How fun! I want to go to camp too! LOL!
Love the earings. I did both my girls young. I had to repeice Paiges several times though as hers kept growing back when she didn't wear earings. So far Claires stay open.

Great PTR, your daughter is adorable! It is wonderful that you got the ADR's you wanted and got that code applied. Your plans look great!

Thank you! It's been fun so far - I'll see how good I am at taking notes during vacation so I can do a good trip report - though I'll have lots of pictures to help me I'm sure. Yes, Monday was a good day - all the ADR's I wanted and saved money :thumbsup2

Camp is so fun, I'm bummed a little because if she goes next year it's without me - I love camp too :lmao: I will make sure Maddie wears earrings all the time, because she won't want to repierce them for awhile I don't think. ;)

So, I decided since we are eating at Park Fare for dinner with the Stepsisters and Stepmother, I wanted to try and recreate Cinderella's pink mouse dress. I talked it over with Maddie and she loved the idea. So I ordered this dress:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v226/maddiesworld/pinkprincessdress.jpg

I ordered it from mydressupshop.com. This is our 3rd dress by this brand and they are really nice because they aren't itchy at all :thumbsup2

And I need to turn it into this:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v226/maddiesworld/DSC02500.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v226/maddiesworld/DSC02501.jpg

And then try and get the accessories close:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v226/maddiesworld/DSC02502.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v226/maddiesworld/DSC02503.jpg

The burgandy shoes threw me off - I never paid that close attention before :confused3 But I suppose Cinderella didn't have a closet full of shoes ;) We do have a plastic set of blue pearls though, so that's one thing down

Anyway, it should work, but the fact that I don't really sew could make things interesting :lmao: I will keep you updated on my progress with a few pictures, but will save the final project for my trip report :cool2:

How's everyone's week going? We actually have some summer like weather around here!

My week is good! Well, my dad went to the hospital at 6 am today, because of an irregular heartbeat, but he's back home now, and is doing fine. He has a pacemaker for this reason, so no worries. :)

We've been getting some really steamy weather over here too - summery and humid! Great for my hair... :rolleyes2

Our weather was warm for a few days, but we are back in the 70s. I miss my 80s! I want to swim!!

Sorry about the hair - I wish we would get summery and steamy for more than a day though.

So I was just was reading Kathy's pre-trip report and she mentioned that daylight savings is on 10/31. That is totally in our favor since our flight leaves at 7:30am on 11/1 :scared1: That extra hour of sleep is going to come in handy!

Thanks ladies! It went well, they were asleep by 10:00pm but then a loud thunderstorm went through around 2:00am. Maddie and the older of the two sisters woke up, but the youngest didn't - LOL! They went right back to sleep though - so all was well. They even made me breakfast this morning :lovestruc

I just got a flier in the mail for my Disney Visa and in there it says that they are re-realeasing Toy Story 1 and 2 in 3D Oct. 2nd :cool1: It's going to be sold as a double feature! We love Toy Story, but I never saw it in the theater - so this is exciting. It should be great in 3D also - though probably a pricey ticket - for Toy Story, I'm willing to spend it I think.

I definitely remember seeing Toy Story in the theaters because I remember afterwards I wondered if my toys did stuff like that. :rotfl: There's also going to be a Toy Story 3! :thumbsup2

So I stole the idea from another Diser (Dreamer I think) and we started Disney movie night last night. We started with Cars - no food really goes with that, so we had sloppy joes. Maddie said that was a good choice because they were red like Lightening McQueen - works for me :thumbsup2 So we watched the movie and had rootbeer floats :happytv: It was a very nice night! I think next week may be Ratatoullie because it is going to be on Disney Channel. :thumbsup2

yummy rootbeer floats!!!!

I did a week of ocean animals with my pre-k kids today and on Friday we're going to watch Finding Nemo and have gold fish crackers and they earned an ice cream party so we're having rootbeer floats too!!

I was at BBB in 2008 Jan-May and then Feb-May 2009. DTD is nice, but I've heard reports from other FGITs they aren't as personal as the ones in the castle. They really stick to a strict time guide-15mins for a fairytale, 20 for diva, and 25 for pop where as at the castle as long as they are out within 45mins that is good so I guess just to warn, perhaps it has changed at DTD but when I interviewed for Full Time back in Feb the manager was pretty persistant about it..sad if you ask me :(

Can't wait to hear more!!!

That's funny how rumors are - I've read on the Dis that people think that DTD is more personal (that's not why we are going there, we had a great experience at the castle, I just want to try both). So I guess it just depends on attitude and expectations. I'm sure both are wonderful!

We are going out of town for the weekend, so I'll give you some trip stuff to mull over while I am gone :)

Our first day is all travel, we don't leave Green Bay until 10:45am and aren't scheduled to arrive in Orlando until 6:45pm. So I figure we won't get to POP until 8:00 or after. So that day will just be travel, unpacking and getting a good night's rest for the next day. I just wonder how late our luggage will arrive - I'd hate for luggage services to wake Maddie up. Does anyone know how they handle that later at night? I don't want to pick up our luggage ourselves - that's half the fun of Magical Express. Something to ponder I guess.

So our first full day will be Monday 10/26. We have an 8:10am ADR at Crystal Palace :woohoo: So we should be done eating by park open or shortly after :thumbsup2 My plan is to get as much done as we can in Fantasy Land and then get to Toontown about 9:45 to so we can get in line for Tinkerbelle and Friends right away. Depending how long we wait, I'd like to get to Ariel's Grotto also. We've never done the Ariel meet n' greet because the line was always so long and I hate to wait that long for character greetings. Once we are done with those things, I don't have a plan - I need that to change :rotfl:

Here's a list of what we want to see in Magic Kingdom - not all this day, overall.

Adventureland:
Pirates of the Carribean
Magic Carpets of Aladdin
Jungle Cruise

Frontierland:
Big Thundermountain Railroad
Splash Mountain

Liberty Square:
Haunted Mansion
Hall of Presidents

Fantasyland:
Ariel's Grotto
Cinderella's Carrousel
Dumbo
Small World
Tea cups
Winnie the Pooh
Philharmagic
Peter Pan's Flight
Snow White (maybe)

Toontown:
Barnstormer
Pixie Hollow
Mickey/Minnie's House

Tomorrowland:
AstroOrbitor
Buzzlightyear
Monster's Inc
TTA
Carousel of Progress (maybe)

It's alot and the first morning is the most time we will spend there, so I may be overacheiving somewhat, but we'll see how we do that first morning.

So I got an email from Stitchkingdom about refurbs today. It seems that the Computer and Bowling Pin pools may be closed down while we are there (10/25 - 11/1). Not a huge deal to me, but makes me hope we get our request a little bit more. I wonder why they would close 2 of 3 at once?

It would be logical that if your luggage arrives at the resort past 11pm or so. That they would hold it until morning or you could go pick it up....but that's logic.......

DreaGirl
08-18-2009, 09:08 AM
I think there is a cut-off time for luggage, and I want to say it is 11pm. You could ask over on the resort board.

When we went in November our luggage wasn't there at 10 and we had to call and request it to be delivered. 1/2 hour later, we were out of diapers and waiting on our luggage. At that point my DH asked if he could get it himself because of the diaper issue and they delivered it within five minutes.

I would just call if it's not in your room and either tell them to hold it or ask if you can get it yourself.

I know that if your flight comes in after 10, they don't pull your luggage for Magical Express, but I don't know anything other than that...

Since your plane is coming in before 10, you should be fine - just pack enough stuff for the next day in a carry-on.

We'll just have to look into it when we get there. We could always have it delivered to SIL's room if DD falls asleep. Though - who am I kidding, she'll probably sleep on the plane and be up until midnight anyway :scared1:

I looked at the official Disneyworld site and it looks like ME runs 24/7. Like you said the baggage service doesn't run 24/7.

I would check with ME before you leave for the trip just in case.

It's alot and the first morning is the most time we will spend there, so I may be overacheiving somewhat, but we'll see how we do that first morning.

That's why its good to have that second MK day to catch what you miss on Day One! :thumbsup2

I may start "Movie Night" too. Lately we seem to be watching a lot of Disney anyway! Your daughter looks so cute curled up on the couch with her rootbeer float! :goodvibes

So I left off on Monday 10/26 hopefully meeting Ariel with a minimum wait. So now I need to decide, I'm torn between going to tomorrowland and riding Astro Orbiter (I like that ride, I love the view from up there) or heading to Liberty Square for Haunted Mansion. I'm leaning towards tomorrowland. We could get a fast pass for Buzzlightyear, see Monsters Inc. Then maybe cut across to Adventureland and get a fastpass for Splash (I want to ride that last before we leave). Hopefully it's not too long of a wait for BTMRR and we can ride that. Then head for Haunted Mansion and Hall of Presidents, go back ride Splash, then head back to POP to rest up/swim. Maybe I'll check out some of the UG's touring plans and see if that order makes sense. I'm hoping to leave MK around 1:00. So, I don't know if all that is possible in 4 hours. I'm willing to wait a bit for the fairies, so that could throw us off. I won't wait long for Ariel though.

After our rest at POP the plan is to go to Epcot and we have a dinner ADR for Biergarten at 6:30. I figure we have to Epcot no later than 5:00pm since we have to make our way all the way to Germany. I'd like to get there a bit earlier so we could do a few things before dinner. I was thinking that would be a good time to goof around in Innoventions for awhile. We have two other partial days at Epcot to get the rides in. If we are there early enough and it is still going on, we'll do the Visa Meet and Greet too. I can't remember the exact times, I'll look those up before we go.

After dinner, we'll just wander around World Showcase and find a good spot for Illuminations. I figure we can take turns taking Maddie to some Kidcot stations and shopping while we hold our spot for the show. We are sleeping in the next day since it is the party day, so we can take it slow out of World Showcase after Illuminations is over :thumbsup2

It's hard to be a Niners fan these days. We went through several years of salary cap hell. We are just now putting together a good team, not a Super Bowl team yet, but hopefully we can have a winning season.

Uggh - Favre - don't get me started :sad2: I loved him for years. But after last summer - I am so over him! His return to Lambeau is the day we come back from Disney. That should be an interesting game if he makes it that long. He sure didn't look so good Friday night.

Day 2 - Tuesday 10/27/09 - I left of with us seeing Illuminations and taking it easy out of Epcot. I'm still looking for people's favorite spots for watching Illuminations :)

The plan for Day 2 is to sleep until we wake up on our own. We can eat two counter service meals that day because we have no ADR's and won't have used one the day before. So depending on the weather I hope to get some pool time in and breakfast at Everything POP - not sure which order that will be in - depends again on weather and what time we get up. If it's a nice day - I'm thinking breakfast by the pool sounds awesome :cool1: After that I think I'll send DH and DD back to the room to rest and SIL and I can head to DTD to shop :thumbsup2 This too depends on what time we all wake up. If DD wakes up at her normal 7:30 or so she'll need a nap to make it to the end of the party. We have a 2:30 ressie for BBB at DTD so DH and DD can come in time for that. I figure if they get up and going to DTD around 1:00, they should make it in time for the ressie. I'm hoping to be able to take Maddie's dress when SIL and I go ahead of time and drop it off at BBB so DH doesn't have to mess with it. I'm not really sure how the timing is going to go, but I think we'll get "dinner" after DD's appointment and photoshoot, then we'll head from DTD to the Party :dance3:

My favorite spot to watch illumations is when you first walk into WS there is a HUGE area inbetween those two gift shops and yes it's busy and crowded but the greatest thing is that it's on a slope so no matter what way you are standing you can get a spot. I would suggest getting there 1/2 hour to 15 mins before (depending on day of week) but when you first get there you will see everyone sit but when the show begins everyone will stand up allowing for more room if you are running behind!! It took a year and 1/2 of working at WDW to find the spot but even my parents agree you can see everything including the pictures on the globe!!!! If you are lucky they will open up the top little stage portion right over the water. I've never seen it from there because by the time you would get up there, I'm short and would not be able to see over people which is why I love the slope!!!

Yes, I worked at the castle :) They should let you drop off the dress early. They will take it in the back and put your DD's name and appt time on it and keep it for when you arrive. Tell them at the podium that the dress is in the back and they can put it in the room for you as if she were getting a new dress :) DTD location I'm not sure. Their operation is different than MK so I'm not sure. Their space is about 1/2 the size as MK :)

nope, you can't miss it! it's a sloped area in between the two gift shops. If you walk towards one or the other you'll see what we're talking about. I know in the past the area has been blocked off for a rental party but I think those these days are near England and Italy and they have left that area open for guests!!!!!!! I'd scope it out before it gets dark though! I'll have to look though pictures and see if I can find any for you!

ADR update:

So Colleen (Goofy22) did a bit of a live report in her Group pre-trip report that the food at Chef Mickey's was horrible. That led me to dig around on the dining review board and others have reported the same thing. I also started a thread asking for experiences but haven't gotten any responses yet. So My Chef Mickey's day we are actually going to be in Epcot, so I reserved a later dinner so we could take the Monorail over there. That seems like a lot of work for bad food. So I just went online and booked an ADR for Garden Grill at 4:35 since we'll be in Epcot anyway and it's the same characters. I haven't cancelled the Chef Mickey's yet - I want to get a few more reviews first because I would love for SIL to see the Contemporary. I'll make a decision within a few weeks though so I'm not holding a spot for too long.

wdwgirl03

That is a bummer about all the bad Chef Mickey's reviews! We were considering going there on our trip but decided against it since it's a buffet and we really don't eat all that much. But I always thought it would be fun to go there.

I've been to both, Chef Mickeys in Feb and in Dec and GG in Feb also and GG was horrible in my opinion. A few years back when my uncles fam vacationed with us, they went there and we went to Itlay and when we met back up he said how horrible the food was so when I went there I had high hopes and left with the same feeling..horrible food.

I thought the food was good at Chef Mickey's not great but like all those places, you are paying for characters. Over the two, I'd keep Chef Mickey's..at least you get options on what you want as GG is a set menu. I will not return to GG, I'd go to CM any day over GG!!!

I'm still here! I'm like 5 days behind on alot of my reading.
I have heard bad things about CM too. We ate at GG last year and it was just OK. It was good, but not impressive. Claire got mac & cheese and it was super gross. Our food was decent though. They had a couple of things that were really good. I think the turkey (or something like that maybe beef? LOL) wasn't too tasty, but the fish was really good. I've only been to CM's for breakfast in 2007. It was OK, but even then I wasn't impressed. I would like to try dinner there sometime though.

I think that will be good too - conserve energy! I think we will eat at DTD for dinner - I want to try either Wolfgang Puck Express or Earl of Sandwhich. We may be there for a meal on our last day too - since I plan to take Maddie TOT'ing at DTD. So we can eat at the place we don't eat on Tuesday.

And you are so right about Chef Mickey's - everyone has different opinions and expectations. That's why I like to get a lot of opinions and then decide :thumbsup2

Super-cute photos of the first day of school! And your plans sounds good. I would say go with whatever you feel like in the sense of CM or GG... we tried a lot of new places this trip, and although I didn't like all of them (just most of them), the experience was worth it.

Welcome home! I hope you had a great trip! Were you at the Chef Mickey's gathering? Hopefully it was just a bad night for the chef (the real one I mean ;) ) Can't wait to hear all about your trip!

LOL. I want to eat at both of those places when I'm there. I've eaten at Earl's before and enjoyed it. I've heard some good things about Wolfgang's so I definitely want to try it.

Let me know what you think if you go to Chef Mickey's. Since my cousins are staying at BLT, they may want to take the kids there.

I'm so far behind, but I wanted to say that your DD looked super cute on her first day! I hope all is going well for her this school year.

As for CM, I've heard good and bad. I've never eaten there so I can't give a review. We did eat at GG in November and the food was okay. I'm glad we went because it was cool to experience the rotating restaurant and the characters came around several times. With that being said, we won't go back. It's nice to try once IMO.

Thank you - she is still loving first grade after a week, so I think it's going to be a good year :thumbsup2 We liked GG too, I think I'm going to keep Chef Mickey's - I want SIL to see the Contemporary.

I am looking forward to that aspect. My prior trip I had spent so much time on the Dis (but didn't get into/find the the TR section for some reason) but really had nothing to read or post when I got back. Now I'll keep reliving trips through other people and my TR :woohoo:

Sweet First Day of School pix! :goodvibes

Our plan for MNSSHP day is the same.... wake up "whenever" then relax at the pool until party time!

I've heard the mixed reviews about CM's too, but I figure we go for the characters, not the food anyway, so I'm going to give it a shot this year!
Watching the monorail glide through the resort is so cool!

Ok just to clear things up the Chef Mickey's wasn't a GG Tammy was there on the 24th and I was there on the 26th so the chef was probbaly having a bad week!:) Don't get me wrong Chef Mickey's is never amazing it's just always good! We go there for the character interactiom mostly the fod there is 2nd. But the food like i said was always good this time it wasn't . But if you have never been there I would definitely recommend trying it the atmosphere alone with the charcters and napkin twirling is too fun and could possibly make up for bad for if you go on an off day! But I would definitely tryit once and decide from there like I said this is always our must do restaurant we were just really disappointed this time w the food. But the desserts were yummy if that helps they had Mickey domes! and Iaccidentally erased my pics on my camera from the first couple days so I have no pics of chef mickeys I'm so mad because I had alot!

Definitely go for the Characters and atmosphere because like I said the food there is never better than good so it's mediocore anyways! But the atmosphere would definitely make up for it as long as they are not expecting a lavish meal! :thumbsup2

So - our trip is only 5 weeks away :cool1: I thought I'd better start getting ready :goodvibes

So I called WDW dining for two reasons, the first was to ask again about the CRT ressie. I don't know if I brought this up before. I made the ADR online and had it linked to my ressie with the dining plan, but it still charged my CC instead of just using it as a gaurantee. I called that day and the CM told me just to let them know when we check in for our lunch and they will credit our CC and put it on the dining plan. I decided I'd call again and make sure they couldn't do that now. The CM I got said she could try and see if there was availability at the time of our ressie (yeah right :lmao: ) and if so rebook it under the dining plan and then cancel the old one. Of course, there was no availablity - so we weren't going to take the chance of cancelling and rebooking :scared1: She confirmed that I just tell them at the podium. I asked if I needed some sort of proof that I paid and she said the will have that info - I just need to make sure to be the one (since my name is on the ressie) to do it, and have the same card and ID. So it stinks that that money is stuck with Disney for 3 months, but I guess it could have been worse and been 6 months. I wish the CM I talked to back in July would have offered to rebook it - we probably could have then. While I had her on the phone I had her cancel the Garden Grill ressie I had made - we are going to stick with Chef Mickey's. ::MickeyMo Then I had her transfer me to the reservation line. Our flight home was completely changed, so I gave them the new info. I don't know how big of a deal that is, since we check out bags - but since I was on the line anyway I figured it couldn't hurt :)

The best update of the day is one that will make Jordan proud :cloud9: .....

I was just going back and trying to figure out where is was in my planning and I'm only on day 2 - I better get cracking :surfweb: I had a fun morning a friend of mine and her family are taking their first trip to DW the same week we are going, so we met for coffee to talk Disney :wizard: She has never been there, but she is doing a great job of planning her trip - I think they'll have a great time :thumbsup2 They are staying at POP as well, so it will be interesting to see if we run into each other.

The weather has turned here now, so I think I'll get out the suitcase and start putting the warm weather clothes in it - I normally don't like it when it starts to get cold - but this year is the exception :rotfl:

So I think I left off with DTD and BBB - getting Maddie made up, getting pictures, then food. From there we will go to MK, I'm not sure which bus to take - what is the last resort on the loop before MK? I'm thinking that one. I know we could go to the Contemporary and then walk, but I want to conserve our energy - but I don't want to take forever to get there either. Any advice is appreciated

For the party, my main goal is parade, fireworks, a little trick or treating, dance parties and a picture of Maddie with Snow White and the 7 dwarves, since she will be dressed as Snow White. I figure we won't be in the park until 5:30 or so, but we will have eaten, so we can ride a few rides before the party officially starts and then I want to try and get the Snow White picture done. We have watched the parade from Liberty Square in the past and then when it's done, we just moved to the hub for Hallowishes. It's a good time to get a snack and watch the Villans Mix and Mingle. After that we'll hit the dance parties, some more trick or treating and maybe a few rides - but those are just a bonus. It's mostly about soaking up the atmosphere for us :thumbsup2 We will for sure go to the Haunted Mansion to see the characters (I think there is Madame Leota sitting on a bench) and I also think you can get a picture where a Ghost host is sitting on the carriage. Two years ago we made it to the end of the party, so I'm hoping to do the same this time around. We'll play it by ear though and not push DD too far.

A few MNSSHP pictures from 2005 - our first party :woohoo: :

So you will be going to the MK from Downtown Disney? When we were there we ended up just taking the bus to the Contemporary. If there was a direct bus to the MK we didn't see it. :confused3 So maybe that would be your best bet?

Right - there are no direct buses from DTD to the parks (they don't want park only guests parking at DTD) so I'm trying to decide which monorail resort bus to take. I suppose we could take whichever one comes first.

TinkerbellLuvr7

I would take a look at the MK resort routes. For example if you stay at WL and are going to DTD you go to FW first, then TL, then DTD so it's a lot of bus changes so you might want to look into what bus might be a direct route to DTD!!

I am definitely with you on the party planning... atmosphere first, rides second. A pic with the magnificent seven is also a priority since they are so rare.

(I wonder how the "real" Snow White will react when Maddie wants a picture with her boys.... ;)

Do you have JoAnn Fabric Stores near you? If so, some of them have drop-in sewing classes (not always advertised) that you can bring a project and they'll help you if you are stuck.

Just an idea! Good luck! I'm sure it will look great.

Hmmmm....... that has the shortest route taking a bus to Port Orleans Riverside (I think, I'll look again) and then getting a bus to Magic Kingdom. I'll have to see where the bus stops are and what bus comes when. I can see that if you get a bus right away at Port Orleans, but if you just miss one, it could be awhile.

I'm very excited because 2 weeks from now I will be sleeping in my room at Pop Century!!!

I made the mistake for looking at the 15 day forcast and they are predicting a weather cool down and rain the day we get there :rolleyes1 It's been so unusually cold here the last two weeks (we even had flurries yesterday :scared1: ) I really hope we have warm weather when we go. just playing catch-up! no worries on the weather - just put a poncho on and keep going. oh, a good idea is to bring gallon ziploc bags with you. that way if you use a poncho for a quick thunderstorm you can throw them in the ziploc bag and not get everything in your bag wet. you can also use your ponchos more than once this way. those ziploc bags also come in handy to keep cameras and autograph books dry on wet rides. :thumbsup2

If you can get a hold of Tamiflu and there's another one I can't remember, it would help you out. I know people who took the Tamiflu immediately did not suffer as much or as long. Can you only get it if you already have symptoms? I'm not sure.

Of course two of our trips she threw up though. But I think it was just over stimulation. We ran pretty ragged then. Last trip we went at a slower pace and it all worked out so much better.

We made it home! We were sad to leave, but we are exhausted so it's good to be home at the same time. I have no idea when we are going back - it's probably going to be at least 3 years :sad2: so I need to soak up this trip as long as I can.

I have over 700 pictures between myself and SIL, I have them uploaded to my computer, but not photobucket. I hope to start a trip report tomorrow, but we'll see.

The weather was great - maybe 5 minutes of rain the whole trip and no swine flu :woohoo: We had a great time, a few ups and downs, but overall, wonderful
