Well, our countdown is at exactly 100 days before the start of this year's summer vacation, so I guess I better start my pre trip/dining report!
Before I start let me introduce the cast of characters:
My brother and travelling buddy Tom :surfweb: and I :teacher: live in Austria and we usually travel to WDW once a year to induldge on Disney food and enjoy the parks. Our first language is NOT English, so there will be mistakes!!
Here's us!
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/bsp_1164.jpg
This year it's a little different because we get to go to WDW twice, plus a short trip to London and 2 trips to Disneyland Paris.
Why you ask .... well, because I am celebrating a milestone birthday and some of my dreams really are coming true this year!
:cloud9: 1: For years I wanted to do a Disney cruise, but we never really made up our minds about it. This year we are taking our FIRST Disney cruise and are looking forward to fun at sea pirate: princess: and some yummy Disney cruise food.
DREAM 1 come true!! We're cruising!!
:cloud9: 2: Ever since we go to Disney I was in love with Old Key West. When Disney offered an amazing deal on studios at OKW in 2006, we just :yay: and went for it. We were sprinkled with a lot of pixie dust, because we were upgraded to a one bedroom villa and got hooked.
In 2007 we stayed at OKW in a one bedroom villa again for our once in a lifetime Christmas trip.
This year Tom gave me an early birthday present! Since this is a milestone birthday he invited me to a week at Disney (4/3 deal) and we stayed at the CBR in a pirates room. While there we visited OKW for a meal at Olivia's and talked about how much we wanted to stay there again, but it wasn't in the budget. Nevertheless, we were happy to go to WDW in August on the Free Dining Bounceback and staying at POR.
A week ago I got an email from the British Disney Travel company. They were offering a 42% discount on Deluxe Villas AND FREE dining. We checked the offer, gasped for air and booked a one bedroom villa at OKW for exactly the same as POR would have been.
DREAM 2 come true! We're staying at OKW!!
DREAM 3 come true! Disney is feeding us for FREE!!
DREAM 4 come true! We are going to MNSSHP twice!!
Therefore ......... DREAMS REALLY DO COME TRUE!
So here is what's in the future for us!
May 30 - June 1: A short trip to London/England (the real thing) where we hope to raid the Disney store!
June 11 - June 14: A short trip to Disneyland Paris, where we hope to dine with Chef Remy from Ratatouille. (I am definitely going to post a short report on here)
August 15 starts off our summer vacation.
August 15 - 17 Miami Beach
August 17 - 20 Key West
August 20 - 21 Miami Beach
August 21 - 23 Disney's Pop Century resort with Dining Plan
August 23 - 27 Disney Wonder
August 27 - 31 Universal Orlando

Quick question though. Will Spoodles still be open when you get there? They are closing to open a new restaurant.

Welcome back!! :flower3: Yeah!!!!!!!!!! You're my first reader!!
As for the lenght of time we go - it makes more sense with what the airfare costs in high season ;), LOL. Any reason to stay longer is good enough for me! :lmao:

We hope Spoodles will still be open and keep our fingers crossed for it. Last I read was they are closing in early fall, so we put it to the top of the list and trying to get a reservation for our first night at WDW.

I heard they are closing Spoodles on September 1, so you should be able to go. We will miss it by 2 days, unfortunately...I wish I had the forethought to go because Mediterranean food is our favorite cuisine. Oh well, I guess I will have to go to Cat Cora's place when it opens.

Wow - I loved your last report and this one looks like it might even be better!
I want to do a Disney cruise but I am worried that I'm just not a "cruise" person. Yes, I'd love the food and dining but what else :confused3 would I do on the cruise (I have no interest in snorkeling, scuba diving, or shopping in the islands) and I can't spend days lounging by the pool since I am a red head.
That picture of breakfast at OKW almost makes me want to take a detour there one morning. Those potatoes look good

Thanks for letting me know about the possible date for Spoodles closing. That's a shame if you miss it by just two days!!
We have just "discovered" Spoodles in February and LOVED it! Grrrrr ........ and now Disney is closing it - on the other hand, Cat Cora's sounds pretty interesting too! :thumbsup2

Welcome back! :flower3:
You sound just like me when it comes to cruising :goodvibes! I was rather concerned what to do all day, but then this is only a 4 night cruise and day 1 has a sail away party, day 2 is Nassau and we intend to go "sightseeing" if there is such a thing in Nassau, day 3 will be Castaway Cay, where we most likely will be seen walking the beach and eat, eat, eat and eat with a view. Not so sure about day 4, which is a day at sea, but we travel with a lot of DVDs - just in case :lmao:
Plus, we are travelling with a whole bunch of people I know from another Disney site, so I guess there will be plenty to gossip about :rolleyes1
Hi Dizeeat, I have always love your trip reports. Looking forward to your next adventure :thumbsup2

And since it is a weekend I thought I'd share a few more older food pics with you all.
Those first ones aren't from Disney :scared1: but from UO from our 04 trip. I wasn't into the "take a photo of your food first" thing then, but the desserts we had at Mythos were just devine.
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/144-4428_IMG.jpg
This was called "A taste of chocolate" and that is exactly what it was! It was yummy.
Starting in the upper left hand corner: chocolate ice-cream on a chocolate maccaroon
Moving clockwise: Chocolate Creme Bruleé, chocolate dipped strawberry, and chocolate lava cake. In the middle is a piece of chocolate, wrapped in filo pasty and deep fried!
Heaven on Earth for this chocolate lover.
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/144-4430_IMG.jpg
And here's a much younger, slimmer, slightly "melted" version of me, trying hard to wait until the photo was taken before digging in.
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/144-4429_IMG.jpg
Tom had the Creme Bruleé and a home-made maccaroon. Killer dessert!!
That same year we had our first taste of unofficial free Disney dining! :lmao: We were at AKL when Hurricane Charley hit and were told to stay at our rooms until notified otherwise.
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/145-4548_IMG.jpg
The day before the storm they told us to stock up on supplies, like water and non-perishable food because everything at the hotel would be closed.
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/145-4569_IMG.jpg
We picked up a large Disney pizza shortly before Mara closed. All I can remember about it is, that it was the wrong pizza (not what we had ordered) and that it was increadably greesy!
That same night we got a phone message to go down to Jiko in a special timeframe to pick up our "Emergency food pack" - our first FREE DISNEY DINING experience :rotfl:
Here's what we got!
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/145-4555_IMG.jpg
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/145-4566_IMG.jpg
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/145-4567_IMG.jpg
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/145-4568_IMG.jpg
One of the sandwiches was turkey and the other was ham. They were nothing special, but we thought it was a nice touch to hand them out anyway.
We had never experienced anything like Charley before, so once we were allowed "out" again we went shopping and this is what we found.
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/145-4577_IMG.jpg
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/145-4588_IMG.jpg
Yes, this IS a truck that was turned over by the storm.
The parks were closed for half a day after the storm I think and within 24 hours everything was back to normal.
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/147-4738_IMG.jpg
Even the Musketeers were out and had a blast!
Have a fun weekend!

We're staying at Portofino Bay Hotel. I love shrimp but we have a Bubba Gump here at home. We're pretty sure we're going to book Emeril's Tchoup Chop. Others that look interesting are Latin Quarter, Mama Della's and probably a night of bar hopping/appetizers along City Walk. We're looking at trying Finnegan's and Mytho's for lunch. Now I'm trying to fit the Island Dining Room in there somewhere!

We have stayed at the Portofino before, until they really screwed up on my reservation :lmao:! Today I can laugh about it, but then I swore to never set foot there again.
Emeril's Tchoup Chop is a definite :thumbsup2 ! We were not too impressed with Mama Della's, but then we live close to the border to Italy, so maybe we know real Italian food to well. Try to have an a la carte breakfast at the Island Dining Room - so yummy!

I'm really looking forward to your review, esp the Disney cruise part of it. And how lucky to get to go to MNSSHP twice. :thumbsup2 Sept/Oct is my favorite time to be at WDW. Food and Wine Festival and halloween are the best ! :woohoo:
Thank you! :goodvibes
We have never been able to go that late in the summer, because of school, but this year we are starting really late, and we are so looking forward to MNSSHP! We loved the Christmas parties and went to each and every one of them when we went in December, same goes for the Pirate and Princess Parties! :cool1:
Happy Belated Birthday! :flower3:
I loved Portofino Bay, by the way! I figure I could throw that out there to contribute to the conversation! I like how you can casually say, "I live so close to the border of Italy, I can get real Italian food."
That rocks! :thumbsup2
Thank you! :goodvibes
We stayed at PBH as well, but they really threw me off one year and we have never been back! Check in took more than an hour and then we got the wrong room, went back, had to get in line for another hour and they upgraded the person ahead of me to a bayview! When it was our turn they only had one more "bayview" left, - you had a view when you stood on tiptoe on a chair and looked through the cast iron fencing, LOL!
We had paid for the bayview room 7 months in advance by the way - that was my never again point for PBH!
We love the Royal Pacific, had a room upgrade every time and enjoy the setting, LOL.
Happy Belated Milestone Birthday!
I have read (and loved!) your food reports - starting on the trip reports now...
I Can't wait to hear your views on this trip!
Welcome :flower3: and thank you! I hope you'll like the review on DLRP as well.
I have to join the party! I'm looking forward to reading your reviews!
Welcome! :flower3:
I hope you have a wonderful trip. You and your brother seem to have a great relationship. Safe travels and yummy food.
Thank you! :goodvibes Currently we stay at a residence near DLRP! The weather is nice and we enjoy both DLRP and the FOOD!!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone!
Tom and I have been very busy lately, but at the moment we are enjoying a wonderful time at DLRP!
So I thought I'd do a little live review for a change!
We started our trip yesterday with a drive to the airport in Vienna (it takes longer to go to Vienna than from there to Paris) and flew to Paris on a Skyeurope plane. We touched down in Paris at 1.30pm, picked up our rental and went to the Citea resort. Drive time was a little more than an hour and after that we checked in and went shopping.
At the shopping center we had a good look around at the Disney store and found a few items of interest.
We got back to our resort by 6pm and there was no way to go to a park that day, they closed at 7pm.
Today we started the day by driving to a small boulangerie (baker) in the village.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/IMG_1418.jpg
We picked up some super yummy Baguette. Crusty on the outside and melt in your mouth soft inside. Not Disney food, but worth mentioning!
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/IMG_1416.jpg
We also had some chocolate croissant and Armandise (almond pastry). The chocolate croissant was very buttery and soft with real chocolate inside. The Armandise was filled with marzipan and tasted a lot of rose water. A nice taste, but it gets a bit overpowering with time.
We then went over to the Disneyland Park!
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/IMG_1448.jpg
The castle got new decorations for the new motto they have this year - "Mickey's Magical Party!"
And here are a few photos of Disney food/sweets.

Well, I guess you all already thought that I would never return to my pre-trip thread :rotfl:!
It was very busy with the school year coming to an end and preparing for our summer trip and I never got around to actually finish my DLRP trip, but I will, I promise. So instead of reviewing my summer trip here I started a new thread, which can be found here:
What a little pixie dust can do ........... a dining review with pics (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=33794384#post33794384)
So ......... if you are still interested in our 30 day Florida extravaganza, which included our first Disney cruise on the Disney Wonder and LOTS of Disney food, then I would be happy to see you there!
And I PROMISE, I will come back here and finish my DLRP food review!! :flower3:

That day we had lunch planned at the Rendevous de Stars Restaurant in the Walt Disney Studios Park.
Our main goal was to see Chef Remy!
So this is a buffet and the line was right out the door. Once we were inside people were shuffing their way past us and just trying to sneak in. (Yip, this is Europe!)
Once it was our turn a CM pointed at a table and talked to us in French. We told her that we only spoke English and she still pointed to the table and said "your table".
So what would YOU do? Go to the table and sit down? Well, that was what we intended, but she kind of shouted at us and shuffed us towards another CM, who was collecting the money beforehand!!! :scared1:
I should have been warned then! :rotfl:
So I paid for our meal and she took our drinks order, then we were "sent" to our table. Soon after our drinks were delivered.
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/IMG_1556.jpg
No glass, no straw, just two cans of coke!!
In the meantime Remy had made his appearance, but they just stopped at certain places, so we had to go "hunt" him down.
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/IMG_1551.jpg
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/IMG_1552.jpg
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/IMG_1567.jpg
Once we had taken a few photos I was going to get some of the food!
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/IMG_1572.jpg
Starting with the "white stuff" and going clockwise. The white stuff was potato salad - icy cold and as tasteless as can be. Ratatuille - cold too, not very good.
Olives, straight out of a glass, ham - well, just ham and some pate that must have been sitting there for quite a while because it was dry and lukewarm. The mushrooms came straight out of can as well - blah!!!
So, we took a spoonful of everything and that was it.
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/IMG_1573.jpg
Second plate - we were sharing these! Pasta salad - overcooked tasteless pasta :sad2: couscous, now that was yummy and we ate every little cernel of it. Tomatoes with little taste and creamy coleslaw, that was really yummy. The Orzo salad was just gross! Overcooked and no taste at all. The chickpea salad was good though!
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/IMG_1575.jpg
Our first hot plate. Turkey scewers - must have been real old turkey who probable committed suicide, because I have never before had such tough turkey! Not really warm! :sad2: A little more Ratatuille, hot this time and with the addition of a little salt it was even edable. Paella - now that was horrible stuff. The shrimp was HARD and tough - the mussels all shrunk! And the rice was just overcooked mush with lots of Curcuma.
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/IMG_1576.jpg
Another plate of hot food! We both liked the potatoes, even though they were a tad greasy. The fish actually tasted off and we did not eat more than a tiny bite. Pickled veggies - seemed to be out of a jar and white rice.
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/IMG_1577.jpg
Penne and meatball - okay, not more and boeuf bourguignon. Now that was really nice with the meat being so soft it could be cut with a fork!
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/IMG_1578.jpg
Pizza, pre made, but one of the highlights out of those offerings! :lmao: Chicken wings - these were horrible. Chicken nuggets - well, McDs are haute cuisine, compored to these! Poor kids!!!
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/IMG_1579.jpg
Desserts - ALL of these were really yummy, so at least we could fill up on something! :rotfl2:
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/IMG_1584.jpg
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/Dreams/IMG_1587.jpg
Dear Remy - if this is the best you can do, I would rather be fed by a Mouse!

Oh no!!! I have to say...NONE of that food even looked appetising:sick: Please, please, please tell me it's gets better at DLRP!:sad2: At least the sugar didn't disappoint, but still....sheesh!:headache: To pay those prices and not have anything be decent besides dessert is such a shame. Remy did look pretty cute tho...that's a plus. Can't wait to read more, and hopefully things got better for you!
