Ok, so the temps in Texas are climbing up. We are heading out for a 12:30 baseball game for my son. I am one of the coaches, not a big hat guy, but got the great semi bald look going. As an after thought heading out the door the door I grab the sunscreen. First time needed this year. Then.............................................. ......................Bam......the Disney smell. First thing in the parks each day we get our sunscreen going. It just has that rope drob feel and smell. We all had a good laugh and realized....28 days.
You have a non traditional Disney thing that makes you think Disney?

Ignoring the fact I'm a crazy DISer and I think Disney 99% of the time......
There's sometimes a smell nrea trains or on the London Underground that smells just like BTMRR!!
Also if I smell or eat Banana bread I am instantly having breakfast in DLRP, as the disneylandh hotel there has the most delicious bana bread and I ate way too much of it every day we were there!

It's so funny that you posted this because just today I was thinking there should be a thread like this. It's starting to get pretty hot here in SC and I turned on the AC in my car on high for the first time this year. Suddenly, that cold, slightly musty smell, transfered me instantly to my favorite WDW resort! :goodvibes

I bought some coconut scented room spray from Yankee Candle recently because the scent reminds me of the Beach Club lobby. :flower3:

Mine is scent-related too!
Whenever I smell oranges (usually because my coworker is peeling one) I immediately think of being on Soarin'. Makes me happy :goodvibes

I bet the majority of these will be tied to scents since scent is the sense most linked the memory! So interesting :thumbsup2

Yeah it is great how we can associate other smells like these with our favorite stuff. Every trip we have done a character breakfast at AK. We are always in a near empty park because we do it on none EMH days. Sometimes here after it rains it has that AK morning, damp smell.

We always bring bagels with us to have in the room for breakfast so that we can just eat in the room and head directly to the parks. So, pretty much everytime I have an everything bagel with plain cream cheese I instantly think of Disney.

Since we stayed at the POP last time out any old tv show themes or old commercials bring me back to the bus rides. Also steel drum music reminds me of when we stayed at CBR.

Every time I hear a song from a Jimmy Buffett mix CD we made, I think of Disney. We listened to it all the way down to WDW last summer.

We've been to all over including Yellowstone, Hawaii, Mexico and the Caribbean...but it's always memories of Disney that come flooding back when there are certain scents; A fresh spring rain, blooming trees, hand lotions (yes, hand lotions) I cannot wait to get back. Only 12 more days! :cool1:

At the diner near our apartment, they use the same orangey deodorizer in the bathrooms as they use in a lot of the MK bathrooms. Of course, it's our favorite diner! :rotfl:

Every day when I wash my hair I think of it because the shampoo and conditioner I'm using now (L'oreal Vive in the gold bottle) smells like it to me. I can't pinpoint the scent but I seriously get visions of WDW in my head when I wash my hair, LOL. :lovestruc

Today I took my daughter to a birthday party that was being held in an indoor waterpark. I went to the closet to get a beach bag to put our towels and clean clothes in and I pulled out the Disney Bag that I bought at the Wilderness Lodge last summer. I was so wishing that I was going to BB or TL.

Whenever I see a comfy looking pair of shoes, I wonder how they'd be for Disney. And, of course, Crocks always scream "Disney".;)

I went to the park today with my DW, and we sat on a bench in the shade looking over the trees and grass. The sun was shining, and you couldn't hear any traffic, and I was immediately "there." And we spent a hour talking about our Disney Cruise we are planning for Sept 2010.
Only 23 days until AKL Villas.

There was something recently that reminded me of the smell of a Disney bus - can't remember what that was. This is probably the strangest one though - whenever I get into the elevator at work, I feel like I'm in the elevators at Pop Century. I don't think its the smell - maybe the size/color? :confused3 Totally weird - but I enjoy reminiscing.:goodvibes

GROCERY SHOPPING!! haha. Whenever I buy granola bars, or pre-packed things like applesauce. And then, I start looking for good park snacks... and then I get home and start looking for good park snack recipes... and then I give them a test run to see how easy they are to put together... :rotfl:
It's a downward spiral.
OH and I did spot a HUGE hidden mickey on an Office Max truck the other day. I actually took a picture of it with my phone.... but I can't get the picture from my phone to the computer. :headache: Oh well, just picture 3 HUGE rubber band balls in the shape of a hidden mickey! haha. I literally was talking to my mom on the phone and was like ::gasp:: let me call you right back!

When they run the Cirque du Soleil commercial on regular tv. They don't do it often, but two days ago, I was in the kitchen cooking and it came on and BOOM! a flashback to being in the room and seeing it on the resort tv. Also, they often use the same music clips that they play at WL in the background for advertisements, especially for western tv shows. That happened yesterday - another BOOM! flashback to being in the WL lobby waiting for my room to be ready.

I thought that buses should remind me of disney -- the buses they use on Disney property are the same model as the city buses in New York City (I assume other cities as well) ... same seats, seating arrangements etc, just a different color. Thing is, the oh-so-happy people going to work in the morning don't look like their on vacation!! :rotfl:
In other seriousness ... whenever I drive into a nice gated community on a nice sunny day it always feels like driving into a disney resort like OKW.

I have a vanilla body spray I used for our first Disney trip and every trip after that. I don't use it much at home so when I do it reminds me of Disney. Also the smell of hot blacktop reminds me of Disney.

I had a massage yesterday, and of all places to be all I could think of was Disney. I was lying there with my head in the hole...music that sounded like the Epcot 'end of the day, get the heck out' music was playing and all of a sudden I was standing at Epcot under the monorail. I could hear the monorail whoosh by and could smell the fountain. I love the smell of that fountain! We don't leave until 9/27!! Arrgh!

This one is kinda strange, but oh well! Whenever I am driving at night and a car comes around a turn, I think of and am immediately on Space Mountain. It reminds me of the cars hurtling around the turns at SM instantly and I just smile and get that wonderful homesick feeling!!
There is also a bird around here that sounds "to a T" exactly like ones at WL so hearing them here in the summer brings me there.
One more! Whenever we scrape a patio chair across the ground to sit down, we are immediately at WL, pulling out a chair by the pool.
I can pretty much tie anything I do to a favorite moment at WDW!! :goodvibes
Great thread!!!!!

Okay, I know it over 90 frequently at Disney as of late, but it's been a very long winter and spring here in Nebraska.
The smell of humidity, along with freshly cut lawns, blooming flowers flat out smells like every morning at Disney.

I try to be a little more green at work so I drink out of a plastic cup instead of a new disposable paper cup everytime. Well, when I go to rinse out my cup (because I am too lazy to properly wash it) I use a "mug wash" just like the ones at the resort drink stations.
Also, in Oregon our license plates typically go xxx ### or ### xxx and with the Dis, we use a lot of 3 letter abbrev. like CSR and ToT so any time I see those I go OHHHH.

That was what I was going to say...every time we are behind an NJ Transit bus, my dd says, "Ahh, the sweet smell of Disney" :rotfl: She's right, I always think of Disney when I smell that!

Maybe this is strange and maybe it's not...I'm not sure...but when I go with my wife and son to the Minnesota Zoo, I get that "Disney" feeling. I have no idea why...not the same smells or anything...no rides. But I have been going to the MN Zoo since it was built back in the late 70's and I was a grade schooler. I have seen exhibits come and go, some good some bad. This past year we became members which means we can go anytime we want...sort of like becoming annual passholders.
I know I prefer going to Disney any day. But going to the Zoo has a little bit of that same familiar "specialness" for me. Plus it's alot of fun, especially now that I can go with my son.

The smell of water, like in IASM or POC, it always brings me back. Also anytime I buy something I save the change for our next trip for souveniers, tips, penny machines, things like that. I do it every year, so when I hear change jingling in pockets or someone drops it I think "Disney Money."

I am a pharmacy tech and whenever I am counting out round pills, I pour them on the counting tray and almost all the time 3 will fall together to form a hidden mickey. Always makes me think of WDW.

I set my watch to go off at 11:30 everyday to make sure we stopped to eat lunch before the CS restaurants got busy. As it went off the rest of the summer at that time it always made us stop and think.
Whenever we have strawberry shortcake, it always reminds us of HDDR.
Don't ask me to explain this one, but my 7-year-old got her hand slammed in the door at school and I took her to the hospital for x-rays. As we were walking down the corrider she remarked 'this reminds me of Disney World!' :confused3 She couldn't really explain why but the ladies working admissions got a real kick out of that when I mentioned it to them.

Seeing a palm tree. Well, now not so much, because I live in an area that has many of them.
There is a "town center" style mall near us that has a themed water tower and fountain at the entrance. DH and I agree it must have been designed by someone who has been to Disney.
The other day I was in a building that smelled like the Ellen's energy adventure dinosaur scene. You know, the smoky mist smell there? DH and I both agreed, it smelled like Disney!

I work in an office building that is up the street from a city hall with police/fire department. Sometimes the fire trucks come up the street without the siren, only honking the horn. That firetruck horn sounds just like the boats at the WL!! I have sat at my cube a few times and thought "oh, there's the boat" - then I realize I'm in the Midwest with concrete and trees all around me. :rotfl: What's even worse is the realization that I'm at my cube and there is work to do! :scared1: Sure puts a buzzkill on my daydreaming

I have to add another one from mothers day. We were letting mom rest, so my and the son went out to wash the van and truck. Every year the day before we leave I was the van beyond clean. Has that clean feel as we load it up to leave the next morning. When I was done it felt like we were ready to leave.

There is a scenic railway near our house and every time the train whistle blows I say to DH, "That reminds me so much of Disney!"
Also if I sit on our deck early in the morning (before 7) there is something about the quality of the light that feels like a Disney morning. Kinda hard to explain, but I hope ya know what I mean! :confused3
Very fun thread!
