Like all those before, I can almost not contain my excitement about our September trip to The World!
This will be my 13th time there, My FIRST time Driving, AND my FIRST time on the Dining Plan!!!
I can't BELIEVE I've Never known about FREE DINING!
(But more on that in a little while...)
Let's start with the who's who!
Cast of Two...!
ME: 31 years old, originally from Philadelphia, DH and I moved to Charlotte just a few short years ago to by a home and hopefully grow roots.
I'm a Medical Office Assistant, I love Sing, Read, and most importantly get to the World as often as possible! (Tee Hee)
DH: Just turned 34, was born in Texas but raised mainly in Baltimore (Air Force Brat)
He works in the Corporate IT World doing God knows what!
(He's tryed explaining it many times and I still don't understand...)
http://i331.photobucket.com/albums/l453/kmarieblake/d1-19.jpg
We met through a mutual friend that he went to college with when he came up to our hometown to see the sights.
He likes to tell people we met in a hotel room in Philly...this tends to get a much better reaction then my version of the story! :rotfl:
We started dating and the rest is History... :wizard:

Where's and Why's...
This Year's Trip
Where: All Star Music
When: September 12th thru the 20th
Why: 4th Anniversary AND Free Dining
How: Our first Disney Road Trip!
:moped::moped::moped::moped::moped:
Here is a little background on my previous Disney Adventures:
1992 - 1995: Started my Obsession with the World when I was in High School.
Our Choir traveled there every year for Magic Music Days where we got to sing and perform in the parks! Such a cool experience for a teenager!
1997: Took my brother on his first trip to the world. I felt like splurging so we stayed at the Yacht Club. It was a lot of fun.
1998: First Family Vacation - Stayed at Port Orleans - We went for New years this year. New Years Eve at the Parks is a little crazy!
I've never seen so many people! We waited in line over 2 hours to get onto Space Mountain!
1999 - 2000: a few short misc trips staying with friends and once at All Star Sports.
I was hoping to get a job and move to Florida, but alas..it wasn't in the cards for me...
2001: My first trip with DBF (who is now DH) We stayed at All Star Movies - This was his First trip to the World!
I was MORE than happy to be his Tour Guide! :cheer2:
2005: Disneymoon! princess: We stayed Offsite. My In-Laws gave us their time share for a week as a Wedding Present. It was awesome!
2006 - 2008: Anniversary Trips to the World, also spent OffSite :scared1:
Needless to say, We're very excited to get back onsite this year! :cool1:

And Now for a Few plans...
So this whole FREE DINING thing is AMAZING! I really can't believe that with all of the times we've been there we have never done it!
If all goes well, I'm hoping we get to make it an annual thing! :mickeyjum
I'm looking forward to trying some of the "signature" dining experiences that we would otherwise pass up because they would be considered too expensive. This whole 90day ADR thing is a bummer, because I'd love to call and just get them out of the way! :confused3
I guess I'll just have to be patient! Grrrrr:guilty:
I most definitely want to surprise DH and try to get an ADR for the California Grill the first night we get there.
(Thank God he doesn't read these things unless I tell him to! :lmao:)
I think it would be cool to see the fireworks from way up there.
We caught them last year from Narcoossees and it was UBER romantic!
Here's a pic of us celebrating our Anniversary there last year:

Excitement in the Mail...
Our Tickets to the Not So Scary Halloween Party arrived today! http://i331.photobucket.com/albums/l453/kmarieblake/icon_mickey_halloween.gif
We did this last year and decided to have a go at it again this year.
Knowing what to expect and having a better idea of what goes on should make this year's party even better then last year!
I'm still not sure about the whole dressing up thing...last year I wore a black halloween shirt and I felt like I was melting!
Being pooh sized in the heat can sometimes not be kind! (but I'm working on it! :thumbsup2)
http://i331.photobucket.com/albums/l453/kmarieblake/d1-20.jpg
We hope to get a better spot to see the Headless Horseman this year.
I had a pretty good spot saved for us, but thought I was wasting time so I decided to move. :scared1: BAD IDEA!
I won't make that mistake again!
I was afraid we wouldn't have enough time to walk around and enjoy the treats...but of course I was wrong! There was PLENTY of time!

Thanks Raecheal! :thumbsup2
Only 17days until I get to make my ADR's!
I am WISHING a HOPING to get the following:
California Grill, O'Hana's, or Narcoossee's for our 1st night -
We won't be doing a park our first evening there so I wanted to get an ADR in one of the resorts where we can then take in a view of Wishes.
We had Narcoossee's last year, so I know the view is good, but I'd like to experience it from one of the other places as well.
I'm also hoping to get an ADR at Tusker House for the Character Breakfast at the Animal Kingdom. :confused3
Every time we go, this is the park we spend the least ammount of time in because it gets SO oppresively HOT! :scared:
We're hoping to get an early start so that we can actually enjoy the Animal Kingdom this time around!
Tony's will be our pick the day we decide to go to the Magic Kingdom.
Here's my favorite shot from there last year:
http://i331.photobucket.com/albums/l453/kmarieblake/d2-10.jpg
While they don't have the best food in World, it has good memories for us!
We ate there on our honeymoon, and they are always so nice to us so we've been going every year since!
We somehow always end up with FREE Dessert...? :rolleyes1

I cant wait to hear more. DS really wants to try AS Music one day so I cant wait to see pics and see what you think. Great start to your report.

:cloud9: I"m always on cloud 9 when it comes to Dining.. especially regarding Disney cakes lately.. I dont know:confused3:lmao:
Dbf and I have eaten at Tusker House and Tony's from your list, which we lOVE. We had great experiences even tho Tony's gets bad reviews. We had a dining reservation there last year on the night of our MNNSHP. The service was excellent: our server was soo nice and extremely helpful. The food came out warm with no complaints and it was early enough it was really quiet. Were planning to return on our weekend trip this coming august.
Only 17 days... WOW... :woohoo: We will have to send you some pixiedust: to make sure you get your top choices..

Well, I woke up at 7am to call the dining hotline:surfweb:
It's about 7:50 and I'm still on hold. It's a little crazy...they should have a toll free number. (If they do, I didn't know about it! :confused3)
I guess it will all be worth it when I get what I want...

I am SO happy that I got up early and waited on hold for over an hour!
Here's What I got:
Sat - 9/12 - California Grill @ 7:40pm
I am the most thrilled with this one! :woohoo:
This is our first night, and We will be celebrating our Anniversary Dinner here!
Just in time for Fireworks!
Sun - 9/13 - Tony’s @ 6:05pm
As this is "our" place, I didn't want to miss out on this one!
Tues - 9/15 - Sanaa @ 2:10pm
I've always wanted to see the Animal Kingdom Lodge, and this is our chance!
We're having a late lunch here and then heading over to MK for MNSSHP! :cheer2:
Thurs - 9/17 - Tusker House @ 8:20am
This is a character breakfast. There's still a ton of things at the Animal Kingdom that we haven't explored!
I'm hoping that an early start here helps us out!
I just have to remember not to overeat at the buffet! :lmao:
We were planning on going to the Hoop De Do Review with a couple cast members who we havn't seen for a while...They were going to use their discount, but apparently the 9:30 shows are already booked that week for the amount of seats they save for cast members. We decided to pass and we'll just meet them someplace else for dinner! No biggie!
I'm SO doing the happy dance right now!

It would have save me an hour on the phone! Crazy...it did allow me to book a character breakfast at O'Hana on our last day before we head home!
Can't complain too much, right? :confused3

I also just found out that since we didn't get Hoop De Do, we're meeting our friends at T-Rex for dinner the second night we're there!
I can't wait! I REALLY want to see the Ice room!

Hey everyone! It's been a while!
It's exactly 2 months and 1 Week until our road trip!
So...I've been playing around with the online ADR system!
While I think it is much easier than calling...if you want to switch anything around, there's no way to do that other than to call. It's also been down quite a bit...I guess they still have some kinks to work out :confused3
I've added to our ADR's and booked us the Character Breakfast at O'Hana's on our last day. I'm secretly a big fan of Stitch!
(Shhhh - don't tell the Beast, I wouldn't want to start a fight for my affection! :rotfl:)
I've already told my husband, that I want to take pictures at all the places we eat so I can post reviews when we get back!
This vacation can't get here fast enough!
Until next time...:flower3:

Personally the free dining sounds nice, heck the dining plan even if you pay is nice but we chose not to do so and we have 2 kids and here is why.
#1, the free plan is only available while the kids are in school.
#2, in our last 2 years at disney we have found that not only are the people using the plan confused on what they can buy without being overly charged the people at the registers sometimes seem just as confused.
#3, you seem to need to have to have a dining reservation everyday to make it work. We like pretty much food on the go. Is it boring almost eating the same thing every day, yea but we like what we like and have a great time.
Enjoy your vacation.

Hi everyone! It's been a while! :wizard:
We're almost at our 30 day mark and I absolutely can't wait to get away. It's been a tough few weeks, and DH and I really need a vacation! :scared1: I have been working for an agency for the past year (and loving it) but assignments seem to be coming few and far between, so I'm out and about in the job market again, and boy is it tough!
On a happier note...
My In-Laws just got back from a trip to the World, and they were constantly sending us pictures on their phone. (MIL just got a Blackberry Storm and One of those Mini Laptop things so she's been having fun and doing what she calls "staying connected" :surfweb:)
They stayed off property (I know...:scared1:) and when they got back, they informed us that they want to go again with the Family next year so we can all celebrate a few things together...It will be:
Their 40th Anniversary
Mine and DH's 5th Anniversary
Nephew's10th Birthday and his Brother's 5th Birthday (this will be a surprise to them)
So now I'm DOUBLE excited - I get to go this year, AND next year too!
Here's to staying positive! :cheer2:

Thanks! That cake was $70 from the cake hotline and WAY too big for just the 2 of us, but it was well worth it to see DH's face! (he never got to try our wedding cake so I had them re-create the flavors - chocolate cake with strawberry cream mousse filling - YUM) We even got to keep the platter it came on! That was a nice surprise! They also gave us personalized menus! They were too cute and completely unexpected!

We will be there at basically the same time. Our Res is @ 8:25 am I promised my DH that we could spend a whole day in AK since that is his favorite and for some reason when he is with us it always gets cut short. So I wanted to make sure we get an early start. We are celebrating our 10th Anniv.
We might actually run into each other there. Have a great time. :goodvibes

aww your DH does look very happy to have the cake I would be too:):rotfl: Do you happen to know if you send them a picture of a wedding cake if they can re create it? I was thinking of sending them a picture of mine if i am able to and see what they can do:) The cake really looks delicious!!! I can't believe they let you keep the platter ! That is a nice little gift:) and the personalized menu is really cute too:) now i am hungry for cake LOL!! I have been on a diet for soo long!! lost a a lot of weight-- but don't get me wrong i will indulge for sure in disney LOL!! :dance3: but then after that its back to healthy eating lol :lmao: i guess its more of a lifestyle change now than a diet! but i am craving disney food like crazy!!!!:woohoo:
My best advice would be to go browse the cake thread, get some ideas, and then call for the details. It can be as cheap or expensive as you make it!
PS: I've been doing Weight Watchers, but intend to have a little fun in Disney too! You gotta figure, with all that walking...I'm at least gonna splurge on a Mickey Head Ice Cream! :dance3:

I got my itinerary packet in the mail today with my luggage tags and vouchers! :yay:
I didn't know we were gonna get so much...I had no idea about some of the things that were included! Planet Hollywood Discounts, Photopass coupons, Arcade and Mini Golf Time...this is awesome! I guess I was just concerned about our Hotel and Dining Options and didn't read everything else! :lmao:
Hooray for Surprises in the Mail!

So I started looking at park hours this week and realized that we get to use EMH since we're staying onsite this year (gotta love these little perks!) DH and I are not too keen on getting up early on vacation unless we have to, so I think we'll be using mainly the evening hours...after experiencing last year's MNSSHP, we really enjoyed being in the parks so late at night. It was slightly spooky, but intimate...almost like we were the only ones there.
I think I'm especially looking forward to catching one at the Animal Kingdom! I've seen pictures over on the photography boards, and they are absolutely breathtaking! The way they light up Everest and the Tree at night looks like it gives the park a whole different feel. I didn't even know that the Animal Kingdom had EMH until I saw these shots!
(THANKS DIS! :disrocks:)
I'm not so sure about Epcot or DHS, but we'll definitely be doing MK and AK. (if you've been to the evening EMH at Epcot or DHS, I'd love to hear about it...they just don't seem as fun or as interesting as the other two)
Also...completely off topic, but We're Almost down to the 30day mark! Woo Hoo!

I don't know if anyone is reading along with my journey...but I just needed to vent!
I had a really bad night! I tripped on something in my husbands office () and it got stuck on my foot! I tried to kick it off and succeeded at hitting my foot on the wall and jamming said object into my foot! This caused quite a nice gash on my toes...I almost ended up in the ER for stitches, but thanks to one of my wonderful nurse friends, I only ended up having to go to the Pharmacy for some neosporin, ibuprofen, and bandages! UGH! :sad2:
Thank GOD this wasn't right before Disney! :scared1:

So we're at the 30 day mark! :woohoo:
My Toe's healing nicely and I shouldn't have any problems before our Trip! I'm going to take a variety of shoes that are well broken in! We'll be walking a little bit in preperation for all the walking we'll be doing in Disney! (After all, we are Pooh Sized!)
DH just ordered new shoes, so we definitely have to get his broken in...he's a boot guy, so we just ordered him some Doc Martin Hiking boots. He's been wearing the same type of boot since I've met him...his Philosophy, "Why Mess With Perfection?"

Me, I'm a flip flop gal...I've been very happy with the Champion Flip Flops that they sell at Target. They've gotten me through our last 3 trips, and will be making a return appearance this year. I have them in SEVERAL colors AND they're great in the rain! :thumbsup2
http://i331.photobucket.com/albums/l453/kmarieblake/flipflop.jpg
I might even try a pair of Crocs too. I was thinking one of these, but I'll have to try them on first...

I love my maryjane crocs. I have worn them during the day time for my past 2 trips and traded off with a favorite pair of flip flops for the night time. No blisters. My feet hurt a little, but that's to be expected!! Glad to hear your trip is so close, and sorry to hear about your toe! I hope you enjoy it!

We just got back in touch with an old friend, and as it turns out that he lives EXACTLY halfway between Charlotte and Orlando! :cool1:
As a result of this, we're gonna leave a day early () stop in Savannah, and spend the night at his place catching up!
We'll then get an early start the next morning and POW! We'll already be halfway to Disney! :dance3:
WOO HOO! Can't wait!

Well....2 weeks from now we'll be on our way!
I saw on the restaurant boards that the Wishes Dessert Buffet was extended. I was thinking that this would be a great way to spend our last night in Disney, but now I'm having doubts. It's just me and my husband and it would cost almost $40 with tax. He "likes" dessert but I would be the one doing most of the eating there. If anyone has any opinions, I'd love to hear them...I'm thinking we're gonna pass, but it's nice to know that the option is still there... :cheer2:
I've already started making lists for what little odds and ends I need, and I'll start packing a few days before. I'm one of those people that likes to do laundry before I go away so I don't come home to a mess! I'd like to say that I'm a neat freak, but it only happens when we're going away! :rotfl:

i was debating too about the wishes dessert buffet i though it would be fun to do but not sure it would be worth it since i most likely would not eat a lot of it LOL so I think we might skip it. I made my odds and ends list this weekend to--- and starting backing and cleaning too--- I cannot stand coming home to a messy house!!! I might even do my laundry while in Disney LOL!!!! we will be at disney so soon!!!

Look what I got in the mail today! :yay:
http://i331.photobucket.com/albums/l453/kmarieblake/book.jpg
This book was suggested by someone on one of the bazillion threads I've been reading over the past few months, and it seemed pretty interesting. I figured that since I'm only driving halfway and then letting my husband take over (as I'm terrified of I95 ) I needed something to keep me occupied and keep my excitement contained in the car!
It's killing me not to read it now, but I really need to save it for the road!
I WILL be bringing my highlighter just in case there are things in there that we don't know about! I can't wait to read! :cheer2:

Well hello from Charlotte and welcome! Glad to hear that the drive shouldn't be too bad! This is our first time driving. We usually fly, but all the size regulations and extra costs are making it a little difficult. I figure we'd save a few bucks this way! :thumbsup2
As for LeCellier...I went once back when I was in High School (YUM Cheese Soup!) and while they do have delicious food, my husband can't eat steak (gout:scared1:) so I wasn't sure that would be a good place for us. If you know of something else that's good on their menu, I might change my mind...? :confused3

you know to tell you the truth we like driving better than flying....by the time we got to the airport by DME and waited for our flight we could have been half way home. no doubt flying is quicker...but you are more on your schedule than Disney's transportation when you drive. LMK if you feel the same!
Le Cellier is AWESOME...they have chicken breast, scallops, salmon...can your dh do any of that? not sure of all gout restrictions but I am thinking red meat? I think he will be happy with the selections....
http://allears.net/menu/menu_lcd.htm
maybe too late...but keep in mind for next time! YUM...or you may could get in for late lunch?
I am so with you on the costume plan...too hot! We are all wearing halloween tees too. Try talking a 5 and 7 year old into that...it was NOT easy!
Well wishing you a GREAT trip...enjoy every second!!:wizard:
