Hello!

I am very new at this and to be honest a little nervous about starting this. I also want to say to everyone that I have enjoyed reading everything. I have learned alot from you all. I feel like I know several of you. I have laughed with you and cried with you. You have given me hope.

As I say we are just starting on our wonderful adventure. We have found out we are approved for our Make a Wish. We will meet with our volunteer on Monday May 11th. My son Lucas is so excited!! He has already told me I know what I want to do on my wish. I want to go to DisneyWorld and I said that sounds great to me!!! So we are very excited. We found out around April 9that we were approved and it has just put an air of excitement in our home. And after ready several of your stories that has just added to my excitement. We of course do not know dates but we do know it will be at least the fall. Lucas' doctor does not want him to travel until after chemo is over and our last chemo should be the end of July. We know we have to have three dates so we are hoping sometime in September. I not sure how long it takes to get your dates approved. I guess you all can help me out with some kind of estimate of how long it took you.

Well I guess I will share with you of how we got here. In February of 2008 my son started having leg pains. And we just thought it was leg cramps or growing pains and then he would just walk and he would just fall into the floor screaming with pain and he would just stay and scream in pain until the pain would pass. We would take him to doctors and no one knew what was going on. To make a very long story short after two months of searching for answers we finally found a doctor who would help us. Lucas my 7 year old had a biopsy and we found out he has LCH (Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis). LCH is disease caused by too many histiocytes, a type of white blood cell, that cluster together and destroy healthy tisses and organs such as skin, bone, lung, liver, eyes, ears, the central nervous system. At this point it was in his L5 vertebra and it was destroyed that was the reason for his back going out. Then within a month he started complaining of an ear ache. Within a few days we had a golf ball size knot on his jaw. That has destroyed b one in his jaw bone . A few week later he started to walk funny and he developed the third lesion that had put a hole in his pelvic bone. At this point he had started his treatment 12 months of chemo (we started in July). We started out once a week for 12 weeks and then we go every three weeks. He also has been taking alot of steroids. So needles to say we have had an adventure. He seems to be responding well to his treatment. That is how we got to Make A Wish. It has been a hard 14 months and this will be a great way to celebrate with what we hope is an end to treatment (which we will not know for sure until he is scanned again in August). We also have a four year old son Alex. It has been hard on him. I know that he feels like he has been put on the back burner. When we go to treatment it is about 2 hours away. So we are on the road for at least four hours. So Alex has to stay home with family. Also everyone always stops and checks on Lucas and there stands Alex. So this will be a great experience for Alex too. I have enjoyed the pictures and stories of the siblings. This has encouraged me for Alex.

Sorry I went on forever. But I will post after we meet with our volunteers on Monday. Please feel free to give me any advice. I need all I can get. It seems these days I do not think to well. So I need help.

Thank you for reading my post.

Welcom Matt to our DisBoards. I am so glad you found us and glad that Lucas was excepted for a Wish.:banana:

My biggest advice for you right now is to make sure you have all the paper work they need ready. Having your Drivers license and the kids birth certificates photo copied already made the process a little easier.;)

As for how long it takes, it really depends on the the wish org., the needs of the family, and what is available. We saw are volenteer in March and just finally got confirmation about our dates for GKTW. We are still waiting for the confirmation on the Airplane tickets.:rolleyes1 While other families have there meetings and find out within a couple of days that there dates have been confirmed. The volenteer should let you know about how long there chapter usualy takes.

September is a great time to go from what everyone is telling me. There select dates open for MNSSHP open at this time and looks it is a real fun time. I looks like my family is going September 14-19 so maybe our dates will overlap.:woohoo:

I would also check out the Give Kids The World web site. It's were wish kids usually stays and is definatly magical.

Omigosh, your family soooo deserves this trip! You guys will have so much fun! I can totally relate to the sibling issue. But this trip is not only for Lucas, but for Alex and you as well. AWESOME!

Can't wait to hear about your meeting with MAW.
From the time the application was sent in, to the dates being sent, for me took just less than a month! MAW here didn't waste any time! Be sure you can stay at GKTW! It's the most amazing place!

Feel free to ask any questions, large or small.

Great start to your pre-trip report, definately try to stay at GKTW, I've heard so much wonderful things about it, that when the MAW volunteers came to visit my DD Malia, I requested that we would like to stay there instead of a reg. Disney resort, we'll be staying there this June for a week.
Can't wait to here more for you.

We got to meet with our wonderful Make A Wish Volunteers tonight. WOW what a feeling! Lucas was so excited to finally get to meet them. They asked him what his wish was and he said without a moment of doubt I want to go to Disneyworld and ride the trains. He did not hesitate for one moment. Alex surprised me and wanted to stay right there with his brother while they talked to him. :love:The boys had a wonderful time with the MAW volunteers. Now the waiting begins. I hope for Lucas' sake it is not a long wait. He does not wait very well.

Looking forward to taking this journey with all of you!!!

I noticed you are from Nashville. That is where Lucas goes for Treatment. He goes to the Children's Hospital In Nashville. It is about 1 hour 45 minutes from our home (depending on traffic). Lucas has fallen in love with Nashville.

I had to send some missing paperwork to MAW today. My husband always likes to wait until the last day possible to do anything so we had to send a copy of his new driver's license to MAW. While I was on the phone getting the address I was able to ask about our dates. One part of Lucas wish for Disney was to do the Behind the Scenes Magic of the Railroad tour (I believe that is what it is called), but you have to be 10 years old to go. But MAW has put in a special request to see if they would make an exception for him. He is only eight. But he sure loves trains and could tell them exactly how those steam engines work. So I was able to ask the question about our dates and she said that we should have an answer within the month. They are waiting on the doctor to sign off (our primary doc is out of town alot). We know that he will not have a problem with it, because we had already discussed it with him. She had shared that September is a great month to go. So that is what we are hoping for!

Also we have found out that Lucas' school is having a special program for him on the last day of school. They are going to have an assembly and they are asking everyone in school to wear Disney themed clothing and the 5th grade chorus is going to sing Disney songs. The school is going to have a penny war or a dollar war (they are not sure which yet) and make a donation in Lucas's honor for MAW. They are wanting to surprise him. The MAW volunteers are going to be with him that day accepting the donation.

I was just excited :banana:and I have felt like all of you have become friends:grouphug: and I wanted to share it with you. Thank you for listening!!!!

If you have the opportunity, when you are in Nashville, stop by the Disney Store in Opry Mills...and ask if Lynn is there...I work mostly on weekends, but occasionally will work an evening or two during the week! Would love to say Hi! in person.

Good luck with everything!

We know exactly where the Disney Store is. We were just there on Monday looking for a Mickey Mouse shirt for Lucas. He is wanting to get ready for Disney. So I told him we will stop in there again before our trip. So will make sure that we stop in and say hello!

Lucas had a very exciting day at school. His school has been having penny wars between the classes but he did not realize that they were taking up the money to be donated to Make A Wish. They had an assembly today and his principal came in his Mouse Ears and Mouse gloves and another teacher:teacher::flower3: came in dressed up like Winnie the Pooh. They started sharing about Lucas and what he goes through each day and that his Wish had been approved and that we are waiting for dates for Disney. Then his principal had his Make a Wish Volunteer come up and then Lucas. He was so surprised! Then they donated the money in Lucas' name to Make A Wish!!!! It was such a special day. One of the most special moments of the day was when I went to Lucas' class to get him his teacher said that a second grader that did not know Lucas wanted to give him a chocolate rose that she won that day. :lovestruc I thought how sweet!! What a blessing!!! We have been very blessed that Lucas' school has supported him so well. Lucas had been working very hard collecting his pennies because he wanted his class to win. After it was over he said I did not know I was doing that for me.

I just feel very blessed and wanted to share!!!

Thank you so much!!!! We are excited.

Yes you are right about the good in the world. That has been the positive part of Lucas' disease. We have been blessed by so many special people and how the Lord has allowed them to be in our lives. We were eating at a restaurant right before Lucas was starting his chemo and a lady oveheard us talking about it and a total stranger put $60.00 in his pocket and said put this toward a Ninetendo DS he will need that during his chemo. It is amazing running across these special people. And also this board. It has been amazing getting to know people on these boards and just kind words that people share and they right just make your day.

So thanks for sharing!!

How cool!

Lucas loved that you noticed his train shirt. It was wonderful surprise for Lucas when our MAW volunteer had brought it with her. She said MAW was going through Lucas' information and read how much he loved trains and they had some extra shirts and sent one down for Lucas and one for this brother. Needless to say he has wants to wear it about everyday.

Actually we love the place but we do get tired of seeing it so much. I reminded Lucas that tomorrow was chemo day and he said ALRIGHT!!. He just loves his doctor and his nurse. They treat him so special there. Most people are amazed at how Lucas gets excited about going to his treatment. He is at the point that he helps flushes his port and everything. He gets involved with it. They tease him that he would be a great nurse one day.

We love going to Nashville. It is about a 2 hour drive from our home. My husband always says he can see himself living there one day. I love shopping in Nashville!!! and eating but I love eating anywhere.:)

Lynn

Eveyone is doing well. The heat has been bad this weekend so I have been trying to convince the boys it is best inside. Both boys are doing well. Lucas has been extremely hyper this week. He had chemo on Monday and he does a week of steroid. 40mg a day for five days. We just finished the steroids and needless to say he is bouncing.

We have two more treatments (we pray). One July 6th and the last one should be July 27th. We then go back for one day of scans.

We sure hope we have our dates soon. I talked to our MAW volunteers in May and they were saying we should have them by the middle of June but we are still waiting and boy is it getting harder each day. We have been lucky that the entire process has went quickly well until this point. My concern is my work. The time off is first come first serve. There can only be one person off at a time. So we have given them the dates I know is safe. But someone can pick those dates while I wait. But I know it all work out just fine. So keep your fingers cross that we can get our dates soon!!!!

I would definitely call them...maybe later this week...if you don't have dates yet.

I am not sure they realize how difficult it is for some parents to get off work. They sometimes think...and they should be right...that a Make a Wish trip should give you preference on your time off.

It would be best for everyone involved to only do the paperwork on the dates one time...so I would imagine MAW would want to be aware that you are afraid the vacation time for your dates will be taken if you wait too long.

Hopefully you will know soon, though!!

And hopefully this heat breaks, soon, too. It is really hot down here, too. I am melting. :rotfl:

Thank you for the advice. :) With any other thing I would be calling but it is funny how with MAW being so generous and all I just feel bad about calling and bothering them. I know that sounds silly because with any other thing I would be calling. But you have a good point that it would be easier to get a date and set than to have to change everything. Do you suggest going through our MAW volunteer or calling our local chapter?

Yes we are melting down here. I was complaining about it over the weekend and someone shared at least it is not the ice storm. It seems everyone in our town is still feeling the trama of the ice storm.

Thank you again for your advice

I am SOOOOOO excited!!!!

I am so going to be in Disney over those dates!!!! :) :woohoo:

Your park days will probably be Sept 6-10th and I will be in Disney from Sept 4-9th. We will have to figure out a way to have a little DIS meet! :) In the past I have come to GKTW for breakfast to meet up with folks, so that I don't take up any precious park time. Totally up to you, of course!! :) You may not even want to meet any crazy DISers. :rotfl:

Do you know how to change your title so you can add your dates?

You can go to your very first post and click EDIT, then GO ADVANCE, and then just retype or type over the title in the first box at the top. Then click SAVE and you are done. :)

I will change it on the Wish Trippers thread, too!! :) That is great news! Feel free to tell the group over there, too!

We would love to meet up with you then! That sounds exciting We can work out a time and a place. My son would love to meet you I just know it.

So I am needing help on planning which park on which days. I know that we will be arriving on a holiday weekend so I did not know if the MK would be wild over the weekend or what. So please help advise. I know I have to be careful because I like to do it all and I know I will have to slow down and stop and smell the flowers. I know my boys will love the GKTW and I may not get them to leave there. My DS loves trains and he may never leave GKTW.

Thank you for letting me know how to make the change. Again if you can give me any advice I would greatly appreciate it.

Oh we would love to meet up with you. I know our next trip is Monday but that will be a fast one. So hopefuelly on or around July 27th we will be down there. Maybe we can work something out then. Then we will have a long day in August because Lucas will have all of his scans. So we usually let him going shoppping after that because of all of the stress. So yes I would love to work out something to meet you.

It is really hard to tell this far out...I know it seems like it should be easy to tell, but the hours keep changing for the parks.

Looks like your park days will be Monday - Friday of that week.

Sun Night- Not sure when you get in, but try not to miss the Candyland Party. It is a cool playground and probably a fun party!

Monday is Labor day. So I would stay away from the MK that day, for sure. It will probably be busy all over Disney. Mon AM the Disney Characters should come to GKTW. So you could spend some time with them and get pictures, etc. That is really fun. You could use your Sea World ticket, spend time at GKTW, go to Universal (which could be fairly busy, too).

Tuesday will be a GREAT Disney day...supposed to be very low crowds since everyone is going home after Labor Day weekend. I would make that a long Disney day...depending on what parks you want to attend, I might even make that the longest Disney day? (We will be at DHS this day and my friend is trying out for American Idol.)

Wednesday - I would probably do another Disney day. (We will be at MK early this morning for Crystal Palace meal and then doing MK that morning and leaving after lunch to go back home.)

Thursday - I would make this a Universal Day and a short day so you can make it back to Christmas at GKTW.

Friday - Your last Disney Day

But...I am not sure what parades you are interested in.

Would you like for me to do a full planner for you? If so, PM me and I can work on it this weekend. :) I need to finish up my Sept plans, too!

We have our planner done!!! Thank you Maroo!!! We have our ADR's at Crystal Palace and we actually get to visit with Maroon in person. And we are going to the Sci Fi at DHS. Oh the boys are so excited. We started the countdown calendar so they can not wait until each day they wake up and mark one more day down. No I do not have maps but that is a great ideal. They boys love to look at maps when we travel.

Order the maps on the Disney website. They are really nice and you can let the kids help you pick which things to have put on their very own personalized disney maps!! :cool1: My daughter thought this was the coolest thing ever! They even send you stickers to mark special things on the map. It's nice to sit there and let them dream about all the fun they are about to have! :goodvibes

If you want to PM me your address (or let me know when you might be down in the store again!), I can get you an extra set of maps. (I am a planning freak, so I always keep extra maps! (I hound all my friend to bring me extra maps home when they go)

When I first started this site I was thinking WOW what a wonderful way of getting information about our trip and tips to help plan the best trip EVER for my sons!!! But what I have received far out weighs anything I have ever expected. We have 57 days left before we leave on our trip and the magic has already started. It is so overwhelming how total strangers have cared for me and my family. The advice you have offered and encouragement has been such a blessing. And also thank you for sharing your family and their stories. I know at times it is not easy. They have been such encouragements! Sometimes you feel like you are all alone and then on this site you are able to reach out to someone and guess what they are there to lean on. And the BIG GIVE!! It is so incredible.

You have all been such a blessing!!!

I am sorry about being so mushy but I felt like this is something that I need to share.

It was so overwhelming that day. Lucas was just speechless. We are so blessed to be a part of a school who really go the extra mile to support their students. What is so cool is everywhere he goes this summer everyone from his school remembers that and asks when are you going on your Wish Trip. So it has made Lucas feel very special. He says Mom I do not even know these people.

You absolutely should be counting the days! That makes it so much more fun! I can't remember - are you doing a countdown chain or calendar? That made it a lot more tangible for my DD. You should make a ticker for in your signature too - that always makes me smile when counting down to a trip. Maroo is an expert if you need help with one - she has at least five or so going right now. Looking forward to hearing details about the sendoff party.

We thought of you today. We were in your area today. I wanted to go by the mall and had every intention but the day was so long at the hospital and we were all exhausted so we headed into home. Yeah! Chemo is over! I can only imagine how happy you all are that this phase of your life is over.

The maps went out yesterday. I had boxes to fit at work. There are three sets of maps. You will be able to tell that one set is different from the others. It is a little older and will not have some of the most recent additions/changes (like no American Idol). I figured you could keep that one for yourself, and give the boys the other two since they are identical.

You all will have to come down to the mall for just a "fun" day. I usually only work one day during the week (most of the time it is Wednesday night) because I work a regular 8-5 job too. But I am usually there on weekends.

Thank you all for celebrating with us. Now we wait the 30 days until his scanned. My 5 year old said the cutest thing this morning. The doctors keep talking about Lucas getting a clean report. My 5 year old said today I sure hope bubby's dirt is all gone from inside. I must of looked very puzzled at him and he said Mom I hope the chemo cleaned all of the dirt out so he will have a "clean report". I had never thought of this way. My boys take everything very literal.

We are so blessed to be planning our trip and not focusing on the next 30 days.

That IS a great cake -- don't be so hard on yourself.

It's good to see all the goodies the boys are getting from The Big Give! That is one of my favorite parts of reading the PTRs -- to see all the goodies those ladies send to these kids.

Have a great weekend! It's warm on this side of Kentucky. I guess we've been spoiled by a cool summer so I won't complain. It IS August afterall :)

Thank you for!!! At least the cake tasted good. That is what coutns.

The Big Give has been great. It is like Christmas coming home and finding what Santa has left on your doorstep.

I know July has been great but I afraid August is going to be bringing the heat back.

Thank you for so much for your comments. I am trying with the sizing of the pictures but I must be doing something wrong. :confused3 I go in and resize and think I have done it until I get over here and see the posting. I am going to try to work on the pictures again and hopefully I can get it right. The boys received another Big Give today and I will post those pictures tonight. :surfweb: I am going to work on that sizing problem.

Stay tuned to see if she can get it right................

Photobucket can be very hard to work with! At least I think so unless I am totally clueless. I wouldn't worry about resizing the old ones but any new ones you load in there, pick large or just link them as is. We don't mind huge photos! Glad to hear another package arrived!

I agree with Jen...I would not worry about resizing the old ones.

I always "preview" what I am about to post to check my picture size. And I learned the hard way that you can go smaller, but you can't go "bigger" once you have resized it...so I usually start with cropping the picture, then resize it to Large, then post it. And that usually works.

If you still have trouble, call me and I can walk you through it. I should be around my computer quite a bit for the next few days and don't mind walking you through it. You should have my number...if not, PM me and I can send it to ya again. :)

When I upload mine I use the "medium" size on photobucket. That is when you log into your photobucket account and go to upload there is a drop down menu and I pick "medium" if I am going to post them on a discussion board! I hope this helps!

I did it!!! I did it!!! I found out that somehow everything was preset to thumbnail view and I was saving it right but it was always going back to thumbnail. YES!

By the the real subject at hand. Another BIG GIVE!!! The boys received the wonderful crayon roll up packs. They were wanting to play with those right away and I talked them into saving them for the plane ride. I told them how they always have their crayons falling out of their boxes and dropping. Well with this wonderful gift that problem is solved. We loved these so much. SO A BIG THANK YOU TO OUR BIG GIVER!!! Much appreciated!!!

Alittle disappointed. :sad1:We were told at our last appointment that Lucas' scans would be 30 days from his last chemo. But they have called and it will not be until Sept. 17th (for the scans) and then we wait until Sept. 21st for the results. So we were hoping to be able to celebrate by t he time we left but now we have the scans the week after we get back. But I we are thankful we have the trip to keep us distracted from thinking about the scans.

Hello! My daughter- also 8- wants to know if your boys know how to use cootie catchers? She wants to make them some as part of her Big Give presents to them! :goodvibes She wanted me to ask you if she needs to write down instructions for them. I told her that the parents most likely remember them from being kids as well and wouldn't need instructions, but I promised I would ask! :lmao: She is making most of their gifts herself and hopes they will like them. I am helping her and letting her go shopping for some small gifts as well, but this is her project and she wants to do something really cool for them. :thumbsup2 Apparently cootie catchers are all the rage here in Ga!

How sweet and thoughtful of her. Tell her I remember those well. But my 7 year old (almost 8) likes instructions very well and would really like to read her directions (if that is not too much trouble). He thinks it is cool that he can read and figure things out.

What a special little girl to think of others. We can not wait!!!! Tell her she made me smile today and I really needed that. :)

Just received some exciting news! Our MAW just called to arrange our Going Away Party (yes this is really happening). :thumbsup2 It will be August 27th, 9 nine days before we leave. That is the night that we finally get to see our flight info. We are very anxious to finally know when we are leaving. We live about 2 hours from the airport. So we are trying to decide if we should leave the night before, but it will all depend on the time we leave the morning.

It is just exciting to see everything coming together.

I told my daughter about you being happy about what she is making and I think she feels a little better about her work now. We had a little melt down during the cootie catcher making process, but all is well now and hopefully you can read her handwriting! :lmao:
She tried, all I can say is she tried! I ended up making one as well- my first ever cootie catcher may I add! I will have her try to write down the instructions later. She has open house at school in the morning and is kinda against anything school like at the moment. Who knows why? She loves school! Go figure! She is also making them some other surprises! She loves craft making! Hope to finish soon.... but who knows with her.. :cutie: She tries so hard to make it perfect. :)

I know it will all be just wonderful. It is coming from her heart and that makes it perfect!!! That is exactly what we will see when we get the BIG GIVE. It a beautiful little girl with a beautiful heart. Her handwriting will be just fine and might just look like my son's. We are also headed to open house tonight. So please tell her we wish her the best for her new school year. Also tell her I am so very proud of her because she is giving so much to my child. She already has been such a blessing to my family!!! And we know it will be perfect, again because it comes from her heart. There is no better gift than one from the heart!!!!!

Do you folks get Louisville or Nashville news stations? I was watching WKRN (Channel 2 on Comcast..201 digital) and there was a "teaser" about how someone had taken advantage of someone going on a wish trip!!! I am going to try to catch it, but I have a special event to work at the store tonight and I may miss it...I can not imagine what people would do ...but then there are some crazy people out there!

Hope your week is going well...I can not believe that August is here and we have started schools already!

We get some of our news from Nashville. I will have to check that out (if we get that channel) or I will try to get on line with their station and wwatch that. I am like you I can not believe people would do that.

Yes our school starts next week. The boys are very excited about it. We have had a great week. We got to meet with our MAW volunteer and we are starting to make plans. So excited ! Four weeks from tonight we will be in Nashville. We are planning on going down the night before. We thought it might be easier on the boys that way.

I got to see the news that you were talking about. It ended up being a family on their MAW trip and 5 teens found out about it and broke into their home and was robbing them. But a neighbor was keeping a close eye out for them and called the police. So they were able to get them. But how scary is that. It really makes you think. We are are so excited about our trip and we live in small town USA and everyone know that we are going and when. I told my husband we may need to rethink somethings about annoucing our trip. This maybe a warning to other wish families. I will be PM you

Thank you VroomVroom Lightning so much for the wonderful blankets and treasures. As you can see from the pic above Lucas is very excited about his blanket. He could not wait to wrap himself up in it. We have one that was given as a family gift. Both boys love it and they tend to fight over it. So it was so wonderful that they have their own blankets. Lucas first reaction was "they are so soft and smell so fresh". He stayed all cuddled up in it today. Also he has been sick to his stomach tonight and he is finally asleep and is cuddled up with his new blanket. So it is already given him comfort. Also little brother loved his too. He had a little accident today and his face is strached up pretty bad (glad I got the picture first) and he put his under his face and said it was so soft to his boo boo. So they are already comforting both boys. They said they are having breakfast with Tigger and will make sure to say hi for you. Thank you so much. They were wonderful!!!!

My nephew sleeps with his one I made him everynight too. And whenever he has a boo boo he goes right for the blanket and his special pillow. I love how kids can melt your heart with the simplest things they do. I hope Lucas is feeling better and that he wakes up feeling better.

Oh my gosh, I've missed out on so much! I am loving all the pictures and commentary! Your boys are so sweet, and so are you! I love that your husband wanted to wear his Star Wars shirt to work! :rotfl: What a wonderful family you have!

Thank you so much! This trip has turned my DH into a little boy again. Which has been such a blessing. I guess Mickey still makes us all kids at heart!

I have to make sure Liam doesn't see the picture of your DH's t-shirt, he will want one two. He is absolutly crazy about star Wars.

No worries Corrine!...He may be getting one too!!;)

It will hopefully be like Christmas at your house next week...just waiting for a few things.

You just made my night! Your post really lifted my spirits. It has been one of those days everything that could go wrong has went wrong. So it was nice to know someone was thinking of us! Believe it or not the heat has not been to bad around here. The boys are back in school so we are adjusting to that schedule. Stay cool!!!! Hopefully the heat will lift soon.

We received another Big Give yesterday. I was not able to post it last night because we had a bad storm roll through last night and we were without power for a few hours. Since the ice storm it does not take much these days for us to lose our power.

Thank you so much tricia. The boys loved their shirts. They were so cute. I am just amazed at all of the talentof the Big Givers. My youngest really kpet rubbing his Mickey and saying feels so soft. He just loved that part. They boys are wanting to wear their shirts to school to show them offf and it is getting very hard to convince them to wait and keep them nice for Disney. I was telling them just think all of the new shirts that you will have when you come back and you can share with everyone the wonderful people who made these shirts for you.But thank you again they were wonderful and they agree they will be wonderful to wear at Animal Kingdom.

You are very welcome. This is my first time participating in a Big Give and I was very nervous. (what if the shirts don't get there in time? what if they don't fit? what if the kids don't like them? etc.) Thank you so much for posting and letting me know that they got there OK and that the boys liked them.

Oh, and don't you hate being without power with kids in the house. It is like the end of the world to them sometimes. My boys were home alone the other day and i got a call from my oldest. "Mom, we have a situation" I'm thinking OMG, :scared1: what is wrong? He says "The power is out, how do I get it back on?" :lmao: I told them to go outside and play, as the weather was nice. By the time they came back in it was back up.

Your shirts were wonderful!!!!! They were just perfect for the boys. You did a great job.

Oh the power thing is big around our house. We had a major ice storm to hit us the end of January and our entire town was without power for I believe 6 days. I mean nothing in our town. We had to drive at least 45 minutes to get gas for generators and food. The towns that were that far away were running out of batteries, gas, and supplies because everyone from our town was heading there to get supplies. We were without power for 10 days. So when the power goes out my children (and to be honest me too) get very nervous. Our infra structure is still weak in our area because of the ice storm and they are still working to repair the system.

Thank you again.

You can tell the boys they have cootie catchers coming there way! :lmao: Cooties ahoy! Anyway- my Aleks didn't wanna write out directions... go figure. She is getting enough writing at school by what I gather... third grade must be a lot of writing and learning new words. She even had to have a thesaurus this year! She and Davy (my almost one year old DS) made them something extra special- I won't ruin the surprise, but she was very proud of herself. :rotfl: You should have seen them at the table with their creations! It was cute!
Anyway, hope you guys are doing good - Aleks says she wishes you guys were going at the same time as us! She is just excited as all get out to miss school for Disney!:lmao:

Excited!!! Oh my!!!! We are so excited and can not wait. My family just needs some time away. We are anxiously awaiting to see if the year long chemo has kept his disease in remission and the tumors have responded. So I am very anxious about that. Also I have just learned there maybe cuts at work so I am very worried about my job. I may not have a job when I get back. So needless to say with all of this going on I am needing a break very badly. Oh my where did all of that come from. Maybe I needed to vent alittle. So this trip has helped take my attention away from all of the stress.

Aww so sorry to hear about your work. You'll be leaving for your trip very soon (2 weeks from today!!!!) so that definitely gives you something else to think about. Everyone will get to leave their problems in Kentucky!! I pray that everything works out for you and you continue to keep your job. It's just really sad hearing of people losing their job.

This trip has been a great distraction for me. We have alot on our plates once we return. Lucas has his MRI, CAT Scans and Bone scans the Thursday we return and then on that Monday we finally get our results. We are praying that we will find out he is remission and the tumors have responding. Also I am hoping I come back to a job. Thank you so much for your prayers. Knowing that people are prayng really gives me the strenght to face the days a head.

But right now we have Disney to look forward too!!! That is where I am trying to keep my mind!!! The Big Give has been so exciting. WE just can not wait to get home to see all of the great surprises. Thank you for your words tonight I really needed it!

After hours of searching and some very sore muscles and alot of bug bites my ring was finally found. We were all very tired and was about to quit and my sister at the last resort looked in one more place and she found it. I cried and cried again. But boys thought I had finally lost my mind. Mommy you found it so why the tears. I said they were tears of joy.

So thank you for all of your prayers. That gave me strenght as we searched because I knew that alot of people were praying and I knew we would find it. So thank you all so much. Hopefully by this evening I will have my mind together better and post some cute pics.

Hello - I am sorry I have not posted any current pics from the Big Give or about our party. But the boys have summer colds and the church that I grew up in is having a homecoming this weekend and also a reunion for the youth that grew up there. So I have been the group getting all of this together (yes one week from our trip:eek:). It is exciting because alot of these people I have not seen in 25 years. So I am behind on my postings and pictures. I promise I have them and will post this weekend. My computer is slowing down so bad this days I am trouble getting my pictures downloaded. So I am committed to work on that..

The party was more of an informative meeting for my husband and I. I am glad the grandparents came to entertain the boys. We spent most of the time going over a packet of information. We fly out on September 5th at 11:05 am and fly out of Orlando at 3:30 pm on September 11th. I was hoping for an earlier flight but this means we do not have to go down the night before. I mostly disappointed about that because we were hoping to have a meet with Cajunfan.

We are planning on packing tomorrow. I know next week will get busy before I know it so I at least want that behind me.

For all of the Big Give's. I am so sorry I have not posted the pics but it has been so wild around here. The two nights searching for my ring did not help me out and really got me behind. But I have it back on my finger. Thank all of you for your words of encouragement and prayers!!!!! But we have enjoyed the gifts so much!!! Thank you just does not seem to be enough!!But we thank you for the bottom of our hearts.

I had a very wonderful and draining weekend. I had a reunion with some friends that I have not seen in 25 years. It was great. The reunion ended alittle early for me because began not feeling well. He has cough and running nose. He is starting to run a low grade fever. Please pray for good health for all of us. I am not feeling well either.

Here are some pics of the wonderful autograph books. They both really loved them. So a big thank you is coming your way!!!! I hope you felt it. My DW especially liked the train sticker on one ofthe pages. He is going to ask the engineer of the steam locaomotive to sign the page with train sticker. He thought that was so cool. He asked how did she know I was wanting to do this. Both boys are amazed that said they all know what we want to do. So thank you for the books and already giving the boys alittle pixie dust.

The books were wonderful and we thank you so much.

I am so happy the boys liked their autographs books! I enjoyed making them for them and hoped they would like them. Thank you for the photos and the thank yous - they mean a lot!

Thank you for the words. I know that alot of you have went to alot of hard work for my family and I just want to get pictures on quickly to let you know our appreciation for all you have done. It has been great. We started packing last night and the boys have packed their autograph books in their backpacks they said just in case they see someone. I tried to explain that they will have to wait until they are in the parks before they seen someone but they want to be ready. I then agreed because you never know.

Thanks again.

Wowsers! I hate that he has an ear infection but THANKFUL that you found it now. Poor thing would have been miserable flying with that. His antibiotics have plenty of time to work before Saturday so he should be feeling MUCH better!

We are both battling allergies in our house. The weed pollens are horrible this year it seems. Good ole Kentucky air -- gotta love it!! :)

It was a very happy day at our home today! OUr DW was so excited because he was picked the Student of the week at his school. So he was very excited hearing about that. Seeing all of the wonderful Big Gives waiting for him just pushed him over the edge. He was not feeling well and had to go to the doctor so this really cheered him up and added to the excitment of the date.

Thank you Princess Sarhliz. The boys loved it all. With the two hour drive to airport and the time waiting in the airport and the airplane ride itself I am sure with all of the great big give goodies we will not be bored. We love jig saw puzzles so we had to break one of those out. We had great fun. So thank you so much for the wonderful Big Give. It was awesome!

I know what you mean about Cajunfan. She has been a blessing. We were hoping to meet her in person because we thought we were going to have to go down the night before to catch our plane but our flight was later than expected on that Saturday. But we are hoping another time.

We are just about packed. That was my goal on Sunday to get as much done as I could. I knew this week was going to be wild especially with my job. It is alot to get everything done there and be gone a week. I had not planned on my DW getting sick and me not feeling well. But we are all starting to feel better.

I am so excited about all of the new outfits for the boys. I can not wait to dress them for the parks. Have you started packing yet?

Thank you so much Toadstool. The boys really loved their pillowcases. Lucas has this thing he does when he really likes something. He acts like he is fainting. Needless to say when he saw the train he "fainted". He loved that so much. He has a train blanket that he sleeps him and so the pillow case will compliment that well. Alex had been given a cars blanket from the big give and he sleeps with that everynight now (because it so soft) so his pillowcase will compliment that really well. The boys really loved then and they fit just fine. So thank you again.

Yes we are back!! So sad. I have alot of pictures and I mean alot of pictures. I thought I was the pictures Queen but I believe I have been de-throned by Maroo. Boy she even beats me!!! So I believe between her and me we are up to around 500 pictures. That does not even count Photo Pass. I am so extremely tired that my brain is not really working. I took a journal with me and at the end of the day I would record everything that happened that day so I would not forget. I promise that I will have it started ASAP. I can not wait to share it with you. It was magical!!! Alot of pixie dust!
