in just a few carry-ons! :thumbsup2
The house is clean.
Joe is all studied up for his test.
We had a great mini-birthday party for Henry last night, eating wayyyy too much chocolate.

And, there is still ANOTHER load of laundry to do.

Seriously, does that ever end? :rotfl:

It's not laundry we need, thank goodness, but I just like to have things DONE before we go. So, we'll see how much further I get with that before we have to leave...;)

Usually the night before a trip I can hardly sleep. Last night I slept HARD! Of course I woke up before the alarm with excited butterflies in my stomach...but that just got me up and out of bed to start working on all these last minute things.

WE LEAVE FOR MICKEY MOUSE'S HOUSE TODAY!!!!

Thank you everyone for the sending off well wishes! If I don't make it back on here today, I'll chat with ya in about a week!

Going waaaaaaaaaaay back on the replies....

I am getting caught back up after life got in the way of Dising!

I can't believe you are leaving in 2 days! I will be looking forward to your trip report and I'll have to check out your Twitter page. Have a fabulous time!

:bday: Happy 2nd Birthday to Henry!! He is such a grown up boy. Those pictures of him are too precious. It makes me so sad to think of my own little boy turning two in less than a month now! It just goes by sooo fast. Hugs to you on the mommy guilt- don't feel too bad, at least he will be having a fun daddy day.

Oh, and I love Henry's "Mahee!" I think it's a good resemblance. :lmao:

Henry really did have a great day with his Daddy, and the impromptu birthday party (and the week at Disney!) made up for me missing most of his actual birthday. Hopefully it will be the LAST one I miss for a long time though!

Wasn't that a great drawing? :rotfl: Looked JUST like Mickey! ;)

That would be me. I don't have ECV loading videos, I have ones ofmy Bill masterfully using power wheelchair  . I am so happy to hear about your foot, but please, please take it easy.

I am certain I would have been ramming into all sorts of random objects with an ECV! I bet Bill is perfectly graceful with his wheelchair-I was really observant of the wheelchairs and ECVs on this trip being I was almost in one-I was amazed at how smoothly some people could zip around in them, on and off buses, through little line queues, etc!

Happy Birthday Henry!!! :cool1: Such a big boy you are! And a fabulous Mickey artist!! Love it, Love it, Love it!!!

And here's a  for you, Mom. You're doing an amazing job at being an awesome mom!!

Happy packing the rest of the way... you guys are going to have a fun trip!

Oh, Thank you--such sweet words!!! Looking back on Henry's actual birthday, work went well-and I got little updates from Joe throughout the day. It went about as good as it could have. :thumbsup2

And I do think I have a possible artist on my hands, eh?

Herzliche Glückwünsche zum Geburtstag Henry!

(As you might have guessed, that's Happy Birthday in German...)

I hope you will get through your day at work without feeling too lousy, but I am sure Henry and Joe will have a wonderful day together. The pictures of him are so cute!

Have a magical trip, your plans sound great! I hope you will enjoy RD :goodvibes and I hope your foot will be good. Don't run around too much before your trip!! :lmao: But I really hope that you are on the mend! I once had tendon problems and once they started to heal I found out that walking actually helped, propably because it got warmed up and help the blood circulation. So I hope it will work out like that for you as well. :thumbsup2

I LOVE the Happy Birthday in German!!!!!!!!! I should really copy that somewhere and send it to my Mom on her birthday, she would probably recognize it enough to know what it was and really enjoy it!

That is very interesting about how walking helped your tendon. I don't know if that was the case with me, I did have some very minor pain late in the evening on a couple of the days of our trip, but it was so small that I just put IcyHot on before bed and was ready to go by the next day! And since we've been home, I've been completely fine too. I really hope I'm DONE with it all.

Happy Birthday, Henry!
:bday:

Have a great time with Daddy today at the tractor store!

party:

And all of you have a super awesome time on your trip! I hope the pain is kind to you and leaves you alone during the entire trip.

P.S. We are looking forward to following you around on Twitter!

Thank you!! Henry DID have a great time with his Da Da at the tractor store, and also Menards and Best Buy (big TV's and phones at such a height where a toddler can just reach them and pull on them!). What a day it was! :goodvibes

Happy Birthday to Henry!!! He is such a clever boy to draw a Mickey! :goodvibes

Isn't he though? My budding Picaso. ;)

Happy Birthday Henry!! I too am struggling on whether I should take off for Caleb;s 1st birthday on the 25th!! Its his 1st---but I don;t have any time as I just started the job but I think I might ask for a half day!! He goes to sleep soo early that I would have missed most of the day with him.

I hope you are able to get it off! Henry's 1st birthday landed right on Labor Day, so it worked out very nicely. I hope you are able to get at least a half day so you don't miss it all, but can do a bit of something special with him!

Can you believe he's 1 already?!? And this next year goes even faster. :guilty:

:bday:party: HAPPY BIRTHDAY HENRY!!!!!

I can't believe how close your trip is Brook! I'm so excited for you guys!!!!! I wish you a great time!!! Henry looked so cute in the bathtub and don't worry I'm a Hidden Mickey fanatic and that was definitely a great Hidden Mickey...Henry has talent LOL!!!

Love your plans!!

:lmao: Thanks Jen! It's official, that WAS Mickey!! :goodvibes LOL

Happy Birthday to Henry! Don't feel back about not taking the day off. You're a good mom for saving that PTO for Disney trips!

The foot saga sounds awful. Glad you've been behaving and have less pain.

p.s. I just followed you on twitter!

I kinda figured, one more day in Disney, or take his birthday off and bum around town....one more day in Disney won out! It was a good decision. :goodvibes

Gotta get some sleep....more replies tomorrow!

Happy 2nd birthday Henry!!!

I'm thinking of you today Brook! Don't feel gulity!!! Your taking him to Disney World tomorrow! That's the best possible way to celebrate his 2nd birthday! I hope Henry and Joe have a great Daddy/son day out today!!

I love Henry's Mickey on the bathtub wall!!!!!! I see mickey too, but that could be the mom in me too!

It stinks that DVC members can't get into BLT!! I was thinking of taking a little side trip over there as well but I guess not! I wonder if we said I'm thinking adding on BLT points..." if they'd let us in?! Probably not!

Yippeee for twitter!! I have to get over there now so I can keep up with you! I have a twitter account already but have never used it!!

Good luck with all the last minute stuff and have a FABULOUS TRIP  if you don't get back to Dis before you leave!

I did read BLT has a model room that is open to the public for a few hours a day - but even that isn't want we wanted, we've seen the models. We wanted to wander around the lobby, check out the community room, etc. I wonder if they will always keep it under lock-down, or if it's just for right now since it's so new?

Happy Birthday Henry...:bday:

Brook-good luck on that foot...you never know what a little Disney magic might just do...pixiedust:

An appropriate AKL "cake"! How cool!

Happy Birthday Henry!

Brooklynn picked these smilies for you. popcorn:::santa:pirate:pirate::wizard:

Aw, thanks Brooklynn! I bet Henry's favorite would be the popcorn guy--he loooooooves popcorn! :goodvibes

No Mommy Guilt--- you are taking him on a trip to celebrate and plannning to do what he wants- thinking of you today. I get teary eyes on my kids birthday's (and the days before and after) too.

You are right-I did remind myself a few times that day that we were taking him on a trip, so we'd have a whole week of celebrating going on! (and we really did!)

Happy Birthday Henry!

Thank you! That's such a cute little Pooh sign.

I'm following you on Twitter!

And Happy Birthday to Henry! Have a safe trip!

Hope you enjoyed all the updates! I tried to share enough, but also hold some stuff back for the TR.

Happy

Birthday

HENRY

Brook, I just love the pictures you posted of Henry from birth to now. What a cutie!! I know you are so excited about your little guy turning 2!:lovestruc My Alexa will be 2 on the 28th and I cant believe how time flies!
I just wanted to send you some pixie dust:wizard: for a Teriffic trip with great weather, no sickness and lots memories to be made!! Have a great time! Wish I was going with you:rolleyes1

I hadn't read this until now, but that pixie dust worked! We really did have great weather, (pretty much) no sickness (it really hardly counts!), and soooooo many wonderful memories. I can't wait to start the TR!

party:HAPPY BIRTHDAY HENRY have fun, fun, fun, today.:simba::stitch::dumbo::sulley::tigger:

Thank you!!! We did have a fun birthday. After I get all these replies wrapped up, I have some "improptu birthday party" pictures to share!

Happy birthday, Henry!!! :goodvibes

I love the Mickey!! :yay:

Isn't he so very talented?

Happy Birthday Henry!!! Us September babies are the best! ;)

If I don't get back over here, I hope you all have a fabulous trip!! :wizard:

I agree, September babies are the best! :thumbsup2 I was born in June and always SO jealous of the kids in my grade that had birthdays early in the school year because they were "older than me".

What sweet pictures. :goodvibes:

NO MOMMY GUILT! It's not allowed. Like Laura said, you are taking him to Disney World to celebrate his b-day, he's very lucky. :)

He is a lucky kid, isn't he? His Mommy and Da Da are WDW obsessed! Hopefully he grows up liking it. ;) I did get over the Mommy Guilt about part way through the day - Joe kept me updated of what they were doing and work was sane, so it wasn't so bad!

Happy birthday Henry!! I hope he has a super day with Daddy!

He really did! McDonalds - and Joe even let him dip his apples in the caramel sauce. The Tractor Store, Menards AND Best Buy. And later he got chocolate after dinner, then Grammy and Poppa showed up with MORE CHOCOLATE (and a present!). The little one couldn't stop smiling. :goodvibes

Aww, happy birthday to Henry!

Just added you on twitter (I'm mugirl0307). Have a great time on your trip!

Thank you for following along! I hope you enjoyed the live updates-it really was fun to do...I think it's going to be a keeper for all future trips. I gotta get it synced up with my Facebook and learn to do pictures for December.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HENRY!!!!!!

I also hope you guys have a great trip and flight! I don't have Twitter so will have to wait until you get home for updates. Have a great time!

It's "Keen!" Henry loves him some "Keen" (Lightning McQueen). :goodvibes Just wait until our DHS day....:rolleyes1:goodvibes

:yay:HAPPY BIRTHDAY HENRY!!!!!!!!!:yay:

Have a wonderful trip Brook!!! Can't wait to hear all about it!!!!!:goodvibes
ps- no Mommy guilt allowed, you're taking your baby boy to Disney World tomorrow!!!!!!!;)

That is what I reminded myself several times during the day. How many 2 year olds can says they have been to Disney World 3 times? Not many...no Mommy Guilt allowed!

Thanks GB!!

Happy 2nd Birthday Henry!

I almost ordered that exact cake for his birthday party (coming up on the 19th). I still might...I'm trying to save a buck and go simple with a chocolate box cake that I know Henry will FLIP over (it has a "molten" part too...oh so good)...then I'll stick a car in it! Same to a 2 year old, right? :rotfl:

Glad to hear the foot is much better! Still be careful while you're there; don't overdo it! Loved the photo progression! What a cutie!

Have a great trip! I don't twitter, so I'll just be waiting for your TR!

I was really careful with my foot-always taking advantage of a seat when I could. Joe is such a good hubby and always made me sit on the bus before he would too. :lovestruc

Another Happy Birthday wish for Henry! I loved the photos you posted of him! It's so cute to see him as the little guy and now he is 2!! :goodvibes

I can't believe he is TWO! It's so amazing to watch him learn and grow. Even just this week he grew up some. Sometime here I'll get my act together and post all the monthly pictures we have done of him on the couch, then we'll really see the progress!

Love all your TR & PTR! Henry's first pics are adorable! That's so cute with the candy bar!
I'm following you on Twitter. I'm always looking for people to follow who love Disney. Are you going to be tweeting a little on your trip? Look forward to reading more!

My MIL bought us a bag of Oh, Henry's! When she found out when named him Henry. I couldn't resist having him "pose" with one.

Sorry I didn't get to this reply before the trip, but I hope you did notice I tweeted all along during the trip. I tried to let everyone in on a bit, but hold some fun stuff back too!

Happy Birthday Henry!! Have a great trip.

Thank you!! We really did...I can't wait to start the TR!

Happy Birthday Henry!!

So glad to hear your foot is feeling better. Hope you have a wonderful trip. Looking forward to hearing all about it!

Thank you! I was SO happy my foot held out for the trip. I don't think I've ever been so grateful for the ability to walk!

Happy birthday Henry-man!

Hope your trip is as magical as ever!

Thank you!!! It was full of magic!

Have a great trip!!!

Thank you!

Hey Brook! Hope I didn't miss ya!

Bon Voyage... have a safe, wonderful, pixie-dusted trip!! pixiedust:

Give Henry a Birthday kiss from me!

Kathy

I don't think you missed me, but I hadn't read this until now, :rotfl2: I will be sure to smother Henry with kisses this morning when he wakes up as a belated birthday smooch! :goodvibes

Have a great trip, Brook!!! :goodvibes

Thank you!!!

Hey, that's what I was gonna say!

Have an awesome time! I hope you get the camera stuff going so we can really 'be there' this week. It will make our next few days so much happier! Hope that foot holds up. Bye!

CP stole your words, eh? :rotfl:

Sorry I didn't figure out the picture part...I'm not even sure my phone is fancy enough to do all that. I will look into it for the December trip...but I guess that won't help YOU much. ;)

Have a magical and wonderful trip, Brook, Joe and Henry!!:banana:

Thank you!!

Wishing you an amazing trip Brook, Joe, and Henry filled with tons of magic and pixie dust :wizard:

Can't wait to hear all about and see your pictures!

I can't wait to start posting them! Joe started uploading them yesterday and just looking back over them got me all excited again. I didn't take hardly ANY notes this time, so hopefully the pictures and receipts jog my memory enough.

:jumping1: Yippeee!!! WDW here you come! Have a magical vacation!!!

Just think, I'm sure you already are, tomorrow morning you'll be waking up in WDW and enjoying a magical morning! Just don't drink the nescafe:rolleyes1:scared:

I LOVED that we could say that "tomorrow morning we'll be waking up in WDW!" and yes, Nescafe was completely avoided.

Have a wonderful trip!

Thank you!!!

YAY Brook, you're going to Mickey's house today!!!!!!!!!:yay: I"m so excited for you guys!! And can't wait to hear all about it!

Good luck getting the last minute stuff done, good luck to Joe with his test and I hope Henry had a very happy birthday and loves this trip even more than the last!!! He's at such a good age!!!!!:cloud9:

Safe travels!!!!:goodvibes

All those last minute things are such a pain...and they add up so quickly! I think there is just a few things left and suddenly I turn around and my list grows. :headache: But, it's all worth it!

Henry was at an AWESOME age for WDW! We knew he truly had a great time. It was so much for for Joe and I to experience it all through his eyes again!

Wishing you safe and happy travels! :yay:

Thank you!!!

:woohoo: Safe travels! :woohoo:

I am amazed that you fit everything on carry-ons! That's great! Can't wait to "hear" all about it. :)

Thanks!! I was pretty amazed too, but I learned a new style of packing that I think really helped a lot. However, after going through the airport and all with the bags, a stroller, a toddler, and a car seat---I'm thinking we'll fork over the money to check our luggage in December! We'll see...more on that soon...:goodvibes

Have a wonderful trip, Brook!! :goodvibes

Oh, man. Henry's birthday is making me realize Jacques' is coming up soon! AHH! Our little boys are growing up so fast!! :scared1:

When is Jacques' birthday? It is kinda strange having a child old enough to answer the question "How old are you?" But, so far, it's a GREAT age.

Have an amazing trip and take lots of pictures!!!!

We didn't take quite as many as usual....just 1,995 this time versus the normal, 2,500. I think we still have a pretty well documented trip being we were only there for 4 full days! ;)

I hope it's a wonderful week Brook! Can't wait to hear all about it!

I really can't wait to start the TR! Still working on that TR title...I have one, but it will only half make sense until almost the end of the trip!

Hope you have a trip filled with pixit dust! pixiedust:

"See" you when you get back!

Thank you! It was full of pixie dust, lots of little fun things!

I hope you have a fantastic trip!

Thank you!

Have the best trip ever! :cool1: Happy and Safe Traveling! :thumbsup2

I think this was one of our best trips ever...truly! Time went by slowly somehow (when does that ever happen in WDW?!) and the non-existent lines were just INCREDIBLE. We covered the parks so easily! Plus, it was so much fun to watch Henry experience everything!

We may do DHS on Sunday too:thumbsup2

Were you there on Sunday? I didn't see ANY DISers (well, any self-identified DISers) this trip. And thank you for coming out of lurkdom and posting! :goodvibes I hope to "see" you again!

It's here, it's here!! :)

Wishing you safe travels and loads of fun together!! YAHOO!!!! :dance3:

Have a great trip and Happy (belated) Birthday to Henry!

Hope you are having a great trip! Cannot wait to read the report! :goodvibes

Thank you everyone!!!!

:goodvibesHope you are having a great trip! Can't wait to see if Henry gets another cookie!:lmao:

Joe was pretty excited about seeing if it would happen again too. We'll see.....:goodvibes

Anyone here from Brook Via twitter?

:cool1: Yes!!! Brook tweeted quite a bit over their trip! I was really neat to follow along!!

She wrote about 2 hours ago that they were wait for unmagical express back to the airport :( I checked again when I saw your post and she just wrote again a few minutes "security is so much fun with a little one" I feel her pain on that one!!!

Oh the joys of security with 287292 bags (equating to even more bins!), and a toddler that wants to touch everything!

Ahhh brook!! sorry to hear security is rough with a little one!! Can't wait for Feb then!! LOL!!

It's funny going through security with a little one...you literally can spot the people in line with those "Oh, been there, done that." looks on their faces (they usually have older children and "get it") or those that are just annoyed and switch lines. I don't let ANY of it get to me and I don't rush--sorry folks. I have a little one, and yes, we have THAT much luggage. It's gonna take some time! Thankfully, the airports have started the "family lines", so those are always my kindred spirits and the line isn't expected to move very fast!

Brook I am thinking about you today & your return. Cannot wait to read all about it. I hope you had a magical trip & that your foot was ok.

My foot was GREAT! (as you probably now know by my mini-post). I really can't wait to start the TR!

Wow she's on her way back. That sure flew by!

Thankfully it somehow went SLOWLY for me! I've never had a trip move slowly, but this one did. It was awesome!

Can't wait to hear all about it! I don't have Twitter (can barely keep up with Myspace and Facebook! :rotfl2: ) but I know you had fun and made the best out of everything. I'm so excited to hear what you have to say!!! I absolutely can't wait to see Henry in all of his new pictures! :lovestruc

I hope you guys make it home safely and we're waiting patiently... :cool1:

Heather

We have some really fun pictures of Henry this trip. He was so animated at various things...ahhh! I love looking back at them and can't wait to share them all! I can't keep up on Facebook either - I try, but between that and the DIS and a new blog I started - HA!! My Twitter will just be for WDW trips and posting live. Perhaps other trips as well - I think it will make it easier to write the TR too!

Hope you had a magical trip. Can't wait to see all the pics and hear about your adventures. Welcome Home.

Thank you! I can't wait to start on it all!

Welcome home Brook!! I can't believe how fast this week went by for me...hope it didn't go as fast for you!!!:sad2: Can't wait to hear all about it!!!!!:yay:

It went slowly!! I think the sun stood still or something - really, I couldn't believe how slowly time went by being we were there for such a short time. :thumbsup2

And now we countdown to the Christmas trip! :santa:

Hope your time was magical.

By the way, how much Mickey bar can Henry get on his toes???

That is RIGHT! ADR time is just around the corner and I haven't any clue yet! I gotta get my act together with it.

It's AMAZING how much Mickey Bar can end up on a child's TOES. I think you might know a thing or two about that one though... I thought of Brooklynn all during the Beauty and the Best show...:goodvibes

Welcome back Brook!! I loved the Twitter updates! I kept telling my hubby "they are doing this now" :lmao: By the end of the trip he figured out who you were - I think! ;)

:lmao: Love it! Glad you enjoyed the updates! Joe has had enough DIS exposure to understand, and he's come to really love hearing live updates - and random stories from "my friends on the Disney boards". :goodvibes

I'm wondering that too! I hope there are cute pictures! :mickeybar

:rotfl: It's amazing how much Mickey Bar can end up on other parts of the body on a toddler...and so quickly! Before you know it they are just covered. Good thing I just don't care when we are on vacation and I let my little one indulge and get MESSY! (of course I always have a wipe, a bib, and a change of clothes on hand...;))

Thanks so much for the Twitter. It sure was fun to check in and see what you were up too. I would find myself closing my eyes to envision what you had done! I hope CSR treated you well, and that your foot cooperated!

I'm so glad you enjoyed the Twitter updates! It was really fun to send them along too. Joe would encourage me to send updates too-we both really got into it.

Welcome Home! Loved your twitter updates! I hope you had a magical trip, but it sounds like you can't wait for the next 100 days to pass until your next trip. :goodvibes

Did you make it to rope drop? Was it worth it?

I can't wait for the next 100 days to pass! It seems so close, yet so far away too. If we can get that stinkin' airfare taken care of...

Rope drop....:rolleyes1

:welcome: home! Look forward to hearing about your trip!!

Thank you!! I really can't wait to start writing it all (before I forget the little details too! Eep!)

Welcome back! I joined the twitter bandwagon late but loved catching up all at once! Can't wait to hear more!! Hope it was totally magical! :goodvibes

Glad you were able to catch up on Twitter- it's like reading a mini-TR!

No corn dog nuggets?!?!?!

And :yay: no boot!

No corn dog nuggets? :faint:

I know, no corn dog nuggets. <hangs head in shame> Can you believe it??? There is a reason...and not a so bad one, but I am SERIOUSLY bummed they did not work themselves into the trip somehow. I think I'll have to have them twice in December.

And yes, NO BOOT! :woohoo: NO ECV! :woohoo::woohoo:

Welcome back! I enjoyed your Twitter updates! :thumbsup2

Thank you! Thanks for following along! It was really fun to see the emails come through when people followed along.

Welcome home!!

Can't wait to hear all about it!!!

Yay for no sickness (almost? Oh no!!), no lines (woohoo!) and no boot!!!?:woohoo: No corn nuggets? OH NO!!!

This sickness was barely anything, especially in comparison to the last two trips! I'll just leave it at that though....more on the upcoming TR!

I'm glad you got to give the boot the boot.

brookelizabeth
09-10-2009, 09:56 AM
So I would say that the three no's outweigh the no corn nuggets IMO! Can't wait to read all about it!

Most definitely!! The lack of corn dog nuggets is one of the very few things I'm a bit bummed about, but looking back over the trip, the good far outweighs those little things!

Welcome back!:wizard:

Thank you! I wish being back still meant I had time off work though. :rolleyes1

So glad you had a great trip! I enjoyed following along with your trip on twitter!! Can't wait to read more!!!

Glad to hear you enjoyed the updates! It was really fun to send them along too, I am pretty sure it's something I'll keep doing!

Welcome home, Brook!!! Hurray to no boot, no sickness, and no lines!!! Can't wait to get all the juicy details!

Our biggest hope was to not get sick this trip. Joe was really careful with what he ate, and I used sani wipes on Henry like nobody's business!

I have to say from my end, your trip went VERY fast!

No corn dog nuggets? :scared1: Wasn't that the point of this trip? ;)

3 out of 4 no's is a GOOD thing! Welcome home, I can't wait to hear all about it.

I know it! I was literally day dreaming of them on the flight down! :sad2:

Welcome back!!! I can't wait to read all about it. :goodvibes

Thanks! I might be able to get it started today!

Welcome back!! I enjoyed following you on Twitter. It was nice to imagine what ya'll were doing.

No corn dog nuggets? Hmmm...

The rest of the "No"s sound great! Can't wait to hear about your trip.

It was really fun to send the updates on Twitter too - and it's handy to look back and remember exactly where we were at the moment. Hopefully I can figure out the picture part too before December.

Wow! That went fast! I can't wait to read all about it :)

Thankfully for me it didn't fly by! It was a short trip, but time seemed to go slooooow, which was so nice!

No corn dog nuggets? WHAT?! :confused3 You love those things! :) Can't wait to hear the deal on this!

So glad you all are home safely and can't wait to hear about it and see your great pictures!! :worship:

Heather :)

:lmao: I know it! I couldn't believe they didn't end up in my hands at some point, but it never happened! Good thing we have the December trip, right?

hmmm...no corn dog nuggets? All I gotta say.....wow.

Corn dog nuggets and the Main Street Bakery are two of my favorite attractions at WDW too!

NO CORN DOG NUGGETS?!? How the heck did that happen?? BUT, :woohoo: for no boot & no lines!!

Welcome home, Brook - can't wait to read all about your trip AND start the count down until December with you! I'm starting to get excited now - just a week & a half and I can make ADRs!!

I know, I know! :rotfl: There are some reasons surrounding why corn dog nuggets didn't happen, but not a good reason! I'm really looking forward to December now! ;)

The lines were INCREDIBLE. It was awesome!

Our ADR time is just around the corner too....eek! I haven't any clue what to make yet!

YAY for having such a great trip!! I'm really enjoying the no lines part YAY!!!!!!!! I hope that trend continues in the next couple of weeks!!!! I'm glad sickness was to a minimum and that you had NO Boot!! YAY!!

You have some explaining to do as to why there was no indulgence of corn dog nuggets!!

I hope you guys hit the low crowds like we did. I haven't a clue if it was due to my excellent planning :cool2: :lmao: or just dumb luck, OR, if the crowds were truly that thin. We walked onto MANY rides!!

Welcome back! I can't wait to hear everything.:cool1:

Thanks!!! I can't wait to start!

Welcome back, Brook & Co.!! :yay: Can't wait to hear all about it!!

Kathy

Thank you!! I hope I can start it today!

After that teaser I can't wait to read more!

:goodvibes Hopefully today!

No corn dog nuggets??? Are you feeling ok?? ;)

Glad to hear the foot stayed better! What a relief!!!

:rotfl2: so true! Joe was pretty shocked I didn't stuff them in somewhere too. It was a GREAT relief not having to deal with the pain, the boot or an ECV. It sure made me even more aware of those in ECVs and wheelchairs though.

Welcome Home.
I have to know about the Wishes Dessert party!!!!

popcorn::popcorn::

I'll give you a hint: AWESOME.
(and I posted the pics already on the Food Pictures thread if you peruse that!)

Loved all your tweets!! Glad your back!

Thank you for following along on Twitter!!

Welcome back! Can't wait for your TR!

I can't wait to start it. I keep looking at the pics and getting excited to re-live it all!

Welcome Home! I was so glad to hear there was no boot for you! But I gotta say, the whole corn dog thing is creeping me out a bit. That's the sort of thing that leads to a cosmic imbalance.

:rotfl2: sorta throws off MK as a whole for me too! It was strange. In December I'll have to eat them twice. ;)

Welcome home Brooke! Wow, you must feel pretty popular to have so many posts since your return! :goodvibes We're all waiting for your soon-to-be fantastic TR! I am with everyone else, I loved the tweets, very fun to "follow" you while you were there. So bring on the details, the pictures and the cute Henry stories! :)

I am shocked at how many replies I have, and how many people followed along on Twitter! It is really fun knowing that many people are out there and interested! I hope I can keep everyone entertained, and help tide everyone over until their next trip!

I am really looking forward to telling some Henry stories...he's at such a great age!

Welcome back! It was really fun to keep up with your trip via Twitter. Next time you need to bring an iphone so you can reply back. ;)

Maybe you skipped out on the corn dog nuggets and stopped at the fair on your way home?

I didn't even know people could reply to my Tweets! How cool! Now I gotta log in and see if anyone said anything. An iPhone would be sooooo nice. Both Joe and I want one, but we are on T-Mobile....so perhaps if they ever aren't AT&T only we'll indulge! I want an app on my future iPhone for my grocery lists and couponing, might actually keep me organized!

We actually hit up the fair a few days before we left - I should share some pics from that here too...it was a MAD HOUSE! But, we still had a good time. And we did eat a foot long corn dog! Not quite the same though...;)

Welcome back. I'm looking forward to reading about your trip!

Thanks!! I'm looking forward to sharing it all!

Almost no sickness, no lines and no boot are AWESOME! Hurrah!! So excited for you. Can't wait to hear more. Hope the no lines thing extends for a few more weeks!:thumbsup2

I hope so too!!!!! Really, we walked onto so many things, FPs were hardly even needed!

Loved your Twitter updates, it made me get my own account... :rolleyes1 Very often I was thinking: "mhhh that's interesting, I wonder what the story is about that?" It made me really excited about reading your TR! :goodvibes

He he! I tried to share a little tidbit sometimes to entice some curiosity - looks like it worked! :goodvibes I just wanted to share enough of the magic, but also hold some fun details back. Now, I'm anxious to start the TR and share the stories!

Welcome back Brook! Sounds like you had a great trip and how FANTASTIC - no boot and no ECV! :cool1:

We did have a great trip!! And not having the boot or ECV was such an incredible blessing!

Welcome back! It sounds like you had a great trip, and I really enjoyed the Twitter updates! It was almost like being there in person. :thumbsup2

Can't wait to see the birthday pictures and start reading the trip report!

Glad you enjoyed the Twitter updates! I wish I could have recorded the music or something to really bring the magic through. Hopefully I'll at least get the pictures part figured out for December. :goodvibes

So you'll have to have a nugget do-over! :lmao:

I'm glad you got to give the boot the boot.

Can't wait to see it all!

I love it! The Nugget Do-Over. ::yes::

It is wonderful to allow the boot to just sit there and collect dust! :thumbsup2

It's been a LONG while since I posted anything about the December trip, hasn't it?

Well, with the September adventure behind us, talk of the December trip is what fills our house as of late.

There have been several developments:

1) Flights
Flights have been SO expensive. When I would do a "multi-city" type search, it was easily over $600 per person. :scared1::scared1: So, I moved to doing 3 one-way searches, which resulted in MUCH lower airfare. The lowest I saw it go was $398 a person....and we didn't buy....

Then it jumped the next week to over $500! :scared1:

We started talking about moving the dates...

Then, randomly, this past Saturday I thought I would look at the costs. They were DOWN!

Our first leg (Minneapolis to Orlando) dropped by about $100, BUY BUY BUY!

Our second leg (Orlando to New Orleans) had stayed the same, so we bought.

The third leg (New Orleans to Minneapolis) had gone UP. So we are still waiting on that one.....

We are very relieved to have the first two legs bought, and both at a very good rate. :thumbsup2

2) ADRs
Today marks 100 days from our trip! That means in 10 days we'll be making ADRs. This has completely snuck up on me. We are mostly eating in the villa but we want:

-A Candlelight Processional package
-A breakfast
-A date night for Joe and I :lovestruc

For CP, our first choice is Teppan Edo.

Unfortunately, this is also the most expensive (and as most all of you know, I just recently quit my job (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=33607543&postcount=138)-money is gonna be tighter...)

Second choice is Rose & Crown.
Third choice is Garden Grill.

Two things will determine where we end up. First and foremost, the budget....which I still have to figure out. And second, what will be available?

If all 3 of these are unavailable, I will aim for Biergarten as a fourth choice.

For our breakfast, I left this open to Joe, and he has selected 'Ohana. (drool). As a back-up, I'm claiming Tusker House.

And for our date night, it's California Grille! We have both been wanting to eat here, so it's a solid go....as long as we can get in. ;) I currently do not have a back-up, but we are flexible on day and time. Hopefully we are able to snag it at some point.

Hmmm...random thought - if we DON'T get CG, and we DON'T get Teppan Edo for the whole family, perhaps Joe and I could do Teppan Edo...:scratchin

3) and more...
I purchased 3 Restaurant.com $25 certificates (they were on sale for $2 each!) for restaurants in New Orleans. I tried to Google reviews of them and look via Google Maps where they were located distance-wise from our hotel, and I hope I chose wisely.

My FIL will be using an ECV, thankfully I now have some knowledge about them...but more research needs to be done on that front. I also need to figure out if he wants one for the resorts, or just the parks.

Tomorrow we begin the double-digit dance! :dance3:

Congrats on getting your flights (well, 2 of them anyway) booked! I agree - I was sticker shocked when I started watching airfare for our trip http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/Smilies/signs093.gif I was able to catch it at a relatively reasonable price though, and it was low enough that I was able to convience DH to fly rather than drive, so I'm happy!

I'm counting down the days until I can make ADRs too (Sunday can't get here soon enough!). I'm hoping for a CP package too, on Christmas Eve no less! Teppan Edo & Le Cellier were my first choices, but I know they will be very hard to get. Plus, we decided to pay OOP for the package and not use 2 dining credits, so we need to go with a cheaper option. I think we've decided on Nine Dragons, it doesn't seem to be very popular, which is a bit scary, but it should make it easier to get!

I just read a really good review of nine dragons.
I do want to try Teppon Edo someday too. Of course I just want to be able to book a trip sometime in the future. LOL! DH is getting his hip replaced in Oct, so I have a feeling it may a year or more before we go back again.

Ughh, I can't believe airfare is so crazy right now -- I hope you are able to snag a good deal on your New Orleans to Minneapolis tickets, but at least you have your home to Orlando tickets (those are the important ones ;)).

I think all of your dining choices are great -- Ohana's or Tusker House are both yummy, and California Grill is the perfect place for date night!

What a whirlwind. I keep forgetting that you still have this thread open for your December trip, which puts me behind on updates! Sorry that flights aren't really cooperating for you, but glad that you have two out of the three legs secured.

I love the choice of the Candelight Processional dinner package.:thumbsup2 I've seen four performances of this (Rita Moreno, John Stamos, Gary Sinise, and Marlie Matlin) and each one was so good! I'm sorry that we'll miss it this year, the processional starts on the day we leave.:sad2: I've heard very good things about Teppan Edo, so hopefully that works out for you!

10 days until ADR day. WOO HOO!! That is so exciting.

I think you have picked some great choices for ADRs. I wish you lots of luck! :wizard:

Flights are horrible. Marc & I are thinking we are going to drive to FL next year. Flights are just so expensive and then we are thinking we want a car so to rent a car you have to add on more money. So stressful. If it wasn't for the flights we could afford to go to Disney so much more!

So glad you caught them at a good rate! I am watching that third leg very closely and hoping it goes down. It was $60 cheaper at one point, but we weren't ready to buy then...hopefully it makes it at least a little closer to that!

I haven't read much about Nine Dragons....I think I just read one review (might have been MickeyNickki's if I recall), and it was AWFUL. But, that is just ONE review. So.....who knows. Have you read much on it?

I think you picked some winners Brook! We LOVE Teppan Edo. :) I am still shopping for December flights too. I'm kicking myself for not buying them earlier, when they were also cheaper. Ugh. Have you tried the online ADR booking system yet? I loved it!

I have only played with the online ADR system. Which reminds me, I really should play with it some more before we have to make them...I can use that an hour before the phone line opens, right? :scratchin

Oh-so glad to hear a good review of Nine Dragons! Maybe it's getting better, or it was just an off day.

A year or more, huh? I hope the hip replacement goes WELL though, now he'll have a good hip for walking around WDW!

Thank you!!! I check it a few times a day, so hopefully I'll snag it if it dips down some.

I think I'm going to ask for a later night reservation, so we can say good-bye to Henry and all that, but, if they don't have it-I just might do the earlier reservation like you did. The sunset was AMAZING, and how romantic? :lovestruc I'm a fireworks junky though...so I'm torn.

Don't worry about being behind-I just posted that update the other day, you aren't behind! We'll see how well I manage with TWO threads. A PTR is usually my random thoughts versus a crafted story with pictures....so it is easier thankfully!

Oh no!!! I'm sorry about missing CP!! That really stinks. :sad2: I am very much looking forward to experiencing it, it looks just awesome. I think my whole family will really enjoy it!

10 days until ADR day. WOO HOO!! That is so exciting.

We looked at renting a car from Orlando to New Orleans too because we could get round trip from Minneapolis to Orlando for very cheap! But, rental + gas + 12 hours in the car....just wasn't worth it.

I hope you are able to snag something cheap! Keep watching those prices!!! :3dglasses

Glad to hear 2/3's or your flights are booked! I hear Xmas time this year has been expensive for people. I know it's always one of the high seasons but with the airlines cutting back some flights and consolidating, it probably makes the demand go up like you're seeing?

I need to jump over to your other report and get caught up! We leave in a little over a week and we got out the suitcases today. I need to get my act together and get moving on it. It feels overwhelming at times, doesn't it? :)

What restaurants did you get the restaurant.com certificates for in New Orleans? Just curious - I did that on our January trip at a few restaurants, all in the French Quarter. Didn't do it this summer because eating was trickier with 37,000 people looking for food! Good luck with the airfare between MSP and New Orleans - I was amazed at how expensive it is!

I wanted to post a quick 'The Boot' update since some people have asked over the past few days....

Well, last week I was hopeless that I would be ditching the boot by this Thursday. I was in serious pain and it looked like there was a small baseball attached to my ankle.

However, having Joe back allows me to rest a LOT more and this weekend things have started to improve. Tonight I can almost see my ankle bone. The swelling is down much more than it ever has been!

I don't think I'll be home-free on Thursday; however, I do think I have a very good case of getting switched into the lighter boot where I can wear normal shoes on BOTH feet along with the boot. I might have to wear tennis shoes....but that is a great reason to go shopping, right? ;)

I gotta get on Facebook again!

All our restaurants are in the French Quarter as well---I gotta check what places exactly-the certs are upstairs, I'm down...and tired. I will check though and list 'em out-maybe it's one you saw or even tried!

So the airfare between MSP and MSY is usually pretty high? It's a normal thing? Blahhhhh.....

I have one Wall-E shirt, but I'm not crazy about it. It's OK. They did have one that was very cute when the movie first came out, but I haven't seen it since.

"AHHH! IT'S ADR DAY!"

That is what I shouted around 10:00 am yesterday morning as we were driving to the Twin Cities.

I didn't have a thing with me, I wasn't ready, I was blanking on the phone number.

:scared1::scared1::scared1:

Then I thought for a moment.

"No, wait, it's tomorrow. Tomorrow is ADR day."

"I think."

I quickly whipped open my planner and counted back from December 26 (while driving :rolleyes1 :sad2:), and to much relief, it was tomorrow.

Well, today is tomorrow, so I have an ADR update!!

Joe, Henry and I have all been a bit under the weather lately-just yucky colds. I woke up this morning as I have the past few days.

"Ugh" was my first word.

It was 7:42 am, Henry was awake.

Joe went about his morning and then left on his bike for church, Henry and I were staying home because of his cold-I don't want him in with the other kids and getting them sick too.

I brewed the coffee.
I made breakfast for two.
I started to eat.

"TODAY IS ADR DAY!"

:scared1::scared1::scared1:

Seriously, how could I forget?! What kind of DISer am I?!?!

I blame it fully on the cold. It knocks me out and I can hardly function in the morning.

So, instantly I was on the phone, and trying online - Henry was happily watching Playhouse Disney.

I got a CM pretty quickly - she asked for my reservation number.

"I have four."

"FOUR?!"

:lmao: I explained my slight drama with getting a 2 bedroom at Kidani, she understood and rolled with it.

A million years later....okay, 48 minutes later....we painfully had made it through using Disney oh-so-speedy software , and here is what we got:

Sunday, December 27
7:25 pm
California Grill, date night for Joe and I :lovestruc

Monday, December 28
Noon
50's Prime Time Cafe

Wednesday, December 30
4:15 pm
Biergarten Candlelight Processional Package
CP @ 6:45 pm

Thursday, December 31
9:45 am
Boma

So, uh, ya...a few changes! Original plans were changed the next time I spoke to Joe about it all! :rotfl:

He wanted to go cheaper for the CP package, and we have wanted to try Biergarten.

And he wanted Boma again. I had no objections. Can't resist the Boma breakfast. Drool.

And, our family said they wanted a few meals out-we think they are gonna really enjoy 50's Prime Time (who doesn't love boomerang designed table tops?!). And when Joe and I visited we weren't feeling 100%, so we want to go when we are feeling well and we can revel Mom's cookin'!

I made one boo-boo.

In my pre-coffee blurry mind, I said we had 6 adults, 1 2 year old. Party of 7.

Uh...no. 5 adults, 1 2 year old. Party of 6.

By the time I was halfway through my first cup I realized my mistake, but things were so stinkin' slow that I just let it roll and figure I'll call back later.

Anyone have experience with that sort of thing? Is it easy to change the reservations to fewer people, or do I have to start all over again??

Flossbolna
09-28-2009, 03:52 AM
The ADRs sound great, Boma breakfast is wonderful and I think one has to eat breakfast at the resort one day on every trip!! :goodvibes

I think if you need to adjust the number of persons on your ADR you will need to rebook them. So my advice would be to try to get new ones with the correct number of persons and cancel the ones you have only if you were able to get what you wanted. Otherwise keep the one you have if they don't require prepayment.

I hope you get to feeling better soon, Brook! I like all of your ADR choices and am looking forward to lots of food pics of your meals! ;) I think it was wise to do a Boma breakfast -- after all, you are staying right next door. :goodvibes

I totally understand forgetting ADR day! Especially with a cold!! We've had one kicker of cold passing around our house and earlier this week I could barely function!

Hope your all better soon!!

Congratulations on your ADR's!:cool1:

I think you will like Biergarten, they have a neat show during the holidays! And of course, Candelight Processional is fantastic, too! Your narrator will be Angela Bassett and Courtey B. Vance! That should be pretty good!

I hope that you and the rest of the family will be feeling better soon!:goodvibes

Those look like good ADRs. When we were there last summer, we showed up with two less than we were scheduled for on our ADR and had no problems. Hope it works out well for you!

I really like eating breakfast at the resort as well. There is just something about rolling out of bed, getting ready and walking down to the lobby for a meal. I like it. This isn't quite that since we'll be at Kidani, but very close!

That is awful about the rebooking...ugh. I guess I'll have to give it a try and maybe figure out the online system next week, see if I can rebook. Good idea on only canceling the ones I can rebook. None of them required a deposit, but the CP package and I think the Cali Grill did require a CC to hold the reservation. I'm good on the CG since it's just Joe and I, but the CP....eek. I better call on that next week.

I hope you get to feeling better soon, Brook! I like all of your ADR choices and am looking forward to lots of food pics of your meals! ;) I think it was wise to do a Boma breakfast -- after all, you are staying right next door. :goodvibes

Thank you! We are feeling better now, but Henry has caught another cold. I guess that is what being a kid is though, one cold after another in these cool months! Blah!

Lots of food pics will be taken! I hope my In-Laws get into it like Joe and I am. They might think we are silly, but I bet they'll like it by the end of the trip!

I'm really excited about each of these ADRs the more I think about them. I think we are going to all enjoy each meal. I have SO much planning to do with the rest of the meals-gotta figure out what we are making in the room, get a grocery list together, etc. I think this might be the topic of discussion at our Thanksgiving meal!

I hope you feel better soon Brook!!!

Yay for ADR's!!!!

Thank you!! I am feeling good now-Henry has come down with another cold...ick. But, hopefully he'll make it through quickly too.

Congratulations on your ADR's!:cool1:

I really hope we get to see the oompah band! I think everyone would really enjoy it, I know I will! I love polka music! (I know, I know, geeeeeeeeeeeek!)

I haven't a clue who Angela Basset and Courtey B. Vance even are. I'm so Hollywood stupid. Gotta Google. Hmmm...I don't think I've ever seen anything with either of them in it! Goodness, I live under a rock, don't I?

YAHOO for getting the CP on Christmas Eve! That will be soooooo very magical!

That is great to hear! I hope it's the same for us. I'll try to rebook, if I'm able, otherwise, just hope for the best.

Great ADRS!

If you like breakfast, you'll like Boma. Drool. Big 'ol buffet. Fantastic juice. Yummmm.

I really gotta give it a whirl. I tried once and it kept erroring on me (I was just doing a mock ADR). Since then, I haven't been back. And with 4 reservation numbers I was afraid it was going to freak out on me or something...I've heard DVC'ers have had problems with it too. Hopefully they got that fixed though.

Happy Last Day of Work tomorrow, Brook!!! :goodvibes

Thank you!!! I'm excited, sad, nervous all at the same time. Mostly excited though!

Now, can I make it through ANOTHER day of doing nothing but writing Knowledge Base articles without going nuts???! That is the question!

Finally caught up on the (next is your trippie for the first trip!)

I don't know if you have solved this yet but...we kept most of our reservations with an additional two people. I made all our ADR's before things happened this past summer and when I tried to change to the lesser number (either 5 or 3) I was told nothing was available. We had no problems when we arrived anywhere. Just told them the number we were at that moment.

Ahhhh! That puts my mind at ease! :goodvibes What a relief. I did try (online) to change one ADR, and it was a complete no-go for any time during our entire vacation! This slow-season gal isn't quite used to that.

I have a bunch of updates I want to do here! I will start with the most recent fun...Halloween!

Well, technically the day before Halloween was the "harvest party" at church. We all had a great time, Henry was ecstatic when he realized he got candy all-night-long!

First up was a bounce house (with Joe) - he just looooooved this, but ONLY when Da Da was with.
http://brookelizabeth.smugmug.com/WozWorld/Harvest-Party-2009/IMG4536-Small/702410070_ZSTWn-M.jpg

Then a game where you were to throw the tennis ball at these blocks of wood, but they just allowed Henry to walk right up and knock them over. He loves knocking stuff down, so this game was a big hit!
http://brookelizabeth.smugmug.com/WozWorld/Harvest-Party-2009/IMG4539-Small/702410085_cEQic-M.jpg

Next game, throw frisbees in the mouth - again, they allowed Henry to come right to the front:

*Note the Dum Dum sucker already in his mouth!

One room had things for smaller kids, including a bunch of bikes! It was great!
http://brookelizabeth.smugmug.com/WozWorld/Harvest-Party-2009/IMG4547-Small/702410141_BY7kQ-M.jpg

Doing the Cake Walk. Henry eventually won and picked out two sugar cookies with an inhuman amount of frosting on them.

(Yes, that's me with the giant fro....)

Oh, look, something healthy!!
http://brookelizabeth.smugmug.com/WozWorld/Harvest-Party-2009/IMG4554-Small/702410194_Zr344-M.jpg

By this time, Henry had enough candy, so I was making him put the candy in his bag rather than eating it right away. He played this bowling game and selected a Tootsie roll (versus the Dum Dum's he had been picking all night), so I let him eat that. As soon as he was done with it, he wanted to play the bowling game again. Can you guess why?
http://brookelizabeth.smugmug.com/WozWorld/Harvest-Party-2009/IMG4562-Small/702410273_SMuxn-M.jpg
Yep, smart kid. He just grabbed another Tootsie Roll. Some candy is better than no candy, right?

Joe unwrapping the Tootsie. If you see Joe's shirt, it has an apple sticker on it. Mine had the pi symbol. Together, we were "apple pie." We are dorks! :goodvibes

Holy cow girl! You are FAST!!! :rotfl:

Thank you on the costumes! When I saw the race car driver costume, I knew it would be a hit. He loves wearing it! It came with a little matching hat, but his noggin' is too big for it. The Lightning McQueen hat was a big hit with the other kids though.

That's the perfect costume for Henry! And, what's up with the dum dums? All the little kids that came to my door, I let them pick what they wanted. 99.9% picked the dum dums. I ran out of those first!

BTW, love the hair and the creative costume!!:goodvibes
