I am studying for the SAT, and I share my cousin's opinion-"SAT is short for SATAN" :lmao: I hate that zillion-mile thick book...

I feel your pain.

I am helping Lauren study for the ACT.

I think I took a class to prepare for the ACT.

It's not my spelling, it's my typing. :)

Well...this may sound strange...but she really doesn't get as much choice. She will probably stay close to home since this is where all of her care is...

She also has to basically go where they have an opening for disability housing. Housing will probably make the decision for her.

But..she is also looking into going to Seminary. So...who knows?

I always correct spelling in quoted posts...if I see it. I just can't stand to have the text underlined in red. OCD. I know.

Ok that's pretty funny

Always some good laughs over this way...

Speaking of which...

My girls are telling me I have to tell you another little incident that happened about 10 years ago. I promise, there will be more pre-trip planning stuff coming very soon, but I need the weekend to re-group and think about where we're going with this first.

Meanwhile sit back and enjoy...

My dad is one of those rare people with a knack for making people feel comfortable and welcome! He is full of great stories and trivia, and loves to talk and hang out over a beer or cup of tea- whichever the situation requires.

He is also a retired anesthesiologist. He LOVED his job, saying it was both challenging and never routine. Generally, he got along with all the OR staff and surgeons, but a few actually did make his poop list. The arrogant, "I don't need you, or anyone else" types mostly.

One day, he happened to be working with one of these "not so high on his E-ticket list" of surgeons, who happened to be doing a bowel resection. Not being in the know as far as what the heck that means, I'll just quote him, and tell you it was a bowel resection. I guess it probably amounts to a fair amount of cutting here and there, and probably involves a bit of sewing up as well.

All of a sudden toward the end of the procedure, the room got really quiet, and people started looking at each other with that nervous, furtive sort of glance, which meant, "did you fart?" There were about 10 people either in the OR, or who were coming and going, and each one certainly had the same thing going on in their wondering little minds. But the surgeon had something far more alarming going on in his. Either someone farted, or he had just nicked the bowel and had to find his mistake. So he asked, "If someone just farted, they need to fess up right now!"

Do you really think someone is going to fess a fart with 10 other people standing around. Ummm, no.

Dad sat there with quite a grin on his masked face for about 1/2 an hour while the surgeon searched in vain for a tear that was never there.

Well, it's weekend time, so I'll wish you all a very pleasant one, if I don't talk to you before it's over. Meantime, many Disney dreams and Magical family moments!!

a few years ago I was in walmart with my mom and younger brother. My mom is the prim and proper type who never passes gas and would die before admiting to it. My brother is the exact opposite.

The 3 of us were standing in an aisle when suddenly there was a semi loud "phttt".

I knew it had to be my brother, but I just had to tease my mom.

So, somewhat loudly I said "ewww, MOM!"

Instead of laughing and saying "yeah, right!" she turned bright red and scurried away.

I looked at my brother and he was bent over going in hysterics...he finally managed to get ahold of himself long enough to tell me that it had been Mom!

We were laughing so hard we nearly had to leave the store.

I felt bad because I had embarassed her, but oh it was so funny.

And I really mean that!! It is always very, very fun to get new readers to add to the zany fun we have here. As the weeks and months go by we'll be playing some fun games, needing lots of your help, as we navigate the mine-fields of Disney planning (ie. lack of park hours and ADR system guesswork ), and just generally pass the time together as a group of folks who loves all things Disney (and a whole lot more).

We hope you stop by often! Most of the action seems to happen in the evenings around 8:00-10:00 Pacific Time, but we do get some VERY late nighters from the righthand side of the map too. Meantime, enjoy! :dance3:

Good Moooooooooooooorning Blank-A-Stan.....

A new enemy has surfaced this weekend causing great distress among the ranks. Well, 2, actually...

The newest "7 Family" Enemy is the neighborhood sewer system. EWWWWW!!! Okay, so the city just went through and finished paving our road, and we're pretty sure they didn't put a manhole cover over a critical hole; remember to properly minefield the city, manholes are only optional. The soldiers themselves frequently remove them to finance their own spoils of war around here, like more vodka or a new cell phone. So, with asphalt plugging up the street, the manhole itself is brim full!! I'll leave that to you own imaginations. Somewhere, there is an aromatic ooze bomb sliming out somewhere, and for once, we are thankful it is NOT onto our territory!!! Sadly, someone in our neighborhood (the lowest in elevation) is bearing the brunt of this. So, now we will have to spend the day calling, and calling, and calling, and calling (you get the idea) for someone with a pooper pumper truck to suck out this most incredibly disgusting of enemy devices of warfare!!

I don't know about your weekends, but mine was actually pretty productive, and sewage wasn't the only thing that was stinking up the place. My househelper ( you do know you all have househelpers too, right, but they come in the form of pre-ground meat (the butcher), fast food resaurant workers, clothes dryers, vacuum cleaners, etc...) came home with a 10 pound head of Chinese cabbage. I only needed about 1 pound for using in a stir fry. :confused3 So, what's a good soldier to do with 10 pounds of Chinese cabbage- ummm, preserve it, of course. Do you know what preserved Chinese or "Napa" cabbage is called? Kim Chee!!! Yep, The Major General (me) spent a while chopping and spicing 10 pounds of cabbage to be left to fermenting and stinking up the house for the weekend. Ever smelled fermenting KimChee. I had a roommate at UC Irvine one year, and we made her get her own fridge cuz her KimChee stunk so bad. Funny how something that smells so vile can actually taste ok. :confused3

Hope they get the sewage cleaned out soon, I'm the only one who eats in these parts. :lmao:

Now, onto pre-trip planning...

I spent the rest of the weekend trying to decide where we're going to go next with our fun here. I also worked on a few little gifty type items, but can't share those, since they will be given to a certain someone who lurks around here sometimes. :rolleyes1 But, if we could make her promise to not look here for a couple of days, then I could....

Also had a night (yes, practically a whole night of insomnia) and wisely used it to refine the plans a bit. Things are certainly coming together nicely there.

Now, onto more pressing issues. An army engaged in a conflict certainly feels compelled to scout certain things out. This usually the responsibility of those in command, and might include a few of the following: the weaponry of the enemy force, possible strongholds of the opposition, transportation lines and methods, secret maneuvers, communication tactics, and a host of others. A General must carefully observe and discover the nuances that makes up his enemy (oops, typed enema there at first, aren't you glad I fixed that?- I guess that's on my brain, since that's what our manhole needs right now).

By now, you have guessed that at this point, I'll say that the TC3 is much in the same situation. In order to fully enjoy their conquered territory they will have to spend much time figuring out what their first priorities are in their newly occupied land of freedom. What is important to tackle first? What have they been waiting to see/ do/ enjoy most? Let's spend a while going over our lists of our TOP 10 Must see's/do's to while away the weeks. WEEKS?! WEEKS? you say? Well, remember we are hoping that maroo will post her's as well! And there are several parks, and (for me) 3 resorts, and DTD even too. Speaking of Downtown Disney, I want to start there. It's by tradition the first place I start my trip at. I love it there, and have yet to even see most of it. So, here it goes; my list of Must do's for DTD:

1) Eat somewhere there (sorry, I'm reserving the name for future game fun- remember that, it will help you later.)

2) Shop at Basin- Thanks, TK for that little gem of info.

3) Get a special souvenir at Once Upon a Toy Story (specifics also reserved for future installment)

4) Get a choco covered Rice Krispy Treat at Goofy's

5) Pick up some Legos for my kiddos

6) Take the boat over there from POR!

7) Wander through the 2/3 of it I haven't seen yet (ie, the defunct PI area)

8) Browse around in the Christmas and Kitchen and Arribas Bros. shops

9) Stay out of World of Disney (sorry all you mega shoppers, I just don't care for this one :flower3:)

10) Sample SOMETHING from Ghiradellis

11) *** Bonus*** Find a few Hidden Mickeys and grab some photos!

Well, did I miss anything?? Are there things you like to do that I've missed?? I know, I really should go into WoD, but I think this is a pretty long list, and I'd rather see new things. (Most of our time was eaten up in there last time)

Maroo?? Do you like DTD? Any favorites there??

that's nice

I'm glad you had a busy weekend... although I wish you didn't have to deal with sewers. :sad2: At least it isn't in your house!!

We checked out TrenD in DTD and they had a lot of clothes and other items that I haven't seen anywhere else. There are so many picture opportunities in DTD... have some fun with them!

Are you into the PINS? Check out the pin store. Even if you don't buy any, it is cool to see all the different pins.

I can't imagine a 10lb cabbage! or the stink that could cause if eaten by my boys.

Kimchee is good. The cabbage was so big that Little Sis took a sharpie and drew a face on it!! :rotfl: I like legos. Yep, Mesa Court... that was me. But only for 2 quarters. There were 4 of us women in that apt. One Chinese gal, one Philipino, one Korean and me. I was quite outnumbered by the Asian domination- and loved it. Can you imagine the splendor of our refer?? (fridge, I mean, although, I can't guarantee there was not any of the other kind too).

I was there most of 1986, but moved out into an apt. for the spring/summer to work at Disney. Fun times that was!

Hmmm . . . . your list is quite comprehensive but may I suggest one small addition? You're on the dining plan, right? If you are, I think you should make a point to use at least one CS credit at Wolfgang Puck Express. We have eaten there several times on the dining plan and it is BY FAR the best CS food in all of WDW and the best value. HUGE portions, enough for leftovers or 2 adults to easily split a meal, and super-duper DELICIOUS!

I was a hostess in the Blue Bayou!! BEST. JOB. EVER!!! I loved it. Except on the night when my register came up like $100 short!!! :scared1: They made me stay hours, and hours counting and recounting, and looking at the tape. I was constantly pushing wrong buttons on the machine, and was known to lock it up completely on occasion!! :lmao::confused3 Ah, well, all good things had to come to an end and I moved back to Arizona to finish up my El. Ed. degree.

I remember having to go to the Frontierland management offices on errands once in a while. There was one Nazi N.O. Square manager who saw me one time in my blue southern belle costume and reamed me for being in Adv/ Front., on an errand that HER superior sent me on. :rotfl2:

Another time, I went to work without a bra on. Got busted (oops, there's a nice one) for that big time. Costuming is a long way away, and you can bet I got sent there!! :lmao:

The operative word there is NEAR-ISH. MS, is a long way off, I believer- like 10 hours?? I hope you'll always be close by!!

It is about 10 hours from KY. But we could always meet in Nashville! ;)

Ooh you are MEAN, Winkers!:lmao:

Maroo, I wanted to tell you that I clicked on your link in your siggie to go back and read about Lauren's wish trip. OH MY GOSH you kept me in tears. I'm not quite finished yet, but I just wanted to tell you how much it moved me. I'd never read about a wish trip before. Lauren is a really special person - and so are you!

Happy Halloween everyone!

You are so sweet. I am glad you got to read that report - it was so much fun to write!

If you enjoyed that one...you gotta check out the Magical trip report - link below with the hearts on it.

Sewage....EWE!

You talkin' about me.....:rolleyes1
I would never look!

Just tell me when to stop and I will stay away! And what pages to avoid. I won't peek.

Ok...so top 10 thinks at DTD....Hmm.....I don't even think I have 10 things...?? How about 5? Ok - 6!

1. Eat at the super secret location... which I can't even think of right now. You guys do realize this is 4 trips away for me. :confused3 Dec. Jan. March then Sept. (yes, Tim won that bet!)

2. Eat something yummy at the Ghiradellis store.

3. Shop in the Christmas Store!

4. Drag Liesa to the World of Disney. :cool2: (Who can go to DTD and NOT go into the World of Disney! Sheesh!) :flower3:

5. I can totally go for taking a boat from the POR! That will be fun (totally stole that one from Liesa!)

6. Do the other 5 things on Liesa's list! :)

My goodness...what an, uh, aromatic weekend you have had.

I have to admit. A 10 pound cabbage. I'm scared to think of how big that really is. Evan was almost 10 pounds when he was born. You had a cabbage the size of a 2 month old. EEW! I'd have found rabbits to feed. Or something. Something that was not KimChee and did not stink up my house. I'll eat cabbage, especially braised but the smell in my house, no way.

You worked at the Blue Bayou????????????? My dream college job. Tossing pizzas in the air was cool but the Blue Bayou?

Wow, I have a date night with my hubby and 2 pages ensue!

As for DTD, I have to second trying the creme brulee at Fulton's. I had a different flavor the last time I was there, maybe key lime? But either way, it was delicious. And so are the crab claws! :thumbsup2

As for Wolfgang's, it was pretty good, but I would really like to try Earl of Sandwich. Last time we were in DTD, I tried to run in there for lunch on a Saturday, but the line was almost out the door! So that's why we went to Wolfgang Puck's.

I would have immediately run out and bought some- impulsive, I know. But, when a craving strikes, well, something just has to be done!

One of the benefits of living in an army town is that there is an abundance of Korean food. One of my favorite little hole in the wall places has a lunch tray with Bulgogi, yakimando white rice and khim chee. (I probablly mispelled every single one of those.) It is MMMMMMMMMMMMM TASTY!

I love everything about ethnic food, but Korean is just pretty high up on the pretty decent food list! I love eating Korean style, on the floor, with chopsticks. They bring out about a zillion little dishes of various salads, big bowls of rice, (Kimchee is mandatory), and YES!!!!! my hands down favorite is bulgogi!!

The country I live in is the one in which Stalin relocated any Koreans that were living on the Soviet side of the border. He didn't want any of them to cause any problems or be the source of any uprising. A second and more practical reason for relocating them all (this was in about the 20's) was so that they could head up the rice production, for which our region is quite well known. Imagine that!!!! Growing rice in the middle of the desert!! :scared1:

Anyway, although I think the locals here have mogated somewhat away from the authentic, traditional Korean food, one thing has not changed- Kim Chee!

doesn't everything taste better deep fried?

Cherie, God put fat in food to make it TASTE BETTER!!! Let's face it- oatmeal vs. bacon... there isn't much thought that would have to occur here!! Bacon would win out every time. Unless you're weird... go ahead... I dare anyone to admit they would choose oatmeal...

I unfortunately concur.

and as much as we alll really DO like bacon, it does have its ways of showing up again... around the middle, the derrier area, arm flab, you name it. It likes to share the wealth.

Busy, busy, busy around here!

I would work again at Disney if I could! Maybe when I'm 80?? :confused3

OK, Fultons is sounding better and better. Shannn just posted an amazing review on her Trippie- everything looked great- but esp.the brulee'. Is it a place that you could pop in for dessert, and not feel weird or out of place??

I've tried EoS, but not WGPE yet. Both are or look great! I want someplace that we can split and not be hungry. I hoping whatever we do here can go for 2 people, so we can save another credit for later on during MK PM EMH.

Sorry for your smelly weekend.

Before we had gone, we purchased gift cards for the kids, and they each knew exactly how much they had to spend. All of them knew that they didn't want anything out of there, so we didn't bother going, but rather headed over the the Lego store and spent literally about 2 hours there. If you know there is something specific then I'd say make sure you hit it up, but I'm so much NOT a browser, or shopper really for that matter. So, to me looking at a bunch of plastic stuff from China isn't high on my list.

Ragardless, DTD is packed full of great photo opportunities, great snack places and all that!! You'll really like it!

Yeah, I knew I was opening myself up for a flame-a-thon here; it seems to be a favorite amongst the ranks here. Alas, the combined factors of too big, too MUCH, and too many other things to see that I haven't yet, give it a big 3 strikes you're out. Although I will go in to make maroo happy :) I might find SOMETHING fun.

Mousegears will always hold a special place in my heart. Our first trip back in 2001, we were there in January, and were freezing in EPCOT!!! I had to buy something to keep the kids and I warm, so I popped in there and bought everyone of us Mickey and Minnie sweatshirts. We were them to death, and only just last year, the last kid grew out of theirs. It was a sad day. But Mousegears will always have the dintinction of getting a $200 purchase out of us in order to stay warm. I think it had something to do with the hole burning in my pocket.

Maroo - I have a inner need to correct other people's spelling and grammar, and have to resist the urge to correct it in quoted posts. But I do resist. Most of the time. :rolleyes1

I can't resist. :rotfl: Actually...I don't always correct it. And I think I only correct it for people I know.

I would hope someone would correct mine.

I also like Mousegears and the stores in the parks. So we could go there. :)

I am looking for a Disney blanket. But I guess I will have probably found it by then. ;)

Well, it HAS been in the house before...

OK, definitely will at least stop by the pins, but if I develop yet another Disney addiction, I've got your number, pal!

Hmmmm....that may be an idea. I'll bet it costs a bunch of money though, that'd I'm thinking Id now rather spend on creme brulee at Fultons. I think it's going to turn into a varitable dessert smorgasbord with brulee at Fultons, choco Krispy Treats at Goofy's and possibly something quite nommy at Ghiradellis too. You be right. But I ended up making 5 liters of it. The first batch ended up with a bunch more ground chili and ginger. The 2nd batch got sliced green onions and pepper flakes. I can tell you though, they both stink to high heavens. It' only one of two foods I can think of that smell rotten, but don't taste like they smell- Thai fish sauce is the other one.

Moving along with our mini-series of Must-do's/ Must-see's for each park and resort we'll be at... I'm going to approach it with an order from most favorite park to least. That's not to say I don't like them all in their own right, but well, MK will always hold a special place in my heart, as it is the one that brings back so many happy memories for me as a child growing up.

So without further ado, my list of top 10's for The Magic Kingdom are:

1) Spend WAY more time on Main Street USA- shopping, taking pictures, taking in the subtle theming details and little extras here.

2) Ride Splash, Jungle Cruise and BTMRR at night

3) See Spectro

4) Ride the no-namers like the Liberty Belle and climb the Swiss Family Treehouse (by the way, if you haven't seen that movie in a while, it's a good one. We had it sent over and watched it last week- great for the whole family!)

5) Ride the re-hab'd Space Mountain. I haven't ridden this in years, because the track is so jerky that the last few times have given me a huge headache that wrecked the rest of my day. Maybe they'll smooth the track, and give us a better ride?

6) Visit Toontown before its demise

7) Find a whole bunch of Hidden Mickeys I haven't seen yet

8) Take photos of a bunch of hidden gems that I've learned about over the last year- especially in Liberty Square and Frontier Land.

9) Arrive by boat, ferry, and monorail

10) Eat a Dole Whip Float and at Caseys (maybe even twice!) ;)

Soldier #1 has absolutely NO experience in the making and deploying of "really cool rotating banners", and had to call upon this brave and undaunted fellow compatriot for some much needed help.

In a matter of mere minutes, and only 5 PM's, the "really cool rotating banner" was successfully launched and is now fully operational.

Therefore, laud and appreciation are heaped upon this Soldier, as he quickly and respectfully answered the call- even when Soldier #1 had told him she felt as dumb as a frog fart for not being able to do this without aid.

Ok...I guess I will stay with the MK theme!

Technically the MK is my favorite park - at night! ;)

Which will be apparent when you see my top 10.

1. Wishes. :cloud9: It would not hurt my feelings if we watched it every single night! (Of course, we won't...just sayin'!)

2. Spectro!!!!! I love this parade!

3. Ride Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain Railroad, Jungle Cruise and Dumbo at night. I would also like to ride the TTA and that Astro ride at night. I have never ridden the Astro ride - it is not handicapped accessible! (Neither is the TTA.)

4. Eat an Ice Cream Sandwich in the heat of the day.

5. Ride BUZZ about 3 times in a row. Until my arms get tired. I love that ride!

6. Philharmagic!

7. I can't believe this is 7...Peter Pan! I love Peter Pan.

8. Ride the train. Except for that magical morning - I have never ridden the train. So I have never ridden the train all the way around. And since I rode it with Lucas and Mickey Mouse :cloud9: - I didn't pay attention - at all - where I was going.

9. Casey's Hot Dog. It better be a "real" hot dog. Yum!

10. Goofy's Candy Co

And since I didn't really use my 10 on DTD...here are some bonus ones.

Honorable Mentions:

Sit on the ground on the Hub after the big crowd has cleared out. Take pictures of the castle at night with no one around. :cloud9: I did this on my last trip - but I want to do it again.

Walk through Mickey and Minnie's House - It may be the last chance I get before they move them? Or remove them?

See the Fairies.

Ride Space Mountain!

Ok...Now I can go back and read yours...I had to skip them so I would not cheat!

Ahh... This sounds nice!

2) Ride Splash, Jungle Cruise and BTMRR at night

You stole mine. Didn't we talk about this? I had a few extras on mine, though. :rolleyes1

3) See Spectro

This was totally at the top of my list, too!

4) Ride the no-namers like the Liberty Belle and climb the Swiss Family Treehouse (by the way, if you haven't seen that movie in a while, it's a good one. We had it sent over and watched it last week- great for the whole family!)

EEK. I guess if you will go with me in the World of Disney I will do the Swiss Family Treehouse. :rotfl:

5) Ride the re-hab'd Space Mountain. I haven't ridden this in years, because the track is so jerky that the last few times have given me a huge headache that wrecked the rest of my day. Maybe they'll smooth the track, and give us a better ride?

I will ride it for us in December. And January. And March.....and let you know how jerky it is.

6) Visit Toontown before its demise

Totally on my list, too!

7) Find a whole bunch of Hidden Mickeys I haven't seen yet

That would be fun!

8) Take photos of a bunch of hidden gems that I've learned about over the last year- especially in Liberty Square and Frontier Land.

You are going to have to do a whole post on this...I have no idea what you are referring to??

9) Arrive by boat, ferry, and monorail

GOOD! That means we have to go at least...wait...

What is the difference between a boat and a ferry? Isn't a ferry a boat? :confused3

10) Eat a Dole Whip Float and at Caseys (maybe even twice!) ;)

Hmph. I will eat my ice cream sandwhich while you guys get a Dole Whip! :snooty:

Ok...I guess I will stay with the MK theme!

Which will be apparent when you see my top 10.

1. Wishes. :cloud9: It would not hurt my feelings if we watched it every single night! (Of course, we won't...just sayin'!) If you are going to watch it every night then one night you need to ride Splash Mountain during Wishes. The top hill gives you a great view of the park and the fireworks!

2. Spectro!!!!! I love this parade! We originally saw this on our honeymoon many moons ago and then saw it when it moved to DL and I am glad it is back home!

3. Ride Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain Railroad, Jungle Cruise and Dumbo at night. I would also like to ride the TTA and that Astro ride at night. I have never ridden the Astro ride - it is not handicapped accessible! (Neither is the TTA.) These are great ay night!

4. Eat an Ice Cream Sandwich in the heat of the day.

5. Ride BUZZ about 3 times in a row. Until my arms get tired. I love that ride!

6. Philharmagic! Great show!

The back side that you missed has some great special scenes and Indians. Stay on past the Frontierland exit.

I don't think I would sit on the ground, but I would take pictures of the empty area around the castle.

Walk through Mickey and Minnie's House - It may be the last chance I get before they move them? Or remove them? This is a must do! Take pictures of everything!

See the Fairies. It is worth the wait, but I would try to go about 30 minutes before Toon Town is scheduled to open since it often opens early.

Ride Space Mountain! It will be fun to see how this ride is changed!

I think that everyone's top tens look great! It should be a fantastic trip! :cheer2:

that's nice

I like your list. It's so ADULT!

It's also realistic and achievable!

Yeah, definitely geared towards adult fun. There's a lot more I want to do, but the ones I listed here are the top things. I think it will be easy to knock this stuff off- esp. without having to cater to the whims of kids in tow.

Leisa,

Did you see my comments? They were inside of your quote in green. I just put that smiley face because it wouldn't let me post without something outside of the quote. I didn't want you to think I was laughing at you~

When I tried to quote you responses imbedded into my text, it wouldn't let me, so everthing got erased except the smilie. Doofus, I know...

Why is it that Main Street is so overlooked?? There's so much there to explore, and even going as a kid a bazillion times, I've never been to... Kids just don't enjoy it, and it seems we're always pandering to them. NOT THIS TRIP!!

Yes, HM at night; but even better, we'll be doing it during MNSSHP!

Toontown/ New Fantasyland?? Does anyone know WHEN that will go bye-bye?? How about the timetable for the new F.L. to be opened??

OK. boat vs. ferry...

I was talking about the boats being the little launches that go from resort to resort and resort to MK. The ferry is the gigantor "paddle wheel" that only goes from the TTC to MK.

Once is plenty, but if we happened to be around for it twice, I may opt to hit my night time rides instead.

2. Spectro!!!!! I love this parade!

Haven't seen it yet, hence it being on my list. Normally, I'm not a parade-y type (esp. the 3:00) and avoid them like the plague!

3. Ride Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain Railroad, Jungle Cruise and Dumbo at night. I would also like to ride the TTA and that Astro ride at night. I have never ridden the Astro ride - it is not handicapped accessible! (Neither is the TTA.)

I'd like to do the Astro at night!! If the line isn't too long. TTA DEFINITELY

4. Eat an Ice Cream Sandwich in the heat of the day.

You do that...

5. Ride BUZZ about 3 times in a row. Until my arms get tired. I love that ride!

LOVE me some Buzz!!!

6. Philharmagic!

and Phil!

It's very relaxing, and there's actually some fun stuff to see- like TG says, especially past the Fr. L station...

9. Casey's Hot Dog. It better be a "real" hot dog. Yum!

sure better be!!

10. Goofy's Candy Co
I thought Goofy's was at DTD. Do you mean the Confectionary??? I hear they give out free fudge samples sometimes...:rolleyes1

The Kiss Goodnight is fabulous!

Walk through Mickey and Minnie's House - It may be the last chance I get before they move them? Or remove them?

I doubt they'll be moved, just removed...

See the Fairies.

I think you may be on your own here girlie.
Ride Space Mountain!

I love Peter Pan too..for us this is a fast-pass must-do!

I didn't really list out EVERy ride, since I think we probably really end up doing it all, just the general things I don't want to miss- kinda to set the tone of the trip. Everything else is gravy..

Did I miss posting about DTD :confused3

Maroo while sliding down to post about DTD - I read your post -

We love it when you come out to play!!

I think we could do this!!!

2) Ride Splash, Jungle Cruise and BTMRR at night

TTA ain't bad either.

That's a given!

3) See Spectro

Really?

Really. I have never seen it, and figure I should at least once. Maybe it will make me cry like MS Electrical did. :confused3

4) Ride the no-namers like the Liberty Belle and climb the Swiss Family Treehouse (by the way, if you haven't seen that movie in a while, it's a good one. We had it sent over and watched it last week- great for the whole family!)

One of my fave movies when I was younger!

So, fun, and exciting; in a clean sort of way. If you're uber geeky, the book is actually fantastic!!! I read it about once a year.

5) Ride the re-hab'd Space Mountain. I haven't ridden this in years, because the track is so jerky that the last few times have given me a huge headache that wrecked the rest of my day. Maybe they'll smooth the track, and give us a better ride?

Not much done during the rehab. Hopefully, the track is smoother

I hope so. I love a good coaster, but not one that makes my neck feel like I went to a bad chiropractor!

6) Visit Toontown before its demise

7) Find a whole bunch of Hidden Mickeys I haven't seen yet

8) Take photos of a bunch of hidden gems that I've learned about over the last year- especially in Liberty Square and Frontier Land.

9) Arrive by boat, ferry, and monorail

ferry!!! boat!!! so fun!

One from TTC, and maybe several from resorts...;)

10) Eat a Dole Whip Float and at Caseys (maybe even twice!)

:goodvibes

speaking of space mountain....

I love the ride but only if I'm not in front, because if that's where I am, I spend the entire ride ducking so I don't hit something and become decapitated in the dark.

If i'm in the back, I'll hear the scream and have time to duck..

I think I need help.

Someday, I'll get a cellphone and can play around with fun stuff like that! Until then, I like to stream it from subsonicradio.com or DIS Tunes.

Aw...come on...we are all humble people! :thumbsup2

Of course...this pre-trippie has grown some legs and is about to sprout wings, but we are still humble! :hippie:

You're right in general we are humble- at least I like to hope so. This thread has gone gonzo, so in the sense that it is humble, meaning "lowly"- well, it's not. Do I love it?? You bet!

Awesome litsts! Nothing beats a good dog. Love the footlong chili-cheese coneys at Sonic. Then there are Chicago style dogs at Earls. MMMMMMMMM I'm getting hawngry.

Anyone remember, or still have, Der Wienerschnitzel?? We used to cruise through there on school mornings and grab a chili dog for breakfast. Chili with a bunch of fake cheese on it. :cloud9: French class got mighty interesting sometimes. :rolleyes1

I love Philharmagic and COP. They are my two favorites in MK. We missed COP last trip, and I must go next time!!

MINE TOO!! Well, that was sorta new as of last trip. Both were new for me; but I'd ahve to say for nostalgic reasons PoTC and HM will hold special places in my heart.

What's COP? and why can't I think of what that means?:confused3

(you don't have to answer the 2nd question:sad2:)

We understand.. ;)

COP = Carousel of Progress :goodvibes

THANKS! Pollito916!!! I LOVE it when people can cover the thread- as much as I'd love to be here 24/7, life continues on...

Oh yea! Thanks.. :worship: It still didn't come to me. :confused3

I've never been on this. :sad2:*runs and hides*

I've not been on/to so many things- don't feel bad. It's a great one, though; try not to miss it in March!!

I'm glad you asked first. I didn't want to get flamed for my lack of Disney knowledge.

You'd never get flamed here, my friend! (remember...we are humble.) I can't ever keep track of any of those Boardwalk area resorts, and SAB (Storm Along Bay) always messes with me. Don't worry! :hippie: (I love that smilie)

Well, I got behind again (big shock!), so... I had to skim to catch up. Here's what I got:

raw sewage (or was it raw cabbage?)
Jordan and Leisa, long lost cousins
DTD has a margarita stand
Casey's dogs are a must 'doo'

Did I do okay?;)

WOW! That's pretty good for skimming through!! I'm impressed!

It was both- my kimchee is safely fermenting in my entryway. Ya know, I really should post a picture of my entryway to show you all our bounty for this winter.

You know what?! We just could be... :cool2:

I'm saving my potential margaritas for the stand in Mexico (WS). I definitely will be doing a mini-series of my drink choices for the trip in the future, so pocket this little nugget away....;)

Casey's dogs are a must 'doo'

Yesterday, I noticed my little, yet biggest pain in the patootie ticky-tocker, (thanks again, Tim! maybe I should set up a rotating on-call tech support team to help me out when our plans change again. Now, if you got through that confusing bit of poor writing, let's move onto the business at hand.

Moving up in rank from Sergeants to Sergeant Majors!!

This is the highest ranking for enlisted soldiers and according to Wiki, "carries with it certain ceremonial functions such as caring for the unit's colors (flag). Additionally, they serve as monitors for, and advocates of, the enlisted men in the command. This position exists in units of battalion size and larger."

I like that, as it is due and proper time for the TC3 to begin thinking more seriously about it's "colors", also known as matching T-shirts, costumes, and the like. Do we care about such things? Ummm, yeah, we are ladies of high fashion and distinction.

As for monitors and advocates? Well, what I can say is that we've been monitoring the possibilities and have put out many recruiting calls, and several "are thinking about it...". Trust us, if we have a battalion sized group that comes with us, we will definitely be advocates for you!!

"Ceremonial functions"?? Got that covered too!! We've got the MK flag ceremony, the Poly torch lighting ceremony, the trolley show ceremony, the Muppets show ceremony, the Hoop de View, er, I mean Hoop de Doo sangria fest/napkin twirling ceremony, and the put our feet up on the TTA ceremony all to look forward to and/or preside over.

Sergeant Major 7 signing off...

By the way, speaking of bombs... I just (and I do mean just) learned of a horrible tragedy that happened here yesterday...

Our city is recently putting in new natural gas lines and folks are switching out to gas furnaces. A brand new hotel that many adopting foreigners stay at got blown to pieces!!1 It is actually right across the street from our office. That is what happens when there is no inspection and sub-quality parts are being used, I guess. I don't know if any foreigners were involved but I did hear at least 7 people were killed. :sad1: Now, my househelper is saying that a private house also went up yesterday.

When I was in East Asia. they were doing alot of building...it was scary!

The building boom is nearly played out here, as the banks realized that a free for all credit system wasn't such a great idea. HA!! Interesting how it took years for the US to figure that out, and about 6 months for our place to do so. Now, the banks are giving VERY few loans out. (insert screeching tires sound here.)

that's so sad!

It really is! I'm dying to know if any of the adopting foreigners were there.

Actually, the rumor is that 7!!:scared1: people were killed! I am so very sad! I walked by it today, on the way to our teammates flat; all the windows are blown out, one wall (the one I could see from the street) has a huge crack in it, and it's leaning. There were a big group of officials talking outside as I went past.

My househelper also says that a private home also blew up just nearby as well yesterday. Maybe those who are installing the gas lines and new furnaces will make extra sure they are doing what they are supposed to be doing now? :confused3

And because we have to keep this thread on track... here a the next Top 10's. My second favorite park is well, EPCOT, but only WS part. So, I'm dividing up EPCOT into 2 segments with FW following sometime later.

I feel I must re-iterate, these aren't the only things I'll be doing, but only the things I want to put as the highest priority.

Now, without further ado, World Showcase Top 10:

1) I want to see all 4 shows; Canada, USA, France, and China. I've only seen one of them, and really enjoyed it.

2) Must see Miyuki again. She is over-the-top enchanting.

3) There is a lady in China who plays the zither. The music is so soothing and myterious sounding. I love it!

4) Mo' Rockin' is also way high on my list. I love their stuff so much, I bought and downloaded a few of their songs.

5) Last trip I missed Voices of LIberty by mere minutes. I was so sad!

6) I do love a ride on the high seas of Norway. Maelstrom is a must-do!

7) I've read some rave reviews of the KimPossible Missions; they really aide in finding some hidden treasures that Imagineering has cleverly put into the theming.

8) Definitely need to find a bunch of the hidden gems I've learned about over the last year. (Separate post on these sometime later)

9) Almost every country has a fountain and national HATS for sale. I'm willing to risk the cooties, but I want a picture of my by all the fountains and with hats from all the countries that have them.

10) And last, but not least, there are some fun eats and drinks ready for the noshing.

You can bet this trip will have a robust portion of time allotted for exploring and enjoying. There's so much to see and do!! maroo, I'll show you the great side of WS!!!

There is so much there! WS deserves LOADS of time, but I think most people don't take it. I know I didn't the first times I was there. Again, kids have a way of doing that. I'm really looking forward to doing Epcot and WS with Piper as well..oddly enough those are the two things I have the most memory of from my trips as a kid. (Mind you that was 25 yrs ago..lol) My mouth kind of drops open when I read TRs where families didn't spend a whole day there, lol. I could go and spend the week! I'm debating on the Kim Possible thing, I think Piper would prob enjoy it, but I think it takes a lot of time and we already have too little time and too much to fit in! The hats idea sounds really fun. (If you're worried just take a lil can of lysol and secretly give it a spray..)

I'm hoping to get a full day in in just the WS....not all at once but over the course of the trip. I also think by having more "adults" with us this trip, that will be easier to pull off as I think they will love the WS.

Nah, she can do it, but will have to learn how to use spell checker! :teacher::idea:

DD10 is a spelling whiz but DD8 can't spell worth a darn. It's very frustrating for me to try and study with DD8 because she spells everything phonetically. Her teacher insists that some kids just 'get it' and others have to work to spell every word. And then she tells me not to worry because of spell check.

Poor Bekka - all this fuss over one little letter!

An OR nurse sounds like a wonderful career. Not a lot of spelling required either! We love our OR nurses :goodvibes

Woops forgot to add WS thoughts...... After looking at your list I have realized that I know NOTHING about the WS. Yea, I know where the drinks are but I feel like we always rush through here. One thing that we did like last time in Epcot was the KidCot stops. Juliana liked making her mask and the interaction with CMs from around the world is cool. We've only been to Epcot 2 times so far, I need to schedule more time here on some trip in the future (probably won't happen next time either:sad2:)

Oh my, oh my, oh my! Leisa, I am ashamed to say that I have done only a couple of items on your list! I am so intrigued by KP Missions though I've never heard of them. Myuki? Who is s/he and what does s/he do?

Great list overall! What about the ride in Mexico?

Unlike the fantasy or the educational elements that I love about the other parks, the intricate, yet serene, beauty of Animal Kingdom draws me to it.

I will admit the confusing layout of the park itself left me with quite an unfavorable bias on my first visit in 2001. The kids and I wandered around lost and confused (I tend to do that anyways under normal circumstances), and quite frankly frustrated; but the old adage, "Knowledge is the key to enjoyment" certainly holds true for this park.

On our last visit we went went well prepared with the backstory of AK as our starting point. It opened a whole new world to us! Really? There's an "Asia"? And an "Africa?" And really super corny-tacky area called "Dinoland" with a ride that could actually induce sponataneous puking?! (Guess where the kids headed off to right after EE?)

There's so much I love about this park, but here a few things that top my list of Must-Do's:

1) Walk all 3 trails, paying extra attention to the theming in each one; Maharaja, Pangani, and the Tree of Life Trails.

2) Find and watch DeVine

3) Ride EE, possibly several dozen times. :rotfl2::rotfl:

4) See the Festival of the Lion King show

5) Explore the Oasis Animal Exhibits and Discovery Island shops (each has a different theme, did you know?)

6) Stop to wach the African musicians and other music groups that play around the park.

7) Find a whole bunch of Hidden Mickeys and hidden gems I've learned about over the last year.

8) Eat a Minnie's Strawberry bar

9) See the folk art and handpainted murals in Pizzafari

10) If time, see Nemo again (it made me cry last time)

Think I can fit it all in?? I think I'll have at least 1 and a half days here total. Maybe even more, if I get here during one of my solo days. I'm ready for an adventure here, for sure!

I really really hope to have time to just explore the WS this time. I've been to WDW 4 times and have not really explored it at all. We've eaten, we've had drinks, we've strolled. But really explore? Enjoy? No.

I'm hoping to get a full day in in just the WS....not all at once but over the course of the trip. I also think by having more "adults" with us this trip, that will be easier to pull off as I think they will love the WS.

I love your list!

I guess, I've always gone with kids, who aren't really into stop and smell the roses kind of touring. Details aren't important, high thrills are. So we stand in line for Maelstrom and flit from place to place.

I think no less than a whole day is needed JUST for WS. Most people give it a half day tops. Us included our first trips. Your kids are older too, and now with the KP Missions, it should be easier to entice them to stay longer.

When you're on Maelstrom, look for the hidden Mickey on the mural at the loading dock!

I've seen that one!! Isn't that clever? I'd have never seen it though without having seen Steven Barrett's website. :rolleyes1

I'm happy to report that with me and my kids trying on every stinkin hat in WS, none of us has walked away with cooties, lice or anyother nasty thing.

We can look at gloves, scarfs, jackets..and none of them inspire us to try them on. But we see a hat and it's like we're genetically undable to pass it up.

I think it's probably easier to get lice from public school than from Disney hats. Just sayin'...:confused3

Some fun ones to get may be in Future World too. We got one of NASA helmuts that were pretty fun last time.

I love a nice hat too, ask Jordan about the 5 berets I bought in France (the real France) on my high school trip. I like them for about 10 minutes, then they get relegated to the junk trunk forever more. Too sentimental for selling, too stupid looking to actually wear.

http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/Tacierinrin/funny%20crap/iwouldkillhim.jpg

this reminded me of your stolen outhouse...

OMG! That's too funny!! Speaking of genetics... are men programmed to spray all over the place? It's like they are living out a childhood dream of being a firefighter or something. No offense, guys, but why is the throne constantly "coated"?

DD10 is a spelling whiz but DD8 can't spell worth a darn. It's very frustrating for me to try and study with DD8 because she spells everything phonetically. I've heard that too. Spelling, they say, is a visual thing, and some can remember the shape of the words and some can't. Spelling phonectically actually works in most other languages, but definitely NOT in English.

I hope that she can get into nursing school!! Her grades are good, though, so I'm not too worried.

Mikuki is this lady:

I usually do all the attractions on one day and then come back just to do Nemo. While I like FOTLK, it's not something I need to do every trip. I usually see it once every 3-4 years. I take that back...I don't think I've actually seen FOTLK since 03....I guess I need to see it this trip...

Anyways at 1 1/2 days at AK, that's what I would do. I LOVE Nemo so I try to see that twice every trip.

We've never been to AK, so it's something I'm really looking forward to. Piper is convinced she wants to ride Primevil(sp?) Whirl, which should be interesting considering she normally refuses to ride anything that spins, knows this spins, yet is all about it..we'll see, lol. She also wants to ride EE, other than that I think we'll prob end up focusing on the animal trails and conservation station, and shows. I've never heard of Minnie's Strawberry Bar, we're both strawberry nuts, so we'll have to try it!

Never seen it. Like Jordan says, it's hard to get allthe shows in. I think it's a conspiracy.

Not really, but each shop is done up with a different theme, and I want to see it for myself. One is migrating animals, one is spots and stripes, etc...

Very good idea. You can do what Juliana does and play the drums in Harambe.

I'd like that!!

I think that's about what I have scheduled. I think it should be enough. I love Nemo too, I think the staging and production are AMAZING!

We've never been to AK, so it's something I'm really looking forward to. Piper is convinced she wants to ride Primevil(sp?) My kids rode Primeval Hurl and thought is was meh. I had to stay with my 6 year old, so maybe I'm lucky? We rode the Dumbo wanna be twice with no line whatsoever. She loved it, and I was spared.

Strawberry bars are so good!! If I'm not mistaken they are 100% natural with no preservatives or artificial junk. They are so yummy and refreshing on a hot day. And less filling and fattening than ice cream. That way, you can pig out extra well at Bomas later on. :lmao:

maroo, STOP NOW! Skip to the next page, and don't peek! I know you're trying......... shoo, go 'way ;)

Peeps, don't quote these photos, or they'll end up where she might see them. :goodvibes

As the weeks and months pass, I hope to be busy putting together a few little things to put in a gift basket for maroo and LeeAnn. My hope is that these little baskets can be waiting for them when they arrive in the room, but that will depend on timing, and if I can be the first one to check in. If not, that's ok, but it sure would be fun to have these surprises waiting for them.

I want to share with you what I did this weekend for my fellow soldiers. I think a little "friendly fire" of this sort will be a nice thing. I hope maroo and LeeAnn will enjoy these little homemade things, as much as I enjoyed making them!

Here is the front of one of the little coasters with a not-so- hidden- Mickey.

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/MickeyCoaster.jpg

And the back...

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/backofcoaster-1.jpg

And all 3 of ours put together:

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/Ourtripcoasters.jpg

My hope is that we can use these for our morning cups of coffee or tea during our trip (or in maroo's case probably pop), and then take them home and use them all year long, emoting fond memories of our time together.

They only took about 1/2 hour each, since I was using scraps from our quilting class. I should be able to put the last 2 Mickey's on and quilt them next weekend. Most of you know, the computer stays off in our house on Sundays, and that Saturday night is always pizza/movie night, so not much updating happens on the weekends. Which is a good thing, because that frees me up to do some fun little things like this, work on my Planning Journal, and most importantly, spend some quality time with my family. :grouphug:

I'm also thinking that this might be a nice gifty for whoever wins the Rations Drop Game- which will start back up sometime soon. Can't say when exactly, but soon. I have enough fabric for a couple more of these. :yay: And since I'm so nice, and love a good game, I won't even make you come and get it in person. ;)

With AK - we like to do EE first, then FP - go over to Dinosaur - then DD likes to do that primevil whirl - so I run to Safari to get FP - then we wander the trails... and we esp look out for CM's on the trails that have "earning my ears" and talk to them -

another time - we went to the Harumbe School! DD was missing school, and they were studying Africa - so we got the best education - the CM was earning her ears - and while she was scheduled to talk about one section of Africa, the other guests wandered off - but DD kept asking her questions, and before you konw it, she spent over 1/2 hour talking about her hometown!!

So AK has a special place for us - we dont often make it through all the trails - instead we spend a lot of time in one trail.. again mostly looking for the CM's that stand off to the sides...

I'm actually hoping we can do the Behind the Scene tour at AK - you get there early and sometimes they do medical procedures (well visits as well as operations) that you get to see... plus

do you know about the "secret" AK path? It takes you round the Tree and I keep missing it... maybe Robo has it on his maps at Stitch Kingdom - I'll go look and report back - but I know it ends where the FP machines are outside of Its Tough To Be A Bug (Hey, how come this isnt on your list?? ;) )

hmmm Go Figure - Robo doesnt have the map (It was on TGM - but I no longer subscribe and didnt save any of their secret info)

Here's my google finds>>>

<<<As you are on your way to Harambe Village keep your eye out for the last path to the right after the Tree of Life and before the bridge to Harambe Village. This is the "SECRET PATH". The front of path is filled with a lot of vegetation so you might have to look hard. Yes it is open to the public. Follow the path for a close look at the Tree of Life and for some great photo spots. Not many people know about this path so you will have a lot of time to yourself and will not be interruptions when you are taking photos. You know those people who ignore the fact that you are taking a picture and walk right in front of you. >>>

Here is another one.

<<<The 'secret path' - There's a small eating area, with picnic tables, on the path between Harambe Village and Asia. If you're walking from Harambe Village, the area is on the left. Just before the picnic tables, you'll see the start of the 'secret path'.>>>

:thumbsup2

Hope you add this to your top ten AK must do's (and ITA hard to fit the shows in with all the other attractions...It always amazes me when people think this is a "half day" park - in our house its a 3 or 4 visit park! I know, we're weird!)

I'm actually hoping we can do the Behind the Scene tour at AK - you get there early and sometimes they do medical procedures (well visits as well as operations) that you get to see... plus

do you know about the "secret" AK path? It takes you round the Tree and I keep missing it... maybe Robo has it on his maps at Stitch Kingdom - I'll go look and report back - but I know it ends where the FP machines are outside of Its Tough To Be A Bug (Hey, how come this isnt on your list?? ;) )

Thanks for all those tips!!

I did know about that path, and it's on my list of the "hidden gems" to look for at this park. Robo did have it. I've studied it several times, in fact, and I think I can find it.

That sounds really cool about the CMs who stand on the trails. I will really look out for them!

uh huh....and I noticed you deleted your spelling error (which was clearly not so much an error as a fingers moving faster than the brain or the other way around I'm never sure) from my quoted post so the evidence is gone...
I LOVE maroo's list for the WS:laughing::laughing::laughing:

and I love your ideas! SO cute. She is a far stronger woman than I.

I would peek.

Yeah, she's a funny one, that maroo!

HA! I thought I'd just get all that evidence out muy pronto like. :lmao:

I've never seen her. I'm hoping I get to see her this time.
I've always managed to miss her too. I need to start paying more attention at the AK.

Have you seen it before? I think it's my favorite of all the shows at Disney. I love the monkeys!

Miyuki is worth seeing way more than once!

No, never have seen that show, that's why I put it here on my top 10. I keep hearing great things about it!

Wait just one minute - rice flour? As in gluten free rice flour? She will definitely be on the top of our list for Epcot. I think I mentioned before that Bella has celiac disease and cannot have any wheat, rye, barley, or oat. A rice flour treat is perfect for her! Thanks for the tip Leisa!

As far as I understand it is 100% rice flour. Of course the paint she uses may have gluten, but I doubt it. You could ask her no problem!! She's very personable and sweet! Be careful though, they are so pretty, she may not want to eat it :)

super cute!!

Thanks! Super easy to make!

How cool that you made those!!!!!! I love how you made something that will be with them after they return home. Like you said, it will remind them of WDW and your time together!!!!!!

I do hope they like them! I've made a few other things already as well, but those will have to wait a while to be revealed. They are "keepers" as well. even Bekka is getting in on the action of little gifty giving.

1) Walk all 3 trails, paying extra attention to the theming in each one; Maharaja, Pangani, and the Tree of Life Trails.

There are 3 trails?!? :confused3 oh geez, the more I read your PTR, the less knowledgeable I feel
2) Find and watch DeVine
good luck! take pictures
3) Ride EE, possibly several dozen times. :rotfl2::rotfl:
that's all :rotfl2:
4) See the Festival of the Lion King show
love it!
5) Explore the Oasis Animal Exhibits and Discovery Island shops (each has a different theme, did you know?)
I could skip this, but that is because I have small children who think that looking is something that always involves eyes and hands! Definitely perfect for an 'adult' trip.
6) Stop to wach the African musicians and other music groups that play around the park.
always amazing
7) Find a whole bunch of Hidden Mickeys and hidden gems I've learned about over the last year.
do you have a list?
8) Eat a Minnie's Strawberry bar
yum! I prefer these to the Mickey bars too
9) See the folk art and handpainted murals in Pizzafari
we ate there, but sadly never noticed. Maybe next time
10) If time, see Nemo again (it made me cry last time)
I think this is my favorite show in all of WDW. Broadway worthy and amazing!
Think I can fit it all in?? I think I'll have at least 1 and a half days here total. Maybe even more, if I get here during one of my solo days. I'm ready for an adventure here, for sure!

I think I may need to threadlift your top 10 ideas for my PTR!

Love the surprise gifts! So cute!

I didn't know about the secret path at AK before - thanks for the tip! :thumbsup2

My little sister has been an OR nurse for the past 2 or 3 years! She loves it and loves talking about it. I have a queasy stomach and do NOT love hearing about it. She is also terrible at spelling, grammar, and punctuation, history, and especially geography. But that isn't necessary information to be a good nurse. She's good at what she does and very patient with people that need help.

the surprises are so pretty. i have to say animal kingdom is my least favorite park and i have been known to skip it on short trips (shhh...bad disney girl i know) but i do love the nemo show and everest. festival of the lion king eh. i dont know. it just doesnt thrill me . i was a fan of tarzan rocks. maybe you can show us some awesome pics and trip notes about animal kingdom when you get back and convert me to an animal kingdom lover.

Love your top ten lists! So... you don't like Future World? I love Future World - Tomorrowland, too. Something about that kitchy modernistic vibe.

I do have to point out, that there are actually 5 movies in World Showcase that you need to see : remember the one after Maelstrom that everyone skips? All those shows are fun - I actually have the soundtrack of the Canada one on my Ipod. Martin Short is hilarious!

The Nemo show IS awesome. Totally Broadway quality in my opinion. But, I love FOTLK, too. That music really gets me. MGM top ten coming up, or did I miss it?

Thanks! I had a fun afternoon planning and making them. Next week, I'll give you a peek at the other little surprises I have cooked up for them.

Your welcome. I wish I could say my knowledge came from going to Disney ever year, but rather reflects the inordinanate amount of time I spend toodling around on the boards. :lmao:

Glad to know your sister made it through nursing school without knowing when to replace e's with a's. :rotfl2: I guess as long as she can keep valium and viagra straight!! :lmao:

Yot got it!! Here's what's funny... that's not even my legal name! :lmao: I changed it in Junior high just to be "different", and it STUCK! Much to my parents' dismay people did start using it, and now it's on everything but my passport.

Ah, the ends kids will go to to be noticed. :rolleyes1:sad2:

The kids of little hidden gems and secrets will have a whole series of separate posts, don't worry, I'll put them all in one place for you ;)

I think it's a middle of the road park for me, but one that is really growing on me. As I get older, I'm ready to slow down and not be pressured to flit and rush, but rather be there for its own beauty's sake.

Don't get me wrong, I have a need for high thrills too (save your comments winkers, I know what you're thinking! :lmao:) and speed too, so taking a spin on EE or TT or M:S (orange side) isn't out of my realm of "will do".

Someone who does some great write ups on AK is circusgirl. I know I've mentioned her before. She puts words in her writing that just make you love it!

Nemo is one well-done show!! I"ve been a MANY broadway shows and this one could easily compete with any of those! I think in Heaven I'm going to get a voice like a broaway singer. :thumbsup2

Well, it's not that I DON'T like FW, but I wouldn't put it about the other parks. I've never really liked TomLand either- I'm more of a nostaligic kind of gal, as opposed to a look-to-the-future kind of gal. I will admit though, some of the jokes and visual puns in both those areas tickle my fancy every time. Paging Mr. Morrow, Mr. Tom Morrow. :lmao: I have no idea why that is so funny to me!

So, I actually divided FW and WS up into 2 separate posts. Becuase I like AK more than FW, but less than WS, and well, EPCOT just feels like 2 different parks to me.

I've seen the Maelstrom show all 3 times I've been there. Like a sheep, I didn't know you could walk through and skip it. Yeah, I know, I know. I was worried about offending the CMs getting publicly reprimanded or thrown out of the park for not learning all they had to offer about Norway. I'm going to probably break the rules this trip... pirate:

I have the Canada music on my IPod too! That soundtrack is probably one of my favorites of the whole album.

Here ya go...

:goodvibes

Maroo is BACK!!!!

I did not peek. I did see something about "surprises" somewhere on this page...but I have no idea what Liesa is cooking up over there! I hope it is NOT Tofu! But I can feel some veggies coming on at some point in this trip!

Here is my top 10 for Animal Kingdom!

1. Ride Everest. Over and Over and Over and Over and Over. So far I have managed to ride 13 times in a row. After that I get a little dizzy and lightheaded...but a few hours later I can go back and ride some more! I FP it...then ride and ride and ride and then FP again...and so on! And I use EVERYONE's ticket - even if they don't want to ride. I totally cheat. I know. Flame away.

2. Finding Nemo Show. This may be my favorite show in all of the Disney Parks. I love the music. And the puppets and costumes are just beautiful!

3. Festival of the Lion King. I also love this show...but not as much as Nemo.

4. Did I mention that I want to ride Everest over and over? Second only to Soarin' - best RIDE in Disney!

5. Safari. Not because I really love it...but because I have not had an encounter on there yet...I really want to get CLOSE to a giraffe! (spelling?)

6. Explore some of the back trails. I have never done this and would really like to.

7. Watch a surgery at the animal area! I think this would be so cool and I hope they are fixing something interesting over there! It will be neat to see the differences between a human OR and an animal OR.

8. Drink a lemon slush! These are so good on a hot day!

9. Ride Kali Rapids. I anticipate riding this in March for the first time. I want to take my water camera and capture pictures while I am on the ride!

10. Did I mention I want to ride Everest over and over? :rolleyes1

I know I mentioned them earlier - but I realized when I read Maroo's list - the Lemon Slushie must be eaten while watching the Flights of Wonder show :lovestruc Its best to "hit" the show just right so you are not standing outside waiting to be let in... and there are a few "good" seats to be 'picked' to go on stage!!

2. Finding Nemo Show. This may be my favorite show in all of the Disney Parks. I love the music. And the puppets and costumes are just beautiful!

YES!! and it IS beautiful!

3. Festival of the Lion King. I also love this show...but not as much as Nemo.

It will be my first time- you'll have to show me how to snort like a pig-or whatever it is they do in there...

4. Did I mention that I want to ride Everest over and over? Second only to Soarin' - best RIDE in Disney!

Come to think of it, yes, I think you did.

5. Safari. Not because I really love it...but because I have not had an encounter on there yet...I really want to get CLOSE to a giraffe! (spelling?)

First time I did this a way back when, I just simply didn't get it, so never went back on again. I think I would like to give this another shot.

6. Explore some of the back trails. I have never done this and would really like to.

Let's do this!! (There's some cool HMs back on those trails.)

7. Watch a surgery at the animal area! I think this would be so cool and I hope they are fixing something interesting over there! It will be neat to see the differences between a human OR and an animal OR.

Maybe we could see a birth even!! THAT would be cool!

8. Drink a lemon slush! These are so good on a hot day!

I actually had one last time! They are VERY tasty and refreshing....

9. Ride Kali Rapids. I anticipate riding this in March for the first time. I want to take my water camera and capture pictures while I am on the ride!

This was fun! The kids and I got a hoot for our hot here.

10. Did I mention I want to ride Everest over and over? :rolleyes1

Hey, Sandy, you snuck in there while I was typing up the last set of responses :)

Punkin and I met (albeit, VERY briefly) in Nashville at the Rainforest. I wish we could have all eaten together so we could have gotten to know each other better!! Next time!! (By the way, Dawn, I'm trying to seriously get a meet going for Nashville sometime like around Sept 1st. I know it's a majorly long way off, but hey, I think we can do a longer sort of soiree next time)

Anyway... YES! You will love an expo!! The work that some people can do will blow you away! It will def. bring enough inspiration to bring even the most stubborn of "don't want to get started-es" out.

I think this might actually be a fun show to try to get in. Maybe on my solo day. :confused3 Do tell where the good seats are.

Can you STILL NOT see it??!!

Ok...I could SEE it...I just could not quote it to post my comments on here... :rolleyes1 I could not quote the quote box. :)

OK, last time!!

Oh yeah! I am so with you on that!

2) Find and watch DeVine

Oh my gosh! I forgot about her! I definitely want to see her...that may be the top on my list!

3) Ride EE, possibly several dozen times.

He he. I knew we were kindred spirits! :goodvibes

4) See the Festival of the Lion King show

yes ::yes::

5) Explore the Oasis Animal Exhibits and Discovery Island shops (each has a different theme, did you know?)

I had NO idea! Sounds good, though!

6) Stop to wach the African musicians and other music groups that play around the park.

I am one of THOSE people...that just walk right by...:sad2: But not this trip! :yay:

7) Find a whole bunch of Hidden Mickeys and hidden gems I've learned about over the last year.

Ah...:cloud9:

8) Eat a Minnie's Strawberry bar

Hmm...This would count as a fruit. Does my LEMON slush?

9) See the folk art and handpainted murals in Pizzafari

Ah! And I like to eat there, too! :)

10) If time, see Nemo again (it made me cry last time)

Bring a tissue! You have to see this!! :)

Think I can fit it all in?? I think I'll have at least 1 and a half days here total. Maybe even more, if I get here during one of my solo days. I'm ready for an adventure here, for sure!

I love AK! I can't wait to see even more than I have already seen!

Maroo,

13 times?

WOW!

I love that you use everyones ticket. Who cares!

Are the AK lemon slushies good? We had a HORRIBLE one at DHS, scared us from trying again.

I didn't realize you could see animal surgery, that would be so cool!

Liesa,

that soup looks yummy, you can just leave the tofu out of mine.

yes, lemon slushies can count.

Sandy, those are great pix!! THanks for all of them. See, there's so much I missed since I was such a doofus newbie first time I went.

You know what looked most fun?? The bats!! I love the bats, and can't wait to hang out with them!!

They are good!! I got a coffee one, but the kids all got lemon. They were both really tasty!

That was the gazpacho that creeped maroo out many moons ago. There isn't any tofu in it, but hmmm... you've got me thinking...

Ahhh... another Nashville meet!!

Hm.....

Southwest does fly to Nashville. But it seems expensive to me from here...I would probably drive it. :)

Yeah, it's funny but tons of folks that hang out here and other threads are from right around there. I say we do something really fun together- some have already chimed in and voted for Cheesecake Factory. A little dessert and coffee at Paneras, a little shopping... I like where this is going!

that's nice

Geez....

I'm gone for the morning and this thread BLOWS up!!!!!

AK- For those of you who don't want a slushy try this--> Yak Attack - Mango Daiquiri, Bacardi Light Rum, and Wildberry Flavors

You can find it at Y&Y quality beverages, which is to the right of Y&Y CS. ;)

I love all your top ten! What in the world do you have against FW?:scared1::confused3:scared1: See? Even the smilies agree with me.:lmao:
I can't believe Nemo made you cry. I love that show!
The goodies you made for them turned out so cute.
I :lmao::rotfl2: when you kept changing the name for Maroo.

Punkin!!!! Long Time No SEE!!

(we met at the Polynesian - a Dis meet with a bunch of "strangers" Punkin got a Lapu Lapu!!)

hey, sandy!!!! good to "see" you, too! i had no idea you were over here. leisa pimped out her pre-TR over on my way-too-early pre-TR so i thought i'd join the fun.

(sandy is sooooo sweet! we had a great meet at ohana's with some other ladies from the disappearing peeps thread, a weight loss thread we were both part of...except it was SO LOUD in that place it was hard to talk to anyone!!!)

:welcome::jumping1::welcome:

I'm giddy, and well, almost embarrasingly flattered that you made it over!!! Thank you so much for coming over to what is becoming way too much fun!

Dawn, I hope you stop by lots to chit-chat and hang out with the :dance3:!!

wow....thanks! you sure do know how to flatter a girl. :goodvibes

definitely! nashville is pretty easy for me to do because i only live 4 hours away and i have tons of family there that i go see lots anyways. so just let me know! the only thing i can think of that would make me not be able to go is if i have a major job i'm working on at the moment or if i'm very pregnant or have a teeny, tiny baby (since we are currently in the "trying" stage).

Dawn awww - good luck, and have fun trying!! :cutie:

Tim :rotfl2: that's just a bit further down the road from Flights of Wonder - and the road I take to get the Lemon Slushies - I may have to detour to try that Yak Attack!! :thumbsup2

and I have never seen the Nemo show... :rolleyes1 We did see Tarzan before it closed...

The bats are interesting - DD was fasinated by the room - she was reading all around looked up and :scared1: there isnt any glass on the windows!! :rotfl2:

She so takes her time and reads and watches everything!!

Southwest flights look like they are $54 one way - not too bad!!

You guys have never had it marianated in chili ginger sauce, fried to a crispy yumminess and served swimming in sweet terriyaki, then.

I've never done that with styrofoam either but that doesn't mean I'm gonna nor does it mean it would taste good after doing so! :rotfl2: Tofu = nothanku!

I know. Flame away.

only 13? And using other's fast passes? really? Don't you know cheaters never win - except in your case, cuz going on EE 13 times in a row make you grand champion in my book!

7. Watch a surgery at the animal area! I think this would be so cool and I hope they are fixing something interesting over there! It will be neat to see the differences between a human OR and an animal OR.

I learn something new every day? A live surgery? Sounds like fun! I need to add that one to my own list (DH and GMa can take the girls on something else while I see this)

9. Ride Kali Rapids. I anticipate riding this in March for the first time. I want to take my water camera and capture pictures while I am on the ride!

If there is a member of your party that doesn't want to ride, have her wait on the bridge at the end to get some great shots too!

10. Did I mention I want to ride Everest over and over? :rolleyes1

No, you hadn't mentioned that before :rotfl2: are you a fan of EE or something?
