So what are your thoughts on McDonalds fries being taken out of the park?
I miss them a lot. It became a tradition to get McDonalds fries at Mrs.Potts or at Animal Kingdom.

I haven't been since they took them out, so I guess I can't miss them yet, but I am disappointed to hear they took them out. I did enjoy Petrifries!

In 17 days we'll be making our first trip since they've taken McDonald's fries away. My DW was very upset to hear about this. As much as we love the Disney food, it was nice to look forward to that one day where we'd pickup some McD's fries at AK. It's not going to ruin our trip, but we will notice their absence.

Are they gone from all the parks? We love to use up snack credits on them in MK on our last day. It was nice to get good, hot fries... something the CS places don't provide.

When did they take the fries out of the park? Why did they decide to take the fries out?

I had no idea they took them out either. Our last trip was May 2008 and they had fries in a few different places that we noticed.
When did they take them out? I could have sworn I saw them at AK last when I was there in March.

McDonald's fries are so much better then Disney fries. I'll miss them, the fries were one of the few things we still got food wise while at Disney. Disney priced as out awhile back so we just eat before/after we get to the parks, it's just too expensive. If we weren't local and we would've been priced out of Disney all together years ago.

Contract was up I think and they didn't renew? Don't quote me on that, but I know all the McDonalds stuff is gone from Disneyland, too.
I'm happy to see them gone, personally. They were unnecessary, and I agree that "McDonalds is everybwhere, I don't need it in the parks".
Yeah, Disney fries are no comparison to how good McD fries are, but I won't miss them.

I'm personally very happy they're not in the parks anymore. Now I don't have to worry about any of the fries I eat at the parks containing beef flavoring. :thumbsup2

I agree completely. When we go to Disney I never get the fries anyways so it is really not a big deal to me. Also, we have McD's all over the place where we live so not having them in the parks is not going to make my vacations less magical.

What!! Had no idea they were being taken away. :guilty: My husband and I always say that they taste better at WDW, especially at petrifries at AK. That was our traditional snack at AK. :sad1:

Well, that news will please my husband at least. He's very worried about eating heathily while we're away. To be honest, I don't mind either way, but I was looking forward to having a 'proper' McDonalds while in Disney! Is it just the fries that have gone, or has the McDonalds in DTD closed too?

Only all the park stuff has gone away, the DTD location is still there, and it's a full McDonalds.
I think it was a park contract that ended. (All the McD's stuff in Disneyland closed, too).

I get McDonald's fries one time when we are in Disney and that's the only time I let myself eat them. I guess it's better for me that they are gone, but I'll miss them!

Thanks for the confirmation! :thumbsup2
I thought that's what I was but I couldn't remember when I'd last heard about it.

LOL - the only time I ever eat McDonald's fries is at Disney ... there are too many good places to eat outside the World to bother with McD, but in the parks those fries were better than most of the junk that Disney slops out - go figure :confused3

I don't normally eat McDs, it's a treat when I'm feeling lazy (or hungover... best hangover cure ever!) But the difference in the food in America to what they serve over here.... Ah well, least I can still go to DTD!

You have GOT to be kidding me!! I've never eaten them before in Disney, but I was planning to next week...
The only thing I've craved the entire time I've been pregnant is McDonalds french fries. It's so bad that I even buy them on the way home, eat them, hide the evidence, and guilt-trip DH into picking me some up on HIS way home.:rotfl:
Last week he remarked, "Well, at least you will still be able to get your french fries everyday while on vacation.!!!"
I also just got the devastating news that the McDonald's right off Osceola Parkway is going to be closed while I'm in WDW.
That's it.. I'm cancelling!
Not seriously. But I do see a lot of trips to DTD in my future...:rolleyes1

Whoa... wait a minute. I asked about some "new construction" over on the walkway between Frontierland and Fantasyland when we were on our January 2009 trip. A CM told us that the McDonald's fries were so popular that they needed to put in a new fry stand.
Now, it was up and running when we were there in March, but I wonder what ended up being sold there? :confused3
We don't eat the McDs fries while we are at WDW either so I didn't bother to check.

Well, I thought I would miss them, and voted as such, even though I haven't eaten any in a really long time. But I just found out that they still have beef products in them-- which is a no-go for me as a vegan (and don't worry, I haven't eaten any since becoming a vegan).
So, yeah, guess I would be missing them either way, at least this way I don't have to smell them! :P

I will miss the McDonald's fries, as a good, quick snack. We'd get them to share as we walk around AK to tie us over till later.

I didn't eat either the McDonalds fries or the Disney fries, so it doesn't make a whole lot of difference to me. I do however think that McDonalds fries are the only fries I enjoy more without adding gravy than with adding it. :goodvibes

All of my politics regarding the McDonalds corporation aside (and there are LOTS) I thought mentioning something about the history of the Disney and McDonalds partnership might be fitting now that some of it (albeit not ALL of it as was pointed out) is coming to an end
I'm using this link not specifically because of the source but because it seems to be the most detailed telling of the story I could find easily accessible on the internet (http://jimhillmedia.com/blogs/jim_hill/archive/2002/12/18/234.aspx)
interesting huh?
