I just spoke with Al. He arrived at MCO this morning & is staying at POFQ -building 3. Their room wasn't ready yet, so they hopped a boat to DTD. They ate lunch at T-Rex and wished they had gone to Earl of Sandwich, instead. He said the food was just average, although he thought his grandsons would have loved it. My DSiL has already begun the marathon shopping!! Al will soon begin the marathon beering!! Such a fun couple!!
We won't get to hook up with them until Saturday, and then just for the one day at Epcot. If possible, we might try to sneak over Friday night to see them, too. Ugh - I wish I'd win lotto!

Glad Al and DW arrived safe. One of my life goals is for Frank and I to follow Al around Epcot and see if we can keep up. ;)

Al just called me....again! They're in the room & he was all excited about...
A) Towels folded into little animals.
B) Large canvas Disney bag full of snacks.
C) Bowl of fresh fruit on the table.
Hmmmm....how come they don't put canvas snack bags & fresh fruit on the picnic tables at Ft. Wilderness? We're low-class citizens, I tell ya!! Low-class!!!
The least they could do is provide one of these at each site...

Deb..have you noticed that Al and I pass like ships in the night.:confused3 I leave Florida and he arrives.:scratchin As a matter of fact, last year I think we were probably in Orlando airport at the same time..only he was arriving and I was departing.
If I didn't know any better, I'd think he was trying to avoid me...:rolleyes1
Nahh....WHO wouldn't want to meet me...
Tell Al...I hope he enjoys his trip..especially to Epcot..and to have a glass of wine for Bob. He LOVED Food and wine last year..was his goal to have a glass in every country. Sounds like he and Al would get along just fine!

I would have...but...I was at THD last nite and tonite. Life sucks.

He's not at the Fort....so it must be the marathon farting & not forting.

Ya know Phyl...you're right! I think you guys are purposely avoiding each other. As for Bob & Al hitting it off? Uh.....most definitely!!
I met you...and I'd go out of my way to do it again! :thumbsup2
BTW - I arrive at FtW 2 days after Al leaves. I guess that makes you & Bob part of the family!!

Well.....Al's trip that was NOT going to be all about the dining plan has become the trip that IS all about the dining plan. (I knew that would happen)
We were going to go meet up with them tonite at the MK when DH got home from work - but alas - they have ressies at Chef Mickey's at 6, and by the time they finish would get to MK in time for the fireworks. We decided to pass on seeing them tonite because it's not worth it to drive over to see them for just an hour. He could have added us to the ressie, but we would not get there in time - and I won't pay Disney's prices for the slop they are now serving up. The four of us could have had a great meal at Ale House for what one person pays at Chef Mickey's.
I was trying to set a time for Homebrew2 (Denny - Professional Tourist) & the rest of us to get together so we could meet up - but nooooooo! The only day we can spend with Al & wife is tomorrow & they have ressies at Teppan Edo at 6. I don't know if we will spend the entire day at Epcot tomorrow or if Al will have some other "whim" up his sleeve. One thing's certain about Al - and that is - nothing is certain.
This is my public apology to Denny. Maybe next time. :sad2:

I have said before we did the dining plan last Thanksgiving and I hate it. You're married to eating during your stay. It owns you.

For as long as we stay the dining plan would make me go broke. Not to mention its just to much food. I wish I could buy it for one person and me and the DW could just share it. How ever my boss loves it but they never stay more then 5 to 7 days.

This is the 2nd time we had it and I'll probably never do the meal plan again - just too much food, but if you want to eat at any of the TS places in Disney, you pretty much have to make reservations 90 days in advance - the meal plan has filled the restaurants to capacity. We ate at Raglan Road, Tepan Edo and the Flying Fish among others and the food was good.
I got POed at Flying Fish though because we were like the third party seated and they tried to put us in the worst table in the entire place - left a sour taste in my mouth. I'm sure it was because we were on the dining plan. The service was very good and the meal was also very good.
The beer at Raglan Road was GREAT.
Probably the biggest surprise was the sandwiches at Kringla in Norway. I've eaten there before, but don't remember the sandwiches being that good or that unique.
We had these at Sassagoula in POFQ and they were good - beignets - Rog would know about them..

Curious...How did you enjoy the resort Al:confused3...hope your experience in Port Orleans French Quarter was better than the last one I had at Riverside...:scared:
Anyone try the bread pudding while at Raglan Road?....DELICIOUS...::yes::
I''m not usually a fan of it..but THAT was good!

Phyllis - it was excellent - room was clean every day - we were close to everything, the pool bar had great draft beer - the hot tub was hot (but was being cleaned once when I wanted to use it) - transportation was unbelievably good - we walked out of Wishes on a Friday night - we were watching from the Noodle Station and walked right out of the park and were back at the resort by 9:35 - we also got a complimentary gift bag - all-in-all one of my best stays.
Oops I'll continue this later - my daughter just handed me Haven - just came and got him back - it's feeding time.
Here's the gift basket - thanks to Rhonda for arranging the trip - I'll try to get more pictures and stuff loaded this weekend

How did you manage to score a "gift bag"?
Or, more to the point, how would I manage to score a gift bag?:)
