I really want to surprise my twin girls (10) -in October when we go on our cruise -with a dolphin swim/ or encounter. I think the swim would be just plain....awesome!! But financially I am just planning for the encounter. I have never cruised before, and don't know what it like when you leave the ship at ports. To be honest I don't even know what the schedule is as far as where exactly, ( of course I know Nassau and Castayaway Cay, but which first, etc) and times of arrival and departure. We are doing the 3 night Oct 24-27. So first, how can I find that out- (when we'll be at Nassau), and then question #2- is that Blue Lagoon place at Nassau, and if so is it easy to find?? Is that where I should do this from?? Do we need to taxi there? And one more- is it best to book these kind of things through Disney or on your own? Help me out please, I want to get it booked, I know they fill fast. Thanks:D

I think you will have a fantastic time doing either the encounter or the swim. My son (8) and I had a super experience doing the encounter.
I booked this on my own ($75pp for encounter) and I did have to know what day we would be in Nassau, they even asked the times you arrive/leave. Since I booked this myself, I needed transportation to the ferry terminal, we took a taxi ($4pp). The ferry takes you to/from Blue Lagoon Dolphin encounters/swims.
The folks that book the encounter thru disney will get picked up by the ferry just a little ways from the ship. Booking through disney for the encounter was approx. $113.50. The difference of $38.50 must be the cost for the ferry to pick up near the ship.
Kinda interesting...another family, my son and I booked this excursion on our own. We stayed on the ferry on the return trip and was dropped off with everyone else from the disney ship, no one noticed and we saved the return taxi fare.
Good luck on whatever you try to do! And, just my opinion, but the encounter was worth every penny spent, it was great!

My sons and I did the encounter in Freeport in 2000. This was the best and economically what I could afford. The excusion in Freeport is much cheaper than Nassau so see if you are stopping in Freeport on your sailing. We had a ball!!!

If your girls like Mary Kate and Ashely Olsen movies, make sure they watch "Holiday In The Sun". They are in Nassau and they swim with the dolphins. My twin daughters (8) want to do this, but we are going on the Western cruise this year (7 day) and I don't think I can afford it this time. But next year we are going to do the 3 day cruise and thought we would do it as a surprise for their 10th birthday.
This is our third year of going on the Disney Cruise for their birthday. I fear we have started a tradition! Have fun!

westjones, my twins LOVE Mary Kate and Ashley!! We have the entire collection:rolleyes: and they've seen that one too, and that is where I got this idea- that they have to do it just like the olsen twins. haha
Sounds like a lot of fun! Thanks for the replys!!
