So, I thought I’d attempt a PTR – my first one ever. I will admit I’m a little nervous about this, so bear with me.

First up, the cast will be:

Me – Lisa: wife, mom, homeschooler, lover of travel, stay-at-home mom, self-employed doing p/t at-home office administration. My favourite Disney character is, without a doubt, Pluto pluto: – I :lovestruc him!

Dh – we’ll call him Grumpy: husband, dad, lover of travel, isn’t all that “into” Disney, but knows how much fun we all have there so tolerates it well. His favourite Disney character is Tinkerbell – if :tinker: was actually a real person, my marriage would be in trouble!

Ds#1 – we’ll call him Tigger :tigger:: 10yo, gifted academically, handsome dude, extremely spirited, very active and, if he only knew he was going back to WDW, he’d be over-the-moon thrilled! His favourite Disney character is Pluto with Mickey a close second.

Ds#2 – we’ll call him Mickey :smickey:: 7yo, also a handsome dude, very smart, very sweet and loving, loves his big brother to bits, loves playing baseball and gets unnaturally attached to pants that are too short for him! His favourite Disney character is Mickey.

I will try to add pictures where I can – I’m not a very conscientious picture-taker, but I’m getting better at remembering to have the thing with me these days (hard to take pictures without actually having the camera with me!)

The idea of this trip was born on Dec. 28, 2008 (our 15th anniversary). A little background first: We went to WDW last October with most of dh’s family. I was surprised by what a great “fit” WDW was for us and, particularly for ds#1, whose behaviour was stellar and was so obviously enjoying himself every single day. Thinking about the joyous faces of both of our boys made WDW the obvious choice for a future vacation. However, finances being what they are, a future vacation looked to be quite far off in our future – we figured it would be a couple of years before we could take a trip again. :sad1:

However, my sweet dh evidently had a secret plan!

When I woke up that morning and came into the kitchen, there was quite a surprise waiting for me. My studly dh was sitting at the kitchen table smiling at me and nodding towards the middle of the table – in the middle of the table was a bottle of my favourite champagne (Moet et Chandon Imperial Rose) surrounded by cash! Yep, cold hard cash splayed in a circle around my champagne! He laughed at my expression of disbelief, then was mildly offended for a second when I asked him which bank he robbed :rotfl:. When we stopped laughing, he told me that the money was most of his bonus from work – with which I could plan a vacation. :cloud9:

When I started looking around for destinations, WDW was on the list, but so were a lot of other places (Nice (we really loved it there), the Caribbean, Hawaii, Disneyland, etc.). I ran the numbers for every conceivable vacation and found that WDW was really the most cost-effective trip for us. So, once I had called our amazing TA (Christine at Fairytale Dreams & Destinations in Ontario) and put a deposit down, I really started to watch airfares out of SeaTac and keep an eye out for WDW discounts.

What kind of deal would I find for airfare? Would I get the flights we wanted? Would a WDW discount become available for our dates? Hmmm…..:confused3

I'm here, I'm here! I'm just finishing up our homeschooling reports before I update my PTR - only 3 more HS reports and we're done for the "school" season  I have to say, though, that the boys and I are having a great time spending the moolah we receive for those reports - so I really can't complain :rotfl:

Update (and pictures!) coming up soon! :flower3:

Nope, I send the reports to our Learning Consultant via email, who works for the umbrella homeschooling organization we registered with. I really like how it's all handled - I just submit a report every week that's just about some of the stuff they did or saw or talked about or whatever; and they give me money (in the form of a VISA card for each boy) to be spent on educational resources (which is a VERY broad range of items LOL) - no testing, no evaluation, no nothing else if I don't request it.

We're almost through the money now (it needs to be spent by the end of this month or it's gone lol). We're going to HMV today to get the Blue Planet DVD full set and to Wal-Mart to get skateboards and knee/elbow pads - yes, the definition of "educational resources" really is that broad LOL

Wooohoooo for saving $50!

Sorry, I realized after seeing if these pictures actually posted that one of the several jocks in our house is in the background - for anyone who doesn't have boys/husbands who play sports, I apologize for the picture, but ds#2 insisted that you all need to see Wall-E LMAO

Now, to find the pictures from WDW last year... :confused3

Thank you  Yes, we get about $1100/school year for each boy, by doing the weekly reporting the way we've registered. It covers a lot of stuff each year and we sure do appreciate it! :goodvibes

Why is it that while I was reading through your itinerary all I could really focus on was the food part? Now I'm thinking about some yummy ribs and chicken...thanks! :lmao: Seriously though, I think you're plans look great. The first day seems so nice and relaxing. :thumbsup2 I didn't see Soarin' on any of the Epcot days. Are you guys not fans? Btw, I'm a huge TT fan too. DH isn't all that impressed, but I think it's a blast!

Nope, Soarin' isn't a priority for us. If we have time, we'll do it kwim?

Wow! What a schedule!

How do you pick where you want to eat; that's the one part I am stuck on!!

I scour my UG (mine is last year's WDW with Kids version) and my 2009 Passporter for restaurant/food info, I read lots here on the DIS and I show my dh the menus (after I've already decided on the meals - but don't tell him, k?)

Thanks for posting!

Thanks! Sadly, no, he'll be gone already - he goes to Disneyland after Sept. 5th

I don't know, I wish they would keep him there - we'd all be thrilled to see him! :headache: Unfortunately, no, Sept. 5th is the last day for him :sad1:

What kind of deal would I find for airfare? Would I get the flights we wanted? Would a WDW discount become available for our dates? Hmmm…..:confused3

I forgot to answer my own questions

I watched airfare on way too many sites for well over four months. Yes, you read that right - FOUR months  Dh and I did lot of hammering out the final trip dates, based on what days he decided he could be away from work kwim? Of course, I changed the final trip dates - oh, about 17 times or so, based on fare and travel times :rolleyes1 One morning, I did the usual checking of multiple sites with the usual annoying results. Then, I was evidently bored later in the day because I decided to check the same sites again! Well, well, turns out that the flights we wanted had dropped in price for our dates :woohoo: I told dh to get on the phone with VISA (his ticket was purchased with VISA points) and told him the flight information, so that he and I could book at the same time (me online and him on the phone).

So happy with the final price - CDN$370 each, return/all in! We got the redeye flight we wanted going (unfortunately, there is no longer a direct redeye from any airline from Seattle to MCO :headache: so we took a redeye with a quick stop in Atlanta, which should work just fine for us) and a direct flight coming back that leaves MCO in the evening. Perfect!

I'd estimated CDN$1200 for our 3 flights and the taxes on DH's free flight - and we came in under budget! Not that I have an Excel table for my budget or anything, nope, I don't have one. Don't have an Excel table for trip planning either, not me :rolleyes1

As for a discount, I don't even know why I worried....

You've been to Disney Land in Paris? How is it. I would love  to go. My very best friend is from Canada. She came over about 10 years ago because at that time nursing jobs were bad in Canada. Now I think its the opposite, anyway she ended up married with children. So now she's stuck. :woohoo: We worked together for about 8 years. She is the the funnest person I have ever met in my life. Anyway, I would love to visit Canada someday, her Dad has a cabin we could stay in.

YAY for coming in under budget!!! Gotta love that. Bummer that you have to stop but at least you can stretch your legs for a few right?

When they released the Military special on tickets I about went through the roof!!!! I was so excited 1 free five day and 5 others at $99!!!!! so then we added park hoppers and water parks and more!

okay maybe i should put that in my own pre-trippy but I love saving money so I thought I'd share!

I need to get a disney excel sheet! do you have a blank copy you could email me(see this is me being lazy not wanting to set it up!!) :lmao:

WOW:scared1::scared1::scared1: The cost of plane tix costs half as much as our upcoming trip!! Times like this make me happy I do not fly!! But I'm glad you got a good deal:thumbsup2

OK, I've finished last week's HS reporting, so I thought I should share our tentative plans for our vacation. I can't wait to finalize our ADRs for our awesome TA - yay!!!

Here's what I have (of course, this could all change when the park hours come out LOL):

Day 1
~ Arrive at MCO at about 9:30am
~ Take ME to ASMu - I'm estimating we'll be at ASMu by about 10:30am
~ Check in (although I'm sure our room won't be ready yet) and drop everything off at Bell Services
~ Take our first WDW bus of the vacation to DTD for lunch and shopping
~ Return to ASMu mid-afternoon to get settled into our room, go for a swim, have dinner at ASMu and enjoy the pool activities/movie

Day 2
~ Tusker House character breakfast (8:05am)
~ Ride Safari
~ Hit our must-do rides (Everest, Kali, Dinosaur, Lion King (haven't seen that yet, looking forward to it) and Whirl)
~ Flame Tree for late lunch (hmmmm ... can almost taste those ribs!)
~ Do the rides/see the stuff we haven't done yet or want to do again
~ ASMu for dinner, pool time and movie

Day 3
~ Hit Epcot for rope drop
~ Ride Test Track then get a FP to ride again! :woohoo:
~ Hit our must-do ride (M:S (for dh and the boys, NOT me lol) and ride those we missed last time (Crush, Spaceship Earth, Universe of Energy (ds#1 will LOVE that one, guaranteed!)
~ Early lunch at Boulangerie Patisserie (ahhh, French food, LOVE IT!)
~ Wander around WS and take the time to enjoy each pavilion
~ Biergarten for dinner (6:00pm)
~ Back to ASMu for pool/movie

Day 4
~ Crystal Palace for breakfast (8:05am)
~ Hit our must-do rides (BTMRR, Splash, Buzz, HM, PotC & Tomorrowland Speedway) and get to those we missed last time (Country Bear, TTA)
~ Have a late lunch/early dinner at Columbia Harbour House (dh's request)

Day 5
~ Open day
~ Late breakfast/early lunch at ASMu
~ Hang out at resort, go to DTD, visit Animal Kingdom Lodge
~ Dinner at Boma (5:00pm)

Day 6
~ Hit MK for rope drop
~ Do whatever we missed on Day 4 or want to do again
~ Have an early lunch at Cosmic Ray's (chicken/ribs plate, anyone? lol)
~ Back to ASMu for dinner and pool/movie

Day 7
~ Hit DHS for rope drop
~ Hit our must-do rides (Star Tours, RnRC & ToT (again, for my men, NOT me lol) and TSM) and get to those we missed last time (Jedi show, Muppets, Great Movie Ride)
~ Late breakfast/early lunch at some counter service
~ Dinner at Sci-Fi (6:00pm), dh's request
~ Back to hotel

Day 8
~ Epcot for rope drop
~ Early lunch somewhere in WS (probably Boulangerie Patisserie)
~ Hit everything we missed on day 3 or want to do again - I'm doin' TT :yay:
~ Dinner at Chefs de France (6:00pm) because I love my dh (oh, and I love French food as much as he does! lol)
~ Back to hotel

Day 9 - last day... :sad2:
~ Breakfast at Chef Mickey's (9:00am)
~ Check out of hotel, store bags at Bell Services
~ Go to DTD and get Goofy treats to take home :thumbsup2

You've been to Disney Land in Paris? How is it. I would love  to go. My very best friend is from Canada. She came over about 10 years ago because at that time nursing jobs were bad in Canada. Now I think its the opposite, anyway she ended up married with children. So now she's stuck. :woohoo: We worked together for about 8 years. She is the the funnest person I have ever met in my life. Anyway, I would love to visit Canada someday, her Dad has a cabin we could stay in.

Yes, we spent a grand total of about 1/2 day in DL Paris. It was a side trip for us, we just love hangin' out in the city! LOL One thing though, it was pretty awesome being able to enjoy a Disney park walking around eating an authentic crepe - heaven on earth, those things are! :cloud9:

We're generally a funny bunch, hey? Jim Carrey, Mike Myers, Dan Akroyd, John Candy, etc. - all canucks

Where's your dad's cabin?

YAY for coming in under budget!!! Gotta love that. Bummer that you have to stop but at least you can stretch your legs for a few right?

When they released the Military special on tickets I about went through the roof!!!! I was so excited 1 free five day and 5 others at $99!!!!! so then we added park hoppers and water parks and more!

okay maybe i should put that in my own pre-trippy but I love saving money so I thought I'd share!

I need to get a disney excel sheet! do you have a blank copy you could email me(see this is me being lazy not wanting to set it up!!) :lmao:

Yes, I don't mind the stop going - it arrives at just before 6am and leaves less than an hour later I think. So, we can all snooze on the flight from Seattle to Atlanta, then just sort of dreamwalk to the second flight before we have to wake up - in Orlando! :woohoo:

That's an awesome deal on the tickets! The MYW tickets are expensive! :scared1:

Yep, I'll PM it to you :thumbsup2

What are your dates again?

Sept. 12-20. The itinerary is really preliminary - I can't nail anything down without those darn park hours! The whole thing could change completely! :headache:
WOW:scared1::scared1::scared1: The cost of plane tix costs half as much as our upcoming trip!! Times like this make me happy I do not fly!! But I'm glad you got a good deal:thumbsup2

Lucky you that WDW only costs you that much! My budget is CDN$4000 for the trip and I'm just squeaking in under that amount :lmao:

It's not cheap to fly from one side of the country to another, but boy, is it worth it! :dance3:

And yes, we LOVE French food - if we could transplant ourselves to France, preferably in the south, we'd be happy campers! LOL

Your itinerary sounds great. I love your choices. We're rope droppers too. :wizard: Gotta love starting out early!

Thanks! I really hope I can force get my men out of the room in time LOL!

It took me a while to figure out what RotM is - I don't "do" motion simulators, so that one was a no-go for me, but dh and our boys  it! Seriously, my boys are insane - ds#1's favourite ride at US/IOA was the Hulk Coaster (my dh's favourite too) and ds#2's favourite ride there was Jurassic Park! :rotfl2:

Hey there!

Popped over as soon as I realized you were doing a Pre-Trippie. Now I get to learn all about you and your family.

I use Christine at Fairytale destinations too. Well, once I didn't. I thought I could work my own way around the discounts by sticking with CAA and using their discount. I found out later there were some other discount codes available and I know she could have easily found me one so in the end I was sorry I didn't go through her. I've learnt my lesson.

I think you've put a lot of thought into your itinerary. I like that you have a rest arrival day (expecially due to your funky flight times). It sounds like your plans are realistic and doable.

Looking forward to hearing all about your trip and the lead up to it. Thanks for letting us live vicariously through you. Do me one favor okay? Be sure to include a melt down or two for me. Even if it's a description of the family beside you. Oh yeah, and another thing (boy I'm getting a little demanding here aren't I?) warnings before any major castle sightings are good too. Gives me time to get my kleenex on hand.

Hope you had a good Victoria Day Weekend!

So, I've been working really hard at home today :rolleyes1 Well, maybe not

After my boys and I thoroughly checked out our new Rosetta Stone French program (which is awesome!), I set them up with some math to do and told them I had some work to do on the computer. Well, between you and me, not so much work to do as "not work" to do :rotfl2:

I went to the Disney website and printed off the available on-site restaurant menus (which are so cool!). They don't have that many menus available, but those they do have look just like the actual restaurant menus :thumbsup2 Here's the website:
http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/restaurants/

Then I filed them in my lime green "no, honey, it's not my Disney binder, it's just a binder that I put stuff in sometimes" binder in the restaurant menu section :lmao: Nope, no planning for me :rolleyes1

I also went to the Atlanta airport site to print off the airport information. Dh is just a teeny bit antsy about flying into and out of ATL, due to it's massive size and the horror stories others have been so kind as to share with him  True, the airport has 6 concourses and we don't have a clue which gate/concourse our flight will arrive from and depart from - but hey, life's an adventure (and I now have maps!) :rotfl:

Personally, I'm looking forward to hearing that Southern accent again! :woohoo: Hmmmm.... we'll be landing at 5:54am and departing (for MCO!!!) at 7:55am - so I'm thinking I could get some grits and relive a tiny portion of the "Thelma & Louse" trip my best friend and I took many moons ago (you know, way fun but without the violence and driving off a cliff thing). Ooooh, maybe they'll have pralines there! I'm going to make use of that two hour layover :yay:

Dh is just a teeny bit antsy about flying into and out of ATL, due to it's massive size and the horror stories others have been so kind as to share with him  True, the airport has 6 concourses and we don't have a clue which gate/concourse our flight will arrive from and depart from - but hey, life's an adventure (and I now have maps!) :rotfl:
Its really not THAT bad! I did it with 2 littles once (w/o my DH) and we made it!

It's tres cool - can't wait to start using it (we're all going to use it - me, Grumpy, Tigger and Mickey!) and one day in the future, we're only going to speak French to each other - that should be entertaining! :rotfl:

We've had TONS of layovers in Atlanta before - Atlanta to San Francisco is NOT fun. It really isn't that bad...at least, we've never had an experience. ::knock on wood:: Plus, they have Chili's quick serve locations where you can get yummy chips and salsa (my favorite). :thumbsup2 Granted, Chili's isn't southern food but the chips and salsa are tasty -- and you can carry them on!

What an amazing surprise your "Grumpy" husband gave you! (He doesn't sound all that grumpy to me!)

Your boys are so handsome. To tell you the truth, when I was looking at that picture, I didn't even notice the article of protective sports equipment in the background!

Are you staying at one of the ASMu family suites or the traditional room?

Yes, I can't wait to be done with those reports until September (this week I'm doing the annual review thing, so a bit of extra work for me; next week is the last report I have to submit!!!).

I'll be doing the update when we get home from Tigger's baseball game - he's in the playoffs! Well, all the teams are in the playoffs at the beginning, but it's still exciting! lol

Love that your secret WDW binder is lime green!

It never even occured to me to check out what kind of foods they had available at my layover airports. We did Atlanta last summer but were only supposed to have a layover under an hour. It turned out to be a bit over an hour but other than going to the bathroom we never left the gate.

Honestly, we really do prefer the redeye (I TOLD you we're weird LOL). Both boys and my dh can sleep easily on a plane (me, not so much, but I can go until the next evening without sleep and function relatively well - but only on vacation, I can't do that in real life! LOL), so we like to travel during sleep time.

I'd be happy to share my spreadsheet with you, but while trying to send it to another lovely poster, I discovered that I had to send it to her via regular email (we couldn't figure out a way to send a document via the DIS). Please email me if you'd like and I'll send it to you :thumbsup2

OK, here's my tardy update - such as it is! :rolleyes1

ADR worries
I'm a tad worried about getting the ADRs I want - not that I REALLY know which ADRs I want yet because we don't have park hours for me to truly plan the ADRs. Oooooh, it's a vicious cycle! :headache::rotfl2:

I've been reading that people are having some trouble getting what they want for ADRs in August - I hope that won't be true for mid-September too! :scared1: Not that I'll be on the phone with Disney (thank you, Christine, thank you! :flower3:), but still! Anyone else worried?

The "It's not a Disney binder, honey!" binder
I've been adding more stuff to my lime green "not a Disney binder, honey" binder :rotfl: All of you queens of trip organization and lime green binders, what am I missing? I KNOW I'm missing stuff, I just know it! :scared: Here's what I have, in order (I tried to put everything in the order in which it will be needed during our trip - can we say OCD? I know that we can! I wonder who will "get" that reference - I'm probably older than everyone here) LOL:

1. Stuff we could need at the US border - plane ticket confirmation numbers, hotel reservation information, etc.

2. MasterPark reservation confirmation and their website coupons (this is airport valet parking, WAY cheaper than actually parking at the airport in Seattle! We used MasterPark last time and loved the service)

3. Printout of maps of Atlanta Airport's terminals and all concourses - gonna get me some southern cookin'!

4. Stuff we'll need at hotel check-in - another copy of our WDW package confirmation, ASMu map, All-Star building number information (may need if they assign us a room other than what I requested), Garden Grocer order confirmation (at this point, it's just a draft order, but it will be an order confirmation later lol), printout of sample ASMu pool activities for Tigger/Mickey to see on the plane

5. The all-important trip schedule :rotfl: This includes daily ADR information, daily park information, fastpass attraction list, etc.

6. Listing of all restaurants that are on the DDP, divided into three columns (snack, QS and TS), divided by park/resort

7. Restaurant menus (printed from Disney's site and from allears.com) for all the restaurants we're planning on visiting and on some restaurants we may visit

So, what am I missing? I know there's stuff I'm missing :confused3

Telling the boys
So, we're not telling they boys until about two weeks before we leave this time - to protect ourselves from the daily "when are we going to Disney? Is it today?!" chanted by Tigger and Mickey at increasingly frequent intervals (and increasingly at inopportune times! Asking me when we're going on vacation while I'm on the loo isn't really going to get the answer they want, right?) :headache::rotfl2:

I was thinking about how to tell them. What about just turning around the non-Disney binder cover sheet (that really isn't just turned around backwards so nobody can see it, it really isn't!) and asking them to take a look at my binder to see if they want one like it? :confused3

What did you do to tell your monkeys? Did you wait until close to the trip date or tell them WAY TOO FAR AHEAD like we did :headache:

We did not tell DS the first time until we were on the plane. He thought we were going to see relatives. He was small so it was easy to fool him, ever since he is so involved in the planning that we havent kept it a secret. We are thinking of doing a Disney cruise in 2010 and do not plan to tell him until right before.

Maybe you could make them gift baskets or t-shirts that say I am going to Disney and give to them.

Or play a game with them and do like a scavenger hunt to find clues and the last one can tell them about the trip.

Here's my OCD answer to your above questions

1) Tell the Kids.
I've always told the kids so sorry no help there. Kuddos to you for being able to keep it a secret.

2) Binder Info
I had two binders. The big one with all the information in it and a smaller one (pocket picture album size) that I take into the park.

In my big binder I also had
-mapquest directions to and from the airport as I'll be tired driving home and to reverse the east to the west just takes too much time.
-a small pencil case (with the three rings in it) in this binder with a couple pens. I also keep a couple of american dollars in the pencil case as we have to pay tolls on our way to airport.
-my mousekeeping envelopes in this binder ready to go. If I can I will put money in them so they are ready to go. I was making one for each day but I have found that the staff seem to just take the money and leave the envelope so I still have tons.
-lists of all things disney, what needs to be done, what needs to be bought, timelines for packing etc..
-My favorite piece of paper of all time. The Disney Contract I make Dh and the kids sign. I had a lot of trouble with Dh on our first trip. He wasn't happy about moving early in the mornings but has since seen that the early morning thing is good and I promise him time to nap/lounge in the afternoon.

In the smaller park version I have the stuff I need in the park each day.
-times for things I might want to do like the electric parade schedule, movies at fort wilderness schedule.
-the times to all the characters greets and shows (Jedi training etc) from Steve Soare's site. You can't do it until about a week before.
-List of the photopass "funky" pictures ie simba at AK in front of tree of life, Captain hook near POC in MK.
-printed chart of where the pressed pennies all are.
-a copy of the touring plans from unofficial guides in it. The pocket versions as well as a print out of the ones from Tour Guide Mike. Naturally my park binder is organized in sections by parks.
-a copy of a printout with the best viewing places for fire/works and parades from Tour Guide Mike in it.
-couple hidden mickeys to look for in favorite rides. I hand write them from the book I have just in case.
-a small pocket size chart for my plans each day including ADR #s. It's a pretty simple table chart that lists each meal, a morning, afternoon and evening activity, and I include which parks have EMH whether morning or evening just in case we change the plan (Heaven forbid!) and need to do something else.

If you're looking for things to do have you made your lime green mickey heads for your luggage and park bags yet?

Have you visited the Dollar store and bought rain ponchos, Disney window clings for your hotel window, clothes pins to hang your wet bathing suits up on the lines in the bathroom or light up jewelry for the parks at night?

Have you bought the notebook you're going to capture your park memories in and then turn them into a trip report later?

Boy writing this all down again really makes me wish I had another trip to plan. Sigh. I've agreed to wait until 2011.

I had to prepare my Eeoyre (DS10) quite a bit the first trip. We watched rides on Youtube, read the descriptions of them in the Unofficial guide and birenbaums for kids. Most importantly we had a backup plan if Eeoyre didn't want to go on the ride with us. He was assigned to Poppa (my dad). They were partners the whole trip. Poppa didn't care if he went on the rides or not. He just wanted Eeoyre to be happy. (I know, I know very sweet). So Eeoyre always knew he was riding with Poppa, or waiting it out with him. Sometimes Eeoyre had enough stimulation and he and Poppa would leave us at the park.

Having a "plan" for each day also helped. Eeoyre knew what to expect and felt confident checking each item off the list. Plus the plan meant I had one less thing to think about.

I'm impressed with Diamond's binder too!

I have to confess I didn't make my binder all myself.

A very good likeminded OCD friend was heading to Disney a couple months before my families first trip. We made the binder together and it has travelled to Disney with some of my other friends as well over the years.

On a sad note my friend passed away from Cancer last fall a year after her Disney trip. She didn't know she had cancer until three months before she died. It was breast cancer. She was 40 when she died.

She did most of the work getting us organized. I have just kept it up over the years as sort of an hommage to her.

To answer your mickey head question.

I can't find the photo anymore but it's in my old trip report so here is the link. Just scroll down to the picture of my lime green park bag.

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=27838146&postcount=219

It shows my hey's travelbag (Actually the bag was my friend's who passed away) with two mickey heads.

There is one that I covered front and back with clear acetate (it was from a report cover that I cut up) and closed the sides with clear tape. Then i taped a safety pin to the back so it was like a button.

There is another one that I squeezed into the clear side of the luggage tag that disney sent me. The problem being that it was just one-sided and I was forever turning it back around so people could see it.

Worse case scenario. Take the mickey heads to staples. I'm sure they have a laminator. Punch a hole in them and attach them by string to your park bag.

Anyhow, I have faith in your creativity. I'm sure you can come up with something.

For some reason, Tigger has absolutely no problem with any rides. He's definitely a thrill ride kind of guy, as is Mickey. For instance, he went on the Incredible Hulk Coaster at IOA and LOVED it :scared1: On the other hand, we don't really do the tamer rides because neither boy likes them much :confused3

I think it's sweet that your dad enjoys hangin' out with Eeyore :goodvibes

Having a "plan" for each day also helped. Eeoyre knew what to expect and felt confident checking each item off the list. Plus the plan meant I had one less thing to think about.

This is why I do all I can beforehand. Having a rough idea of what to expect beforehand is key for Tigger too.

What a lovely story, thanks for sharing

Thanks for the ideas - I'll let you know how it works out!

Anyhow, I have faith in your creativity. I'm sure you can come up with something.

Your faith in my creative abilities is probably misplaced, but I'll give it my best shot! :rotfl2:

I was a little behind but am all caught up now:cool1:

In 2004, I surprised DD with a trip to WDW for her 12th birthday...it was so hard to keep the secret, but I somehow managed:thumbsup2

One of my very best friends helped me plan everything and she came along for the ride as her DH has no interest in going to the world...what is up with that:confused3

I took the day off before we left to pack, took DD to school and reminded her that we were meeting friends for dinner that evening and to look for us in her Auntie Brenda's truck after school. My friend Trish who was going with us and I sat in the back of the SUV so when DD got in she wouldn't see all the luggage:rotfl2:

Her Auntie Brenda said "I have to go to the airport to pick up a package for Uncle Eric before we go to dinner:laughing: We got there and she said can you guys come in with me I don't know where I'm going....I of course played along and said OMG, r u serious, just go to the Air Canada counter.....my darling DD said, don't be so grouchy mom, let's go and help:hug:

So out of the truck we all get, open the back, and pulled off the cover over to luggage and told DD WE'RE GOING TO WDW!!! She started to cry which started Brenda and Trish crying....saying awww she's so happy-----WRONG!! As her mommy I knew what was going thru her head....I have to get on a plane in 2 hours (she HATES flying). We got all checked in and went up to departure where friends and family were waiting to have a celebration before we left!!!

It was one of the best trips we ever had!!!!!

I asked DD what she preferred and she said the surprise one....just another opinion for you:rolleyes1

I pretty much agreed with KathyRN137. You picked some great places and got good times for them. Enjoy!

OK, we FINALLY have September hours (thanks to a couple of people who posted the hours from travel agents)! Here is my new itinerary, what do you all think?

Saturday, Sept. 12 - Arrival day :yay: (we arrive at MCO at about 9:30am)
Check-in to ASMu, hang out at the resort, maybe go to DTD

Perfect, Just enjoy learning about the resort and hitting DTD. Sounds great to me.

Sunday, Sept. 13
Animal Kingdom (hours 9am-5pm)
Breakfast ADR: Tusker House - 8:05am
Lunch or dinner: Flame Tree (we might take the food back to ASMu to eat)

I love having early morning ADR's before the park opens. Since AK is not open at night you can have another relaxing evening around the pool at the resort.

Monday, Sept. 14
Magic Kingdom (hours 9am-9pm)
Breakfast ADR: Crystal Palace - 8:05am
Lunch or dinner: Columbia Harbour House

Are you going back to see the Wishes or Spectro this evening? You've got and early morning at epcot booked. You'll need a nap/restful afternoon if you're doing the evening at MK tonight.

Ate at Columbia house for the first time on my last trip. It's where they take you for the Keys to the Kingdom tour. Thought it was good.

Tuesday, Sept. 15
Epcot (hours FW 8am(emh)-7pm, WS 11am-9pm)
Breakfast/lunch: Boulangerie Patisserie
Dinner ADR: Biergarten 6:00pm

I'm assuming that since tomorrow is an open/rest day that you'll be staying for illuminations tonight. Have you checked what time the shows are at Biergarten? Will you be there for one? I would only stay at Epcot until 1pm at the latest if I was there for rope drop and planning on coming back for the evening.

Wednesday, Sept. 16
OPEN day
Resort and/or DTD
Dinner ADR: Boma 6:00pm

Love the idea of an open day. It's so tempting to plan everything in advance so good for you. We stayed at AKL last trip. You could spend a fair bit of time roaming around the savannah viewing areas. It's great to see the animals at night too. They have storytelling around a firepit in the evening. I didn't do it but it didn't look too busy when I was there. You might want to see if it fits into your plans. I think it was like 7:30 or so.

Thursday, Sept. 17
Magic Kingdom (hours 8am(emh)-9pm)
Lunch or dinner: Cosmic Ray's (rib/chicken platter)

This will be the day you finish up all the must-do rides/attractions at MK right? Check out the main street bakery for their french toast thingie. It's good. It's not Tonga toast but it was good. Speaking of which breakfast is not as expensive as other meals have you thought of paying OOPs for Tonga toast at Kona and having an early morning ADR today? Or maybe a late breakfast and treating it like lunch? Mind you I LOOOVED Tonga toast so I would do anything to get there to have it so keep in mind I am biased.

I've done Cosmic Ray's before and it has such a big selection it's a hit for everyone.

Friday, Sept. 18
DHS (hours 9am-8pm)
Breakfast or lunch: ?
Dinner ADR: Sci Fi Dine-In 6:00pm

Got to do Rope Drop to get Toy Story Mania in today. You'll have a blast at the Sci-Fi!!

Saturday, Sept. 19
Epcot (hours FW 9am-7pm, WS 11am-9pm)
Breakfast or lunch: maybe fish & chips in England pavilion?
Dinner ADR: Chefs de France 6:00pm

Get ready for some lovely eye candy at Chefs. The waiters are very cute:love:

Sunday, Sept. 20 - Departure Day :sad1:
Check-out of ASMu
Breakfast ADR: Chef Mickey's 9:00am

Lovely to have a final meal to look forward to. Great idea to put it here. You might be a bit tight with checking out. What time does your flight leave?

I pretty much agreed with KathyRN137. You picked some great places and got good times for them. Enjoy!

Thank you! :flower3: Oh, I should point out that the ADRs I have planned have not yet been booked/confirmed - our awesome TA can't do that until June 13 (dumb 90 day thing!).

Saturday, Sept. 12 - Arrival day (we arrive at MCO at about 9:30am)
Check-in to ASMu, hang out at the resort, maybe go to DTD

Perfect, Just enjoy learning about the resort and hitting DTD. Sounds great to me.

Sooo looking forward to those pool games and movies! :woohoo:

Sunday, Sept. 13
Animal Kingdom (hours 9am-5pm)
Breakfast ADR: Tusker House - 8:05am
Lunch or dinner: Flame Tree (we might take the food back to ASMu to eat)

I love having early morning ADR's before the park opens. Since AK is not open at night you can have another relaxing evening around the pool at the resort.

Good point! :thumbsup2

No, probably not. Don't hate me, but we're not really fireworks lovers :ssst::duck: We don't really take breaks, but never say never because we went in October last time and not September! LOL We do a lot of walking on a daily basis here :thumbsup2

Now, this one we may do! Dh and I had a drink/eat around the world evening by ourselves last trip and saw a teensy bit of Illuminations. It looked very cool :3dglasses As for Biergarten, no I haven't, but I will see if I can figure it out because it sounds really fun!

Our plan is to hit rope drop, stay the day until dinner, enjoy our dinner then go back to the hotel for the evening - but plans can change lol

We had an open day last time and it was really good for just relaxing and recharging for the next few days kwim? AKL sounds fun - we just may do that, thanks for the suggestion :woohoo:

Yes, this is the day we'll finish whatever we didn't get done and ride those we really enjoyed again. I don't think the Main Street Bakery has the french toast anymore :sad2: I have budgeted for one or two OOP meals, but dh has asked that those not be preplanned, which is OK with me because he's happy for me to plan everything else

Friday, Sept. 18
DHS (hours 9am-8pm)
Breakfast or lunch: ?
Dinner ADR: Sci Fi Dine-In 6:00pm

Got to do Rope Drop to get Toy Story Mania in today. You'll have a blast at the Sci-Fi!!

Again, don't hate me, but we didn't think TSM was "all that" :confused3 We'll get a FP for it probably, but only ride once.

Maybe we're just too wacky to go to WDW?! :rotfl:

Saturday, Sept. 19
Epcot (hours FW 9am-7pm, WS 11am-9pm)
Breakfast or lunch: maybe fish & chips in England pavilion?
Dinner ADR: Chefs de France 6:00pm

Get ready for some lovely eye candy at Chefs. The waiters are very cute

Ooooh, thanks for the heads-up! So, we get great French food AND I get eye-candy?! Oh, it's all good! ::yes::

Sunday, Sept. 20 - Departure Day
Check-out of ASMu
Breakfast ADR: Chef Mickey's 9:00am

Lovely to have a final meal to look forward to. Great idea to put it here. You might be a bit tight with checking out. What time does your flight leave?

Our flight doesn't leave until 6:25pm. We may do a late check-out or, alternatively, check out before we go for breakfast - not sure yet.

Thank you so much for all your help and suggestions - much appreciated!:cheer2:

So....

OK, I had a long talk with my awesome TA yesterday and have decided to add Fantasmic back into the itinerary, which of course means I had to move our park days around.

So, with my abject apologies :flower3: (may a thousand camels spit in my eye for changing it again!), here is the final itinerary! I hope this one matches up better with everyone for a meet up or two or three!

Sat., Sept. 12 - ASMu/DTD, WCC dinner
Sun., Sept. 13 - DAK, TH breakfast
Mon., Sept. 14 - MK
Tues., Sept. 15 - Epcot, Biergarten
Wed., Sept. 16 - ASMu/DTD, Boma dinner
Thurs., Sept. 17 - MK, CP breakfast
Fri., Sept. 18 - DHS, Sci-Fi dinner
Sat., Sept. 19 - Epcot, Chefs de France dinner
Sun., Sept. 20 - Departure day, CM breakfast

So, unless our TA is unable to get the ADRs we would like, this is for sure our FINAL itinerary! I think this one works better than the other ones anyway - two morning EMHs and one pre-opening breakfast (TH) will work well for us, I think :goodvibes

I will change the mini-meet poll with this itinerary - fingers crossed for lots of park/restaurant overlap!!!! :cheer2: OK, whew! The parks/restaurants some of us had in common are still right - yay!

(2) It's only THREE days until Christine can call WDW for my ADRs - I hope we are able to get the ADRs we've requested :scared:

(3) If we are able to get Tusker House for 8:05am, how can we get to DAK for it? DAK opens at 9:00am that day, so will buses be running early enough to get us to the park on time or should we use a taxi? :confused3

There should be a bus running that early. We got to AK at around 8 am and buses were already running at that time for a 9am opening in May.

jordanyosh
06-11-2009, 04:30 PM
Do a search for exact running times for busses, but I believe they start running an hour or hour and 1/2(might even be 2 hrs) before official opening for the very reason that there are those Character Breakfasts. There is usually a CM at the front gate that will direct you....

Good luck with the ADRs AND Tigger's games.

There are always lurkers...........:) they usually join the fun sooner or later. It took me a few years before I started posting.....

I hope you get all the ADR's your little heart desires. There are always buses running early we did the same thing back when they had Restorauntosarous (Sp?) and it was no problem.

Cant wait to hear an update once the baseball games are done.

If you are lurking on this thread please come out so we can include you in the fun.

There should be a bus running that early. We got to AK at around 8 am and buses were already running at that time for a 9am opening in May.

I hope we can just take a bus, but I'm leery of the bus getting to DAK in time for us to run through the park to Tusker House for an 8:05am ADR (assuming we get that time) kwim?

Do a search for exact running times for busses, but I believe they start running an hour or hour and 1/2(might even be 2 hrs) before official opening for the very reason that there are those Character Breakfasts. There is usually a CM at the front gate that will direct you....

Thanks, Jordan, that's what I'm hoping!

Good luck with the ADRs AND Tigger's games.

Thank you

There are always lurkers...........:) they usually join the fun sooner or later. It took me a few years before I started posting.....

Really?!

Hi Lisa! I didn't realize you had this going until I glanced down at your sig while responding to you on my TR.

Your plans look awesome, here's hoping that you get all the ADR's that you want. I got all my May ADR's no problem and was even able to switch things around and get the times I wanted 2 days before the trip!

I love surprise trips, can't wait to hear about how the boys react!

Yes, we live just south of Vancouver, BC, about 5 minutes from the Washington State border. It takes us about 2 hours to drive from our house to SeaTac Airport, so not a bad drive to save well over half the airfare cost compared to flying out of Vancouver Int'l Airport! :thumbsup2

Yes, it is a small world  Hey, could you ask your sister why on earth the Starbuck's stores in Seattle close so darned early? All the Starbuck's here (and there are a kazillion lol) close way later :confused3 Yes, the things I ponder are random and sometimes odd lmao

So, I got an email this morning from our wickedly awesome travel agent, Christine. It's her day off today, so I was thinking she'd call Disney Dining tomorrow, right? Well, wrong! She made the call on her day off for us! Andddddd.... she got us everything we asked for!! :yay:

Final ADRs are:

Sat., Sept. 12 - ASMu/DTD, WCC dinner (5:00pm)
Sun., Sept. 13 - DAK, TH breakfast (8:00am)
Mon., Sept. 14 - MK
Tues., Sept. 15 - Epcot, Biergarten (5:00pm)
Wed., Sept. 16 - ASMu/DTD, Boma dinner (5:00pm)
Thurs., Sept. 17 - MK, CP breakfast (9:30am)
Fri., Sept. 18 - DHS, Sci-Fi dinner (5:05pm)
Sat., Sept. 19 - Epcot, Chefs de France dinner (5:00pm)
Sun., Sept. 20 - Departure day, CM breakfast (9:30am)

The only difference between what I requested and the final ADRs is a FIVE MINUTE change on the Sci-Fi dinner :lmao:

Seriously, waking up to an email with all the work already done is a very very good thing! Thank you Christine!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

BTW, I cannot believe I was stressed out over getting restaurant reservations that aren't even really reservations! :rotfl2:

One semi-final game was last night, the second is tonight. Unfortunately, they lost last night, so they'll be playing for third place tonight. Happily, Tigger had a huge hit last night, so he's happy with his performance, which is making the loss of the game much easier for him to deal with :goodvibes

I've never been in last night's situation before - one of my babies in a high-stress sports event, playing against a team with less-than-aboveboard coaching staff and open license to trash-talk (which our team was NOT doing and has never done). Sadly, it seems I turn into my dad (while he's watching a hockey game on TV) :sad2: I think I have to step back and watch tonight's game from a safe distance :guilty:

A life update:

Mickey's Birthday

:bday:

Today is Mickey's 7th birthday - I cannot believe he is 7 years old ALREADY?!?! Of course, I can't believe Tigger is 10 years old either?!! :lmao: He woke up to lots of cards and presents - he's a very happy dude! pirate:

Turns out that telling him that the faster he went to sleep the quicker his birthday would come works really well - he was out nearly instantly, by sheer force of his will :lmao:

We'll be off to Montana's for dinner tonight (his choice), then to Walmart for a new cool bike! We're having a BBQ tomorrow as well for those who are unable to come to dinner tonight. Birthday party weekend! :yay:

Baseball Updates

Tigger's baseball season is done for this year. They won bronze in the playoffs and are very pleased! Tigger improved so much this season - by the end of the playoffs, his teammates were calling him "big hitter" :cheer2: It was a wonderful season and we're all looking forward to another insanely busy season next year! He's very proud of himself (rightfully so!) and we're all very proud of him too

Mickey's baseball season isn't quite over yet. He has one more game on Sunday, then he's done. He doesn't want to be done yet, so this makes him sad :sad1: The boy truly loves the game! :thumbsup2 His wrap-up team party was on Wednesday - lots of fun had by all! :cool1:

Trip planning

I'm still organizing and adding to my "it's not a Disney binder, honey" binder. It's getting kind of full :rotfl2:

Isn't it strange how much a relief it is to have all the ADRs booked? I think I've put the confirmation numbers in four different places in the binder

I've begun receiving some free samples of stuff I happened to come across (shampoo/conditioner, liquid laundry detergent, etc.) and it's so much fun to slip those things into my sneaky box (there's a bunch of non-Disney stuff on top of the box, so the boys never go near it LOL).

I'm still tweaking my Garden Grocer order - I keep changing my mind about what I should order :rolleyes1 Hmmm... maybe I'll post my current list and see what you all think about it

Play-N-Dine...breakfast and lunch at DHS, Hollywood-n-Vine restaurant. But since they're character meals I think they play with the name. OK, here is the latest version of my much-changed Garden Grocer order.

My plan is to eat some breakfast-type stuff in the room for most of our mornings and I wanted to make sure we have a few snacks for in the evenings. We won't have a fridge (hence the cooler - I MUST have my coffee creamer for my morning coffee! LOL), so I have tried to really limit the stuff that has to be refrigerated. I should also mention that the boys and I are really not huge breakfast eaters; Grumpy likes a bit of breakfast early, but he's the only one lol The breakfast I have booked early at TH will be OK though, because we'll all have been awake for an hour, have showered, etc. and will be ready for a good meal by that point.

Also, I need to avoid anything with artificial colour because Tigger is allergic to all of them except for caramel colour (by allergic, I mean he turns into a maniac if he ingests anything with artificial colour - so it's better for everyone if he doesn't have any lol)

Any opinions, additions/deletions, comments are welcome!

1 x Pepperidge Farm Mini Bagels Brown Sugar Cinnamon 12CT 17oz. PKG
2 x Bananas Green (Turning) 1EA
2 x Bananas Yellow 1EA
2 x Apples Fuji 1EA
1 x International Delight Creamer French Vanilla Fat Free 32oz. BTL

Any opinions, additions/deletions, comments are welcome!

:scared1::scared1:I forgot to add creamer to mine. I have to have either Sugar free French Vanilla or Hazlenut creamer every morning or I become the Wicked Queen. I do like a little coffee with my creamer.

Your list looks great. The only thing I can think that you may want to add is if you plan on doing any laundry you could get some detergent. Probably cheaper than buying it at the resort and easier than bringing it from home.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICKEY!!!!!!!!! :bday:party:

Nice list you have going! We were going to do delivery last year and I forgot to order so we stopped at WalMart when we got in. Ugh, that is NOT my favorite store! I can't wait to hear how the delivery goes. I've always wondered about it.

We will have to select a time and place to meet. By the way, I will be the one waving like a fool at Chef's!:laughing:

Thanks for the bday wishes for Mickey

We used Garden Grocer last time - it was so easy and convenient! We checked in really early on arrival day, the room wasn't ready, so we put our luggage in hotel storage and went to DTD. When we returned in the afternoon to get into our room, the GG order was already in the room. Totally painless delivery - didn't even have to be there LOL I highly recommend using them :thumbsup2

Yes, we have to figure it out! I know I posted somewhere about meeting up at Epcot (but I can't remember which PTR/TR I posted it on LOL) - there was one day when you, Jenn and I were all in Epcot on the same day :thumbsup2

:woohoo::banana:happy birthday mickey!!:banana::woohoo:

You and me both, Minnie - I must have the Int'l Delight Creamer in my coffee or someone's gonna get hurt :rotfl:

I have been keeping an eye out for travel size laundry detergent, but so far I haven't been able to find any. I'll keep looking though :goodvibes I'm only planning on doing two loads of laundry (which is what I did last trip, which was almost 2 days longer than this trip), so I'm bringing Bounce sheets and hopefully the laundry soap in our checked luggage. Last time, it cost me a good chunk of change just to do two loads of laundry at the hotel (I think it was a total of about US$14.00!).

Thanks all, keep those comments coming - your input is much appreciated! :cheer2:

Your list looks good. We ate in the room most mornings as well, but I just packed everything in an extra suitcase and brought it along. Maybe I'll consider Garden Grocer for next time. (especially if Southwest starts charging for that second checked bag!)

We're trying Garden Grocer this year for the first time and really trying hard not to over order. We're switching resorts too so have to move the food too.

Congrats on the birthday and bronze.

I tried to find my old GG lists but I guess I tossed them.:confused3

I ordered breakfast stuff, snack stuff, drinks and alcohol. My kids really like the flavoured water and since I didn't want to argue with them about drinking I ordered some, plus some yogurt smoothie drinks since it is one of the only things my DD will eat (okay drink) in the morning. I ordered three or four big bags of chips/corn chips/pretzels to eat around the pool. I found since we came home every afternoon the kids were wanting snacks around 3. I had wanted to order more fruit but found that the kids get grapes or an assorted fruit snack with each meal they had and we had lots of extra packages left over.

I brought some granola bars with me as around 9:30 each morning when we were in prime riding the attraction times the kids were get hungry. I threw the granola bars at them and told them they'd get something more exciting later. It worked. I bought my own laundry soap since my kids are sensitive to fragrances. I bought the store brand type of ivory snow powder and made four or five baggies for individual washes. When Dh saw them he thought the authorities might have some questions about my white powder baggies so we put them in our check-in luggage for sure.

Tigger's teeth extraction

So, Tigger has an appointment at the dentist tomorrow morning to get two teeth extracted (two extra baby teeth are impeding the eruption and placement of two adult teeth). He has never had dental freezing before :scared: This is freaking me out on his behalf, which I'm not showing because I don't want him to freak out :thumbsup2 Luckily, our dentist is fantastic and both boys love him (they've been going to the dentist with us since they were born, so they're both very comfortable there). Needless to say, Grumpy will be taking him tomorrow (I just can't deal with my boys being in pain kwim?) :sad2:

Poley's dematting saga

Our 18yo cat, Poley, has evidently decided that keeping his fur clean and tangle-free is no longer a priority and has increased his aversion to letting me comb him. Bad combination :sad2: We took him last Saturday to our local pet groomer, who took a comb to him for half an hour but still needs to do another combing session (Poley started to really freak out at about the half-hour mark, so the groomer and I decided that coming back another day to finish would be the smart thing to do). We don't want to stress him out too much, due to his age.

The problem is that Grumpy will be taking Tigger to the dentist tomorrow morning and will have our vehicle. He will drop me and Mickey off at the groomer's on his way to the dentist (I'll have Poley in a backpack turned around so that I can keep Poley safe kwim?). Mickey and I will walk back home from the groomer's (easy walk, takes about 20 minutes), but I'm trying to plan how to have one hand free to keep Mickey safe crossing streets while keeping Poley safely in the backpack. :scared:

Any thoughts? We don't have a cat carrier because Poley hates those with an absolute passion and, at his age, I'm not taking the chance...

Aw, poor Tigger. I don't blame you for your anxiety over it. My sister swears the dentist is Satan, himself. :rotfl: I'm sure Tigger will do just fine tomorrow. I'm sending over some extra pixie dust for both of you! pixiedust:

My mom had a Persian that got so matted they had to take and give him a lion's cut. I think the cat was miffed, but he did look incredibly cute and it was far easier to take care of him! Any hoo... I think your plan of turning the backpack around so you can put one hand on the cat and use the other to hold on to Mickey should be fine. I might suggest putting a leash/harness on Poley, just in case he slips out of the bag.

Another idea -- DH and I were out walking and we saw these people carrying their cat in a backpack type carrier. It had a mesh see-through liner so the cat could look out. Not sure if it's worth investing in for you, but just a thought.

Good luck tomorrow! :goodvibes:goodvibes

The groomer had to do that with the bottom half of Poley's tail - he couldn't comb the matted fur out, so he had to shave the bottom half. We've been calling him "Poley the lion" since :thumbsup2

I did just get back from the dentist's office, though so I totally feel your pain! I have to go back again on Tuesday....UGH! What a way to start the summer.
I'm sure Tigger will do fine...you are probably WAY more nervous about it than he is so having Grumpy go is a great idea! :thumbsup2

pixiedust: for Tigger at the dentist and some more pixiedust: for you and Mickey with the kitty. Sorry I don't have any suggestions for another way to carry him, seems like you have a good plan though ;)

Thanks for the good wishes for Tigger and I'm sorry you're having to go to the dentist too (twice, even!) :sad2:

Update on Tigger and our Poleycat

Thanks for the good wishes everyone - they worked! Tigger was absolutely fine at his dentist appointment :goodvibes Truly, our dentist is just amazingly gentle - we  him! All Tigger felt was a "small pinch, Mom" when the first freezing needle was put in (he needed THREE needles!). The hardest part of the day was keeping him from running around/riding his bike/etc. (because of where the extracted teeth were, the dentist wanted to make sure his gums had a full day to heal before his normal activity jarred his mouth kwim?). He really had no pain after the freezing wore off, either. Whew! :woohoo:

Carrying Poley in a backpack turned around worked really well, thankfully! He was totally comfy and hardly complained at all! :yay:

EXTRA UPDATE - Mickey's New Milestone!

I am very proud to say that Mickey is now a proficient two-wheel bike rider! He resisted our every comment about riding a bike without training wheels until he chose his new bike at the store for his 7th birthday (his gift from my mom and stepdad). He went from being unable to ride a two-wheeler unless Grumpy or I had a hand on the seat to being able to ride his new bike like a pro! He basically learnt in one evening at an empty parking lot near our home - lots of empty space, no fear of moving vehicles LOL The next day, he was trying hard to beat Tigger in a bike race :rotfl: He's very proud of himself and we are proud of him too - way to go, sweet Mickey! :cheer2:

Interestingly, 7yo is around the same age as Tigger was when he learnt how to ride a two-wheeler - go figure LOL We usually go with child-led when it comes to major milestones (potty-training, weaning, etc.), and I just think it's funny that they both self-chose about 7yo to do this :lmao:

I'm glad everything went well with the dentist and the groomers.

Yay for Mickey riding a two wheeler.

My kids were around 7 when they decided to do it too. I knew they could do it but it took them a while to realize it for instance my Jedi (DS6 turning 7 in august) is riding around with trainning wheels that rarely touch the ground. Dh keeps lifting them up higher and higher but just by little bits at a time. However Jedi (DS6) will not believe that he could ride his bike without them.:confused3

I'm glad all turned out well for both Tigger and Poley. It's nice when things work out that way!

Way to go Mickey!

Congrats for Mickey! dd9 was 8 when she decided finally to try no extra wheels and did it all by herself, while I was busy talking to the neighbors. I guess she felt safe knowing we were there but doesn't like to be watched so we were distracted enough!

So glad to hear Tigger is doing well.:)

Thanks  LOL at your dh - smart move! Maybe turning 7yo is somehow linked to bike confidence? I dunno, but I'm glad the training wheel bikes are gone :woohoo:

Isnt it amazing how a new bike can make magic like that? Way to go Mickey!!!

Glad to hear Tigger and Poley has an easy time of their appointments. :thumbsup2

Thanks, Minnie  I'm not sure, but however many days it is, it's TOO MANY!

Edited to add:
Ooooh, I found an online day-to-day calculator for my lazy self LOL It is 74 days until the day we get on the plane in Seattle!

I'm glad everything was Ok with the Dentist appt. I dread them too!!!! And Yahoo for no training wheels, we're working on that here too.:headache:

Thanks  I have come to the conclusion that children reach milestones on only their schedules and nobody else's, as I'm positive you know lol. When they're ready, they learn very quickly! Honestly, he learnt how to ride it competently within a span of 1/2 hour when he decided to do it!

Time for an on-topic post, methinks :lmao:

So, now that we're at 74 days to go (thank you, lazy person's day calculator that I found online to figure that out for me lol), I keep thinking there's more stuff I should be doing :scared:

My "it's not a Disney binder, honey" binder is now chock-full of paper. I have a "to buy" list, a carryon luggage packing list, a checked luggage list, copies of our flight e-tickets, directions to MasterPark, printout of MasterPark reservation, printout of MasterPark online discount coupons, printout of ATL airport's many concourses, copy of our WDW hotel/pass/FD reservation, printout of ASMu map with my requested room block highlighted, printout of Garden Grocer order (that is STILL not finalized ), printout of trip budget, park plan with dining ADR information, restaurant menus and directions to get home from MasterPark. Yep, it's full :rotfl:

The park days are planned, the ADRs are made (thank you, Christine!) - what else am I supposed to be doing?

Oh, I have far too many Mickey heads from our last trip that I will be getting laminated - finally! LOL

I haven't figured out what designs to choose for our two sets of t-shirts yet either.

Any thoughts on t-shirt designs? I'm doing two sets of shirts (theoretically lol) and I need the design to be in grayscale because buying a $200 colour cartridge for my printer is not in the WDW budget :lmao: My plan is to get one set of medium blue shirts (Tigger's fave colour) and one set of bright or dark yellow shirts (Mickey's fave colour). All help is appreciated!

I can't make a countdown yet for the boys until we tell them lol

What to do, what to do? :confused3
