It's true..... If you've read my previous reports you know that I have a lucky streak, and it's happened again!
Just got back from another weekend in the World! We live in Jacksonville, just 2 1/2 hrs from WDW and we make the most of it.
This time, I didn't even need to drag my DH kicking and screaming. In fact, HE wanted to leave earlier than we actually did! Someone fess up - who's pumping the pixie dust into his office???
He was excited to check out our latest resort - Animal Kingdom Lodge. We try to stay at a different resort each trip, and this one was a bit intriguing for us. And because of that, this trip was done totally different than others.
Here we are.
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5030064.jpg
Me. Kara. 42. Being advised to enroll in a Disney 12-step program.
DH. Jeff. 39. Never lets me forget he's younger. Loves Disney when we're there, but outta sight, outta mind. So I make it a point to get him there for a weekend about every other month.
DD. Ally. 8. Going on 18. Loves Disney like her mama. Also knows she is spoiled rotten at WDW so she never turns down a trip.
Jeff fears that we will get "bored" if we go to WDW too often. Well, he also FEARS Dinosaur, but that's in my LAST Trip Report. Anywho....
Somehow, each time we "do" Disney, we do it right. And we don't overdo it or redo it. It's always different. Somehow, the magic remains trip after trip. And this trip we were lucky enough to experience a new resort, and new experiences on old attractions. Stick with me and I'll do my best to take you on a humorous trip with my family. Our trips are anything but dull...... especially when you're with "that guy" from Monsters Inc. :rolleyes1 Oh, did I give away too much? ;)
Up next, the incredible AKL and the first major upgrade!

Yes, I'm a very nice person.... ;) Every time I see your name I think of that old Chrysler commercial with Ricardo Montalban. Volare. And I sing the song but change it to Oh Mari. :rotfl2:

I just wish there were an easier way to get to I-95. I think there is a road to be built from over hear in Clay County, that go from I-10 to I-95 somewhere down by St A, but I'm sure it will be years!!!!
Ooooooo UPGRADES! Are they magical?!

Hi there! :hippie: Just found your report and it sounds like a great one! We have a few things in common. We live 2 1/2 hours south of WDW and are there often for weekends also we like to try a different resort as often as possible and our goal is to try each one at least once. My husband is not much of a Disney fan so it is often just my daughter (turning nine this month) and I which is always alot of fun! Anyway, looking forward to your report!

Nicole this is for you!!!!
So as I've said before, and I might be bragging, but if it's true, it's not really bragging, right? But I tend to be mighty lucky in the upgrade department. I like to think it's my charming personality and winning smile, but Jeff is convinced that it's because we only stay 2 or 3 nights most times, and they'd rather upgrade my cheap butt for a short time, and save the upgrade rooms for someone who actually wants to pay for them!
Apparently he's not impressed by my charming personality and winning smile.
I always, read ALWAYS, book standard view at any resort. We are usually just not in our room enough to pay for a view that we might enjoy for 10 minutes out of our entire stay.
So as we began our trip to Disney, we were joking about what kind of upgrade we might get this trip.
We dropped Bucky off at the kennel on our way out of town - otherwise we would have driven down Thursday night and used Jeff's Hilton points to stay the night before our trip began. Darn dog. I swear, his kennel visits are getting more and more expensive too! And I only request standard view for him too!
But I heard he got upgraded to poodle view this trip, so apparently he inherited my upgrade gene. But he gets his nose from Jeff's side..... :rolleyes1
Anywho..... Jeff jokes that my car only knows how to exit I-95 at I-4 West. He might be right. I've never traveled I-95 south of I-4. Even my car knows what's what.
And this trip is 2 1/2 hrs anyway you slice it. With traffic, without traffic - 2 1/2 hrs door to door.
At about the 2 hr 15 minute mark, we saw it....
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/1.jpg
And the obligatory pic - I was actually snapping this left handed with my camera, and right handed with my cell phone to send to all my friends up north..... Meanwhile, Jeff was taking a picture of ME, and laughing at my double pic snapping...
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/2.jpg
A couple more minutes pass....
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/3.jpg
We're here!!!
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/4.jpg
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/5.jpg
As we pulled up to the door, I hopped out to run in and check in, while Ally and Jeff parked the car. I always check in alone. Jeff doesn't like to see the room charge, and I don't like to be hindered in my eyelash batting, cheesy small talk making with the CM that checks me in.
Besides, who would take the initial impression shots if we both checked in?
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/AKL-lodgedaytime1.jpg
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/AKL-lodgedaytime8.jpg
This resort is beautiful, inside and out. I don't consider it quite as impressive upon entry as Wilderness Lodge, but it is quite awesome!
Apparently there is a mold problem, as shown by this giant mushroom!
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/AKL-lodgedaytime7.jpg
Some nifty African art around the lobby.

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/AKL-lodge92.jpg
These quilts behind the lovely CM who checked me in....
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/AKL-lodgeart2.jpg
Why was the CM so lovely, you ask? Well, since you asked....
It was 10:45am, and she said, "our check in time is 3:00 but I have good news for you. Your room is ready now."
Kara: Great!
CM : And I have more good news for you.
Kara: I love good news, what is it?
CM: We have given you one of our best rooms.
Kara: Ah, that IS good news!
Thinking, silly CM, I knew you couldn't resist my charming personality and winning smile!
Now, I don't know about "best" room, but it was definitely a savannah view room, on the main level (sweet! no elevators!).
So off we went to grab out luggage from the car and check out our new digs.
We were down the Kudu Trail room 3251, also part of the sunset savannah. Which means the sun sets here. Duh!
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/AKL-lodgesign.jpg
We were not overlooking the huge savannah at the back of the lodge, but every morning we saw the coolest two legged creatures out first thing on poop patrol! Leave it to Disney to take the best of the African landscape and literally leave out the crappy parts!
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/AKL-room1.jpg
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/AKL-room3.jpg
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/AKL-room2.jpg
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/AKL-room4.jpg
My only complaint is that these rooms are really SMALL!!! I don't know the actual square footage, but it was very cramped. If I had been here for a longer stay, and had a small child or pack n play in the room, I don't think I would have been as enthralled. But it worked out fine for us.
Our view. No zoom.
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/AKL-roomview1.jpg
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/AKL-roomview2.jpg
Zoomed in on the welcome wagon. No seriously, don't get up. We'll be fine.
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/AKL-roomview4.jpg
We saw a lot more animals, some were actually MOVING! I'll post more pics of the animals, and more of the resort later.
Next up.... 20th Anniversary of Hollywood Studios!

Yay thanks for posting!! We're leaving in a bit and I have my attitude and small talk down pat!! I've only stayed a standard room once before at AKL and was upgraded! We had a premiere room too! We were ground level, the first room off the lobby next to the public overlook! The AKV construction was going on so that could be it, but Im hoping for something good at WL and AKL this trip!! I just want to act really excited and if i get an upgrade great if not, who cares? You're right, we never pay for a view because we don't use it (although the animals was really really cool)

Glad to have found your TR. I have been lucky too. My first trip I got upgraded to a water view corner unit. The second trip was a land and sea one. Well just days before the cruise I got a call if I was ok being upgraded to a suit, um let me think HECK YA! So we had this great suit and concierge service. When we arrived at POR we didn't get a special upgrade at first. We actually had one of the farthest rooms but I had some real trouble with swelling this trip, thank goodness for flip flops. When we finally made it down to our room I called to see if by chance they had a closer room due to my swelling. They said yes we do it's in the Mansions if that is ok? Sure not a problem with me. We got bumped to a beautiful room with a water view again. Oh and we had gotten the dinning plan with circ tickets, but we really didn't care to see it as we have several here in Vegas. So we got lucky with Disney Credit for the tickets as they were on a break. Score extra spending money!!

Maybe we should pool our mojo, we might be in a deluxe suite at the GF before too long!!!!
When we upgraded our 7 day PHs into season passes last year, not only did we get the passes, but I think the CM misfigured something because we also got a $250 gift card for the "difference"! The funny part is that my inlaws had paid for the entire week long trip, so to upgrade the tix, AND get the gift card, it was like, "thank you inlaws!" Our first year's passes cost us NOTHING! Now the renewal on the other hand......

So glad your dog got the "poodle view" I'm sure he was appreciative.
Can't wait to join in for the hijinx on TR
Cleavage? You haven't checked out my photos, huh? Not that I want you really checking me out..... But if it were about cleavage, I'd be sleeping in the parking lot, not just viewing it.
Loved your pictures and reading about the upgrade! Good going!
Thanx! I'm good like that....
popcorn:: great report so far!
Thank you! Now trying to get ready for this upcoming weekend - I'm one of the Moms in the DISmoms gone Wild PTR out there!!!! Should be fun!

And the obligatory pic - I was actually snapping this left handed with my camera, and right handed with my cell phone to send to all my friends up north..... Meanwhile, Jeff was taking a picture of ME, and laughing at my double pic snapping...
KJ...If you were snapping pictures with your left hand while taking cell phone pics with your right, and Jeff was taking pictures of you...who was driving the car that my beloved niece was in?!? :sad2:
Enjoying the TR. Although you do a very good job texting me while you are in the parks. I have to live through you!!

I'm 2.5 hours away from WDW too but in the opposite direction. ;)
You're room at AKL is so bright and pretty. DH and I stayed at AKL when it first opened and our room was so dark. Have they updated the rooms?
I can't wait to read more. :goodvibes

As often as we make the trip these days, we don't need to drive. I just tell my girl "to Disney" and she takes me right down I-95 to I-4 and gets off at the Disney gates. From there we have to help her to the right resort, but otherwise, we could nap on the way......

So we oohed and aahed a few more times at the animals off the balcony, and at our good fortune (well, actually Jeff and Ally had to scrub their knees from all the bowing and hailing the Upgrade Queen), then slowly meandered down to catch a bus to Studios.
The only reason we were off to HS this trip is because it was the 20th Anniversary of MGM/Hollywood Studios. Call it what you will. And as the nerdy pin collectors we are (yeah, we have over Disney pins now……), we wanted to grab an exclusive pin sold ONLY on this day.
Walked into HS about noonish, and were pleasantly surprised by the low crowd level.

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/HS-hat.jpg
We made our way to the pin shop under the hat, grabbed our Limited Edition of only 1000 Anniversary pin, and struck out for RnR and ToT.
Ally cannot come into this park without hitting these two attractions. And I’m kinda glad, cause I like ‘em too.
Jeff raced over to RnR to grab FPs for later, and Ally and I waited for him in front of ToT, which was showing a 30 minute wait. But, c’mon….. when you’re with the Upgrade Queen a 30 minute wait is really a walk on!!!! Yup, you know it!
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/DHS-misc1.jpg

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/DHS-TOT3.jpg
Guess what I did? I took photos from the TOP of ToT just as the doors opened!!!!!! And I did NOT drop the camera!!!!
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/DHS-TOT4.jpg
I was laughing so hard at this point, people must have thought I’d seriously lost my mind! Oh, and our photo? Pretty funny to see someone holding out a camera while others were screaming and flailing all over the place!
As soon as we got off ToT, we walked over to RnR and while not a walk-on, it was exactly 15 minutes, despite the sign showing a 40 minute wait. So we gave up our FPs on our way out of the park.

Yes, that’s all we did at HS this day! We really wanted to get over to MK, as we didn’t set foot in that park at all in March.
A few fun photos on our way out of the park.... including my little pin trading queen! This kid can spot a pin a mile away - we try to collect the CM series pins. It's fun for all of us to do it together. But Ally is the queen. Or princess. Whatever.

AND…..
My SIL and her family were meeting us at a park on Sunday (they would just be beginning their vacation) and in case we ended up in HS, Jeff did not want to spend the day there on Friday AND on Sunday yet if we never got back to HS, it would be okay as we spent a lot of time there in March.
OK. Just realized we have not had lunch and it’s pushing 2pm by now. We had a big nasty BK breakfast on the way into town….. so we’re thinking big snack and we’ll grab something back at the resort later.
Hmm…. What kind of snack could we get at MK? Hmmmm…… I’ve got it!!!
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/MK-AlohaIsle-dolewhips.jpg
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/MK-AlohaIsle-rootbeerfloat.jpg
So as Jeff ran to get SM FPs, Ally and I stood in line at Aloha Isle to get Dole Whips for Jeff and I, and a root beer float for Ally (good call, Cammie!). We sucked those down and decided it was time to see the fairies.
We had a great experience meeting the fairies back in November. We met Tink, who is out all day long, along with Rosetta and Iridessa, who are out until 3pm, or so we were told. Yeah, you know where this is going, right?
Ally REALLY wanted to meet Silvermist, one of the fairies that SUPPOSEDLY comes out at 3pm.
We got in line right at 3pm, and the line showed one hour. I knew from experience it would be every bit of an hour…… so while Jeff held the line, Ally and I skipped over and met the princesses.
The photopass photographers were not there the last time we met the princesses here, 3 years ago. They were in a big photog meeting. Discussing various ways of cutting off heads, catching mouths open, or getting just the right shot of the woman behind you scratching her, well, you know!
So we just didn’t have great pics of Ally with the princesses. So I was excited this time. Until I saw them!!!!
OK, I’m so not trying to be mean. And I know there is absolutely no way to get this across without sounding like, well, my SIL….. but, um, does anything look a bit, uh, er, “off” about one or more of these “princesses?” I’ll let y’all figure it out.
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/MK-PrincessAurora2.jpg
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/MK-PrincessBelle2.jpg
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/MK-PrincessCinderella1.jpg
OK, FINE! They were homely!!! OK, OK, I SAID IT!!!! Disney is experiencing economic pains too and they have gone to their second (or third) team princesses!!!
It was so bad that Ally asked me why Sleeping Beauty looked “different.” I had to explain to her that maybe she was out late last night and didn’t get a good night’s sleep (like EVER!). We told Ally that SB was probably at a party (and drank too much, woke up with her head over the toilet, and had to get ready in a hurry……).
Now I’m no princess, but THIS is what I expect in a princess…..
Princess…..
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/DisneyPhotoImage16.jpg
Not a princess…..
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/MK-PrincessAurora2.jpg
OK, now that y’all think I’m a judgmental, evil taker of all things upgradeable, yeah, I am. Let’s move on…..
We hopped back in line for the fairies. It’s amazing what you can learn about the people in line behind you when you’re stuck listening to their conversations for, oh, say, AN HOUR! But I digress……
It was finally our turn, and the folks behind us were being cut off, and we had overheard them talking about a surprise dinner for their DD at Cindy’s castle, so we let them go in front of us so they could make their ADR about 10 minutes from then.
See? I’m not so bad! I gave up my spot so they could make their ADR. I’m really a nice person! I just like pretty princesses!!!!!
Our turn, our turn!!! We shrunk. Ally detailed it all for Jeff. I caught him several times looking down, checking out his….. package. Making sure it wasn’t shrinking, too.
We walked through the door to meet Silvermist and……
No Silvermist. It was the “morning” fairies that we met back in November!!! I was devastated for Ally. She was okay, I guess. She’s 8 – she takes it in stride. Even though the CM came up to me and said, “What’s wrong?” I guess my face showed my disappointment.
The good thing was that it was the “same” Tinkerbell. No questions from inquiring 8 year old minds…..
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/MK-Fairies-Tink3.jpg
No, I'm not pregnant in that pic!!!! I already told you I'm not a princess!!!! But I love me some Tinkerbell. She's adorable!
We said goodbye to Tink and friends and as we were walking out, down the hall, a CM asked us to wait while a big black curtain came up in front of us. There was some rustling behind it, and I just KNOW that it was the changing of the fairies. I just KNOW that if I would have walked back about 15 steps I would have seen Silvermist and Fawn with Tink. I was sooooo close to begging a CM to let us go back. But I was afraid that it would be a new Tink, and we've already had questions today.......
And Ally still believed we shrunk. Or shrank. Either way, Ally believed that we did get smaller. I love it!!!!
She now believes that Mickey, et al, or as we call them, “the big head” characters, are all people in costume. But the princesses, fairies, and any “face” characters, are all still real. Or at least we hope so.

Oh trust me, it was waaaaay more than coloring!!! She just didn't have the personality, either. Actually, though, with her dimples, I could see her as SW. So far, of all the princesses we have met, and a daughter as an only child, we've seen a LOT of princesses!!!! But SW is always right on the mark. Very Betty Boopish.

Actually, Ally's eyes are a greyish blue. Mine started out blue, turned grey, and I think hers are heading the same way..... It really depends on what she wears. Coffee..... spike the coffee..... but don't worry, once you get to Disney, the pixie dust does the trick. Jeff is so frugal, but in Disney HE is the one splurging. We always say we're gonna try to just eat CS for a weekend and save money on meals. Then he marches to guest services checking on ADRs and different TS places. It's the pixie dust. :wizard:

So cool you were there on the 20 year anniversary of MGM! Pods & I were there that day, 20 years ago. It was very cool. There were celebrities everywhere, we met quite a few- I think we spent a while talking to some hottie from Knots Landing no one else wanted to bother with! :lmao: There were a ton of radio stations broadcasting their morning shows from there set up at tables all around the circle- all of them were interviewing celebrities. Michael Eisner spoke to the crowd and so did Bob Hope, I think. I really should dig up my pictures and post them- but I don't have a scanner so I'll have to bother my neighbor to help me out.... the thing i remember MOST about that day was that Pods was b&%#@)&! and moaning about carrying around the video camera because it weighed a ton (it WAS the 80's!!!) and I kept on switching cameras and video camera all day- it was making him NUTS!!! :rotfl2: We ate at Prime Time Cafe- and you know, I STILL haven't returned!! :confused3 Not that we didn't like it, we thought it was really cool!- Just that I keep thinking we've done that- I'll have to put it on our schedule for November with the kids.

Just back from our DISMoms gone wild weekend! We had a great time, even participated in a fun DIS meet in Epcot while we were there - met some awesome DISers and shared a couple pints o ale with them in R&C in Epcot. To check out our PTR, follow this link... http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2163372
And once Ellen (podsnel) gets back sometime tomorrow I'm sure she, Cammie (Camster0307) and I will get started on a fun TR to relive our weekend!

Once we escaped the clutches of the drag queens, er, Princesses….. we made our way back through Fantasyland and stopped to ride the ever popular Haunted Mansion.
Now I did NOT use my flash, being the good, law abiding Disney citizen that I am. But some of the pics are still fun.

I love this attraction. Especially on a hot Florida day, which it was turning into. My only complaint is the stupid pop-up ghouls in the graveyard scene. I just hate them! They remind me of a cheesy haunted house when I was a kid.
But enough about my mother in law’s place….
We left HM and were ready to use our FPs at Splash. So we took the shortcut along the water and grabbed some pics along the way....

As a new FL resident, I love these birds. I see them all over our neighborhood, too, but I think they are so elegant.
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/MK-LibertySquarebird2.jpg
Apparently that little girl shares my fascination with the birds....
So, on to Splash Mountain!
I don’t think I’ll ever tire of this ride! Love the drop at the end, and love singing along with everyone in the briar patch! Yes, I really DO sing. Loudly. Much to the chagrin of my prim and proper Ally….. Which usually just makes me sing louder. Much to the chagrin of everyone else in my boat.

After Splash, we were able to wait out the 10 minute standby line for BTMRR. Now when Ally gets on this ride, her arms immediately shoot straight up in the air. And her voice immediately rises into a blood curdling scream that she uses throughout the ride. Much to the chagrin of everyone in Frontierland……
Back through Adventureland – take a spin with my favorite drunken pirate. Seriously. If Cap’n Jack were to take me prisoner, I’d go willingly.
Well, I might put up just enough of a fight to make it interesting…..
Time to head out and enjoy some of that beautiful resort awaiting us. So instead of hush puppying it back to the front, we decided to grab the train. Now I only knew where all the train stations were because of a board game we have called "Magic Kingdom." If you don't have it, get it! It is a fun way to be in MK whenever you want. And it presents enough of a challenge that it is still fun for adults too!!!!
Continued in next post..... dang photo limit.....

So while on the train, I realized I had not ridden this in at least 11 years, maybe more!
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5010166.jpg
We arrived at the Main St Station, and heard it. You know.... IT! That magical Disney music pumping out of all the hidden speakers. LOUD!!!
Then we saw IT! The new Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It parade just pulling out and heading towards Main St. So we raced down the steps and grabbed a prime spot - prime because we got to see it, AND because there was nobody between us and the exits once it ended!

This has the fun, upbeat energy of Block Party Bash, but only lasts a few minutes. Fun little interlude.
So we blew out the front gates at 4pm!!!! We have NEVER done this EVER since going to WDW. We are commandos. Rope drop thru fireworks.
But we decided to go back and explore AKL this night. And we were sooooo glad we did!
Back with more pics of the lodge, pool, and just flat out Disney relaxation.

Back from my trip to NC and just found this latest TR from you. Those rooms at AKL do seem small. I thought they were suppose to be larger rooms. View was fantastic though. I think it is because you stay so much that you keep getting upgraded. Do you get to press that special button when you call reservations for 10 or more stays at WDW?
Sorry Ally didn't meet the fairy she wanted. But too funny about the DH checking to make sure he wasn't getting smaller.:rotfl2::lmao:
I love Splash Mountain also. My favorite ride. Also, I can't stop taking pics of all the birds here in Florida either.
And I didn't realize you would be at DHS for the 20th. Jacob and I were there also. But looks like you stayed at the front of the park and we were in the back the whole time. So, you didn't buy the one pin and have the artist sign it? I totally got sucked in with the pins and almost purchased one of each for the 20th.
As always, looking forward to more!!!!

OK, so it's not that her house is that bad, but going to visit equates to a horror story..... :rolleyes1 And you MUST ride SM! It's not the drop that is so cool, it's the 10 minutes of audioanimatronics INSIDE!!!

We did get one of the LE pins, and then pretty much scooted out of DHS. But I wish I'd known you were there!!!! I would have loved to have met you! And yes, the birds here just remind me of the coast. So pretty and graceful.

We bought a WDW cd three years ago - I can sing the SM song start to finish, along with the graveyard song from HM, CoP, and many many more. Ally gets sooooo mad at me when I sing! :rotfl2:
This TR is cracking me up! :rotfl:
I aim to please..... Glad you are enjoying it!
Once we get this TR going from this past weekend, I'll post a link. I'm sure it will be funny as it was the DISmoms Gone Wild weekend. Had a blast and actually survived!!! It was me, Ellen (podsnel) and Cammie (Camster0307) and we'll all collaborate on the TR. Plus Ellen's friend Lonnie from Gainesville. I had so much fun with everyone and they were all as I expected them to be - a bunch of crazy Disneyholics just like me!

Yes, I sing. Loudly. Sometimes mess up the lyrics. Ticks off the people in front of me. So then I intentionally sing the wrong lyrics. I like to humor myself.

We left MK, heading back to AK to explore and enjoy the resort. All Ally wanted to do was swim. Which cracks me up because we have the bomb diggity pool here in our development at home. Big water slide pool, plus a lap and diving pool, kiddie pool, and adults only pool. Oh, and a cabana bar. Yeah, Jeff and I kinda like that.....:rolleyes1
So we changed into our suits and made our way to the pool. Clear on the other side of the resort.
This resort does not look that big, but it is spread out.
If I have one complaint about AKL, it's that you have to walk through the lobby area of Boma and Jiko to get to the pool. It's very awkward really, and I felt so uncomfortable traipsing back in all wet and sloppy. And that was BEFORE I got in the pool! So you can imagine my appearance AFTER swimming! It's just an odd setup, IMHO.

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/AKL-pool3.jpg
Now Ally is quite the pool slide connoiseur so here she goes to try it....
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/AKL-poolAlly1.jpg
Not fast enough so we told her to lay back for more speed.....
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/AKL-poolally3.jpg
And her final rating...
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/AKL-poolally2.jpg
Jeff didn't seem to care one way or the other about the slide....
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/AKL-poolJeff.jpg
And these guys seemed to enjoy the pool too....
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/AKL-poolducks.jpg
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/AKL-poolduck1.jpg
Oooooh, AKL has WILD animals in the pool!!!! :rotfl2: And wild children chasing them!
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/AKL-pool1.jpg
After about an hour of pool time, and a little hot tub time, too, we felt nice and relaxed so we headed up to the room to shower and change for dinner. We developed a bit of Resort Gravity. Just couldn't bring ourselves to leave the resort, so we just went to Mara for dinner - just a little counter service for a quick bite.
I was not impressed with the selection here - I guess I'm spoiled by the CS at Pop, definitely the best food court that I have seen so far.
Ally got a pizza and I just got some chicken strips, and Jeff got a burger. Again, nothing too fancy schmancy.

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5010175.jpg

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/AKL-animals7.jpg
Then decided to head in and grab a drink. So we stopped at Victorias Falls and looked out over Boma.

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/AKL-Boma1.jpg
It was so nice to just sit and relax. Usually we run, run, run all day and just fall into bed at night. So this was a totally different experience for us.
Even Ally seemed to be enjoying the down time.
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/AKL-VictoriaFallsAlly.jpg
We took our drinks and wandered around the lobby taking more pics....

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/AKL-lodge7.jpg
Walking out to the viewing area and looking back at the resort, it's gorgeous!
I just loved the light fixtures in here!!!!
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/AKL-lodge8.jpg
We finally settled in the lobby and Ally settled in front of the TV. Yup, there goes our Parents of the Year Award! Take a trip to Disney and let your kid watch TV while sitting in the lobby drinking wine. Oh, and people watching. Did I mention how totally entertainng Jeff and I find people watching? We can entertain ourselves for HOURS!!!! Just put us in an airport, amusement park, hotel lobby, and we'll sit quietly (well, aside from the ocassional outbursts of hysterical laughter) by ourselves.
I especially like the "I'm glad MY child doesn't behave that way......" comments we always seem to make. C'mon, you know you do it too!!!! Watching some poor stressed out mother with 3 or 12 little ones in tow. And Dad...... where is Dad? I'm guessing he raced ahead to the room (or the bar!) to get a couple minutes of peace. Why do dads always seem to disappear right about the time of the emotional meltdowns????
We should have told them our little secret....... Bar down below, and Huey, Duey, and Louie doing all the work.
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/AKL-lodge91.jpg
After watching a few head bobs from Ally, we decided to turn in for the night.
We had a date with Epcot the next day before meeting up with my SIL, heretofore known as BSIL (you can figure out the B, right?) and her family, just arriving for a week at the World. If you were here this week, I'm sure you saw and heard their family.........

I think you have great parenting techniques.:lmao:
I love to people watch also. WDW has some of the best people watching.
DH and I had commented that we liked the moderates (POR) since you walk out of your room and can view all the scenery, I had never thought about how at the deluxe's you end up walking through the hotel to get to and from the pool. You would think there would be a back way to keep people from walking through the lobby like that.
Can't wait to hear about the rest of this trip.

Isn't it true that people watching is the best in WDW!!!! There is a little of everything there..... I love to comment on the clothing selections, too. Jeff prefers the stilletos to walk around the parks, I like my theory of the larger the person, the shorter the shorts......:rolleyes1

Oh, you have no idea what you are in for..... Let me put it this way - we went on a trip with all my inlaws last year and Jeff said, "NEVER AGAIN!!!" Then his sis called to say they were going to Disney and would we like to meet up with them for "dinner." Mind you, they drove and passed within 20-30 minutes of our house but never once considered stopping to visit. MY sister on the other hand, flew to Disney, rented a car, drove 2 1/2 hrs to see me, and even cut their trip short so they could see us.
Needless to say, my sis is more welcome in my home anyway...... but it's because of HER. She makes a much better houseguest anyway.
Just wait, you'll looooooove the BSIL stories coming up.....

It's just an odd setup, IMHO.
:rotfl: at your description of yourself but yes, totally agree it is an odd set-up.
Sorry Ally wasn't a fan of the slide. Can't win 'em all, I guess. Your pool at home, by the way, sounds AWESOME. A cabana bar should be a requirement - right up there with lifeguards!
Oooooh, AKL has WILD animals in the pool!!!! :rotfl2: And wild children chasing them!
Ducks in the pool at Stormalong Bay. Is it just me or does this gross you out a little bit? :confused3 I don't know why... I swim in the ocean and in lakes (not FL lakes -- gators!!)... but ducks in the pool just doesn't seem right to me.
Then decided to head in and grab a drink. So we stopped at Victorias Falls and looked out over Boma.
Isn't that a nice bar area? Ally looks so adorable relaxing in her chair!
Sounds divine. And yes, totally guilty of people watching with running commentary. :rolleyes1
We had a date with Epcot the next day before meeting up with my SIL, heretofore known as BSIL (you can figure out the B, right?) and her family, just arriving for a week at the World. If you were here this week, I'm sure you saw and heard their family.........
:scared1: That sounds ominous! :scared:

I can't wait to hear about your BSIL.
Your AKL afternoon sounded great. Now I'm wondering if I should change one day of my plans for an AKV day finished with a boma dinner.
I did like my Boma dinner.... just sayin.....:rolleyes1
I totally agree with what you say about the AKL, the slide, the walking through the dining areas etc, all spot on! I'm eager to hear about the BSIL lol!
It's kinda weird, isn't it??? At say, YC/BC, there are a lot of different exits to pop outside to get to the pool, you don't need to go through the lobby. Same with BW. Those are the only other deluxes I've stayed at, but it just seemed weird.
Sorry Ally wasn't a fan of the slide. Can't win 'em all, I guess. Your pool at home, by the way, sounds AWESOME. A cabana bar should be a requirement - right up there with lifeguards!
Lifeguards - CHECK!
Cabana Bar - CHECK!
AWESOME water slide - CHECK!!!

I totally agree! And you can say it - you 're afraid of duck poopoo, aren't you????
Isn't that a nice bar area? Ally looks so adorable relaxing in her chair!
Yes, very nice - they even put booze in the drinks!!! An added bonus! :thumbsup2
Sounds divine. And yes, totally guilty of people watching with running commentary. :rolleyes1
I typically sit to make my commentary.....:rolleyes1

people watching is the best. My friend Brenda and myself used to make games of it. i.e. fashion commentary or try to guess the occupation of everyone who walked in.:rotfl2:

I'm back! After a couple of busy weeks including an out of town wedding, battle with by BSIL over photopass pics, and just general end of school stuff. But finally back!
So after our first day at AKL and time spent at DHS and MK, it's up and at 'em again! This time we're off to my favorite park.... EPCOT!
This is our third time to WDW during the Flower and Garden festival and I just love it! I love Epcot anyway, but when it is just overflowing with beautiful blooms, it's even better.
So we get to the AKL bus stop and wait for our bus to Epcot. And wait. And wait. Like I've said a bazillion times before, there is no difference in bus transportation at any resort. It's hit or miss. Here we are in a deluxe resort and wait about 20 minutes for a bus, but we could have no wait at a value resort. It's just luck of the draw.
And our morning started out with a bit of bad luck. But I'm at Disney so who cares!!!!!
We finally hop our bus for the long trek to Epcot, and Jeff turns to me and says, so are we gonna play Kim <insert drinking motion here> Possible again??? I start laughing and he says, "so are you gonna put that in your trip report? Kim <insert drinking motion here> Possible? Get it?"
Yes, Jeff I get it, and it's pretty darn funny, and YES we are most definitely going to play Kim <insert drinking motion here> Possible today!
Ally: What are you guys cracking up about?
Jeff: Oh, honey, we just love playing Kim Possible (aside, to me, <insert drinking motion here>)
So now that Jeff had something to look forward to......
My only complaint with Epcot, it's a haul from the bus to the entrance!!!!!
But finally inside..... paradise found!

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020044.jpg
There were princess topiaries lining the walkway in, and leave it to Ally to find a problem...... "Mommy, where's Ariel?" OK, so not ALL the princesses were represented. Just the cool ones. ;)
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020045.jpg
We got here right after park opening, so there's really no waits yet, so we decide to grab fast passes for Soarin - read, we decided to have JEFF grab fast passes for Soarin, but Ally had other ideas. For the first time in 3 years she begged to go into Character Connection to see the gang.
So I waited with her while Jeff made the FP trek. I was really excited she wanted to do this. It reminded me of our first trip to Disney 3 years ago. Ally had just turned 5 and was terrified of Chuck E. Cheese. Well, so am I but for other reasons. I mean, seriously? A RAT in a restaurant? You'd better believe I'm afraid!!!
Anywho, at one birthday party she literally hid under a table until he left. Terrified. And again, I was scared, too! I mean, don't you ever wonder what's under those tables???? :scared1:
So we just didn't know how she'd relate to the big heads at DisneyWorld. Our first stop was at Epcot, and we saw the relatively new Character Connection and thought it was a gift shop. Jeff poked his head in there, popped out and said, "they're all there." We decided now was as good a time as any to see how she'd react.
Let's just say, she was a fan. Until that darn Chip got Sharpie marker on her dress! Leave it to the darn chipmunks to mess up her attire for the day! She freaked! In a split second, two CMs are converging on us like Jeff at a wing buffet.
CM: Ma'am, did that chipmunk hurt your daughter?
Kara: Uh, I don't think so, I think he just.....
CM (to Ally): What did that chipmunk do to you?
Meanwhile, Chip is shrugging his shoulders, but still smiling.......
Ally (crying and fleeing the chipmunks): uh uh
Kara: I think he just....
CM (to Chip): What happened?
Chip: <smiling, shrugging shoulders, but still not talking>
Kara: HE JUST GOT SOME MARKER ON HER WHEN HE HANDED HER THE PEN, IT'S OKAY!!!!!!
So from then on, Ally felt horrible that she got Chip in trouble. He became her new favorite character and we must have seen that damn squirrel at least 12 times that trip!!!!!
But I digress.......
Here we are again.
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020046.jpg
Still not pregnant, just dressing the part apparently. Cause if I wasn't pregnant in pics from the day before, ain't no way it happened overnight..... not in WDW!!!!

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020050.jpg
And where were Chip n Dale? Good question. I think they saw Ally coming and realized there weren't enough CM agents to handle her this time.
But here she was in 2006 with the infamous rodents..... BEFORE that Chip marked her shirt!
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/DisneyPhotoImage46.jpg
We were on our way to ride TT, when Ally spotted the fairies. Wow! These tiny creatures have taken over our house!!! Used to be princesses, but since they turned to the bottle, we've turned to the fairies...... And here they were in all their floral glory.

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020058.jpg
And of course, what fairie garden would be complete without taking the quiz for each and every one of the fairies???? :headache:
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020059.jpg
We left the fairies and ventured over into the butterfly garden. This freaked me out too. Butterflys are what? They are BUGS!!! I don't do bugs. I don't care how colorful they are. They are bugs. And they were flying all over, cause, well, that's what butterflies do. They fly. Duh!

Oh, you would not believe it!!!! Let me give you the latest. It will make the story from the trip even better. We asked if we could add our photopass card onto her account since they had already preordered the cd, right? She said SURE! So I log into her account (uh, she gave me the log in info, so obviously she agreed to this, right?) and after I uploaded my pics, a few days later they were gone! so I called photopass and it was confirmed the all my photos (not just from my card, but also some photos of us that were on their photopass card) were all manually deleted! So I had photopass add them back in. Then I changed my mind and told BSIL to just delete them. I emailed her this. And then I said, "oh, and can you please send me a check for your parnents gift from 13months ago...."
It's a long drawn out story but suffice it to say that she tried to lie and say that she didn't know what happened to our pics. Then she said that photopass "told her" to move them to a separate folder (what folder????) and I could add them in later. Then she said that no, the website told her to do that. But she would never admit to deleting them even though photopass person could look at the account and know exactly what happened!!!!
It got really ugly, but I kept my cool. Just straightforward and to the point. I'm just tired of always dealing with her BS. So now I'm the bad guy cause I've called her out. And she is busted BIG time!
So that's just one of many many stories I have of her.

Yes! They are bugs! And it's awful here in FL, they get into our screen enclosure out back and can't get out. Then they end up dying out there. But there's no way to help them out - if you touch them, the oil from your fingers kills them. Besides, they are BUGS!!!!!

Oh my goodness! Who knew it had been so long since I updated!!!!
It has been a crazy summer with Ally - golf clinic, swim team, play dates, oh my!
But I'm back to continue this crazy adventure!
I left off with bugs. Some of you may call them butterflies, but I call them bugs. Pull off the wings and look at them. Not so pretty now, are they? hmmmm?
We ventured through the main World Showcase entrance, and stopped at the Kim Possible experience kiosk. I asked the CM how close to the "appointment" time we needed to be - or is it like a FP and you can go anytime after the time? She said due to the limited number of "kimmunicators" you needed to be there shortly after your scheduled time. Hmmmm, we had 12:00 ADRs at Rose and Crown for lunch and were afraid that if we waited until afterwards, our Kim Possible time would be too late. So our sweeter than sweet CM slipped us the equivalent of a Kim Possible FP and said, "you never got this from me......"
So we were free to enjoy our lunch and then go back and grab our kimmunicator and start our adventure.
Now, silly silly Jeff never trusts me when it comes to ADRs. Why? I have no idea because we've never had a bad experience that has come from a restaurant he didn't want to try.
So here we go again with R&C. He had no desire to eat here, so I decided to try it for lunch. We were not on the DDP so we were using the TIW card for all our meals this trip. I figured that lunch would be cheaper than dinner, minus 20%.... how could we go wrong, right? YES!!! RIGHT!
Those pesky Brits tried to seat us inside but I was having none of that!!!! It was a beautiful day and I wanted to eat outside! So we were seated right by the water. Which would have been fine excpet for the blazing sun beating down!!!! That would mean an extra pint o'ale!!!!!
Jeff ordered the black and tan (1/2 guiness and 1/2 something else....). I also got 1/2 and 1/2 but they were both light beers.....
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020085.jpg
Despite the heat, the view was great. I will definitely try to schedule this some time during Illuminations!!!

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020081.jpg
I also grabbed some pics inside.....
Look at this guy - you know as well as I do that he just gave his wallet to his wife and said, "just don't tell me how much you spend and pick me up when the damage is done......" :rotfl2:
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020078.jpg

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020080.jpg
We were brought some yummy breads.....
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020086.jpg
I ordered the fish and chips. Very good! Ranks right up there with Raglan Road which is one of my Disney faves!
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020090.jpg
Ally also got fish n chips. Funny how hers came with peas. I guess Disney wants to keep our kids healthy but knows that we adults are a lost cause!!!
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020089.jpg
Jeff got the shepherds pie and it was absolutely wonderful!!!! I had it at RR and it did not even come close to R&C. The only problem? The portion was very small..... even though it was only lunch.
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020091.jpg
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020088.jpg
As you can see, we all ended the meal very happy. Maybe it was the two pints?
So now that our bellies were full, we were finally ready to begin Kim <insert drinking motion here> Possible adventure!!!!
We headed to the kiosk and they asked us which countries we had NOT done before. They were kind enough to send us right to the UK for us to begin battling bad guys.
Now for anyone who has never done this before, I won't ruin it for you. But you are given a "kimmunicator" which is basically a cell phone. Kids love it cause they pretend they have their own phone..... With this phone, you are given clues around the various countries. You follow the clues and really amazing things happen. Here is an example of a before and after.
This is what this box looked like before we responded to the clue and pressed the appropriate button on the kimmunicator.
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020093.jpg
And this is what happens AFTER....
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020094.jpg
It is so much fun!!! I think that the UK and Germany are my two faves while playing this game. Keep that in mind if you are asked which country you would like to play.
Note the bevvie in Jeff's hand - a must have while playing Kim Possible!!!!!
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020092.jpg
After we caught the bad guy and saved the world in the UK, we moved on to NOrway. Of course, what better place to relax after saving the world than in the Kringla Bakery!!!!!
Now I am embarassed to say..... I did not take pictures here. But I should have. Because even though we did get the school bread. We ALSO got a cloudberry horn. OMG!!!! Kind of like a creme puff, but shaped like a horn, with very light cream inside. Delish!!!! And we got Ally a chocolate gelato before we got there, from the kiosk in Italy.
This is what an 8 year old looks like after eating chocolate gelato in the Florida sun.....

I'm sure there were other adult libations on our trip around the world. Why else would I insist on taking this photo!!!!!
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020096.jpg
I could spend all day in Norway, just smelling the Laila fragrance in the shop..... Love it!!!! Which is why I have a bottle in my purse at all times!
As we made our way the rest of the way around the world, Jeff decided we needed to stop for Fiesta Margaritas. Hey, I'm all about a fiesta!!!
Look good, right?
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020097.jpg
Yup, tasted mighty fine, too. HOWEVER, please read disclaimer!!!! Do not mix margarita flavors or you will get this near the bottom!!!
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020100.jpg
And that, my friends, is NOT a very appetizing drink!!!! It wasn't until we got into Future World and I looked down at Jeff's drink and said, "OMG! Did you MIX that???" He looked down, made a face and said, "I won't do THAT again!"
Next up, some time spent in Future World, and of course Club Kool!!!!

:cheer2: An update! I was just thinking about you yesterday as we wandered around DTD.
Love the Fiesta Margarita's! Those horns sound fantastic, I'll have to go try one of those. By the way, you mentioned how everyone was happy after the meal, or maybe it was the two pints, but that is under a pic of you and Ally. :rolleyes1 :rotfl:
And to those that have not done Kim <insert drinking motion here> Possible, you don't get the same mission each time in each country. We have done the UK twice and haven't had that box as a clue. Too cool!
Well, hopefully life won't keep you away so long this time, but we understand how it is. :goodvibes

However, now I'm sitting at work think how good a margarita would be right now:lmao:

Wow - all those drinks make me thirsty! :drinking1 Think I'll follow you guys around WS next trip ;):lmao:
That spot at Rose & Crown where you ate looks perferct for viewing Illuminations. We saw it from Germany our last trip sitting right up at the railing and it was awesome but your spot looks even better. I have seen it from Japan up on the deck after eating at Teppan Edo and that was beautiful too.
Sounds like your daughter is enjoying her trip - she looked so cute with her gelato mustache!

You need to go to any KP kiosk and get a "fast pass" - that's what it reminds me of. It tells you what time to come back and which kiosk (there are 3 or 4 in WS) to report to. Once you check in and get your instructions and your "kimmunicator" that tells you what country to go to to begin your mission. SOOOOOO much fun!

So after Jeff finished his frozen pea soup from Mayheeko - it was off to use our oh so coveted FPs in Future World.
Jeff decided on this trip that we needed to do something new - which of course I think any normal person tries to do each trip. But even if it's not new for us, we can at least find something new for Ally. This time?
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020075.jpg
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020073.jpg
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020072.jpg
Yes, Martin Short was calling and we told Ally she would LOVE IT! Round movie theater - screen goes all around you - how fun!!!! Yeah? No. Not for an 8 year old. Not when there are RIDES! And CHARACTERS! We walked out, asked her if she liked it.... her response? "Not so much." :rotfl2:
So at that point, we decided we would not be stopping in France or China for a movie...... I guess ducking past the movie in Norway after riding Maelstrom was not the precedent we wanted to set a few years back.....
But it's all good! We're heading back to Future Word now....
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020074.jpg
Have I mentioned before how much I love Epcot during F&G? I love it any time, but it is so pretty all in bloom!!!

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020067.jpg
So after torturing Ally with a 20 minute movie in Canada, what better way to make it up to her than letting her sample some coca cola products from around the world!!!!
Wait, Ally - save this one for the last - it's the BEST and it's called ..... BEVERLY!!!!
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020098.jpg
Oh, yeah, not so much, huh???
There are so many ways that Epcot is trying to improve their kid friendly image, not that they really need to, IMHO, but I guess every little bit helps. So why not stick a CM in the middle of FW and give them hula hoops????
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020101.jpg
Hey, it keeps em occupied while the parents are shopping the kiosks! And anything that allows me more shopping time is A-OK in my book! :thumbsup2
Finally, what is a trip to Epcot with a ride on.....
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020068.jpg
Now, I do have a confession to make here. While I think Soarin is a great attraction, I really do! And I think it is a must do each trip, I really do! But quite frankly, I am getting bored with it. There! I said it! I got it off my chest! And again, I encourage everyone to ride it, but with the exception of Puddy, who I can watch every time and laugh, I just don't get excited for Soarin anymore. I'm sorry.
After soarin over Cali, we decided to hit The Seas, since we did take Ally out of school on Friday, and since we WAS studying marine life in school, we decided to get her some edjamacation this here trip.
So we hopped on to ride along with Nemo....

I feel the same as you about Soarin'. Movie needs to be changed. It would be nice if they had several different movies and you never knew what you would get.
Are there any Manatee viewing areas around you? In the Winter, they like the area around the electric plant here and there is a viewing center. Maybe you can make a trip next time you are in Orlando in the Winter.

Yes, we have a place nearby to see the manatees, but I have yet to do it....

I'm telling y'all - it is the best new attraction Disney has come up with in a long time! We do it every time we're there - and we do make quite a few weekend trips. But if we're in Epcot, you can count on seeing us drinking, er, I mean, PLAYING Kim Possible... ;)

I was so antsy to get out of the Seas - I'm not one for watching a bunch of sea cows lay in the water. Yup, just laying there. I wanna see Flipper jumping and doing tricks!!!! Or I want someone to Free Willy or something like that!!!! But trying to salvage my "Mother of the Year" Award, I needed to stay there with Ally.......

Nah, drop the kids off and play alone! After two or three adult libations in WS, you'll find yourself giggling the whole time you are playing!!!! You know it's bad when you're having more fun that your kids, and arguing over who gets to hold the "kimmunicator!" So here's my secret tip - get your kid an ice cream or something that requires two hands, then YOU get to be in charge of the game!!!! ;)

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for the laffs and keep going on those trips so we can take virtual vacations thru you! And....PLEEEEAAAAAASSSSSEEEEE post BSIL soon!! :)
Take Care,
Lisa
Thank you! You are very sweet!!! Unlike the BSIL post that will be coming.... :rolleyes1 And I promise to post that today or tomorrow!
Not so patiently waiting for the next update.... :rolleyes1

OK, so after our edjamacational trip to Epcot totally justifying pulling Ally out of school for a day..... it was back to AKL for some relaxation by the pool.
I've got so many more pics of the lodge itself, and the animals, but I'll save them for later. Let's get to the good part.
We were meeting BSIL and her family for dinner at 6:30 at Boma. They had just arrived and checked into their resort around 3ish, so we expected them to relax, let the kids unwind and swim for awhile, before meeting us.
Nope.
About 4:30, Jeff gets a call that they are in the lobby. Yes, the lobby. Of OUR resort. MY resort. My refuge. My safety from all that is BSIL. Yes, the "B" does stand for exactly what you are thinking. And you'll soon find out why.
So Jeff told them to come on down to the pool and meet us. Sure enough, here they come, with two WILD children in tow - 5 year old and 1 1/2 yr old boys. They have been in the car since 6am and did not sleep at all. :scared1: But why would they want to give them a nap before dinner? Silly me!!!!
Jeff buys them both drinks. Sadly, he did not booze up the kids, too, as that would have made for a much more enjoyable dinner...... Whoops! There goes my Mother of the Year Award... AGAIN!!!!
Ally and I ran upstairs to shower and change for dinner and my much anticipated DISmeet - at least there was a proverbial silver lining to this rain cloud that had just descended on my happy place.....
I was meeting my bud Lorrie, that I have "known" for over a year over on another thread, Control Freaks and Worry Warts, and I was really excited to meet her and her family! They, too, had just arrived that day and were also eating at Boma that night, but about 30 minutes before us.
So I showered quickly, and texted Lorrie - sure enough, they had just arrived in the lobby!!! So Ally and I ran down to meet them, bringing them a case of water for their stay. Hey, it's the least I could do since I drove in and they flew......
While I was chatting with Lorrie, Jeff flies by, heading to the room to shower himself, while leaving BSIL and family to terrorize the rest of the resort. I think they were outside checking out the savannah.....
I think Lorrie and I were able to chat for 10 minutes or so, before Jeff came flying back by, all showered and purtied up for dinner. He was frantically asking, "Where's my sister?" Yeah, he knew. Not that he was trying to save the other resort guest, he was afraid she would be ticked off that we weren't there to entertain them.
So before saying goodbye to Lorrie, we took the obligatory DISmeet photo....
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020003.jpg
Such a great family and I hope we can meet up again sometime soon!!!
So it was off to find the other half of Jeff's childhood. How these two are related I will never know.
We watched the animals for awhile and then decided to head to Victoria Falls for a drink... or 6, as I would need.
View from Victoria Falls over Boma...

Can't remember what this was called, but it was the signature drink for the year.....
The glow cube changed colors. I like colors. They make me happy.....

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5020010.jpg
I think Jeff picked up this round too, cause that's what he does. And BSIL's hubs didn't object, cause that's what HE does.....
While sitting there relaxing, BIL decided it would be fun to let the kids run around and scream. Cause, well, that's what THEY do. Normally, not a problem, but there were people around us who probably just wanted to relax. And BIL decided it would be more fun to CHASE the kids.....
When Jeff commented that there were other people, he said, "too bad, it's Disney World." :scared1: Uh, yeah. The fun is just beginning. I mean, I like kids, even my own, but even at Disney World, there is a time and a place. There is nothing wrong with good behavior. Heaven forbid!
It was almost time for our ADR, so we headed down to the lobby to get our coaster, and sat there waiting. While baby nephew stood on the chairs and decided to jump off. And I got a dirty look cause I didn't stop him. Me, who tried to sit him down to begin with and was told, "he can't help it, he's just wound up." Hey, not my kid's blood! Wow! There goes my Aunt of the Year Award!!!!!
Soon, we were seated. And it smelled sooooo good!!! Boma is at the top of my list now and I don't even like buffets!!!!
So once we were seated, I ordered another pretty colorful drink ;) and BSIL did the same. BIL gave her a dirty look and she announced, "what? we're on vacation for crying out loud!" Guess he didn't like the idea of actually PAYING for their own drinks!
I know, I know, I'm mean. But you'll soon see why.
OK, now I will do my best to tell you what each of these items are, to the best of my recollection....
This was the meat station - I think prime rib? Didn't even try it but Jeff and BIL enjoyed...

Great dinner and I HIGHLY recommend Boma! But the food is not straight meat and potatoes, so if you don't like to be a little adventurous, it's probably not right for you. But oh so good!
Usually, I don't get my money's worth at a buffet, but not this night. In fact, after we were done, Jeff looked at me and in his best redneck voice, he said, "honey, you done made me proud tonight!"
Next up, the photopass fiasco that made me say "I'm DONE!" with BSIL.

Stupid hungover Sleeping Beauty……
:lmao: :rotfl2: I like your theory on the 3rd string princesses. Must be the reason that Disney has continued to do well in this crummy economy. :thumbsup2

I'm so sorry you are related to people like that. I have a few (quite a few!) on my dh's side too. Some I would never even take in public. I am totally one who also believes there is a time and place for everything. I get having wound up kiddos, I'm a real softie as a mom I would even say. But to let your child have prolonged screaming and wildness at the expense of others? Um, not so much. I bet you wanted to crawl in a hole!

We have family members that we don't like to mention also. Hate to go out to eat with them. They eat almost all of their meal then ask to see a manager. They procede to tell the manager how awful their food and service was. They usually get half their check taken off or totally comped. Ridiculous. We don't go around them anymore, even avoiding them at family events.

Hi Kara!
I have to agree with you about Boma. We ate there on Easter and I loved that place! It was definitely nice not to do the same ol' thing for a holiday dinner. Geez..I wish I had known about those colorful drinks. I gotta pay more attention to the booze menus on the table so I can make my trips a little livlier. I don't do good when it comes to mixing different kinds of alcohol tho and I'm afraid it would not turn out well for me. Maybe just one drink a day would do me just so I could say I've tried them.:thumbsup2 Wow, I don't even know BSIL and I already want to slap her. I can't stand someone who lets their kids run wild and be a nuissance to everyone else. Probably another reason I shouldn't consume multiple drinks on a trip cause my lips may get loose! ;)
But back to Boma....altho the soups were delicious and the hummus was yummy, I think my favorite was the Fufu. Are you familiar with the Fufu? It's kinda like a mashed sweet potato dish. Very good...but I must admit I had to ask my MIL for an Immodium AD while we were standing in line to get our pics taken with Mickey. I believe what I said to her was "Do you have any Immodium in your purse? I sure hope so because if not we'll never make this photo with Mickey. No doubt this Fufu is going to make me go _____!!!!". You can fill in the blank with a rhyming word here...:lmao:

OK, the moment you all have been waiting for.... drumroll please.......
If you noticed in my pic with my friend Lorrie from the last installment, I was kind of "dressed up" at least for Disney. This is because we noticed a photopass photographer set up each night in the AKL lobby and decided to get some nice family shots. So I color coordinated all of us (like I don't do that anyway!!!!!) and off we went to dinner.
Well, Jeff told BSIL what we were doing so they of course decided to do the same. No problem, right?
This is where it began. I asked her if they had prepurchased the photopass cd for their trip and she said YES. Then I asked if we could add our photopass cards to their account and she said No Problem...... see where this is headed???
When we go to WDW for a long weekend, we don't want to spend an extra $100 for the photopass cd, but I might occasionally order a 5x7 or something, but knowing that we could piggyback off their photopass, we decided to use and abuse the photopass photogs more this trip.
BSIL had given me her login info and I added all my photopass numbers to her account, plus I scanned through her pics while they were still on their trip - I also emailed Jeff's parents and gave them the login info so they could view the pics too.
Fast forward about 3 weeks. I log in to edit my photos and.....
THEY ARE ALL GONE! Every photo that included me, Jeff or Ally is gone. Now when we were together for the AKL shoot we just used one photopass card - thought it might make a nice gift for Jeff's parents. Also the next day at MK we had some group shots taken and they went on just one card - sometimes our card, sometimes theirs.
So that told me that it wasn't just our cards that were gone, it was just our photos.
I emailed BSIL and asked her if she knew what happened. Her response?
"I have no idea, but I"ve been having problems with photopass."
Hmmmmm......
I try to reenter my card# and it won't take it because it says that it has already been entered. So basically, my photopass card is now null and void. I get REALLY upset and tell Jeff that if what I think happened actually DID happen, I am DONE!
I call photopass and was told that "a lot of photos look to have been manually deleted."
Yup. You got it.
So I emailed BSIL and asked her about it. She said that photopass told her to "move them to a different folder" because she was out of room. There were only 150 photos on there, plus our 80 photos. So room is not the issue, I know from experience.
And there are no other "folders" to move photos to. I call photopass back and the CM reinstated all the photos for me.
I again emailed BSIL and told her what happened. Then, it happened.
I lost my cool. Just thinking about what she did and the fact that she LIED about it, really set me off.
So I sent a really nasty email to her at work and told her to go ahead and delete our photos AGAIN, because I didn't want to put her out. Oh, and I also added that she needed to pay me for a gift we got her parents in May 2008 for taking the family to Disney. And for another gift we sent to her mother in February. I was not nice about it. However, I was just very straight, and to the point.
The emails back and forth got ugly and I told Jeff to stay out of it - this was between me and her, I'd finally had enough of this kind of behavior over the years, but now she was messing with MY family and our memories.
I know what happened too. She got home and was so bummed out like most of us are when we return from a Disney vacation, and she found out I was going again two weeks later, and her jealous vindictive side took over. She even made the comment to me that I shouldn't worry about losing my pics because "we only get to go once a year - how often does YOUR family go?"
Yes, that sealed the deal for me. I knew she did it deliberately because she was jealous of our proximity to Disney. Period.
Poor Jeff - I think he was just so shocked that I finally lost it, that he didn't know what to do. So his first instinct was to call him mom and say, "Whatever you hear, just stay out of it." Of course, BSIL had already called her, yada yada yada.
To this day, I stand by my actions though. I really was not nasty, like I could have been, but I wasn't going to let her off this time.
Oh, and luckily, NONE of our pics turned out that great so I really wouldn't have printed any out anyway - we got better candids with our camera that trip!
A few days later she emailed to tell me the check was in the mail and that she added all our photos back in. That was over a month ago and I haven't seen a photo cd. I swear if I get it I'm tempted to put it right back in the mailbox with "return to sender" on it! :rotfl2:
So there you have it, and believe it or not, I tamed it down. If I would have posted this right after it happened, when my head was still spinning and green goo was shooting out my ears, aka exorcist, you would have appreciated it all the more.
And this is just but a sampling of her behavior over the years, just the first time I called her on it.
OK, later, on with the rest of the TR and another really good BSIL stunt at MK!

OMG, You mean there's more???!!!! That was a really sleazy thing she did. I bet you would have beat her senseless had she lived close to you...lol. It must have felt so good to finally put her in her place. I can't stand having to walk on eggshells around someone just so they don't get po'd. It sucks all the fun right outta whatever it is you're trying to enjoy. Was your husband crouching down like on the Dinosaur ride when the s*** started to hit the fan? :rotfl2: I hope this has taught her not to mess with you. I also hope you have nothing but MANY wonderful trips to Disney in the future! You Go Girl! :woohoo:

What a jealous, spiteful, mean spirited, ungrateful, person!!!!!!! I mean how can you be like that. And why does it seem that SIL's are like that. I know mine is a jealous, unthoughtful, witch. If you buy a new car, she needs one bigger and better. If you buy a camper, hers has to be bigger and better. Your remodel, she remodels. And so on and so on. Please. It is not a frickin competition. Be happy for your family members. But nooooooo. Sorry, got off track. :rolleyes1
I'm glad you put her in her place. Hey, you don't have to live with her after all. And what is that old saying, You can pick your friends but you can't pick your relatives, but you don't have to claim them! :lmao: And I don't think I would be a claiming her. I don't even talk to mine anymore, unless I absolutely have to.
So, here is to many more trips for you and your family, and I hope that you post your reports here. Because I am so happy for you and your family for having so many wonderful trips that you can share and I can live vicariously through you. ;)

Yes! Jeff basically was MORE afraid of me than he was of Dinosaur! :rotfl2: And I'm so not a violent person, but at that time, I was so ready to go all redneck on her! :lmao:
I really missed it when you were there in 2008. I would have loved to meet her.
At that time that I met you, she was mad because Ally had just gone through BBB and BSIL was PO'd that she was getting so much attention from the CM's. So if you would have seen her, all you would have seen were the whites of her eyes cause she was constantly rolling her eyes!

Sounds like they are two peas in a pod! And you're right - it's so not a competition! My sis lives very humbly - she's a SAHM and her hubs is a firefighter, but she's so excited for me when we do something or buy something. There's just no competition there at all! But BSIL did the same thing when we bought our first "starter" house. She went 500 sq feet bigger and then just HAD to move after they had a child cause that was too small.
We've been very fortunate with Jeff's career. We're able to do a lot of things and I'm very thankful. But I would NEVER begrudge someone who can do more! That's just not in my nature.
Oh, but guess what? I know, I know, I'm sooooo bad! After this whole fiasco, I emailed her to get her opinion on cruises. She has been on two because her DH's grandfather takes the WHOLE extended family every other year. She went on and on about it and then I told her I was asking cause we are looking to do a Disney cruise in 2010. She didn't replay to that email!!!! :rotfl2: I guess I can claim the "B" status for that, huh?

I have to admit...it is a good thing you waited to post on BSIL, because I was on the other end of your texts and phone calls while all this was happening. And while you stated you are not a violent person, this could have been that time that you would have lost it. The images I had of you sitting in some cell with a dirty mattress and toilet and a cell mate just like your BSIL, which in turn would cause you to go further over the deep end, take her out and end up in maxium security somewhere...what would I tell your neice and nephew?!? (But I know one thing...I'd be comin to FL to take my neice to Disney. Just cause her mommy went crazy doesn't mean she has to suffer. Yea, Jeff could come also, as long as I get to ride Dinosaur with him!!!) Aren't I a good aunt?!? :thumbsup2

I can however completely picture my EX-BSIL doing something like that. EX thankfully being the operative word. I'm glad you got your pictures back and good for you for calling her out on it.
I called my ExBSIL out twice during the time she was actually my BSIL. She is still mad about it and is still the wronged party. 12 years ago and she is still mad over a perceived wrong. The wrong of course being that I didn't do what SHE wanted me to do which was, as you stated, all about HER.
My ex MIL is so mad she is still stuck with exBSIL and not me, I feel bad for her but oh, happy for me!

Jillian - the funny (or should I say SAD) thing about this is that BIL lost his brother to cancer at a very young age and they constantly preach about family this and family that. Yet when they went to WDW this time they didn't even tell BIL's family for fear they might want to go with them! I can't imagine making a big trip like that without telling my family!
All caught up on your TR.

Speaking of family..... where have you been???? I'm so glad you would be a good aunt and keep Ally's Disney fixation while I was in.... prison? How long have you known me? Prison????? If I didn't take you out when we were younger, I think I'm safe now! :lmao:
Oh, next family vacay with Jeff's family? Next summer! :scared1: His mom wants us all to rent a house in Gatlinburg for a week with Jeff's aunt and uncle, both cousins and their wives/girlfriends, plus Jeff's family. We've already said we will only do 3-4 days. At least I'll have Jeff's aunt as a buffer.....
I just can't believe people sometimes, it is truly mind boggling.

It's funny, because both MIL and FIL know what BSIL is like. In fact, FIL hates going to visit them because BIL is a bit strange too. There always seems to be some sort of drama when they visit.
I'm fuming all over again - can't believe that woman.
I'm pretty much over it now, only because I know that I made my point and she's been called out. We'll see how she behaves next time we see her. But I've already told Jeff, she and her family are NOT welcome at our home. So if we do a holiday here for Jeff's family, it will only be his parents. Sorry, but I warned him. There comes a time when enough is enough and I won't be taken advantage of again.
When they stayed here the night before the whole family went to Disny last year, and then thenight after the trip, she was so mad that they had to get up and leave to drive 9 hours home, that she just threw all their wet towels on the carpet and left them there! When I visit, I not only strip the beds, but I will take all our towels and sheets and start them in the washer! Again, just vindictive.
Interesting narration....and also interseting to hear that dinosaurs in DWD are so fearsome...!
Are the dinosaurs fearsome or is Jeff just a wuss? ;)

Rosie - I know!!! Jeff called them their last day there and asked if they wanted to come to our house (2 hrs away and on their way home), hang out at the pool, and relax, then get up and leave early the next day. They said no, they wanted to stay at WDW. What ticks me off is that if we wouldn't have met them at WDW, they would have made NO effort to stop and see us. Now for me, I could care less, but I'm sure Ally would like to see her cousins, and it would be nice for BSIL to make an effort to see her brother and niece. But nope. And we are literally 1/2 hr off the path. So selfish... :sad2:

Just finished reading this TR last night. Kara, you really should become a famous author. Your storytelling is fantastic!
BSIL :headache: I think almost everyone has one of those, me included. I have never told her off. No one in the family has or will! She's evil. I don't know how Darrin and she could have been raised in the same family. It is comforting to know that they are not blood related, as both are adopted -- so none of those evil genes could have made it into my children! I think that you did the right thing by standing up to her. Like my BSIL, she is probably not used to that, and you may just be able to turn her around if you don't let her get away w/her antics! Go, Kara! :cheer2:

While my SIL isn't quite to B level, she does relish the joy of letting everyone know when she's sick or what she bought new, etc. Facebook is a nightmare!
I also have the melodrama BIL~last week it was that no one in the family cares, no one visits (he lives in the same town as MIL and FIL as well as other BIL)and we are two hours away, thank you-know-who!

So let's move on to happier times in the Happiest Place on Earth, shall we?
After dinner at Boma, it was time for BSIL and her family to head back to their resort and we turned in for the night.
We were up early on Sunday for dinner at Kona Cafe. We packed up and loaded up the car, then drove to Poly. This started our adventure of the day when Jeff kept passing the parking spaces! If you pull into Poly and try to park, don't drive like a man, thinking you will score the ultimate spot close to the entrance, because once you get even with the front of the resort, you can no longer turn into the lot! Instead, you have to continue on out of the resort, back to the main road, and then back in, and do the "drive of shame" back by the security guard to try again.
Not that we did this.....I've just heard about it..... :rolleyes1
I went on ahead of Jeff and Ally as they did some pin trading with CM's throughout the resort. As I was heading up the stairs, I saw a CM at the DVC kiosk and looked at his pins. He was wearing a green lanyard which means he can only trade with children. I saw one that Ally needed and told him to be expecting her. He looked at me kind of funny, and recognized me from the day before when we saw him at a different DVC kiosk! Then he gave me the "that's what they all say" about the kids coming soon to trade.
I checked us into Kona but we were very early - in fact, they weren't even open yet - and went back downstairs to look for Jeff and Ally. Sure enough, they were at the DVC kiosk trading pins. The CM started laughing when he saw me, and then ran through his recollection of the last time Ally traded with him. He seriously remembered her from the day before!!!
I told Jeff, if I see that same DVC CM again, we're buying! It's a sign! More on that later......
Now just to remind you, Jeff and I want to try EVERY restaurant at WDW, so we decided on Kona to try the much coveted Tonga Toast for breakfast. The restaurant itself is nothing exciting. Kinda looks like a Perkins or Dennys.....
But while we were waiting, we checked out Ohana and decided that is a must do for our next trip! Whether or not we do a character meal or not, the menu looks great and the reviews are always good too!
Anywho, back to Kona.....

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5030037.jpg
Our server began by asking us if we wanted the Kona coffee French Press Pot or "regular coffee." Well, who wants to be regular????
So instead of a bottomless cup of coffee for $1, we opted for the $8 kona coffee - only two cups in there......... so yeah, we paid $4/cup of coffee. I guess it was good coffee, better than you find throughout WDW, but for $4 I would have preferred a nice skinny cinnamon latte or something. KWIM?
So of course, I took one for the team and ordered the Tonga Toast with a side of bacon. I'm a sucker for bacon.
Tonga Toast - Banana-stuffed sourdough bread, rolled in cinnamon sugar with your choice of ham, bacon or sausage. - $10.99

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5030041.jpg
Personally, I liked the tonga toast, but the strawberry compote made it super sweet - so I only ate a few bites like that.
Ally had the mickey pancakes....
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5030042.jpg
And I can't remember what Jeff had!!!! I think he did the tonga toast, too......
All in all, it was good but didn't quite live up to all the raves I've heard on the DIS. I am not disappointed we ate here, but now I can say, been there, done that, and move on.
We left Kona and headed outside to catch the monorail over to MK to meet up with BSIL and her family. And yea!!!! We were in time to catch rope drop!!!
I cried.... AGAIN! This time I don't know if it was rope drop, or the fact that we had already checked out and were heading home when we left MK, but it really doesn't matter. I turn into the Epcot dancing fountain whenever I A) first see the castle at MK; B) rope drop at MK; C) watch Ally's face as the characters greet her during a parade; D) just freakin BEING at WDW!!!!
"Good Morning, Good Morning!!!!"

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5030047.jpg
Soon it was time for cattle call and we all slowly made our way into Magic Kingdom. Yup. Saw it and cried again. It has become a joke with Jeff and Ally. As soon as we see the castle Ally looks at Jeff, they smile, and then she turns to me and says, "take your sunglasses off, Mommy."
Then she and Jeff laugh when they see the tears in my eyes. One day she'll understand why.....
We slowly made our way down Main St, never hurrying, just taking it all in like it's our first time. Let the crowds bustle on by, racing to get FP's for Splash Mountain, I just want to savor this moment......
Jeff called BSIL as we turned off at Casey's and they had just entered the park. Wow! I was shocked that they would be here so soon - during our trip a year ago, they wanted to sleep in all the time and complained when we dragged them out for park opening.
So Jeff told them where we were and we waited.
And waited.
And waited.
Jeff called back and they were in Adventureland. He gave her the ole, "didn't you listen to me when I told you where to meet us?" But they didn't care. They didn't see us right away so they just continued on. They were nearly to Aloha Isle before we found them.
But Ally was glad to spend time with her cousins so, first things first - Aladdin's Flying Carpets!!!
I hate anything that goes up and spins. But I decided I could handle it and take photos, too. Besides, I needed something to do since I would be sitting alone. Jeff went on to get FP's for BTMRR for everyone, and BSIL grabbed the seats behind the kids, so I was on my own.

It was already time for our FP's so we then headed over to hit the ride. We stopped on the way to see Goofy, and then found out that BSIL forgot her camera. WTH???
And ya know what? The day I got home I emailed her all the pics I took this day of her kids.

We now made our way over to BTMRR where BIL was to sit out with the baby. He wasn't happy about it either. Once we got in line BSIL asked Jeff and I if we would watch the baby so they could ride "just one" ride together. Mmmm hmmmm...... Jeff and I had just had the discussion that we were not going to be babysitters this day, but of course we agreed to "one ride."
When we got off, we saw that there was a 15 minute wait for Splash. We agreed to watch the baby while they all went on and took Ally with them. We figured 15 minute wait, plus 15 minute ride, they would be gone at least 25-30 minutes, so we went off and strolled around Frontierland, pin trading, shopping, etc.
A CM saw us with the baby and said he looked just like us! :rotfl2: And the funny thing is that he doesn't even look like BSIL - he's a dead ringer for BIL so no relation to either Jeff or I in the looks department!
After about 20 minutes, we headed back to the bottom of the drop where the flume comes around the bend, thinking we could snag some good pics of them. We had the stroller poised to keep him out of the sun as it was getting HOT already! I had the camera ready and we waited.
And waited.
And waited.
We stood there for nearly 30 minutes before we see the crew coming up to us finally. Jeff asked what happened because they NEVER came by on the ride....
BSIL laughed and said, "We kinda cheated. The wait was only 5 minutes so when we didn't see you we went on BTMRR again." And she giggled like it was the funniest thing in the world.
Jeff went off this time! "You did WHAT??? So we've been staning out here for 45 minutes while you went on another ride?"
BSIL: "Well, we didn't see you so we figured we had time."
Jeff: :headache:
OH, it was very uncomfortable for a time there. Jeff, under his breath to me, "Can you believe that? Who does that?"
Then I pulled Ally aside and said, "so you didn't see us?" She told me, "yeah, we saw you but Aunt BSIL said to pretend we didn't." OMG! Seriously?
It took Jeff awhile to settle down after this. He was LIVID!!!! We didn't even mind watching the baby. But the lies and deception were the issue. And to include Ally in that????? Nice.
Making our way back toward Liberty Square now....

It is comforting to know that they are not blood related, as both are adopted -- so none of those evil genes could have made it into my children! I think that you did the right thing by standing up to her. Like my BSIL, she is probably not used to that, and you may just be able to turn her around if you don't let her get away w/her antics! Go, Kara! :cheer2:
Aw, thanks Pam! You're too sweet. Almost like my BSIL! J/K!!!! I just don't think she'll ever change. Luckily they are now 9 hrs away so we don't have to deal with her except maybe once a year. They are only 4 hrs from Jeff's p's, we are 7 hrs, and we see them way more. She only drove to visit her parents once in the last year and a half. It's so pathetic and Jeff gets so mad. But what can you do? :confused3
That's less than a month away!
I know!!!!! And I think we're gonna go down for just one night the weekend before school starts - me and Ally, and her BFF and her mom. Should be fun!
This is just like that car accident you drive by and just have to look at...can't...seem...to...avert...my...eyes.:lmao:: eek: all at the same time.
Upside: Love Boma! and ITA that the soup is awesome. Very cool drink pics!
I love the drama. Nobody in Jeff's family is happy unless there's drama. Everything gets embellished to the nth degree. They aren't happy unless they are the "est" of whatever is happening, i.e. sickest, poorest, richest, hurtest, yeah, I'm making up words now!
When MIL had surgery to have her bladder tacked up, the same day as my mom's double knee replacement, it was like she was at death's door. Crazy!
Oh, and just so y'all know - it's not my my BSIL is "poor" by any means. BIL is an attorney, and she has a good job too and looking to become a SAHM. So any issues with money are moot.
They complained about this being the first trip they have EVER paid for themselves. I guess it's just priorities. I'd rather spend every dime on memories and vacations. They would rather buy the latest and greatest pair of athletic shoes that come out every year. Sure, I can't flaunt where I spend my money, but that's just me.
Have I mentioned how I want to live at Disney World? No, not in Orlando, IN Disney World!!!!! I think there's a little flat in England in Epcot. It's got my name alllllll over it!

I am just now catching this but I got quite the giggle over your Princess troubles. We too had a "homely" princess but ours was at Epcot. We met Belle and Beast in France and Belle was not only not pretty, she had a mustache to boot. Now I am one to try and find beauty in all kinds but this just is not what I anticipated from a Disney princess. We still laugh about it and we are not as kind as you, no homely for us we refer to her as Ugly Belle (not while she could here us though) In fact in PP calender I have a pic of her and my DH labeled Ugly Belle and my beast. At least I didn't have any children to explain anything to.

Wow! You never told me about the waiting while they went on another ride. How about calling to see where you are? Hehe, at leat she is YOUR BSIL, my SIL is pretty cool. I could actually go to Disney with her and probably have a good time.
I thought I had my DH talked into taking a trip this fall. We just got a Hybrid that is getting 50 mines to the gallon, and I thought we should break her in. We figure we could get to adn from Disney on abotu $100.00! I think that is worth a trip, don't you?!?;)

I've spent an enjoyable afternoon catching up with your TR - so much fun to read!
We are very excited to be going back to WDW next year (only 13 months to go!:lmao:)
Unlike you - we have to get on a big, shiny metal bird and fly across the Atlantic to get our dose of magic! But reading reports like yours keep us going!

No one could seriously do that and not get caught but it was fun planning where you could go and what you could do! But honestly, over by Liberty Tree Tavern and Adventureland is kinda spooky because it is so dimly lit at night even when the park is open.

I thought that he participated in some way. Hee, hee! Did you see that Disneyland parade proposal?, and if so, do you know if it was real? I don't know if I would want to hear that it wasn't. I loved it, and would be crushed!
That is totally not acceptable about you babysitting while SOMEONE goes on multiple rides! To top it off, getting Ally involved? Totally uncool, IMO.
I have to ask - do you all, who do such wonderful TR's, take notes on your trip? How do you remember all of the details? I love the food and drink pictures.
I am a fellow boo-hooer, especially at WDW, especially at MK, and also believe that all cares and worries disappear in WDW. It's so magical, and only those of us that feel it can understand that. Non-believers just don't get it.

Ok, add me to the list please! I tell my 15 year old daughter that I would be so happy if I could live at Disney World and she just rolls her eyes at me. I believe I'd be happy living at the Polynesian tho...lol. I love that place! I got up early one morning when we stayed there and went to Captain Cook's and ordered the Tonga Toast. It's cheaper to get it there than to eat at Kona Cafe but if you'd rather go to a table service restaurant that's cool. :goodvibes I thought it was good too but it was too much for one person to eat and it was sweet. The good thing about staying there was that I could get up early, get my Tonga Toast and order breakfast for the rest of my family and they would let me carry all of it back to our room on one of their trays. The lady at Captain Cook's told me just to put the tray outside the door of our room when we were finished and someone would pick it up and she was right as it was gone within minutes. I just love the whole atmosphere of that resort. Anywho, I can't believe she was expecting your daughter to pull a fast one on you. That is something to go redneck on her for too! And after that, even tho your husband was so ticked at her, she was enough of a B to delete your pictures. I think my head was spinning just relaying that whole story to my husband. Can't wait for the next post. I don't watch soap operas.....but I do like reading them!:rotfl2:

Me too! Me too! Although I want to live in Mickey's house. Imagine, waking up next to Mickey every morning! (Although I do wake up next to Goofy as it is!) The bed looks a little hard, but I would manage. It is an unusual love I have for Mickey. My only concern...you don't actually have to be male to wear the Mickey costume, do you? Awkward!!
(I did just learn that Mickey is a person in a costume. On our last trip, my 8 year old DS made a comment about Mickey being a person in costume, and my DH told him to keep his voice down because mommy didn't know. He thought he was one up on me.
Months later, while driving in the car, he let it slip that Mickey is not real, just a costume. Being the actress I am , I pulled over, welled a few tears in my eyes, and asked him to please tell me it was a lie. (Academy award winning performance I might add.) He looked firmly at me and said, "Mommy. I thought it was time you know!!!" ):rotfl2:

Sometimes I miss the longer trips taken less often. Even though we don't need to rush when we're there for a weekend, I still miss the relaxation that a week or 10 day trip offers. And I REALLY love the anticipation of planning a big trip and counting down!
I wonder how many of us there are out there? :lmao: My DD and I talk about this all the time! We used to plot how we could avoid detection and stay in the parks after hours! Just kidding, tho! I have a friend (Debbie......) who said she has visualized herself hiding in the bushes off Main St, just waiting for the park to close and lock her in there! Unfortunately for all of us, I think there's more action that goes on AFTER the park closes!!!!

Pam - I do not take notes, but sometimes when something funny happens, Jeff will say, "don't forget that for your TR" - but I remember the sequence of events based on the order my pics are downloaded from my camera. Every once in awhile, I will jot something down that I want to make sure I remember.

I always get kinda sad when my TR comes to a close, and we're getting there......
Still in MK and making our way through Liberty Square. When we got to HM, Ally wanted to ride with her cousin so I agreed to ride with them, so Jeff was odd man out, but that would change very soon.
We are trying to take a family photo in front of each and every attraction.... little by little....
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5030064.jpg
Waited in line to ride Cindy's golden carousel - why? Because we could. And we try each and every time but finally.....
the elusive horse. THE horse on the golden carousel.....
Cindy's horse!!!! After trying to get on this horse time and time again, we finally did it!
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5030073.jpg
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5030074.jpg
And I don't mind when another child gets on the horse first, but when they don't even know what they have scored......
So, ha ha, na na na na boo boo! We got Cindy's horse, and Youuuuuu didn't! http://www.clipartof.com/images/thumbnail/1143.gif
Trying to get this pic of the kids on Dumbo was nuts! Why is it that people just let their kids run right up into your picture? Do they not see my kids in the big plastic elephant? Or did they miss the camera? The frozen kids with fake smiles plastered on their faces? Or did they miss the Disney etiquette class being taught outside the front gates? Seriously?
This must have taken me 5 minutes to get a clear shot!
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5030065.jpg
And speaking of big plastic elephants, what is it about this stupid attraction? Sorry, I know lots of people love it, but...... why? And for all Ally's daredevil tendancies, she would ride this over and over. :confused3
Next up was the incredible barf machine, aka the Teacups.....

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5030067.jpg
Even Jeff took a pass this time and let BIL take the kids....
Next up - lunch at Cosmic Rays - it was packed inside!!! The good thing is that we got to eat separately, if you know what I mean. I called it a nice BSIL reprieve.
No food porn though - after all, it was burgers and fries......
Afterwards, we hung outside a bit and watched Push do his thing. I love watching him!!!! So did the kids, although they couldn't quite figure out what was going on....
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5030069.jpg
On to score on Buzz Lightyear - well, we didn't actually "score" ;) but Jeff did rack up some points. Why can't I ever beat him on this? I whoop him every time on TSM, but not on Buzz!!!
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5030070.jpg
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5030071.jpg
OK, so who has been to see Monster's Inc Laff Factory? A show of hands please......
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5030072.jpg
OK, so you know that someone is always singled out before the show to dance, or to be ridiculed in some silly way, right? I think dance idiot gets called out two or three times, the others just once..... unless you are "that guy."
"That guy" is called out before the show, and several times during the show with silly comments directed at him from whichever monster is on stage at the time.
And "that guy" just happened to be Jeff. The first time the spotlight nearly blinded him, he just looked at me and said, "oh, crap" under his breath. Yup, that was only the beginning.
If you look at most of our pics, you'll see a diagonal strap across Jeff's chest - that is his pin lanyard. But according to one of the monsters, "oh, look, that guy is wearing a seatbelt." It was soooooo funny! Especially since "that guy" wasn't me!
A CM came up to us after the show and gave Jeff a sticker that said, "I was THAT GUY at Monsters Inc" and Jeff looked at me and said, "that's it? I don't get a fast pass or anything?" :rotfl2:
Up next, the 3pm parade and why I was soooooo mad (but BSIL wasn't the cause of it!).

We saw Push last year when he asked my eldest daughter for a hug - she was thrilled!
I love the carousel - I'll have to look out for Cindy's horse next time! Fantastic!
How funny that Jeff was 'that guy' - I would hate to be picked out at **** (such a bad acronym!:lmao:) but I'd love it if someone I was with was picked on!!
I'm sad you're nearly finished too!:sad1:

So let's move on to happier times in the Happiest Place on Earth, shall we?
Now just to remind you, Jeff and I want to try EVERY restaurant at WDW, so we decided on Kona to try the much coveted Tonga Toast for breakfast.
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5030039.jpg
This came with a side of strawberry compote....
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5030040.jpg
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5030041.jpg
Personally, I liked the tonga toast, but the strawberry compote made it super sweet - so I only ate a few bites like that.
I wouldn't have been able to do the compote either but sure hope to try it one day with out that part!
I cried....
"Good Morning, Good Morning!!!!"
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj94/karajeboo/WDW%200509/P5030043.jpg
Train arrives, mouse hops out, and all is good in the world. Seriously. Healthcare debate? WHO CARES!!! Bazillion dollar US debt? WHO CARES!!!!!
I'm at Disney World!!!!!
exactly!
Nice.

And I don't mind when another child gets on the horse first, but when they don't even know what they have scored......
Next up was the incredible barf machine, aka the Teacups.....

Afterwards, we hung outside a bit and watched Push do his thing. I love watching him!!!! So did the kids, although they couldn't quite figure out what was going on....

Great pics! I love push, we didn't see him this year :(
I have to admit, I wouldn't have known that was Cindy's horse. This is what happens when you don't have girls! (well I have DS12 but she was NOT a girly girl at ALL!).
I love Jeff's comment!

Perhaps you should accidentally not invite BSIL to the next fun event you throw, and lie about misplacing her invitation. And when she calls you on it, ask her how that feels.
Sheesh, we're obviously biased towards you and your family, but that was the craziest, stupidest moves I can think of for a mother to do. Any mother, anywhere! Even though we love you, no well meaning woman should ever be that...itchy but not itchy the one with a b. You know what I mean. Kick her in the shins for me.

Oh, so THAT's Push. I knew about the talking trash can, but didn't remember that his name was Push!
You don't ride the teacups? Or Dumbo? Oh my!
How funny about Jeff's Monster experience!
Do you post on the food porn thread?!

Fun update! Thank goodness for crowds at Cosmic Rays. :rolleyes1 I've never seen Push but would like to. It (he?) looks cute. I've also never seen Monsters Inc. but now I will forever think of your DH as "that guy." :upsidedow

Great update Kara!:thumbsup2
We saw Push last year when he asked my eldest daughter for a hug - she was thrilled!
I love the carousel - I'll have to look out for Cindy's horse next time! Fantastic!
How funny that Jeff was 'that guy' - I would hate to be picked out at **** (such a bad acronym!:lmao:) but I'd love it if someone I was with was picked on!!
I'm sad you're nearly finished too!:sad1:
Shari xx
Cindy's horse is the one with the gold ribbon on its tail. When I saw the carousel slowing down, I saw that it stopped on the opposite side from us. There were only a few people in front of us in line so I thought we had a shot. I ran like a bolt of lightning, well, sort of..... but I did run! Then Jeff ran from the otherside and somewhere we lost Ally. So yes, we were the Parents of the Year sitting on a horse with a gold ribbon yelling, "Ally!!!! Over here!!!" :rolleyes1 But we got the stupid horse!
Great pics! I love push, we didn't see him this year :(

Did you hear Push got assaulted? Apparently he went up to a little girl and said something like, "hey, you in the pink dress." and her dad went up to him and smacked him, tried to knock him over, and yelled "What the f are you talking to her for????" Seriously. People have issues.

Nope. I hate Dumbo. Hate the teacups. Hate Aladdin's flying deathtraps. Hate those super high rocket thingys. I don't do round and round.

Push is cute!!!! It's his voice. I just wanna hug his cuddly square, aluminum, ok so not so cuddly. But he is cute!!!!
The reason he is known as "that guy" is because at several points during the show, the big spotlight goes to the same guy, and the monster says something about "that guy....." like when he said, "Look, that guy is wearing his seatbelt." It's soooo funny!

I can't believe someone would do that. I would understand if it only took 5 minutes to ride BTMRR, but being gone that long. When you have young kids like that you just have to understand there are things you won't be able to do together.
I love that Jeff was "That Guy". Do they ever allow kids to be "That Guy"? Jacob so wants to be "That Guy", was actually thinking of making him a t-shirt saying he wants to be "That Guy".
Maybe Buzz is more for men and TSMM is more for women. I beat Jacob at TSMM and he beats me on Buzz, seems like it is the same for Jonas also.

This is totally random, but every time I open this thread, the french toast w/the pink sauce pops up. I need to go back and read what it is, and where it is from, and if it was gross, but it looks gross to me. Just had to throw that out there...:rolleyes1 Not to be rude. Now the drinks on the other hand.....Oh, that's on another trip report I am keeping up with.:)
Kara - do Jeff and Ally have to do the Kid Pass thing for you on Dumbo, the teacups and the Aladdin rides?:rotfl2:

I have only seen Monsters Inc twice and both times it has been a man. I think kids would love it though!!!

Yes, it's called the Mommy Swap and I just look for the chicken exit. Actually, it should be called the Shopping Swap because I usually end up in a shop somewhere, waiting for them to finish up. And then Jeff comes in to find me with bags that I didn't need......

Hi, Kara's sis!:hippie: (one of her friends from the CFWW thread)
Lovin LIfe - Hi back at ya!! But I feel so bad. I ruined the Disney magic for you! I am soooo sorry. But you understand how I felt when my DS9 broke the news to me. I guess at some point, we must all learn the truth. THIS...was your time. It hurts, but we go on...
I never knew there was a talking trash can! How do I miss these things?!?
Jeff as "that guy!" I love it! My DH would be soooooo embarrassed!! He had a very hard time having to snort as a warthog during Lion King. Poor guy. But at least he can ride Dinasour without screaming like a girl!!!:rotfl:

I was reading your TR and noticed we have the same taste, I bought that same tshirt in May at AK.

The past couple of times I have had to ride in a cup w/my DD who doesn't like all rides and we can't spin! DH rides w/DD who likes all rides, and they spin like mad. THIS time, I am going to switch!
Give me Everest or TOT or Aerosmith anyday!!!
