Not really, but I plan to be doing this at or around Signals during the TwiFreak thing. Anyone is welcome to join me.

:lmao: as someone who thinks the twilights books are pure drivel if I was going on the cruise I would be there with you

yes I realize that statement will not go over well :lmao:

Yes! I plan to be a chimney during the cruise and would love to share a smoke with a fellow afficionado. I'm hoping to find some great smokes while in Nassau, but I plan to bring a few of my own as back-up. I learned from visiting Santa Domingo that good cigars at appropriate prices can be difficult to find, even in the Dominican!

I know nothing of Twilight and would like to keep it that way!

I wish that were true of me. Tons of people I know loved the series and as a fan if vampires I looked into them...:sad2: some of the worst writing ever. :rotfl:

I don't want this to turn into a Vampire hunt here, both literally and figuratively. I understand some have taken my post here as an attack or an act of derision. I was simply wanting to let anyone else who would otherwise be twiddling their thumbs while their loved one, friend, or whoever was meeting the other Twi-peeps where I would be. Anyone is welcome to come hang out with me as long as they don't mind the aroma of a fine cigar. I had planned on sitting out under the open skies on the ocean, and enjoying one, as saw this as a perfect opportunity to do so, as my wife tends to turn green if she smells them. So, no more Twilight Bashing, or I'll personally go all Vampire on you.

I agree 100%. The movie was boring, the books don't hold a candle to the Harry Potter series and frankly are like 3rd rate Ann Rice novel ripoffs, which are mediocre to begin with.

The best pop culture with vampires is and will be Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV Series, followed closely by Angel.

I said be nice.

And as far as I'm concerned, all literature is great. If it inspires someone enough to pick it up and read it, or if it takes it's reader to another place or provokes thought, then it's an outstanding contribution to humanity. I think Twilight easily meets these requirements, or it wouldn't have ever been a bestseller and whould never have made it to reprint. Just because it doesn't fit one's own preference, does not exclude a book from greatness. And this is from someone who prefers vampires to rip throats out with their incisors and feast accordingly, not be all sparkly with a feather fetish.

So, once again, be nice.

1) No... all literature is not great. There are a LOT of bad books out there. Twilight is poorly written garbage in my opinion. It has nothing to do with the subject matter but rather with an author who can come up with a good story line but can't actually write it worth anything. George Lucas would be a good example of this... great story, terrible writing.

2) Sales ability does NOT make a book great. It makes it popular. There is a huge difference.

3) If we want to comment we will. It isn't your job or place to tell people to be nice. So don't. It's annoying. You don't like the comments, then don't monitor the thread anymore.

Cake or pie?

The Dis Boards have a reputation for being friendly.

Be nice - or at least be considerate and respectful.

Sorry but telling someone to be nice is a bit rude and disrespectful... and ironic considering the OP called the fan TWIFREAKS. I expressed my opinion that I thought the books were poorly written. I did not insult those who watch the movies or read the books or are fans.

No one needs to then dismiss my comments out of hand and tell me to "be nice" when nothing I said was not nice in the first place. Sorry but people who act like they own a board or thread like that really tick me off, hence my response.

I make it a point to never slam on something that others enjoy reading. I might just say that I didn't enjoy it myself, but I won't slam on it and say that it's poorly written or anything like that.

I am one of these TwiFreaks...and quite proud of it actually. But I find no need to defend my tastes to someone else. Different strokes for different folks...I couldn't stand Buffy the Vampire Slayer personally...

OP...my DH said that he will be partaking of his own Anti-Twilight meet on board too...but he'll probably do it from the balcony of our stateroom! Peace and quiet and no wife to nag him for a little while... :rotfl:

Talk about derailed........Did that train crush anyone else when it jumped the track? Anyway, I've made my apology to the ones this originally upset, and I think it was accepted. I'm still gonna be at signals, and now I hope someone is planning on bringing cake and pie. If you have that at the Twi meet, I might have to be a fan long enough to enjoy a piece. Although, I personally prefer cookies. So is it Cake and Pie, or COOKIES??

Funny you should mention it, I was planning on arranging cake at the Twi Meet. (It is Rob Pattinson's birthday so I though we should celebrate.) Maybe we will have red velvet cake in honor of the occassion. :rolleyes1 But cookies might work also - "Hello. Room Service? Can I have 2 dozen cookies sent to Deck 4 please? " :rotfl2:

We've not read Twighlight or any of the other books so we may be there (I like the smell of cigars but couldn't smoke one ;), so as long as you don't mind us smoking the occasional cigarette!) - I may well read the books at some point but haven't read Harry Potter yet and I've been meaning to read these :rolleyes1

What day and time would this be?

I'm not sure. I just plan to do this when my wife disappears for the Twilight thing. Prehaps one of the ones attending this can post the time info?

And if that is the way you feel, that's cool... I feel that I can speak my mind when I want to, which is why I don't feel bad at all for stating my feelings about the writing capabilities of the author. Heck, one of my favorite movies to watch is starship troopers and it is a god awful movie... I still enjoy it though. I certainly don't have any issue with people who like Twilight at all, which is why I objected to the Twifreaks comment previously.

Really my only gripe was with someone trying to tell me to "be nice".... It really bothered me greatly.

Yes its god awful... but I just can't not watch it... kind of like Rocky Horror Picture show.... bad film, but can't not watch.

There are a few movies I have that with some good, some not so good...

Knights Tale, Band of Brothers (Ok its a miniseries so if I catch the first epidode on the History Channel, there goes my day), Oceans 13, Shawshank Redemption, Pulp Fiction
