This is our second stay at BWV but "home" is SSR. I have to say, I miss SSR. I miss how quiet and calm it is at SSR. I miss the rooms and layout of the bathrooms, the serene colors and even the clothesline in the shower. I have to say that I love BWV for the location, but that is it. It seems like the walls are paper thin! I can hear everything that goes on in the rooms around me and I never remember in all my stays at SSR hearing people. Anyway, I am just putting my thoughts down on a thread.......kind of wishing that my BWV waitlist had never come through.

Hey at least you know not to do that again. Plenty of us want the BWV waitlist as small as possible.

It makes a difference on noise at BWV because of where the lock-off door is at - smack in the middle of the living area. When BCV and SSR were built, Disney started putting the lock-off doors up near the entrance so it really helped cut down on noise. We used to own at BWV and that was one of our biggest negatives for BWV.

I feel the same way, this June we are doing BWV instead of OKW. It's makes more sense for us to stay at BWV because we are doing the Star Wars Week-end and Epcot, therefore for the convenience alone it's the place to be. With that said, I will miss OKW terribly, I prefer the quiet of OKW and being a little removed from it all. I can understand, however, how some people including the kids, love to be in the thick of things and that's where BWV rules!
The kids wanted the Boardwalk so this time they won, next Oct it's OKW!

We are staying at BCV for the second year in a row.. very hard not to stay in the EPCOT area now that we have a taste of it.. is it easier to get BCV than BWV? We were able to get it 2 years in a row in summer mos.. and our home is AKV..

But isn't it nice to have SSR to miss?
We tend to move around amongst the resorts, but do feel we are really coming home when we arrive at SSR. That, I think, is the reason we tend to do split stays. We stay at BWV for a number of days, enjoy EPCOT and everything else available there....and then move to a quieter resort for the last part of the vacation. We feel like we have enjoyed two vacations and appreciate the differences of each resort.

I can relate. BWV is our least favorite resort, and we've stayed at them all more than once.

That's for sure!
On my last trip, when I moved from BWV to SSR, I was really missing BWV.

We just got back from 8 days at BWV and we felt the same way, we missed SSR, the boardwalk was nice but got old after a few nights its the same thing over and over, being close to Epcot is a plus but thats about it. DO NOT eat a the ESPN club, I got food poisoning there and spent the last few days stuck in the room, Spoodles was pretty good though just stay away from the ESPN club.

We LOVE BWV....We like being on the BW close to EPCOT and DHS. Plus all the restuarants right there. And just being able to walk around the area after everything quiets down just really enjoy it. Shawnpirate:

I'm sorry! We spent 6 nights at BWV in April and I was so excited about the trip. I was thrilled when they had availability 7 months out for spring break. Once there, it was just kind of "eh" for us. I discovered that I actually prefer OKW to BWV ... which is good for me b/c it's easier to book OKW and uses fewer points. I'm glad I tried BWV and you can't beat walking to Epcot for dinner or the serene walkway along to water to DHS ... but, I discovered that I actually like getting away from all the action in the evenings.
We are trying AKV next trip and I'm excited about that. I think I might like the remote location and I do enjoy VWL.

It's fun to try all the resorts so you can have a favorite.

Since I have owned DVC, I have always stayed 'home' at SSR and I love it. I like the quiet atmosphere because if I want to go to bed at 9 p.m. I don't have to worry about fireworks or kids running the hallways... Since I haven't really stayed at any of the other DVCs, I'm going on my experience at AS Sports but even that resort was fun (outside the noise).:rotfl:

Have you walked down to the lobby to get a newspaper? How long did it take compared to SSR?

I love SSR. It is my favorite resort to stroll around. Half of my points are at SSR, the rest are split between AKL and BLT. That said, DH loves BWV. We do a lot of split stays in my family.

Not to get a paper but we have been to the lobby for other things. It took about 5 minutes to get to the lobby from our room.

Well, they say there is a pot for every cover. BWV is my home resort and the only place I stay.
I lead a quiet life at home and love the excitement of the Boardwalk, along with the location and the view.
But then, I don't go to Disney to relax. I turn into a five year old and run myself, and anyone with me, ragged.
I try to go when the parks will be the least crowded, so maybe the noise hasn't been an issue because the resort isn't full? Or maybe I am just too tired to hear it.
Sorry that BWV isn't your cup of tea, but glad you love your home resort. That makes it so great to have the 11 month benefit.

Now that's funny! :rotfl2:
I guess you could say Disney brings out the child in you and it's probably the only place that you could get away with it! My son loves OKW but sometimes he and his friends/cousins just need the BWV! It's a lot of fun and there are constant activities, it's a different vibe and for a short time I enjoy it too!

I'm sorry to hear you are longing for SSR. When we couldn't get BWV 2 yrs ago we stayed at OKW. We like OKW but every time I passed BWV on the bus I would just sigh.
BWV brings back some memories for me when I would go to Atlantic City as a child to visit grandparents. They had a wrap around porch with rocking chairs and every trip I must sit there and relax a little. Brings back some really cozy feelings. And you can't beat the location with a stick.
I want to try other resorts too like AKV, BCV, and VWL but I can't bring myself to do it.

I love them both; each for their own distinct qualities.
At SSR we have the "total relaxing vacation" that we sometimes need badly, plus the closeness to DTD. :cloud9:
At BW we have the closeness of the parks and restaurants minus the transportation issues we "sometimes" experience at SSR. ;)

We'd get along fine at WDW. My sister calls me "Hitler" when I get the family marching quickly in the morning to get to EMH! My niece says she gets no rest with me at Disney. She's 10 I"m 51! :lmao:

I've got to say, sometimes a resort just fits you and your style, making everything else pales by comparison. We love BCV. A few weeks ago we stayed at OKW and all I could focus on was the negative. I know we were lucky to get a ressie anywhere because we booked a spring break trip which for us was the week after Easter Sunday at about 2-1/2 months out. And although I appreciated even being there, and my DD10 and Dniece12 loved the OKW room and thought it was an adventure staying somewhere new, DH and I wanted to be at BCV. We tried not to express any negative thoughts to them, but the only time I believed the "Welcome Home" greeting was when we pulled into the BC for breakfast at Cape May Cafe.
Even though BWV is just across the lake, I don't like it there either. I like BCV.
