Just wondering about the gift in your stateroom from Dreams Unlimited. It seems I've read where many have found a surprise from their TA upon arrival. What's the secret? Do you have to spend so much?
Thanks!

I am sure someone will jump in here and correct me if I am wrong but here is what I've read on previous threads. If 8 or more cabins on a particular cruise are reserved through Dreams Unlimited, then you may be surprised with a gift if you also reserved through DU.

There is nothing that YOU personally can do to guarantee that this will happen on your cruise unless you book 8 cabins yourself or can talk several of your closet friends to also cruise and book through DU.

I am NOT expecting anything from DU. . .that way, if something does appear in my cabin, I'll be extra pleased.

The gift from the TA is dependent on the number of rooms booked for a particular sailing. I believe the number is 8.

From what I understand, they don't have to be 8 cabins of a group traveling together.... just 8 cabins booked by DU for the same cruise.

So, your family could book 2 cabins, my family could book 3 cabins, and a couple of other families that we don't even know could book 3 seperate cabins. At that point, all 8 cabins would get a gift even though not all parties are together.

Is that as clear as mud? :)

On our 5/25/02 Disney Magic cruise, because of the number of reservations through DU, we received a nice Disney trunk, stuffed with crackers, cheese, sausage, small bottle of wine, drinks, suckers, gummy micky mouses, and pretzels. It was a nice surprise. I believe my sis-in-law said if you have 8 reservations through them, you receive this! And no, our 8 did not book together. :)

I had read posts that TA's do give a gift so I asked my TA at Carefree Vacations. She said yes they do but because of previous problems getting it to the passenger on board, they give you the gift before you go. Hope it's a onboard credit!

Okay, thanks. We did not get anything on our 5/26 cruise. I wasn't really looking for it, but now realized I've seen posts about surprises in the room, etc.. I figured DU could book 8 rooms per cruise easily. I guess the percentage of cruisers on this board is not as high as I thought.

I guess a lot of people on these boards book other ways. We are on the June22--one more week--we have 4 cabins booked, but when I asked on the June 22 thread there only seemed to be 1 or 2 others booked through DU. Maybe we'll be lucky, but if not there is always plenty of food onboard.

We were that many people (10+ cabins) who booked through DU the last time and found a "treasure-chest" filled with treats, sodas, cheese, sausage and a small bottle of wine waiting for us in our stateroom - Together with our Casataway Club gift.
We even managed to get the box home safely to Europe and it's now used for storing memories from our cruise.

Do you mean one person has to book 8 rooms or more? Or does DU have to book a total of 8 rooms to get the surprise?

What a neat surprise!

DJ, DU has to have a total of 8 or more staterooms booked on a particular cruise (they need not be related) for the gift.

Of course any GROUP that also had 8 or more staterooms booked through DU would get the gift as well. :D

Is the surprise from DU themselves or does DU tell DCL that they have more than 8 rooms booked and thats the quirk from DCL themselves for quantity booking?

Jenn & Peter,

Could it be that they knew how many other special things the Western Cruise was getting that Disney didn't put those out as well (to Mjasp's point that maybe DCL puts it out based on bookings). With over 800 return cruisers that could be the reason. Just guessing of course.

Are you booked with Dreams for the May 10th cruise? We have two cabins booked through them.
