I am super excited!
This is me: :jumping1::jumping1::jumping1:
My Road Trip to Disney is in 48 days. I love the fact that I can say I am going to WDW NEXT MONTH... even though it is still the beginning of May and my trip isnt until the end of June... it still counts! ;)
We will begin our drive a little after midnight on June 27th... The Relay for Life is June 26 (and June 27) and I will be leaving my team in the capable hands of my best friend to take off... We plan to stop in South Carolina for Saturday night and continue on to FL Sunday morning. We check into either SSR or BCV that Sunday (we are there for two weeks and I dont know which one we are at first)...
So my question is this: What do I need to make sure I have for a successful road trip that does not end in divorce? I would like to make the drive part of the vacation, not just a means to get there. We have never driven further than PA or VT so this will be a whole new thing for us...
Thoughts, suggestions, comments?

You got it in your quote that you want to make the drive part of the vacation. Otherwise it's just a big chore to get there. We have been driving down since 1999. For the last several years of driving we've had the kids with us but even before kids we enjoyed going on road trips together. Do you have any friends that live en route. You don't have to stay with them but maybe you could have dinner or cocktails. Do you and your husband like hanging out in a hot tub. Spring for a room on the way down that has one in the room or just one that's outside. As you'll be traveling in June the pools should be open in SC. Definitely CDs, or books on tape etc.
Before kids, DP and I used to play the rainbow sticker game, kind of like the License plate game but only with rainbow stickers. (It's corny, but we had fun).
Just enjoy every moment. Once you pull out of the driveway, leave all the junk home and just be.

Growing up, my family used to drive down from the Detroit area. They'd want to do some sight-seeing along the way, which meant it was a 3-day trip. It was torture. :sad2:
Then there was the high school band trip. (We were the first marching band to precede the Spectromagic parade when it first premiered! :woohoo:) It was a 24-hour bus ride of pure hell because I didn't sleep at all on the bus.
The drive makes you appreciate the destination a lot more. Some of my personal tippage for the drive:
DOs
--Stop in areas that look different from the area you live in and find a "mom-n-pop" cafe or diner to have lunch/dinner. Not only can you find amazing food this way, but the new environment can also add interest to the adventure.
--Make rest stops when you need them.....'cause you never know when the next stop is coming up, and there are a few stretches of road in Tennessee and Georgia that are pretty secluded. :rolleyes1
--Relax.
DON'Ts
--Don't go overboard by talking about things you'd love to do or plan on doing once you get to WDW. If you wind up not being able to do them it can lead to unnecessary disappointment. (Example: "Awwwww......I didn't get to get Cinderella's autograph.")
--Don't drive for more than 3 hours without taking a short break. This can lead to crankiness and becoming fidgety.
--Don't run over deer. It's just not cool.

We like to check out a couple of non musical CDs to listen to on the way as well. We usually get one short audiobook, one or two comedy albums and something like David Sedaris essays. Nothing that will keep us from talking for hours on end. Instead, we look for things that will give us something to talk about:thumbsup2
Have FUN:goodvibes We get to go to Disneyland Paris for the first time ever leaving Saturday and being at the parks when they open Sunday and I am sooooo excited, so I know the feeling:goodvibes

--Stop in areas that look different from the area you live in and find a "mom-n-pop" cafe or diner to have lunch/dinner. Not only can you find amazing food this way, but the new environment can also add interest to the adventure. We will definitely do this, I love small, local places.

--Don't drive for more than 3 hours without taking a short break. This can lead to crankiness and becoming fidgety. This is a definite especially since I hope to be PG, rest stops are a must!
--Don't run over deer. It's just not cool.I hope that we manage to not do this. I swerve to avoid pigeons and squirells!

We are thinking of activating the XM radio in the car...

Thanks:goodvibesWe are very excited and NEED the break from stress (currently evicting dead beat tenants long distance, figuring out DDs needed oral surgery with a surgeon who does not speak English--my German leaves much to be desired, etc.)
I am totally excited to see that castle (I hear it has a dungeon with a dragonprincess:) and also their version of Haunted Mansion. Someone from the kids' school told me today it is "okay but you can do everything worth doing in a day." I put no stock in her opinion--she is thinks AK is a half day park at most:rolleyes: It will be a budget trip--no sit down meals (see eviction comment above:sad2:) but it has to be fun--we can go to WDW and never ride a ride and have a blast (like most people here, right?). Rob, if you have any tips please PM them (or post them, but I hate to take over Jenn's thread--this one hasn't gone astray yet:rolleyes1)
Jenn--another tip--if you stop somewhere you love (to eat or whatnot) on the way to WDW, mark it in the atlas/save it in the GPS so you can find it on the way home if you want to. You will think you can remember it, but after a week of pixie dust you probably won't.

The Phantom Manor is very cool as well! The only tip I'll give you about the Disney park is what I'd say about all of them. Don't rush through it and miss the details. Enjoy it, soak it up, it's a magical place. Why run past the beauty because you're trying to keep to a schedule? :confused3
The other big tip is that if you've got the time/resources visit Paris! As much as we loved Disneyland Paris, the next trip will focus MUCH more on the City of Lights itself. We fell in love with it. Riding up the Eiffel Tower at twilight and watching the city lights come on was one of the most amazing and romantic things I've ever done in my life!

Oh! and it will be TWO weeks of Pizie Dust :dance3::dance3::dance3:
So I made my ADRs today and I have to say that for making them so late ~ I did pretty well... Managed to get dinner ressies at Coral Reef, Yachtsman, Rose and Crown, Nine Dragons, and for the clambake at Cape May Cafe... Breakfast ressies at Chef Mickeys and Tusker House... The only one that I was disapointed about was (no surprise here) Le Cellier... really wanted a dinner res, but at least managed to secure a lunch one! Still want a dinner one and may try Member Services again in the future to see if I can get one, but... So, all in all I am happy with my ADR's... Now Nelson and I have to just take a look at what we have and fill in the blanks... any suggestions? Any Floridians (or anyone down there at that time) want to meet up for drinks?
Oh! and Nelson finally made our hotel res for the fri and sat between our two weeks (if you know DVC then you know it is ridiculously expensive ~ in points ~ in points to stay on a friday and saturday night, we practically got the whole second week for what it would have cost for the fri and sat) We will be staying at the Port Orleans - French Quarter($119 per night AP price). We have never even been there. Any good? Any suggestions?

Your advice is pretty much how I live my life and certainly how we vacation especially at Disney:thumbsup2
We do want to visit Paris. As Paris is now only a 5 hour drive from us (and the big perk we have here is the company car includes ALL of our gas we want to treat Paris as a seperate vacation from Disney Paris. Port Orleans French Quarter is my favourite resort:goodvibes We stayed there on our honeymoon and again on our last trip. It is so quiet and romantic there. The bar in the lobby often has a jazz band in the evening--nice to sit and have a drink and listen.
Fill in the blanks ideas: Yak and Yeti at AK. There is a pineapple and ceram cheese dessert thing which I adore. We like to get the very last reservation of the day and then you are leaving after park close and can enjoy walking out of the park in near solitude.

If you need planning help with Paris, let me recommend www.ricksteves.com I LOVE his site, his books, and his TV shows.
I found this link particularly helpful, http://www.ricksteves.com/plan/destinations/france/parisitin.htm We didn't follow it at all, but it gave us a really good idea of how to plan our days.
Plus there's a lot of general info on this page: http://www.ricksteves.com/plan/destinations/france/france_menu.htm
And seeing how you're already in Europe, you may be familiar with Rick Steves already, but if not, check out his tips for where ever you're going to be. :thumbsup2

Well, I think we made up our mind on our remaining ADR's...
I have four days left where there are no reservations whatsoever... so I am going to shoot for dinner ressies at Jiko, Yak & Yeti, Artist Point, and Sanna.
We plan to hit up the Turf Bar and Grill for dinner on one of the days that we have a breakfast res... do I need reservations for that too?
:wizard::wizard::wizard:I am still hopeful to be able to change my Le Cellier res from lunch to dinner, but I am not holding my breath.:wizard::wizard::wizard:
Since we will begin our drive home on Friday, July 10 - I thought I would try to make a breakfast reservation at Boma.
I think that is it... anything I am missing?

So I have posted most of this is pieces and some on other threads so here it all is...
Friday June 26 into Saturday June 27 is the ACS Relay for Life (RFL). This will my sixth year being a Team Captain for a team in memory of my brother who died when he was 1.5... His story is here: http://www.tommysteam.com/abouttommy.html
So when we found out that Nelson had no choice but to take his vacation beggining that weekend, we were bummed. Considered not doing RFL but it is such an important event to us... so we decided that we would go to Disney but would drive down (the other reason the driving decision was made is b/c at the time we needed to decide we didnt know if I would be PG or not since we have been trying for 4 years ~off of any BC since our wedding in 2002~and well... you all know... we still dont know and quite frankly, with my history of miscarriage, I didnt want to be 30,000 feet in the air if something started to go wrong).
We decided that we will leave the RFL at 12 a.m. on 6/27 (well, I will... Nelson would have headed home at around 3pm after setting up the tents and all the site decorations and will get his sleep in) pick Nelson up at home and he will drive while I sleep the first couple hours. (In case anyone was wondering, we are leaving the RFL team in the capable :lmao: hands of my very best friend in the whole wide sky, Jen ~with one "n"~)
Nelson wants to ensure that we are through DC by 8:00 a.m. to avoid traffic so at midnight we take off. Which means that I not only have to get everything ready for the RFL prior to 6/26 but also pack for a 2 week trip to Florida!
That is all for now... More soon!
So... this is my first PTR - How am I doing so far?

I have at least one ADR for every day of our trip. Some are places we have eaten before and love, but most will be new experiences for us.
We are 26 days out from beginning our trip. The drive down plan has not changed at all, but some new bills have cropped up (don't they always) so some of our ADR's will have to go. :sad1: (at least we have a 1 bedroom room with a full kitchen so we can cook in the room ~ which I actually enjoy doing, so I am not sure why I am complaining) We are going to sit down this weekend to see which ones. Maybe some of you can help... :confused3
Sunday, June 28
We arrive in Florida (hopefully) somewhere around 3pm-ish and check into SSR. We have a 5:35 reservation at the Yachtsman. Not sure if we will get into any of the parks that night. Will probably just have dinner and go back to the room and unpack (I hate living out of a suitcase).
Monday, June 29
5:50p.m. Rose and Crown
We have never been here, but are both big fans of fish and chips ~ we were told this was a must do.
Tuesday, June 30
6:15p.m. Nine Dragons
We go here at least once every trip. I absolutely love the honey sesame chicken (at least I think that is what it's called).
Wednesday, July 1
5:30p.m. Jiko
This is one that although I am excited about, it may have to go... It is 2TS credits on DDP....
We have never been here ~ opinions???
Thursday, July 2
8:25a.m. Tusker House
Another place we have never tried. My favorite meal to have a buffet for is breakfast because I love everything breakfast! Of course, the fact that it is a character breakfast is important too... that is where I get all my pictures!
Friday, July 3
We check out of SSR on this day and into POFQ.
8:35p.m. Coral Reef
We went to Coral Reef last year for dinner and loved it (even with the stingray staring at me)!
More to come... :goodvibes

While I do enjoy the Rose and Crown, everything I've ever heard says that the fish and chips at Cooks of Dublin at Downtown Disney blow the ones at Rose & Crown out of the water!
Our friends from the U.K. that visit every year refuse to eat the fish and chips at the U.K. Pavillion because they're Harry Ramsden fish and chips and according to them "We've got a Harry Ramsdens at home and it's rubbish, nobody eats there!" :rotfl2:

That's what I did on my trip 2 years ago. I thought they were really good. Only problem I had was finding a table. I ended up just finding a bench. But it was nice to sit and eat looking out at the WS Lagoon.

Hmmm, o.k. So Rose and Crown might be out and Jiko probably just made its way back in (especially if we save a TS credit by ditching Rose and Crown)! :thumbsup2
Thanks! :worship:
Here is some more of our plan...
Saturday, July 4
11:00 a.m. Chef Mickeys
Looking forward to PB&J pizza!
8:40 p.m. Liberty Tree Tavern
We will probably avoid the parks for most of this day, choosing to instead check out POFG. I hear it is a pretty neat place!
I did, however, have to make dinner reservations at Liberty Tree Tavern that night (seemed an appropriate fit for July 4th). The last time we ate there was just hours before Nelson proposed to me in 2001. Chip (or Dale) kept proposing to me and he was pissed! He thought they were going to ruin the surprise!
There will be a "concert in the sky" at 9:00 p.m. for the 4th of July. I am bummed that we might miss out on it b/c we will be in for dinner... Does LTT have windows that overlook the castle?
Sunday, July 5
12:10 p.m. Le Cellier
*still hoping to get a dinner res in place of this lunch* We had lunch here last year and it was yummy! We love a good steak! (and the mac and cheese ~ drool)!
This is the day that we will check out of POFG and into BCV! Having never stayed at BCV ~ we are excited!
Monday, July 6
5:35 p.m. Cape May Cafe
I love trying "New England" food when not in New England. Like the glorified chicken soup one Vero Beach restaurant tried to pass as New England Clam chowder! UGH! :snooty:
Tuesday, July 7
6:00 p.m. Yak and Yeti
This will be a new place for us.
Wednesday, July 8
5:35 p.m. Artist Point
Can't remember - is this one a little pricey? This may be one of the ones to go if we cannot justify the cost. Anyone think it is a "must keep"?
Thursday, July 9
6:20 p.m. Sanna
I know absolutely nothing about this place. I got the ADR on Rob's advice... I think it was you Rob who said you had just gone and it was really good.... What type of food? What were the prices like?
Friday, July 10
8:25 a.m. Boma
This is the day we leave and our Disney Depression settles in. We thought a big breakfast buffet might be the best way to send us off! :sad1:

So... WE ARE HERE!!!!
We arrive yesterday afternoon and I have to admit that the drive was not that bad... We pulled out of the driveway around 1:30 in the a.m. on Saturday. After stopping to pick up some Advil and a heat wrap (I did something to my lower back at the Relay for Life), I was out like a light...
I woke up in New Jersey...
Then again in Virginia... I stayed awake for a little while at this point... We passed a car that was in the fast lane with a big decal on the back that said "drive it like you stole it"... WHAT THE?!?!?!? The stupid thing was doing 50 in the fast lane...
The ride was pretty uneventful so I wont bore you with the details. We arrived in Florence, South Carolina around 6 p.m. We stayed at a Holiday Inn Express and was asleep by 8! :scared1:
On the road by 7 a.m....
I did more sleeping, until...

The food was amazing, I was so stuffed, I thought I was going to have to be rolled out...
We headed back to our room and promptly went to bed. It had been a long two days of driving...
We are not to sure what is on the agenda for today... We are headed out the door now and are going to the outlets (my brain challenged husband brought long sleeve shirts with him) and to the grocery store.
Taking suggestions for which park to go to this afternoon...

We started Monday (6/29) off at Olivia's (OKW) for breakfast.
I took what I am pretty sure is my favorite picture ever of my husband...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02780.jpg
I :lovestruc him! We will have been together for 10 years this December... I am so in love with him...:love::love:
O.K. enough sap... on to the good stuff... :cloud9:
Breakfast at Olivia's
I had an omelet with the pork trifecta, American and cheddar cheeses and tomatoes... Their breakfast potatoes are incredible!
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02782.jpg
Nelson's omelet had onions, peppers, and American and cheddar cheese:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02783.jpg
We had some shopping to do, so we headed to the outlets and then to the grocery store. We came back home and dinner was at Chez Rego, a brand new place at SSR...
Nothing magnificent, just mesquite chicken breast, garlic risotto, and corn...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02788.jpg
We decided that we had to finally begin this trip and head over to MK.
While on the boat, I took this picture:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02790.jpg
We took a quick walk around Tommorowland, saw the Monsters Inc Laugh Factory thingy then headed back to main street to the Ice Cream Parlor!!!
My double scoop of mint chocolate chip...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02803.jpg
We then walked down to our new favorite spot to watch the fireworks. We were about 45 minutes early so we sat and enjoyed our ice cream and watched cute little kids and some very grumpy adults (while listening to the music from the 9:00 Spectromagic parade)...
Fireworks:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02831.jpg
We waited for the mass exodus at this point, then went and scored a prime spot for the 11:00 Spectromagic. Until we were forced to push over because our local (not so friendly) cast member wanted to stand there... Doesn't matter, she is miserable - I am not... I do feel bad for what they have to deal with, but I am friendly and understanding and do not deserve to be barked at... moving on....
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02853.jpg
I was psyched to score an awesome picture of the head rat... I actually took 3 good pictures... I can never get a good picture of him...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02854.jpg
Just as the parade ended, Nelson took off running to get in line at the Main Street Bakery to get a cinnamon roll for Tuesday's planned breakfast in the room...
I got there just as he was ordering...
My , waiting in line to get me a cinamon roll....

So breakfast on Tuesday... :sad2:
Was supposed to be omelets (mine with my leftover steak from the Yachtsman), bacon, and the cinamon roll from the MK bakery the night before.
Nelson was "cooking" while I was in the bedroom updating my trip report. I heard things slamming, some muttered swearing and could smell some burning... Unfortunately, the cooktops in these rooms are electric. I hate electric cooktops and now, so does my husband.
Needless to say a total of six eggs went down the garbage disposal (along with my leftover steak) because everything kept burning (even the bacon) and we ended up back at Olivia's!
I forgot to take pictures of our omelets this time around, but you can always scroll up to get the details... Luckily, Olivia's is yummy (and the DVC discount is helpful too)!
Lunch was at Nine Dragons in China/Epcot:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02885.jpg
We both ordered the Honey Chicken, we love it!
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02887.jpg
I have the recipe for this at home, but have never actually made it! :headache:
I tried to teach Nelson how to use chopsticks without much luck. This really great couple was seated next to us and we had a wonderful time chatting. They told us about a detour we should take on the way home... Very sweet couple!
We walked a little bit and saw the Voices of Liberty and the American Adventure. Being in a dark theatre had made me tired and the rain had really started to come down... We decided to head home. I occupied the whirlpool tub while Nelson occupied the couch... I also drowned in the tub falling asleep... :headache:
After our nap, we headed to Pepper Market at Coronado Springs for dinner. I had the beef fajitas:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02891.jpg
And Nelson had the steak (I cannot remember the cut):
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02892.jpg
We then headed to Epcot,
"got shrunked" by Professor Zalinski:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02898.jpg
went on Figment's imagination ride and took some pictures of a pyramid with backward flowing water:

Hungry? :confused3
Breakfast was in our room yesterday...
Just leftover omelets from Olivia's along with a cinammon roll and croissant from MK Bakery!
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02904.jpg
After a lazy morning and a leisurly trip into MK, we hopped aboard the MK railroad...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02911.jpg
We had lunch reservations at Tony's...
Nelson's Chicken Parm:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02920.jpg
He was not about to wait for me to take the picture and my asking him to put the fork down was met with a "Are you crazy woman?"
My baked ziti:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02919.jpg
Both were yummy. Nothing grand, but yummy!
We came back to our room after bouncing around MK a bit because some planning needed to be done. My sister and step-mother are joining us here next week so some dining reservations and stuff needed to be tweeked... It should be an interesting week!
After a nap, we got ready for dinner at Jiko's!
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02943.jpg
Our waitress took this picture of us:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02944.jpg
We started with the Spiced Briouats - Pulled beef rolled in Naan with tomato-date jam:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02946.jpg
These were very, very good... They reminded me of something I ate over in Morocco during F&W last year....
Then the bread basket:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02947.jpg
I believe she said something about a Ethiopian Honey Bread and some sort of focaccia with a tandoori compound butter.... *drool
I had the Oak Grilled Filet Mignon (I am so swearing off of read meat when I get home, gotta give the cows time to repopulate)... It was over mac and cheese with a red wine sauce....
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02948.jpg
This was incredible. No other word. Incredible.
Nelson had the Maize-crusted Pacific Halibut - with Vegetables of the Moment and Tomato-Butter Sauce
I get a kick out of "Vegetables of the Moment"...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02949.jpg
That was one big piece of fish and he said hands down, the best he has ever had!
Dessert... oh dear God... dessert...
Nelson's Pistachio Creme Brulee with chocolate crust:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02951.jpg
And my... Carrot Cake with what, if I remember correctly, was a maple and oatmeal ice cream, with sugared carrots and a oatmeally, almondy type of little thing on the side...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02950.jpg
It was exceptional!
Just when we thought we were all done, our waitress brings out:

Well... there is going to have to be a short hiatus in the trip reporting. In order to stretch our DVC points to allow us to stay an extra week in WDW (The points to stay in a 1 bedroom on a Friday and Saturday night are much higher than Sunday through Thursday nights) we are checking out of SSR this morning and into a reg. room at POFQ. We will check back into a 1 bedroom at BCV on Sunday. Anyway, the reason for the hiatus is that I get free internet in the DVC resorts and would have to pay for it at POFQ (considering that I will get it free again on Sunday, that seems like a waste of money... 9.95 each day... I could save that and buy a postcard :upsidedow in one of the stores at Magic Kingdom).
Which btw is one of my gripes about this trip. What is up with the lack of postcards these days. I had to go offsite and buy them at CVS! :scared: I have the little Sunday School girls in my class back home to send princess cards to and the only princess postcards are $2.00 and all fancy schmancy!
Whatev.
So... I will catch you all again on Sunday. This trip is about to get very interesting... My stepmother and sister :cutie: are flying in on Sunday morning....

We suck at fireworks viewing. I can tell you the view from near Winnie the Pooh is not good, the view from the bridges over to Tomorrowland are not good, the view from Frontierland is not THAT good.
The view from our club level room at the Poly was fabulous.
The view from Main Street on our first trip when it wasn't crowded was fabulous.
Beyond that, I got nothing. :confused3

Last summer I had my phone wrapped in my pool towel. DS got out of the pool, grabbed the towel, and sent my phone flying. (In his defense, he wears glasses so when he got out he couldn't see.) My phone kind of smashed on the ground and was never quite the same. I don't take my new phone to the pool.
Even before I lived here, I didn't book in advance. And when we travel now, (to other Disney destinations) we rarely do.
Just not our style.
And the expectation is on your side. She never promised to be your trip report slave, only to update you when she could/felt like it.
Personally, I'd much rather know if she got the results of her blood test back more than I want to see pictures of what they ate for breakfast.
You people with no plans give me chest pain. :sad2:
I think my expectations are perfectly reasonable.
I am absolutely wishing the very best for her test results. But I wouldn't hound her for that.
I will, however, hound for pics of what she had for breakfast. It's a trip report, you know. ;)

Thursday, July 2....
We had an ADR for breakfast at the Tusker House... after the loooonnnnnnggggg walk across multiple continents... (I just made that up, but it could be true... I don't know AK that well... did I "cross" multiple continents to get to Tusker House? Eh, Whatevah!)...
We finally got to the restaurant... After having the obligatory "horrible picture that we are going to try to force you to buy midbite" picture taken, we headed inside... It was pretty snazzy in there!
We sat down, ordered some juice/coffee and headed to the buffet once we were sure we were not going to miss any characters...
It was a pretty typical breakfast buffet. Breakfast is my absolute favorite meal (at any time of the day) so I loaded up. I refuse to show you THAT plate... but will show you this one:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02975.jpg
I Love Mickey Waffles....
Mickey came by and took his picture with Nelson:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02976.jpg
My picture with Mickey came out horrible. I always feel so rushed through my pictures with the characters....
Anyway, breakfast was yummy... nothing earth shattering, but yummy...
I think I am finally "outgrowing" the character breakfasts. I do love getting the pictures with them but I think one per trip should do it until we have kids that will love it!
Then Goofy made an appearance:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC02988.jpg
<insert wiseguy comment here>
We realized we had a little time before needing to leave to get my bloodwork :headache: done... so we checked on the Kilimanjaro Safari... there was only a 10 minute wait, so we decided to go for it since this was our first time ever in AK! :scared:
I took some decent pictures, but there was a pair of little hands from the other side of the seat that kept on getting in the way. Next time kid; you = lion food!
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03004.jpg
Giraffes are so cool! I think with the exception of the domesticated bunch, giraffes are my fave animal!
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03018.jpg
I found the heffalumps....
And my personal fave picture:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03029.jpg
I do love the "not in a zoo" feeling. No visible cages for these animals... how do they do that?
On the way out of AK, we spotted these two guys:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03034.jpg
and Miss DeVine:

http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03039.jpg
Then we headed out to go get my bloodwork...
I am going to do a separate post about having drinks that night with some familiar faces... I don't know how many pictures the DIS will allow me in one post....

Since I am not a morning person I never eat "breakfast" but the sweet roll looks yummy.

After my bloodwork, we decided to hang out in our room since I was extremely frustrated with the lab over the projected wait time on my bloodwork and the back and forth phone calls I had with my Dr.'s office back here...:mad::headache::furious:
We had a hot date with a couple of the DIS' finest that evening at the Turf Bar...
It was really nice to meet Rob and Mike. Nelson and I had a great time!
The Turf Bar was nice, we originally had a dinner reservation that night but changed it to Saturday night b/c we had some counter service credit we wanted to use.
A couple minutes in to us getting there... this showed up...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03044.jpg
OMG! The calamari was incredible!!! Yup, those are Rob's fingers in that shot!
A certain somebody was MIA when it became picture time (;)) but I did get this one:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03046.jpg
All too soon, it was time to head out. I was very happy to have had the chance to meet Rob and Mike!
As I mentioned earlier, we had some counter service credits we needed to use up before Friday at midnight... on Rob and Mike's suggestion, we hit up Sunshine Seasons at Epcot...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03047.jpg
I took this shot as we entered the park... I love the moon against the huge golf ball!
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03052.jpg

We both had the

for dessert and were both upset that we could not finish it... we were too stuffed... The cake was so moist and yummy!
We bopped around Epcot for awhile then headed back... I took this picture just outside our room at SSR:

We were checking out of SSR on Friday and heading over to POFQ for a brief two night stay.
We have never stayed at Port Orleans before...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03058.jpg
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03059.jpg
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03061.jpg
This was awaiting us...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03056.jpg
It was o.k. I loved the theme of the resort, but I have become so spoiled by the DVC rooms that I was glad it was only 2 nights. I am a Disney Resort Snob. :snooty: I admit it.
We were both a little hungry, so we headed down to Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory.
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03068.jpg
Breakfast had just finished, so we were "stuck" with lunch. Nelson and I both ordered the steak sandwich...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03070.jpg
This was my sandwich.... his looked exactly the same with the exception of his having onions and peppers on it... yuck!
Dessert was yummy:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03071.jpg
We went back to our room and did very little unpacking. Not worth unpacking for only two nights.
Then off to the Magic Kingdom!
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03089.jpg
I honestly dont know what we did in MK that day... I think we went on the Haunted Mansion and walked around enjoying just being THERE :cloud9:
Around 3p.m., we were both feeling a little hungry and knowing that we had 8p.m. dinner reservations decided to get "lunch"...
We went here:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03099.jpg
I love this place! We had never ever even knew it existed until we went there last year for lunch during our Keys to the Kingdom tour. There is always a table available and if you grab a window seat upstairs... AWESOME people watching spot!
We both ordered one of these:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03091.jpg
The Anchors Aweigh Tuna sandwich... I am not the biggest tuna salad fan because I usually find it too mayonais-ey, but this is as close to perfect as it is gonna get!
I think we sat there for an hour just eating slowly (DDP stomach overload was setting in) and watching people out the window.
We decided to head in the direction of the exit and just see where our feet took us.
They took us to the Hall of Presidents!
I tried to get some pictures of the inside but there are random heads in all of them....
I know I wasn't supposed to (and Nelson the straight arrow got mad at me for it) but I did take a picture of this:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03102.jpg
I didn't use my flash, so dont get on my case about it... :goodvibes
I wanted to head back to the room to change. I know there is not a dress code at Coral Reef in Epcot but I wanted to look halfway decent...
So at 8:35, we were here:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03103.jpg
We were seated at the tables immediately on the side of the aquarium glass.
The sad thing was that I was not hungry at all... :sad2: As much as I planned our ADR's and such, we didnt make very good use of the DDP in that we paid for some meals OOP thinking that they were a waste of credits, then were stuck with these counter credits at the end... better planning is needed next time...
I ordered this:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03107.jpg
Grilled New York Strip Steak with Roasted potatos and various green things.
I cannot order fish while their cousins are swimming on the side of me. The two bites of it that I ate were very yummy.
Nelson had this:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03108.jpg
Grilled Mahi Mahi... :sad2: poor Flipper....
I found out from the waitress at Coral Reef that the non alcoholic drinks listed at the beginning of the drink menu are included in the DDP (just no refills)... I am glad they told me on my last night of DDP... :headache::laughing:
Anywhooo... I had this:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03109.jpg
It was tres yummy!
I didn't get to see the Sea Turtle and was majorly bummed... but these two guys scared the *insert word of choice here* out of me:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03114.jpg
I was not paying attention to the aquarium then just happened to look quickly and said kinda loudly "HOLY CRAP", when I realized how loud I was I just started giggling uncontrollably.... I am lucky holy crap is what came out of my mouth... :scared:
Up next: Independence Day!

Happy Independence Day!
We had some croissants in our room because we had some snack credits from our SSR stay that we needed to use the day before... we snacked on those (we had an ADR at Chef Mickeys at 11 a.m.) and walked around the resort... It was going to be a hot day, but it wasnt so bad yet... We checked out the pool then the Sassagoula river....
Then headed to the Contemporary for:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03121.jpg
I love this place and was soooooo looking forward to the pb&j pizza. It was the reason I booked this ADR. I wanted that pizza!
We took this while waiting to be called:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03122.jpg
We then took the picture in front of the plate... The woman taking the pictures was not very nice (and actually quite rude), so I refused to smile... I knew I wasn't going to buy it anyway...
Anyway, back to that PB&J pizza... When I didnt see it on my first pass through the bufett line, I asked the waitress who proceeded to tell me it was discontinued! :scared1: I was/ am so upset....
Anyway, I drowned my sorrows in a big plate of breakfast food and awaited the characters.
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03133.jpg
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03136.jpg
At this point Nelson decided he didnt want to take any more pictures... so I took pics with Donald, Pluto, and Goofy all by my lonesome... :sad2:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03137.jpg
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03138.jpg
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03141.jpg
Although, Goofy was able to drag Nelson out of his seat... don't know how he did it...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03142.jpg
We left the restaurant and there was nobody (and no photographer) in front of the plate, so we took our own pictures... I think they came out very nice...
Here is the one of me.... (I though I uploaded the one of Nelson and I but I must not have...)
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03144-1.jpg
We checked out the stores in the Contemporary, talked to the DVC guy there and then we headed out of the parks because I felt a sniffle coming on and wanted to go get some Tylenol Cold....
We came back and I promptly took my Tylenol Cold and took a nap...
We had dinner rservations at the Turf Club and I was not missing them!
We headed over to the Turf Club...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03156.jpg
Some really nice guy (not mentioning any names) had suggested we have Max as a waiter ~ When we arrived, we were disappointed to find out that Max was working on the patio. There was no way I was going to be able to handle eating outside in that heat. So... we unfortunately were not able to have Max as our waiter...
We started with the calamari, it was just so good the first time around...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03155.jpg
I have no clue why I can never manage to get the picture before we devour it....
Nelson ordered the Grilled Tuna
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03153.jpg
and I, still being stuffed from breakfast (and not feeling marvelous) ordered a cheeseburger...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03154.jpg
I know, I know... :sad2:
Nelson was thrilled with his tuna and my burger was good...
We then headed over to the MK for the fireworks... we were originally going to watch from the GF dock or Poly beach but decided to head on over and see what we could see....
We scored a great spot in front of the castle, along with 74,999 of our closest friends (or so I am told... there were 75,000 ppl in MK that night )
I am going to post the pictures from the fireworks in another post.... dont want to overload this one...

Glad it is helping you get through the weather in PA. We had some rain while down there, but it never really affected our vacation at all. I am not so sweet that I melt so as long as I wasn't wearing a white t-shirt - I was perfectly happy prancing through the rain and jumping in puddles. :thumbsup2

So... A little backstory... During pretty much the whole drive down from MA to FL, my little sister (Katie) was texting me... It went like this:
Katie: Where are you?
Jenn: Maryland
Katie: I should be in Maryland.
Katie: Where are you now?
Jenn: North Carolina
Katie: I should be in North Carolina
Katie: Where are you?
Jenn: Georgia, should be in FL in 10 minutes
Katie (10 minutes later) I should be in FL
Get the drift.... I had told here before we even left that she could come with us if she wanted. All she needed to do was get mom and dads permission and we would be happy to take her with us... We had the 1 bedroom villas so there would not have been any issues.... (so, nelson and I would have to buy pajamas... there is a first time for everything in a marriage right?)
Anyway... back to Katie (where she insists everything belongs - she is soo my sister)...
The Sunday afternoon that we arrived, I get the following text message:
Katie: Were you serious about me coming to Floridaaaaaaaaaaa?
Jenn: Yes Katherine, tell mom to put you on a plane with some money...
So, the back and forth lasted four days...
Katie was coming.
Katie was coming with my step-mother.
The whole family was coming.
Just Katie was coming.
My stepmother, Katie and my littlest brother Nick were coming.
The whole family was coming.
Katie was coming alone....
Then I finally get my step mother on the phone... She doesnt want to put my 15 year old sister on a plane alone... :confused3
I think she was just looking for an excuse to come down herself...
I tell her that we can easily accomodate the both of them in our room starting Sunday at BCV... She says she is going to look more into it and call me back... I get a phone call about an hour later. Katie and she will be arriving Sunday at 9:30, they are staying at POR... What the? I though they were staying with us...
I THOUGHT MY LITTLE SISTER WAS COMING ALONE!!!! :headache:
Anywho....
Back to Sunday, July 5...
They arrive at MCO at around 9:30... We were just about to check into BCV... They were taking the Magical Express. I tell Katie to text me when they see the gates to WDW so I have a headsup... She does... The fun begins... :guilty:
First, our room at BCV (which is now my absolute favorite resort in WDW)

I SO love BCV. I hope we stay there many times in the future... I felt very "at home" there... More than anywhere else. Plus! Walking distance to Epcot (and walking distance for me is a very short distance) :laughing:and a short boatride to MGM is just the best...

So... Nelson went to pick up Katie and Nancy. He brought them back to your room to check it out... Nancy walks in and says... "ohhh... we could have crashed here" Me: "mm-hmm... plenty of room" inside I was saying something very different...
Katie was in the mood for a roller coaster and since Mother Nature has managed to tell me I wasnt prego that morning - I was in the mood for a roller coaster ride too... We headed to AK...
You should see some of the other players here:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03311.jpg
We grabbed Fast Passes for EE (the ride was down for a little while so the FP's were being honored at any time that day after 3 - i think) and hopped in line for Kali River Rapids... I loved it, my only complaint was that it was too short of a ride.... Nelson and I got soaked! It felt so good in that heat!
At this time EE was up and running with only a 30 minute wait so we decided to save our FP's for later and ride stand by... It took less than 30 minutes... This was my first time on EE... It was incredible! I love, love, loved it! (I will scan all those professional pictures and stuff when I get my photopass CD and post them all separately at a later time!)
We went and grabbed some lunch in dinoland, then hit up its tough to be a bug... that was fun! We managed to run over and catch Festival of the Lion King which was really cool!
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03295.jpg
Lion King is one of my absolute favorite movies...

and ducks, of course:

Up next:
Hoop Dee Doo Review...
jenn&nelsonrego
07-23-2009, 11:36 AM
I wanted to shower before going to dinner, so we headed back to the room... Nancy and Katie hung out while I cleaned up... I was feeling so disgusting from sweating, cooling down, sweating, getting wet on a ride... sunscreen residue all over... you get the drift...
We headed out to FW...
We needed to go to FW and catch a boat (or bus) over to Pioneer Hall where the Hoop Dee Doo Review was held.
WE got there and there was still over a half hour until showtime... Drives me crazy that the tickets said we needed to arrive 45 minutes prior to showtime... it was hot and I was sticky again, and hungry, and thirsty, and cranky... Not one of my finer afternoons... I just sat there on the benches and sulked...
We had skipped the picture b/c I was not feeling pretty...
We finally were able to head in...
Air Conditioning, water, cornbread, and salad made me very happy and turned my mood right around:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03321.jpg

http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03331.jpg
The show itself was very funny... the food was good... the service stunk!
The pots of food were dropped (I mean literally with a clunk) on to the table... That may have been part of the show... but we were never able to find our waitress for refills on our drinks or refills on the chicken which is the only thing Katie would eat... Nancy was pissed... and if I had been the one to put out the $260 I would have been too!
We calmed Nancy down so that she didnt attack the waitress the one time she came around (to hand us the old fashioned washboard and a spoon to make some noise with)... Not only was the waitress absent, but when she came to hand us the washboard, she gave us a boatload of attitude when Nancy asked her to bring us more chicken... She was just downright bad!
We had a good time anyway, the show was fun and the food was yummy.
We hopped on the boat and headed back to FW where a welcoming committee greeted us on deck:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03346.jpg
Katie wanted to go to the Magic Kingdom... that child is crazy... she had been awake since 3 a.m. that morning... But Nelson said he would take them to MK and dump me off at our room... I went in, enjoyed my shower and my comfy bed... I tried staying awake, but he came prancing in around 2:30 a.m.
Up next (once the treasurer leaves and I am able to upload photos from 7/6)... MGM....

::yes:: Which was good for her... she was so bad, she probably would have received 10-15% from me and I am usually a 20-25% tipper...
:sad2:
The thing that made us even more mad was that there were some waiters who were constantly at the tables near us, bringing out drinks, refilling the food buckets, having fun with their customers, etc.

It's really sad that some servers have the "Hey I can sit on the loading dock and smoke and make the same amount of money" attitude! The automatic grat has caused service in some Disney location to really go down hill!

It would be nice to see Disney get rid of automatic gratuities... I understand where this can be a problem because not everyone tips well... but when the service is poor b/c the server knows they are going to get their money anyway... it just gives me a bad attitude towards the whole industry (if only for a minute until the next nice server comes along)
If this woman had to work for her tip and had been a better server I would have had nothing negative to say and since you never know who might read this and be turned off by the whole thing, Disney and that server could very well be losing $$$

Funny isn't it when you tell someone something and they just do not get it until they see it? ( My Gf is like that, I could have told her 20 times that there would be room for 4 people in a 1 bedroom, but she would not have believed me until she saw it with her own eyes.:confused3).
I am glad you all had fun at HDDR! We did it once, all adults, not a favorite. :sad2: We had similar "bad service". I was not a fan of the food ( but I never really am anywhere) and really just needed drinks to deal with sitting right in front of the stage! I think we got 1 refill. It really is a shame becasue I am the type of person if you keep my drink filled , included gratuity or not, I will lay money down.

We haven't been to HDDR. Just not my thing. And I don't like family style food. I like menus. If I can't have a menu I will tolerate a buffet. I also hate bad service!
Our waiter for breakfast on my b-day at CP last year was marginal at best. We also had a marginal waiter at Jiko a couple of years ago.
BCV looks really nice. Maybe we will have to stay there sometime. :)

There is no issue with me "getting in trouble" or anything (summer is my downtime at work so all I really do is leftover projects from the year)... It is that she is so flippin' nosey and will promptly tell the rest of the little old ladies what I was doing and they will all gossip about it and I am so sick of being their central gossip victim that I try to avoid doing anything that will give them reason... pirate:

If we go to a buffet at breakfast we are usually the first ones through the line. We get up REALLY early at WDW so we book the first seating, and we have been to these places before so we know where things are. Plus, there are only 3 of us and we don't have small children so we can move through the line expeditiously. :thumbsup2
At dinner buffets we use copious amounts of anti-bacterial gel and try to scoop from the BACK of the serving dishes where fewer fingers have been grubbing. Then I try not to think about it. :rotfl2:

Yeah... I know... My husband, the computer genius, keeps telling me that too... and we have plenty of computers and parts lying around (he used to own his own wedding videography business)... the other problem is finding a location in my house that is not currently occupied my unpacked luggage (i know, i know), a cat, unopened mail, or laundry... :scared:

So, Monday July 6, 2009
The plan (their plan, not ours... I think we were just along for the Disney Commando-Style ride)... :sad2: was to go to Hollywood studios this day...
Nelson went to pick them up while I hung back and made breakfast in our room... scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon, english muffins, fresh fruit... just the basics....
After breakfast, we headed towards to dock to catch the boat to MGM.
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03347.jpg
I adore that kid!
I took a couple other shots of the resort from the dock area while we waited for the boat...

http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03349.jpg
We arrived at MGM and took a picture at the entrance... they had Katie make it look like she was holding balloons with the rest of us hanging on to her... wonder how that came out...
As we were done taking that picture, we were almost run over by this:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03354.jpg
Craziness!
We headed down Sunset Blvd. b/c of course Katie the Roller Coaster nut wanted to do ToT and RnRC... We grabbed FP's for RnR and stood stand by for ToT... It was great - as usual... We noticed the line was real short, so we rode it again! We had to buy the pics from the ride - they came out too good.... In one Nelson is making an absolutely horrified face while KAtie and I are both pointing and laughing at him... Nancy only did one roller coaster (EE onthe first day)
We had a little while before our FP's for RnR could be used so we grabbed a quick lunch at one of the places near there...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03362.jpg
Nelson and I split a salad and pizza... It was edible...
Nelson wasn't feeling great - so he headed back to the room.... :sad1:
Nancy went off to explore other parts of MGM while Katie and I walked through the stores...
We caught these two in action...

http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03355.jpg
Katie and I found this one especially funny b/c our Dad is a cop... notice the banana...
After riding RnR (only once I think - cannot remember) we had to head back to the room... We had reservations at the Cape May Buffet!!!!
This place was adorable! I love it! Reasonable too at $30 pp considering the offerings of the buffett. Clams, salmon, a couple pasta/seafood dishes and all kinds of other stuff....
As soon as we sat, we promptly started coloring the paper table "cloth" with the provided crayons... I love it when places do this... We had lots of fun with it... before, during, and after dinner...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03365.jpg
I was too busy eating so that explains the lack of photographic evidence....
We all started with the "New England" Clam Chowdah... Tip: Nevah serve New England clam chowdah to a bunch of New Englandahs... While the chowder was very good, it was not NE clam chowder (at least not my our exacting, snotty, Cape Cod standards)...
Our server, James, was fantastic! You could tell on his face when he found out we were from Massachusetts that he was worried... but he was a great sport and lots of fun....
I took a picture of one of Nelson's two plate fulls of clams...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03368.jpg

http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03364.jpg
The dessert offerings were amazing!
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03369.jpg
I believe we have a carrot cake, a key lime pie cheesecake tart, an oreo cookie tart, and a strawberry cheesecake tart... OMG!!! These were fantastic... I fought my way through and managed one bite of each...

Well... just before we left ~ I managed to stuff down the oreo cookie thing... they were incredible... They also had other dessert things, cookies, apple crisp, brownies.... more typical stuff...
This place was wonderful and I truly think a good value at $30 pp
We decided then to head over and walk the Boardwalk to work off some of the food...

Tuesday, July 7...
Epcot today!
Nelson picked Nancy and Katie up at POR and brought them back to our room for a quick breakfast... very quick... cinnamon rolls, croissants, juice and coffee...
We wanted to get to the International Gateway at Epcot before the park opened. We arrived at the Gateway and there was nobody there except the Security Guard checking bags and two people at the turnstiles... It was 8:55 and Epcot opened at 9:00... They let us in!
It was nice to snag a few pictures in Epcot with few to no people in them:

http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03380.jpg
I had to take this picture of my stepmother... She has a "real" picture like this from one of her high school trips to Europe...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03381.jpg
Nelson and Katie had taken off to get FP's for Soarin. Nancy and I meandered on over... When we got there, Nelson and Katie were no where to be found! We assumed that they had got the FP's and hopped in line for Soarin'... So we hopped in line for Soarin... we were about halfway there when Nancy's cell phone rang... They had been in line getting FP's the whole time! We offered to wait until there part of the line made it to where we were but they said no... So Nancy and I continued on into Soarin'... I just  this ride so much. My favorite is the citrus smell....
Our ride was over :sad1: and we waited for Katie and Nelson... Our FP's were only 40 minutes away and the World Showcase was not open yet so we hung around, checked out the fishies and stuff...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03382.jpg
This guy eluded my camera when we ate at Coral Reef the week before!
I think we did the boat ride and the Circle of Life thing... I  Pumba and Timon... Did I ever tell you that I have a friend that has two adorable shar pei's ... One is named Timon... they couldn't name the other one Pumba because it is similar to a dirty word in Portuguese... :lmao: Dogs name is Isaac!
Our FP's were ready and we hopped on Soarin' again... Did I tell you how much I  this ride?
There were some on and off again rains, so we sucked it up and walked around... I took this picture of my little sister...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03386.jpg
Then decided that I needed to be in the picture...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03388.jpg
(photo has been cropped to hide the Portuguese rolls hiding beneath the shirt)
We went over to Norway, saw the move, rode the ride... It wasn't so bad... But during the part of the ride where we could see outside, we discovered our own Maelstrom... The rain was coming down in sheets, visibility was zero! The wind was real bad too!
We hung around in the shops for awhile where I discovered that I cannot afford to visit Norway. I picked up a $500 sweater! And promptly put it back down...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03391.jpg
Katie and her new boytoy!
The rain had slowed enough for us to convince them that we should go to an indoor sit-down, enjoy your meal, restaurant to wait out the weather... We were able to drag them over to Nine Dragons... We were seated, Katie took one look at the menu and proclaimed... "This is Chinese food like at home".... :scared1: No, Katie it is not... so they left... which was ok with us...
We had our usual... Honey Sesame Chicken... We both love this dish so much... We actually have the recipe for it at home... Do you think we ever make it?
I managed to get Nelson to use the chop sticks...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03395.jpg
Until about 1/2way through the meal... then they became spears...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03397.jpg
We left Nine Dragons very satisfied and decided to head back to the resort... I was in need of a shower....
On the way back we found this guy...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03398.jpg
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03399.jpg
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03400.jpg
He was silly!
We made it back to our room, had a wonderful shower and a quick nap before guess who showed up at our door....
"Let's go to Downtown Disney"
Me: oh. yes. lets.
It wasn't that bad... but I do not know where all their energy comes from...
We bopped around DTD, did a little shopping in the WOD, typical DTD stuff... Katie wanted to eat at Rainforest Cafe... the wait was 1.5 hours... Nancy didn't want to wait that long so we ended up at Earl of Sandwich... fine by me - I like this place. Katie, on the other hand was not happy...
She wanted Rainforest Cafe, had a hissy fit... and refused to eat at Earl of Sandwich...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03409.jpg
This was the first time things got a little hairy.. I have a very interesting relationship with my step mother and I was dreading this... I hate the way she treats my sister sometimes.. although, the way she treated me growing up was much worse... (even the judge agreed... and I moved out of my fathers house when I was 16)
We went through some more stores with Grumpy Kate and finally got her to take this picture...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03411.jpg
Nancy would not let her buy any candy or anything b/c of the whole dinner situation so being the good brother in law he is, Nelson bought her some junk food while I distracted Nancy and smuggled it to Katie once we dropped her off at her hotel....

Wednesday, July 8
I honestly have no clue what we did on this morning... I don't have any pictures... Hmmm....
Anyway I know that in the afternoon we headed down to The Marketplace at BC and grabbed some croissants and goodies:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03418.jpg
After eating, we explored our resort... the thought was to check out the pool but the clouds were rolling in...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03428.jpg
So we just walked around...
The quiet pool at BCV just outside the doors of our villa:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03412.jpg
The Breezeway:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03413.jpg
MMmmm... Cannot remember the name of this room, it is off to the right when you enter the villas:

Love those little chairs!
It was Welcome Home Wednesday for DVC members so we decided to head over to the Boardwalk to wait for the Atlantic Dance Hall to open up.
*This place was really neat. I could place the pictures from Rob and Scotts wedding reception! Super Cool Guys! :thumbsup2*
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03426.jpg
Took this picture while waiting outside:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03422.jpg
They opened the doors and were giving these out:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03424.jpg
Mini Key Lime Pie Tartlets from Fultons Crab House. Yummy...
They also announced that Fultons was a 30% off place for lunch for DVC members (don't know if that is still going on)...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03423.jpg
They had a fun little question and answer Jeopardy like game... It was cute... We didn't win anything... :sad2:
It was a cute little event and we all received red DVC hats when we left (which have been added to the stack we got off the ship last year)
On the walk back, we saw this guy in a tree:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03427.jpg
At some point after WHW, Nancy and Katie joined us (side note - they went to Rainforest Cafe for lunch - Katie was happy, I was relieved)... we went to MGM that night for a little while:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03429.jpg
We went to a bunch of the little ride thingys... Great Movie Ride, Little Mermaid thing, Prince Caspian thing, etc...
We headed back to BCV and stopped at Beaches and Cream on our way...

Yummm....
Nelson had a plain cone with coffee ice cream:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03440.jpg
I had vanilla with peanut butter sauce, chocolate sauce, and almonds...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03441.jpg
Don't know what my step mother got... eh...
And Katie got this creation, I think it was chocolate ice cream with chocolate sauce and rainbow sprinkles....
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03443.jpg
I said or did something to make her laugh (probably dumped ice cream into my cleavage) but got an awesome picture of her in the process:

Your right... Kleenex commercials, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, TLC's "I didn't know I was pregnant", "Say yes to the dress"... Baby Story on Discovery... Army Wives... all of these shows have me blubbering like a hormonal, emotional fool....
Even stories on ESPN about High School Athletes overcoming some amazing odds were getting to me yesterday...
I was also eating Lindt Balls and licking the salt off of potato chips....
Oh boy! Here it comes!

Thursday, July 9
This was our last full day there :sad2::sad2::sad2:
We slept in and headed to DTD for lunch... we figured with the 30% DVC discount at Fultons, it was a good time to check this place out.
On our way into DTD, we spotted this guy watering the plants:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03448.jpg
Fultons Crab House
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03450.jpg
They didn't have crab claws listed on their lunch menu but our waiter (who was very good, very helpful) said that we could order any of the crab and/or lobster dishes off of the dinner menu. They had a platter of Alaskan King Crab Claws (1.5 lbs) for $51... I tried in vain to get Nelson to split the order with me... I couldn't spend $51 on myself alone for lunch... just couldn't do it... The waiter over heard me trying to get Nelson to split the platter and offered to get me a half size order for $26... :thumbsup2
My crab claws:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03456.jpg
I have not had crab claws in years... my grandma used to make them and she died in 2003...
These were soooo good. So easy to break open and very tasty...
I was so stuffed by the time I finished the 3 claws that I barely touched the potatoes... I did eat half of one though and they were very good!
Nelson had this:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03457.jpg
Slock-eyed salmon or something like that.... He said it was very tasty.
We went back to the resort to chill... it was our last day and we wanted to enjoy the quiet while my sister and stepmother hit up 3 parks!!!
After enjoying the peace and quiet and once our stomachs were telling us it was dinner time, we headed over to the Boardwalk...
I so wanted to rent one of these:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03466.jpg
Nelson taking in the sights:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03462.jpg
the thought was to go to Spoodles but then something else caught Nelson's eye:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03467.jpg
The idea of NACHOS!
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03473.jpg
We enjoyed our nachos very much. They were excellent! They made them just the way I asked ~with just about everything on the side~... Our waitress' (we had two, one in training) were wonderful here as well...
Nelson had the salmon BLT:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03475.jpg
I had the Bacon Cheeseburger:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03474.jpg
While we were there, they started up their live internet broadcast show...
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03477.jpg
Nelson thought it was amusing that they were using much of the same equipment he has at home:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03472.jpg
This was right behind me... so sad... :sad1:
http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/jennrego1929/2009%20WDW/DSC03478.jpg
Shortly after arriving back at the resort we heard loud banging and music...
Of course, on our last night there... we realize we can see the Illumination fireworks from our balcony...

Nancy and Katie came by and we made a return trip to Beaches and Cream... I forgot to mention that there was a Kitchen Sink ordered the first night we were there and this night also... Its looks good initially until you think of all those flavors running together... yucky!
I didn't take any pictures this time around - :sad2: I don't know why...
After ice cream, we took Nancy and Katie back to their resort...
This was Katie... trying to nap on the bench while waiting for the valet...
