Day 8 – African Wednesday – Busch Gardens & Jiko
Another early start was needed today to try and get to Busch Gardens for opening; luckily it didn’t open until 10 so we didn’t have to get up stupidly early. We left around 8.30 and went via McDonalds for a quick breakfast (for a change!) :lmao:
It took just over an hour to drive down to Tampa, and we got to the park at just about 10 (perfect planning!) There were only about 50 cars here before us too (I love September, so few people! :cool1: )
We walked in and headed straight over to Egypt to try out Montu *In case you haven't been to Bush Gardens, each area or land is named after a place in Africa, so when I say we walked to Egypt we walked to the Egypt part of Busch Gardens - not the country! ;) * This ride looked pretty scary and as there was no queue we went on the very front.

This ride was amazing! Such a smooth roller coaster, so good we decided to go straight on it again! It does look really scary but when you’re on it it’s just so much fun – if you come to Busch Gardens you have to go on this ride (in fact I think its been voted one of the top 5 roller coasters in the world)
After this we wandered around the park, through the bird gardens and over to Stanleyville to have a go on Sheikra. Now this ride is scary! :scared1:

It looks like oblivion at Alton towers but 100 times worse! I hate these kind of rides, they really scare me, and when we stood at the bottom of Sheikra I was seriously thinking about not going on it! But I braved it and got in the queue. When we sat in the seats I was so nervous – more so than I was at the California Grill!
It was actually a really fun ride, and we both really enjoyed it – despite dreading it!
After that adrenaline rush we grabbed some lunch and shared a chicken fajita wrap and fries, and then wandered around the park some more, and saw the elephants being fed and then saw the rhinos.

Then we did the rhino rally – which is very similar to Kilimanjaro safari at AK. It was good fun, although definitely not as good as Kilimanjaro.
We wandered around the grounds (which were really pretty) taking a few pics:

We then went to the new area ‘Jungala’ which is kind of a giant kid’s playground with some cool interactive animals experiences there.
We met the orang-utans (I love these animals so much, they are so cute!)

Then went to see the white tigers, which were amazing :) these are one of my favourite animals in the world
http://i332.photobucket.com/albums/m334/raph_b/DSC03025.jpg
Next up was my favourite ride of the day - the old school ‘Gwazi’, it’s a wooden ‘rickety’ type rollercoaster, but it was so much fun! Em wasn’t overly keen though as she claims to have got whiplash from it! :rotfl2:
The other ‘big’ ride – Kumba, was closed today :(
http://i332.photobucket.com/albums/m334/raph_b/DSC03066.jpg
We kept passing these birds and Em loved their 'hair' :lmao:
We finished the day off by watching the ‘Katonga ‘ show, which is a musical based on African tribal stories and was absolutely brilliant :thumbsup2
Overall Busch gardens was a great day out, some great rides and attractions, but it was more like Alton Towers than the Disney and Universal parks we were getting accustomed too.
We then left Busch Gardens and headed for Jiko (Now this is the part of the day I was really looking forward too - and I'm sure my fellow food porn fans are too!):banana::banana:
