Hi everyone!

We are planning our trip to WDW for October! Can't wait - so excited!

Although I am trying to lose some weight before we go, because I don't wanna have to sit out on the rides without my kids because I can't fit on them :(

I am currently following the weight watchers plan online and I have been doing fairly well. Anyone else trying to get rid of some lbs before getting to the parks? :woohoo:

Hope to talk to some fellow determined Canadian DIS'ers to team up with on this challenge!

Cheers!

I'm with ya :thumbsup2

We are going in October too. :goodvibes I am in my 8th week of my weight loss program and I've lost 15 pounds so far. I have 25 more to losehttp://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l120/timoncass/smileys/tread.gif

I'm not following any program, I'm just eating less and moving a lot more!

Good luck with your program :cool1:

I will join you!

I would like to lose 30 pounds by September - it is not for Disney per se, but I am going to disney then and it is nice to have a goal.

I will tell you that the last time I went to disney I weighed 230 pounds (at 5 foot 6) and I had no problems fitting on any rides.

My sister, who weighs more than me, did any ride she wanted to as well.

The only ride I felt some discomfort on was "It's a Small World" - not enough leg room!

There's a huge long thread over on the Families board if you want some more support. :)

I started my mission back in August and managed to make goal before our Jan/Feb trip. :cool1: Now we're going back again in August and I've got a new goal... 10 lbs to go. :D

I'm basically doing WW as well... making sure I go heavy on the salads, veggies and not wasting my points on the processed stuff. ;)

I lost 30 lbs via weight watchers before my trip in Feb and then gained 10 while I was there:scared1: So we are going back in September and would like to loose some more again. still have 50 to go but I would be happy to be down 20 by then and I will never get the delux dinning again:scared:

The online thing is great but you really should get yourself out to the live weigh-in. You will meet great people and learn food tips and tricks. Having to go and face a person each week is excellent motivation.

Best of luck. :yay:

I have to face DW every week...that's bad enough!!!! :lmao:

I'll join ya for sure! I'd like to lose 10-15 lbs before out trip at the end of September. I don't really do any programs basically eat less and move more as previously stated.

Good Luck!!!

:thumbsup2 Im so happy we can do this together!

I know there is another few threads on the others boards but I would love to do this with all my fellow Canadian DIS'ers :dance3: ...so we can share all Canadian food topics etc. I always find there is so many differances when it comes to whats available in Canada compared to the States.

I like the weight watchers online program because I can always find time to account to myself everyday online since I work in an office all day. Going to the meetings was great years ago when I didnt have kids :rotfl2: But my hubby is a self employed contractor, and its not very ofter he is able to leave his customers for me to attend a WW meeting especially in this economy while things are soooo competitive:mad: I wish I could go though cause the meeting were really great for support etc.

I have been buy the "weight watchers smart ones" for lunches and I find them fairly tasty and almost always on sale, has anyone else tried these?

What does everyone do when we have lost all our goal weight before Disney :cloud9: ....Do you continue to monitor while on vacation or completely go of the wagon????

Talk to soon everyone!!!!!!!!!

I am with you also. We just got back from WDW 6 days ago. In the week and a half we were there, I lost 5 1/2 lbs!! We did A LOT of walking and swam every night. I watched what I ate but I did have one dessert, one buffett and french fries once or twice. Best of luck to all of you!!:)

I agreed. The last time we were there I think I gained 4 lbs but after getting back into the swing of things and drinking my water they were gone by the next week.

Personally, I need to find a way to work out more diligently. My diet is actually fairly good. I have the odd treat here or there but for the most part I'm following the GI Diet. Not so much a diet but a change in eating habits. My one problem with the GI Diet is that they rely heavily on sugar substitiutes (Splenda). I'm not a fan of chowing down on a whole bunch of chemicals but they are also into lots of bran. DW and I read this book over 3 years ago so I'm kind of operating off of my memory. Just by following this "diet" as a guideline, watching my serving sizes, drinking my water and working out a few times per week I went from 220 lbs to 175 lbs. DW went from 240 lbs to 170 lbs in 7 months. It was quite the transformation. I held pretty steady at 175-178 lbs until this past fall.

Since then I've gained 10 lbs. I realize that it's not much but it's enough to make me uncomfortable in some of my clothes. I know exactly what I need to do to drop these 10 lbs but I just can't seem to make it to the gym. It's actually quite frustrating. The only real time that I can work out is over my lunch hour but even that doesn't work out too well. Either the weather is terrible or I have to meet with a service company for lunch. Going out for these lunches doesn't make it easier either even if I'm ordering the right foods.

So this is so long winded but I do have one question...a gal I work with is trying to get rid of her gym membership but it costs $10 more every two weeks than what I'm paying for right now. The nice thing is that this gym is a block away from my office allowing me to work out at lunch AND there is another gym (Gold's) that is a 5 minute drive from home. Is it worth it?

kathymuggle

If you think you are going to go to the new gym - then it is worth it!

I remember reading somewhere that location convenience was the number on reason people made it to the gym....or didn't.

I'd like to join you too! :thumbsup2 I have really fallen off the wagon since last summer and gained back about 30lbs of the 50 I had lost when training to join the military. When I came home from Basic training in 2008 (due to an injury) and decided that I was no longer looking at the military for a career, I seemed to lose all motivation for my fitness program. Slowly but surely, the 30 lbs crept back on :scared1: and i am almost starting at square one again.

Our disney trip is Sept. 1, and i looked at a calendar yesterday after watching an inspiring X-weighted episode... and saw that I have 15 weeks to meet my goal. I would like to lose 25 lbs (minimum) - 30 lbs (Best shot) before our trip.

I'd hate to be sweltering in the Florida heat and humidity feeling so uncomfortable due to my weight!!

I hope I can meet my goal, and could definitely use some support!

Marie :flower3:
PS... I forgot to add, I have been attending college full time this year, set to graduate in mid June, and this is one of the reasons I have had so little time to get to the gym. I have come to the realization that the only time I will be able to make this happen for me (gym time)... and if I want to see any weight loss over the next 5 weeks without wasting away my time, then I will have to get up at 5 am and go to the gym prior to my classes at 9 a.m.

Sadly, this is my only free time right now!!! I am hoping life will calm down a little during the summer after I am done school!

Bdtracey -
I think the gym membership wpuld be worth it - Certainly if I could convienently get to a gym sometime during the day while my kids were at school/daycare, I would! I think Kathy is right, Convience is #1, def think about it for sure, as long as you wouldnt be breaking a contract on your existing membership (cause that could get costly) Congrats on your past weightloss, thats really great!

Marie -
Welcome to our newly formed thread!
25lbs is a great goal before your trip. Do you have any method's in mind?

I thought I would be doing alot of gardening this weekend but Im affraid the Brampton weather may not let me so Im gonna have to get on the Wii Fit to burn some calories!!!!
Chat soon everyone!

Welcome Marie!!!!

So I cancelled my GoodLife membership (kinda sad about that!) for FREE!!!! Apparently, there was a loop hole in my contract that let me out of it without paying the $99. I hit the Gold's by my work at lunch today and it was alright but it really made me appreciate GoodLife. Oh well! At least I know that I'll be using it. I have confidence that the Gold's by my house is nice.

DW has also conned me into doing WW with her. I've never counted calories or done points but to support her I'm going to try it for a week. I get 31 points per day plus 35 extra per week. Yeah...yesterday was 45 points! Not good. Today I'm only at 27 though and I get 33 today because I worked out for an hour. One extra point for every 20 minutes over and above the 20 minutes that you're supposed to do daily.

What really ticks me off is that I eat fairly good. Yeah, I cheat sometimes but it's not insane. I know people that I work with that make some brutal eating choices and don't gain a pound. I don't get it!

Sorry for the ramble!

Hello everyone
We are going September 26 to the World. I can't wait. My goal is to lose 30 lbs before we go. I have started walking for 1/2 hour everyday that its nice out. On the other days I try and do exercises for that time. I have been getting up a six so I have time to do it. So far in I think I've lost 8-10 lbs. I wish I didn't like food so much so it would be easier.
Good Luck everyone

bd Tracey ~ thank you for the welcome :) I agree that finding a gym close to where you are is the most important thing for sticking to your plans. I am in the process of figuring out what to do myself on that front, as I need a easy gym to get to on my way to school in the early AM.
I work at a gym (funny enough) and have free access to it, but it is a little of my route to school... I am thinking of joining a small gym in my town to hit on my way out to the HWY in the morning. Problem I am hitting is my classes start at 9 am. I have a 45 min commute through rush hour in the morning, but I am just about convinced I will have to get up at 5am and hit the gym on the way to school. I think it is the only way to make it work!! I am working on a plan for this coming week.

Tara ~ thank you as well for the warm welcome :) I am happy to have found somewhere to recieve and give support, as well this will make me accountable too!

I do not have a particular plan, allthough I am thinking of reading Bob Greene's Best Life plan over the weekend and implementing some of it.

I believe in eating 3 smaller meals a day with a couple snacks. Trying to get some protein (good protein) and a small amount of good carbs with each meal, and moving more.... definitely want to add about 3 days of cardio mixed with a few weight training sessions a week. I tend to prefer interval cardio as it is over quick!!! about 30 min of alternating intervals...

Kinda sounds like, Body for Life, doesn't it!! I do believe in those underlying principles, but I am looking for something I can live for MY life.

I am so sick of diets, or get fit quick schemes... My goal this time is to just get healthy and at a weight I can be comfortable in my clothes, no matter the season (hot weather in particular is awful overweight!!)

I want to be able to walk and not feel winded, play and feel refreshed, and not feel so sleepy/lethargic all the time. I just want to feel energized and good in my body.

So... upon saying that,

I was a little down this morning when I weighed myself to start this thing. the number was disheartening... 207 lbs :scared1: yuck, I've let myself almost get back to my previous weight when I began losing weight to join the military!!!

That is so frustrating, knowing i have to start almost all over again! I am motivated though, and excited because I can only get better from here. I just want to get a handle on my weight once and for all!

So... as stated in my intro post, I am sticking to the 25-30 lb goal, and when I figure out how to add a ticker, it will go in my signature to track my progress. I am humming and hawwing in my head about whether or not to joing WW on line or try and find a group in my community? I think that is a great program too, but last time I tried it, life had a way of getting in the way of my weigh-ins! as it usually does!!

I know how to eat, what to do....now I just have to , as the nike slogan says -- DO IT!!!~~

Well, I am off to work, so I hope all of you have a productful and wonderful day.

I'm with you!!:cool1: When we returned last August from our trip to the world I wanted to cry when I looked at the pictures...then I decided whose in control here, oh yeah, that would be me:laughing:

Well I finally got busy in January as we are going again in August and I am not going to cry when I look at the pictures this year....well maybe the castle shots.....but not because I'm fat:confused:

I am not really following any program, just eating half of what I used to and so far am down 36 pounds:banana::banana::banana::banana:

I would like to loose another 10 - 15 before we go....I actually need to loose another 40 but would be pleased with 10 - 15:rolleyes

I will keep you posted....good luck!!!!:yay:

36 pounds!?! Woohoo!:woohoo:

Yes, photos are nasty - they really bring home to us our actual size.

I am not on a specific plan either - I am trying to eat less than 2000 calories a day (pretty high, I know, but I know myself - if I go too low I will feel deprived....). I am trying to exercise daily and bought a gorgeous bike. Swim season is nearly here - which is good!

At any rate - go all of us:cheer2:

I'm in ! We're going to WDW in April or May 2010 and I want to feel better than I did when we went in '08. I would like to lose 100 lbs, but realistically I think 70 would be good. I agree with the PP who said that heat is awful when you're overweight ! Luckily, the farmers markets are open around here now so fresh veggies are available and not too expensive !

Hi Everyone - I tried to post yeaterday but I wasnt able too?

Not a great a weekend overall, the weather was freezing here in Brampton....but I was determined to get outside to do some gardening and work off some calories! I did garden for most of the day on Sunday.....and man oh man I paid for it today! Occasionally I suffer from sciatica (sp?) mostly when I was pregnant but BOOM  today I could not walk without agony! :guilty::sad1::scared:

OUUUUCHH!!!!

Anyway, I loved spending time with the kids this weekend, and even though I was in so much pain I still tossed the baseball outside this even with the kids :cheer2:

Diet this weekend - ummmm I wasnt to bad till a big bowl of cheesies sat themselves in front of me when family came over :rolleyes1 so yes I indulged but Im hoping the 6 hours of gardening I did yesterday helped :confused3

Well how was everyone's Victoria day weekend?

Today I start my first 5 am training session.
I finally found a gym open 24 hours and a trainer willing to work wih me at 5am.
But, right now I'm questionning my sanity!

Glad to see everyone is doing well. It's a tough battle but I know from experience that it doesn't take much to keep the motivation up. Just a little bit of results and you'll be hooked!

That being said, DW and I started WW last Thursday and it's going pretty well. I've always said that I'm never going to count points or calories but I really don't mind it. I was hovering around 190 lbs +/- 1 and hopped on the scale this morning and I was 185! If I could lose another 10 lbs I would be tickled pink. I can't get too excited yet as tomorrow is my "official" weigh in day and I wasn't great with my water intake yesterday so I was probably a pound shy due to mild dehydration. Even still I remember on the way up when I hit 185 I was horrified but now it's a lot nicer to see than 190+.

I've also started working out at the gym near my office. I was there on Friday and haven't been able to make it back since but I'll be there tomorrow or go for a run outside. I was planning on going today but had to go for a work lunch instead. I had a salad at Joey Tomatoes (dressing on the side ;)) and it was still 10 points! Oh well, I still have another 14 points for the rest of the night so I should be alright.

I need to be snacking more during the day though to keep my blood sugar in line. I'm not diabetic but by keeping my insulin level constant it helps to curb cravings plus it keeps my metabolism up and continually burning.

Lastly, my tip for the day...did you know that even mild dehydration can slow your metabolism by 3%? A good way to tell if you're dehydrated is if you can see the marks from your socks when you take them off. Pretty shocking eh?

Keep up the hard work everyone! It's worth every second!

bdtracey i never know about the sock line thing. I drink 8 plus cups of water a day and ever since i have had my kids I always have sock lines. I thought i was just fat and bloated????

Grandgathering...we are kinda nieghbours i am in niagara.

i started jogging today. It was hard but good....i have never been a jogger. two nights ago i decided i would like to speed walk the wdw half marathon. i decided i was goingt o sign up for it and it it FULL :( :( the princess half is march insn't but at this point I can't con anyone into going with me :(...nobody wants to get off the couch or they have been off the couch or they are into different sports. That would be such an aswesome reward for all the hard work of training. we were in the states on the weekend and they have so much ww stuff :headache: why don't we?

smartones....they are good but check out the sodium in them it is really really high. When i got back on ww last august i was eating one a day for lunch and i was loosing but then once the loss kinda slowed then stopped. My leader commented on the smart ones. i stopped eating them so much and loss started....i think i was holding water with all the salt.

My BFF, her daughter, my daughter and I all went to the states for a girls shopping weekend, man is it hard to be good when eating out!!:rolleyes1:eek:

I struggle with dessert too.....

Up until recently, I have been eating a snack or dessert every day (usually chocoalte bars...but cookies or chips on occasion as well). The truth is I ate them, I liked them, but I I did not love them.

Now I have decided that once a week I am going to make a killer dessert - something to really savour - and not waste calories on food that is blah tasting.

Last night I made a cheedar soup (with beer!) for supper - and it was so satisfying that I was not tempted to eat after supper. I think finding food that satisfies is key for me....

Thanks for the water reminder - I tend to fall off the water wagon too easily.
Off to get some.

I was up at the crack of dawn to make our ADR's this morning....was on the phone at 6am, got cut off at 710am :mad:phoned again, same thing happened so finally at 9am I had enough, got in the car and drove to Tim Horton's:love: I don't know what came over me but I had no problem saying 2 extra large double double please.....yup both for me.......16 points according to a girlfriend who attends WW, but I didn't care this morning:rolleyes1

I did manage a walk this afternoon, weeded one of my flower beds, and did some housework.....all because I was having one of those week moment days:eek:

Tomorrow we're going to my BFF's for dinner, but I know the menu, she is very weight conscious (sp?) I am in charge of the salad and she's doing shrimp on the BBQ - doesn't that sound yummy????

Can I join? I'm just starting to get serious again about losing weight now that DD has hit the 1 year mark there is no excuse. I'm aiming for 30 lbs by Sept but will be happy with 20:thumbsup2. Weight Watchers is how I have lost my weight in the past but I just can't seem to find the time to start the plan again. I have been walking on my supper break at work (to Tim Horton's for an ice capp:confused3). I have also started running on my second break at work. I have lost 5 lbs in the past two weeks. Now that I have been enjoying the excercise it's time to up the game with my diet. Any suggestions for my sweet tooth?

I am just about to go and sign up mor the princess marathon......I am scared I wish I had someone to do it with. My husband said he will come with me but I wish i had someone to speed walk with.... i have never done anything like this.

Hi. I am new to the boards, but certainly not new to Disney.:) I am a Disney fahreak! We were just there the last week of Feb and first week of March. I swore up and down I would not be back in August as a beached whale. :sad1:

We are leaving in less than 10 weeks. OMG! :scared1: I have my mind set to lose 30 pounds before then. Is it possible? Yeah, with a lot of hard work and determination. :yay: I know I can do it. I hope to be able to join in the support of this board. Good luck to those who are also trying to lose.

I have to admit, I'm frustrated right now.
I'm eating well, and I'm working out a lot ... and I'm gaining weight!
I started working with a trainer, and I'm doing cardio. Seriously. I was hoping to lose a couple pounds the first week, but no I went up!
Everyone says it's muscle, and I get that, but really it's kind of nice when your body cooperates and you go DOWN!
Plus, I stink at looking at things long-term :)
But, I have gone to the gym every weekday morning at 5am. I know it sounds crazy, but I don't like it when the gym is packed, and it's been nice and quiet there.
I work full-time and i have 2 kids, and for me it's really the only time I feel motivated and don't feel guilty getting out of the house.

I have all their DVDs as well. I absolutely love them. Bob can really kick some bootay! He's the man! :worship: I find them very encouraging. Just when you feel like you are about to keel over and die...they push you to keep on truckin'...and you actually "WANT" to. LOVE THEM!

For cardio I enjoy Disney Dance Grooves for the Wii. I set up workout mode with two mats. The kids take turns dancing on one and I play on the other. I set it to burn 400 cal and it takes about 20 minutes each day.

Ive never heard about that one???
I do have wii fit though and another workout one (cant think of the name right now :confused3 ) I bought it instead of the one that the lady from the Biggest Loser has out for Wii - I cant remember why I chose this one, but I do like it - I can set it do give me a different workout each time......
Guess I should get up off my behind and get back to it :yay::yay::yay: :laughing:

I find I really only use the Wii fit to weigh in now. I sometimes do some yoga with it but I really find it is not useful in the cardio area. Disney Dance Grooves is a dance dance revolution game. It comes with two mats and you have to dance (jump) around and hit the arrows. I think it works well for me since I can do it with the kids.

Is the other one the personal trainer type game that comes with the resistance band and leg thing? I was looking at that and the biggest loser one with the dumbells yesterday at Costco and couldn't decide between the two of them.

Reese - The one I have is called "My Fitness Coach" Its pretty good, you can set commitments on it, you can also workout a certain area that you want to concentrate on and it will create a custom workout for you. Cardio is pretty good too...
I dont know about resistance band though?
Let me know which one you get!

I did have a great compliment today that Im pretty excited about from another mom, when I took my daughter to her dance class tonight - She said "you are lookin great, you have lost some weight!" WOOOHOOO :woohoo::banana::woohoo: HOOOORAY!

Just getting caught up.....seems like you need a hug so here ya go:hug:

I completely understand your frustration....but my heart swelled with your commitment to getting up at 5am. I too hate going to the gym when it's crowded!!! So proud of you, keep it up, next week will look a whole lot different!!!!!:cutie:

In February/March I was very ill, I actually had to go on STD for a few weeks. During that time I lost 18 pounds. As I started to feel better I decided it was time to take better care of myself... meaning loose more weight, get more active, pamper myself when needed, etc. Basically overhaul my body, mind and soul.

Since then I've lost an additional 8-10 pounds, but still have about 50-60 to lose before I hit my ultimate target.

I’m not on a diet, but instead watching what I eat and making more of an effort.

I'm down about 2 dress sizes, and nothing fits me anymore. It's great, but it also means I have to either buy smaller sizes or alter the clothes I like (as opposed to buying new).

At work I bring WW frozen dinners, and surprisingly they're very good.

I think if we all motivate each other we'll do better! :woohoo:

Hi guys :goodvibes Sorry I have been MIA for the last little while. School has been crazy-busy.... Graduation is around the corner (I have gone back to school to get my Office Assistant Admin major diploma)...I have one week of classes left and then 2 weeks of field placement :) My problem has been with all of the studying and work preparing for Finals/last minute reports and assignments, I have been swamped. I think I will have to commit to one of the previous poster's schedules and get my behind to the gym at 5 am!! it is my only free time! I still want to lose 30 lbs before we go to Disney Sept. 1. so I really need to get my butt in gear!

I bought the Jillian Michaels fit pack from Costco for my Wii fit...I haven't had the chance to open it and try it yet, but it looks like it will be a good workout. I like that it came with a step platform, so maybe the CD has some form of step aerobics in it. I will update you when I have a chance to try it.

I wanted to check in and let you all know I am still here, and I am grateful for the support and ideas I have received from here! Here's hoping for a productive week :thumbsup2

Hi everyone........

Man o man was it COLD this weekend or what?????????? :scared1:

Well I was outside all weekend gardening - I froze my but off but I managed to work faster and harder to keep warm ha ha ha - Its so funny that it was about 15C in the GTA (ontario) and I was freezing but yet if we had 15C 2 months ago we would have been outside in shorts....:rotfl::lmao:

OT - Does anyone else have problems posting on this site sometimes? :confused3

I know there was someone a while ago that posted they had a serious sweet tooth....and they were looking for something to satisfy it....Anyone have any suggestions for sweets that dont come with the hefty caloric value?

Thanks for the congrats! Keep it up everyone, we are doing a great job!!!!!!! :yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

I'm not sure if I'm the one who posted that I have a sweet tooth, but I have a serious issue with candy!!! Especially chocolate.
The one thing that works for me to some extent is to have the not-very-sweet organic dark chocolate at my desk. I don't really like it, but it does curb my *need* for chocolate, and since it isn't very sweet I don't eat very much.
But, if I had a real chocolate bar in front of me you KNOW I'd be eating it!!!

I finally lost a pound this week.
I was aiming for 10 by July, but it seems a bit unrealistic. Still, I've been working out every day, so I'm hoping the weight will start shedding.
I'm also wondering if part of the reason I'm not losing weight is because I'm still nursing. (DD is 14 months). I'm more than ready to wean, but the baby won't have anything to do with that.

A friend of mine found some hot dark chocolate. I can't remember what it was called but it had some sort of chili pepper ground up in it. It was a really unique taste, not overly hot but just a touch of zing.

There are tons of 100CAL or less sweets. Check out the Christie Thinsation line. They have great cheesecake bars and now have chocolate covered pretzels. There are several different kinds of cookies too.

Want chocolate bars???? The Cadbury Thins are great and come in 4 varieties. Bonus.... they cost about 75 cents. Also, the 'single' KitKat, Coffee Crisp and Aero. All about 90 CAL.

I am in! I set a goal to lose 30 lbs before our Aug trip ... and I have lost 15 so far ... also on WW!
As well - I joined curves. i truly hate exercise .... but actually kinda enjoy curves. it takes only 1/2 hour total!

Here is one of my best ww tips ..... home made chips!!

spray a ww tortilla (or 2 ... or 5 ... only 1 point each!) w/ pam - sprinkle w/ favorite seasoning (I like garlic plus). Cut into wedges and put in oven for about 7 minutes or untill browning. you can use the broiler the last minute for super crisp. they are crunchy, salty, and a ton for few points. Often I will useno seasoning (or spray) at all and eat w/ salsa (free!). Add a salad and you have lunch!
(make w/ cinnamon sugar for a great desert!)

Good morning,

Just reading through the thread. Great to see so many supporters out there for losing weight for a trip to see the mouse. I too am heading south, the fam and I are heading down at the end of July.

I'm also in the same boat, trying to shed a few pounds and get in good walking shape (10mi/day at WDW is the average). I have a fair bit to loose in total some where near the 40/50lb mark, but for now I will focus on the first 15 by the trip.

My efforts consist of basically making sure to burn more calories than I take in each and every day. Obviously if I can focus on eating healthier that would be a bonus, but I do enjoy my beer occasionally. If I have something more than expected I just realize that I have to do something to burn off that additional. It really does make you think twice about having that extra burger or slice of pie when you figure out just how far/long you'll have to walk to even it out. LOL.

Cheers and good luck to y'all.

40lbs in 4 months? Is it doable? I'll let you know because I'm sure as heck gonna try!!!

We sail on the Disney Magic Western Caribbean cruise on October 17th and I hope to be at least 25lbs lighter by then. I recently (last week) joined weight watchers and agree, the meetings help. They are a great support and an awesome source for tips and sharing of low point food ideas.

I wish everyone luck with their journey to a healthy lifestyle. :flower3:

I'm still here and still working out ... but it's been really busy at work.
I'm slowly losing weight - like half a pound per week.
I was at the gym last night (to pay for my personal training sessions) and I was chatting to the gym owner. He asked how it's going and I was pretty honest. I said that I'm enjoying it and I feel different, but I'm not losing pounds like I would like.
And then I said "well, I have confidence in my trainer."
His comment back? "But, do you have confidence in you?"
It was such an interesting comment, because as much as I want this, I keep thinking it is so hard, etc etc. So I guess I have to believe in it more.

Anyway ...
On Thursday I'm running a 5 k race! Wish me luck. I haven't run 5k since before I was pregnant with my now 15 month old. I'm totally nervous, but confident. And kind of excited :)

How is everyone is doing?

Not so great for me....should be at the gym right now but this week had been CRAZY BUSY! I haven't lost (or gained) anything in about 3 weeks which is disappointing but I really haven't been too hard at it either. We have 100 days before we go so I have a bit of time but I need to get my butt in gear!!! I've been eating alright but could still do better.

Still here, just super busy with work, kids... life in general.

Still down 26lbs, maybe 1 or 2 more. I only get on the scale about once a week. But I'm down 2 sizes, so that's great.

I'm a terrible sleeper though, and when I don't sleep I feel like crap. No energy, so no motivation.

I just need some fresh air and sunshine to wake me up I think, this office of mine is becoming a dungeon.

Hello! :goodvibes I am still here too, life has been crazy busy and I have not been able to comitt to my fitness program like I wanted to! I know I need to get going...I only have 76 days until my trip. I am on my last 2 days of field placement for my college program, and then I am officially graduated! This has been a long, stressful year, and I am so happy to finally be nearing the end of it all! After field placement is done then I should have more time free. I just joined a program at my gym that is guaranteed to whip my behind in shape over the next eight weeks. It is based off the TV show the biggest loser...they break you into teams and you literally work your behind off. It is Monday/Wed nights from 7-9pm and Friday morning from 6-7 a.m. for 8 weeks starting July 6. I am hoping this is the motivation and push I need to become active and successful again! So....that's my workout plan for the summer :thumbsup2 On off days we are expected to journal and engage in further activity on our own, apparently they are pretty strict about you following the program and really push the whole " don't let your team down" mantra. I don't want to be the one who lets my team down, so I am planning on giving this 100% effort. I will keep you all posted on how it goes!
I am guessing with 11 weeks left I most likely have room to lose about 20lbs maximum.

Hello all!

Happy Fathers day to any daddies on board!

I have lost about 5 pounds in a month. I am going to try harder next week (actually count calories) and see what that equals in terms of weight. Go about it mathematically, yk?

My DD has decided to become a vegetarian - so is refusing to eat things with gelatin, glycerine and a few other derived from animal food addtitive. Long story short - I am going to be using quite a "whole foods" diet ( no processed food) - it will be interesting to see if staying away from processed foods equals weight loss.

Will check in later!

We were on a really restrictive diet for DS (5) - not vegetarian, but eliminating processed foods, etc.
Two books I really recommend are the Whole Foods Allergy Cookbook (it has amazing recipes that are really healthy) and the Eat Clean Diet. Both offer some great ideas for eliminating stuff from your diet. Though they aren't strictly vegetarian.
I didn't lose a ton of weight when we cut out processed stuff (because I was overeating still) but the difference in our entire family's health was astounding!
Good luck

O.K. so now I have a new problem... none of my clothes fit anymore. Seriously, I am swimming in everything - especially my pants. Haha, even my underwear are too big now! :lmao:

Down 28 pounds, and almost 3 sizes.

Should I alter some of my clothes? It would probably be cheaper than buying new. I just can't afford new clothes at this point. Thankfully I do have some older "staples" that are smaller in size, and I can finally fit into them again. But otherwise my wardrobe is pretty sad at this point.

Isn't this the best problem to have:lmao: I was in the same boat as you, I spent the money and had them altered. I had bought all new shorts and skorts last year and I loved them all so I bit the bullet and got them taken in.

I had capris in smaller sizes, I know all you ghirls can relate to that....my clothes closet reads like a clothing store.....size 14, 16 and 18. Dr Phil says we should get rid of these other sizes....WHATEVER, he's not a girl;)
