 :) Could anyone suggest a nice hotel which is close to MCO? (Orlando Int'l Airport). Hubby and I are flying in late the night before our cruise and are looking for a nice place to stay. We have heard wonderful things about the Hyatt at the terminal, however they are asking $159.00. If anyone has any suggestions, we would be greatly appreciative.
Thanks!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc

I suggest getting a room through Hotwire or Priceline. Even though you will not know which hotel it is beforehand, you can specify the MCO area. We cruise Disney a lot and have done it that way many times. We typically only pay between $25 and $28, which includes a free shuttle and often free breakfast too. Hotels they've put us at include the Amerisuites, the Renaissance, and La Quinta. All of those have been within walking distance of dining (the Amerisuites shuttle driver also offered to drive us to a restaurant if we wanted). Of course, there is no DCL cruise bus at the remote hotels (we use Happy Limo so that isn't a problem for us).

We are staying at the Hyatt. I booked it on their web site. Got the internet rate of 83.00.

Try the Hyatt on expedia.com. They claim to have a specially rate exclusive to Expedia... I just tried for a date in September, and I did get a better rate with Expedia than I did directly through Hyatt's site.

I tried the Hyatt on Expedia for the night I needed and there's no rooms left. Can anyone suggest another hotel near the airport with a fun pool for the kids?
Thanks!

We are staying at the Sheraton right by the airport for 69.00$ a night w/the entertainment rate. They have a free shuttle from the airport to the hotel and then we booked with ******** to get us to the DCL.

We took Barb's advice and got the Amerisuites for 39.00. They have a free breakfast buffet and bigger rooms. They have a pool so it sounds good to me.Free shuttle too. We are going to go with Happy Limo too I think. Ann

I also booked through Priceline and got the AmeriSuites for $40 the night we fly in and the Renaissance for the night prior to departure for $40 as well. Good luck.

La Quinta through Priceline!!!!! We paid $24 for La Quinta, it was super clean and super friendly. The pool area was very relaxing, and the best part was the free shuttle service and the free breakfast. I was more than pleased with the hotel, and the price!! I will only use Priceline from now on!! Good Luck, Sue

Wow - those are great hotwire and priceline rates!!
After reading this thread earlier today, I got on hotwire and was about to book for our December cruise, but there are 3 of us, and the rates are only guaranteed for 2. Got on expedia to see options - - the Hyatt for our night is $214 - - OUCH!
Finally booked Fairfiled Inn through the Marriott page. AAA rate is $55/ night, including breakfast for 3. Free airport shuttle. Not as cheap as hotwire, but still a good deal and there will be no surprise charges.

 :earsgirl: Thanks to all of your responses!!! We are boarding the Disney Wonder in December and can't wait!!! This is our $99.00 return cruise after sailing January 2002. Barb and others, I will look into Priceline and Hotwire as the Hyatt website was asking an astronomical price!! As a newbie to this forum, how does Priceline work? Further, when do you find out which hotel you will be staying at if they accept your bid?? Sorry so many questions, just a little excited!!:) :)
Have a great evening and Happy Cruising.

Yes, on Priceline you find out the name and address of the hotel when they notify you that your price has been accepted. Go to Hotwire first to get a price range (they will give you prices and amenities, although not hotel names, on Hotwire...we can always tell which one is the Amerisuites because of the 'suite" amenities).
I've noticed that one Priceline, when I bid way before our trip we end up at LaQuinta, and when it's closer, it's another place. We've gotten the Renaissance through them for $28, which really surprised me because when we got there, we were told that the hotel was fully booked (and everyone else was paying lots more than us!). I guess they underestimated the demand.

We used Priceline to book a stay at Amersuites last month. Amersuites was very convenient (free airport shuttle, free breakfast, nice pool, big rooms!) Only $34

If you want to price the airport Hyatt, be sure to click on their SPECIALS button on their website. One special listed is the Special Internet Rate so click on "book this one" to get a better rate quote. If you skip these steps, the Special Internet Rate does not show up. Which I think is weird, since you are checking for rates on the internet!!
