can any one advise their opinion, this year we went february (mon to fri) 9th to 13th,
however have noticed that on their old brouchers january seems to be cheaper than february,
whats it like around this time is it busy? do they still have the xmas decorations the beginning of january? how crowded is it?
is there any negatives to going in jan instead of feb, (no kids going just adults so we can handle the cold just about lol) the one thing that concerns is that we intend to go on eurostar this time (last time we flew in) does the bad weather stop the trains??
also we are deciding which hotel depending on the price etc, stayed santa fe last time, which was fine for us, but am considering one of the nearer hotels like sequia lodge or if we can afford it the new york hotel, are the indoor pools open this time of the year??

I have been at the beginning on January and at the end.
The end of January was more quiet then the beginning, Yes the beginning of January is still quiet its when the Spanish celebrate one of there holidays so there is lots of Spanish people around.
Christmas decorations come down when the Christmas season is over, so lets say the 6th of January is the last day of Christmas the decorations will be taken down overnight and probably will take a day or 2 to remove. So depending on when you go you may or may not see some.
I liked going both times in January, my only bug bear was the weather. We had have torrential snow and torrential rain :lmao: BUT given that i would go again.
To answer your question about the pools, most are open but some could be closed for refurb. You would need to check with Disney.

I have been twice at the beginning of January. It was much cheaper, rides were generally walk-ons and the weather was cold but mostly dry. In February, it's wise to avoid February half-term if you want the parks to be quieter.

we were there this yr jan 8-12 it was frezzing but our driver told us it usually isnt this cold in jan we had snow and all the lakes and water aera were frozen over but it was dry, christmas season had just finnished, the thur/fri were very quite walk on rides, i rem the flying carpets we didnt even hav to get off for our nxt turn! sat/sun were busy alright but you were only waiting 10/15 min max the lines keep moving so you dont really feel it, we qued 30min for dumbo alright.

this seems like a bit of a mad question but in January do they still have the usual meet and greets, like Mickey, Minnie and the Princesses ... I know you can't go to DLP and not see them but I wondered how they adapt them to the elements ... I loved seeing the snowy pics from those who visited this January :goodvibes

We went January 18th-21st and it was wonderful!!! Will definitely re-visit at this time of year!!
Yes it was COLD! But we wrapped up well and were never desperate to be inside. The xmas decortions were all down, but Mickey's winter wonderland was still showing!
Oh and the rides were all walk ons - all the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Plus we paid less for 3 nights at the DLH in January than we paid for 3 nights at SL in July!!
We travelled ny eurostar and it was fine. :)

We went at the beginning of January this year and loved it so much we have booked the same time next year. We arrived on the 4th and the Xmas seaon ended on the 6th but it was a few days after that before all the decoration were gone. It was extremely cold this year and we had snow on the ground for nearly the full trip but with thermals and a do or die attitude we survived it and loved it.
Now just waiting for Disney to release the hotels rooms for my trip.
