We have yet to stay at any of the DVC resorts. We joined in Nov, this year we're using our points to cruise and Oct 2003 we will finally stay at our home VWL.
Im thinking ahead and have the feeling that when we are visiting the parks we will most likely only use a studio. However, when staying at Vero or Hilton Head we may move up to a 1 bedroom. And this is for only 3 of us but when not moving in commando mode it will be nice to have the extra space
Anyone else change accommodation size depending on where youre staying?

Our last studio stay was with just 2 of us, and I decided right then and there, we would only stay in 1 bedroom of more after that! A studio only feels like a hotel room. Next January we have a 2 bedroom reserved and there will be 4 of us for a week, but only 2 of us for the second week unless DS and his SO decide to stay longer.

YES!!!!
We are leaving tomorrow and will have a studio at VWL for the first half. There will be DH, DS 12 and 13, and myself. We will be either in the parks or the pool and not spending a whole lot of time in the room.
Then we move onto Vero Beach for the second half and will have a 2 bedroom. We plan on spending the majority of our time at the resort.
LAst year at HH, we had a one bedroom, and this Christmas we will have a studio ot BCV.

While studios have their place and are fine accomodations, I agree with Diane that they are almost just like a large hotel room. We used to have to travel on business a lot, and it is nice to stay somewhere that you can spread out a little and sit somewhere other than the bed or a straight-back chair at a little table.

We have booked a couple of 1BR ressies for our normal summer travel time. But for next Easter week, when points are at their highest, we are booking a studio. We probably will feel very cramped after a couple of 1BR stays but we will only be there for 5 days and know that it will allow us a longer vacation later in the year.
Other than that, we're pretty set on getting a 1BR each time.
Unless we really mess up and get a 2BR one time.....if we ever do that our DD's won't be able to go back to a 1BR!! :D

This past Feb we arrived in a studio for Sat night then switched to 1b (Sun - Thr) then switched to ASsports for 1 night (hated the move to the sports - very cramped) but we want'd to extend our stay just one more night.

According to other posts, the studios at OKW are 376 sq. ft. The studios at BWV, VWL and probably BCV are 359 sq. ft. I'm not sure about VB & HHI. I believe they are similar to OKW. HTH.

I am one who believes that the true beauty of DVC can not be experienced in a studio. Sure, you will still save money on accomodations in the long run, but we bought to enjoy the comfort of the larger units.

I think you'll be fine in a studio, especially if you can get into BWV, VWL or BCV which has the fold out couch. It's really nice to just flop out on the couch and not have to fight over the chairs in the room :).

We have stayed in a studio, a 1BR, and a 2BR in OKW, and a 2BR in the BWVs. While the studio is larger than the average hotel room, with the added benefit of the kitchenette, it is still most like a hotel room. DH and I were just talking about this the other day saying that once you stay in a 1BR, it kind of spoils you for the studio. It's just nice to have a separate bedroom from the living space and a washer/dryer...that makes packing so much easier!!!!!!
